Fontana delle Sette Cannelle, located in Piazza della Repubblica, is a significant monument in Pitigliano. Dating back to 1545, this ornate fountain was named Fontana delle Sette Cannelle in the 18th century and is fed by the adjacent 16th-century Medici aqueduct. The town itself is perched on a tuff rock outcrop and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
If your in central Italy. This is well worth the drive even on the hottest days. There are cold fountains everywhere and the views are well amazing. Restaurants are open and drink bars right next to this Fontana. If you love to drive take that manual gear box for a rip….. this area has roads that will fill your needs. Take it easy.

Pitigliano is a unique historical town grafted onto the top of a tuff rock outcrop. Not so much to do in the small historical center, but worth a stop.

The Fountain of the Seven Spouts is a monumental landmark located in the historic center of Pitigliano. If you're visiting the old town, you're sure to see it set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Tuscan slopes. Make sure you visit around sunset, as the skies are especially gorgeous then.

The Museum of Palazzo Orsini is a stunning collection of sacred art, featuring works and liturgical furnishings from the Cathedral of Pitigliano and surrounding churches. Housed in 18 rooms, it showcases remarkable pieces like Jacopo della Quercia's wooden Madonna and Child statue and Guidoccio Cozzarelli's panel painting 'Madonna and Child with angels and saints Francesco and Pietro.'
The Sforza Castle and Museum is a wonderful example of construction. It stands in the town of Pitigliano, which is an outstanding example of a town on tuff. Tuff is a type of rock made from volcanic ash ejected from a vent during a volcanic eruption. After being ejected and deposited, the ash turns into solid rock. I especially liked the lion statue on the outside of the castle.

Barely frescoed rooms; ultimately it's a museum. There is something interesting in it (the oil mill, the balcony onto the central square, some paintings), but I don't know if it's really worth it.
Metalpsyche82 — Google review
The middle aged man at the reception was very rude. I approached and asked in Italian "good evening, how are you? Do you speak English?" because I need to ask a question I didn't have the vocabulary for. .... he replied in a mocking voice, in Italian, "no I only speak Italian because I am in Italy!" like a child - com'è uno bambino!!! Everyone else in Pitigliano of all ages and languages has been so kind, polite, and helpful - we turned and left immediately due to his attitude!!

Delizie di Ale & Helga is a superb eatery situated on Pitigloanos main street, offering delectable cuisine and homemade savory preserves like vegetables and spreads. This friendly establishment provides a great pasta experience in a warm atmosphere. It comes highly recommended as the ultimate spot for an aperitivo in the entire borgo, where they serve their own products alongside local wines.
Super delicious food, homemade savoury preserves (veggies, spreads etc.), great pasta in a friendly setting on Pitigloano’s main street. Absolutely recommended.

We just had lunch there. 💜 Was amazing. We had one of the best pasta in Italy. With organic products. The wild white boar ragout was incredible, and the dessert ( ricotta gelato with cherry amarena ) so good. Very good price for the quality of the food. Dont miss this place.... I just read some other reviews, and some are not deserved from our experience. The young lady who served us was very caring, helpful, trying to explain us the menu. Smiling and kind. And the wife of the chef (apparantly the owner) came to us to say hi and was very friendly. Really we loved everything ablout this place 💜

Went in for a short lunch break with my parent while walking through the town. The waitress and another woman in the kitchen whom im assuming was the owner were actively horrible to us. We ordered a cheese and meat platter with bread to share. Apparently that wasn't a big enough order, they were appalled at the fact that we did not order wine to go with our lunch and scolded us for having a small water bottle with us. At some point we were actually yelled at. i would like to state that we are not the type that goes to restaurants looking for conflict, rather we just wanted to try the local food and have a light lunch before we left the town.

Can’t say a lot about food, but I should talk about staff. We ‘googled’ the phone and called in a middle of the day to make a reservation, but I was told they don’t make them. Non c’e problema! It was rated so good, so we decided to give it a try and noticed some free tables. Cameriere came to clean the tables and we asked one for two people. “Un momento” - she said. While standing there in the street, some italians came, asked another cameriere and was leaded right away. Not to lose our queue again, we sitted ourselves :) Plot twist - cameriere came and said that this place was reserved. But how come if they don’t do reservations?? Very cute couple nearby suggested to take their places, but after some rude answers again, we decided just to say Ciao.

Located in the Jewish quarter of Pitigliano, Hostaria del Ceccottino is a must-visit bakery known for its traditional dishes and delicious desserts. The restaurant offers a varied menu with gluten-free options available upon request. While some find the prices to be on the higher side, many visitors praise the attentive service and overall dining experience.
Walked in without a reservation. Owner was kind to accommodate us. House wine (Rosso) was very good, food was delicious and service was excellent. Next day ran into the owner before the restaurant opened. Asked her which wine we had the previous night and she went out of her way to share details about it and pointed me to the local shop where I could buy it. Definitely recommend visiting this hidden gem in Pittigiano.

PITIGLIANO is probably the cutest little town in Toscana and staying at the Ceccottino is the best recommendation I could ever make to anyone that wants to experience real tuscan hospitality! The rooms are immaculate clean, done with such taste and dedication to detail. Overall a wonderful experience! Their hosts Chiara and Alessandro are a delight! Their restaurant is fabulous! Still making dishes following their mamma’s recipes but with a twist! The Slow food movement is expressed at its best! A must in Toscana, a true gem you’ll never forget!

Amazing meal in a beautiful place. The ingredients are simple but well treated and beautifully served. We mostly ate plant based items because we wanted to keep it light for a midday meal, but the selection includes meat based traditional dishes. The wine list is an education. The best part is they do not allow smoking, not even outdoors.

This restaurant is top notch. Everything was just perfect, the food, the service, the atmosphere. One of the best meals I've had in my seven weeks in Italy. The lasagna was incredible.

Located in the heart of Pitigliano’s old town, Hostaria del Ceccottino offers elevated Tuscan cuisine in a stylish, softly lit space. We came here for a romantic dinner and were not disappointed. The highlights were the beef tagliata with rosemary potatoes and the handmade tortelli stuffed with ricotta and spinach. The wine recommendation – a local Syrah – was spot on. Service was polished and professional, and the setting made it feel like a special evening. It’s a bit pricier (€50–€60 per person), but absolutely worth it for the quality and atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or celebration.

Museum
La Piccola Gerusalemme, Ghetto Ebraico in Pitigliano is a must-visit when exploring the village. The Jewish Museum, located partly in the former synagogue dating back to 1598, offers an insightful journey into the formation of the Jewish quarter and its cultural significance within this small town. The museum features comprehensive exhibits that take visitors underground and provide a detailed understanding of the challenges faced by the Jewish community.
Fantastic history and well-appointed. Don’t miss the fantastic paintings on display as well. A truly wonderful experience that takes about forty-five minutes to fully absorb.

Fabulous museum from the ghetto starting back to 1555 where the village of Pitigliano nicknamed "the small Jerusalem" was a place of refuge for the Jewish community, seeking to flee the city of Rome so as not to be subject to Catholic authority. The ghetto as such was formed at the beginning of the 17th Century which the Medici dynasty took command of the city and restricted Jewish mobility. Yet still the community was well integrated and respected, collaborating in the economic, social and cultural fabric of the town. Prior to the 2nd World War, the community was numerous and active. Throughout the 19th Century when there was greater freedom of movement, many members of the community left Pitigliano for the more economically attractive cities of Rome, Florence, Lucca or Livorno. By 1938, however, after Nazi racial laws took effect only 60 members of the community remained, many escaping capture thanks to their neighbors, but forced to hide with farming families in the valley. A plaque in the Ghetto commemorates the 22 Jews born in Pitigliano who were killed in concentration camps. The town of Pitigliano sided strongly against deportation and in 2002 the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, the honor of the "Righteous Among the Nations" was conferred to some Pitigliano families for their attempt to save their fellow citizens. The Synagogue was built in 1598 and following a landslide rebuilt in 1995 by the town. This visit include the synagogue (restored in 1995), Cultural center, ritual bathhouse, wine cellar, bakery, dye-works, all of which are dug into the native tufa stone, as well as the the fairly non-traditional Jewish cemetery tucked in a cypress grove below the town.

Small but very complete and informative museum with content in both Italian and English. As an American Jew, I found it interesting to read the descriptions of things I already know, to see how they are explained to others. I would recommend this visit as a wonderful learning experience for those who want to know more about the Jewish religion.

(Translated by Google) If you happen to be in Pitigliano, a visit to the Synagogue/Jewish Museum is a MUST...here you can see and feel the suffering these people endured over the centuries. The guide (very knowledgeable and available to answer any questions) is the main architect of this experience, but the rooms, where everyday life took place "underground," are the real backdrop. You can (and I recommend) book your visit in advance. The pasta was delicious - tortellini with spinach and ricotta and wild boar ragu was some of the best pasta I’ve ever had; packed full of flavour and cooked perfectly

The staff were really courteous, spoke english well and the food was absolutely great. We have ordered Pecorino Cheeseplate and Gnocchi with Wild boar stew/ragu both were delicious and tasty.

A typical tuscan restaurant with traditional plates. It 's small so I suggest to reserve

BEST BEST BEST!! The tomato pasta was simple yet amazing. The other dishes we tried were also great. This place is 100% recommended!

In the very heart of Pitigliano. Very pleasant atmosphere and solid food. Local beer very good.
Bogdan M — Google review
Positive experience, with good food, good service and nice atmosphere. Kind and professional personnel.

Pleasant. Nothing really wrong, but this place feels like “ I order, you bring, I pay”. Done. Positive is the extensive wine list. Food regular quality, no problems. Our waitress was a pleasant , efficient person.

We had a great experience at this place. Food was delicious from the cheese and salumi selection to the first course. Perfect also for vegan as they serve a very tasty soup (I tried it even in Summer time). Location is also great and romantic, just next to the aqueduct arches. Definitely recommended!

Restaurant
Locanda al Pozzo Antico, located in a historic 15th-century building in the heart of a medieval town, is a charming restaurant that offers authentic Tuscan cuisine. With its cozy and elegant ambiance, this place serves high-quality dishes showcasing the flavors of Tuscany. The menu features fresh and seasonal options, including handmade pasta, locally sourced meats, and succulent seafood.
Nice find, very friendly staff... Pizza with smoked cheese, sausage and caramelized carrots ... Delicious and crust was spot on. Simple Pici dish with tomato and olive oil just great. Good value house red, and friendly service.

We had great pizza here when visiting the beautiful Pitigliano. I had a Franco and my husband a Margherita with Bufala cheese. Thin crust baked to perfection and very tasty. Cool inside under all the arches!

Outstanding lunch on a Sunday! The risotto was sublime!
Rick T — Google review
Everything the best! Pizza, made at the place on the view, was quite large with a lot of topics - Capriciosa positive-surprising because of unusual ingredients. The wholegrain pizza is also possible - a huge plus. Saute of broccoli delicious. Good prices regarding to quality and size. If you want to eat a not very sweet dessert (yeah, not everyone can eat sweetness 😁) I recommend to ask a waiter about that - I got the panna cotta which wasn't included in the current menu and it was really only little-sweet (in the normal price). Waitress are great, they speak english, very sympathetic and talkative. They play a good rock music. Sorry for a long description, but it was so nice supper that I had to... 😊

A party of four we tried 6 different dishes. One soup, one pizza, two primis and two secondis. All but the soup (correct) was exceptionally good. Take it from someone who takes special interest in the Italian cousine 😉 Tartufo dishes (pici and pizza) are must try dishes

Nice restaurant with excellent food. Local specialities and also pizza speciale. Not so pricey as other places in the old town, also very good service. We will be back, should we visit Pitigliano again.

Delicious. The soup was really nice and tasty. Spaghetti with bacala was very very yummy. Plus the pizza gourmet with postacchio was sublime. For the pizza you can also ask the lateral with filling (I asked for anchos and cheese as lateral filling). The price is very correct. We could see the restaurant is good as many locals were also having dinner. Well done.

Restaurant
IL TUFO ALLEGRO di Pichini Domenico is a highly recommended restaurant in Pitigliano. Visitors were impressed by the warm welcome and attentive service, especially accommodating a pregnant guest. The menu offers typical dishes with handmade, fresh pasta and a fusion of local flavors with innovative culinary twists. Guests raved about the delicious acquacotta e lamb stew and the high-quality, light food.
Cute little terrace on the side of the restaurant. Friendly service and well priced and delicious food.

Il Tufo Allegro has a more modern vibe while still staying rooted in local flavors. The interior is cool and minimalist, with shelves of natural wines and creative plating. We started with a zucchini flower tempura and moved on to tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and thyme – fragrant, rich, and absolutely delicious. They also had vegetarian options, which was a welcome surprise in a meat-heavy region. Our server was helpful and clearly passionate about the menu. We spent about €35 per person. It’s a great stop for food lovers looking for something a little different in Pitigliano.

The waiter was drunk, forgot our order and brought the main dishes 30 min apart for a group of 4. The food was too salty (esp. meat), except pasta that was simple. Their terminal didn't work, so we had to go to the ATM to get cash. Overall a bad experience, no view, bad service, bad food. I do NOT recommend. There are soo many other places in the area, go to those

Great meal at a reasonable price. Attention to details and fusion of local flavors with more daring culinary expedients. The acquacotta e lamb stew were amazing. Servers were nice and the whole experience was extremely enjoyable. House red wine was amazing too, which is a plus!

We came to this place upon the recommendation from the Jewish and we were not disappointed in the least. they were extremely nice to us and let us in early since my wife was pregnant and we just needed to sit down and brought us water immediately and then explain to us their menu of typical dishes. The food was extremely tasty and clearly the pasta was handmade and fresh. They use typical, fresh, seasonal ingredients and allow the quality of the products to speak for themselves and really be the protagonists of every dish. The smoked ricotta gnocchi with aubergines were delicious. The classic dish of tomato Pappa was amazing and you shouldn't miss it! since they don't take the tip on credit card I asked them tfor a coffee to split change after I paid the bill and they said you don't need to order a coffee to get change I'll give you change and offer you the coffee which was very nice and speaks to the pride that they take in their dishes and in making you feel welcome. Definitely coming again.
