Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is a stunning destination with a decommissioned powerhouse and a picturesque lake view. The park offers endless trails for walking, running, and biking, surrounded by native plants and beautiful flowers. Visitors can enjoy picnics by the lake, with facilities such as bathrooms, BBQs, and picnic tables available. The reservoir provides varied terrain for activities like hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
I visited Folsom Lake a while ago and had a great experience! I swam in the cold, refreshing water, which was perfect for a hot day. The huge snow cones nearby were a fun treat and made the visit even more enjoyable. The parking area was spacious and well-maintained, making it easy to get in and out without any stress. Overall, Folsom Lake is a fantastic spot for outdoor fun, whether you want to swim, relax, or enjoy a treat. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a refreshing day out in nature!

This place looks very nice because there really isn't any other large body of water around . but the 15 bucks to park is expensive. The cheapest yearly pass is about 125. Kinda expensive too . I knocked off two stars for the price and also. Because of a few things. signs clearly state No dogs on the beach. But there's plenty of people that disregard the sign. Also broken glass on the beach. You should not take your shoes off. The path to walk is nice. But also to many people . These a lot of bike riders that go off in the dirt path. So it's annoying to have to nice cause of the narrow path. I want to check a different part of the lake, but this one isn't worth it

A beautifully maintained and easily accessible lake. We went to the El Dorado entry and spent $12 to get in and parking was plentiful. We saw people on jet skis, paddle boats and boats as well as dogs swimming in the lake and didn't have any issues except for tiny little baby red spiders everywhere on the picnic table but we managed. The Sheriff's Dept did a drive-by once in the four hours we were there and they did start gathering once the sun went down because the park closed at sundown. There was an outhouse that was stocked with appropriate toiletries but no place to wash your hands so bring soap or wipes.

I just went in to check out the campgrounds. Ive always gone boating for the day and love the lake. Campgrounds look nice and may stay soon.
Dora H — Google review
Nice recreational area to stop and have a picnic. I recommend bringing an umbrella or a tent to block the sun, because there's not a lot of convenient shaded places.

Great place to swim and spend the afternoon. The beach is a bit of a hike, but there's a lot of amenities.

Posting this to commend the excellent condition of the floating restrooms on both the north fork (Granite Bay) and south fork (Eldorado Hills) sides on August 27 and 28. I don’t know who does the cleaning, but both were sparkling clean, functional and fully stocked with TP. I suppose the upkeep gets easier as the lake level falls and traffic declines, but the parks employees are tied up with things like boat inspections and budgets are probably tight. The staff at the check-in booth were friendly and helpful. We registered for 2 nights camping on the lake, so they had to verify that there was a marine toilet on our boat, but some occasions are better handled in a larger facility…! The lake is down around 50’ from max, which limits the number of coves to anchor in, but we had no problem launching our big cruiser from the Granite Bay low-water ramp, and I think we were the only ones overnighting on either arm. It’s great watching the stars come out over the water on a clear night, and going to sleep with no sound but the ripples slapping on the hull.
Ed S — Google review
The drive to get into the peninsula was a lot. 9 miles of 1 car roads down a mountain side not ideal. Plenty of spots along shore to hangout for the day.

Nectar Café is a cozy and inviting eatery that offers a diverse menu of plant-based dishes, catering to both vegans and vegetarians. With an emphasis on using seasonal ingredients, this hip establishment provides customers with the option to dine outdoors or have their meals delivered. Customers rave about the Thai Bowl with Seitan, which serves as a satisfying alternative for even meat lovers. The restaurant has gained a reputation for its flavorful offerings and fresh greens.
The Nectar Cafe serves chef inspired salads, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies and veggie burgers. They make eating healthy in a fast casual atmosphere possible. The salads are generously proportioned and prepared to perfection. The taco salad ($15) is one of my favorites. It's a delicious mixture of greens, avocado, tomato, black beans, vegan chorizo, salsa, Jack/cheddar cheese mixture, tossed in a tangy cilantro lime vinaigrette, chipotle sauce drizzle and corn chips. The employees are friendly and helpful in recommending something you might enjoy. The downtown Auburn area is a great date spot. There are plenty of stores to explore while getting to know each other better. I would recommend the business have their sign repainted, since it's quite faded. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

So, Nectar is quite the place! I am not currently a vegetarian but you don't have to be a vegetarian to appreciate good food. That is what I get at Nectar everytime. The food is high quality and tastes great! I especially recommend the tacos! Oh, did I mention that the service and atmosphere are great too? Sitting outside is really nice. Will be returning soon!

The most amazing vegan chocolate shake I’ve ever had. I’ll be dreaming about this! And the chocolate pudding we had to come back and eat again for my kids. I’ve also had the nachos which were incredible. Not many places can do vegan cheese right and they’ve figured it out. We will be coming back next time we drive through. Second time here and can’t wait to try more on the menu our next time.

This was an amazing meal! I ordered the Chipotle burger it was really packed with flavor. If you're local you know, but it is so worth the stop if you are traveling through and want a good vegan/vegetarian burger. The pretzel roll was so soft and yummy and I'm not normally a fan, I am now.

Came in after a hike and devoured the tempeh Rueben. So delicious! Loved the chocolate shake with it and the service and atmosphere are wonderful. Will visit again when I’m in the area!

This place just keeps getting better over the years. These days I’m getting the blackberry tinga tacos and LOVING them. Also, the brownies are awesome. Chocolate mousse, too!

Delicious and nutritious!!! I came here with my dad for lunch and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I'm vegan and absolutely loved the BLTA with coconut bacon, it totally hit the spot since I have been craving bacon since going vegan three months ago! The mayonnaise was absolutely delicious as well and the avocado was perfectly ripe. It came with a tasty side salad of greens and carrots with a vinaigrette, usually I'm not one for salads on the side but this was awesome and the perfect ending to my meal. My dad, a carnivore, got the Thai wrap and absolutely loved it. He even tried some of my coconut bacon and was so impressed we might try making some at home! All in all our experience was absolutely wonderful. The outside dining and to-go service was great, I would recommend Nectar Café to anyone looking for a tasty meal that won't weigh you down!

This was my first time at The Nectar Cafe. I was bringing my friend to the area, and he's a vegan, and he'd been at the place before...so, off we went! I'm not a vegan, I'm a pescatarian (only eat fish as my protein source), but I'm totally open to vegan food. We got an avocado bowl & some other mixed veggies in it (can't remember the name of the dish, sorry!), and we also got the zucchini lasagna, and shared. Both were very good, and fresh! After, we split a piece of chocolate cheesecake. It was my very first vegan dessert! Really yummy. I'd definitely recommend this spot, whether you're an official vegan or not. I think they have vegetarian options as well. 🙂

The fair was fun. Too hot lots of food places only one ride I saw about the displays. Would prefer there was not as many seconds but more best of shows. Laid out really well was easy to get to places.

We were there for the Alofa Festival, and it was an amazing experience. The fair grounds are divided into several areas that were used for food vendors, performances, community resources, etc. There are open areas, as well as large buildings and performing stages. There is ample parking. They also have restrooms scattered throughout that are well taken care of. It's a great place to enjoy, relax, and have a great time.

Attended the annual Mandarin Orange Festival. Many uses of mandarins. Many vendors and good food trucks. If you missed this years Festival, plan on coming next Year. Three day festival. Over 6 growers to taste.

We came here for the @pumpkinnightsfest event. I liked it. Not a huge festival but I'm sure it'll get bigger as time goes on. It was still really fun. We had great weather that night and I was in good company. I will definitely go back. Especially since they had special deals on tickets.

We were seeing fireworks for the 4th of July and paid to park. Afterwards it was TERRIBLE! we waited for over an hour just to get out. I understand that it's a lot of people leaving at once but the fact that they did not have anyone directing all 3 lots trying to merge to leave was ridiculous. The other lots emptied out fully before we could exit. We parked on a baseball field, and clearly they should've capped the parking instead of collecting more money just to put people in a not parking lot and creating issues. I've been coming here for a very long time and parking has always been an issue. It's always very expensive or just not well maintained or bad directing. Fun events held here but parking is something that needs to be addressed.
Makkenah — Google review
We really enjoy attending functions at these fairgrounds. The landscaping is tidy and the building look well cared for. I'm told that the Old Town Pizza has great pizza, unfortunately I had too much pizza this week so I skipped it today. I can tell you, because I'm old that it had the "Old Time Pizza" oven smell which is pretty awesome. The food venders are all using signs claiming to have "Fresh Lemonade" but the all three cups we bought from two different venders tasted like it was fresh lemonade flavored Kool-Aid. Two places were selling hand dipped corndogs but you should only get them from the place that looks like a hotdog on a stick from the mall, but be sure to make sure they give you a "jumbo" if you order a jumbo corndog. The other hand dipped corn dog place tasted like their fryer was only set for 250°. The fries and the corndog were on the soggy side. There was a place called Koko's Korean Teriyaki and the grilled chicken was great but the friend rice was bland and barely warm because they keep it in a warmer until you order it.

The Pour Choice is a trendy and comfortable café-bar that I frequent twice daily. This two-story establishment serves excellent coffee and delicious avocado toast, as well as charcuterie boards paired with local draft beer. It is a unique small venue offering high-quality beverages, including beer on tap and in cans for the outdoor patio. The outdoor area provides both sunshine and shade, making it an ideal spot for dog owners.
What a cool spot! Right in old town Auburn. The vibe is chill. The food is great! First time having avocado toast on a biscuit!!! You have a choice of toast or a biscuit. I got mine with an egg, goat cheese and had to try the homemade hot sauce on the side of course. Had the jalapeño bacon deviled egg on the side very cool flavors!! Met a friend there and we were able to sit and chat for quite sometime. The electricity went out for a bit and thankfully we had gotten our food. The staff kept busy about the place until it came back on and they could make espresso again. My friend had a mocha and I had a vanilla latte. Both were yummy! Our food was amazing. Check out the pictures!! Staff were very nice and service was great! They also serve beer. Definitely planning on more visits. Next time want to check out old town too!

Great spot, the bourbon latte and the Parmesan leek pastry were delicious. Definitely worth stopping by, outdoor seating is great too. Their pastries and coffee syrups are made in-house which is why everything tastes so fresh

Came here with some friends while checking out Old Auburn after reading the good reviews of this place. When we came it was so busy! It definitely seems like a go to place for a lot of peeps. Parking was a little tricky because it was busy. The cafe is so pretty inside and the staff are friendly. We sat inside on the lower level but from what it looked like there was seating somewhere outside and upstairs. It was busy all throughout the space! They have decent/standard pricing for food and drinks I would say, not sure if things have changed since I was last here. The food is good and I would definitely come back to try more times! I had gotten an iced chai and a sandwich and both were nice. They were a great brunch/lunch combo before we went around the nearby shops. Definitely check it out!

I really like this place! I come here nearly every day I am working from my office in Auburn and I can confirm this is the best cafe in the area! The baristas are all very nice and the coffee is pretty good. Espresso shot quality does occasionally vary from time to time but I really do love this place.

What an amazing beautiful coffee, beer/ wine & grub shop!! Individuals taking orders and serving are wonderful human beings and the coffee is delicious!! The owners have knocked it out of the park with the gear, employees and delicious grub for the tummy! The architecture of the building is absolutely beautiful. What an amazing spot to start your day If you’re headed up from the bay to swim in the American / Yuba , snowboarding/ ski In the Sierra. The Pour choice is located in Old Town Auburn Extremely easily accessible!

As many of you know, I'm a coffee addict. I love spending loads of time in cafés all over the world—sipping espresso drinks, eating a pastry or meal, hanging out talking to locals, doing work on my laptop, or chilling out and listening to media. So it was with huge pleasure that I discovered a new hangout joint for me right in Auburn, California! This place hits all the marks for me. See, for me, coffee is only a portion of the café experience. It's like I love the bass guitar, but it can't be the whole band. So cafés, for me, need a killer location, a welcoming and interesting atmosphere, super friendly staff, talented baristas, and healthy, fresh food that is super tasty. The Pour Choice has all this. In fact, they even have beer—though I didn't have the opportunity to partake yet. It's got loads of space with an upstairs and lots of outdoor seating, including an upstairs patio. The location is right in the middle of historic Auburn, where the state capital once was during the Gold Rush days, with gold discovered just down the hill at Sutter’s Mill. So the setting feels special and charming, even though the historic area is a bit overlooked these days. I went there with my wife, another coffee aficionado, who shared the same sentiment about the experience. The place has a modern, clean, and casual feel—so it’s not like an old-timey saloon, which you might expect in a touristy historic town. Rather, The Pour Choice felt like it could be parked on a hip corner in San Francisco. My wife felt right at home in her high boots tucked into jeans. My wife had a flat white, and I had an Americano. (I always drink unflavored or untreated coffee on first visits so I can taste the pure flavor.) Both of us were super happy with our beverages and found them to be delicious. Now I want to go back for a beer sometime. All in all, it was a fantastic stop for coffee and for hopping off the merry-go-round for a moment.
Kirk D — Google review
Good coffee - top level Perfect location n historic old town. The service is ok, but I had to repeat multiple times that I wanted it for here and small (I actually wanted a flat white, but they don’t have none menu and did not understand my accent) - they made it for here but medium size. Also it’s is among the leaders if easing prices $6 for capp, $6.50 for latte - it’s ok, a few months from now this will pretty standard :)
Arkady B — Google review
Great place in Auburn. My first visit and it makes me wish that I lived closer. I wasn't a fan of the Peach Tea with Espresso... but the Iced Latte made up for it. It's a great place to sit, chat, or even work.

If you're on the hunt for exceptional Chinese cuisine, look no further than Liu Mandarin Kitchen. This gem has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its standout dishes like the pork and chive dumplings that are simply irresistible. The menu is filled with beloved classics, ensuring there's something for everyone. Diners rave about the freshness of the food; from steamed buns to flavorful sesame chicken and Singapore noodles, each bite is a delight.
This place is awesome! Their lunch special is a great deal and their home made sauces are delicious. The owner chatted with us for a while and she’s very sweet. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

My first time visiting. My mom and I enjoyed lunch on a Sunday afternoon. First, we noticed how clean the restaurant was. Not surface clean ... clean. We tried two dishes and the dumplings. Simple and delicious. In fact, I am eating my left overs as I write this, feeling good that I have another local restaurant to recommend to my incoming guests and friends, too.
Melissa B — Google review
I ordered the pork dumplings in general tso’s chicken and it came out to 33.45 without tip. The dumplings were way too doughy and the only flavor and texture is of minced green onion. Some of the worst dumplings I’ve had. For the chicken dish, I am not sure there was any chicken. Most of each piece was all breading. The flavor of the sauce was worse than what you can get from Trader Joe’s. The food only took 4mins 38sec for to be brought out once I ordered it which shows me that it is far from freshly made either flash fried or reheated.

Literally the best wonton soup ever. Good prices for good food! Their passion fruit and mango fruit juices were also really good that I almost bought the glass cup outside!😂😅. The ladies in there were also really friendly and gave good service. Would come back again for sure!

Pre-pandemic! Visited this place a few times during my recent trips to Auburn, CA and I've become quite a fan. The owners are super nice and hospitable. And their food is fresh and delicious. My boyfriend loves coming here as he doesn't get to have authentic Chinese food as often so visits here are a treat. The place is bright and spacious, and the food is great. Service has always been good during my previous experiences. I live in NY at the moment, so I'm none too sure when I'll be able to return to CA, nor can I really shed any new information to their covid-19 safety measures at this time, but what I can tell you is that if they're offering take out or delivery, please don't hesitate in supporting this local business!! I highly recommend them to anyone in the area. I'm jealous if you're able to order from them!

Wish there was a 4.5 star rating that I could give. Have been there a couple of times now and everything we have tried has been delicious. The steamed bun and the Sesame Chicken we had tonight were delicious. So were the Singapore noodles. The problem we have here isn't the speed of getting your food, it's that once you get it, they tend to forget you're there. We will keep going though because the food is delicious and fresh. Edit Sept 2 2018. We keep going back and it is DELICIOUS!

This is authentic Chinese, not Americanized Chinese food. The food is prepared from family recipes. I really wanted to love this restaurant. The building is beautiful and the atmosphere homey. The lemon chicken has an eggy after taste. The beef noodle soup, was hot and fresh with a fishy after taste. The pork bun was our favorite. They definitely put all their love into the buns. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Auburn, then this is the place for you! It was a Sunday night and I was looking for some comfort food, which for me is dumplings. I saw the reviews about this restaurant highlighting their dumplings and I knew I had to try it out. I walked into the restaurant around 6pm and placed an order for pork dumplings (fried) and beef noodle soup (红烧牛肉面). They told me that my order would be ready in 20 minutes. The staff was very friendly and just something to keep in mind, they're requesting customers to pay in cash! The dumplings were honestly some of the best that I've had in a while. Their dumplings have a very nostalgic, homemade quality to them. You can tell that the dumplings were made with care and fresh ingredients. Their beef noodle soup is equally as good, with a very flavorful broth and tender pieces of beef. Needless to say, I was extremely satisfied with my meal, and it definitely gave me the feeling of comfort that I was looking for that night. While I can't wait to try out some of their other dishes, their dumplings will definitely remain my go-to order!

Hanami Sushi is a charming 2-floor bistro with a cozy Asian ambiance, offering delectable Japanese seafood. Whether you choose to dine indoors or on the sidewalk patio, you'll be welcomed into a warm atmosphere. The restaurant serves fresh and flavorful sushi, including lunch specials like the spicy tuna roll and crab and avocado roll. The tender rice in the sushi rolls enhances their taste, making for an exceptional dining experience.
Ordered a Sashimi special B. Fresh and sumptuous! What counts most is the care by the chef. It was worth it , more than I asked for. The atmosphere is comfortable with the server who sounds articulate.
Won Y — Google review
For those who want it short I wouldn't go back here to try more menu items. There are other places that are consistent and good every time you go. We got a Hamachi spicy roll which was not spicy at all and hamachi was not fresh. The spicy Sashimi salad seemed very old with a fishy taste and smell. We really regret not sending it back. We decide on the no pain no gain roll, which was recommended by the waitress saying it was her favorite. We were trying to decide between that and another one. We regret getting that roll since it was extremely skimpy on the sashimi. I'm talking almost paper thin and as big as my thumbnail slice on top. I regret not taking a photo of this. The only thing that was really good was the tsunami roll, but that was just not enough for us to go back and try other stuff. This visit to the sushi restaurant was very sad because people had said a lot of good things about it. We will say that the service and the people that work there were very nice. You might be able to make out in the photo that the fish looks dull and not as fresh and bright and color as most places.

This is ALWAYS a favorite!! Hanami Sushi has authentic Japanese food, my husband lived in Japan for two years and this is his closest taste to Japan. We’ve been going here for 11 years… that says a lot!! Some out our kids moved to Southern California and STILL everyone they come to visit Northern California they have to stop at Hanami Sushi!!

I was in Auburn today and was craving suishi. Today is May 7th. Always see my receipt for validity. Although they had some great lunch specials, i opted to have the spicy tuna roll. My friend had the crab and avocado roll. Tuna was good and i always ask for extra wasabi! Their rice in the suishi roll was so tender..i dont know how to describe it but it made the rolls even better! They have beer and wine and sake. indoor and outdoor seating plus more seating upstairs. IN retrospect we should have ordered the lunch specials..good deals! Its a small unpretentious place located in a really cute area of town. The suishi staff was quick and friendly. I would say the waitress was a bit distracted by a friend that came in but she still did a good job. Overall..great location..great menu! Definitely will be back!

1st time going here. Everything we ate we liked. The service could use a little work. My husband ordered a roll that came with a miso soup and the waitress asked if I wanted one as well. I said yes. We both never got it. At the end of eating dinner, I wanted to try the tempura ice cream(I've had it at other places and its SO good). Instead of ordering it, our waitress handed us our bill. We left. The inside of the restaurant was clean but we were sat in a corner where it was pretty hot and the flies were hanging out at.

Edit: Many years later and it is still always amazing. We had an amazing dinner with exceptional service by Erica tonight. Erica was so welcoming and enjoyable. We shared the beet salad and it was out of this world and the creamy blue cheese and tangy vinaigrette paired perfectly with the roasted beets. Mike had the rack of lamb which came with roasted fennel and Brussels sprouts and it was delicious. I had the seafood rissotto which was equally delicious. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance and thank you Erica for providing exceptional service. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is in old town Auburn, on a street beautifully lit with string lighting at night. Our service was great! Unique ice figures in our drinks. The appetizers and dinner choices were delicious. The desserts were 50/50 - the caramel cheesecake was fantastic, but the cream brûlée was watery and not good at all, which is why I could not give this dining visit a 5 star review.

Visited for dinner after not dining at this restaurant for some time. Very pleased with the service I received and I would say that the food was decent. For the price point, I had higher hopes that it would be a bit better and the food came out luke warm rather than hot. I did love the tomato blue cheese soup though and would return just for that! The gummy bear drink was so cute too!

Awesome food in a very beautiful space! The chef and crew prepares the most fabulous food! And the mixed drinks were fantastic. Service was great, friendly and fast, and we were never wanting. Mains were all perfect, shrimp corn dogs were delicious, and the carmel cheese cake and butter cake were sublime!

Our expectations were directly related to the reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was quite different. Although we were seated quickly, it took nearly 15 min to be greeted by our waitress. Due to the delay we ordered promptly… it then took 45 minutes before our selections were tabled. The two entrees of seafood risotto was very disappointing to say the least, cold and lacking any promised seafood beyond two scallops on the top, missing was the shrimp and lobster within the risotto. It’s apparent that our waitress was more intent conversing with others than ever checking in with us during our entire time. I hope that our experience is the exception.

Stopped by for lunch. Good selection of sandwiches. We chose the TBLT and the 3 mini tacos plus fries. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and tasty. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Saturday. They were playing 80s music which we loved.

We've enjoyed many special-occasion meals at Monkey Cat over the years, and last week we celebrated a landmark anniversary there. The food was delicious, our hostess delightful, and Jimmy O's music completed the wonderful experience. Thanks to all the staff. You made us feel cared for and special. Our best anniversary yet!

Brewpub
American restaurant
Auburn Alehouse is a charming pub located in the historic American Block building, which has a rich history as the former home of the Shanghai Bar and Restaurant. The alehouse offers over 15 small-batch beers brewed on-site, along with a delightful breakfast and bistro menu. It's a popular spot for craft beer enthusiasts, offering a variety of brews to suit different tastes.
This place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with fantastic food, top-notch service, and a charming old-time atmosphere. And let me tell you, the ales here are bursting with flavor! Plus, they have a great selection of gluten-friendly options for all you foodies out there. I've been lucky enough to visit this place a few times, and each visit has been nothing short of fantastic. The service is always on point, and the food is absolutely delicious. On my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a friend who's about to embark on an incredible journey abroad. We sat at the bar, enjoying each other's company for hours. And let me tell you, the views from this place are out of this world! I even managed to capture a stunning double rainbow 🌈. Talk about a picture-perfect moment! This place is not only fun and enjoyable, but it's also steeped in history. You can feel the vibrant energy and the stories that have unfolded within these walls. So, if you're looking for a place with great food, amazing service, and a whole lot of fun, this is the spot for you! Don't miss out on the chance to create your own unforgettable memories here. Parking is a bit tricky, there are a few handicap spots around.

I was able to join a group of fellow hikers at this Ale House and it was so delightful! The patio is spacious and the selection of food went beyond just your typical brew pub food. I ordered the ahi nachos and it was fresh & delicious! They were extremely busy so it took a while to get our food delivered, but otherwise an excellent experience. Highly recommend if you are in the Auburn area!

Simply the best beer & amazing food brought by awesome food service professionals! This place is amazing, I am willing to bet there’s not one bad item on this menu. Pilsner is clean, herb backed and refreshing. Gold Digger IPA is a master class in how it should be done. Cauliflower wings as appetizers, Braised short rib and mushroom Alfredo, Mac & Cheese and an amazing burger made to order. Lovely place to wile away the rainy gold country afternoon. Destination eats!

Came in on Valentine's Day with a friend and ordered a Strawberry Salad off of their Valentine's Menu as well as a cup of the soup of the day which was Clam Chowder. Both were absolutely delicious. After finishing the salad, I had realized I didn't have a physical debit card on hand but luckily they do tap to pay which was super helpful so I didn't have to transfer money to my friends card. Service was quick and friendly.

The Real Deal is the Auburn Alehouse which delivers on starters and drinks….cheers! Let’s kick it off with the atmosphere which is a very nice pub style restaurant with a full bar with seating, outdoor seating, big booths. The restaurant has branding items from magnets to shirts to hats which are Nicely done! Now let’s talk service which was pretty smooth. Food and drink delivery was timely with some input when asked for a newer waitress I was impressed. Let’s go to the Main Event: the Food!! I’ve heard a lot of first hand reviews so I picked based on this. Started off with the Fried Pickles which were amazing, good crunch, Seasoned to perfection (9/10). The Kids Cheeseburger was delicious and big (9/10). The Fried Chicken which is known signature dishes this is where this review took a turn, I’ve had chicken across the world so I have high expectations, the chicken cook was good, the breading needed more flavor and thicker coating since they drowned it in gravy and place on top of the mashed potatoes. Fried chicken (6/10), gravy (8/10) pretty good, mashed potatoes (5/10). The Red Sauce Tacos which were just ok and salty (3/10). Tri Tip Sandwiches which the meat needed work and rest of the sandwich was good (6.5/10). The Side Salad was excellent with crispy cold bowl and Italian Vinaigrette dressing (10/10). Overall drinks yes, food hit and miss. Probably won’t be back to this one unless for a drink. Cheers!!

I go to Auburn Alehouse twice a year when I’m in town for events. I sit at the bar, everythings’ always great. This last visit, the male bartender was too busy to look up at his customers the entire time I was there. I had a burger, and a beer. I couldn’t get his attention for anything. Don’t let this dissuade you from going though, the service is usually very good, especially from the women bartenders.

Our party of 8 loved everything we ordered! The highlights included the pretzel, "my Friday hazy IPA", And the brewer's dip. The food was fast and the service was excellent! I also thought my Shanghai Thai salad was filling and tasty. 🤌

Pretty cool place to check out. We were in Auburn for my son's birthday, to check places out. The museum was a cool surprise in this beautiful town. It was cool to see the jail cell, old electronics that changed the advancement of human kind for the better. Old phones. Old medical supplies, and farming tech. A real cool place to check

I found the museum to be a very wonderful and lucky way to spend time while waiting for an appointment. The exhibits were very professional and well together. Towards the end was a wonderful film that was very entertaining to watch. Their museum covered such locally, relevant topics, such as growth of technology, the railroad, and the transportation of goods.

Located in the courthouse, you'll have to go through security and metal detector to enter - no worries, the officer was very nice. This museum, located on the ground floor, is small but thorough and free. I loved the nod to Native Americans and the variety of exhibits. The Wanted bulletin board was very interesting to read. You could easily spend an hour here. Would recommend for anyone visiting the area

Today was our first time going since we moved here in January. The selection is awesome and they have everything well organized with social distancing in mind. All the vendors we're wearing masks and I felt like they cared. Good people, great conversation, and delicious produce. Even found some soft treats for the puppers.

Small enough that I could walk it with just my cane. The Vegetables and Flowers were gorgeous and plentiful. Honey, bread and Almond Butter will be breakfast! Carrots and Broccoli for a few suppers to come. And a beautiful piece of Pottery for an upcoming birthday gift. ❤

There are so many vendors at this Auburn farmers market! A large variety of vendors as well. My favorite is the flower vendor that sells these huge beautiful bouquets for $17. Many fruit and veggie vendors and food trucks! There are a lot of large trees for a fair amount of shade. Even tho it was REALLY packed today we easily found parking. You do have to wear a face mask while walking around. Vendors are taking cash and cards. Many great snacky vendors too, with Roti and coffee and popcorn and kettle corn. It's a great way to start a Saturday and get my kids excited about eating fruits and vegetables Nevada they picked them out by themselves

Great inexpensive spot for frozen yogurt. .70 an ounce is pretty good. The shop is clean, bright, and airy. There's plenty of seating inside and out. There are toppings to add. The service was friendly and answered all our questions. They do offer a military discount. Enjoi!

The frozen yogurt is great, I used to be able to stop by after going out to eat all the time, but the young girls that work there are irresponsible and now close an hour before the posted closing time, I can't get my frozen yogurt and it's disappointing, I just want some frozen yogurt man. Yes, even when it's cold outside, some people are crazy like me. Close at the time posted or just change the hours that are online. It's really not that hard.

Drove to just get frozen yogurt and we showed up at 7:10pm and they were closed! Google said 8pm closing. Bummed to waste a trip and we weren’t the only ones who were disappointed as other customers were there trying to get frozen yogurt and frustrated that they closed so early!

The Old Town Grill, an eatery in Auburn, is a newcomer to the area. Visitors seeking a top-notch breakfast spot may find themselves drawn to this establishment. Although there was a brief wait for seating, it seemed unnecessary as other patrons were allowed to enter without delay. However, once seated, customers enjoyed delectable dishes such as corned beef hash and perfectly cooked eggs. The friendly waitress also served up a delicious latte.
The patio dining is good size. It's covered completely, which makes for a pleasant dining experience. The food and service were excellent. Friendly staff. The daily specials are reasonably priced.

Great food and great atmosphere and even better view. I come here almost every day! And always sit on the outside balcony. The first time i came here, i was greeted by young Johnathan, who he helped me create the best breakfast burrito, which is a custom order from their scramble and omelets menu, which was fantastic! Theres not very many restaurants in Auburn that have breakfast burritos, and if they do... its hard to find a good one especially that grills the whole burrito and has the best cooked freash home style country potatoes inside!! So good! I have been coming back here almost every day since, Also if I may suggest the Mango Mamosa, it is so good it's addicting also the Champagnethey use is the best one i have found so far from all the restaurantsin old town Auburn! It's just the perfect sweetness, not to sweet and just right! One of the best restaurants in town. The service here is outstanding. They really go above and beyond for you here! Thank you, Nissreen, Sowsen, Johnathan, Augustina, and Michelle you guys always make my day better.

My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying two of the best cups of coffee we've ever had. The food was also incredibly good. We live in Sacramento, and enjoy the opportunity to just go up the hill a few minutes and take in the mountain air. Auburn is such a cool little town. Always had good memories there. Old Town grill is just fantastic. Very family oriented and the service is exceptional. Little small touches to make sure everything looked aesthetically pleasing and tasted great.

Very impressed with this little place. I ducked in for lunch on a very hot day in downtown Auburn. Was seated immediately by a friendly young man (Jonathan). Service was quick and the portions were so generous and fresh! I had a tuna croissant sandwich which came with both potato salad and a green salad and a giant iced tea. Highly recommend this cafe! Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
Linda K — Google review
Cozy restaurant. Interior rooms are small but there are two so they accommodate enough people especially during the cold months. The food is OK but not memorable. The sweet potato fries were oily and saggy. The crispy sandwich was OK. The service was friendly but slow. There were tables that had to wait 20 min just to get water. Overall there is potential here but service and food quality can improve.

Nestled within a charming, rustic setting, Tre Pazzi trattoria invites you to indulge in the heart of Italian cuisine. With its warm brick walls and expansive windows that let in natural light, this eatery is a haven for pasta lovers. Their signature dish features pillowy pappardelle paired with rich wine-braised wild boar and a hearty mushroom ragu that will leave your taste buds dancing.
We didn't feel rushed, the food was amazing and the service was great. We will definitely be back. It was great to get to eat Italian food that could still be gluten free. I loved all their veg. Servel months later we were again traveling through the area and planned our trip to make sure we got a visit. Once again we were not disappointed! The service is still amazing, the food (even though we made ourselves choose different dishes, from the ones we loved last time) did not disappoint. The staff is great about making sure items can be gluten free (like their amazing beet salad) and allowing you to truly enjoy their food. We will never miss this stop in our future travels. The owner loves being true to Italian food and it shows in the recipes. His newest wine he brought back from Italy was spectacular!!!

Wonderful Italian restaurant in the heart of Auburn. Great food and service. Atmosphere is welcoming, clean and comfortable. Good place for date night, family meals and large groups. Parking is easily found behind the building or on the street. We had a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meal. Highly recommend the Beet Salad, Lasagna and Fungi Raviolis!

The pastas and salad are pretty good, but the pizza tastes like frozen ones. I would definitely not eat pizza here. Reservation is needed if you are coming in during the peak dinner time.
Wilfred C — Google review
This place was, frankly, disappointing. The previous reviews suggested that this restaurant has really good food. Ours wasn't. The bruschetta was hastily prepared with pieces of tomato and onion that fell off the toast the instant you picked it up. The lobster ravioli had a sauce reminiscent of Chef Boyardee and filling with no lobster flavor. There was one excellent exception, the Chocolate Decadence cake. It was fantastic.
Rod T — Google review
Only been twice. Was never wowed by the food. It needs salt/flavor/umami idk sum things missing. Best things were the appetizers. I’ll give the pizza a try next time

Good food, normal service (It depends on the waiter, ours was a little sullen, but in general it's okay). There is a free parking on the street and a large lot behind the building. We ate two pastas. On Sunday at 5 p.m., only 5 tables was occupied here.
Nikolai B — Google review
I read at least 100+ reviews before making a reservation for an important birthday. A lot of them mentioned service, ours was fantastic. Another thing I noticed was serving sizes, out of the 6 in our group we all had left overs to take home. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, I got what’s like chicken parm (only thing I would change is add some more seasoning to the veggies that come with it), 1 got linguine with mushrooms and, one got the lasagna (lasagna can be hard and my mom was worried about ordering it because a lot of places don’t make it well) but she really liked it, the pesto tortellini was great. The pizza with spicy sausage was a hit for the person that ordered that, my 8 year old was not a fan of the cheese pizza she ordered and then not having ranch 😂, she said the crust was weird, and ended up eating some of the pesto tortellini and said that’s what she’ll get next time. They had a special for vegetarian lasagna and a special for steak. There was no kids menu so I would recommend getting pasta and splitting it with 2-4 kids depending on age. Great food, great time. We will be back. On average it was about $20 a person but 2 people had gotten 2 separate pizzas (we didn’t think to ask if they could do half/half)
Katrina D — Google review
Another post nailed it needs a little something not sure what it is, but great atmosphere great service but the food was just a little bit planned. Maybe they’re just being health-conscious and I’m used to everything being so salty and filled with MSG. Just my opinion still a great place I’d probably come here and just add a little bit moreParmesan cheese next time.

Tap & Vine at the White House is a vibrant bar with a stylish, low-lit interior and outdoor seating. Located in the historic White House in Old Town Auburn, it offers classic American dishes and an extensive wine list. The venue provides a romantic setting for special occasions with its innovative American cuisine and breathtaking views. It's known for its blend of historical charm and modern culinary excellence, making it perfect for a memorable evening.
Everything was delicious except the endive salad, the dressing was a bit too sweet for me. Went there with my husband on a date night. We had the brussel sprouts and calamari, he had the pork belly for entree and i had the restaurant week tasting menu. Service was great, would definitely come back again!

Tap and Vine is a casually elegant, or elegantly casual, dining experience in Auburn, California. Just off I-80 and across from the historic courthouse, there's indoor, outdoor, and downstairs bar dining; something for everyone. As the weather was perfect we opted for the streetside patio. The menu is well balanced, with a range of appetizers and entrees to suit anyone. We particularly noticed the rich and flavorful seasonings that are NOT salt centered! The three of us traded bits of the house burger, the beef short rib, and the halibut, and still had some to take home for snacks. New to the Auburn dining scene, we will definitely return to try the duck confit, the big kid cheese sandwich and soup, and the beet salad.
Janet S — Google review
Food was delicious! One of the best Ceasar salads I have had! We went on a cold evening and sat on the patio. There are heaters but they seemed to be set on the lowest setting with electrical tape keeping people from turning them up. Soup was good, but barely warm. There was a wedding party at the same time and the staff seemed confused and overwhelmed. Would definitely go back and try it again.

Locally owned with a great staff, a nice bar and patio, and everything we tried on the menu was delicious UPDATE 11/16/2017 We always enjoy our trips to Tap & Vine. The food is always creative and plentiful. We have really enjoyed the best salad and the roasted Brussels sprouts, and they just did a new dinner menu so we have new things to try. Occasionally, we thought the service could be a little faster, but then we remind ourselves to slow down and enjoy the company we are with. Nice to have a place in downtown Auburn with good food and outdoor seating. They're doing a great job, and I think it will continue to get better.

I recently visited Tap & Vine in Auburn, CA and had a great experience. The food was excellent, especially the seafood chowder which had a good mix of fish, prawns, and mussels. The service was also really good, and our orders were filled quickly. However, the atmosphere was not as good as we had hoped. We were seated crammed up to a wall and it was difficult to hear everyone in our party. Overall, I would recommend Tap & Vine for their delicious food and great service.

Unbelievable experience! The owner Addison came out and spoke to us a few times. Very personable and humble. Our waitress Hannah was also incredible! What a fantastic addition to Auburn. Highly recommended! Did I mention that the food was UNREAL? So delicious!!!!

Always great food, last minute plans to eat dinner out and we’re able to get a seat at the bar last night for a good burger and calamari appetizer. Best calamari in town, and the burger was amazing. I love their fries as they are light and crisp, not greasy at all. It was super busy there last night but the waiters /bartenders were hustling and service was quick. Great place to dine in Auburn👍❤️

Love this place, old town Auburn but modern upscale casual dining and drinking. Good wine and beer selection of their own brews and other top breweries. My sales was amazing. Try the wedge with pork belly. Amazing!

Nestled in the heart of Auburn, Katrina's Café is a charming eatery that offers a breakfast and eclectic lunch menu. The rustic decor creates a cozy countryside ambiance, perfect for enjoying classic American and café-style dishes. For those with dietary restrictions, the café provides an array of options including gluten-free homemade muffins, GF toast, real potatoes, and even tofu as an egg substitute in any scramble. Visitors rave about the generous portion sizes and friendly service.
The lemon yogurt pancakes were impeccable! I honestly am having a hard time thinking of any place where I've had a pancake with so much flavor and fluffiness. I didn't even need syrup! Perfectly moist. Kudos the chefs because WOW! My husband had the turkey pesto omelet and I only was allowed one bite to try it 😆 but from that 1 bite I definitely knew what I was getting the next time I came in here! The staff were very friendly but definitely busy as they didn't quite make the rounds as often as we needed for fillups but were quickly accommodating when we asked for anything. As far as the seating goes, there is an outdoor option which is nice because the inside was a little cramped with how busy it got. If your needing a little extra elbow room I recommend sitting outside for sure. All in all, a wonderful establishment and will Definitely be returning for the high quality breakfast!

For some reason I'd never heard of Katrina's Cafe before and I come to Auburn for breakfast semi regularly. Someone told me they have the best biscuits and gravy in the foothills so I had to investigate. I'm not a huge biscuit fan, that's my wife's thing, but I am in to gravy. We were greeted and seated very quickly. The server was friendly and she got even more friendly once she found out we were newbs. The server gave us several suggestions and my wife ordered the Lemon Yogurt Pancakes. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. She loved her pancakes and even offered me a bite, they tasted great. The CFS tasted great even without the gravy, which it not usually the case. Starting with a 9/10 steak and then putting 9/10 gravy on it #chefskiss. The chicken fried steak was excellent. Unfortunately the potatoes were dry and unflavorful except for salt. Even the gravy couldn't help the potatoes. The toast was dry and room temp like it sat out too long. They were slammed so I'm not going to dock the service for having empty coffee cups for over 15 minutes. I didn't see much coordination between the servers, it didn't seem like they weren't helping each other but again it could have just been a busy day. I'll update the review after the next visit.

You can’t go wrong coming here for breakfast. The service is excellent, warm and friendly. I had the turkey mushroom omelette with zucchini added. They give you the option of splitting your side with 1/2 potatoes and 1/2 fruit. I even was able to have a side of French toast as they have gluten free bread and will make you whatever you want with it. Such a treat!

First time visiting the Auburn area, this place was recommended to visit for brunch .. Look, food was delicious 💯 👍👍 But we are a Latino family visiting.. My wife and I couldn't help noticing not getting the same service as the people of other race/ Skin color..... We waited for about 7 minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted some coffee or water at least. And not because it was busy... There were plenty of empty tables inside and out ... 2 more couples (not Latinos) came while we were waiting and their service was very obvious... Fast... In a matter of less than a minute the waitress approached them offering something to drink.... An elderly lady with a black walking boot came out and greeted some customers and asked them how everything was.... She Walked by us and didn't even say hello.... We are a paying customer just because we or others don't have the same skin color doesn't mean we expect less than a good service. Will not come back here.

We have not been here to Katrina's Cafe for a couple of years, and we loved it the last time we were here. The dark roasted coffee is good, but their cups are very small for the $3.50 charge. I had eggs, ham, and biscuits and gravy. The eggs and ham were delicious, but I didn't appreciate the eggs and ham being drowned by the gravy, and the biscuits were very small and doughy. My boyfriend had chicken fried steak, potatoes, and wheat toast. He said his meal was okay, not the best. The service was good, but we will not be back.

My all time favorite breakfast place! Always hits the spot! No matter what you choose you’ll never go wrong. It’s very unassuming yet it’s gastronomical especially for those breakfast people, like me! Serving is huge, pretty reasonable for its pricing. If I were to describe with one word, it’s definitely “Yummylicious!” 😋😋😋

Crooked Lane Brewing Company is a local microbrewery offering 21 craft beers, including IPAs, lagers, and pale ales. The large facility features impressive architecture with ample indoor and outdoor seating options. It is easily accessible from Interstate 80 and is dog-friendly. Visitors can enjoy a variety of beers by ordering flights or pints while soaking in the comfortable vibe of the beautiful foothills setting.
Who doesn't like a brewery who constantly gives back to its community. I don't think they ever say no to a charity, nonprofit or anyone who may need to raise funds in Auburn. Oh and I love their new Rice beer called "Rising Sun"

I mean, the beer is very, very good. It really is. But I spent an hour and a half longer at this fine beer making establishment because Monty the bartender was just a freaking rad dude and had that California + life + Crooked Lane Beer pride radiate. Beer: 10/10 - lots of variety and everything I tried was good. Service: 10/10 - conversational, kind, and genuine. If it’s Tuesday and Maria’s food truck is there, that is a MUST and get the carnitas tacos because it’s TACO TUESDAY!

I remember when this building was an auto dealership. They have done a great job of turning it into a fine brewery. When we arrived on a Thursday afternoon they were not very busy but by the time we left at about 4:45 they were getting busy. I enjoyed the Dark Bent, and my daughters liked some of the hard seltzer, which they had in a variety of flavors. We also enjoyed Mederiterian Pesto pizza and a large pretzel.

Great live music venue with amazing Mac and cheese, a friendly staff and good beer. The manager let me leave my RV in the lot overnight and Uber home for safety. Coming back to pick it up I'm reminded of how even though I didn't know anyone when I walked in last night I left feeling like no one there was a stranger. A good feeling. I'm off to see Dead and Company's 60th anniversary shows in Golden Gate Park. This place was a solid opener for the weekend.

Great beer....super nice atmosphere whether you sit inside or out. Cool, knowledgeable staff that can make great suggestions based on what you like. Love this place!

Was cut off after one beer. Because the owner said he didn’t like the way I did the puzzle at the end of obstacle course. I was also cheering people on, but cannot fathom cutting someone off for being involved in the celebration they curated. It felt like the new owner just didn’t like my personality since I can be loud, but after only one beer it wasn’t because I was intoxicated. Not a good way to run a business. Will not be returning.

When I travel I like to visit new breweries. I work in aviation so visiting different breweries throughout the world is a hobby. I frequently drive highway 80 from the Bay Area to Truckee so I frequently stop off for a flight or a pint. Today, I decided to stop off at Crooked Lane Brewery. I ordered a flight so I sampled a variation of beers. They had a well rounded selection. I purchased a four pack of hammock time and a four pack of seltzer. The Brewery has a comfortable vibe in the beautiful foothills. I visited the brewery early so it wasn’t busy. The only complaint I have is the bartender wasn’t warm and welcoming. She seemed as if she wasn’t happy or really didn’t like what she did as a job. Overall beer was good but the bartender seemed bitter. I will return.

Very clean, shaded park. Friendly dogs and people . Cute pond next the the dog park, close to the playground if you have kids. Clean bathrooms. Beautiful dog water feature for them to play in. Well maintained.
Lyndsay M — Google review
Excellent neighborhood park. It has the basics for kids to enjoy some playground time and a little pond with ducks, geese, and turtles. There is also s great dog park here for all the dog owners and lovers. Quietly tucked away off the freeway. There is also a nice big grass area and a walking trail to explore. Plenty of shade and just enough to keep everyone busy. Parking a limited however, which is rarely a problem since I have never seen it too packed.
Cris M — Google review
Ashley is a great dog park! I like that it's grass and not wood chips, it has kiddie pools, hoses, and a waterfall for hot days. It's also a very large area for dogs to run. The surrounding park is also great! There is a duck pond, picnic tables, playground, and a creek that my dog/child enjoyed playing in. The only negative was, there was a lot of poop left behind in the dog park. I almost stepped in it several times. I was concerned that my dog would get it on her as well 😬
Aimee R — Google review
This is a really nice dog park. A place designed by dog lovers for dogs. The waterfall is a special treat on a warm day. Every time we go we meet nice people and dogs. Plenty of shady spots along the perimeter to sit and relax. Plenty of water spots, grass and space to run. What more could you ask for? Note: be sure to check on line to see if the park is open during inclement weather. They update the status and you can count on it being accurate.

A wonderful park. Year round, but it closes whenever the grounds are wet. In the winter, check before you go!

Cute, fenced in off-leash dog park a few minutes outside of Old Town Auburn. Not the most scenic or quiet park in the area (it's right off 80 and the park is cute, though a little plain in comparison to parks nearby) but generally a wonderful space for dogs to run free. It's flat and open so if your dog is anything like ours and has bad recall, you'll be able to find them easily!

The Gold Rush Museum, located in downtown, offers an immersive experience that takes visitors back to the days of the 49ers. Housed in the old Auburn Depot Building, this must-see attraction features numerous exhibits showcasing the area's obsession with gold. Visitors can learn about the life and times of miners and walk through a replica mine while discovering how gold was found and its weight. The museum also boasts an old train on-site.
Small museum with great exhibits and amazing docents! We took 4 boys there to learn about gold rush. The docent Ella is very patient and knowledgeable and gave us a great tour. They even have an area for gold panning! We had so much fun. Highly recommended.

The Gold Rush Museum is the perfect first stop for those who want to learn more about the Europeans who migrated to the Americas, the settlements they built, and how they first came across gold. The staff here is absolutely wonderful, so passionate about the history of the area and willing to share extra knowledge if you're willing to listen. It only took us about 30 minutes to get through the Museum, but it was well worth it. As someone who was born and raised in California, and grew up learning a lot about the gold rush, it always amazes me how much more there is to still learn, especially from locals here in Auburn. I highly recommend visiting here and listening to the stories of the locals.
Amita S — Google review
Unfortunately when I visited it was closed and I couldn’t come any other day. I decided to visit anyway and it wasn’t disappointing. You can see a bunch of informative and well preserved exhibits. It already gives you the idea of the gold rush from the outside.

Very nice museum with free entrance, donations are apreciated. We got a wounderful guided tour by the man on site, he told very informative stories. You will know a lot about the life and times of the miners. And you can also walk through the replika of a mine. Learn about the weight of gold and how it was found. There is also an old train on site. The whole place is designed with love and really worth a visit!

What a fantastically informative and interactive museum! Great for kids and adults alike, there are tons of exhibits to learn about the Gold Rush, and it's free! If you come, please make a donation to help keep this place going! The owner was super friendly and knowledgeable; we really enjoyed our time here.

Used book store
Winston Smith Books, located in Downtown, is a haven for book lovers. The store offers a diverse range of both new and used books, including a notable collection of works by local authors. Visitors can rely on the expertise of the owners to help them find specific titles. While perusing the shelves, customers can easily lose track of time due to the extensive selection available. However, some patrons suggest that adding a coffee shop upstairs would enhance the experience and encourage longer stays.
Great book inventory, and we are always greeted by the manager. And as we go into the store he makes sure that we are handling the book with care. I just love how he cares about the books and is SO nice.
Zachary M — Google review
My friends and I were walking through Auburn and came across a bookstore having the BEST day. We wandered inside and were looking around, then the manager came up to us and asked us if we were buying anything three times, which we said we were browsing, until finally he told us we needed to leave?? Kicked us out for browsing his books. We were thinking about buying something but no longer. We confronted him, and he proceeded to tell us that we were disrespecting his books by simply looking at them and enjoying them while we considered buying them. Will not be stopping here EVER again and if you don’t want your day ruined, don’t stop here either. Look at the other comments - there’s multiple other comments where he’s done this to other people.
Mia L — Google review
4 Stars – Still One of My Favorite Spots, But This Visit Felt Different I’ve always loved Winston Smith Books and have had great conversations with Winston himself in the past. He’s passionate about books and treats them with deep care—he even describes them as “old ladies and old men” and asks customers not to pull them by the spine to avoid damage. However, during a recent visit with two friends, the atmosphere felt different. Winston seemed to hover a lot more than usual, and at one point, I was told not to touch a book unless I was going to buy it. That was a bit off-putting, especially since browsing is such a big part of the bookstore experience. That said, every other visit I've had here has been amazing, and I truly respect how much love and effort goes into the store. I’m still rating it 4 stars and absolutely willing to update it to 5 if my next visit brings back the warmth and welcoming vibe I’ve come to know.
Stephen C — Google review
This is the most amazing bookstore I have ever been to. I travel all over the state for work and go to all the used bookstores that I can find and this is the best. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and he has the best selection I’ve seen.
Brett C — Google review
Really great book selection and the prices haven’t been too offensive whenever I’ve been in. It’s cute, quiet, and in a desirable spot in the center of town. Only thing worth noting is a new book I bought from the shop has all of the slightly offensive words marked out in ink… the book was published in 1990. All of the 1000+ pages have been meticulously filtered this way. If purchasing a book in an author’s, and publishing company’s, desired version is important to you as a buyer you might want to look elsewhere. It just seems wrong to have a brand new book censored by a business owner because the words don’t sit right with their personal beliefs— especially when it comes to the English language and composition I’d rather be able to come to my own conclusions.
Shane F — Google review
There is nothing better than a good book. Winston Smith books has an endless supply of great books to satisfy everyone's preference. I could have spent hours perusing the shelves. The only element that could make this experience better, a coffee shop in the upstairs portion. Customers would feel more inclined to stay longer, if there was a sitting area to enjoy a tasty beverage. This is a great budget date destination. It would be fun to discover each other's book interests. Or pick a random book and discuss the book's topic. Then go to one of the local businesses for an adult beverage or coffee. I always have a great time going to this venue. My Tannahill Weavers (Scottish folk music) visited in September and I and some friends had a blast. I have been here for other events, it has a cool vibe, local atmosphere, and just a old town feel that takes me to a different time and place.

Great to see a play with young kids at a place with so much history. A lot of charm to it, but I didn't feel I was sitting in an old theater. The seats were comfortable with cup holders that we have been accustomed to using. The concession stand had great things to offer including organic popcorn. A bit on the expensive side, but that is everywhere. Bathrooms were very "cozy", must of made people smaller back in the day. Going at intermission you might find it a bit awkward if you are used to more space.

Pelican's Roost Fish & Chips is a local favorite known for its fresh and crispy fish and chips. While the facility may appear dated and have a slight odor from frying, the food more than makes up for it. The expertly battered and fried fish, magnificent blooming onion, fresh salads, and delicious tartar sauce make it a must-visit spot in Auburn.
Excellent historical place to come have the best fish and more in Auburn. Fish is expertly battered and fried. Blooming onion is magnificent! The salads are really fresh and delicious. Best tartar sauce ever! Delicious salad dressing too. Been coming here for years. Never disappointed. Terrific customer service and I just love the atmosphere. Must stop in place when coming to Auburn. Very nice people!

Excellent combination plate, which consisted of scallops, shrimp, calamari, and cod along with fries. It served 3 of us with leftovers. The fish was excellent with a perfectly crispy crunch even after taking it home to eat. The Cole Slaw, which I ordered as a side, was also delicious. The restaurant was not busy for im person dining, but the ambiance was welcoming and was nicy decorated with antiques and a hometown feel. It was very clean, including the restroom. Service was excellent despite just picking up a takeout order. I highly recommend them for their food and service.

I was very impressed with their fried fish! I ordered the crab cake sandwich but it appeared to be a pre frozen crab cake, and it was much too small for the bun, it still had a good taste and was not dried out. My husband ordered the fish and chips. They are very light and crunchy, I didn't find it to be overly greasy, and they were also good and juicy. Very good cole slaw, and good tea.

This is a real hidden gem in Auburn - or on route to your favourite Lake Tahoe destinations from Northern California. You can't go wrong with fish & chips here, although I've had better tartar sauce elsewhere. As a tourist, I'd go with cod, which costs a little more than catfish. The portion is generous - we've always had leftovers. Remember leftover French fries from some other restaurants, the staleness? Not those from Pelican's Roost! This is even more pronounced when you notice that the owners are first generation Korean immigrants. (In addition to fish and chips, they have a selection of American food like any typical American eatery.) The old lady in this family-owned joint is always warm and quick with service. (I've always come to the place after 1pm on a weekend so I can't tell about busier hours.) Seating is spacious, with intriguing retro decors indoors and an interesting "fresh air enclosed" seating area where you can go people watching - or car watching mostly, while eating. The latter is not your usual outdoor seating so you have to experience it to appreciate. I accidentally discovered this five years ago when I entered Auburn after 2pm. After eating at another Auburn gem for some years, I decided to bring my daughter, also a fish & chips lover, to this place last year. No regrets.

American restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Auburn, Local Heroes is a charming eatery that redefines American fast food with its unique twists on beloved classics. This compact spot specializes in gourmet burgers, sandwiches, crispy fries, and onion rings, all complemented by an impressive selection of craft beers and indulgent milkshakes. The atmosphere buzzes with energy, especially on weekends when locals flock to enjoy their delicious offerings.
This is a small local Auburn business. The owner cooked the food for us with a smile and great customer service! Came here with kids, and they loved the burgers, too. The price is a little expensive, but it's worth it. Got pickled fries. you must try if you are adventurous. Free parking on the back, and great sitting indoor and outside. Great jewel of Aulburn!
Aleksey L — Google review
After a morning hike in Colfax, California, we found ourselves absolutely starving for a satisfying burger. That's when we stumbled upon Local Heroes in Auburn—and we were lucky enough to walk right up to the counter without a wait. We went for the California Burger, topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, and avocado. It was, without a doubt, fantastic—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Being a fan of fried pickles, I couldn’t resist ordering a small order, along with a side of onion rings. Both were crispy, hot, and the perfect accompaniment to our burgers. The service was quick, and everything was served fresh and delicious. If you’re ever in the area and craving a top-notch burger or simply a great variety of options, Local Heroes is definitely worth a visit. Plus, they’ve got a selection of local beers on draft, so you can enjoy a cold one to pair with your meal. Highly recommended!
Nikki J — Google review
We regularly make the 20 minute drive here because they make the best burgers around. They have always been juicy and cooked perfectly. The chicken tenders have also been hot and fresh made every time. And to top it off, the chocolate banana shake is fantastic. The staff has been great every time as well. We'll keep coming back.
Eric S — Google review
We always stop by when driving through the town. Been here so many times and always enjoy the food and beer. People working here are very friendly. Last few times we ordered fried mac and cheese and those are so delicious. We also always get fried pickles. U can't beat the prices!

Simply delicious. This was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. The meat was juicy and tender. The toppings were fresh. The fries were crispy and have skin on them. Indoor and outdoor seating. Quick service and good prices.
Adam K — Google review
Cute local spot the food wasn't bad, but I had high expectations as it was recommended to me. The chili cheese fries were good. The burger was average. The cardiac burger is extremely spicy. Cute bar area and small burger place vibes. I am not fond of the idea of tipping at a place where you serve yourself, clean up after yourself, pour your own water, etc. Busy place every time I tried to use the one bathroom it was taken. I will definitely try this place again. Maybe the burger was off the day I came in.

If you're on the hunt for mouthwatering barbecue, look no further than Smokey Pit Barbeque. This charming family-run establishment may not boast flashy decor, but it more than makes up for it with its incredible food and warm atmosphere. The aroma of smoked meats wafts through the air as they cook right outside, creating an inviting ambiance that draws you in. The menu is packed with delicious options, including their standout pulled pork—tender and flavorful, served alongside generous portions of sides.
The Pit Master runs an awesome local outdoors wood smoked BBQ and deliverer's an excellent tasty sauce. Inside or To Go...! ❤️ Love

Delicious pork ribs, homemade mashed potatoes, and chili beans. Nothing was oversalted, which I appreciate. Servings so big I was able to get 3 meals out of it. Nice smoked flavor on the ribs. Yummy special treat!
Laura W — Google review
Food is super delicious Tri-tip sandwich lean and very delicious bbq very generous on the meat too Potato salad not too mayonnaise and coleslaw seasoned perfectly Prices very reasonable too Will definitely go again
Ann S — Google review
Yeah this place is solid overall. They got a lot to choose from & provide a lot for a little. Got the pulled brisket sandwich. Not huge but did the job, & came with 2 sides. It was a little too much bbq sauce for me, kind if overpowered the meat flavor. However their prices are outrageously reasonable which boosts it up to 5 stars.
David B — Google review
It's so hard to find real BBQ in the area. Smokey Pit was not the Holy Grail I was hoping to find. The brisket was okay, however it was shredded and smothered in sauce. The pork ribs were very fatty and seemed like they had been reheated. The restaurant in itself seem to be not very sanitary and that obviously is a huge red flag. I'd give this place a pass next time and pray that something better shows up in the Auburn area.
CJ ( — Google review
Oh my goodness.. this is amazing BBQ. The Ribs were so meaty, BBQ beans were not to sweet and not to smokey just perfect. Macaroni and potato salads homemade. Hot link spicy but not so spicy that you couldn't enjoy it. Tri tip sandwich stuffed with tender slices. Only 30 minutes from the house so yes we will be back. A must try for anyone who likes BBQ
Melissa K — Google review
Hands down the best BBQ place in the area. Small family business ran by a man who cares about his work. It's a small hole in the wall with little to no curb appeal besides a large star sign above the door. The food was absolutely delicious and the servings are more than fair. He smokes and cooks his meat outside their front door in a smoker that fills the air with a wonderful smell. The pulled pork is my favorite dish with soft and a tender pork mouthful. It goes along with two sides. He brings your food to you and keeps each portion separate using plates that have their own compartments. We will continue coming here every time we are in the area. His food is great and so is his attitude. Customer service was great. The building is small and there are only a few tables, even a few outside. But it's a diamond in the rough right off of the freeway! Stop by often!
Cory T — Google review
I like flavor with my food, so seasonings were missing, but they were cooked just right. The tri tip sandwich was bomb. I just wish I had some horseradish to go with it.

Nestled in a vibrant community, Auburn Thai Garden Restaurant is a charming eatery that offers an array of spicy Thai dishes complemented by an impressive selection of beers. With its inviting Asian decor, this modest spot has become a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Diners rave about the consistently flavorful food, from their delectable curries to their renowned wonton soup. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout—where the quality remains top-notch—the experience is always satisfying.
Highly recommend this restaurant!! It was on the way to Tahoe. We went on Saturday evening. Thereweres around 20 minutes waiting. Amazing vegetarian options. We got the Tom Kha soup, Drunken Noodles, Panang Curry and Jasmine rice. The price was reasonabl, and the quantity was apt. The taste was mind-blowing!! We got 3/5 spice and it was perfect spice where we could taste other flavors too along with spice. The service was fast too!! Definitely coming back next time we're in the area.

Glad I stopped in for lunch. The Thai red curry chicken was delicious, and the cucumber salad was perfect. Reasonably priced and good service too 👍

5 STARS!! It was very busy when me and my family came in and there was a 20 minute wait but it was so worth it. I ordered number 44 on the menu which was chicken, and wide noodles with broccoli and carrot (I recommend). Number 44 had a lots of flavor and the perfect balance between vegetables and meat. Even though the restaurant was so busy, we still got our food in just a few minutes!! This place is perfect if you're a fan of asian quisine.

Best Thai food in the area hands down! Affordable prices $8 lunch, $10 dinner. Can’t beat it. Exactly what you want in Thai food. Spicy, salty, savory, sweet in the perfect balance. Their curries are amazing. I will have to try their noodle dishes next. Parking lot is small, and place can get busy. But it’s popular for a reason.

This is a small place but the food is fantastic. And the are incredibly fast regardless of how many other customers are there. I recommend the Thai Tea, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, and Mango Sweet Rice. Can't go wrong, everything is good and fresh!

I’ve been coming here for years and the food is consistently good and has great flavor. We came yesterday during the lunch rush and it was packed. We had ordered to go and our food was ready when they said it would be. They did a good job packing the food up for to go- they definitely have a process down and the quality of the dining experience didn’t suffer from taking it away from the restaurant. I think their curries are very good and their soups. Their wonton soup is probably one of the best I’ve had.

Excellent food, as always. I first tried it 10+ years ago, and it's always been amazing. Also very reasonably priced! The Tom Kha Gai soup is especially good and is really close to what I had in Thailand. Reservations recommended for larger groups or busy times, but you need to make them 4+ hours in advance.

Not too far from Sacramento! Scenic drive throughout the ranch's with horses. Very friendly and helpful rangers at the check-in. Note, book parking spot in advance or you won't get through. Loved the hike, the verity of trails. Path to Hidden falls at the decline, so make sure you have snack or two to get you refueled on a way back, as you will be climbing uphill. Few spots down the path with bench to sit down and take a breather. The scenery of the park and trails are amazing. Refreshing air and big reward at the end with nice tame and warm water to walk in. Kids were even swimming, it was so warm in the very beginning of May. There is definitely a reason to visit this place multiple times! Recommend it to all adventures, nature loving families 😊

Thankfully, it wasn't too hot When we came. I would say my only complaint is the amount of poison Oak, but the trails were very well maintained and easy to use, and the rest stops along the trails were very nice. Plenty of plenty of parking, even though we got a day pass. I think next time we will just come and hit the trail head earlier in the day.

I wanted to go see a waterfall for my birthday! Turned 57 today. Went to hidden falls regional Park. It was about a mile and a half to the waterfall. The waterfall wasn't real big. Was kind of disappointed. And total of 3 mi all together. The walk back was harder than the walk there. If you want to see a bigger waterfall I wouldn't recommend coming here
Tracey S — Google review
Really beautiful hike, steep but not unattainable for the average person. We went end of April, there were poppies and other wildflowers, deer and turkey and cows. Really gorgeous. It is a wide gravel path that is compact but steep, there are trails of different difficulties and terrain, a couple bench spots to sit. Very clean. There's a parking lot, a friend told me it gets busy busy during the weekend but it was pretty nice during the week, not alone on the trail but definitely not crowded. Plenty of shade.
Tammy F — Google review
5/31/25 they are way too strict about online parking booking especially on weekend or holidays otherwise they don’t let you in. Attention: on warm days you need more than half gallon drinking water. THERE IS NO TAB OR WATER FOUNTAIN IN THE WHOLE TRAIL, only at parking lot. Most of the return path is uphill and rarely shade, be prepare with cap or other sun protections. Definitely recommended and worth to see. Check pix. There is no park wifi and no network coverage.
Ori B — Google review
Always a fun hike ,lots of trail ,great for solo and partner hiking ,as well as biking and trekking , bring lots of water, and make sure to grab a map. Weekends there is a parking fee so you may need reservations, always double check, hiked about 10 miles this last thursday
Noah C — Google review
Was a great little gem hidden for sure . The ride to get there from the highway is very pretty- lots of curves- fun drive. Take LOTS OF WATER! & use bathroom at the parking lot! once your on the trail there is not any water stations or bathrooms. I will say it was a harder hike than the reviews. But if you remember it is downhill going in but all uphill going back, and know your limits on hot days. You will be ok. It was very fun and dog friendly. Loved cooling off in the flowing creek! The cows were a fun extra my dog had never seen a cow so it was a nice surprise. All in all was a fun day.

On the weekends remember you need to purchase a parking pass or else you cannot go into the park. Nice easy hike to the waterfalls. I went in June so it was hot by 10 am.

Wonderful family run winery in a stunning country setting. They put so much heart into their wines. If you are lucky enough to have the husband or wife lead you through your tasting, you're in for a real treat. They are thoughtful in naming their wines, with a story behind each one. All of their wines are delicious, but finishing off with their Pawnee Tawny Port is a real treat - it is slightly sweet with delightful caramel and nutty/smokey flavors. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a glass in their wonderful outdoor area overlooking the Tempranillo vines.

Great service, friendly, attentive. The music, OUTLAW HIPPIE, was perfect for that venue. I appreciate how the winery supported a local musician. Thank you Lone Buffalo! I couldn't get my 93 year old mom to leave.

Paul provided such incredible service! He was knowledgeable about the wine and so friendly. We visited multiple wineries today and the experience at Lone Buffalo was by far the superior experience. We were personally seated (not sent to find our own seats in a crowd of drunk people), and served each wine individually with a personal description for each wine (rather than as a flight with a paper to guide us through). We went out to have a "normal" experience and that is exactly what we got at Lone Buffalo! Thank you for helping us thoroughly enjoy our Saturday!
Lyndsay R — Google review
We had such a wonderful time! The winery was so accommodating of our group. The wines were fantastic and such a great value for the tasting price. We will definitely be back. Matt and Phil are the best!

My wife and I visited recently and I couldn't have enjoyed our visit more. Each wine we tasted was delicious and made the decision of what ones to bring home a challenge. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. While everyone we talked to was very welcoming and friendly, I really enjoyed talking with Matt. Not only was he very knowledgeable and informative but he shared that in a manner that was interesting and down to earth. While I know beer very well, I still have a lot to learn about wine and he didn't make me feel like I was in a pretentious environment like I have at other places over the years. I definitely plan on visiting again next time we're in the area.

Nestled in the Sierra foothills, Mt. Vernon Winery is a unique and enchanting venue that offers a picturesque setting for celebrations. The property's exceptional hospitality and personalized service create a magical atmosphere, making it an ideal location for weddings and special events. Visitors can enjoy shaded outdoor tastings and cheerful service, with the opportunity to sample a variety of wines and ciders. While some may find the narrow shoulders on the nearby roads challenging, the overall experience at Mt.
Nice place to stop and enjoy a variety of wines and ciders. Two different buildings on site to keep thing separate. Can't say I personally loved the wines, but that can be very individual. Go give it a try!

Juicy and fruity are the two biggest charactristics of the wine made here. Especially the red blends are totally the most special ones. Also, the two lovely cats bring more fun to this place.
Timmy L — Google review
I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Mt. Vernon Winery was so astoundingly bad, I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment I arrived, the place reeked of cheapness disguised as "rustic charm." The tasting room was overcrowded, understaffed, and questionably clean. Sticky counters, dusty wine bottles, and an overall lack of attention to hygiene made it feel more like a forgotten garage sale than a reputable winery. The wine? Insulting for the price. I've had $10 grocery store bottles with more depth and character. Every glass tasted like someone had watered it down and thrown in a handful of pennies for flavor. And don’t even get me started on the outrageous prices. It's like they're banking on tourists who don’t know any better. Sadly, some probably fall for it. Staff were either clueless or couldn’t be bothered to fake friendliness. Questions about the wine were met with blank stares or bored shrugs. At one point, I overheard a staff member mocking a guest behind their back. Classy. The worst part? There was a general feeling of neglect and disorganization that made the whole place feel…off. It didn’t feel welcoming or safe. Just uncomfortable. There are countless wineries that are warm, authentic, and worth every penny. Mt. Vernon Winery is not one of them. Save yourself the time, the money, and the bad taste in your mouth — literally and figuratively.

Pretty, shaded outdoor tasting for covid on the hot smoky Thursday afternoon I visited. No one else there at 12:30. Cheerful service with cold water. I got to go in the tasting room to pay since I was the only customer (and masked). The cab franc was nice. I walked from the Toyota dealer nearby, but some shoulders are narrow, so I can't recommend that. 9/2/2022 Cab Franc is gone. Estate Barbera was OK.

While the winery is on beautiful property the wine and service were quite lack luster and left me disappointed in my choice to visit.

Regional Park Auburn is a stunning urban oasis that caters to the local community with its lush landscapes and diverse recreational offerings. The park features a picturesque pond surrounded by a walking path, creating an inviting atmosphere for leisurely strolls. Families can enjoy well-maintained playgrounds, picnic spots, and sports facilities like tennis and pickleball courts nestled in shaded areas.
Great course. Good variety of shots and wooded vs open. Good signage and baskets (red paint so easy to spot), two to choose from. Multiple pin locations.

I love this park! When I lived nearby, I walked my dog there everyday. Great walk. There is a lot of duck & goose poop in the grassy areas, luckily my dog isn't interested!

We really enjoy the park, it's kept in great condition, clean and beautiful. Our granddaughter loves the play area and loves taking walks around the pond with our German Shepard. Regional Park is beautiful in summer too but you need to go early to avoid the heat!

Very large park space complete with a good sized duck pond that has a sidewalk all around which creates a paved "hiking trail" if you will. There's two playground areas on either side with lots of picnic tables and BBQ pits. There's about four fully fenced tennis courts for tennis or pickle ball. There's a free disc golf course that goes through big oaks and by a small creek. The whole place is very natural and picturesque. During spring there's baby ducks and geese, too cute. There is a baseball field which is used during the season. I think you can even fish in the pond. Great space to bring the family or do some sports things with friends.

A nice disc course although it's a real shame that it plays directly on top of some of the last few Native American Grinding Stones left in the area. For those who don't realize or know, untold generations of California Native Americans harvested acorns from the many variety of Oak trees as a main food source. Once acorns were harvested they were pounded as fine as possible into flour, it was then leached. Acorns contain tannic acid which is very bitter and which is poisonous in large amounts. The leaching process removed the tannic acid from the acorn flour. The leaching was traditionally done by digging a shallow sand pit near a creek. The flour was then carefully spread in the bottom of the pit and water was continuously poured over it until it was sweet. It would take several hours of pouring to leach the flour. All the while singing and telling stories of their traditional and religious beliefs and experiences. From Grandmother on down to Mothers and Grandaughters. For so long in fact, that they hollowed out recesses into the extremely hard granite stone that have now come to be known as Grinding Stones. Now, left unprotected by the Regional Park and unnoticed by Disc Golf players who trample them everyday. I'm sure Native American descendents would consider this place sacred and find this disturbing. I wonder, would it be too difficult to realign the disc course around them? I believe basket #7 sits directly on top of the rock outcropping where the grinding holes are, so people are pretty much forced to walk all over them searching for their disc, albeit- unknowingly. Without even a sign or marker, it should at least be preserved and promoted as a historical site of some significance that others may enjoy today alongside the other attractions of this beautiful park. Who knows, if the Park Service were to clear away the thick overgrown blackberry bushes along the meandering creek, that more would be discovered and enjoyed instead of encouraging homeless dope friends to squat there. I could see something like other popular Grinding Stone parks in California where school kids come to learn about the People that lived here for thousands of years harvesting and hunting in harmony with their surrounding World. I contacted the Parks Service which could not seemed concerned at all nor interested in dialogue. Way to go Auburn Parks and Rec. Update 6/24: The park has decided to fill the grinding stone holes with dirt instead of realigning hole #7. Proves the Auburn region is still racist. Sad really.

We've visited Vina Castellano three times already, and every time is an unforgettable experience! We love bringing our friends and family here whenever they visit. The wine tasting in the cave is absolutely a unique and magical experience - there's something special about sipping incredible wine in such a cozy, beautiful setting. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about their wines. Each visit is a new favorite, from the rich reds to the refreshing whites. We can't recommend Vina Castellano enough for anyone looking for a great local winery experience in the Sierra Foothills. Already planning our next trip!

We loved the wines, and the tasting room and surrounding vineyards were very picturesque. The red blend (the 2015 La Borracha) was our favorite, but we also really enjoyed the white they were pouring (2018 Verdejo). The tasting room is set up in a cave and the temperature in there is noticibly cooler, which would be especially nice in the summer. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely nice and happy to answer questions we had about the wines. As an added bonus, they are family and dog friendly. We will definitely be back!

Fun winery with a cave. Went on a rainy day in Feb and it was still very popular. Great Spanish varietals. My favorites were the Syrah and the Albuelito. Also on the Harvest Host list if you are and RV’er. Kat was serving and did a great job.

Alan was an amazing host for the wine tasting. Very friendly and it had an awesome story behind the Vineyard. The cave that you taste the wines in was very homey and spacious. We loved our experience here.

It was busy when we came. The rain brought lots of people inside. The seating was limited and with the event going during our visit it was even more limited. It was a great blend of tasting and this included sangria...parking is limited...the restroom is outside of the actual tasting room. They have about four tables and four stations of seating with furniture. The tasting is 7 p.o. with five wines and four sangria choices.

It is a remarkable cave venue! Love the feeling there. Been there twice, both a Place Wine Trail event. And both times, 3 years apart we felt like we were just "put up with" bring a part of the event. We'll give them another try but not at an event. I know they must have better wines to offer.
Charlie J — Google review
The cave keeps all warms inside with the good taste of the wine. Personally, the newest released GSM (Grenache, Syrah & Mouverdre) is the best.
Timmy L — Google review
Sip your wine while in a cave. Their wines are Spanish, a bit different from other wineries in the area and the wines were delicious. I bought 2 bottles of Monastrell with juicy flavors that do not take over the flavor of the wine. The manager is very friendly and busy hosting all those that showed up. There is a tranquil pond to view fish, sit and relax, & a few paddleboats for your enjoyment. To add to the flavor of the winery a few pups roam around while in the "cave" or walk with you around the grounds. I liked this winery.

This charming eatery offers a cozy atmosphere adorned with quirky decor reminiscent of an old-fashioned kitchen. Guests can enjoy generous portions of freshly prepared meals, from hearty breakfasts to satisfying lunches. Nothing like flying in from Fairfield for a quick lunch. Plane parking convenient! 😎 Lots of food options. Good size portions. Not an empty plate left at the table. French dip- yummy with lean meat, sweet potato fries crispy & flavorful. Patty melt with pickle fries was delicious Theo chicken sandwich with potato salad was delicious Burger with reg fries also delicious!

We love bringing our out of town guests here. It’s so fun to watch all the planes come and go. You have to be a little patient though sometimes the food comes out slow, but it depends on your timing. The best place to sit is outside. My favorite is a couple eggs with a giant pancake.

Great little hometown gem at the Auburn Airport! I would probably label this as a place to get a "coffee shop" or "Diner -type" breakfast or lunch which is certainly not a criticism, just an observation. In fact it's a positive thing to be able to go and get good "normal" food, deliciously and freshly prepared with generous portions and fair prices. I have had breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and salads here and everything was good. If I was going to find anything to complain about it would be the limited hours of operation but that just makes it more special.

My wife and I flew in for breakfast on a beautiful day. Staff friendly, efficient and engaging. Sat next to the apron and watched the helicopters and planes takeoff. Food was excellent. My wife loved Brian's omelet. We will be back!
DONALD S — Google review
Went here because my son wanted to see a plane take off and or land. We were also rewarded with delicious food and generous portions. I had the Cobb salad and it was loaded with bacon. Our server Katrina was super helpful and nice. Also a cheese burger, with a mountain of fresh crispy French fries. We also had a chicken pesto sandwich with a large portion of reach fruit on the side. The interiors has kitschy stuff with a old timely kitchen aesthetic. Would come back again. The outdoor area was too hot on the day we came but we did catch 3 Cessna take offs and a helicopter execute a sick approach and hover less than 20 feet off the deck.

My step-dad was pilot and airplane guy, so I have been coming to this spot for the past 20 years. It is lovely to sit on the patio and watch the planes come and go. I always go for lunch, and the food is consistent and delicious. I love the half sandwich and half Connie Salad with a side of fries. Definitely a cherished spot!

Best bloody Mary around! Food was amazing too- especially the onion rings! Fun atmosphere and great spot to relax and watch the airplanes on a weekend day for brunch. Great prices and large portions, and awesome service. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

Great food! Was very tasty and enjoyable plus how can you not like the atmosphere! And the portions were huge! Would definitely fly into Auburn again to eat here. The only thing was that the food took a long time to come out so will allocate longer stopover next time.

Taco Tree

Fast food restaurant
Taco Tree, a beloved fast-food gem in Auburn, CA, has been delighting locals since 1979. Nestled in the former Joe's Frostie-Drift In, this diner-style eatery has cultivated a loyal following over the years. With its no-frills approach and commitment to quality ingredients, Taco Tree stands apart from larger chains like Taco Bell. Both locations—north and south Auburn—offer a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and cleanliness that enhances your dining experience.
Real food, good prices. We stopped by on the recommendation of co-workers. Way better than we expected. Ordered the three tacos and beef bean tostada, and chips with red salsa. So good. We ordered super nachos next. Save some chips and salsa to put on the nachos and clean up the yummy cheese sauce.
Krista J — Google review
Food was pretty good. They know to drain the meat. The bell has lost a regular, I will go here instead.

As we go camping / driving through we always have seen taco tree and never stopped ! Finally our curiosity and hunger has made us stop and I am glad we did . Ordered nachos small and large , quesadilla and a taco and let me tell you it was worth the stop . Delicious , fast service and. Very clean restaurant .
Christine N — Google review
Taco Tree in Auburn, CA, has been around since 1979, carving out its own identity as a no-frills, locally loved taco joint. It took over the old Joe’s Frostie-Drift In, and over the decades, it's built a cult following. Unlike the corporate expansion of Taco Bell or the slow franchise growth of Jimboy’s, Taco Tree has remained a hyper-local institution, and you can feel it the moment you walk in. I spent years in the 1990s hitting this spot up with my mom and siblings on our constant weekend sessions at Sierra skate. The menu keeps it simple—Super Burritos, Bean Tostadas, and the oddly satisfying Bun Taco are standouts. The cheese is better than you'd expect, the produce is fresh, and the prices are rock solid. It’s fast, cheap, and consistent, which is exactly what you want from a place like this. If you're after artisan, overthought tacos with housemade tortillas and eight-hour braised meats, this isn't that. But if you grew up eating here, or you’re just looking for a bite that’s nostalgic and unpretentious, it absolutely delivers. Where Taco Tree pulls ahead of Taco Bell is in its execution—no gimmicks, no need for new menu items every three months to stay relevant, just solid, well-seasoned fast food that doesn’t taste like it came off an assembly line. Compared to Jimboy’s, it lacks that signature Parmesan-dusted shell, but it also doesn’t carry the weird inconsistency that plagues Jimboy’s from location to location. Service is friendly, the place is clean, and while the WiFi situation is a bit of a joke, let’s be real—this isn’t the kind of spot you’re supposed to camp out in with your laptop anyway. It’s a grab-your-food-and-go kind of place, and that’s fine. Taco Tree does what it does best: simple, affordable tacos with a side of Auburn nostalgia. If you’re in town, it’s worth a stop—just don’t come expecting a reinvention of the wheel.
James P — Google review
I've given it five stars because with consistency comes strength and this place is exactly like it was when I was 10 years old. It's not the best, it's not the worst (by far...) but it's always amazingly good somehow. Gotta give em 5 stars.
Dan N — Google review
Taco Tree is what Taco Bell could be if the food looked like their ads. Taco Tree is the best fast food Mexican place! I could eat here everyday. The food is so good. The service is also so good. It is always presented hot and fresh.
Doug 9 — Google review
Sad because this is what I wanted more than my burrito. i live in sac and had my fiance bring it down and he asked for it deconstructed. it’s missing meat and tomatoes.. what a bummer.. way to make a pregnant lady upset.

I love both locations north and south auburn. If your gonna eat inside I would recommend north auburn location (Bigger inside). Very nice staff, always clean super fresh every time no cheap ingredients and very very very delicious! Ground beef is very good not like taco bell or del taco etc. Large Super nachos are a must try! Crunchy ground beef tacos are the best American style you will ever try! Oh and their hot sauce pairs perfectly with their food (hot or mild) Not once have I had a mistake FRESH CHIPS FRESH VEGGIES EVERY TIME !!!!

Vietnamese restaurant
Pho King Good is a delightful culinary gem that offers an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes alongside some Chinese favorites like chow mein, all within a spacious and relaxed atmosphere. Spanning 3,630 square feet, this restaurant boasts a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and ample seating for guests to enjoy their meals comfortably. Visitors rave about the noodle wonton soup, praising its heavenly broth and crisp vegetables that add a pleasant sweetness to each bite.
What a fun spot! We were visiting a client and wanted to find a fun plan to eat along the drive. This place did not disappoint! It’s nothing fancy when you drive upon it, but the marketing once you get inside is fantastic! And we were greeted right away and offered a seat anywhere. We were there early so service was super fast. I ordered the rice vermicelli with 2 items and I selected the grilled pork and egg roll. My colleague got the bang mi sandwich and she said it was fantastic, though the slices of jalapeño got to her towards the end! I loved my vermicelli bowl! Everything was so fresh, the meat was tender and flavorful and not fatty. Huge portions too! Their menu was quite large and their is ample seating. We will definitely go back again. I just found out there is a Pho King Good out here by me so I will definitely stop by and see if it is as good as this place!
SoCalTraveler — Google review
We found a new favorite! I’ve been wanting to stop here for forever. We finally got the chance! I had the noodle wonton soup- AMAZING. The broth was something straight out of heaven. The veggies were crisp and delicious. It had a pleasant sweetness to it that I enjoyed very much. The chicken/shrimp spring rolls were fire. My husband got a plate that had a variety of different things. Bomb! Of course we couldn’t leave without grabbing one of their awesome shirts. Marketing on point 🎯. All in all, great experience. We cannot wait to come back. There’s so many things on the menu that I’m looking forward to trying. TIP: bring cash. They do have an ATM within the restaurant, but if you can plan ahead, that would be ideal.

I stopped by while I was playing golf. I didn’t expect to find such an authentic Vietnamese spot in Auburn. The rice plate was delicious. They are very polite and professional. I am definitely saving this spot to revisit

I'm trying different phō each time. So far, I've loved every dish. This time, I ordered the P2 and asked for extra onions. I was given a side of white and green onions with cilantro. I put it all in my bowl. It was SO good!
Raybies F — Google review
We visited here because our friend recommended it. The restaurant was packed for dinner on Sunday at 7pm. - Spring roll with grilled pork: good. The grill pork was tender and smokey. The vermicelli was perfectly cooked and the veggie was fresh. The peanut sauce was delicious. - P2 (rare steak pho): The noodle was chewy yet still firm. The broth was savory and good. The rare steak was good. - Grilled chicken & egg roll rice: the portion was quite generous. The grilled chicken was tender and smokey (tasted ok). The egg roll was crispy and the filling was delicious. - Mi la cay (dry noodle): it had loads of meat pieces (shrimp, squid, chicken). The noodle was perfectly cooked and chewy. The bean sprout and crispy onion on top gave nice crunch to the dish. However, the dish lacked of flavor.

We have really enjoy Pho here! The vegetables wraps and tacos where delicious but the won ton soup did not hit the spot. The gelato is home made and so so good! There are many flavors to choose from and my personal favorite is the black berry:)
