The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a must-visit destination, featuring three renowned ships: The Mary Rose, HMS Victory, and HMS Warrior. The Mary Rose Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Tudor life with over 19,000 artifacts on display alongside the well-preserved warship. Visitors can explore nine galleries showcasing the ship's history. Meanwhile, HMS Victory is famous for its role in the Battle of Trafalgar and now features an under hull walkway for a unique perspective.
Great place 100% worth visiting. There is lots to see & learn. Its a really interesting place with a number of ships & museums you can look around. Pricing is fair considering the amount you can do & all entry fees into the exhibits go towards the upkeep of the yard & if you just want to walk around it is free, you just cant go into the ships, but can use the giftshops, the free entry museum & the cafe. You can also get a informative boat tour around Portsmouth harbour from here which i would recommend.

Definitely worth the visit and the money. Got the ultimate explorer which allowed unlimited access for 12 months. 1. 10.15 to 11.30 am - HMS Warrior - (Definitely say hi to the lad on table 27) 2. 11.30 to 12 noon - snack break (better to carry snacks from home) 3. 12.15 to 1 pm - Harbour boat tour (included with ulimate explorer ticket) - they take you round the dock and give an overview of the surroundings There are tours every quarter past (10.15, 11.15 etc) 4. 1 to 1.30 pm - Mary Rose - I didn't find much to see here apart from the ship - the 4D cinema is not actually 4D, there are no glasses 5. 1.30 to 2.30 - HMS Victory- they give you audio guide to listen to 6. 2.30 to 3 - Lunch (fish and chip cost 15 and chicken cojouns and chips cost 13) 7. 3pm onwards rest of the places Had to skip water bus due to shortage of time, hence couldn't see the submarine and firepower museum. Note: if you are traveling with kids/elders be mindful because some of the steps are steep. Overall it was grand.
Natasha D — Google review
Great day out, but come more than once to see everything. If you only came once for a few hours, it would not be good value. The boat tour was great, really good commentary. Other boat trips to various attractions often full. Lots of places to eat and drink. Without fail, all of the staff are friendly and helpful. Only negative is that the only way to get a map of the place is to buy a guide book!
Mark H — Google review
A great day out for all the family, particularly history buffs! Get the all inclusive ticket which gives you access to all the exhibits. Really, it can be a two day visit if you want to include the submarine and explosives museum and boat tour. Be aware though that the explosives museum isn't open every day.
Timothy W — Google review
We arrived at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard with no real idea of what to expect – luckily, one of our travel companions knew exactly what this remarkable place was about and became our personal guide through history. The morning started with rain (as it should in England), but by the afternoon the sun came out, giving us the perfect setting to explore the ships and round it all off with a boat tour of the harbour. Standing on decks that once carried sailors across the world was both impressive and humbling – a living reminder of naval history brought to life. The whole experience was well worth the visit: history, atmosphere, and the sheer scale of the Royal Navy’s past glory. And as every proper British adventure should end – we closed the day in a nearby pub, with a cold pint and classic fish & chips. A perfect conclusion to a perfect day.
Max H — Google review
That's our second visit and this time we stayed for 4 days - which is necessary if you want to see everything and was absolutely worth it. It is really a great museum and the volunteers/employees are all very helpful and nice. The only downside is that it lacks documentation in French (and other languages) apart from the audioguide on the Victory. Being the only person proficient in English in our group, I've spent the four days orally translating everything which was a bit tiring :-D even though that's my usual day job - so I would suggest adding a few signs in other languages for a start.
Terebenthine - — Google review
Need more than a day to see everything. The Victory audio guide tour was superb, and the Mary Rose museum beautifully done. Cafe a little disappointing, no hot snacks on a VERY wet afternoon, fruit scone tasted like it had been on the Victory! Could do with better info on what parts were open or closed and when things closed that day.
Andy P — Google review
A friend recommended the Dockyard, and it was absolutely worth it! We spent two full days there and still didn’t manage to see everything. The site is huge, with a 45-minute guided tour and several themed museums. The Submarine and Firepower exhibitions are located in Gosport, which you can reach by water bus, so it’s best to plan your time accordingly. Overall, a fantastic experience.

The Spinnaker Tower, a prominent landmark in Portsmouth, offers visitors an unforgettable experience. Standing at 170 meters tall, it provides stunning 360-degree views of Portsmouth Harbour, the South coast, and the Isle of Wight. The tower features a glass-floored platform and an on-site cafe for visitors to enjoy. Constructed with an elegant design, it has become a national icon for Britain since its opening in October 2005.
Absolutely amazing place with breathtaking views and a lovely cafe. I visited on my second ever trip to Portsmouth as I was mesmerised by the first visit and knew I had to come back. I visited on a week day and there was no wait in the morning. We were instantly greeted by lovely staff who were very welcoming and kind. The lift was extremely quick and even for me, someone who isn’t fond of lifts, I rather enjoyed the trip up because of the facts the staff member was giving us on the way up. I arrived on the viewing deck and immediately was amazed. You could see all the way to the Isle of Wight and across Portsmouth. The glass floor was especially cool (but scary!!) and was amazing to go on. We made our way up to the cafe where we got to further enjoy the views and have some lovely snacks and drinks. The top floor was also very cool, with the feeling of fresh air and a telescope to look through. The gift shop was also lovely and I got a mini model of the tower in there which I adore. We had a day ticket and we came back in the afternoon and enjoyed the views once again. Overall great experience and something definitely not to miss when visiting!
Eliza — Google review
Loved this! Bought a day ticket, which meant we could go back anytime during the day. As it was a bright, sunny day, the views were wonderful. It was very busy in the morning due to school groups, I would recommend going later in the afternoon. Much less busy and a more relaxing visit altogether! The glass floor was fun. We had tea and cake in the cafe and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - we even forked out for the photos and have been able to download them at home as well. Obviously a sunny day helps make the experience better!
Stephanie C — Google review
I was lucky with the weather and had gorgeous views all round. It was fun watching ferries and other shipping coming in and out. One ferry had some nail biting moments entering a narrow port area! Next time I will book an afternoon tea up in the clouds.
Kate A — Google review
Worth booking at least 24hrs in advance on line to get a discount. Pay on the day is £18.95 adult price. Get the lift to the viewing gallery and see great views across Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent and the Isle of Wight. There is a section of glass floor you can walk over looking all the way down to the ground. There are stairs leading further up to the outdoor garden. There is a cafe in the tower or plenty of eating places in the surrounding area.
Shaun J — Google review
Beautiful view, blah, blah. It is the staff that make this such a wonderful day out. From the ticket desk, to the lift operator, to everyone in the Spinnaker Kitchen, every single team member we interacted with was absolutely delightful, smiling, helpful and lovely. Thank you to everyone who works there 👍🏻
Phil G — Google review
I came to visit Spinnaker tower on the 17.10.25. I did not realise it was the towers 20th Anniversary. It was well worth the time and money being up in the tower was absolutely amazing, you could see the isle of Wight, Southampton and even Gosport. The view from up above is simply breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back during the night.
Yvonne C — Google review
The Spinnaker is a great experience. The views were stunning. There was a lovely rainbow. I didn't dare to walk on the glass floor, it had several cracks in the glass.

Great, if a little pricey activity to include on a trip to Portsmouth. Fabulous views on all three levels IF you time your visit to when it's clear. For Best value book 24 hours in advance. The Coffee ☕ lounge on the middle deck is well worth stopping by. Team member Caroline, who was on Coffees during my visit, deserves a huge shout out as she is very customer focused, hard working and welcoming.

Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve is a serene and educational destination, featuring raised trails that allow visitors to explore its protected natural environment. The reserve spans 369 acres of river, fen, pools, reedbeds, and meadows teeming with diverse wildlife. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks and birdwatching, with 189 different species spotted in 2022.
We had a really lovely family walk. The reserve is undergoing some maintenance so not everything was accessible but, because of that, there was no admission charge. The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful - and we're great with the children. We hired backpacks which included a magnifying glass, activity sheets, and a spotters guide and they were just £1! The children loved them! Adults could also borrow binoculars for free. We were able to buy hot and cold drinks as well as ice creams. We will definitely be back to see the other side when it opens!
Amie J — Google review
The kind of place you can get away from it all and sit in the hides listening to birds. There’s plenty of parking along the sea wall and usually an ice cream van in situ! The nature reserve reception has temporarily moved down into the reserve but still offers the all important duck feed for a £1 per bag and basic snacks. The cafe as it once was has now gone. There are several paths through the reserve and we find the signage a little confusing but it’s a peaceful place. Watch out for the little mouse hole doors at floor level for children to spot!

Located near the Le-on-the-solent in the south of England, the Earth Preservatory Land is a beautiful destination, especially for those who are passionate about birdwatching. One of the highlights here is spotting the kingfisher, which adds to the charm of this place. To start your visit, you’ll need to park your car on the street at a rate of £1.1 per hour. The visitor’s ticket costs around £6 for adults, which is reasonable considering the experience. After purchasing your ticket, you walk about 100 yards from the visitor's office to the entrance gate. The path is well-marked and easy to navigate. It’s worth noting that refreshments like ice cream and other amenities are only available at the visitor’s office. Once you enter the preservatory land, it’s all about immersing yourself in the birdwatching experience, without access to additional amenities. Inside, there are four or five designated "hot spots" where you can stop and observe the birds. These hot spots are equipped with shelters and windows, which can be opened on good weather days, giving you a clear view of the surrounding small lakes. These lakes serve as peaceful habitats for various bird species. The length of the path leading to these hot spots is less than a kilometer, making it a pleasant and accessible walk. Overall, Earth Preservatory Land is a great place for a serene walk and some memorable birdwatching moments.
Aliakbar S — Google review
It's such a stunning area. We parked on the sea front, which was £1.50 an hour up to full day. The coastal path is nearly flat to the beach with plenty of parking bays available up to 11am. A van sells top quality drinks there, plus there are loos. Shingle beach with breakers but slow slope into the sea. Clear view to the isle of White. The marshes national park are off this road and have well marked paths and the reserve is full of birds to watch. There is a great hide to sit in and to observe from that you can see from the carpark. We really enjoyed our day with only an hour's drive from Basingstoke. It was supper to just sit and watch the boats and surfers. Pretty amazing walks and sceenery, at very little cost as a day out.
Patricia B — Google review
We only saw a bit of the reserve as we were short on time. The bird hides were plentiful if you know how to get to them.
Sandra — Google review
Peaceful walk. The new restaurant opens next week which has a view over the boats and the many birds that use the water. Love stopping for an ice cream at the whippy truck. Really worth a visit
Kerry C — Google review
This reserve is amazing. Even for one like me who is not an expert birdwatcher there is much to admire in the birdlife around the lakes. 189 different species were apparently spotted on this site in 2022. With some help I identified 17 species, so I have some way to go. The nature reserve is split in to separate sections each with a well maintained footpath and several hides. There is an entry fee with a discount available for Senior Citizens.

Beautiful and large reserve . Knowledgeable and kind staff, the gentleman we met today was amazing at talking us through the map. Was able to borrow binoculars which was great. Will be back again.

Pub
Restaurant
The Ship Anson is a Portsmouth pub with a traditional British feel and hearty food. It's popular with both residents and visitors, and is situated just steps from the iconic Harbour. There are tables and chairs outside, as well as a small patio area, making it a great place to watch live sports in the city.
My friends and I had a very hearty lunch at this pub. Their steak and ale pie with mash and peas was very tasty. Also since it's a pub, they have a pretty good selection of beers and ales. Personally, I enjoyed the Olde Trip. The service was friendly, fast and very efficient. I can recommend this pub for drinks, or food, or both.
Slava K — Google review
Very good selection of beer, and awesome ciders (if you like cider try them out!!!!). Food was generous and served pretty fast. Special mention for the sticky pudding, a must try. I have to mention about the staff as I’ve seen a lot of reviews naming « friendly staff » and such : it wasn’t my experience at all, both ladies at the counter were acting pissed towards me and I felt like I was not welcomed for no reasons, maybe because of my North American accent or French Canadian one? Anyways this lowered the quality of my experience. Smell of alcohol, loud clients, lots of navy stuff all around, makes it an authentic pub, try it, it’s not expensive and British navy flavor all the way.
Xavier M — Google review
I’m a bit “old fashioned” and being at sea nearly 35 years I do like a good maritime pub. I’ve been in Portsmouth 3 months and I have enjoyed the service and food here at the Ship A! The staff work hard and at times are ran ragged. This is a proud pub with its roots in maritime heritage and the Union flag. Love this place so much I bought the T-shirt.
Summit S — Google review
Friendly locals, interesting interior, bit too hot inside, and unfortunately I was disappointed with the steak and ale pie as the crust was so hard and almost impossible to cut, was probably in microwave too long, also meat a bit fatty. It was edible and I hadn't eaten all day so I didn't complain. Nobody came to ask me if everything was OK. However the meals my sons had looked good but I will go elsewhere next time I'm in Portsmouth.
Helen S — Google review
The best Sunday dinner I’ve eaten during my stay in England. Excellent selection of beer 🍻 and friendly staff. The place was very busy when we visited and the atmosphere was fantastic. You’re surrounded by conversations and laughter.
Christoffel D — Google review
Lovely pub, sea views, great staff who were super friendly, excellent local knowledge and a sense of humour! They offered for me to come and pull a pint too which was very funny. I think I was served by a woman called Meg - not sure - but shout-out Meg. Another Greene King coming in clutch with the 20% student discount!
Tris — Google review
The Ship Anson is exactly what you hope for when you stumble into a British pub: noisy in the best way, full of characters, and with beer that tastes like it has been keeping sailors alive for centuries. We walked in as strangers and walked out as honorary Portsmouth locals – or at least that’s how it felt after a few pints. The banter flies across the room like cannon fire, the atmosphere is warm but sharp, and the staff know how to keep the glasses full without killing the vibe. Back home in Switzerland, such a night would be impossible: we’d all sit in silence, nursing one overpriced drink, while waiting for the last bus. Here, we laughed with people we’d never met, shouted across tables, and felt part of something bigger than ourselves. The Ship Anson isn’t just a pub – it’s proof that Britain’s greatest empire is still alive, and it’s built of wood, brass, and beer. We’ll be back.
Max H — Google review
Belting boozer just outside Portsmouths major tourist traps. Minimal but ok menu. Beer selection more than makes up for any downsides though, and please try the house bitter, well worth it. 💯% Recomended

The Osborne View is a pub located along Hill Head Beach with direct access to the shingle beach. It offers stunning views across the Solent, named after Osborne House, the residential home of HM Queen Victoria on the Isle of Wight. The pub features large picture windows that provide a view of the Solent and a large raised, decked patio as well as a separate outside bar. Visitors can enjoy unfussy food and beer while taking in the picturesque scenery from this beachfront location.
Keep on coming back here.. we had sumptuous dinner and drinks. Staff are friendly. Atmosphere is great. We enjoyed the sunset outside the spacious sitting area. Definitely back again soon.. highly recommended.

Went for Boxing Day Lunch. Fantastic experience all in all. We had 3 menus to select from which was excellent considering it was Christmas time, all of the many options sounded incredible for starter, main and dessert. The wait for the main to arrive was around 45 minutes which is understandable given how busy it was. Fantastic, friendly staff. Would personally recommend the Lemon Pousset for dessert. The view of the water and across to the Isle of white from our table was also amazing.

Great pub in the seafront for a meal or for a drink with friends/family. I had the fish and chips wich it was a decent protion and the fish was okay wich i was expecting haddock or cod and i had something else wich i never had it before. chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce as a dessert and it was on the specials menu. Our nan had the crayfish spaghetti with chives and she said it was delicious, she would come back if the chef put it in he's menu. The atmosphere is good, nice views if you book a table next to the window, good costumer service from the waitress. I would recomend this place and I will come back if I'm arround the area.

Best pub lunch of any of the pubs we’ve tried whilst staying locally. Busy, popular place serving an excellent menu; we were a group of 5 on New Year’s Day. We sampled the Daily Roast (rare, generous, thick slices of pink beef); the fish & chips (large piece of cod with delicious batter & thrice cooked chips & salad); the pork belly salad; the pie & the double bacon cheeseburger. All excellent & eaten overlooking the beach & the view to the Isle of Wight. Well cooked, generous portions & tasty, washed down with pints of cider & Fursty Ferret amber ale. Great experience; efficient friendly staff. Dog friendly! Perfect after a bracing beach walk. Sadly we didn’t have room for desserts. We will return!
Emma V — Google review
We visited whilst passing on a walk and were fortunate enough to get a bar service table with a sea view (weekday lunchtime). There didn't seem to be a large selection on the menu, but the food was well cooked and presented. I wouldn't make it a regular place to go, but would certainly use again.
Mark — Google review
A great venue after a nice walk with the family on the beach. We could not get into the restaurant but ended up outside on the decking. Ordered beef roast dinners and kids meals. The only reservation... the cheeseburger ordered from the kids menu was made for an adult (mustard burger sauce and relish). You cannot get coffee downstairs and have to go up 2 floors to order it. It would be beneficial to allow guests to order on the veranda with waiting staff delivering to the table. Would have given 5 stars if I did not have to get the coffee.
Mark R — Google review
Great views and great food. Free car parking but the service wasn't good at all. We were rushed to order and then a long waiting for a couple of drinks. Then we ordered some food and some more drinks, we had to remind them a few times about the drinks and the sauces never arrived.

I visited Osborne VIew as it was recommended to me. Probably the best burger I have had in a long time. Very nice and I look forward to coming back when I next visit the area. Great views too, but it was starting to get dark so my picture doesn't do it justice! Thanks very much

Fort Nelson, situated on Portsdown Hill in Hampshire, is a restored Victorian fortress that was built between 1860 and 1871 as part of the Palmerston Forts to safeguard Portsmouth and its Dockyard from potential invasion. It houses a remarkable collection of artillery from different periods, including a 15th-century Turkish bombard cannon, a massive 200-tonne railway howitzer, and the notorious Big Babylon Iraqi supergun.
Amazing hidden gem. Easy to get to from M27. Massive fort with plenty of helpful staff to guide you and answer questions. Lots of young children there running about and enjoying the outside space. Kids loved long the underground tunnels. Free of charge except for a modest parking charge. Spent a couple of hours there. Incredible collection of cannons and other military equipment. Would definitely recommend for all ages. A real must see.
Barbara F — Google review
We had the best time exploring this local peice of history. The Fort has been well looked after and you can clearly see the ongoing work to restore sections and to keep it going. The exhibits were great, very knowledgeable and interactive. The tunnels were fascinating and give a real feel for it would have been like for our serving solders at the time. The summer assault course was also well loved by our child, reasonable price and can go around as many times as you like. Entrance is free just pay for parking £3. There is a donation box which suggest £3 a visit but definitely worth more than that for a few hours amusement. We will be taking a picnic next time so we can stay for longer.

A very wet and blustery day today, but despite this me and my father had a wonderful time at fort Nelson today. We have been once before and we returned again and what a pleasure it was. Fort Nelson has always been a fantastic display of history and an Incredible piece of military construction. The new D- Day exhibition was a nice touch this time and as usual the cafe delivered top notch service and food! Please do come here it's such a wonderful place! The staff are also extremely friendly especially the lady at the gift shop!

What a great experience, I last went here in the 90's when I lived in Portsmouth. It now has a wonderful new entry with shop amd cafe. The whole museum feels fresh and welcoming. The displays are very informative and the kiosk at the parade ground has very warm and friendly staff. I would highly recommend this museum

A wonderful example of a nineteenth century fort. One of 20 forts built in the 1860s to defend Portsmouth. Also houses an amazing collection of guns, mainly big ones. You can explore the fort and the underground tunnels. And it’s free! Just pay £3 to park.
John S — Google review
Excellent experience. The current exhibition "Standing with Giants" is very moving in the way it displays the number of soldiers, sailors, airmen and civilians killed on D-Day. The museum itself eloquently shows the evolution of armaments through the ages and also how Britain protected itself from foreign invasion in the past. A great day out.

A very moving display in a great back drop. It would have been 5 stars, however pushing a wheelchair around the gravel surface was a massive challenge. A temporary pathway would have been benefical.

If you like history and Victorian buildings, well worth a visit, was impressed with how much there was to see and the quality of displays. Can't argue with it being free and £3 to park, didn't expect that

Easy booking, great discounts with the membership, amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff with great attention to safety and making sure you have a good time, the equipment and karts are great and the track is a good challenge for all types of corners. The bar area is clean and well stocked with food and drinks.

Really encouraging of my son who didn't have a very good first race and one was kind enough to try explaining the pedals etc more to him and even slowed his adult kart (he's too tall for the kids ones) so he then had a much better second race and really enjoyed himself! So much so he wants to come back already - thank you to the staff who were all really friendly both at the track and at the bar/reception

What a great time my family had at TeamSport. The venue was clean, well maintained and the staff were brilliant, really friendly and encouraging. We were a group of four and we were lucky enough to have the whole track to ourselves, which is unusual. Can highly recommend this venue.
Lynda A — Google review
Great service and great fun.. however it appears the day was over booked - we was there a total of 3 hours+ for 2 15 mins races. A little long considering we were on a stag and had other plans too. Outside of that though - brilliant.
Gary M — Google review
It was my first time so I swerved a few times and was stopping and starting at first. The staff there were so kind and I got great advice for how to drive which really helped me. I didn't turn as fast as I should have at a bend and crashed - their kindness helped me calm down and they made sure I felt well enough to continue. Overall it was a great experience for a first time even with the forceful crash and I'd go back there specifically again to re-try go karting.
Megan — Google review
Great time but all credit to all staff every time we go , safety is number 1 on there mind , so lots of fun

Incredible racing experience, all of our group really enjoyed it for stag do party and we definitely will want to come again! Highly recommended!

What a day….. we was out in a family session with my daughter of 9 who was VERY nervous and unfortunately there was a few adults who wasn’t really being cautious with the kids out so we was removed from that session by Jack, Brad and Joe who then put us out on our own for my daughter to gain confidence which she did. They then continued to go above and beyond to aid us in having an amazing day. Jack, Brad and Joe really did make our day and give my daughter the confidence to want to come back asap. Thank you again Gents. Big love 💙

Titchfield Abbey, located in the picturesque valley of the River Meon in south Hampshire, is a 13th-century monastery with extensive ruins and an imposing Tudor gatehouse. The site is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument under the care of English Heritage. It offers a dementia-friendly environment with calming gardens and regular events for visitors to enjoy.
The ruins of this 13th Century Abbey which was remodelled into a grand mansion following the Dissolution of monasteries during Henry V111's reign, is a lovely little visit if in the area. Maintained by English Heritage it is Free entry. There is an area for Parking which is through a small, tight entrance. I walked here so not sure if parking free orher than if your an English Heritage member. The ruins are lovely to walk around and I noted a number of people sitting on the grass areas enjoying picnics. There are 2 porta loos (Toilets) available.

This is a stunning historical site that transports visitors back in time. Originally a 13th-century abbey, it later became a Tudor mansion, and its well-preserved ruins reflect this rich history. The Gothic architecture and remnants of the grand gatehouse and cloisters are particularly striking. The abbey is set in a peaceful, scenic location, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed exploration. Whether you're a history buff or simply enjoy picturesque ruins, Titchfield Abbey offers a fascinating and serene experience.

Excellent English Heritage site Free entry. Dog friendly.Free parking for members, a narrow entrance for large vehicles, sharp turn.
Jane — Google review
Free to visit, small charge for parking. Nice 30mins look around or longer if you bring a picnic. Drive through gate is narrow and yes that is the only entrance. We'll worth a look if you are passing. Some nice tiles.

Boyfriend chose this place to visit just yesterday. It wasn't raining really hard but just drizzles. Anyways, still we enjoyed the place. He loves historical places so we went to Titchfield Abbey. Ride the bus X4/X5 from Central Station, used Google maps to see where we are and where we're stopping. Bought return tickets as well. It was a not so long walk from the bus stop. Great people!
Wedalyn D — Google review
If you like ruins in the middle of nowhere with no facilities then this is for you. Free off road parking.

So lovely! Bright blue skies. Fascinating place.
Allison B — Google review
Worth a few minutes of your time if passing to see this ruined Tudor mansion. Combine with a trip to the church in the nearby village of Titchfield for an interesting insight into the 'Risley' Earls of Southampton.

Pub
Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Fareham, Fisherman's Rest is a delightful traditional pub that exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for families. With its picturesque riverside garden, it offers an ideal spot to unwind while enjoying a selection of British dishes and real ales. The menu features mouthwatering options like perfectly cooked mussels and bass risotto, alongside classic favorites such as fish and chips that are crispy and flavorful.
Nice local pub a little off the beaten track and away from any large built up housing. Reasonable parking area to the rear and a beer garden. Opposite the remains of Titchfield Abbey and a garden centre.

Roast was nice: lamb shank was excellent, but the roast potatoes were lacking. Very friendly and cheerful staff. One of the soap dispensers in the gents was completely empty, and the floor was wet. Nice large garden, and cosy interior. It was quite busy, but it was a Sunday lunchtime and we were able to find a table. The time to get served was better then I expected due to the amount of people at the bar. I have the Greene King app, but on the table it requested to order at the bar, so I did that instead of risking my money falling into the ether. Above average, and would return if I'm in the very local area, but wouldn't make a journey to specifically come here.

Fish and chips was mint 🔥 proper crispy and tasty. Best I’ve had in time. Main reason I came in was to see Nicola Jane, absolute rocket 🚀 easy on the eyes that one 😍 Shame I’m 20 year too young... maybe in next life 😂
Ryan M — Google review
Lovely pub with great food and fabulous value for money. Our server, Tara was welcoming and attentive, we were told straight away that some options not available due to menu change over tomorrow but there was still plenty of choice. Definitely will return!
Lorna O — Google review
Lovely venue, lovely staff, great food! The new autumn menu has plenty of choice, I recommend the Camembert and mushroom tart, wonderful flavour with light pastry. If you have the hot drink and mini dessert, go for a cappuccino and brownie!
Linda — Google review
Great looking pub in fab location, but not so great that its prices should challenge those of London! 1 1/2 pints were best part of a tenner! We didn't eat, but i have had set meals at michelin restaurants that would be better value in comparison. Maybe the food is THAT good? Maybe they have a massive team in their kitchen ti justify it? On a positive note, the vibe is good, well presented and pretty. Car park is small, but it has one! Would i go again? Yeah, maybe. Would i be happy to pay the prices? Absolutely not!
Bod H — Google review
Lovely little pub, went for a Sunday Roast, unfortunately the food was very lacking. Potatoes didn't look crispy but I needed a steak knife to cut them. Beef, definitely was not pink, parsnips, 1 white very soft the other looked nice and crisp, was quite limp, as were the carrots. Yorkshire pudding was not good either I'm afraid. I ordered extras of pigs in blankets, the sausages were white, the bacon not crisp. It was like everything was cooked and left on a low warming heat for an hour. Lastly I had about 4 pots of gravy as it was all very dry, especially the stuffing.
Jackie S — Google review
We stopped by this pub for a spot of lunch, been here before and wasn’t over impressed then, sadly my opinion remains the same. We walked in to be met by a queue of people waiting to be seated there was 2 bar staff and presumably the manager all of which did not acknowledge the people waiting, they appeared not to be rushed off their feet. The website offered a sandwich lunch menu when we were finally seated there was no lunch menu in sight (we visited for a light lunch advised on your website) and resulted in an expensive main meal well overpriced as we ordered to 2 small meals and 2 drinks £32.00. We will from now on give this place a wide berth as it was obviously paying customers were not their priority on this occasion.

McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has stood the test of time, renowned for its iconic burgers and crispy fries. Visitors often rave about the exceptional service they receive, with staff going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. A heartwarming example includes a team member who took the initiative to help children switch their book for a sought-after toy, turning their day around.
Me and my daughter have been going often on Saturday lunch time as a treat. We've never had a negative experience, food is always hot and fresh and has never come incorrectly even with our customisations. It's always been a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and the staff are very polite, warm and welcoming which I appreciate greatly as I struggle with anxiety.
Rachel S — Google review
Of course it's a standard 'offer' but the variations come with food and service It was fast but my 1/4 pdr was dry and not juicy or hot. It had been standing too long No serviettes or ketchup provided or offered Fries not hot It's just lazy management as it wasn't exceptionally busy
S T — Google review
We ate in ,the table service worked well and not too long to wait. However I had to order my daughter something to take home with us, had to wait over 30 mins downstairs in a crowded foyer, I am disabled and it was a nightmare. I had been taking my 4 year old grandson there every friday after his swimming lesson across the road at the leisure centre, The deliveries andcdrive through obviously take priority over take away collections , my grandsons happy meal that we were taking home to finish eating was cold, lots of people were moaning . (Fast food )is a joke , some people's food had been left on side in kitchen area and it was luke warm plus there mcflurry was melted. Then for 2nd week running we go out to car which is parked in disabled space, and the drive through cars are qued up across the zebra crossing, and blocking my car in, it took ages to be able to reverse out of space.as people don't seem to care there blocking people in . After going there for over a month on a Friday, I won't be going there again.
Helen E — Google review
Well went through the drive through got home to find out I got half a bigmac how can you forget the top of a burger

Day time service no problem, night time food service is poor (customer service is fine) - Fillet O fish was over fried that it was like eating cardboard. cold food overall. cheeseburger was ok
Julian C — Google review
Excellent service. Our order was correct. A member of staff went out of her way to find my children after they had asked to switch a book to a toy and were told there weren't any. She found some and came to find my children so they could switch. Which actually made their day because the only reason we visited is because they were after the squishmallow toys. ❤️
Sonia W — Google review
It's never open after 11pm. Claims to be 24 hours. Been here 5 times in the last two weeks, and always closed. Tonight is the same. Either it is 24 hours or not!
Lee B — Google review
In typical English fashion. Front door closes a minute before my arrival. I kindly ask Drive-Through for food but they said it’s a safety hazard, laughable. So got force to get an Uber round the block. Can’t make it up haha

Fish & chips restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Ocean Plaice Fish & Chips is a delightful spot for anyone craving the classic British dish. Diners rave about the freshly cooked fish, which is always served with a light, crispy batter that enhances its flavor without being greasy. The generous portion sizes are impressive; even a medium serving of chips can easily satisfy multiple people! Customers appreciate the friendly and professional service from staff who make every visit enjoyable. Many have noted how clean and well-maintained the shop is, adding to the overall positive experience.
First time customer and will be returning. Portions are huge, a small chips could easily feed 2 adults, large cod was huge. Curry sauce is beautiful and all round lush chippie tea.
Becki D — Google review
Very good quality food. Service is certainly not the fastest, but sometimes good stuff is worth waiting for.Ocean Plaice has decided to close down from 17th Feb to 27th Feb 2025. It would have been nice to put this on your website. That's what websites are for - information. Good food won't always win customers so perhaps a little consideration as well and you may get those top marks.
Colin G — Google review
Really bad chips this evening. Disappointed is an understatement. After Mum's hospital stay she was really looking forward to something tasty. I don't know if it's a bad time of year for potatoes but this is really not acceptable. Won't be rushing back.
Julie C — Google review
Arrived to buy our takeaway 15 mins before closing & our chips were so soggy, our fish really greasy & chicken nuggets over done. Three out of four of us woke with ‘funny tummies’ this morning!
Whirlwind L — Google review
Fish and chips supper. Well fish had no taste and to be fair looked like a frozen fish from a supermarket no taste to the batter, Chips were mushy very disappointing definitely not fresh fish and won’t be back. Also Had sausage in batter and chips and to be fair that was not great.
Wendy “ — Google review
Generous portion size (can’t finish a small chips). Battered haddock cooked to perfection, golden and crispy every time so far.
Allen J — Google review
In my opinion the best fish and chips in the area. Fish cooked fresh when you order with a thin batter. Well sized. Chips portions are huge, one medium portion serves 3. Nice staff and easy parking.
Phil S — Google review
I am very fussy about fish and chips. But boy this place is good. Freshly cooked. Massive portions. Nice dry non greasy chips and fresh fluffy fish. I've not been here for over a year and it was as good as I remember. Not too dear either. Thoroughly recommended 👌.
