Beautiful temple with very beautiful architecture. Narmada river is also near the temple, some people also go boating there, the cost of which is Rs.50/- and children do not have to pay the ticket till the age of 12. You all can enjoy boating there. Do visit such a beautiful and peaceful place at least once in your life.

A good place where you can go with family and friends. Nicely maintained, clean and not too far from the city. The view is very nice. The ghat is superb location for photoshoot. You can also do boating here. the temples are very old and the architecture is eye catching. Looks like a film set. A must visit place when you are in Indore.

Lovely place. Great architecture. Superb carvings. Grand design. Intricate carvings. Hope it was maintained better. There are no washrooms around. People would pay for visits so that money required for maintenance can be raised. Someone built it long ago and it's a shame that we cannot maintain...

The beautiful temple located in Ahilyabai fort at the bank of Narvada River in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh.. Temple is dedicated to Ahalya Bai Holkar, the Rajamata and later the ruling queen of Indore within the Maratha Empire. She established Maheshwar (in Madhya Pradesh) as the seat of the Holkar Dynasty.

Ahilya Devi Maheshwar Fort Maheshwar

Fortress
Museum
Ahilya Devi Maheshwar Fort, a 16th century architectural marvel, was the residential place of the great queen Ahalya Bai Holkar. Situated on the banks of Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh, India, it offers a spectacular view and is often compared to Varanasi due to its similar Ghat structures. The fort has been transformed into a heritage hotel and now includes a research center focusing on the history and culture of the royal family.
My visit to Maheshwar was truly memorable. The serene Narmada River, the majestic Ahilya Fort, and the beautiful ghats reflected royal charm. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy lives on through the grand temples and her contributions to the town. The peaceful atmosphere and historic beauty made it an unforgettable experience.
Atul P — Google review
Ahilya Devi Maheshwar Fort is a must-visit place in Maheshwar. The architecture is stunning – you will notice unique patterns and designs, including carvings of men wearing fetas (turbans) standing as dwarpals (gatekeepers). The vibe of the fort is truly wonderful. There is also a Shiva temple inside, but its main door was closed during my visit. On the other side, you can see temples of Ram, Sita, and Hanuman ji. Climbing up the fort gives you a spectacular view – on one side the Narmada River, and on the other the grand fort itself. The atmosphere is peaceful and culturally rich. However, I do feel the management should focus more on cleanliness and proper maintenance, as this is a historic monument. I also saw pre-wedding shoots happening here. Personally, it felt odd, since this place represents our cultural heritage and history. While it may be allowed by management, such activities should be reconsidered to preserve the sanctity of the site. When you go down towards the ghats, you’ll find a beautiful river view, small temples, and devotees taking a holy bath in the Narmada. The entire experience is divine and memorable.
Manali M — Google review
Ahilya Fort, in the central Indian town of Maheshwar, sits high above the sacred river Narmada. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar ruled here from 1765 to 1796 and built Ahilya Wada, her personal residences, offices, and darbaar audience hall, within the fort. Maheshwar located very near to Omkareshwar Jyotirling and Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling.. If you've been here, go to Maheshwar for one day. It is a very beautiful fort and peaceful place with some recreational activities along the Narmada River......
Anupam J — Google review
Ahilya Devi Maheshwar Fort is a beautiful and peaceful place filled with history and divine energy. The architecture is stunning, and the view of the Narmada River adds to its charm. We also did darshan of Jagannathji and Parshuramji Mandir on the riverbank — both temples have a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The only issue we faced was finding proper parking for vehicles, as it gets a bit crowded. Overall, a wonderful and memorable experience! 🙏✨

One of the best tourist place in india, well maintained fort, historical place, it will take approximately 3-4 hrs to visit whole fort and Temple, take guide for visit, every evening 8 narmada aarti organised at kashi vishvnath temple, don't miss it. Fort closing time is 6:30 so better start from 4 .
Akshay S — Google review
Maheshwar fort at the bank of Maa Narmada is an epicenter of culture and spirituality. While this fort has its own charm due to its grand stature and architecture, for me the more fascinating is the stories of courage and valour of Devi Ahilliya bai. While being brave and powerful, her religious inclination and stories of reviving temples all across the India was something unique and inspiring. This town gives very different energy ant vibes. One may need almost half day to fully expore the town. Things must do in Maheshwar 1. Sit and relax on the bank of Maa Narmada 2. Visit to fort 3. Boating in River 4. Visit in Raj Rajeshwari and Kashi Vishwanath temple 5. Have local food at Banke Bihari Restaurant near ghat

Narmada ghat at maheshwar is a river side area which is made with temples for pooja in old times. It's one of the most beautiful ghat I have seen. Parking is bit issue if you are coming from maheswar market side. But if you are visiting in neutral time where there is not big gathering on ghat then that is fine. Just above the ghat there is very famous fort and the temple of Ahilyabai holkar. Must visit place. Thanks 🙏

If you're seeking a serene and spiritually enriching experience in the heart of India, look no further than the Narmada Ghat in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. This remarkable destination is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and historical charm. The Narmada Ghat is situated along the sacred Narmada River, one of the seven holy rivers in India, and its significance in Hindu mythology cannot be overstated. As you stand on the steps leading down to the river, you'll feel a profound sense of tranquility and spirituality wash over you. The architectural elegance of the ghat, with its intricately carved stone steps and ghats, showcases the rich heritage of Maheshwar and the craftsmanship of the region. One of the most captivating aspects of Narmada Ghat is the evening aarti ceremony. As the sun dips below the horizon, the ghat comes alive with the melodious chants of hymns and the flickering light of oil lamps. The aura of spirituality and devotion during this ceremony is truly enchanting, making it a must-see experience. Rajwada of Maheshar is built by the Holkars of the Maratha Empires about two centuries ago, which reflects in Maratha Architectural style dominantly , but it also show case Mughal and French trends.13 feet high Rani Ahilyaa Bai statue standing tall right at the main entrance is the special attraction of Rajwada. Rajwada is the place where Ahilyabai use to sit for administration and justice for all. Rajwada complex is best approachable from the north entrance of the fort which is called as Ahilya Dwar, one of the five gateways of the fort. Rajwada area is like a courtyard of large house. Rajwada is a two stored wooden building. The entrance to the building opens into an open corridor, surrounded by a pillared verandah on all sides. As we enter we can see an Idol of Sri Krishna flanked by two cows. The open space in the middle is full of greenery with plants like Garden. The rooms on the upper floor served as the royal residence while lower were meant for guests. At present visitors are not allowed to first floor. We can only visit lower floor where there is a small museum exhibiting objects used by Ahilya bhai. There are boards displayed which tells us briefly about Holkar's, Ahilya Bai and her works towards development of Holkar Kingdom. If you spend some time here you can understand the history of Holkar's and greatness of Rani Ahilyabai. Guests are available to show case entire fort and all nearby temples. Special attraction of the Lower floor is Rani Ahilyabai Gaddi. In one of the open corridor Rani Ahilyabai used to have her Gaddi of the court, which is left to the main entrance when you are entering in to the Rajwada. This is where she sat and listened to her people, and did justice. Now thew is Gaddi surrounded by wooden pillars with a cotton mattresses to showcase those days arrangements as is and Rani Statue is arranged here to get feel of those days. By seeing this arrangement I understood the simplicity of the Rani Ahilyabai. After visiting Rajwada Lower floor come out from the main entrance and turn towards your right while exit and there is one more entrance which takes you towards the place where Unique rituals that was put in place by Rani Ahilyabai herself and that continues till date. In her days, 108 brahmins used to create 125000 miniature Shivalinga's every day from black earth, worship them and then offer them to the Narmada River. Today, 11 Brahmins create about 15000 Shivalinga's every day, worship them, and then offer them to Narmada River. This pooja happens every day between 08:00 to 10:00 in the morning. we went there in the afternoon to we were missed the same. please plan your visit to Rajwada in the morning to witness the same.

Indore Airport is actually pretty nice — clean, organized, and generally hassle-free. The staff is polite, and everything from check-in to security usually moves quickly. It doesn’t feel chaotic like some bigger airports, which is a big plus. That said, there are still some things that could be better. There aren’t many food or coffee options once you're inside, and finding transport outside (especially late at night) can be a bit tricky. Also, not a lot of places to charge your phone. A good airport experience, but with a few improvements.

Clean, Calm, and Efficient – A Pleasant Airport Experience! Indore Airport truly surprised me in the best way. It’s very clean, peaceful, and well-managed. The airport may be smaller compared to metros, but it’s extremely organized and passenger-friendly. Security checks were smooth, and staff were polite and professional. I loved the calm atmosphere—no unnecessary crowd or chaos. The check-in process was quick, and the seating areas were comfortable and spacious. There are a few good food stalls and basic shopping options, which are perfect for short layovers or quick snacks. Washrooms were clean, and the overall maintenance of the terminal is impressive. The airport also reflects a touch of local culture, which adds to the charm. A great experience overall. Definitely one of the better regional airports in India. Well done, Indore!

The terminal is well-maintained, air-conditioned, and aesthetically pleasing, showcasing a blend of modern design with local cultural elements. Washrooms and seating areas are clean, and there are decent food and shopping options for a city of this size. Staff are courteous and helpful, and baggage delivery is usually quick. I also appreciated the overall discipline and orderliness — something not very common in many regional airports. Overall, Ahilyabai Holkar Airport gives a great first impression of Indore and reflects the city’s growing importance and sense of hospitality.

sweet and simple airport — not too big, but nicely managed. It’s easy to navigate since everything is close by, which actually makes the experience more comfortable compared to the rush at bigger airports. The cleanliness is well maintained and the waiting area is decent with enough seating. Food options are limited but good enough for a short halt. Overall, a calm little airport that gives a pleasant start or end to your journey.
