Catholic church
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta or Santo Nicola Pellegrino, is a Romanesque Catholic cathedral in Trani, Italy. Made from local pink-white stone and completed mostly by the 1200s, it is an example of Apulian Romanesque architecture.
Basilica is free of charge and only entry to the tower costs 5€. There are about 298 stairs to climb to reach the peak (59 m). Unfortunately you cannot go outside and it is hard to take a good photo beacues of the nets that are installed in the windows, but still it is worthy as from up there you can see the whole castle and the see and it was magical for me. The entrance to the basilica is from the underground. There are nice frescoes in the crypt, but if you want to switch on the light to see them you must pay. The basilica made a huge impression on me. I have never seen a church located so close to the see. I really recommend to visit Trani and basilica.

We were able to visit at sunset and it was so beautiful. I cannot believe the colour of the stone. What a beautiful church.

Cathedral is one of the best places to see in the region. There is a lot of history, monuments to see. Unfortunately you can not take a guide inside. It’s located in lovely area, near the park and the port. The liturgy are normally about 10 pm. Inside is a little bit cold, but it’s normal like in this kind of buildings. You can go also to the underground.

Basilica at probably the most beautiful place in the world and a gem of a structure

Another great place to visit. Good place for eating fish and city views. Enjoy coffee. Do something else and avoid the cappuccino. Italians do not drink it after 1500. Get an espressino. Take a wild side around the Basilica.

The Catholic Cathedral of Maria de Santos is famous in Trani for being made of local pinkish-white marble and its majestic presence by the sea.

A beautifully restored church — definitely worth stepping inside. Please be respectful, keep noise to a minimum, and avoid taking photos. It’s wheelchair accessible, and entry was free when we visited. We enjoyed stopping by during an evening walk along the waterfront, followed by some gelato — a lovely experience overall.

Castello Svevo di Trani, a harborside castle constructed in 1233 by Frederick II of Swabia, is now open to the public as a museum. This medieval fortress was part of the network of fortifications built by Frederick II and is strategically located at the meeting point of land and sea. Made from the same stone as the cathedral, it features a quadrilateral perimeter with turrets at each corner.
An impressive 13th-century Swabian castle, a must-visit in Trani. The huge construction would be worth the visit alone, but to top it off you'll also get to see a part of the art collection of Margherita of Savoy, one of the last queens of Italy.
Ilias C — Google review
It’s was so beautiful to walk around the walls of the fortress 🙌 We watched the 12-minutes video about the castles and went for a walk on its walls. A great way to pass an hour in Trani The inside is a bit null
Paz L — Google review
The castle is right on the water and makes for a lovely photo. We basically had the castle to ourselves, only seeing two other people while there. Queen Marguerite's art collection is on display inside and the history of the castle is really interesting.
Alison C — Google review
One of the best-preserved medieval Swabian castles in the entire region, this fortress is steeped in legend. It is said to be haunted by two ghosts, and there are stories of a secret room where inhabitants would hide during sieges, as well as a mysterious underground passage that supposedly connected the castle to **Castel del Monte**, near Andria. However, this passage has never been discovered. I highly recommend enjoying the breathtaking view from the top of the castle towers.
Alessandro — Google review
Seaside castle. Internally is empty and a bit boring to walk around and don’t know the history. The best part is the outdoor walkway, with an amazing view . The cost of entry is €7 .

Beautiful castle with lots of history to unveil , particularly liked pictures of queen Margherita.
MIHAEL S — Google review
This castle is a must see in the heart of Trani! It is in excellent condition and it dates back to around 1233. There is a platform where you could get an excellent view of the ocean and the city. In addition, you will learn so much about the interesting history. For people who also like art, there is a great art exhibition upstairs that exhibits the Queen of Naples art collection of Italian art. Furthermore, the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and will help you answer any questions you may have. I recommend that anyone visiting Trani comes here!!

Fabulous historical museum close to the infamous Cathedral; the place has a variety of paintings, sculptures and some fancy events at the first floor. On April 19, 2025, I visited this palace for the first time to see photographer Berengo Gardin’s exhibition. I asked if the exhibition catalog was available, but it wasn’t. The cashier—who was likely one of the managers—discounted my ticket from €10 to €8. She escorted me to the start of the ramp leading to the exhibition floor, removed the barrier tape to let me in, making me the first visitor of the day. She also mentioned that the same ticket granted access to the second and third floors, which house the Beltrani Palace of Arts’ permanent collections: Scaringi (his drawings were stunning) and Masiello. Among the donated works on display were pieces by Picasso (lithographs and etchings), Chagall (a lithograph or etching), Toulouse-Lautrec, Mirò (a woodcut or lithograph), and Dalì (woodcuts or lithographs).

Osteria La Banchina is a cozy eatery located on the waterfront that has been satisfying seafood lovers for over 20 years. The restaurant offers a variety of seafood and pasta dishes, which can be enjoyed in their snug dining room or on the covered terrace. One of their standout dishes is "ricci," a rare find that is praised for its freshness.
Osteria La Banchina had some of the best shrimp appetizers, and clams with linguine I have ever had! Very nice wine selection. Great service. Great food. Visited twice during our stay in Trani.

Nestled in a prime location on the port, this seafood restaurant is a true gem. The diverse and meticulously curated wine selection complements the fresh and flavorful dishes perfectly, all at a reasonable price. The service was prompt and efficient, enhancing our lunching experience. A standout dish was the Sea Urchin pasta, which was simply divine and left us craving more. Highly recommended for both seafood enthusiasts and wine aficionados!

I enjoyed the experience here, everything was fresh especially"ricci" not easy to find. The staff was kind and polite. If I have to find something that I didn't like, was just too much oil in the spaghetti as you can see in the picture, and I don't advise the tris appetiser cooked, instead try the fresh sea good it was delicious and for sure I'll come back

Le Lampare al Fortino is a renowned restaurant in Trani, offering breathtaking views of the port and sea. Housed in a 13th-century desecrated church, it provides a unique dining experience. The menu features delicious seafood dishes prepared in various styles, along with delectable Mediterranean options. While some visitors found the prices to be on the higher side compared to other restaurants in Puglia, many praised the quality of their meals.
We had two amazing, back to back dinners at Lampare. When I was first researching our stay in Trani I overlooked Lampare, thinking it was only for catered events. Let me tell you, if you can manage a visit (or two), do it. It is a beautiful building serving incredible food with the finest of service. For the quality of food and service, I found the prices to be quite reasonable. Both nights we had pasta with fresh lobster that was incredible. I also have to say that the pink grapefruit sorbetto is not to be missed if you are looking for something light and refreshing. It’s only been a couple months since our visit and we are already talking about a return!

Exceptional service, atmosphere and quality food. An amazing dining experience! Cannot say enough about how amazing the food was and the dining experience. The staff and their presentation and attention to detail was impeccable.

It is recommended as one of best restaurants ever in Puglia. I agree but need to go there again... The friends I went with were slightly disappointed as they tried a tuna stake 8 years ago and found it absolutely number one, this time the cooking of same tuna steak did leave them concerned. All of other dishes were good but not top. I want to try again my pasta main course, it left me 80% happy. Again ok but not aligning the price we paid for. The restaurant did not have any french wines that night. We still choose a good wine. But if it is a Michelin star I expect to find a wide variety of wines. That said the experience was good and I am going again as I feel like that night a big event at the restaurant did not help the cooks and chefs (I expect a star Michelin to manage such events and regular customers at tables though). Can't wait to go again.

A fine experience. Great service, great scenery. They kindly welcomed us and satisfied our special dietary needs. Outstanding seafood and delicious vegan options. Update: My family and I decided to come back here after 5 days. Once again a very pleasant experience. More and even better vegan options. The usually great sea food. Just book a table and enjoy your dinner. It is the most scenographic, elegant and delicious restaurant in Trani.

Lampare really was a sensational and unforgettable night - my husband and I will forever remember the incredible setting, impeccable service and how we were all made to feel so welcome. The food was excellent and we will always hold this place for a special place in our hearts. See you soon! ❤️

Enchanting dining experience in a restaurant that is beautifully situated at the inner "fortino", right on the ancient and picturesque port structure. A memorable choice for a party or an important celebration, the menu is refined and researched in the flavors, with no pre-made dishes and a relaxing timing to the serving of the courses. On a day with a light sea breeze, the meal would be very enjoyable right on the terrace.highly recommended the desserts, in particular the chocolate gran suofflé.

Riso Patate e Cozze is a beloved dish in Puglia, particularly in Bari. It's a delightful combination of rice, potatoes, mussels, tomatoes, garlic, parsley, and pecorino cheese all drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. Originally a traditional dish for feast days in Apulia, it has now become a staple. The flavors of the land and sea come together in this delectable meal.
Fantastic food, small menu what gives me the impression that everything can be and is fresh. So I like small menus! Great starter with octopus and tomatoes. Lovely tuna as main dish and my wife had a great pasta. Very nice wine with that, all in all a perfect lunch. The photo is of the starter, really lovely! It was quiet but off season so understandable. Try it!
Ramon Z — Google review
I noticed mixed reviews and was slightly apprehensive but ultimately the lovely ambience- outdoor tables, Italian pop music- drew me in. And the menu is what I would always want- a little choice but not too overwhelming. Mostly Puglian specialties from what I know. Anyway, it was an exceptional meal. The staff are of course busy but friendly enough, waiters spoke English happily which I appreciated. They do have menus in other languages which again almost caused me to dismiss it as ‘tourist trap’ but was ultimately helpful. I had the tortina with prawn and zucchini and I used the bread to mop up every inch. Then I tried rice with mussels and potatoes, and it was similarly delicious. The only slight negative is the wine was average but actually that added to the feeing of being in an unfussy Italian restaurant with just one type of wine, so in the end I didn’t really mind! I would recommend and even return if I ever find myself here again.
Kim S — Google review
Not very refined, but with good food. Simple and tasty cuisine. There is no choice of wines or spirits, but the local wine is good, it's a sort of fixed menu that everyone could enjoy. The bill is from "trattoria" and from the south of Italy, normal and honest. The problem, perhaps, is the dance music that comes from nearby clubs.
Agostino B — Google review
It's a nice little place. Food is ok, although we felt a bit weird after it. Service is a bit bad. Slow and we order two peroni and she brought one peroni and one pils not mentioning that pils is 1,5 euros more expensive. Doesn't matter so much in the end but since they charge service charge, would be nice to have service.

The food was too overpriced for the quality and quantity. By far the worst Tiramisu, I tasted in Puglia. The ambience was cheap.

A very nice local restaurant in a cosy corner of the city. The owner very friendly, the food is really good with good fresh ingredients and nice dishes. We had a nice fish very well done, fresh and in a normal price. One of the best experiences in Trani.

The food was o.k. but nothing special for this high price... But the waiter was a zero star experience. The first 3 dishes we wanted to order were not available...but our neighbour table got this dish served a few minutes later. He wanted permanently to recommend dishes to us...i am the guest and i have to pay for it and so i want to decide what to eat. Maybe the wrong job for the waiter. 2 dishes came wrong to our table...we have not ordered this kind of fish. The waiter just said...its the same price as the other dish. If this is happening - that's possible for sure - the restaurant must offer a free dish or dessert or cafe...nothing was offered. Full price paid. I will never come back after this evening. Sorry

Palazzo Filisio Hotel Regia Restaurant offers modest accommodations in a sophisticated setting, complete with a dining establishment, complimentary breakfast, and Wi-Fi access. Guests can enjoy spacious and impeccably maintained rooms that provide panoramic views of either the Adriatic Sea and the port or the cathedral. The hotel ensures all expected amenities for a four-star establishment are provided. The staff is exceptionally helpful and hospitable, going so far as to arrange car tire repairs for guests.
We spent 5 days at Palazzo Filisio and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Apart from the hotel being in a beautiful location, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. In particular I’d like to acknowledge Giovanna the front desk receptionist who was extremely helpful with organising car transport and taxis together with restaurant recommendations. Once again thank you Giovanna.

We were customers of restaurant, therefore my review is only about restaurant. We entered for dinner, passing by in the evening, not reading any review. It was a nice surprise, excelent food (ravioli for first dish and beef for second). I was offered to taste 3 wines until I got one I was looking for (excelent blend of Merlot and Syrah). Personnel was very careful and serving was by the book. Size of dishes are from my evaluation larger than in other local restaurants (first and second dishes was little to much for me). We are thinking next time to come to hotel too.

This modern hotel in a historic building has a great location and helpful and pleasant staff. It’s located Right on the harbor and next to the cathedral and castle. There is a lovely jetty to walk on. The city of Trani is pretty and very walkable. Snacks, wine, and water were available in the room. Breakfasts were delicious with a wide variety of hot and cold foods. My only gripe is that music from a party continued until 1:30 in the morning on Saturday night. The hotel is a popular site for birthdays and weddings.

Perfect if you stay in Trani and not leave the city, otherwise... First I must say that the hotel is excellent, from the friendly and very helpful service (I got great help in making restaurants’ reservations for almost what I wanted) to the spacious and very modern and clean room. Breakfast was also very good, many local amazing cheese and good espresso. Parking in front of the hotel was great as well. The only issue I had is that we took the car for trips outside Trani and to get back to the hotel was VERY tough especially at night after a long way of driving...

Fantastic experience - perfectly clean and spacious rooms with the view of the Adratic&the port or the cathedral and all the amenities to expect for a 4-start hotel. A really helpful and friendly staff (they even arranged a repair service for my car tire problem!) Upon arrival in in December, I even found an extra heater running in the room which made it pleasantly warm. The breakfast is a dream - local cheeses (including even stracciatella) and bresaola, and the cakes from the chef (the miringa was a real experience, just delicious). And the fish dishes in the restaurant are really worth trying! All in all, one of the best hotels I stayed, can really recommend.

A special thanks to Domenico, who took care of us both evenings – professional, warm, and genuinely passionate about his work. His service made the experience even more memorable. Outstanding service from all the team, with a shout-out for Domenico who was knowledgeable, informative and generous with his time in discussing the food, wine and all matters Pugilese. The local red wine, San Valentino from Villa Schinosa, was excellent and perfect accompaniment for the deer. The amusés were beautiful and a taste sensation; the starter of tuna was outstanding with a melt in the mouth texture; the scampi was delicate accompanied by gossamer thin seaweed crackers; Gargano to Salento was a rolled offal dish, with a rich but well+balanced flavour; the deer with cherries and beetroot carpacio was so tender, well seared but pink in the middle; and as for the Apulian Farmer's breakfast dessert (shared)......such simple ingredients, perfectly prepared and elegantly presented. A memorable evening and at €200 a reasonable price for both location and quality.

As I reflect on my visit to this place, I find myself struggling to find the right words to describe it. The beauty of every detail is strikingly impressive, especially the food they serve. I haven't come across another place that even comes close to matching the excellence of this one. The table at the winery is an experience that you simply can't afford to miss. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you'll cherish forever.

An exclusive restaurant, very professionally run by four brothers. The warm welcome and communication throughout the dinner left an indelible impression. The dishes surprise not only with their taste combinations, but also with their unique stories. Undoubtedly, Quintessenza is a place where you want to come.

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had! This beautiful venue is host to a team of amazing staff who are truly passionate about what they do. The food was delicious! We had the tasting menu and went for wine pairing too, every dish was full of flavour and the simple use of fantastic ingredients along with perfect seasoning and finesse in the delivery of each plate of food made for an overall five star meal. The wines were both unusual and tasty and each wine went well with the dish it was presented with. We started with a fantastic local sparkling wine as well which blew us away! The staff were so attentive, friendly and smiling and taking care of our every need and question. We would highly recommend this as a must visit restaurant if you have the budget and are visiting Trani!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Porto di Trani, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Lido Sen. Mongelli. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Porto di Trani is a charming and unpretentious harbor area with an 1800s stone building B&B offering down-to-earth rooms. In the morning, visitors can observe the bustling activity of fishermen returning with their catch. The port is surrounded by numerous seafood restaurants and eateries, providing fresh fish and a variety of dining options. It's recommended to reserve accommodations for at least two days to fully experience the calm port and its friendly atmosphere.
A very nice place to walk around. During the day you can buy fresh fish and in the evening admire the restaurants illuminated by lights.

There is a great park beside the coast to walk in etc. There is a children's playground for those who need it. We had an enjoyable low cost lunch at a bar just down a side street from the main restaurant area on the waterfront. This was a much better idea than the main tourist ones.

This place was so accommodating even though our Italian is sketchy. They made us one of the best Gin cocktails for 8 euro! The food, amazing. A platter for 7 euro. Best value for money.

Il Vecchio e il Mare is a stylish eatery with expansive sea views and a casual seafood menu. On Thursdays to Sundays, it transforms into a lively bar offering front row seats to watch the sunset while enjoying good music and refreshing drinks. The retro atmosphere, high selection of beers and wines, and proximity to a public beach make it an ideal place for relaxing evenings.
Delicious food in a dreamy location. Outstanding service. Ornella, a fantastic waitress took very good care of us. She guided us through our lunch with helpful suggestions and even managed to prepare vegan versions of their proposals. Always a kind word, she went the extra mile giving us a painkiller. Welcoming and caring. Great customer service. The orecchiette and salads were delicious! We'll come back.

Nice restaurant by the beach. The location is dreamful: close to the water and with a nice view of the city. Easy going, chill music, curated decoration. I went for lunch with my bf, and both enjoyed the atmosphere. Menu has good choice of typical dishes. Portions are abundant. We had a ‘Frittura mista’ perfectly cooked and crunchy, and ‘Orecchiette con ricotta e asparagi’ which was delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Honest prices.

At first, we were seated at a very nice table by a friendly waiter, and things looked promising. But shortly after ordering, a lady came over and in a rather rude manner told us the table was reserved and we had to move elsewhere. We then waited quite a while for the so-called “signature drinks.” One of them was completely uninspired and tasted like nothing, the other was just okay — a pity, because the creative name had raised expectations. If you want to borrow Hemingway’s name, why not serve Hemingway-inspired drinks? The location by the sea is undeniably beautiful, but service and concept matter just as much. Sadly, the staff here didn’t seem to genuinely care about guests. For now: avoid this place. You can enjoy the same seaviews for free in Trani at countless other spots — without the terrible service.

Beautiful place to drink a bottle of wine or Prosecco. The food is ordinary but what is ex ordinary is smell and see people smoke marijuana at tables. More ex ordinary when report this to an employee security and ear that is a nice smell! Even a female manager at entry it seems didn’t care much. She just said that is ok to smoke even if we said that wasn’t tobacco but marijuana. 👌👏

Terrible service. We did not get any bread (like the other guests), when we ordered wine they did not give us the option to order a bottle, they just brought two glasses, no option to see the wine list either. Tried to order another glass, which we never got. The restaurant was surprisingly well staffed, although they payed no attention to the guests. The food was okay, but every other restaurant we’ve been to in Trani was better. The music was very loud and did not create a good mood for a nice dinner. Ended up just asking for the check to end the evening in a more pleasant place.

Villa Comunale is a picturesque waterfront park in Trani, offering a serene escape with its lush greenery and charming features. Visitors can meander through the park's pathways, encountering ponds teeming with turtles and goldfish, an aviary, and a playground for leisurely enjoyment. The park provides an ideal setting for a leisurely stroll while taking in breathtaking views of the sea.
Beautiful park to sit and chill while watching the sea, to take a walk, or even to do sports. It has a pond with turtles and fish. I spent a couple of hours just daydreaming and enjoying the breeze while having a drink and a walk. There is a tiny bar in one of the corners and also public toilets quite well kept. It seemed to be a restaurant there too but I visited in winter and it was completely closed.

SPEECHLESS. I have seen many things. I have been on many journeys, but this took the cake. I wish to be there right now. I could sit there still and watch the birds fly over my head all day long. Could listen to the sea. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL. You witness parrots in the wild. You can see many beautiful flowers, plants that are common in the mediterranean area. You mustn’t miss it if you are near the city.

(Translated by Google) A magnificent place frequented by many young people. The cleaning leaves you speechless: missing. The wooden barriers that help those who want to reach the sea have been torn down or burned. There is no control. The street cleaners stop at the Colonna square. I don't want to pass judgment on the "war path" that leads to the Matinelle: a team of workers who maintained the garden of a villa saw fit to burn the remains of the villa outside the villa itself and on the sides of the "public road". So to speak. For the benefit of those who built on the sea. The Mayor should report such havoc to the Forestry Carabinieri. Trani is a "recently" tourist city. And I'm not talking about time. In my heart I would have liked to give a five star rating because it is my city but many things need to be fixed.

Walking on the Seafront, we came across this lovely gentleman who very patiently explained to us their menu offer. The deal was 1 antipasto, 1 primo and 1 secondo for the price of €25 per person. There were some exclusions lime pasta with lobster, mixed crude and salted fish. The portions for that price were adequate, and the food was good. Service with a smile. Besides the meal, we took 2 large still water, half a litre of vino della casa and two digestives. The total price including covert was €81. Thanks for the welcoming and service.

Restaurant
Pesto di Pistacchio is a delightful Italian restaurant that has received high praise for its exceptional food and service. Visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the vegetarian and vegan options, with some even considering it the best they've had in Italy. The pesto linguine stands out as a particularly outstanding dish, surpassing even traditional pesto recipes. The restaurant is owned by a charming husband and wife team who ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Pesto di Pistacchio was in one word perfect! The dishes are incredible + the staff is so kind and understanding for allergens. We loved everything! Thank you all so much and will be back soon for sure!

We ended up in here trying to find another restaurant as we got lost. Looking from the outside it looked nice, and checking out the reviews - it was good. Though as we sat down and I kept reading, I noticed it was vegan. I kind of ended up getting scared as I traveled with family and they weren't keen on vegan food. Thinking further, I ended up ordering tacos and the pistachio pesto spaghetti - and they were divine. Thanks to Pesto di Pistacchio, I can actually walk into some vegan restaurants with my parents as they really find the choices delicious. I would definitely recommend, and would totally come back if i am in Trani.

Simply outstanding! The paccheri alla carcerata alone are worth the visit — beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. Pesto di Pistacchio was the best restaurant we tried during our stay in Puglia. Every dish was prepared with great care, using high-quality ingredients and served with an elegant touch. The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming, and the owner’s kindness made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Not just excellent vegan food, but a complete dining experience that shows real passion and attention to every detail. Highly recommended — not only for vegans and vegetarians!

We ordered food for take away and it was amazing, I am looking forward to going back. We had the tortino di pasta, crocchettone di patate and the polpette al pistachio. Rarely we have eaten something so tasteful. I absolutely recommend the place!!
Sofia * — Google review
The restaurant has so much potential but most of the dishes fall short one way or the other for things that could be fixed very easily. The crocchettone was amazing but a bit too salty while some starters in the carrellata either had too much or too little salt. The same problem with the salt happened with the orecchiette, very little and a bit dry overall. The paccheri could use a bit more love. The broccoli filling was too strong and the way the dish was served was scenic but not so convenient to eat. The 3D steak was interesting but the mustard sauce was not a great pairing. The mango cheesecake was too sweet but otherwise good. Given the high price range of the restaurant, it would be amazing level up the experience.

The restaurant is popular among locals, so it's advisable to make reservations in advance. The extensive wine list features an impressive selection of champagnes and Italian wines at great value. Visitors praise the delicious sea urchin risotto and consider it worth a visit.
Wonderful restaurant! We are here for lunch in late November during the quiet season. The staff received us warmly and the chefs prepared a special appetizer for us that was so tasty and colorful. I ordered the battered prawns in pumpkin creme, it was excellent. I am a small eater so this plus the appetizer and wine was the perfect amount for me for lunch. Wonderful view of the harbor. Highly recommend.

Restaurant is right on the water. Outside tables are facing a sea. Welcome appetizers was a pleasant surprise. Eggplant Parmesan with octopus was presentable and delicious. Pasta with clams, zucchini flowers, anchovies was too salty to taste the dish. Calamari with eggplant dish was all right. Stain was chewing. Pricey and could not justified it. You pay for location.

Hotel mentioned this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. It’s a pretty restaurant with white tablecloth. The servers actually don’t speak English that well or they speak English well and just pretend they don’t speak English that well but they put two bottles of water down the table and I said we didn’t want 2 bottles after telling them twice that we only wanted the flat water and only one bottle they took one off. They brought us Parmesan cheese, which I never asked for iand then charge really when someone put food on the table on a table. I shouldn’t have to ask if it’s complementary or if they’re charging me for it without asking us to put it on the table that was very annoying they did take it off after three managers came over !’ And I complained on the up side the fish that was €49 was very good and we also had a pasta. We had a salad which was good and we had the Eggplant Parmesan, which was really good it was fried and delicious. Nothing like I’ve ever tasted before lthey charge five euros per person to sit in the restaurant just be aware of that and watch your bill

The food was good and the host at the entrance was very friendly. However, the service did not meet the expectations for this type of restaurant. We had to ask several times for different things, which were often forgotten or ignored. One of the male waiters had an attitude that our group clearly felt and didn’t appreciate. The portions are also rather small, so you need to order several courses to feel full.

Would thoroughly recommend, we arrived with our tired 10 month old grand daughter for dinner and were immediately welcomed, the team were professional and friendly, never missing out taking a few minutes to entertain my grand daughter. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Definitely a must visit if you are in Trani and want an excellent meal overlooking it’s favourite port.

A lovely restaurant right on the harbor. We went twice while we were in Trani. The first time, the food was excellent, the service very attentive. The Eggplant parmigiana was superb and creative. The eggplant filling was rolled in a thin pasta wrap and deep fried. The dish had three the size of an egg-roll. My partner had raw tuna cut into strips to mimic spaghetti. The mushroom and scampi pasta was also excellent. Wine list was extensive and somewhat higher priced than most, but they did have a nice selection of half bottles. Our second time, we again had a table looking out on the harbor. Service was lackluster. The Eggplant parmigiana tasted like it had sat in the kitchen for a while and only had two rolls this time. The fish in wrap (a plastic film) was put down, opened and left in the film, sitting in the bowl. The waiter never poured the wine or water after opening them. If you go, I hope you get them on a good night.

Great stop on our Globus tour! We had the Rissoto with sea urchin on our hour stop here. It was delicious! First rissoto we had that was not too thick. The taste was exceptional and worth a visit. This restaurant is considered fine dining so plan to spend around €50 for two people. The staff was friendly and open to Americans!

Nestled in the heart of Trani, Lido Colonna is just a short 5-minute drive away, making it an ideal spot for beach lovers. The hotel is conveniently located near notable attractions like the stunning Trani Cathedral and Chiesa di Sant'Agostino, both within easy reach. While the beach area offers a pleasant atmosphere, visitors have noted that it could benefit from more frequent cleaning.
Fantastic lido! Best service ever. All amenities available, nothing missing and the water is crystal clear
Filippo F — Google review
It's an open public beach with two private lidos. (Places with chairs n things). The water on this stretch is pretty clean. It's not crystal clear but that's because it's sandy. Car parking is ample In low season, a bit tight in high. The sand is raked once or twice a week. Last point.. the locals go there all year!
Peter B — Google review
It's quite expensive for what it is. The beach is like a wading pool so it's good for little kids, although the breakwater offshore means the water quality is often stagnant. Bar services are good, showers are free but freezing. It's popular with local families with kids so lots of ball-throwing and screaming.
K D — Google review
Nice little sand beach frequented by locals. Unfortunately the water is quite dirty and not very deep. The beach itself is also poluted. Mixed recommendation.

When in Trani, make sure to spend some time at RIVA Beach club. This city boasts beautiful beaches, and if you're willing to venture a bit further, there are even more options to explore along the coast from Bari to Brindisi. The convenience of the nearby train provides easy access to these coastal destinations, making it an ideal spot for a summer getaway.
We were there at daytime for sunbathing. Its not the cheapest place, but its clean and the stuff is friendly. We liked!

I was looking forward to visiting this place so unfortunately I have to say I was disappointed. I ordered an apperol sprits as this is my favorite coctail. To begin with I had to pay before tasting the drink and the price was a staggering 10€ When the drink arrived at the table it was served in a plastic glass even tho I could see they had the appropriate glass in the bar. An apperol should always be served with a straw. I asked the staff but they had none. On top of that the drink tasted weak and watered down. This may be because it was served with too much ice so no accusations here. But credit where credits due, the atmosphere, view and theme was an absolute thumbs up. Unfortunately the price did not match the over all quality. Note: I did not dine.

We spent 7 days on vacation in Trani, and out of those, 5 were spent at RIVA Beach — and for good reason! Our first evening was a Saturday night, and we were immediately impressed by the vibrant atmosphere with live music followed by a fantastic party. Enchanted by the food, the service, and the ambiance, we decided to return the next day to enjoy the beach — and it only got better. We were thrilled to discover that the menu changes daily, offering fresh seafood straight from the sea. Every dish was a delight, and we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the chef for his incredible work. His creativity and dedication truly made every meal a special experience. A big thank you as well to the wonderful waitstaff and bartenders who made our time feel like “la dolce vita.” Because of you, this place felt like home. Next time we come to Trani, we’ll be heading straight to RIVA Beach — no question about it! P.S. Best of luck with the new location you’re opening — we’re sure it will be just as amazing!

Historical landmark
The Trabucco Tormaresca is a remarkable establishment that emerged from a restoration initiative embracing the ancient Apulian custom. It possesses an unparalleled framework, positioned amidst the historical walls of the Monastery and the translucent waters of the cliff. Its most captivating aspects are its meticulously handcrafted wooden construction and its evocative placement. It is highly recommended to explore this spectacle during evening hours.
(Translated by Google) Spectacular location between historic walls, cliffs and clean sea. The southernmost trebuchet in Italy is striking for the skill used to erect it on the rocks. A true monument to the seafaring tradition that has characterized Trani for centuries. (Original) Location spettacolare tra mura storiche, scogliera e mare pulito. (Translated by Google) We had dinner with friends in this restaurant but defining it as such is limiting. It is a fantastic location on the sea with a super view. The dishes were then spectacular and of excellent quality. We booked saying we wanted spaghetti with sea urchin off the menu and they served them to us without problems. The impeccable service, kind boys and girls, helpful but above all competent. Even the bill was more than fair. I would recommend it to anyone going to Trani for holidays or otherwise.

Galileo is a popular pizzeria in Trani, known for its amazing pizzas and friendly staff. Located just a few steps from the sea, it offers both indoor and outdoor dining options. Customers praise the well-leavened dough and quick service provided by the attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff.
Pizza perfection along the lungomare of Trani. The ingredients are the best from the flour they use to the mozzarella to the toppings. Outstanding workmanship that the staff take great pride in serving. An eggplant parmigiana that is the best I’ve had outside of home. Focaccia that is light as a feather yet still crunchy (how do they do it?). Did not have dessert yet saw what was coming out of the kitchen and next time I will start with dessert and work my way backwards. Dining room is well appointed. Lots of locals enjoying great food. Big thumbs up 👍🏻

The pizzas were great, prices were reasonable. My only issue was that I really didn't feel that I'd be welcome here. We've been travelling around Puglia for over a week, eating at different restaurants each day, this has been the first time that I felt I'm just a bothersome nuissance, a pain in the neck for the staff.

spectacular food. chef's mixed appetizers of salmon tuna scallops and octopus with fresh ingredients and amazing dressing. then pasta was very particular especially the one cacio e pepe with fried ink..never seen before and great result. the grilled sea bream sooo fresh. local white whine delicious to accompany dinner. pleasantly surprised when the bill came. the layout is more for like a bug ceremony then for an intimate dinner but in the end food service and prices are all it matters.

For anyone travelling to Trani you must visit this amazing restaurant in the heart of the town. This Michelin restaurant offers the most amazing mouth watering food at very affordable price for everyone. Whether you are a couple or a family the menu offers a wide range of options. I will be coming back.... thanks Tanya and the team..Mark, Nicky & Christian.

Go in, sit down and order as starter the octopus with nduja sauce. Fantastic. Then choose a fresh fish and let it cook with olives and potatoes in the oven. Coupled with a glass of “fermo” dry white wine. Boom!
Paolo P — Google review
I love this restaurant. It's elegant without being stiff, the food is always delicious. They don't really have a menu because they specialize in fish and so the menu changes depending on the fresh fish available and the season. I have eaten here many times and I can highly recommend the antipastos, the pasta dishes and the main dishes with fresh fish. In particular I recommend the "crumbed oven baked mussels", the "orecchiette di grano arso con zucca e gamberi" or a whole baked fish "under salt" or "all'acqua pazza" (with tomatoes and herbs and fish broth) or baked under potatoes. Yum. Wish I could go there right now!

"Camper Park Trani" is a lovely green space located along the seafront, offering a peaceful escape with stunning views of the Adriatic sea. The park features beautiful trees, benches, a playground for children, and charming sculptures. It provides convenient camper parking close to Trani's historic center, allowing overnight stays with amenities such as electricity and grey water disposal.
Good parking , €10 for 24 hours and very easy walk to city centre. Super friendly and felt very safe. Hotel recommended.

This is very convenient for walking into Treni. It's a car park for campers and is well maintained for what it is.Looks a lot better than some of the photos & I think someone was onsite all the time. The receptionists didn't speak English but Google translate was great. We were packed in! One toilet with basin-kept clean.Expensive for what you get at 25 euros but we did get electric, water and waste included. We could stay until 3pm the next day.

Ideal location for visiting Trani . Freindly chap parking you up . Very busy so tight to other vans . Also seems lots of cars parking too . Loo nice & clean . Locked at night . Electric available. €25 a bit pricey but worth it for access to town .
J H — Google review
Parking lot for campers very close to historic center of Trani. You can stay over night for €15-25 depending on your vehicle. There is one toilet (minus one star for no toilet paper), no showers. There is electricity and the possibility to get rid of grey water. Perfect for an evening visit to Trani.
T. F — Google review
We wanted to stay there for one night, but we didn't because it wasn't for us. I don't mind paying 25 EUR per night, but not when I'm packed like sardines in a tin, while there is a plenty of space left on the parking. Not only the boss tells you where you have to park, but even which way your van must be facing (never had that in my life!). But the final deal breaker was that we couldn't have our cat waking around the van, because there is a big dog that runs freely all around the place. So he told me I couldn't have my cat out. So we went away from there and found a place much better suited for us - right on the beach and for free. But even if we had stayed there, I don't see a reason why this overpriced parking would get more than 3 stars.

Stayed 2 nights here as the location is great - Just a 5 minute walk to Trani harbour and old town . Secure and safe with guy there throughout the night. Has toilet, water and elsan drop off. The 2 gentlemen managing it were very pleasant and helpful . Great for bikes too - we cycled to Bisceglie while we were there. Would definitely go back and recommend to others. Thanks :)

Lido Bella Venezia 1910 "new management" is a small beach with an incredible view of the pier and the Cathedral. It offers lounge chair rental with waiter service and features an upscale restaurant right next to the sea. The seaside restaurant bar is located in a beautiful garden near the port area, offering a varied menu including fish at medium-high prices.
We stopped by for a drinks, Aperol spritz (7€) and beer (3€), we didn’t get menu but didn’t ask for it either when they came to collect our order. Prices similar to other places around, good place if you want some peace by the sea

Upperscale location in the heart of the city/villa comunale and with amazing view! The waiter that welcomes you might give you the feeling of a bit of a snobby place but thankfully the rest of the team knows how to make you feel at ease. The manager and the chef (who are a couple) run it with the experience of a Michelin star restaurant but with the feeling and the passion of a family-run facility. You have two menus (both "a la carte" despite whatever the waiter will tell you!! ) the outside/outdoors restaurant is medium /averagely priced menu with excellent quality of raw ingredients finely prepared but just 10 items on the list, I haven't tried the "indoors" (you are surrounded by the sea in the "indoors" see photo!) yet but I guess is very similar just with wider selection. Highly recommended for special occasions or just aperitivos or nice lunch by the sea (literally BY the sea!).

Chiesa d'Ognissanti, located in the historic center of Trani, is a debated Templar church dating back to the 12th century. The romanesque-style building features a portico with columns and a closed gate. Currently under restoration, visitors can admire its bell tower and fine window sculptures from the outside. Although closed at present, the interior is said to house remarkable paintings and wood carvings, making it a must-see for enthusiasts of medieval history.
Wonderful monument of medieval culture and architecture. Church was documented already in 1170 and belonged to the Knights Templars till the dissolution of that order. Excellent example of Norman Romanesque architecture in South Italy. Another "must see" place in Trani. Admission is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated.

(Translated by Google) The church is in Apulian Romanesque style, having been built in the 12th century and associated with the Order of the Templars, believed to be the place from which the Crusaders departed for the Holy Land. For this reason, it is also called the Church of the Templars, or the Church of Purgatory, after the cult of the same name that took place in the 19th century. As with the Cathedral, pinkish white Trani stone was used here. The entrances are under a gated portico; the apses at the rear, behind a gate, reflect the three-nave plan, and the two side aisles feature stained glass. The lunettes are decorated and frieze-lined. The church is almost symmetrical along its longitudinal axis, and residential buildings are located above it. Inside, the ceiling features truss vaults in the central nave and ribbed vaults in the side naves; the columns are made of granite. There are several artistic paintings and a wooden crucifix in the right nave.

(Translated by Google) An incredible collection of hundreds of typewriters and archaeological artifacts from various eras. A full morning is needed to fully explore it. Four stars instead of five because the Italian captions contain numerous typos ("Hamingway") and the English translations are downright grotesque ("vowels," referring to the vowels on typewriter keys, translated as "voices" instead of "vowels," for example). Furthermore, the area housing Daunia and Italic artifacts could be better lit to make them more visible.

The latter are housed here because entrepreneur Natale Pagano founded his own business in the city, after a long stint at Olivetti in Ivrea, and began collecting typewriters. The Palazzo Lodispoto houses the following sections: the Diocesan Museum on the second floor, with coats of arms, epigraphs, tombstones, and church furnishings; the Typewriter Museum on the first floor, with the Olivetti section in the basement; the Conference Hall, an event space, and the Cafeteria on the ground floor. The typewriters include 500 pieces on display: from keyboards in various languages, with duplicated uppercase and lowercase keys, or in Braille; from primitive models to electronic ones from recent decades, including famous movie models and toy models intended for children. The Museum has a partnership with the Sant'Anna Synagogue Museum: by presenting the other's ticket to one, you receive a discount on the second visit. The full price for admission is €7 (reduced to €5). Without a guided tour, but following the itinerary with the brochure provided at the entrance, the visit lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. We really appreciated the various things displayed on the 2nd Diocesan floor, the only flaws being, very few explanations and some areas of the 2nd floor that were really poorly ventilated. There are also objects found during the excavations of Egnazia, (which I recommend going to see), very beautiful, but fortunately nothing compared to what is found in the Egnazia headquarters. We also appreciated the humorous photographs of the comics that took me back in time... And we found lots of typewriters up to the first personal computers and laptops that made us remember the early days. What can I say... A place to visit with beautiful views. The Synagogue Museum of Sant'Anna is a captivating historical site located in the heart of Trani's Giudecca di Trani neighborhood. Originally built as a synagogue, it was transformed into a Catholic church dedicated to Saint Anna during the late 13th century under Angevins rule.

We decided to visit the Sinagogue Trani Museum, which costs €4 to enter. The history of the synagogue is definitely interesting, and it's worthwhile to learn about the Jewish community's past in Trani. However, it's not a place where you feel like you'd be missing anything if you didn't go. It's a small museum, and the visit is fairly quick. The one major upside, and a recurring theme on our trip, was that it offered a fantastic and cool refuge from the heat. The quiet, stone interior was a peaceful escape from the busy streets outside, and we were grateful for the chance to sit and enjoy the coolness for a while. So, for €4, it’s an interesting but not essential stop. The history is worth a look if you have the time and are in the area, but the real value might just be the cool, quiet break it offers from a hot day of walking.

Corteinfiore is a charming seafood restaurant nestled in the historic Jewish Ghetto, housed within a 16th-century building just a stone's throw from the harbor. Run by Michele Matera and his wife Loredana, this eatery has been delighting patrons for two decades with its creative Mediterranean dishes that highlight fresh catches from local waters. The airy ambiance features beautiful stone walls and an enchanting winter garden adorned with lotuses, pomegranates, citrus trees, and apricots.

We had the set menu and were really excited about dinner but I think the restaurant is a victim of its own success and it felt like they made little effort. There was no explanation of the courses, we were stuck in the back room with all the tourists and children and 2 successive pasta courses was just too filling. there was also very little fish/prawn to pasta ratio. For the money it was extremely poor value.

Osteria La Perla del Sud is a charming restaurant located in Trani, offering a lovely seaside setting with a view of the harbor. The menu, although limited at lunchtime, features delicious and well-cooked dishes at reasonable prices. Guests have praised the attentive and helpful service, as well as the quality of the seafood and house wine. Despite some isolated incidents with service timing, many diners would consider returning for a relaxing meal in this beautiful location by the port.
We had lunch here today and everything was perfect. Often one feels that restaurants in nice locations such as this rely on their location rather than food and service. That is definitely not the case here. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food and wine were both reasonably priced and delicious.

A late lunch on the seaside walk in Trani. Lovely location, good food. I had a ravioli (small but adequate portion) and my partner had a shrimp on orecchiette. Our server disappeared for 20 minutes, with nobody else filling the gap. I suspect that was an individual issue and not reflective of the restaurant overall. I would go again if I was in Trani looking for a relaxing lunch.

Food is not fresh at all, simple fried anchovies (acciuge) did not have a consistent structure, thus not fresh, was not crispy. The “polpo” (arms of octopus, not the sepia or calamar) was a hidden kind of calamar, it was rubber, caoutchouc type and uneatable. Polpo arms are normally ~2cm thick here in south Italy and very fresh and enjoyable food in all type of preparations. Here the pieces were not recognizable and were the little spare arms of a calamar. They were white and chewy, I could not enter my fork into a 1 cm thick piece of chewy fish. I returned the whole plate. As secundo (main dish) we ordered Orata and Spigola (seabream and seabass), instead we got two Orata. I did not accept it, as I had those two times during last week and wanted to switch to my wife’s prior selection of Spigola. Message from the chef: sorry we are out of Spigola… still he accepted my order, probably with the expectation that being a tourist I would accept everything and eat everything they serve. Result, my wife kind of finished here plate, I had no secundo. Thus: NO over the whole line. Furthermore, quality was overall poor, service was inexisting from the start while being assigned a table, and I had a debate with the surprisingly young female owner who understood and spoke English (mind I do understand Italian and also speak some basic Italian language) who started to contest my experience and led us to a discussion I don’t want to have on a vacation. Bottomline: Stay away, Avoid, Tourist trap, Bad food.

Great location and was excited to eat here, however the staff were very rude to tourists. They didn’t have an English menu and if you didn’t speak Italian then you were ignored. We sat there for 45 minutes before the dinner rush and didn't see a server to get our dinner order even after waving down a waiter multiple times. Was not impressed with their service nor their menu. However, wine selection was good.

Set in a nice position overlooking the harbour this restaurant had a fairly limited menu at lunchtime but what I did choose was very tasty and well cooked. Prices were very reasonable for food and wine by the glass. I would definitely consider returning,.

Beer hall
Step into the enchanting world of Re Artù, a pub birreria that transports you back to the Middle Ages, nestled conveniently near the stunning Basilika. This charming establishment boasts an impressive interior and delightful outdoor seating with breathtaking views. The menu is a carnivore's dream, perfect for those looking to indulge after sampling Trani's seafood delights. Beer enthusiasts will appreciate the extensive selection, featuring renowned brews from Weihenstephan in Germany and exceptional Belgian options.
A great find when you have ate all the Pizza and Pasta you want. Steak and hamburger was perfect, Steakhouse atmosphere was perfect. Great menu.

The food was excellent. Service was okay ( one food was mixed up and came later) Not all the servers speak English. When napkins run out they brought immediately and we even got suggestions on what goes well with what. Not suitable for wheelchair users as there are steps and narrow passages. With children is great as there are kids menus but also other items kids can eat.

Back to the Middle Ages we go - almost next to the amazing Basilika, this pub offers both a spectacular interior and superb views (sitting outdoors) plus very decent food, of course. The fare is mostly targeting us carnivores, so in case you've got your share of fish treats in Trani, this is the place. Excellent beer selection as well, including Weihenstephan (Germany) and some very good beers from Belgium. Friendly, attentive staff added to the pleasant dinner.

Very nice beer and meat the only thing is the owner is a big man but he give his client food like a child menu it’s very less fries and vegetables, after we eat we still hungry

Established in 1994, and feels like a throwback to a time of quality meat, cold beer and surly service. All survive in this lively joint, perfect for those who fancy atmosphere with their arteriosclerosis.

Restaurant
Nestled in a charming piazza that exudes the essence of local life, La Locanda del Giullare is more than just a restaurant; it’s a heartwarming initiative aimed at empowering young individuals with special needs. During our visit to Trani, we stumbled upon this gem while searching for an authentic dining experience away from the usual tourist spots. The fixed menu offered an array of delightful dishes, starting with divine octopus and exquisite carpaccio.
"La Locanda del Giullare" is more than just a wonderful place, it's a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and the service is provided by friendly and courteous staff. I ate there for three days in a row and had a great time. The menu was always rich and made with typical products of excellent quality. In addition, during one of my visits, the staff took the time to illustrate to the guests the philosophy and message behind their business, making the experience even more enjoyable and complete. Highly recommended

What a fantastic experience!!!!! Located on a piazza with all the atmosphere of a local neighborhood is this little restaurant called La Locanda del Giullare. It is an iniziative to give young people with special needs an opportunity to be productive members of the community. We saw Elio in early evening while we were searching for a place to eat near our B&B near the center of Trani. He told us that it was a fixed menu for appetizer, first second, dessert and coffee. I’m so glad that none of the other places suited our needs because we had an incredible meal. It was like having dinner at your Italian relatives house while visiting in Italy but prepared by a professional chef and served by the sweetest, most attentive waiter all for €25. I only wish we could go back today but they are hosting an anniversary party. Fantastic initiative and incredible experience.we wish them continued success.

A very good discover ! We were 25 persons for dinner, the director welcome us with smile and good vibes 😎 He presented us the concept of the restaurant, all of the workers inside have an handicap and a talent (Davide did the service and a one man show !!). It was a very good and fun moment, the food was good ! Thanks 🙏🏼

I happened to find this lovely restaurant by chance with my partner. He is British and I wanted him to taste what Italy really has to offer when you don't fall into tourist traps. Well, this place realized our dreams. My octopus starter was divine and so was my partner's carpaccio. The main course lived up to expectations with a marvellous cooked branzino for my partner (of a size and taste that you can't simply find in the UK) and an amazing frittura mista for me. The chef let me know that the calamari were freshly fished and you could definetely tell that as they broke easily with every bite (in other places you will find them chewy). Best frittura mista of the week! Also, the staff was lovely, treated us nicely and guided us in the choice of the most appropriate wine. I would definitely come back!
