Wow stunning view over the area. Missed it two years ago (passed during the night) but now stopped during the day and it's spectacular

Very beautiful spot for relax and to enjoy the view of Palau and all island around. You could actually seat here for long time and admire the view!!

Beautiful view of the port, The different islands : La Maddelena, Santa Stefano, Spargi Corsica, Santa Maria and more. You can see all the boats, ships, ferries, coming and going. It was a 45’min walk up a paved winding road from our hotel “Club Esse Posada”We had to be careful of cars as usual but it was a good walk. At the top there are benches.
Donna N — Google review
Honestly the view is not that nice. Your pictures will have at the bottom some garbage and dry sand and on the top part clean water and fancy boats....
Stan A — Google review
Beautiful views for miles, we could even see Corsica. However watching the ferries being buffered around did change our mind about visiting the island!

Beach
Spiaggia dell'Isolotto is a popular shingle beach located just a few meters from the port in Palau. It's known for its family-friendly atmosphere, with a full-time lifeguard and shallow waters making it safe for young children. The sandy white beach and turquoise waters are just a short walk from the town center, and the adjacent pine tree forest adds to its natural beauty. Despite its proximity to the bustling harbor, the beach maintains a peaceful ambiance and offers free parking.
This is an excellent family friendly shingle beach ⛱️ not huge but has a full time life guard and there is a natural rock reef about 20-30 meters into the water and for a small child (5-6yrs) the water is no deeper than shoulder height. All the families around seem to be locals and there is parking right allow the beach front this a little diamond of a beach.

Night market
The Mercato Serale di Palau is a delightful evening market that showcases the charm of Sardinia. Nestled next to a spacious parking area, which is free after 8 PM, this vibrant market features an array of stalls brimming with local crafts and delicacies. Visitors can explore everything from traditional sweets and coral jewelry to unique Sardinian knives and artisanal honey. It's a perfect spot for picking up souvenirs or gifts, including beautiful stones for collectors.
Thanks to this wonderful evening at night market Palau. Coming from Corea i'm not used to find very good quality at markets like here. Typical and local products like red Sardinian coral, black obsidian, pottery cork works, liquors, original knives hand made. Very recommended.

(Translated by Google) The most beautiful evening market in Sardinia! There is a large car park next door, which we didn't pay for after 8pm. The stands are large and accurate. Sweets, coral and Sardinian knives, various crafts... I found some stones for my collection and various little gifts. There was a concert in a nearby square. If you are in the area I absolutely recommend it!

(Translated by Google) The Palau market, both in its daytime version (every Friday all year round from 8.00am to 1.30pm) and in its evening version (from 1st June to 30th September), full of music and lights, can give small and large emotions and represent a excellent diversionary pastime to make your walk in the port area even more complete. Of modest size but absolutely varied, it starts from Via Fontevecchia, branching out progressively along the coast that runs alongside the tourist port. The market is a meting pot that alternates the traditional nature of typical Sardinian products at km0 with stands of emerging brands, trinkets, local craftsmanship and delicatessens. Of note is the very vernacular (and very true) stall selling hunting knives, bolts and leather belts, small corners linked to ethical clothing and green fashion with creations in linen and hand-printed natural fabrics by emerging brands and designers who also have small showroom in San Pantaleo (where an important and very crowded market is notoriously held), jewelery clutch bags in lurex and coral and the inevitable Casa del Formaggio stand, always very crowded. The rest is a confusing pile of baskets, bric à brac, knick-knacks and souvenirs of dubious taste for tourists. Compared to its pulsating and noisy daytime version, the evening market of Palau has an almost modest and more disorderly tone: unfortunately the choice is drastically reduced, as is the variety of products (and often also their quality), but if you are However, the area is worth taking a tour around... who knows, you might find the gem you've been looking for for a long time!

(Translated by Google) Small night walk where all the Sardinians gather after dinner time. There are quite a few artisanal confections there but also counterfeit products so be careful. There you can find red coral (counterfeit of course!), linen or cashmere scarves, summer dresses and swimsuits, and even wood sculptures. The Friday morning market is a more interesting alternative because it offers more products and merchants. Beware of merchants who bring their dogs and mistreat them as soon as they want to approach passers-by who find them adorable... Le marche du vendredi matin est une alternative plus interessante car il offre plus de produits et de marchands. Spiaggia de La Sciumara is a stunning beach located in Palau, Sardinia. With its clear waters and sandy shore, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and even La Maddalena Island in the distance. This nearly 500-meter-long beach faces north and is a popular spot for visitors seeking natural beauty and tranquility.
Spiaggia de La Sciumara is very nice! You can rent umbrellas with chairs at a good price. There’s parking, it’s easy to get to, and the water is amazing! The day we went was breezy, so the water was a bit cold, but still so worth it. The sea was flat!!

La Fortezza di Monte Altura offers a guided tour for a fee, providing visitors with an informative 40-minute experience. The fortress allows dogs and boasts stunning views of La Maddalena and Palau. Visitors recommend reserving the tour in advance to secure a spot and enjoy the charismatic and knowledgeable guides. The historical significance of the fort and its surroundings, along with the captivating view from the top, make it a worthwhile excursion.
Very informative and interesting. Stunning views . You can learn so much about history of this place and history of Sardinia and Olbia ! Highly recommended

The most beautiful military fortress in Europe, so defined since its construction, it really is a sight to see. This 19th-century bastion was built to help defend the north coast and archipelago di La Maddalena from invasion – something it was never called on to do. It.s easy to get to - 3 km out of Palau and the 45 minute tour will teach you a lot of interesting things about the history of Europe, not only Sardinia. Totally wotth it. And the views are amazing, you can see even Corsica.
Bogdan B — Google review
Very nice fortress from 1890, never bombed. There are no artifacts to show, but it s still worth the visit. The guided tour is great, the view fantastic. you can visit only with guided tour starting every .15. You can buy the ticket online or in the ticket office.
Éva U — Google review
Alessandro gave us a wonderful tour of this amazing fort. The history is fascinating, especially the method of protecting the munitions below ground and transporting the artillery up the large ramp. Alessandro is full of other interesting local knowledge such as the numerous dialects spoken in the area, the geological mechanisms causing the small caverns and holes in the pink granite. Overall a visit well worth the effort.
Hamilton H — Google review
The fortress looks unique with it's big ramp. Also it's wonderfully preserved. We arrived at around 10 am on Sunday. The staff arrived almost the same time as us. He told us that they had a tour which started at 10:15 in both English and Italian and it was included in the ticket of 5 euro. The tour was good. The guide explained everything interestingly. I told him that on another tour, I heard Napoleon attacked the islands, however they didn't go in much detail. Therefore he explained the battle very thoroughly. It was very interesting, because this was the cause for this fortress to be build.
Richard H — Google review
A very well conserved place with beautiful view of the all bay. The guide was very nice and the cost just 5€
Nicolas T — Google review
The final stop was a nineteenth century artillery fort, built on a hilltop overlooking the port of Palau. We parked in the large car park and went to the ticket office which was closed. The next tour was in 30 minutes so we had a wander around the hillside and enjoyed the views, rock formations and wild poppies. 30 minutes came and went and still no staff so after an hour we walked up to the fort and spoke to the guide who said she'd next do another tour in 45 minutes time. We didn't want to wait that long so drove on to Olbia, rather frustrated as we could have visited somewhere else and it was a 2.5 hour round trip wasted.
Marcus H — Google review
Absolute gem of a visit. Phillip, our guide spoke in English, German and Italian to meet the needs of our varied group. So grateful to get a taste of local history and information from this visit! Worth every penny!

Beach
Cala di Trana is a stunning beach tucked away in a secluded spot accessible solely by sea or a 30-40 minute trek. Located at coordinates 41.1988774, 9.3367813, the route to the beach took approximately 35 minutes on foot. It is important to conduct thorough research and use a hiking app as there are multiple paths leading nowhere, lack of signposts and few markers indicating the correct way.
Beautiful and clean and clear sand beach. We walked 40 min from La porta del Paradiso. On the way you will Pass two Other little beautiful beaches. Wear good shoes as you will pass rocks and thorny plants.
Husa J — Google review
A gorgeous beach, kept very quiet by the fact it is only reachable by sea, or a 30-40 min hike. We parked at 41.1988774, 9.3367813 (Google Maps coordinates) and it took us 35 mins to walk to the beach. There are multiple paths that lead to nowhere so make sure you do your research and download a hiking app that can show you the way, as there are no signposts and very little markings to show you you are on the right route. However, it is well worth the effort as the large beach is generally quiet and is lapped by clear, turquoise water. Due to its sheltered location, it also doesn’t suffer from the strong westerly winds.
Steven M — Google review
Start your route at La porta del paradiso. There is a free parking space. Wear shoes for the hike, no flip flops. It's 1.3km to walk. It's not a big challenge except the heat it you walk in the midday and in the sun. Try to walk with Google maps. You can see the path. Perfect empty beach, went in mid September. Some boats do a stop there. But nothing compared to the other overtourism beaches
Simon K — Google review
Top experience! Foresee some good shoes to reach the beach but then you’re in for a treat!
Maximilien R — Google review
Fantastica! One of the best beaches in north Sardegna. You need to have good directions and be able to walk and hike for about 45 minutes under the sun each way. But worth it!
M H — Google review
Beautiful beach ⛱️ You have to walk a little trail to the beach.
Patrick B — Google review
Nice and quiet beach, until a tour boat shows up and drops off an entire army of tourists. When there are no tour boats, you'll have an almost private beach, since it's only accessible by boat

Only had coffee, which was nice.illy coffee is the best 🙌 The waitress on the other hand was very distracted and unfriendly. She was on her phone texting privatly, even when taking orders. Her English was very poor. But even ordering in italian she brought regular coffee instead of decaf. Never seen such an unmotivated young lady. The place itself is pretty nice inside. Outside okay.

Was several times there for coffee. I chose always coffee americano and it was always good. You can sit outside with a good view to the boats & yachts. The personal was very friendly and courteous. Have no idea about the food. A friend of mine took also a snack and was very satisfied. Can totally recommend that location.

Love this little cafe — it has great cocktails and wine selections, as well as some light food options. The staff is attentive, professional and upbeat! I’ve visited several times over last two years when I visit Sardegna, and will visit again when I come back!

The "One" place to avoid, unless you want to be treated like something that the cat brought in. When in a party of 5, two people are served 10 minutes after the others (waiting for an orange squeeze, not for something "exotic"...) and you complain, you will be told that you are rude and disrespectful. The cherry on the cake is the joke of the two pieces of bread with salami and olives to come with their so called aperitivo... Utterly ridiculous. All of it for 28 euros and a ruined evening. Well done!

Piano bar in the centre of Palau on the harbour side. Sadly no one was playing the piano when we visited. Caters more for the older crowd and by that I mean if you want a quieter location to enjoy your wine, cocktail or lager beer then this is it. Service is excellent with the staff being very attentive with crisps or nuts and olives as a side to accompany your drinks. Covered outdoor seating and plenty inside, no loud music but still a very pleasant relaxing atmosphere. A great selection of wines are available and the prices are on a par with neighbouring bars and restaurants 🥂🍹🍷🍸👍.

Ristorante C'era Una Volta is an outstanding dining establishment that offers a remarkable experience. Situated on the beach, it boasts an exquisite wine selection and a concise menu. The staff is extremely attentive, professional, and friendly. The restaurant surprises its patrons with unique flavors and creative dish presentations. The chef personally attends to the fish, ensuring juicy, perfectly seasoned, and tender servings. Every aspect of the meal is flawless - even the bread maintains its freshness and crispness.
Incredibly delicious foods! We ate 8 formaggi plate with very unique cheese, cacio e pepe, lamb meat ball with local wine. Everything was super delicious. Francesco, the owner was really kind. Highly recommended restaurant.

We arrived first into the restaurant at 7pm and wanted to sit next to the panoramic view. There were 2 tables there both for 4 people. The waiter did not let us sit there saying that is for 4 guests only... 5 minutes later a couple came, they were drunk and loud and wanted to sit there too. The waitress did not want to let them to sit over there, but the couple was aggressive and loud, so they sit there. They asked for prosecco and a huge fish plate, so they were served very well... We felt this behavior unpolite and unprofessional. 10 minutes later a German couple came and wanted to sit also close to the panorama, they were also not allowed to do so. For the whole dinner time nobody was sitting at the other table with panorama. Shame on the service! The coperto was 4 EUR, this place was expensive with no service and overpriced food. The food was quite OK,but in my seafood risotto it was difficult to find the seafood pieces... Tiramisu with dry biscuits and too much abracadabra by serving it.

Absolut Diamond!!! We noticed the restaurant while were walking along the beach. Great selection of wine, compact menu, very attentive, professional and friendly staff. We were shocked by unusual tastes and dishes presentation. The chef came out personally to cut up the fish - juicy, perfectly seasoned and tender. Everything was perfect, even the bread was fresh and crispy as it should be. Both deserts were made fresh. Definitely we will come back!!!

One of the most wonderful lunch ever. Intimate (about 7-8 tables inside and other 7-8 on the terrace outside), brilliant: a tuna spaghetti pizzaiola style for one starter, a sea bass carpaccio with cucumber milk and crunchy fennel for the other. Lemon linguine with scampi marinated in yuzu, orange cherry tomato coulis and oyster powder for one entree, tortelli filled with buffalo ricotta and anchovy sauce, with vegetables and fresh anchovies for the other. A delicious local Vermentino di Gallura varietal wine. Two desserts of Semifreddo al gianduiotto. Unhurried, attentive, and caring staff. Francesco, the owner and chef, just made my day completely delightful. A highlight of a great vacation in Sardinia. Go!

Don’t worry, you’ll find classical dishes on the menu too, but I guarantee you’ll enjoy them more than at any other place around! Highly recommended! Will definitely come back! Grazie mile Gribils, you’ve made our day (and wonderful dinner too)! 😋

A romantic dine in setting but good for groups too. Excellent food, excellent service. Have the steak, the bbq grill master you can watch cooks it to absolute perfection.

Everything was just perfect, the place itself, the food, the service. There is a great variety of local dishes and vines, and all the food was very tasty. Thanks for the great evening!

English This is the first bad review I've written in many years leaving reviews on Google maps. I am absolutely not someone who would make a scene in a restaurant, but our evening there was quite terrible. It started well, the place is pretty and clean, food is well presented and quite tasty. However there was at least 4-5 wasps flying around each plate on our table. Obviously we understand that it is outside of the restaurant control, but we politely ask to go eat inside to be able to it in peace and they simply refused. When I ask why because the inside was completely empty they told us that they only serve outside. Honestly we were very surprised by this answer. We had to eat, the four of us on a corner of a table while my parents were waving their hands around every 20 seconds and absolutely no help was given to us to help this problem. Knowing that I am both scared and allergic to wasp it was honestly a nightmare, I almost started a panic attack, but even my parents who don't care about insects or anything were very disturbed, and we had 0 pleasure. It wasn't really the wasps the problem but the lack of help was astonishing, the waitresses simply ignored us the entire time and told us to just wait untill sundown, we had to eat cold, in a rush and feeling like in the middle of a beehive. This is not a fast food nor the cheapest restaurant in town therefore we expect a little more consideration from the staff when there is a problem which is clearly ruining a customer experience. Just a look towards us or an offer to keep our plates hot while we waited and fought the wasps would have helped. The food is good but a bit pricy.

Great food, the service was a bit slow but they apologised offering the drinks. I feel like the delay was an exception and not the way the restaurant usually works. Regardless, the dishes were so good they would be worth the wait. Recommended

Nice setting, courteous service, fine dining.

Attentive and warm service and one of the best seafood grills I’ve ever had. The calamari were perfectly soft and yet caramelised and oh so delicious.

Restaurant
CuCumiao is a traditional trattoria in Sardinia offering delectable grilled meats and fish, as well as pizza and pasta. Situated on a covered terrace, the restaurant provides top-notch service with an adorable waitress who not only suggests what to order but also advises on the proper eating sequence. The menu comprises homemade dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, making it an excellent choice for those seeking authentic local specialties. The passionate waitress adds to the overall dining experience.
First of all the location of the restaurant is unique with a lot of Charme. The service was outstanding, super quick and friendly. The food was fabulous, the portion size was good. I highly recommend the suckling pig. The octopus was also amazing.

Charming restaurant with amazing food. There is a wide variety of starters, fish, meat, wine and desserts to choose from. You can ask the waiters for recommendations, they are knowledgeable and attentive. The grill and raw meats are on sight and only by looking at them you know you are going to enjoy the food. We’ll definitely repeat if we come back to Sardegna one day!

This was our second visit, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with tasteful decor, genuinely friendly staff, and fresh, authentic food that’s absolutely delicious.

We impressed at the entrance but the more it went the more disappointed we became! I ordered steak and my fiancé ordered Fish after a long waiting time to receive the menu and even more to order the food. Finally they brought only her food and mine was forgotten. I ordered a medium well steak and got a very rare steak mainly because they wanted to serve it as soon as possible. The main waiter hid himself for a reason obviously!

First of all, stop reading this review and start booking - it's the best restaurant we tried on a trip to the north of Sardegna. It was so good we went twice. Starting with the service - impeccable, from the recommendations to the handling of the wasps situation. Always polite and extremely knowledgeable. The food was abundant and full of flavour, both meat and fish dishes. We came here twice, and I would have gladly gone a third time had we had more time. The porccedu melts in your mouth and the homemade seafood pasta (i think it's called Pardu alla Madalena) had an intense seafood flavour! The access to the restaurant seems a bit out of the way if you're based in Palau, but honestly this place is one i would happily go back to again and again.

Incredible place and very delicious food! All the waiters were so kind and welcoming! We really felt great! The food is definitely recommended and ghe whole atmosphere is incredible. We really appreciated that the waitress came after us, as we forgot a jacket. Absolutely recommend!

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impressively fast. We also enjoyed a traditional Italian dessert, which was incredibly tasty. I highly recommend this place to everyone—the menu is extensive and sure to satisfy even the most sophisticated palate.

Everything was absolutely delicious! We had the trio of fish tartare as starter and the porceddu with roasted potatoes as a main. The waiter was so kind to inform us that the porceddu is sufficient for two, otherwise we would have ordered way too much food. The portion was really big & finger-licking good! Their signature appetizer drinks were extraordinary but also very good. Also the service was great and the atmosphere was really nice. We would really recommend this restaurant to anyone! Enjoyed our evening here a lot, thank you!
