La Gritta in Palau, Sardinia offers a delightful dining experience with its imaginative Mediterranean dishes and regional wines. The restaurant boasts a lovely garden terrace with stunning views of the sea and sunset. Visitors praise the great atmosphere and excellent service, particularly the sommelier who provides fantastic local Sardinian wine recommendations. While some found the food to be good but not exceptional, others highly recommend dishes like pasta, zabaione, and chocolate tart.

Spiaggia de La Sciumara is a stunning beach located in Palau, Sardinia. With its clear waters and sandy shore, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and even La Maddalena Island in the distance. This nearly 500-meter-long beach faces north and is a popular spot for visitors seeking natural beauty and tranquility.
Spiaggia de La Sciumara is very nice! You can rent umbrellas with chairs at a good price. There’s parking, it’s easy to get to, and the water is amazing! The day we went was breezy, so the water was a bit cold, but still so worth it. The sea was flat!!

Lovely beach but crowded nearer the bar/kiosk. Don't hesitate to walk after the windsurf zone. Water is clear and ideal for children. Kiosk serves hot food, drinks etc... Parking €1,50 / hour
Antoine B — Google review
Great beach, spent a few days here during my time in the area. Beach bar is great to have access too. You can rent windsurfs, sunbeds and paddle boards. Some great boats also come in and out which is great to watch.

💰‼️ umbrellas for rent €50/€60 The most beautiful beach close to Palau, just 20 minutes by foot, or less of 10 minutes by car. Taxi from Palau Port €10. Crystal water and soft small waves. Little bar with fair prices for eat and drink.

Lovely beach. Thick sand gives a great massage to the feet when walking. Extremely clean. Very few people in the second half of sept. There is an excellent windsurfing rental n school run by Claudio.

La Fortezza di Monte Altura offers a guided tour for a fee, providing visitors with an informative 40-minute experience. The fortress allows dogs and boasts stunning views of La Maddalena and Palau. Visitors recommend reserving the tour in advance to secure a spot and enjoy the charismatic and knowledgeable guides. The historical significance of the fort and its surroundings, along with the captivating view from the top, make it a worthwhile excursion.
Very informative and interesting. Stunning views . You can learn so much about history of this place and history of Sardinia and Olbia ! Highly recommended
JaneMary20 — Google review
The most beautiful military fortress in Europe, so defined since its construction, it really is a sight to see. This 19th-century bastion was built to help defend the north coast and archipelago di La Maddalena from invasion – something it was never called on to do. It.s easy to get to - 3 km out of Palau and the 45 minute tour will teach you a lot of interesting things about the history of Europe, not only Sardinia. Totally wotth it. And the views are amazing, you can see even Corsica.
Bogdan B — Google review
Very nice fortress from 1890, never bombed. There are no artifacts to show, but it s still worth the visit. The guided tour is great, the view fantastic. you can visit only with guided tour starting every .15. You can buy the ticket online or in the ticket office.
Éva U — Google review
Alessandro gave us a wonderful tour of this amazing fort. The history is fascinating, especially the method of protecting the munitions below ground and transporting the artillery up the large ramp. Alessandro is full of other interesting local knowledge such as the numerous dialects spoken in the area, the geological mechanisms causing the small caverns and holes in the pink granite. Overall a visit well worth the effort.
Hamilton H — Google review
The fortress looks unique with it's big ramp. Also it's wonderfully preserved. We arrived at around 10 am on Sunday. The staff arrived almost the same time as us. He told us that they had a tour which started at 10:15 in both English and Italian and it was included in the ticket of 5 euro. The tour was good. The guide explained everything interestingly. I told him that on another tour, I heard Napoleon attacked the islands, however they didn't go in much detail. Therefore he explained the battle very thoroughly. It was very interesting, because this was the cause for this fortress to be build.
Richard H — Google review
A very well conserved place with beautiful view of the all bay. The guide was very nice and the cost just 5€
Nicolas T — Google review
The final stop was a nineteenth century artillery fort, built on a hilltop overlooking the port of Palau. We parked in the large car park and went to the ticket office which was closed. The next tour was in 30 minutes so we had a wander around the hillside and enjoyed the views, rock formations and wild poppies. 30 minutes came and went and still no staff so after an hour we walked up to the fort and spoke to the guide who said she'd next do another tour in 45 minutes time. We didn't want to wait that long so drove on to Olbia, rather frustrated as we could have visited somewhere else and it was a 2.5 hour round trip wasted.
Marcus H — Google review
Absolute gem of a visit. Phillip, our guide spoke in English, German and Italian to meet the needs of our varied group. So grateful to get a taste of local history and information from this visit! Worth every penny!

Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia di Talmone is a beautiful and secluded beach located in a cove with stunning rock formations. Accessible via a 10-15 minute walk through small paths, this hidden gem offers privacy, especially in the early morning hours. The coarse sand and clear waters make it an ideal spot for swimming, although water shoes are recommended due to some sharp rocks. The beach is also known for its abundance of friendly fish.
Parked in the roundabout for free. It was full of cars during October Half-term (about 10 cars) but the beaches are made of little coves so u can still get a spot on your own. The path to the beach is very narrow and not for people with mobility issues. Possible to do it with kids, just slowly. If you have kids, be aware It's Italy so many women tan topless and we even saw a naked old man...
MuslimFamilyTravel T — Google review
BE CAREFULL with your car – we were robbed. The beach itself was absolutely beautiful, the day there was wonderful. But when we came back to the car, our holiday was basically over: two suitcases with belongings worth at least €5,000 were stolen in broad daylight. We just didn’t think something like this could happen during the day – we were in holiday mode and didn’t consider the risk. Pretty naïve from our side, and that’s exactly why I’m writing this review: in the hope that others will be spared the same experience. Please be careful and never leave anything in your car.
Antonia E — Google review
It was a great, unique small bay surrounded by huge spectacular rocks. It is not easy to find a comfortable place, but therefore it is not crowded at all. Higly recommend to spend some time. Public parking seemed to be free:)
Vince N — Google review
The road goes through bushes and over some rocks, but it is not very difficult. Possible even in flip-flops. Beach is not so much for swimming because it has lots of rocks, but it is beautiful and definitely worth visiting.
Jelena M — Google review
Beautiful beach enclosed with rock formations, 10-15 minutes walk from the roundabout at the end of the road via tiny path through the bushes and rocks, but very worth it! Quite private before 8-8.30 am, around 9 am people start arriving. Parking could be a challenge if you come late, there is no parking lot, only on the side of the road. Hiking shoes or sneakers certainly a preference over flip flops. Early morning feels very intimate, having this wild pearl all to yourself.
Kristine G — Google review
Lovely beach. You do need to traverse a winding small path with thorny bushes for about 20 minutes. Bring sneakers. Snorkeling was also good with clear water and plenty of fish around
Bjorn B — Google review
For me the most beautiful beach in this area, not crowded, and it has a lot of different fish. You need to walk about 10-15 minutes, but worth it.

The staff is known to be gentle, prepared, and helpful, making it worth a visit for those interested in historic places and cultural elements.
Worth seeing. Good historical place, althouth nothing extraordinarily. If you need some element of culture on your journey to Sardinia, it is the good place to spend herean hour.

Small but one of the best preserved.

Don’t go!!! Ticket prices way too much! But the worst is the staff which is EXTREMELY unfriendly. We didn‘t know which Part we needed a ticket for. The women working there ran outside to yell at us that we needed a ticket for everything. When we Said we didn‘t know, she answered „Then you can‘t go“ and left. I thought it was her Job to inform and Sell us Tickets, but she didn‘t care.
Krissi W — Google review
The tomb is not impressive at all, just some very old rock ruins. However, the nuraghi village is incredible, dated 15 century BC feels pretty amazing it's still there. Take a moment to get into the minds of the ancient people.
Daniel I — Google review
Just some piles of stones Nothing to see here
E. H — Google review
It's nice to see such an old Naurage site, but make sure they tell you where to go when you pay for the tickets and get the leaflet. Also tell them if you have children, they are discounted.
Thomas C — Google review
Honestly, not much to see. If you're a big fan of this stuff OK, otherwise don't bother. The shop is better than the visit and in spite of walking 500m before getting anywhere, the shop takes longer than the visit too

Batteria Militare Talmone is a perfectly restored military battery set in a splendid natural environment. The site is managed by the FAI and has recently reopened, offering visitors an extraordinary experience. The path to reach the battery winds through 2.5 km of thick vegetation, providing a challenging yet rewarding trek. Visitors are advised to wear trekking shoes as some sections require walking on rocks. The coastal path offers an easier and more panoramic route to the battery.
(Translated by Google) Very interesting. Unexpected surprise a stone's throw from a beautiful beach. Incredible example of the harmonious insertion of a military structure into the surrounding environment. It's very reminiscent of the film Mediterraneo. Excellent restoration. Worth the visit. (Original) Molto interessante. Sorpresa inaspettata a due passi da una bellissima spiaggia. Incredibile esempio di inserimento armonico di una struttura militare nell'ambiente circostante. Marco C — Google review
A bit disappointing. Basically, you get to visit only a big refurbished barrack, which however is bereft of furniture. Only the walls, frames and shell were object of restoration, but, apart from that, there is little to see. So it is a totally different experience with respect to other visitable military installations in the area (i.e. Monte Altura, Garibaldi Memorial, etc.), where you get to see ramparts, bulwarks and forts. I would not recommend going here.

(Translated by Google) The landscape is incredible on one side the sea and the islands on the other the Mediterranean scrub and the famous Gallura granites... The only discordant note is the reconstruction of this one. Barracks that are more reminiscent of an abandoned cantonal house... Perhaps the ruins that were there before were better... they gave a much more peaceful and romantic idea of everything (Original) Il paesaggio è incredibile da un lato il mare e le isole dall'altro la macchia mediterranea e i famosi graniti galluresi... Spiaggia di Cala di Trana is a hidden gem located near La Marinedda beach and Hotel Torreruja di Isola Rossa. Accessible only by sea or a 30-40 minute hike, this secluded beach offers stunning red rock landscapes and tranquil surroundings. Visitors are advised to use hiking apps for navigation as there are no signposts along the way. The walk from La porta del paradiso to the beach is approximately 1.
Beautiful and clean and clear sand beach. We walked 40 min from La porta del Paradiso. On the way you will Pass two Other little beautiful beaches. Wear good shoes as you will pass rocks and thorny plants.
Husa J — Google review
Can’t go beyond the green gate - there’s no way to the beach(it also says it’s private property on it). I followed other reviews to get to Cala di Trana and had to walk all the way down just to find myself in private houses…. Had to walk the way back up and took a challenging rocky path down to the beach. Highly recommended taking the Costa Serena route. Parking and trail are easy and accessible there.
Vi B — Google review
A gorgeous beach, kept very quiet by the fact it is only reachable by sea, or a 30-40 min hike. We parked at 41.1988774, 9.3367813 (Google Maps coordinates) and it took us 35 mins to walk to the beach. There are multiple paths that lead to nowhere so make sure you do your research and download a hiking app that can show you the way, as there are no signposts and very little markings to show you you are on the right route. However, it is well worth the effort as the large beach is generally quiet and is lapped by clear, turquoise water. Due to its sheltered location, it also doesn’t suffer from the strong westerly winds.
Steven M — Google review
Start your route at La porta del paradiso. There is a free parking space. Wear shoes for the hike, no flip flops. It's 1.3km to walk. It's not a big challenge except the heat it you walk in the midday and in the sun. Try to walk with Google maps. You can see the path. Perfect empty beach, went in mid September. Some boats do a stop there. But nothing compared to the other overtourism beaches
Simon K — Google review
Fantastica! One of the best beaches in north Sardegna. You need to have good directions and be able to walk and hike for about 45 minutes under the sun each way. But worth it!

Small cove facing the white cliffs of Bonifacio, one part is sandy and the other part is rocky with pebbles and lots of dried posidonia. Absolutely heaven for snorkeling, kids will love it as there is plenty of sea life to watch. Not much used by tourists, only locals when we were there. Sunbeds for hire at 7 euros. Car park is chaotic and can be dangerous ( warning if you have a rental!)

There's no sand, just granite and small pebbles. There's a dedicated dog beach. Unfortunately, there were too many wasps on this beach, starting at 8:00 a.m., constantly bothering them, so much so that eating was impossible. My son was quiet, playing with a small tractor, and he was stung three times on his hands. The beach is full of trash, plastic, and no one to collect it. The sea dumps everything on the dog beach.

Beach
Spiaggia di Cala Martinella is a small rocky cove with a tiny beach offering stunning scenery and clear turquoise water. While parking is limited, the beach is easily accessible by car, although the road can be challenging for lowered vehicles. The beach itself only accommodates a few people, but there are additional sitting areas on the surrounding rocks. It's perfect for snorkeling with an abundance of fish and sea life to observe.
A small rocky cove with a tiny beach. Stunning scenery and clear turquoise water. Parking is limited, I parked higher up the road in the village and walked the last 700m to the beach but there are a few spaces at the beach itself. The beach only needs about 6 or 7 people to fill it up but there are other areas on the rocks around the edges where you can sit and take in the scenery. Great for snorkelling with plenty of fish (and sea urchins). There are no facilities so take everything you’ll need with you. Well worth the effort as it is a little piece of paradise and the village itself is stunning.

Perfect! Very small but cosy beach. Water was pristine. You need to be lucky to find a parking lot an some space on the little beach. But then it‘s an absolut diamond 💎. Perfect also for snorkeling. Lot‘s of different fish.

Fantastic little beach! You get close by car, not too crowded. Pier where you can dive and beautiful water!
Giacomo S — Google review
Road to the beach is tough (gravel) for the last 2 km so don’t go if your car is lowered. Beach is clean and the water is very nice. Has a small food truck and no mobile phone reception at the beach!
Andreas W — Google review
Great for snorkelling, we saw a star fish and so many sardines! Accessible by car or by foot.
Geneviève F — Google review
Very small beach (space for 3-4 families) with a fantastic view. You need to arrive early to find space there.

Better in the afternoon than the morning, it is a quiet and raw place where to rest, have a bath on a natural emerald pool.

Beautiful view of the port, The different islands : La Maddelena, Santa Stefano, Spargi Corsica, Santa Maria and more. You can see all the boats, ships, ferries, coming and going. It was a 45’min walk up a paved winding road from our hotel “Club Esse Posada”We had to be careful of cars as usual but it was a good walk. At the top there are benches.
Donna N — Google review
Honestly the view is not that nice. Your pictures will have at the bottom some garbage and dry sand and on the top part clean water and fancy boats....
Stan A — Google review
Beautiful views for miles, we could even see Corsica. However watching the ferries being buffered around did change our mind about visiting the island!

Scenic spot
Punto panoramico, located on the northwest side of Sardinia, offers a breathtaking view of one of Italy's most beautiful beaches, La Pelosa. This spot is perfect for capturing the wild Mediterranean Sea and the stunning island of La Maddalena. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience at sunset while taking in the fantastic view. Due to its popularity, it has been necessary to limit access to the beach this year as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
Visit beginning of May. Windy day but the view is amazing 😻
