Porto-Vecchio in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Porto-Vecchio, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Porto-Vecchio combines a historic hilltop citadel and old town with a busy marina lined with cafés and restaurants. Nearby, some of Corsica’s most famous beaches—such as Palombaggia and Santa Giulia—offer clear, shallow water and fine sand. The area also gives access to the island’s mountainous interior, with opportunities for hiking and scenic drives in the Alta Rocca region.
With favorites like Costa Marina, Plage de Santa Giulia, and U Santa Marina, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Parad'isula Santa Giulia and Costa Marina so you can get the best taste of Porto-Vecchio while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Beaches
Santa Giulia Beach is a popular swimming spot located in a bay with clear, shallow waters and pristine white sand. The beach is adorned with huge red granite rocks and offers easy access, making it perfect for families. Surrounded by lush countryside, the translucent waters are calm and ideal for children to swim. Additionally, the nearby treeline provides plenty of shade.
NOT THE ONE AND ONLY, but definitely ONE OF THE BEST. Why? Heaven on earth, just too many people. Other than that, simply stunning ❤️ Powdery white sandy beaches with crystal clear water like in the best Caribbean places in the world. There is everything available for entertainment that you could think of, from bars, to beach clubs, to restaurants and hotels to gadgets of any kind. COME EARLY to get a good spot on the beach. Beach clubs are between 35-60 per person and mostly fully booked with waiting lists. SNORKELING is just great there. The water is safe and mostly shallow. We spotted a ton of fish from small to medium, starfishes, and even various STINGRAYS. a dream come true for anyone with kids. PARKING is easy if you go to a beach club. Otherwise use dedicated private parking for EUR 8.-, which is fair for a spot in high demand like this one. There is a ton of things more to say, however better just try for yourself or put in a question as a comment. Have fun.
Alexander F — Google review
Absolutely stunning beach , the water is crystal clear and the backdrop of tees around the bay is glorious. Some fabulous beaches bars too. We recommend La Plage and Le Fort. The downside is it gets super busy in peak season. If you have to go in August go early morning, if you are lucky enough to go late September, you will be in paradise !
Lyndele F — Google review
Lovely beach, but very crowded and the parking costs 20€ 🤨. Also some places full of seagrass. But water is clean, no big waves.
Alesia G — Google review
A bit crowded, but nice water and actual sand. I don't like jetskies or parasailing, makes the natural experience bad. I liked the good bars on the beach to have lunch.
Arne Z — Google review
The beach consists of a long narrow strip of fine clean sand (between 10m and 30m in width), skirting a bay of very shallow clear water which extends at least 50 m from the shoreline. The setting is hardly spectacular but the peninsula making up the South side of the bay provides a pretty backdrop. On a fine sunny weekday afternoon towards the end of September the beach was busy, but not oppressively so. All the usual water sports/activities were available and the beach is also a drop-off/pick-up point for cruises along the coast. Various bars - none very special - are dotted along the central part of the beach, closest to the parking areas. Was it quiet or romantic : no, would it be a fine place for small children to paddle in the water : emphatically yes. In line with the reports from other reviewers, I can easily imagine that it would be an absolute zoo in July and August.
Simon B — Google review
Great beach in the south of Corsica. Very overrated in my opinion. Very expensive ar park, flat rate 10 pounds. A lot of bars on the beach which kind of ruins the experience. It can be quite crowded as well. Clean water lovely views. Great for kids.
Ines R — Google review
Stunning beach and surroundings, very clean and transparent water. Many options for water activities. Plenty of restaurants
Natalia K — Google review
We were here 2 weeks ago, not over impressed, it what to busy and the sea wasn’t as clear as many people had described. If I’m honest I was a little bit disappointed

Plage de Tamaricciu

Located in the town of Porto-Vecchio on the island of Elba, Plage de Tamaricciu is a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters and deep sand. The beach is backed by pine forests and is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling.
A paradise beach with white sand and crystal-clear water. The 10-minute walk through the maquis from Pallombaggia Beach to reach it is very enjoyable. Clearly one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica. Be aware that parking at the bottom costs €10 per day during the high season.
Viorica — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Little bit disappointed the iconic tree is gone, but they left the stump as a reminder. The beach was almost empty, the water was crystal clear and a lot warmer than most beaches we went to! Also beautiful for snorkeling.
Ella - — Google review
This is 3 in 1 beach. You park at Palombaggia plage, and if you walk a bit through nice sand path, you will come to the Plage de Tamaricciu. And if you walk few more steps you will come to the third beach, Plage de la Folaca, which i think is the best of these 3. Parking: don’t park at the street. Just make a turn and park in private parkings. All day parking costs 10 euros (at least in July), and if you park at the street it will cost you 6 euros for 4 hours. And you can only pay with coins at the street. In private parkings you can pay with paper money. Also, there are only few parking spaces at the street and it will be very hard for you to go back because you have to walk up on the very steep hill. First beach: you will come to Palombaggia beach first. This is one end of Palombaggia and this is the best part of it. Yes, a lot of boats are parked here but the water is warm, and super shallow, i love it. Second beach: if you go to the rocks, and climb a bit, you will see a sand path. Follow it and you will come to Tamaricciu beach. This is just small rocky beach, nothing special really. Third beach: just fee steps further and you will come to the third beach, Plage de la Folaca, which i think is the best one out of these 3. Water is warm, there is a bit of grass in the water but nothing special. There were not that many people when we visited in the middle of July. I totally recommend this beach. We parked at Tamaricciu and stayed at this beach. It was great.
Jelena J — Google review
Great beach less crowded and clear blue waters
Julien P — Google review
Not sure about the parking facilities because I parked at Palombaggia and along the beach to get to this beautiful rock pool. It is one of the nicest beaches I’ve seen in the surrounding.
Fardad — Google review
Beautiful beach, beautiful nature. The parking is pretty far away from this location but not impossible to reach.
Cosmin R — Google review
The water is so clear!!! Not very crowded also. Good spot for your time off
Aurimas B — Google review
Nice stretch of beach, somewhat remote and therefore not very busy. But the sand is not as fine as on the neighboring beach

Restaurant
Parad'isula Santa Giulia is a beach bar-restaurant located in the picturesque bay of Santa Giulia. The venue offers fresh and innovative cuisine in a friendly atmosphere, with lounges and deckchairs for guests to relax on. Visitors can enjoy lunch with their feet in the sand or under the shaded terrace, while sunset brings aperitifs, tapas, cocktails, and weekly themed evenings featuring traditional Corsican music. The establishment is known for its excellent food and magnificent location.
The food was excellent, and the location is magnifique. Service was fast and very kind. Without any organizational issues, I recommend booking a table to ensure a spot. Great experience overall! Go for it !
Beat R — Google review
I ordered the royal cheeseburger and I was very pleased! The ingredients felt high quality and it tasted well. Unfortunately my company was very dissatisfied with the „Le veggie très gourmand“. The price overall was a bit pricier, but definitely affordable for such an establishment (Beach bars/restaurants obviously charge more for the atmosphere they offer). The service was decent. The location is really nice obviously, with a good view over the sea.
Zomb P — Google review
The location is nice, and it’s helpful to know that a reservation is required even if you’re only using the restaurant’s parking for the beach. The Fish and Chips were excellent, and the Pavlova dessert was a highlight. The Poke Bowl di Mare was less impressive in terms of flavour and presentation. The kids’ meals were also a bit disappointing. The presentation felt rushed, and the fries were unfortunately soggy. The biggest downside was the service. We waited about 45 minutes for our food, had to follow up more than once, and no one cleared the table after we finished. Dessert wasn’t offered—we had to ask—and we also had to call someone over to pay. Altogether, the meal took nearly two hours, which is quite long for a beach lunch. Great potential, but service needs to be more attentive and efficient.
HydroArtPod — Google review
Exceptional food, exceptional service, friendly people and a really good atmosphere. We ordered the octopus for 2, the tartlet and pavlova, exceptional desserts, for the little one the nuggets with french fries (kids menu incl ice cream), with a fine white wine. It was worth the waiting time. Go early to avoid long waiting times and dont forget to wear a shirt,
A F — Google review
Great place. Food is exceptionally good. Lunch hours are full even with people from out of the beach. Chill atmosphere, nice and not disturbing music. Friendly and swift service. Beach and sea are maybe not the best of south Corsica but still very beautiful. Highly recommended.
Murat Y — Google review
Massively racist. As the only people of colour in the restaurant, we were the only ones asked to pay after every round of drinks. When asked, they had no reason for why we were being asked to pay, while no-one else was. Also, when we arrived at dinner time the previous day, we were the only ones not let into the restaurant, despite there being many free tables. People before and after us, were allowed entry with no reservations. Having travelled extensively to over a 100 countries, we have never been actively discriminated against in this way. Avoid this place if you can. There are better places on the beachfront you could go to instead, that aren't racist. Updated after restaurant (seen in photo) response: - we weren't sitting at the bar, but at the tables. You should actually try checking them cameras out as we were the only ones asked to pay. If you were discriminated against, you would also check around you. - your response clearly is being defensive rather than introspective. Shows how you treat your customers - we came back because we wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but won't the next time.
Abhay M — Google review
We had lunch here on a Sunday, it was quite busy, but everything was great. It is directly on the sea with good view. The portions are rather big than small, and very tasty. Service was friendly, will come again, when at this beach.
Christian M — Google review
"Absolutely Horrendous - Avoid at All Costs!" Where do I even begin with this disaster of a place? The owner is an arrogant and greedy individual who clearly has no respect for his staff or customers. We witnessed him unnecessarily humiliate an employee right in front of us – utterly unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness. The service was abysmal, reflecting the overall poor management. To make matters worse, they closed the kitchen at 3 PM, refusing to serve any more food, yet they had the audacity to forbid us from buying snacks from the establishment next door! The prices were exorbitant, an insult given the atrocious experience. As if that wasn't enough, when we tried to feed our baby some pre-prepared baby food we brought ourselves, the owner actually had to think twice about whether our infant was "allowed" to eat it there. This level of pettiness and lack of consideration is beyond belief. I would strongly advise anyone to steer clear of Parad'isula Santa Giulia. Don't waste your money paying for such terrible service and an unwelcoming atmosphere. You're better off getting a sandwich from the snack bar next door – seriously.

Pizza restaurant
Costa Marina is a charming restaurant located in Palombaggia, offering a warm and convivial ambiance with stunning sea views. The rustic dining room and terrace provide a picturesque setting to enjoy artisanal wood-fired pizzas and traditional pastas. The menu features a variety of Italian dishes, including grilled fish and meats, all served in a healthy Mediterranean style. Guests can expect excellent service from the friendly staff who are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
One of the best pizzas we have ever eaten. The focaccia, the octopus and the tuna tartar were also amazing. Service very friendly. Atmosphere very relaxed and beautiful view over the sea.
Carmen T — Google review
Very picturesque views, really friendly service. Pizzas were good, quite big. It is a bit expensive to dine there with kids though.
Ugnė V — Google review
No vegan option, don't bother. Also, make a reservation online!!.. it's easy, free and worth it. Staff do not seem happy when you turn up without a reservation. But they also don't seem happy when you do. They don't like tourists who can't speak enough French 🤣 BUT the food is good and the location is beautiful. I don't eat cheese and asked multiple times for no cheese on my pizza but every time I came here, they ignored my request - luckily it's not a dangerous allergy. But their bad attitude and lack of kindness definitely damped the experience. The pizza base is sooooo good!! You can taste the quality and that it is done correctly. More expensive that other places and the atmosphere is a little snobby. Not laid back. Beautiful view. Amazing, skilled and intelligent staff, even if they are grumpy.
Esther — Google review
Had dinner here last night. Amazing view and great pizza! It’s clearly a popular spot so definitely make a reservation in advance! We booked a table for two on the terrace and it was perfect.
Cynthia P — Google review
Location is great and food too! However, the service was very bad. The waiter was rude, he forgot our water and got our steak done-ness completely wrong. The waiter seemed angry at us as if we were causing him problems. I do not recommend.
Alexia R — Google review
The best restaurant in this part of the island! Lovely views, excellent food and service and very welcoming hosts.
Mirko G — Google review
Phenomenal atmosphere, view and food. Linguine with prawns was loaded with prawns. Get there for sunset. No, you won’t see the sun actually set, but you will see amazing colors overs the hills and sea. We loved this place.
Bret M — Google review
We went to Costa Marina for dinner on our last evening in Corsica and it was perfect. Table overlooking the sea was ideal and the food was fantastic. Great wine selection too. Friendly and helpful people on hand to offer advice on the dishes and wines. We had some great food during our Corsican adventure but this one was just fabulous. Loved it and would head back!

With its beautiful terrace, U Santa Marina offers guests the opportunity to enjoy delicious meals in a picturesque seaside setting. Whether you prefer an elegant gastronomic meal or a laid-back beachside bar experience, this establishment caters to various dining preferences.
Wonderful restaurant right on the water. Located in Santa Giulia. Ate in the formal dinning area outside. Not sure if I liked the views or the food better - couldn’t do better on either. The service was first class and the staff were knowledgeable and knew how to spoil you. Really enjoyed the amuse bouche that was served with each course. Had the pigeon and the amberjack both of which were wonderful (didn’t know I liked pigeon). To say their winelist is extensive is an understatement. Lots and lots of Corsican wines as well as non Corsican. Oh and a shout out to how they went out of their way to make a gluten free dessert for us. Don’t miss if you are anywhere near the area.
Alan — Google review
This Michelin restaurant by the sea in Corsica offers a truly memorable dining experience. The staff are professional yet warm, making the service feel both refined and welcoming. The dishes are not only delicious but also beautifully presented — each plate feels like a work of art. Portions are small, as expected in fine dining, but the quality and creativity of the cuisine more than make up for it. The interior design is charming and elegant, and the seaside setting adds an extra touch of magic. Prices are on the expensive side, but fitting for the level of craftsmanship and atmosphere provided. An excellent choice for a special occasion or anyone looking to indulge in Corsican fine dining with a stunning view.
Taisia B — Google review
I had booked the Plage brasseries but because of the winds I believe they placed this in the gastronomy terrace. Must be the most stunning view of any restaurant in Corsica. I had the chef ravioli which was advertised as being in a lobster bisque, but there was definite coconut milk and Thai flavours. Not unpleasant but not what I was expecting and I probably would’ve preferred a straightforward lobster bisque. The octopus was also eaten and was a very substantial portion. The desserts can be shared between four people! It seems to be a family run business as all the waiters look very similar and was very good. Reasonable wine selection. What I really like about Corsica restaurants as they offer the 50 cl bottles.
James B — Google review
We had a nice 3 course dinner, the food was very delicious and presented nicely. The waiters were really friendly and attentive. Scenic view on the bay of Santa Giulia from the table.
Andre — Google review
Very good food and very friendly staff! We had a great evening here. special thanks for the sommelier who gave us a very detailed explanation of the wines and some nice locations to visit on Corsica.
Emil B — Google review
One of the best lunches we had during our trip to Corsica. Friendly service, a perfect location somewhat elevated above the beach and food that surprised us in a positive way. Super fresh oysters to start with, a really out of this world hand cut tartare de veau (including os a moelle, very good fries and perfectly done egg yolks!), a copious amount of lovely sweetbreads drenched in a mouthwatering sauce and a truly picture perfect pavlova to finish the meal. The sun was beating down on us, but the wind was soothing and the food made us happy. Would most definitely recommend for lunch!
Tim S — Google review
SPECTACULAR DINING EXPERIENCE The location, standard of cookery and presentation of all courses were wonderful. Culinary surprises within all 10 courses. 3 establishments share the same telephone line so when booking specifically mention ‘Gastronomic’ to save any embarrassment such as we experienced. Top tip a pashmina or jacket is required on the veranda.

We had dinner at U santa Marina (a coté plage). We had a nice relaxed time there. The food was great, and the atmosphere relaxed. The service was great, the staff were pro active and happy, and our waitress was great. The price of food we had was correct, plus it had a nice view of the beach. We would recommend this restaurant.
