Chittorgarh Fort is a massive citadel complex that spans over 240 hectares and has been standing for over a millennium. It is not just a fort, but almost a self-sufficient township with ornate palaces, temples, and gateways. This historic site holds great significance as it was the capital of the Mewar kingdom for eight centuries and witnessed many dramatic events.
Chittorgarh Fort is a true symbol of Rajput pride and valor. 🏰 The fort is massive and beautifully built on a hill, offering stunning views of the entire city. Every corner tells a story of bravery — from Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh to Rani Padmini Palace and Rana Kumbha Palace. The fort area is very clean and well-maintained. You can either walk or take a vehicle tour — both are worth it. The light and sound show in the evening is amazing and gives a deep insight into Chittor’s glorious history. If you love history, architecture, and nature, this place is a must-visit. 🌅 Highly recommended for families, students, and history lovers.

The fort is grand and steeped in history — truly a place that captures the essence of Rajput pride and heritage. The views from the top are breathtaking, and spots like Vijay Stambh, Kirti Stambh, and Padmini Palace are must-sees. However, the fort area is quite large and not very well managed in parts. Cleanliness could be much better, and there’s very little signage or information available for visitors.
Harmeet K — Google review
The fort is one of most amazing forts in India. Though managed by govt agencies, it is a decent job. Pros 1. All important places inside the fort are accessible by road in your car. 2. Sufficient auto rickshaw services are available. 3. Key historical sites are well maintained. 4. Guides are reasonable, knowledgeable and communicate well. Cons. 1. Light and sound show is slow and boring. There was mention of Maharana Pratap. It ended abruptly. Don't waste time and money. 2. Be careful while driving up and down the fort as there are narrow gates to cross and most drivers don't have patience to stop.

The Last Flame of ChittorgarhThe sun dipped low over the vast stone walls of Chittorgarh Fort, painting them in shades of gold and crimson. Inside the fort’s silent courtyards, Princess Padmavati stood gazing at the Vijay Stambh. The tower seemed to whisper tales of valour—of warriors who had once guarded these gates with unyielding courage. For weeks, siege drums had thundered beyond the ramparts. Alauddin Khilji’s army, vast as the desert sands, encircled the fort like a tightening noose. But Chittorgarh did not bow easily. Each day, arrows flew, swords clashed, and the Rajput war cry echoed against the granite hills. On the eve of the final battle, Maharana Ratan Singh stood before his soldiers. “Tomorrow,” he declared, “we fight not for victory, but for honour.” That night, the women of the fort, dressed in the saffron of sacrifice, prepared for the terrible ritual of jauhar. Flames roared in the subterranean chambers as Padmavati, her face calm yet resolute, stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the immortal sky. When dawn came, the gates of Chittorgarh swung wide, and the Rajputs rode out—steel in hand, death in heart. The clash was fierce, but the fate of the fort was sealed. By sunset, the walls stood silent again, watching over the ashes of courage.Centuries passed. Today, visitors wander the fort’s ancient paths, touch the cool stone of the Vijay Stambh, and feel the air hum with the spirit of Chittorgarh. The last flame still flickers—in the heartbeats of those who remember.

Chittorgarh Fort is the largest fort in India, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a symbol of Rajput valor and pride. Located in the city of Chittorgarh, it sits atop a 180-meter-high hill and spans 700 acres. The fort has a tumultuous history, having been besieged three times, and is renowned for the courageous and tragic events that took place within its walls.

If you're looking for an unforgettable piece of Rajasthan's history, make the trip to Chittorgarh Fort. It's a massive place—more like a historic walled town than just a fort—and it holds some of the most dramatic and important stories of Rajput valor and sacrifice. Visitor Highlights: The fort is built on a huge hill, so be prepared for a long day of exploring. You definitely need a car or hired rickshaw/taxi to get around the 7km loop inside the walls. Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower): This is the fort's centerpiece. It's a nine-story tower covered in really detailed carvings of Hindu gods. If you can, take the narrow stairs up—the view from the top overlooking the fort and the city below is fantastic and worth the climb! Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame): A beautiful seven-story tower built by a Jain merchant centuries ago. It’s smaller than the Vijay Stambh but just as intricate and a great spot for photos. Rana Kumbha Palace: Walk through the extensive ruins of this old palace. It gives you a great sense of the past royal life (and a lot of open space). Rani Padmini's Palace: The setting is peaceful. It's beautiful to see the palace complex reflected in the calm water of the reservoir—it gives a good idea of the scenic beauty that existed alongside the fort’s dramatic history. Meera temple, Jain temples, Gaumukh sarovar, Shiva temple, etc. are added attractions. Get a Guide: Hire a local guide. The fort is huge, and without someone telling you the stories behind the ruins (especially about Rani Padmini), you'll miss 80% of the experience. Time Commitment: Plan on giving this place 3-4 hours, minimum. It’s not something you rush. Comfort is Key: Wear comfortable shoes and take water. It gets hot, and there's a lot of walking involved, even with a car.

Chittorgarh Fort is highly reviewed as a must-visit historical landmark and a symbol of Rajput valor and sacrifice. Visitors praise its massive scale, grand architecture, and rich history. Architecture and Key Attractions: The fort is vast, featuring several key attractions within its premises. Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower): A 9-story tower built by Maharana Kumbha, frequently mentioned as a major highlight. Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame): A 12th-century Jain tower dedicated to Adinath. Padmini's Palace and Rana Kumbha Palace: Palaces with intricate architecture and legendary stories attached to them. Temples and Reservoirs: Visitors appreciate the ancient temples, such as the Kalika Mata Temple and Meera Temple, and the impressive water bodies like the Gaumukh Reservoir.

This is the magical place where you get goosebumps after you enter. Hire a Guide on fort after you reach if possible as they tell you the history behind every architect like Meerabai temple, VijayStambh, jalmahal, Johar place where Rani Padmavati did Johar. Everyone in their life should visit this place to actually feel the patriotism of Shree Maharana Pratap 🙏 Don’t buy anything from handcrafts store at the end of the fort,as you will get things costly compared to Udaipur market. Take some snacks and water with you while visiting there.

The Kalika Mata Temple, dating back to the 8th century, is a Hindu shrine located within the Chittorgarh Fort. Originally dedicated to the Sun God, it was later transformed into a place of worship for Kalika, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple features intricate carvings and adornments on its ancient walls and holds great significance as a pilgrimage site for locals and visitors alike.
The temple of Kalka Mata ji is quite miraculous. It is located in a fort built in the Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. This temple is said to be several years old. When a new marriage takes place in the nearby districts, people from many communities bring the newly married couple here for darshan and also make a vow. Then on the fulfillment of the vow, puja is performed and whatever is said after the fulfillment of the wish is also done. It is close to the railway station and transport to reach here is easily available from the station. Since the temple is built on the fort, it is also a tourist destination. People come here from abroad to see the fort and the temple.

The Kalika Mata Temple is a popular Hindu temple inside the Chittaurgarh Fort complex, with many locals coming to pray when I was visiting. The temple is principally for Bhadrakali, a form of the great goddess Shakti. Purely from an aesthetic point of view, the temple is not all that interesting. There’s the usual array of relief sculptures of Hindu themes, but the walls are not as elaborately decorated as many of the other temples in the complex. Okay to visit, but I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it.

The Kalika Mata Temple in Chittorgarh is a magnificent testament to both architectural prowess and spiritual significance. As a visitor, I was enthralled by the temple's intricate design, which beautifully blends Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The temple's serene ambiance, nestled amidst the rugged Aravalli hills, offers a truly peaceful and spiritual experience. Inside the temple, the idol of Goddess Kalika Mata exudes a divine energy that's hard to put into words. The aura of devotion and the sound of hymns being chanted make for a deeply moving experience. The temple's history, dating back centuries, adds a layer of cultural richness to the visit. Furthermore, the panoramic view from the temple's hilltop location is simply breathtaking. It provides a vantage point to appreciate the grandeur of Chittorgarh fort and the surrounding landscape. The temple's upkeep and cleanliness are commendable, making it a welcoming place for both pilgrims and tourists. The friendly locals and the temple's priest, who offer insights into the temple's history and rituals, enhance the overall experience. I highly recommend a visit to the Kalika Mata Temple in Chittorgarh for anyone interested in spirituality, history, or simply seeking a tranquil escape into Rajasthan's rich heritage. It's a place that resonates with both the devout and those in search of cultural and architectural marvels.

The Maharani Padmini Palace, situated within the Chittorgarh Fort, is named after Queen Padmini of Chittorgarh. Known for her beauty and intelligence, she played a significant role in the history of the fort. The palace offers a glimpse into this historical figure's life and the events that unfolded during her time.
Padmini Mahal is a beautiful and historically rich monument, visible clearly even from 100 meters away, making it a striking sight. Situated around water, it creates a scenic and serene atmosphere that enhances its charm. I truly wished I could see it from the inside to experience its architectural beauty more closely. The mahal features several well-maintained and clean dasi rooms nearby, which add to its historical feel and authenticity. However, one downside is that the area from where visitors view the mahal is slightly dirty. The management team should take better care in maintaining cleanliness at this spot to preserve the overall experience of such a stunning heritage site.

During my visit to Sawaliya Seth Temple, I decided to take a short detour to Chittorgarh, and that’s how I ended up at Padmini Mahal. I had heard the name before, but standing there, looking at the structure and the water around it, gave a much deeper feeling than I expected. The mahal isn’t grand in size, but the calmness of the place speaks volumes. It’s surrounded by a water tank, and the reflection of the old structure in the still water adds to its beauty. I just stood for a while near the railing, looking at the central pavilion and imagining how it must have looked in its prime. There was a guide nearby talking about Rani Padmini’s legendary story, and though I wasn’t part of the group, I overheard enough to feel that mix of pride and sadness Chittorgarh is known for. The story, the view, the silence — all of it made me pause for longer than I had planned. If you’ve already come as far as Sawaliya Seth, it’s really worth spending a little extra time to explore places like this in Chittorgarh Fort. Padmini Mahal may not be the largest monument, but it leaves a quiet impression that stays with you.

This stunning palace, steeped in history, is a tribute to the legendary Rani Padmini of Mewar, whose beauty and courage are celebrated in Rajput lore. Built in the 13th century, it sits gracefully by a serene lotus pool, offering breathtaking views of the fort and surrounding hills. The intricate architecture, with delicate jharokhas and stone carvings, transports you to a royal era. The guides shared captivating stories of Padmini’s bravery and the fort’s historic sieges, making the visit unforgettable. The peaceful ambiance was perfect for soaking in the rich heritage.

Padmini Palace, also known as Rani Padmavati Palace, is one of the most iconic attractions inside the Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Rani Padmini (Padmavati) was a 13th–14th century queen of the Kingdom of Mewar, renowned for her beauty, dignity, and valor. The palace stands as a symbol of her legendary story and the pride of Mewar’s royal heritage. The palace is beautifully designed and is surrounded by water, giving it a serene and almost floating appearance. The reflection of the palace in the water creates a mesmerizing view, making it a perfect spot for photography and sightseeing. Visitors can explore the palace in about 20–30 minutes, and every corner offers a glimpse into the rich history and architectural elegance of that era. An entry ticket is required to visit, and the palace is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The surroundings are clean and well maintained, and the site provides a peaceful environment amidst the historical grandeur of Chittorgarh Fort. Overall, Padmini Palace is a must-visit destination for history lovers, photographers, and anyone who wants to experience the romantic and royal charm of Mewar’s glorious past

Maharani Padmini's Palace is a historic site in Chittorgarh Fort, Rajasthan, associated with the legend of Queen Padmini and her "Jauhar" (self-immolation) to protect her honor from Alauddin Khilji. The three-storied white palace is uniquely situated in the middle of a lotus pool, symbolizing Rajput pride and sacrifice.
Sumit D — Google review
The Maharani Padmini Palace is an essential stop within Chittorgarh Fort. You visit not just for the architecture, but to stand at the place where a pivotal, emotional moment in Mewar history is said to have occurred. It's a poignant and beautiful spot that connects you deeply to the valor and legends of Rajasthan. The Legend: The palace is the central location for the tragic and iconic tale of Rani Padmini, Maharana Ratan Singh, and Sultan Alauddin Khilji. The entire site is imbued with the story of the queen's defiance and the subsequent Jauhar (ritual mass self-immolation) of 16,000 Rajput women. Visitors come primarily to connect with this powerful history of honor and sacrifice. The Mirror Chamber: The most famous attraction is the small pavilion area from where Alauddin Khilji was allegedly permitted to glimpse Rani Padmini's reflection in a mirror (or the pool water), which led to his obsession and the eventual siege of the fort. This specific spot is often a key point of narration for guides. 2. Architectural Highlights Jal Mahal Concept: The palace is a unique, three-storied white stone structure surrounded by a beautiful lotus pond/water moat. This architectural feature—a palace surrounded by water (Jal Mahal)—was a distinctive Rajput style, and Padmini Palace is considered one of its early and finest examples, designed to keep the interiors cool during summer. Aesthetic: The architecture is characterized by its elegance and distinctly feminine style, with delicate arches, intricate carvings, and chhatris (domed pavilions) crowning the roof. Its simplicity, combined with the serene water setting, creates a quiet, contemplative atmosphere.
Prashant P — Google review
The legend of Rani Padmini is one of the most poignant tales in Indian history, and her palace in Chittorgarh Fort stands as a haunting tribute to her story. While the historical accuracy of the tale is debated by scholars, the palace itself remains a powerful symbol of Rajput honor, sacrifice, and the famous 'Jauhar' ritual. A visit to this palace is less about its architecture and more about connecting with the powerful narrative it represents. The palace, a beautiful three-story white structure, is located on the southern part of the fort. It is strategically positioned in the middle of a lotus pool, a design element that adds to its mystique and offers a glimpse into a time of royal privacy and security. The reflection of the palace in the water is a sight to behold, creating a serene and captivating scene that belies its tragic past. The surrounding water body and the intricate Rajput architecture, with its delicate arches and beautiful jharokhas (balconies), make it a fascinating subject for photographs. The most famous part of the palace is a small, elevated pavilion where, according to legend, Alauddin Khilji was allowed to glimpse Rani Padmini's reflection in a mirror. It is said that this single glimpse of her beauty drove his obsession, leading to the devastating siege of the fort in 1303 CE. Today, a guide will still stand at the same spot and demonstrate the angle, allowing visitors to visualize the famous scene. This specific moment of the story, even if a romanticized part of folklore, is what gives the palace its immense emotional weight and draws countless visitors. While the palace is smaller compared to other royal residences within the fort, its significance is unparalleled. It is here that Rani Padmini and thousands of other women are believed to have committed 'Jauhar,' choosing self-immolation over dishonor at the hands of the invading army. The ruined state of the palace adds to this somber atmosphere, making it a place of solemn reflection rather than a cheerful tourist spot. Visiting Rani Padmini's Palace is a unique experience. It’s not just about exploring an old building; it's about standing on the very ground where a monumental act of courage is said to have occurred. The palace serves as a tangible link to a story that has been passed down through generations, symbolizing the unyielding spirit of the Rajputs. It reminds us that history is not just a collection of facts, but a tapestry of human emotions, sacrifices, and legends that continue to inspire and resonate even today. 👍🏻🩷

The Meera Temple, a stunning walled and gated complex, is a central part of the Chittorgarh Fort UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its quiet, dignified atmosphere provides a captivating glimpse into India’s rich spiritual and architectural past. The architecture is a magnificent example of the Nagara style. Its towering shikhara and intricately carved exterior walls depict various deities and celestial beings, showcasing remarkable artistic skill and attention to detail. Historically, the temple is most famous for its connection to the devout poet-princess Mirabai. Her unwavering faith in Lord Krishna is said to have been the driving force behind the temple’s construction and spiritual importance. A separate structure, likely a Vishnu temple, stands nearby, complementing the main shrine. Together, the temples serve as a testament to the diverse spiritual traditions and devotional fervour of the era. This temple is a must-see for its historical depth and architectural grandeur. It perfectly encapsulates the blend of religious devotion and artistic excellence that defines the Chittorgarh Fort.

The Meera Temple, located within the monumental Chittorgarh Fort, is a site of paramount spiritual and historical importance, dedicated to the legendary 16th-century mystic poet-saint, Meera Bai. The temple stands not just as a religious structure, but as a powerful, enduring symbol of unwavering devotion (Bhakti) that defied royal and societal conventions The Meera Temple showcases an elegant and refined example of the prevailing North Indian temple style, with noteworthy artistic elements. Architectural Style: The temple is built in the classic Indo-Aryan (Nagara) architectural style, characterized by an elevated plinth, an entrance porch (ardha mandapa), a hall (mandapa), and a towering, tiered shikhara (spire) over the sanctum (Garbagriha). Exterior Carvings: The walls and pillars are adorned with intricate and beautiful carvings. These sculptures do not merely serve a decorative purpose; they act as a visual narrative, depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, the life of Lord Krishna, and the devotion of Meera Bai herself. Symbolic Sculpture: A particularly unique and profound carving found at the entrance is that of five human bodies sharing a single head. This powerful symbol is believed to represent the concept of universal brotherhood, harmony, and the unity of all castes and creeds, reflecting a key tenet of the Bhakti movement. Interior Sanctum: The inner sanctum houses the revered idol of Lord Krishna, which is the focus of devotion, often accompanied by a smaller representation of Meera Bai herself. The quiet interior, often filled with the fragrance of incense, promotes introspection and a sense of serenity.

Named after Maharana Fateh Singh, the palace showcases a wide array of artifacts representing the grandeur of Mewar's former rulers. The architecture reflects the Rajputana style and features numerous windows and corridors adorned with paintings from the 17th to 19th centuries.
Erection of this palace was during the reign of Rana Fateh Singh. It lies within the Chittorgarh Fort. The palace served as Rana’s residence. Rana Fateh Singh intended to showcase his inclination towards art and culture through this construction. The palace is studded with numerous corridors and pillars built in Rajasthani style. It is beautifully decorated with wall paintings showcasing legends from Rajasthan belonging to the 17th. and 19th.centuries. In 1968, a large portion of Fateh Prakash Palace was converted into a museum. There is a separate section dedicated for the display of the weapons used during that period. Such as helmets, knives, shields, axes, farsa etc. Uniforms of the persuasive soldiers of Chittorgarh are also on display. Must visit to relive the lives liven by soldiers and kings. Plenty of old weapons , cloths , shields, armour and many other things are kept. Ticket price for kids are 12/- and adult are 22/-.

One of the finest carved palace in Chhitorgrah, there's a museum where you can see various kind of weapons and armory such as Swords, shields, Costumes, knives and the most impressive Guns. The lenght of guns are like 5-6 foot other than that there were modern revolvers and pistols as well. Other than that, fine paintings were drawn about various historical events with information. And i think this one is the same palace where some scenes of a movie shooted not sure about that. Ticket is just ₹30.

Palace now turned into museum is a marvellous architectural creation. Now a museum has various historic items of kings that is armour gallery, different type of old gun collection used at that time. Arrows and armours used during the war. The items kept are not original but tried their best to make it look like real.
Abhi C — Google review
This is a very nice museum and would suggest the people who are interested in artillery and history to visit this since there are so many historical weapons like swords, armours, guns, arrows, shields and many more It would only take 30 min if you visit this and for a detailed visit where you read everything and understand all the history then it would take around an hour since there is a room dedicated to the history of the place where all the names of the kings are written and the attacks on the palace is also written over there
Mahit M — Google review
Nothing extraordinary... however you get a glimpse of the history and significance of the fort. The entry ticket of Rs. 22 for adults is not justified though. It only has a few halls displaying weapons of the bygone era, nothing much.

Calm and serene place and boat riding adds amazing memory.
Narendra P — Google review
Inside the palace, many essential materials of the ancient period are kept, which were used in its time. The view here is very beautiful.🙂🙂🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 👍But outside the palace you will find some horsemen who will ask you to take photographs. Beware of them. In the beginning, they will lure you and tell you less money. Later you will be hit with more bills. That's why the careful government should take strict action against them so that foreign tourists don't face any inconvenience.
Ajay K — Google review
You get a good idea of the history and importance of the place from this museum. Few to many artefacts are repeated in display but overall it's worth the visit at very nominal charges. But need to take exact change, online payment often doesn't work or is not available.

The dining experience at Rajasthan Restaurant was exceptional. The quality of the food surpassed expectations, and the interaction with both the manager and staff was commendable. If I were to return to Chittor, I would definitely choose to dine at this establishment again, as my friends also thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Moreover, this restaurant boasts a pristine atmosphere and affordable prices which make it an ideal choice for visitors. It is highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful culinary experience in Rajasthan.
I had my favorite food, Palak Paneer. However, I didn't like it at all in the Rajasthan restaurant, so I didn't finish it.

Our visit to Chittaurgarh was wonderful except for a very unpleasant experience at a restaurant called Rajasthan. They overcharged us by adding higher rates in the bill, and it looked like they were working with drivers who bring in customers. Such dishonest practices completely ruin the trust and defame the true spirit of hospitality that Rajasthan is known for
Devendra P — Google review
Food quality is not so good. We eat dal bhati churma. Gatte ki sabji was very spices. Kurry was very bad. Not a single piece of dry fruit in churma. Waste of money.

Had the worst experience at this restaurant… First they made us wait for more than 30 minutes… and the food was not even worth the wait and money…service was poor…
Netra T — Google review
The food here was bad enough, their worker's attitude was off to another level. Idk what kind of chef they have but the gravy and sabji was awful. I would not recommend anyone to eat here and waste their money.
Piyush D — Google review
I had a very bad experience at a restaurant named Rajasthan in Chittaurgarh. They fooled us by making bills with higher rates than the actual price. The restaurant seems to use drivers to bring in customers and then pays them, while charging extra money from guests. This practice not only cheats visitors but also spoils the image of Chittaurgarh’s hospitality. Totally disappointing!

Our trip to Chittaurgarh was memorable except for dining at Rajasthan restaurant. They overcharged us and misled us with inflated billing. Such practices give a bad impression of the city’s hospitality.

I wish to register a complaint against Rajasthan restaurant, Chittaurgarh. They deliberately charged us more than the actual rates and misused tourist drivers to trap visitors. This is unacceptable.

Rana Kumbha Palace (Chittorgarh Fort) Review The Rana Kumbha Palace is one of the most substantial and historically dense monuments within the Chittorgarh Fort. While it is largely a complex of ruins, its sheer size and the profound legends associated with it make it an unmissable part of your visit. 1. The Scale and Architecture (The Ruins) Largest Structure: This palace is the largest monument in the Chittorgarh Fort complex, revealing the massive scale and opulence it once held. Architectural Style: Built predominantly with unplastered sandstone, the palace is a fine example of early Rajput architecture, featuring two grand entryways (the Suraj Pol and Tripolia Gate), spacious courtyards, and a series of interconnected buildings. Look for the remnants of its canopied balconies and detailed stone work. The Atmosphere: The palace's current ruined state actually adds to its dramatic and imposing feel. Walking through the fragmented walls and chambers evokes a strong sense of a bygone, powerful era. 2. The Historical Legends and Key Spots The palace is a focal point for some of the most heart-wrenching and heroic stories in Rajput history, which a guide will help bring to life: The Jauhar Spot: It is believed that the vast underground cellars (now blocked) beneath the palace complex were the location where Rani Padmini and other royal women performed Jauhar (mass self-immolation) during the 1303 siege by Alauddin Khilji. This area is highly significant for its somber historical weight. The Birthplace of Udai Singh: The palace is associated with the incredible sacrifice of Panna Dhai, the nurse who saved the life of infant prince Udai Singh (the future founder of Udaipur) by sacrificing her own son. Residence of Saints and Kings: The palace was home to the legendary Bhakti poetess Princess Meerabai (the Meera Temple is nearby) and, of course, the great warrior Maharana Kumbha, who renovated and enlarged the original structure built by Bappa Rawal. Inner Buildings: Within the sprawling ruins, you can identify the stables for horses and elephants, the Zanana Mahal (women's quarters), the Diwan-i-Aam (hall of public audience), the Shiva Temple, and the Nau Lakha Bhandar (royal treasury building). 3. Visitor Experience and Tips Immersion: Since it is mostly ruins, your experience heavily relies on a knowledgeable guide to narrate the associated legends and point out the significant spots (like the supposed path to the Jauhar cellars or the Meerabai section). Location within the Fort: The palace is located early in the fort itinerary, near the main gates and close to the Fateh Prakash Palace Museum and the Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower). Light and Sound Show: A light and sound show is hosted in the evening nearby, which uses the history of the fort, including the Rana Kumbha Palace, to tell the story of Chittorgarh.

Rana Kumbha Palace is a very old and partly damaged structure inside Chittorgarh Fort. It’s open from 9 AM to 6 PM, and the visit takes about 10–30 minutes. The palace offers a beautiful view of the fort city and gives a true feel of ancient Rajput architecture. Built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century, this palace is linked to Rani Padmini’s Johar and Meera Bai’s devotion to Lord Krishna. Though in ruins today, it still reflects the royal glory and sacrifice of Chittorgarh’s brave past.

Based on your previous request, here is the English translation of the review about Rana Kumbha Palace in Chittorgarh Fort: A Review of Rana Kumbha's Palace in Chittorgarh Located within the majestic Chittorgarh Fort, Rana Kumbha's Palace is a living example of Rajasthan's glorious history and architectural prowess. Although the palace lies in ruins today, its grandeur and historical significance continue to captivate every visitor. The palace was originally reconstructed in the 15th century by Maharana Kumbha, a ruler known for his patronage of arts and culture. Upon entering the palace complex, the Surya Pol (Sun Gate) and Tripoliya Gate (Triple Gate) immediately hint at its former splendor. As you walk further in, the ruined courtyards, corridors, and structures transport you back to a magnificent era. The intricate carvings on the walls and the design of the arches showcase the remarkable skill of Rajput architecture. The most compelling aspect of Rana Kumbha's Palace is the historical tales that echo through every corner. It is believed that it was in the underground cellars of this very palace that Rani Padmini, along with thousands of other women, committed 'Jauhar' in 1303 CE to escape capture during Alauddin Khilji's invasion. This event has become a powerful symbol of Rajput pride and sacrifice. A section of the palace was also the residence of Rani Meera Bai, who was famous for her devotion to Lord Krishna. The essence of her devotional songs can still be felt within the walls of this palace. This is also where Panna Dhai sacrificed her own son to save the life of the young prince Udai Singh, who later founded the city of Udaipur. Despite its dilapidated state, the palace is filled with layers of history. From here, you can see a beautiful view of the Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory), which Maharana Kumbha built to commemorate his victory over Sultan Mahmud Khilji of Malwa. This sight must have once symbolized the power and triumph of the kings who lived here. Walking through the palace ruins allows you to turn the pages of history. For some tourists, this might just seem like a pile of rubble, but for those with an interest in history, it is an unforgettable experience. The desolate structures and empty spaces give you a chance to feel the events of a time when this palace was a witness to royal life, battles, and sacrifices. In summary, Rana Kumbha's Palace is not just a building but a priceless relic of Chittorgarh's glorious past. This place narrates the saga of the valor, sacrifice, and artistry of the Rajputs. If you visit Chittorgarh, make sure to see this palace, because only here can you truly understand the real history and emotions of this fort. 👍🏻

Historically important building to visit. Now its all ruins but one can imagine the vastness and beauty of the palace then. Fort campus is neatly maintained. However, beware of local auto guys as they charge hefty amount to show the nearby monuments by bluffing that all the monuments are about 17km away and it will take 3 to 4 hrs by auto. All major buildings are just within 1 km and all young people should be able to walk between them very easily, even along with kids.

of Royal History – A Must-See Inside Kumbhalgarh Fort 👑 Rana Kumbha Palace is one of the most fascinating parts of Kumbhalgarh Fort, filled with stories of bravery, mystery, and royal heritage. The palace stands as a proud reminder of the grandeur of the Mewar dynasty. Its massive courtyards, secret chambers, and old stone walls whisper tales from centuries ago. Walking through its ancient corridors gives you a glimpse into how the royals once lived — simple yet majestic. The view from the palace is breathtaking, offering a wide panorama of the Aravalli hills and the endless fort walls stretching into the horizon. It’s also known as the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, which makes it even more historically significant. The architecture, though worn with age, still reflects remarkable craftsmanship and strength. Tips: Go early to explore peacefully and take good photos. Wear sturdy shoes, as the climb and pathways are uneven. Combine your visit with the light & sound show for a complete historical experience. A visit to chittorgarh Fort isn’t complete without exploring Rana Kumbha Palace — it’s where history truly comes alive. 🏰✨

Rana Kumbha Palace, located inside the mighty Chittorgarh Fort UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of its oldest and most historically significant structures. Built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, it served as the royal residence and administrative seat of Mewar. The palace, though partly in ruins today, still reflects grandeur through its massive stone walls, gateways, courtyards, and underground cellars. Its architecture embodies Rajput strength blended with subtle elegance. This palace is eternally linked with the heroic tale of Rani Padmini and the women of Mewar, who performed Jauhar here to protect honor during Alauddin Khilji’s siege. It also served as a strategic stronghold, safeguarding rulers and warriors during turbulent times of invasion. Today, visitors explore its ruins, feeling the echoes of Rajput valor, sacrifice, and resilience that shaped Rajasthan’s glorious past.

Located at the entry point of Chittor Fort, it is known for its delicious dal bati choorma thali and other Rajasthani specialties. The restaurant also serves Punjabi and Gujarati food.
This is a gem just beside historic Chittorgarh fort. After visiting the fort we went there for lunch around 5pm, and we had a blast... We tried there authentic Rajasthani Dishes ker sangri, Gatte ki sabzi, papdi ki sabji along with Missi Roti and Bazre ki Roti... Ker sangri was a top notch delicacy. Specially the food made here taste just like "GHAR KA KHANA". Also thanks to the owner they gave us complimentary churma(another authentic Rajasthani delicacy) as the dessert. In short this one of the great experience I had in Rajasthan

Small restaurant near the foothills. Seating space is limited and congested. Seemed a bit overhyped. Price is high in comparison to quantity served. A small plate of plane rice costs 120 rs. Thali costs rs 350-390. Food taste is ok. Pure vegetarian restaurant.

And then completed with a glass of chhaas (buttermilk) and a sweet churma. Excellent 👌
