Congdon's Doughnuts is a family-owned establishment that has been serving delicious breakfast and fresh doughnuts since 1955. Their menu features a variety of mouthwatering flavors, including apple fritters, maple bacon fritters, chocolate twists, Bavarian creme, and honey dip. In addition to their delectable pastries, they also offer breakfast fare and brunch cocktails.
THE BEST DONUTS!!! Worth the hype. Truly loved with filling, especially the chocolate, maple and powder filled donuts. So so so good. Long line but moves quick! Friendly service. Reasonable prices. The dough is incredible too. Worth the hype. Even got dog donuts!! Went to the food trucks at Congdon’s after dark as well and had the best chicken wrap with live music. 10/10 recommend

Ordered online the evening before for 0700 pick up. Arrived and walked past the line inside to the pick up counter. Employee searched for order but could not find them on the shelf. She ended up just grabbing a box and getting the donuts for me. Not a very efficient system in my opinion. The fritters (blueberry and maple bacon) were both good. The raspberry filled donut was a bit disappointing. Not much jelly inside, and it seemed more compote like than actual. The actual donut itself was really good. I think next time I would skip the fancier donuts and go with the basics. Actually stopped back by 10 minutes before they closed because it was so busy in the morning I didn’t actually get to see the donuts and other pastry options. My order from the morning was sitting on the shelf all by itself. I did inform the employee that they had already been picked up earlier that morning.

We used the drive through. We got an orange cranberry scone, blueberry fritter and a maple square( this was the most decadent maple thing we have ever eaten! The biscuit sandwich and a bagel with egg, bacon and cheese. All of it was amazingly delicious!!! Way more than expected! Best breakfast sandwiches we have ever had in fact! Thank you for the deliciousness!
Trish O — Google review
I always review things based on the price I pay! At $2.79 per donut and $34 for a bakers dozen (13), they needed to be close to perfect. Donuts (raised and filled) were standard, nothing to be too excited about, but the fritters were excellent (they were sold out of their signature donut, the blueberry fritter, when I ordered at 10:30 AM so I can’t speak to that). Apple was fantastic. There’s also a nice shaded seating area to enjoy. They had a sweet employee who came by to offer complimentary donut holes. Overall I’d recommend it but if you’re more cost conscious you might not think so.

I still am thinking about these donuts a week later. Almost convinced my husband to stop off the highway on our ride back to NYC from Portland just to pick up these donuts. Best donut I’ve ever had. My husband arrived around 8AM on a Saturday morning and waited in line for about 30 minutes. Go early!! Favorite donut was the white cream chocolate frosted. Homemade and delicious, fresh — highly recommend.

This doughnut spot doesn’t look like too much from the street, but delivers some of the best doughnuts 🍩 in New England. I always come here for a treat! Don’t let the lines keep you from eating here. They move fast! Enjoy and your welcome 🤗
Keith M — Google review
Big fans of these donuts! We’re from out of town, and this unassuming shop blew us away. Very fast, even though there was a line when we got there. And the rise on the yeast donuts was incredible—I ate mine before I could get a photo!

The fritters are mouth watering! We were visiting from NJ and got the blueberry and maple bacon fritters. Never had anything like them in my life! Will definitely be back for more on our next trip to Maine.

Steak house
Restaurant
The Steakhouse, located at 205 Post Rd in Wells, is a long-standing favorite for traditional steak dinners and surf 'n' turf options. Despite past concerns about long waits and a noisy atmosphere, recent visitors have found it to be a great choice for satisfying carnivorous cravings.
Well worth the wait. We waited about 90 minutes on a Saturday night but grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The food was really good I got 2 of the crab stuffed lobster tails which were incredible and a great price. I also recommend the white sangria as you wait!
Miranda D — Google review
I once read a review of a Manhattan restaurant where the reviewer said it was too loud. The owner said if you want a quiet place to eat go to Maine. He obviously wasn’t referring to The Steakhouse. The decibel level in this place would rival the old Boston Garden. It’s just awful, especially if you have some drunken hillbillies sitting near you. This restaurant is popular for sure. The food, we had two petite filets, is fine but nothing to write home about. The service is very good but the servers are so busy you feel rushed just ordering your meal. I know you can’t eat atmosphere but the noise level is so high it gave me ajita just sitting there. Would never go back. More like eating in a steak factory.
J W — Google review
We were looking forward to a delicious steak dinner. The wife's tenderloin with stuffed lobster tail was cooked as ordered, and she enjoyed her meal. Unfortunately, my dinner was very disappointing. I started with a cup of beef barley soup, and it was delicious. It was the best beef barley soup I have ever eaten! I then ordered a 14 oz ribeye steak (MEDIUM) with broiled scallops, beans, and house potato. When our server put my plate in front of me, my wife and I both looked at each other and said how thin the ribeye was, and we both said I bet it is well done. We were right. The ribeye was well done, as you can see into the picture. I ordered it medium. When our server, who was excellent, I showed her my well-done ribeye. She transferred the ribeye to another plate to take to the kitchen and have a new one cooked. While waiting for the new steak, I ate my beans, which were excellent! My broiled scallops were overdone and a bit chewy. My new ribeye arrived, and it was much thicker than the previous one and was a good-looking cut. Unfortunately, it was cooked rare. I ordered my ribeye medium. Our server came back and said she would have them cook it some more. At this point, I said to the server that I did not want it cooked more. I said they had 2 opportunities to get it right, and I did not want to continue to wait, and my wife had finished eating her meal for quite some time now. Our server said she would have the ribeye removed from our bill. We decided to try the blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was not very good and I would not recommend it. In closing, our server Tristan was excellent, my wife's meal was excellent, the beef barley soup and baked beans also excellent. Unfortunately, with 2 opportunities, my ribeye was not cooked to the right temp either time. Ordered medium, first try was well done, second try was rare. I expected better temping from a Steakhouse. Even though my ribeye was taken off the bill after trying to get it cooked medium twice and not cooked to right temp twice, I left only eating my side dishes. Very disappointed.

Pretty expensive but "when you want to be good to yourself," give The Steakhouse a shot! The venue itself is pretty nice. We ended up with about a 40 minute wait but they had a bar upstairs and a waiting area so you could enjoy some drinks while you wait, which is a great idea for patrons AND for the restaurant to make money. One of the bartenders has worked there more than TWENTY years, and she's great at what she does. We were able to try out various cocktails like the Rhubarb Refresher, Painkiller, and Pink Drink, all of which were pretty damn good and not too cloyingly sweet. Everything we had was pretty darn good here! Enjoyed the appetizers and entrees... everything had so much flavor! We had mussels, French onion soup, filet mignon, the signature Wagyu cut, sirloin, scallops, boneless wings (surprisingly good even plain, as they actually did something with the batter I can't put my finger on), applesauce (not normal, it was more of a cobbler filling which was great!), creme brulee, and chocolate and peanut butter pie! Strangely enough, small gripe, but the Wagyu cut was not as seasoned as the filet mignon which I found weird, but it was still an enjoyable, juicy steak. It is a bit loud and crowded in here but that's to be expected. Lots of older folks of affluence. Staff was excellent and super friendly! Definitely worth the splurge at least once!

We picked this restaurant for the lobster dinner and they did not disappoint! There was a wait time for our group of 9, but they had a nice waiting area set up for people. The food was delicious, and our waiter was top tier!!
JoAngela V — Google review
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner here. Throughout our time on our three week vacation, this was the best meal that we had, we both agreed! We were pretty indecisive on where we wanted to eat, as "The Lost Fire" restaurant was also a place we wanted to stop. We settled on The Steakhouse instead. Definitely was a great pick. As soon as we pulled up, being a Thursday, the parking lot was pretty full with only a couple spots open. For me, a good sign that the food won't disappoint! The Steakhouse was a barn at one point which makes it a three story building!! When you get the menu, there's a brief history of how this restaurant came to be and why it's in a Barn. Trust me, it's a pretty nice barn inside!! Lots of character. Of course, it being a steakhouse that's what I ordered. That being a 24 oz Ribeye (Which was the chefs cut for the day) along with onion, peppers and mushrooms. My sides were rice pilaf and pasta with meat sauce. My wife got a surf and turf. Petite filet with lazy lobster. And she loved both of them. Her side being Cottage Cheese with a pear and BBQ baked beans. She really loved the beans!!! Oh boy. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the French Onion Soup that I had ordered before my steak but that too was very delicious. The steaks, in my opinion, we're of great quality! Because of this, they were not salted too much but I think just enough to allow all that great, natural, beefy flavor! Very impressed. Thank you very much to "The Steakhouse" for a wonderful evening for my wife and I.
Antonio R — Google review
I enjoy the food here but beware of the lobster stew scam. At over $10 for a cup, you would expect a full pour. This is how my “cup” of stew came out to my table. I immediately asked the waiter about it and he claimed he would discuss with the manager. He never did discuss with the manager so I asked the manager myself about it and she was flippant. I am a regular but feel slighted after this visit. I understand premium pricing but fill the damn cup!
Brian K — Google review
It was an experience. Everything was incredible. The steak was tender and melts in your mouth. The seafood is cooked perfectly and is delicious. Go early, a line does form and can take a few minutes to get in.

Joshua's is a charming restaurant located in a Revolutionary War-period home, offering farm-to-table American cuisine. The cozy and classy atmosphere sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Guests rave about the delicious dishes, including duck, chicken, and homemade organic bread. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall appeal of this exquisite establishment. With an outdoor tent providing an elegant and romantic setting during warm evenings, Joshua's ensures a memorable dining experience with its delicious food and impeccable service.
This was such an incredible discovery. The atmosphere is so classy and cozy. Every dish was out of this world. We had the duck and chicken dishes followed by crème brûlée and key lime pie and a couple of pomegranate cosmos. Just spectacular, every dish. They have their own homemade organic bread. And if that wasn’t good enough, the service was simply the best. You can not go wrong visiting this exquisite establishment. A definite must. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our server was so much fun and personable, fun to talk and laugh with. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and able to help when we needed. The food was exceptionally fresh and light, so we ate hearty portions and never felt stuffed by any means. Truly appreciate the experience and cannot wait to return. Oh my Gatos, get the house pistachio ice cream!

The Best of the Best. We visited Joshua's for the first time on July 28th during Covid-19. It was a hot evening, but their outside tent was perfect. Carpeting on the floor, lights, flowers, mosquito netting, and fans made the space elegant and romantic. The tables were spaced out so it felt very private. The waitress, Savannah, was outstanding...professional, friendly and efficient. Cocktails were served and then our food began to arrive. From the incredible bread basket to the appetizers of chicken skewers and the most amazing tomato salad with buratta and their own farm fresh tomatoes, we knew we were in the right place. We had the lamb and salmon for entrees and both were presented and cooked to perfection. The flavors were exquisite. We finished the meal with creme brulee and homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream in which you could taste the fresh mint used to make it. Joshua's was truly one of the best meals we had ever eaten and will definitely be a must to do when in Wells, Maine. This is a special place.

Joshua's is the best restaurant we've eaten at in Maine. We try to get there twice during our short visit each spring. I order the fish special; my husband gets a meat dish. Both are always delicious. Tonight, we added salad and dessert. Wait staff were, as always, friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself takes you back to a time when things were made to last and quality in everything mattered. Thank you, Joshua's!! 10. 28.20 Came back for more! Everything as superb as ever - and in a socially distant environment. Perfection. 5.26.21 Eating at Joshua's really makes our vacation. I called a week in advance to get reservations for two nights. I had salmon and haddock; my husband had the filet and rack of lamb. Salad and mushrooms before the entres, and the first night, we treated ourselves to the key lime pie for dessert. The wait staff, as always, was delightful. I will dream about these meals until we return next year. Totally divine - every last morsel! Thank you, Joshua's! 10.21.21 Yes, we happily returned to Wells and Joshua's. Tonight, my husband had the filet and I had the salmon. Aren't they stunning? I had to restrain myself long enough to take photos before diving in. Unfortunately, neither one of us had that discipline when the Caesar salad and shrimp appetizer arrived. Everything, right up to the keylime pie and coffee, was once again out of this world. Thank you, Lily, for your great service and wonderful memory!!
Patti C — Google review
Great place to come and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. My wife and I split the pork tenderloin which was superb with really good flavors. She had a really good Arugula salad and I had the caesar salad. The broccoli soup was excellent. Service was excellent as well.... our waitress was very attentive. Thank you for making it a great experience! We will definitely go back again. Hey if this info helped you in any way please like for me. God Bless!

One of the best restaurants in York county. Always consistent. Organic vegetables grown on premise. Great menu and cocktails. Delicious food and good portions. Highly recommend.
Matthew V — Google review
An outstanding American bistro featuring locally sourced ingredients. We make it a point to eat there once every time we visit the area. The dishes are consistently excellent, imaginitive and well executed. They also have a solid wine list.
Christopher C — Google review
My wife and I had an exemplary dining experience last evening at Joshua's. Due to a shortage of staff, the restaurant is operating at less than half capacity. We were lucky to be able to score a reservation when we called more than two weeks ago. We were warmly greeted at the door by one of the owners. Heather, our server, was exceptional and added much to the pleasure of the experience. She was attentive and efficient without being overbearing. Her smile was infectious. Heather was very knowledgeable about the menu items and about the restaurant itself, offering us interesting tidbits of information over the course of the evening. Oh yes, the food!! Gormet and exceptional do not adequately describe the delicious appetizer and entrees. My wife savored the Vegetarian, while I relished the delectable Swordfish dish. The fresh vegetable medley could have been an entree in itself! The restaurant is not inexpensive, but it's a treat well worth the cost.

Shopping mall
The Wells Corner Shopping Center is a pleasant and compact local grocery store, albeit with slightly higher prices. However, this is compensated by the absence of state tax, which makes it an appealing option for residents from New Hampshire. The store boasts a friendly staff and an extensive selection of beer and spirits. Their hot lunch offering at $5.99 is truly unmatched, serving homemade food in generous portions. This establishment is particularly favored for its Dairy Queen treats and Mexican cuisine.
Nice staff. Quaint little place.

We only visited Dairy Queen. Tight parking lot. IPA grocery store, a Mexican restaurant and Dairy Queen are what I remember. No outside trash cans or tables.

Movie theater
Flagship Premium Cinemas in Wells offers a top-notch movie experience with stadium seating and rewards for frequent visitors. The cinema provides super comfortable accommodations, including power recliners that can be reserved in advance. It showcases first-run movies and rotating films using high-quality digital projection technology and surround sound. Guests can also enjoy drinks, snacks, wine, or beer from the concession stand or on-site bar.
Clean, great staff, nice selection of movies and concessions! Pricey, like all cinemas with recliners, but we enjoyed our afternoon there.
Elizabeth Z — Google review
Attended a matinee on 9/13/25. Good: comfy chairs; theater was clean/tidy. Bad: movie previews WAY TOO LOUD!!! Complained to the girls behind the counter and was told there’s nothing they can do about it. Shocking how loud it was, I had to cover my ears with my hands, as did the person I was with. The movie itself was fine.
KportBroker — Google review
Clean, good sized theaters with fair pricing on concessions and tickets, as well as helpful staff.

While small, this movie theater has great prices and comfy chairs. Great place to go when you need a break from the beach.
Joseph B — Google review
The strip mall that it's located in is not the best. The actual theater itself is pretty clean. Seats are great! Definitely still has a older style screen in sound system but the recliners are some of the better that I've seen in theaters and I like how they have the layout of the theater
Matt ( — Google review
Comfortable seating and cozy theater to see Part 3 of Downton Abbey movie!
Cheryl L — Google review
I haven't been in a theater in several years and what a welcome and pleasant surprise this place was. I was expecting the old small seats all crammed together with little leg room, not too unlike economy airline seats. The seats are extremely comfortable, and adjustable with power controls- wow! And plenty of room on each side and in front as well. The theater was very clean, small with maybe 100 seats, so the screen was a great view for any one of them. The sound wasn't deafening like some I've been to. Concession was fully stocked and average prices for popcorn, drinks, etc. Good parking outside for everyone, and easily handicapped accessible.
Pmw — Google review
I like this clean and comfortable theater and am happy it’s open year round in this area, but they seriously need to figure out their sound and brightness levels. I often have to strain to hear and see the movies. Some of the lowest volume I’ve ever experienced in a movie theater, and the picture is dimmer than in other theaters. I don’t want this place to go away but I think they gotta turn it up.

Miniature golf course
Wonder Mountain Fun Park is a popular amusement park located just minutes from Wells in Moody. It offers a variety of family-friendly attractions, including two 18-hole mini-golf courses with water features and caverns, a giant maze, go-karts, and an indoor arcade with numerous games. The go-karts provide an exhilarating experience as they are electric and noiseless but still fast. Families can enjoy the thrill of racing on the go-karts or embark on a treasure hunt in the maze.
Cool place, with so much to do! The mini golf course was challenging and fun, many of the holes had an optional game where you spin for an additional possible challenge on that hole (putt behind your back, etc…) it made for a really fun game. You can buy a package and also do the maze and go karts, we did all the three and had a blast. There’s a pretty large arcade room inside with clean bathrooms and outside has a rock mining machine where you can sift through sand and water to get some beautiful rocks.

Took a ride on the super fun go carts. They are quite fast and had a long-lasting ride. Lots of wind blown hair and laughs. Finished with a round of mini golf on one of 2 very nice, beautifully landscaped and well maintained courses. The arcade looked well stocked with modern machines but did not play any. You can tell the pride of private ownership in this facility. Highly recommend!

We looked around the arcade room, and watched kids on the go cart track (looked like the kids had fun)... We however, played mini golf on both of the 18 holes courses multiple times during our stay in Wells. This was the nicest part of our vacation.

Giving 4 stars only because not all attractions were open to us to experience. However what we did experience was charming. A fun stop for kids of all ages!

Two 18-hole mini golf courses wrapped around an artificial mountain with a cave and waterfalls, pretty cool. Outdoor maze, they rearrange the walls every month or two so you might not get the same route next time. Go-kart track. And you can buy bags of dirt for a chance to find a gemstone once you soft it through their outdoor sieves. Supposedly there is also an indoor arcade but it was closed when we went there for the last weekend of the season. They close in mid October, reopen sometime in the Spring.

We booked online for 7 of us, including 3 adults, 2 seniors, one junior and a toddler along with a cabana near the wave pool. We were initially very disappointed that the wave pool was closed, we were told because of a pipe break that occurred a week ago, and no notice of it being closed was posted on their website and we were really looking forward to that feature. Nonetheless, we went down a bunch of slides and went around the Lazy River several times. The lines were reasonably short so we got to go as many times as we wanted. We ordered food while in the cabana and we were very glad we booked it because one of us was able to bring the toddler there for a nap and we had privacy to change and eat our food in comfort and peace. All in all a very positive experience.

I love this place! They truly have 10,000 things to look at. I usually buy a sweatshirt or t-shirt from here since they always have something I like. I love the choices in mugs and stickers and key chains. The also have many unique items you won't really find elsewhere, which is an adventure to me! In addition to all of that, they have beautiful jewelry, both inexpensive and expensive. Lots to enjoy, here! I go every year and I'll be back next year as well! Such a fine selection of "quality" items you will be astounded! I bought a hand carved Seagull for my beach collection. Excellent price points as well. Friendly owners and my item was expertly wrapped for travel. I cannot say enough nice things about my experience here. Amazing hand made items and hard to find keepsakes along with clothing and assorted wall hangings. A must stop on your trip up rte 1. Family owned since 1952 by the Clark Family. So grateful for the stickers and fine crafts to add to my collection

I have been going to this store since I was about 5 yrs old....47 years ago. It was the store we would BEG our grandparents to take us to. We would walk in needing absolutely nothing yet leaving with everything we suddenly needed! My grandparents are gone now....but the memories will always be there. And yes....I STILL go here when ever I can! Taking my husband and our 6yr old son for their very first time in a week! Can't wait to see their faces!

Mexican restaurant
Las Olas Taqueria is a no-frills eatery that offers a range of familiar Mexican street eats within a vibrant and colorful setting. The establishment distinguishes itself by being locally owned, which sets it apart from chain restaurants. The friendly and efficient staff handle orders with politeness and speed. The food served is of high quality, with generous portions that are both delicious and satisfying. Additionally, the restaurant provides the rare treat of offering Moxie as a beverage option.
Chipotle style mexican, assembly line fashion. Excellent unique quesadilla's what I usually order. They put it on the bottom and cover it with rice, beans, meat, salsa, lettuce, lime, sour cream, and cilantro. The top eats like a salad, and then you can roll up the quesadilla and eat it with the toppings! It's delicious! The tacos and taco salads are great, too. Tons of salsas and dressings to try. Usually, do Pico (mild) and hot salsa, and sometimes try the others. Gf loves the soyrizo with mushrooms and sweet potato. (Vegitarian) My only complaints are their hours. They close at 8pm even in the summer (before the sun sets), which doesn't make sense to me. As I'm finishing my summer activities around 8pm and by 8:30 it is closed. During the off season 8pm works fine.

Mine was fantastic I loved it. My husband's tasted like something was spoiled in it we ended throwing it away. I ordered the pork tacos with the pineapple salsa I recommended it. He ordered the steak bowl. And it didn't taste good it had a spoiled taste. The service was great.

The food here is fabulous! Every time we visit the Wells/Ogunquit area this is our go to Mexican fast food place. Everything is fresh and flavorful. I get crunchy tacos and my husband gets a bowl. The taco shells are made right there and fried to perfection. Very crispy and not super thick. Similar set up as other places where you order and move down the line for fillings and toppings. They also have a wide array of sauces ranging from mild to very hot with interesting flavor notes. Prices are reasonable and staff is pleasant and efficient.

Quaint little eatery in an unasuming shopping center. Food was excellent, staff was friendly, prices reasonable, and there was plenty of dining space inside if you wish to take a load off for a break. I got the beef nachos, beef taco, steak taco, and a pork taco. Nachos were larger than I was expecting, but all the food was excellent! Would recommend to a friend!
James V — Google review
This is definitely fast mexican but in the best way possible. They food is fantastic. They actually care about food allergies, and I feel perfectly safe to eat this with a severe gluten allergy. Some of the tables are dirty, and it feels like a fast food restaurant.

We did catering for a grad party. Our experience was wonderful from start to finish. When we picked up the food, they helped us to our car and explained all the containers and were super helpful. We were very happy with everything they provide. Great Value. We will use them again!

A great spot for a Mexican food fix and a frequent lunch stop for me. I haven't tried anything here that I didnt like. I'm currently on a chicken burrito bowl kick! Everything is quickly made to order and served with friendly smiles.
Patricia B — Google review
Been 20 times but this is our first review. Solid local options for Mexican and Tex Mex. Best part: you can get served in 8 minutes. Counter order, walk up like Chipotle. Part of a three location business. Wide open dining room for a small group or larger parties. Colorful environment and decor. Not a full bar, but do have beer and canned drink options. Service was pretty good on our last visit. Usually more dialed in but we think they were training new people. Reasonable prices too. Worth a visit.

Irish pub
Féile Restaurant and Pub is a charming old tavern that offers a family-friendly atmosphere and a menu featuring both American and Irish cuisine. The name "Féile" translates to generous hospitality in Gaelic, reflecting the establishment's commitment to creating a welcoming environment. The owner's roots in Murroe County, Limerick bring an authentic Irish touch to the pub. The menu showcases traditional Irish dishes like Bangers and Mash alongside Maine favorites such as Baked Stuffed Haddock.
It was such a good time. Even understaffed, our waitress was attentive. The strawberry peach sangria was delicious, and our meal choices were not only yummy but plentiful. I'd come back anytime & hopefully make it for happy hour. Bring a signed dollar bill to add on their walls as many others continue to do.
Brian C — Google review
Great place to chat up the locals. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was sub-par. We enjoyed the homemade nachos quite a bit, but the bangers were apparently very plain, and my shepard's pie was very oily. For this price, I was expecting better than ground beef with some frozen vegetables and instant potatoes. Not bad, really, but there are great places up and down the street.

We stopped in for late lunch, atmosphere was fun and wait staff was courteous. Because i am very fussy due to my allergies, i am very specific before i place my order. We ordered the infusion burgers and i assumed as indicated in menu the bacon and cheese was inside the burger. I even specifically asked the waitress if the cheese and bacon were inside. I inadvertantly ordered bacon as the waitress was confusing. Anyway i ordered my burger and was specific i didnt want it burned, the bacon nor the bun. The bacon was dry and burned, i would have let it go but the bun was black. I sent it back. When it came back i got cold precooked burned bacon, fine the bun was better but the burger appeared to be missing the cheese, i know it said infusion but seriously nothing, so disappointed, wont go back again.

We attended Trivia night on Thursday. The host was great and the game was a lot of fun. The staff were fantastic, very nice, and also very organized for such a large crowd. I appreciated them very much. The food was SO GOOD. I had the seafood mac and cheese and it’s the best variation I’ve ever had. Each scallop was perfectly seared. On busy nights, call in advance to reserve your table.

The wings were not cooked enough me, I don't like it pink inside. The hot is very hot and the others looked pretty good. We went on wings nite $1. Each.. minimum of 10.each. you can mix the different flavors 5 and 5.

Had a fun night out here. The live band was playing the hits. Would like to return for a full meal. The food of the other customers looked like traditional Irish pub comfort food .

This is a great place to go to listen to Karaoke and have fun with friends! The drinks were decent, the food better than most pubs and I love the dollar bill decor from past customers. So fun!!
Cheryl L — Google review
I was in a small group that went to listen to a band in the pub and have dinner. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We each had a different dinner, we all agree that was very nice. The food was very fresh and came out steaming hot. We all agreed we would be going back again. There was also room to dance which was an added bonus. The pictures below are blueberry martini, shepherd's pie, nachos, infused burger with sweet potato fries, and a fish dish.

Pizza restaurant
Pizza Market Wells is a casual establishment that offers a variety of food options including classic pies, breadsticks, wings, salads, and Italian subs. The interior of the restaurant is simple and unpretentious. Customers have the option to order online and pick up their orders. The seating area is spacious and comfortable. The buffalo wings are above average in quality while the pizza stands out as particularly delicious.
Been meaning to try this place during past visits, finally got around to it this time. Ordered on-line and picked up the order so I check the interior. Kind of nice and roomy with a large sitting area. The buffalo wings were above average, but the pizza was really good. A hawaiian with BBQ chicken. Never had one before, looking forward to trying more of the menu.

I purchased over $50 worth of food from The Town Pizza in Wells, ME, including a large bacon pizza, large mozzarella sticks, large fries, and a large chicken parm. The food was inedible—the pizza smelled like alcohol, the mozzarella sticks tasted like fish, and the toppings slid off the pizza completely due to it being soggy and poorly made. It was disgusting. The only item that was partially consumed was the fries. I returned to the restaurant very calmly and professionally, simply hoping to explain the situation. I wasn’t rude or demanding—I just wanted to be heard. Instead, the staff were completely dismissive, interrupted me, and refused to acknowledge the issue. I was told “Have a nice day” and “We don’t do refunds.” This is unacceptable customer service and a potential public health concern. I believe this business should not be operating under these conditions. I request a full refund and expect the matter to be taken seriously. A report to the BBB will be finalized tomorrow and to the Maine Health Department for an emergency inspection due to the facility reeks of cigarette smoke when you walk in, suggesting possible violations of food safety and cleanliness standards. I am concerned about the safety and hygiene of this establishment, especially considering children and families are being served.

We were staying not far from the plazza and ordered 2 large pizzas take-out from Pizza Market. A pepperoni and mediterranean Excellent pizza, fresh dough, ingredient's and good crust! After trying another place down the road with an Italian name our last stay that was a big disappointment the Pizza Market will be our goto place! My granddaughter wanted to carry them to the car pizzas are huge! The 2 were enough for more than one meal for the 4 of us with plenty left over. Note: Just seeing the poor review for ‘The Town Pizza’ posted here that was dreadfully confused with this business which is Pizza Market. Horrible that person hasn’t removed that review!

So far so good. I wanted to give this place another try after having sub par pizza at this location 12+ years ago and never wanting to go back. The interior was completely redone, new friendly guy and the pizza was one of the best I had.

These pizzas are so flippin' good I can't get enough. I love pizza and can be pretty critical but these pies are so consistently delicious and well-made I can't find anything bad to say about them. The portions are huge, the ingredients taste fresh and the prices are great - can't get enough!

My wife and I stopped in after seacoast pizza was closed, ordered a large pepperoni and mozzarella sticks.. the pizza was aweful, greasy, and had a sweetness level that was unacceptable. The mozzarella sticks were just a sad display of dry cheese and bad batter.. I have had better out of my microwave and I didn't have to spend $35.. just aweful

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in a relaxed atmosphere, The New England House Seafood & Sports Bar is the perfect destination for seafood lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. This inviting local gem offers an array of fresh, wild-caught seafood specials like clams and shrimp, all while you enjoy your favorite games on multiple TVs. Whether you choose to unwind at the outdoor bar and patio or opt for the cozy indoor seating, you're guaranteed a delightful experience.
I went here for the first time over the weekend. My waitress was so friendly and gave her honest opinion when I asked her to choose between two items I was interested in. The lobster was tender and juicy, onion rings were sweet, I should have tried the baked beans vs the pasta salad, though. Drink was great - I love tropical themed libations when it is freezing outside! There was a roaring fire, smelled great! Local haunt, lots of people watching sports at the bar. Next time I will try the steak tips! Kid-friendly, which was nice to see.

"Fish and chips" was pretty good and a large portion. Chips were a touch over-cooked but tasty nonetheless. Staff were fabulous. Quite busy at 6pm and predominantly locals this time of year. Bar counter space to sit if solo or casual. There's a take-out counter too. Wide menu for all interests. Big screen sports Tvs. Plenty of parking and an overflow lot available nearby. Right off route 1 as you enter Wells.

That was *not great*. It felt like this was the first day the restaurant has ever been open. Host futzed around with the table plan for several minutes before even acknowledging our party. Despite that, we got seated pretty quickly. The waitress took our order in good time but messed it up... Twice... Failed to check back in during the meal, then when we finally got her to give us the cheque we were so ready to go that we wound up going to find her so we could pay and leave. The food was also not so great. The seafood was just 'meh,' and my lobster had such a massive amount of minced garlic all over it that I couldn't taste the lobster or sherry/drawn butter sauce. Disappointing flavor but a solid portion of meat. Unfortunately this is a definite 'no' for me. I'll battle the crowds next time for more flavorful food and better service.

This is a 10/10 place. Starting with the atmosphere this is a pretty nice place! Kept clean and its relatively big. Everyone always sounds like they are having a great time, staff included. The service here is amazing as well. A person in my party of four has a bunch of allergies, and they accommodated to it very well! (Dairy allergy, gluten allergy, bacon allergy.). Lastly, the food. I got the regular burger here and it was amazing, the fries are very good to and they aren't even seasoned that much! I highly recommend this place!!

Got the lobster pasta special which was an Alfredo with linguine noodles and it was fantastic! Husband got ribs and they were fall off the bone delicious, moist, and tender. Mom got the maple bourbon steak sandwich special and we all give this place a 5 star rating! We only visit once a year but safe to say we will be coming back next year!!
Brenna F — Google review
Extremely disappointed. We’ve vacationed here for a few years now, and this was - by far - the most disheartening dining experience we’ve had in the Wells area. We were out all day and decided to stay in and order a few appetizers to share for dinner. We ordered the Mexican dip, crab quesadilla, and mozzarella sticks. When my husband handed me the takeout bag, I thought it felt a little light. But I wasn’t officially discouraged until I checked out the teeny-tiny quesadilla ($22), the half-full cup of dip with barely enough chips to fill a cereal bowl ($11), and six anemic mozzarella sticks ($10). I honestly think I could’ve gotten more robust mozzarella sticks at Trader Joe’s. And for much less. The items tasted all right - but just all right. For the extremely small portions and the gourmet prices, I expected much more for quality. All in all, we won’t be returning. In case it matters, I tipped around 20% for a total check of over $50.

I had to take down my awesome review from a couple years ago … I used to go here once a week for take-out. What happened to this place? You used to have the best steak n cheese in town. Now it’s just OK. Please for the love of god bring the old steak n cheese recipe back, and this review will disappear. And don’t tell me you didn’t change it, because you did. It’s lacking the seasoning and the taste it used to have. I know you have new ownership and management but talk about not reading the room. Many of your customers are older folks who are either locals or live in the surrounding campgrounds during the summer. Making changes is only good if it’s profitable…. Where did all the business go? Usually during the summer (especially on the weekends) when I go to pick up food, I can never find a parking spot. Now it seems you don’t have that problem. I’m sorry I had to leave a review like this, but somebody had to say it.
Zeff T — Google review
Probably unpopular opinion but its mid at best , had patty melt cooked perfect bit messy 3/5 . Reuben same cooked perfect very tender , too loose /messy 3/5 . Now the chicken tenders are not worth the hype , chix was good quality just no real flavor, portion size was good . waited a good 15 min after being seated to be served , there was good attempt to recover from the host stand , all of the servers seemed confused all over the place , probably better for locals ,but as a tourist i would just pass by Weather Vane is better by far for the same price point , 3/5 overall

Day 2

For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The refuge offers hiking trails through diverse ecosystems, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts to observe wildlife in their natural habitats.
This was a great place to stretch your legs and see nature. The path was clear and some was boardwalk. The fall is a beautiful time to go. We went the full loop and took us less than an hour. Flat, easy walk. And did you know Rachel Carson is on a 17cent US postage stamp?

4.20.25 This is a very easy walking trail that's great for small children and older folks. You can't get lost as you follow the enclosed walking path. The views are very pretty. Sneakers are perfect for this stroll. There are bathrooms on the premises. That is, 2 rooms with toilets, no sinks. Parking is tight on busy days.

Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to enjoy scenic views, hiking, wildlife, and the outdoors. It was established in 1966 to protect salt marshes and estuaries for migratory birds. There is a visitor center and a hiking trail here for all to enjoy for fee. The Carson trail is an easy one-mile hike with 11 interpretive sites. The trail is mostly flat, is wide, and is easy to follow. It's pretty much good for everyone. Along the route you will enjoy scenic views of the surrounding area. It's a very beautiful spot. There is a small visitor center here as well. It offers a few displays and panels about the life of environmentalist Rachel Carson. An expanded visitor center with interactive displays would be a great idea for this spot. Rachel Carson did a lot to improve the environment and there should more information presented about her life here. Take some time to enjoy this beautiful wildlife refuge.

Really lovely and easy walking path. It's well maintained and a good distance and makes a full loop. There are some facilities near the parking lot. We were here in June and we're able to get a decent amount of birding in. The back half of the Interpretive Trail has a nice viewing area that's worth sitting and watching for a bit.
April N — Google review
It’s a great walking spot with well defined trail and scenic overlooks. It’s also an easy trail and maybe wheelchair accessible also. I can’t say for sure but the trail is wide and is not rocky. If you are looking for a quick trail with nice scenery this is the perfect spot.

Outstanding area of natural beauty with well-maintained trails. The beach area was worth skipping, as the nice sandy area is private land, but the woodland walks were great and there was plenty of wildlife to see. Antique store
I have frequented Bo-Mar Hall since I was a young child. My father, an avid antique collector, still has a strong affinity for this establishment. Even now, as I bring my daughter along, it feels just as it did 30 years ago. The variety of merchandise is ever-changing, and the prices are typically fair. The thrill of stumbling upon that one sought-after collectible or hidden gem adds to the allure of visiting Bo-Mar.
Seeing all the antique stuff like pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns and my favorite holiday season is Halloween!!

I've been to this place many a time with my boyfriend. This is a multi-vendor store with everything from antiques, candles, trading cards, dvds, books, artwork, and more. You never know what you might find so it is hit or miss. We have encountered some unpleasant staff in the past, but also some great ones as well. Definitely worth a stop in to browse around.

Beautiful area to kayak, hike, sunbathe, and get a meal at one of the restaurants on this peninsula. There is a dog and kid friendly beach on the marsh as well as small boardwalk, a playground, charcoal grills and open roofed areas and pick nick tables. It would be a great location for a child's birthday party. They do host community events on the stage and in the gazebo. I attended a native american pow wow there once. We visit often when our dog.

Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve

4.8
(307)
Nature preserve
The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve in Maine covers 2,250 acres and includes the Webhannet River, Little River, and Ogunquit River estuaries. It boasts diverse landscapes such as salt marshes, beaches, wetlands, grasslands, and dense foliage. Visitors can explore historic 19th-century farm buildings that now house an auditorium, library, visitors center with exhibits, and research labs.
Great to view a range of marsh-dwelling birds such as Heron, Snowy and Great Egret, Plovers, and also see Harriers, Kingfishers and if very lucky a local Eagle.

Great for sight seeing, photography, running, walking, even a little hidden beach!

Beautiful path to the beach. Or if you want more than just beach views there are plenty of other trails around. A nice walk in the woods turns into a meadow filled with a good amount of butterflies and bees. No other place in southern Maine like it. I'm so grateful for it's preservation for everyone to enjoy.

This was great! This was one of my favorite places. We walked and explored each morning we were there. Saw different things each day. The beach was small and rocky but it was also interesting and beautiful. Off season is the time to venture here because it is probably so busy in the summer! Glad we got to see this amazing place. There is a lot to see.

Parking is $6 per adult and $1 for children. Try to bring exact change as sometimes they don’t have change to give. There are a few walking trails here. Be sure to bring big spray for the really wooded area. The straight beach path is not very buggy and is just a 10 min walk to the beach!

A great place to get out and enjoy nature. With a few trails to explore, including a nice walk along Drake's Island. The nature trails that take you into the woods are well marked and easy to follow but BEWARE OF TICKS. Make sure you check yourself during and after your walk. Plenty of great opportunities for bird watching along the trail as well as an abundance of chipmunks.

This is a very beautiful spot for a nature walk. It involves rocky coasts, woods, board walks and salt marshes. Lots of lovely birds to see.
Cathleen W — Google review
Nice well maintained trails that can bring you to a pretty secluded part of drake's island. There's bathrooms and parking is 6 bucks per person. The walk to the beach is about a half mile.

Seafood restaurant
Hobbs Harborside Restaurant is a laid-back eatery offering classic surf 'n' turf options and a full bar, with tables providing stunning harbor vistas. Located in Wells Harbor, this traditional New England seafood restaurant offers generous portions of Maine seafood dishes such as lobster, mussels, steak, chicken, chowder, fried clams, oysters, shrimp and haddock platters. The menu also includes broiled seafood dishes and steamed clams and lobsters.
From the moment we walked in we were greeted and sat very quickly. Our server took our drink and appetizer order promptly. We couldn't believe how fast our apps came out. They were so delicious! We ordered the Calamari, Scallops Wrapped in Bacon and Mozzarella Sticks. For our main entrees we ordered the seafood platter, baked haddock, chicken tenders and fries and a grilled cheese w/fries. Everything tasted great and we were all happy with our experience! We will definitely be back!

Great food and atmosphere. My only complaint would be the rice pilaf had a few crunchy, uncooked rice. Sadly it was raining intermittently this day but the view and colors were stunning. Our waiter, Marlin, was very professional and checked on us often. We recommend the calamari and lobster.

Nice place in a quiet spot. The place is huge with a nice outdoor deck overlooking the cove. I had the stuffed haddock with potatoes and broccoli and my wife had the onion rings and fried shrimp. Both cooked as requested. Service was fast and friendly. Not too busy on the day we were there but it was preseason, I would imagine it gets pretty busy during peak season.

The chicken cordon blue is melt in your melt amazing!!!!! It's my go to order! The drinks are definitely good and strong! Highly recommended thier hard blueberry lemonade. My fiance had the lobster machine and ch he absolutely ate it right up! We were told a 40 minute wait thankfully it was only 25 and we were able to enjoy a drink on the patio. But be prepared you will be paying for the drinks you have while on the patio before your pager goes off for your table! They were still seating parties at closing! They all did great!

Local spot on the water. Traditional, seasonal seafood restaurant fare and pricing - everything has been fresh and I’ve done dine-in and take-out a number of times. Good amount of parking. Best overall: fried fish sandwich (fresh good size, good roll), worst: salad with fried chicken breast (small chx, oil up too high when cooked, no flavor except oil and burned fry, bland salad/veg). Other items that worked well enough: fried mushrooms, burger, fisherman’s platter, wrap sandwich. Great sunset punch drink (1 bartender not as consistent as the others, always looks stressed out). Best thing about this place has been the service (averaged over visits). And that keeps the environment up, even while waiting the guests all seem happy, and pleasant to talk to. Gets busy, you’ll have a long wait potentially. View is lovely and they have live music. My advice: charter a fishing trip and come in for lunch or dinner when you get back to dock.
Christin D — Google review
The service was astounding. No one slows down here. My Scallops and Seafood Chowder were tasty. Chowder could have been thicker....more like soup, a little on the pricey side. But overall a good experience.
C M — Google review
We arrived at Hobbs at a peak time, and the wait was a little over an hour. The host was friendly and helpful, and when he took our information, he sent us out to the back patio to wait. Most restaurants just have you stand or sit around the entrance. Hobbs has a back patio where they have music, drinks, Adirondack chairs, and tables, and you can wait while enjoying cocktails or the atmosphere overlooking the harbor. We ended up chatting with locals and sipping martinis, so the wait flew by. When we were called in to our table, the host remembered we'd told him one of our party was a local and made a callback comment to that, which was appreciated. After we were seated, our server was kind, personable, and attentive. She came back around after a relatively short wait to tell us that she hadn't forgotten us but that they'd had an issue with the ovens they were working on getting resolved. That was a nice gesture she didn't have to make. We got crab-stuffed mushrooms, which were absolutely superb, for our appetizer. I got the lobster mac and cheese, which included a whole lobster's worth of claw meat in a stellar dish. Although we received our food 10 minutes before the restaurant was due to close, we didn't feel like we were being pushed out. The staff were amazing beginning to end. I've never found myself without a single complaint about a restaurant, no matter how minor, but for Hobbs I have only one: that I live 15 hours away from it. If you're visiting the Wells area and are looking for good, fresh seafood, Hobbs is by far the best place around, and it is well worth the wait (if you have one).
Hannah M — Google review
Everything was going great until there was a huge miscommunication regarding the lunch to dinner cut off, so what started as a leisurely layer lunch became a rushed dinner. The food was ok, the stuffed mushrooms was soaked in butter, the lobster artichoke dip was very good. Greek salad was fresh, whole belly clams were clean.

If you're looking for a delightful pizza experience, look no further than Home Town Pizza! Friday nights are perfect for indulging in their mouthwatering offerings. With a crisp crust and savory sauce topped with fresh ingredients, each bite is a treat. I recently enjoyed their Large Meatball and Mushroom Pizza cooked to perfection, and it was simply delicious! The owner runs the entire operation solo but manages to deliver consistently great service with a friendly demeanor.
🍕 FRIDAY NIGHT MEANS PIZZA NIGHT! 🍕 9/10 KILLER PIZZA!! CRISP CRUST, SAVORY SAUCE, FRESH TOPPINGS. Quality Pizza and GREAT PRICES! I ordered a Large Meatball and Mushroom Pizza (WELL DONE) This guy is running the ENTIRE house by himself!! Give him some credit!! He’s always been nice to me, and I have NEVER had an issue! You NEVER know what someone is going through! 🍕 9/10 VERY GOOD!! HOT AND FRESH! 🍕 YUM! I WILL CONTINUE TO ORDER FROM HERE!

No complaints! Toppings were fresh & tasty, pizza was delicious. Not from around here, so it seemed a little pricey, but probably within local norms. Got takeout but dine-in didn’t seem terribly appealing.

The only guy working here was quite rude, had a great deal of trouble answering questions and observing dietary restrictions. I asked for my sandwich without mayo and it seemed like there was more mayo on it than another sandwich that was ordered. My father asked if he could add onions to his sandwich and the guy here acted like she shot his mother. He becomes irritated at everything, you can’t even leave the restaurant with cans/bottles purchased there because he wants to claim the deposit on them, even tho he charges his customers a deposit fee. Just blown away by the lack of warmth or even politeness. The floor is dirty, crushed crumbs everywhere and moldy old items are smooshed into the floor. The only reason I think the tables were somewhat clean was because almost nobody eats here after reading the reviews. It’s a cheap but expect the service and food quality to match that.

Arrived at 6:35 pm Wed. May 7. Ordered small onions & peppers and a small sausage pizza. Wanted to add onion rings and fries but was told the fryers were turned off because they close in 25 minutes. Was going to leave but he said they could do the pizzas. I gave a $100 bill for the $34 tab but he did not have enough change. I found the correct change. The tip tray had $3 and change in it and I threw in $3 and change. Gives the appearance that I was the 2nd customer all day. My sausage pizza looked good and had generous amount of cheese. The sausage had a slightly odd after-taste. Don't know how to describe it. The pepper and onion was OK tasting but the pieces were quite large. One slice covered by a single slab of green pepper and another covered by a single slab of onion. The sole person there was not friendly, moderately curt. Really miss the old Wells House of Pizza that was across the street decades ago. PS: I read a few years of reviews. I'll never go back.

A report to the BBB was finalized today and to the Maine Health Department for an emergency inspection due to the facility reeks of cigarette smoke when you walk in, suggesting possible violations of food safety and cleanliness standards. I am concerned about the safety and hygiene of this establishment, especially considering children and families are being served.

If I could rate this place in the negatives, I would. Walking into this dump was like stepping into a dirty ashtray. The entire place reeked of cigarettes, like the staff literally chain-smokes right there in the kitchen while pretending to make food. If that’s what you want to call it. Because what came out of that kitchen wasn’t food—it was a biohazard. I ordered pizza and mozzarella sticks and ended up with a full-blown nightmare on a paper plate. The pizza smelled like straight alcohol—I don’t even know how that happens unless you’re storing dough in a liquor bottle. The crust was soggy, and the cheese slid right off like it was trying to escape this monstrosity. It was unrecognizable as pizza. I threw the entire thing in THEIR OWN TRASH on my way out. The mozzarella sticks? Tasted like fish sticks. You can tell they don’t bother changing their oil—it’s like they deep-fry everything in the same ancient grease. Completely foul. And the customer service? Absolutely disgusting. When I went back to try and calmly explain how horrendous the food was, the guy working there cut me off, said “have a nice day” with a smug attitude, and refused to even listen. Oh, and no refunds. They just take your money and laugh in your face. This place is a health code violation waiting to happen. I honestly don’t understand how they’re still allowed to operate. Someone needs to shut this place down before they poison someone. You’ve been warned. Eat here if you want to waste your money, your time, and maybe even a trip to the ER.

Billy's Chowder House is a classic and casual Maine seafood spot located in a picturesque setting surrounded by an estuary and the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge. The restaurant offers great food, including the freshest seafood, lobsters, steaks, and cocktails. Visitors can enjoy watching seals lounging and fish jumping through the window while sitting at the bar. The place is known for its big servings of filling meals with a friendly staff.
The food was overall excellent. Starting with the calamari nicely cooked served with a not overly acidic marinara. The clam chowder was what I came for and didn't disappoint. It was full of clams and vegetables, but I noticed several other soups that sounded amazing so I tried another. The lobster stew was even better. It was filled with tons of lobster and just full of flavor. The lobster roll was good cold style with mayo. The staff were friendly and accommodating.I would definitely go back.

The seafood stew was so creamy, tender and delicious. The best lobster roll I ate while visiting Maine was here!! We ate here twice on vacation and the service was great both times. The stuffed lobster was a little dry but we were there at the end of the day. We enjoyed our experience both times we ate here.

We went here when we were on vacation in Wells. Their chowders are delicious. They have won many awards for their chowders. Their food is excellent and the fish is very fresh and everything is cooked to order. We ate there twice that's how much we enjoyed their food, service and atmosphere. I would suggest going after 7:00 p.m. to eliminate a long wait. Extremely busy during the summer months. Going in late September, October is not as busy and you don't have to deal with the crowds or wait times. Highly recommend if you are in this area. You won't be disappointed!!

Beautiful with a calming atmosphere. The food was amazing!! The clam chowder was excellent, the swordfish with citrus pesto was tasty and the drinks were perfect. We enjoyed the views as we ate our dinner. I highly recommend Billy's Chowder House.

Recently visited Maine for my wife's grandfather's 90th birthday. This was my second time visiting and I never enjoyed lobster during my first visit. So right off the plane I started searching online for a good whole lobster restaurant and found Billy's Chowder House in Wells. I think I hit the jackpot! The service was great and it was a nice, clean place. Reasonable prices too. The food was outstanding! I got a whole baked, stuffed lobster, along with a bowl of chowder. Unbelievably delicious. I'm 59 years old and this was my first whole lobster ever. The overall experience was fantastic. We couldn't be happier with our choice to come here and highly recommend Billy's for anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Had a gift card to use so we thought to try it out! Since I hadn't been before I had to try the clam chowder and fish and chips as my litmus test. Having tried dozens of chowders in my life I'll admit to being a self proclaimed snob about it. This chowder is a 2/5 ~at best~. I found the flavor to be superficial, and the texture more of a watered broth than creamy chowder. The clam was minced and little of it, but the potatoes were well done and bite sized. The fish and chips was much better! 4/5 with a light breading and dense but moist filet. The fries were mostly done to taste (I asked for extra crispy) and my wife's broiled seafood sampler was also very good. Overall value was lacking. Similar restaurants in york/Kittery I feel offer equally good food at more reasonable prices. Fried calamari alone is $18 and most entries are $20+. For two people with a soup salad and entry was $75 inc tax. I doubt I'll return.

Excellent find!!! Our usual stop was closed, so we tried here. What a gorgeous view of the marshes along with attentive staff- Thankyou to Samantha! The award-winning and tasty chowder was a classic style with butter and cream. The fried fish and chips came with 6 lightly battered, 1" square by @ 4 to 6 inches long sticks of haddock and a pile of perfectly crispy fries. My husband and I split those for lunch and each had a cup of either the clam or haddock chowder. We'll be back!

What a gem for a couple of tourists seeking chowder! Walked right in, seated in minutes, and served promptly. We enjoyed clam chowder, a lobster stuffed baked potato, and lobster cakes. Completing the meal with a fabulous Blueberry Shortbread sundae!

4.19.25 Our 1st time in this area. It's off-season, so lots of parking, no wait, food came out quickly. The service was great because the coffee came fast, and our waitress was friendly and came back to check on us. Everything tasted good. The home fries could have been hotter (temperature-wise). But everything else was good. The vibe is what you'd expect in an old diner. Good stop.

Typical coastal diner specializing in seafood. The lobster rolls and sandwiches are a classic that should be tried at least. The lobster was good but cones in a pretty sweet hotdog roll which doesn't really do the dish justice. But that seems to be typical way it's eaten. The seafood specialty platter comes with fried prawns, haddock and scallops which are succulent, fresh and tasty. The desserts are also good with a special mention to the carrot cake which was sublime. Good service.

I remember the lobster pie that I tried here when I first visited main 12 years ago and one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We had to stop here with our kids to have them try it as well, this time around tho the whole experience was a bit disappointing: the lobster was really chewy. My crab cake sandwich was pretty bland, I didn’t really taste the crab at all. I also didn’t love the “world famous” seafood chowder, but my dining partner did! I thought it was bland and not thick enough, I should have went with the clam chowder instead! Glad we stopped here to eat but wouldn’t necessarily make it a must stop again. Service was good. Plenty of parking in the adjacent parking lot.

Welcome to the Maine Diner, a staple in Wells, Maine serving quality food at reasonable prices! You can also get breakfast anytime!! I've been visiting this spot since I was a kid and have fond memories. I remember waiting an hour for a table some mornings due to its popularity (luckily this morning there was no wait). This time around I ordered one of their combo plates, the Aces High. It came with everything I was craving, one egg, one strip of bacon, one sausage, toast, AND a blueberry pancake. Everything was delicious, but the star of the show was definitely the pancake, so fricken good. The interior is cool as it has that old school charm and photos of celebrities that I think have visited the diner. Our waitress was very sweet as well and food came out quick. Visit the Maine Diner!!!! Ps. They also have a cute gift shop next door. I got some goodies to bring home for my boyfriend!

August 7, 2025 - “ Stacked & Packed” diner on Rt. 1 in Wells, Maine . . . Serving 1300 to 1400 customers a day in summer ! 😃👍🏼 My wife , her sister, and I enjoyed lunch , only 15 minute wait . Our server Deb moved like the Flash . . . waiting on several tables at once! Can’t get enough fresh seafood , especially from the bowels of Virginia . . . We loaded up on Lobstah rolls, Haddock sandwich, and Half & Half Plate of fried Scallops & Haddock! Maine seafood is the BEST . Deb started me on a bowl of their award-winning Seafood Chowder. Deb confirms their soup wins the Ogunquit Chowderfest often , I did like it! (I prefer the buttery broth of Dolphin’s Fish Chowder in Harpswell) The flavorful lobster chunks were delicious! The lunch seafood entrees were all very good! We really liked the potato salad & Cole slaw side dishes too ! My wife loved the fresh corn muffin ! My scallops & fried haddock was excellent! 😃👍🏼 Over all , a very good diner for lunch ! Thank you ! The Maine Diner’s background about Socrates “ Louie” Toton was very interesting. Seems he operated a Boston diner then retired to Maine . Several sources mention different time periods of this transition . . . was it the late 1940’s? Or 1953? Or early 1960’s? Not so sure . Even the diner website mentions 2 different dates. Eventually Louie started up a garden plot for veggies, then opened his Maine Diner. Over time Dick Henry & wife took over in 1983. By 2018 new owner Jim MacNeill operated the Maine Diner & gift shop. Note: I guess Google Maps lumps this business into both the Maine Diner & Gift Shop. Should be separate for reviewers. I didn’t visit the gift shop. But my wife did, usual “ Maine Stuff” (Jams, magnets, T-shirts, etc. )

Just read a recent comment that it was off-season. Does that mean for the lobster taste as well? Was disappointed with my lobster roll. It was absolutely bland. If your familiar with Luke's or Mason Famous not even close. The coleslaw had a sour taste to it. And the pickle needed more pickling.I don't think it was ready. Saving grace was the famous seafood chowder. It was so delicious!

Footbridge Beach is a picturesque and serene destination located in Ogunquit, New England. It features three miles of wide sandy beach that stretches from Main Beach to Footbridge Beach and North Beach. While it is smaller than the main Ogunquit Beach, it offers equally pristine white sand and gorgeous views. The beach is less crowded than its counterpart, making it an ideal spot for a calm and relaxing day by the shore.
An absolutely beautiful beach with a really cool wooden footbridge walkway to get to the beach. A good amount of paved parking also!

Footbridge Beach is hands down one of the top beach destinations in Maine. With its long, wide stretch of soft sand and pristine cleanliness, it’s the perfect spot to relax, sunbathe, or take a scenic stroll. The beach is accessible by a short, picturesque walk across the self-titled footbridge, which opens up to a truly stunning coastal landscape. There’s ample paid parking nearby and while restroom facilities are on the smaller side, they get the job done. No dogs allowed. The only real downside? Navigating Route 1 traffic during peak “summah” can be a pain. But honestly, that’s a small price to pay for this beautiful, peaceful slice of Maine coast. Plan ahead, get there early, and enjoy one of the cleanest, most beautiful beaches in the state.

Nestled at the intersection of Route One and the access road to Moody Beach, Spinnakers Seafood Restaurant is a delightful seasonal spot that caters to seafood lovers and families alike. Known for its mouthwatering lobster rolls, guests can indulge in generous portions of chilled lobster meat served on a toasted roll, with options for warm butter or zesty aioli dips. The menu boasts an array of fresh seafood dishes alongside Maine craft beers and wines, making it a perfect stop after a day at the beach.
My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed dining at Spinnaker's, especially since they offered a dedicated gluten free menu. It is very hard to find a restaurant with dedicated fryers and prep stations for gluten free diners. The majority of food on the menu can be made gluten free, which is a huge plus!!! When we went to order, they asked immediately if anyone in our party was gluten intolerant and it made ordering much smoother. The food and service was delicious. The gluten free chicken tenders were to die for and perfectly made. The fried shrimp were plump and well made. The service was fast and friendly. We would certainly go back. 😁

Best fries for miles hands down. Fresh cut!!! Ordered a large and it was huge! Outside tables were very busy. Inside was very clean. They have red gold ketchup which is very disappointing so minus 1 star. (Terrible off brand ketchup that's cheaper then Heinz 57). Other then that place was nice.

Found this restaurant on a FB ad, and decided to make the drive out from our trip to Boston because their Gluten Free specialties. Out of our family of four, only the $40 Lobster roll which was thoroughly enjoyed. The crab roll had an off taste. The gluten-free shrimp platter was bland, the breading was soft and found hair on my shrimp. The chicken nuggets were basic, and nothing was seasoned at all. Best thing was the fries which were gluten free and fried separately.

This is not the same lobster roll I ate and reviewed two years ago. Two years ago it was good. This one was fantastic! A true gasm in your mouth. Fresh lobster obviously just caught and it was like John the fisherman himself delivered it to me fresh off the boat. I was worried about the lemon on top cause that’s normally to cover up sub par frozen lobster meat. This was not the case. Didn’t need the butter or teeth to eat. Was amazing! I will be back! After waiting patiently for 25 minutes just to place my order, and another 15 to receive my order, i was stunned to receive my Caesar salad without any croutons and a packet of Ken’s dressing… $13 for lettuce and a few shavings of parm. When I went to management to inquire where my croutons were, I was treated very rudely and told that they don't serve croutons. When I said so, I paid $13 for essentially lettuce?? The response I received was, you didn’t even ask for croutons did you? I informed her that a Caesar salad always has croutons so no, I didn’t ask. She argued with me - very rude… My entire dinner Came to $66: lettuce, a side of coleslaw, whole clam bellies with nothing else and two lemonades. Do yourself a favor and skip this joke of a restaurant.

Love, love that there are so many gluten free options! I had the gluten free fried haddock sandwich and fries. The haddock was perfect, the bun was good as far as gluten free bread can be and the fries were delicious. I'm so glad I found this on facebook!

A dream come true! The food was outstanding! It has been so long since I’ve gotten to enjoy fried whole belly clams due to celiac! They take your allergy so serious and have a dedicated prep and frying area for people who have a gluten allergy! It was heavenly! Thank you!

Maybe I got the wrong haddock filet. Not worth 20$. Servers where young and attractive but seemed oppressed. Kids meals came in a cardboard car. 13$ cheeseburger was average. My 4 year old is still hungry.

Antique store
I stopped at Anytime Antiques, hoping for a unique experience, and was pleased with their extensive selection and variety of items to browse through. While the prices were a bit high, as is typical in most antique shops, they did offer a widespread sale. Although I didn't make any purchases this time, it remains a possibility for my next visit. This store stood out among my travels throughout New England as it had an impressive collection of beautifully displayed items at reasonable prices.
We were greeted right away when we went inside. This is a multi-vendor antique store with tables and cases and tons of treasures to find. There is a great selection of furniture of people who create them and refinish them. Definitely stop in and take a look around!
Catherine P — Google review
We discovered Anytime Antiques on a recent vacation in Wells, Maine in July. A great find! The man who was working the counter both times that I went in was absolutely lovely, helpful and friendly. Customer service makes an experience, and I enjoyed shopping here because of this. Clean, beautifully arranged dealer spaces. I wish I lived closer, as it was my small car was packed with delightful and well-priced finds from here on the long drive home.
Pat H — Google review
The owner is very kind respectful and professional. The prices are a throwback to before smartphones when you could actually get a honest good deal if you know what you’re looking for. A refreshing change from the many other terrible antique malls and so called thrift stores that take advantage of people who don’t realize they’re being ripped off. The other shops could learn a lot about how to treat customers and how to price things appropriately from this owner.
Maxwell A — Google review
Yes! Worth a stop!! We saw a few things we liked but didn't bite right away. Came back later and the proprietor (who is a total kick) *reparked* her car, unlocked, and rang us up!!! Who does that? If I'm going to spend a few extra dollars anywhere, this is the kind of business I would frequent OFTEN, if I lived in Ogunquit. Yes, we will be back.
GreenGoat S — Google review
We’ve visited this antique shop for years, but our recent experience was deeply disappointing. My dad uses a wheelchair, and not only was the entrance inaccessible (a high lip at the door), but the aisles were so cramped we could barely navigate even in a smaller manual chair. When we politely suggested a simple ramp, the owner dismissed us and implied we didn’t know what we were talking about, showing no interest in making the shop accessible or treating us with respect. Instead, he seemed more concerned about other customers overhearing our frustration than about basic decency or inclusion. If you care about accessibility or respectful treatment, I strongly urge you to take your business elsewhere. Everyone deserves access and dignity—especially in a community that should know better. Photo shows the several inch lip at the door that the owner refused to acknowledge.
Jason S — Google review
We walked in at 4:30, the man at the counter looked up and said, "you guys got five minutes, we are closing." My dad casually replied, "I thought you all were open til 5," to which the man said, "we don't let customers dictate our hours." Very rude customer service, unnecessary.

Drakes Island Beach is a family-friendly destination with seasonal lifeguards, public parking, and stunning sunset views. It's a popular spot for surfing, body boarding, and exploring tidal pools during low tide. The Wells Beach area also includes Moody Beach, Crescent Beach, and Footbridge Beach. Visitors can enjoy miles of sand dunes, sea grass, tidal inlets, and salt marshes.
First time visiting this beach. We got here while the tide was mostly low and beach front was wide and expansive. Its a sandy beach, tightly packed and lovely for swimming. Water today was amazingly warm for the Maine coast! Municipal parking was plentiful and costs 5.00 an hour by pay by plate kiosk. Parking area also has a bathroom with a flush toilet and running sink. Short walk to the beach. Beach chairs recommended as sand is wet even when tide is out. Beach front at high tide is very minimal. Life guard on duty. A clean beautiful public beach.

Gorgeous scenic beach with a pretty jetty that you can walk on (just be careful obviously) we enjoyed spending time here for a couple days on our vacation to Wells Beach. Water was too cold for me even in end of August, but still lots of people swimming. Definitely check it out!
L G — Google review
This is such a beautiful, radical, and jazzy place to visit! I happened to come at the perfect time right before it got to busy, but not too cold either👌. Wow this beach is so clean compared to those of the West Coast, and even some on the East Coast too. I spent an entire day here, and I could spend many more. Without a doubt my new favorite beach spot! 😌
Ethan U — Google review
The freezing weather only contributed to this places beauty. I was amazed!!! Out of season was probably the best time to see it all.
Regina K — Google review
Get there early if you want to find parking. The parking ticket machine always maxes the time to 5pm and cost $20. They really jam pack the cars, so make sure park in ana area to get out easily. The kids love finding crabs under the rocks. The water is way too cold for swimming but some brave folks go deep into the water. We will be back!

Old Marsh Country Club, situated in Wells, Maine, is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Brian Silva as a tribute to the classic stylings of C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor. GOLF Magazine has recognized it as one of the Top 10 Best in America. The course offers a great layout and is well-maintained, with friendly staff and excellent practice facilities.
The Atlantic Pines Golf Club at Old Marsh is now open and better than before. Within the Wells/Kennebunk area, golf is limited to 2 highly overpriced golf courses that are traditional, unassuming and not very challenging. The Atlantic Pines Golf Club is different. It’s beautiful, and challenging with plenty of water and marshes. Playing the course is far from routine as it has target landing areas, beautiful distant views, and some holes with 90 degree dog legs. Most of all, it’s fairly priced without over the top greens fees. As I’m from Philly, Maine has some of the most expensive greens fees (must be the short season). I had the pleasure of being checked in by Jack, a family member of the new owners. He explained the course has change hands and is now owned by his family who have deep roots locally. He sounded excited to bring the course to its full prime potential and to serve the local community. We saw vast amounts of crew working on improving the golf course and club house. I definitely believe they will hit it out of the park. As the golf course is in great condition now, I can only expect this golf course will become the premier club in the Wells / Kennebunk area. Definitely give the course a try and ask for Jack. It’s a great story. You won’t be disappointed.
Robert R — Google review
Played here 7/10/24, this was the nicest course in the area last year, I was very excited to come back and play it again this year and it was very disappointing. 120$ a person and every fairway and green was either burn and dead, there were huge divot marks in 2 of the greens as if someone hit an iron shot off the green, a different 4 greens had rough patches and they were very slow. bunkers were full of grass and rocks and tee boxes were terrible as well. pro shop had very little to offer and beverage cart only accepts cash. very underwhelming and will not be returning. called the pro shop after i returned home and all they had to say was “okay thanks”
Evan M — Google review
This course is a joke… first of all we were told 60$ on the phone with cart included. Clearly that was just to get us there. Show up at 7 am and it’s 85$ to play on this dog track!! Fairways are dry and rock hard…. sand traps … well can’t even tell if it’s a sand trap or not… greens are carpet… most are decent but there’s definitely a handful that are completely garbage. Cart are clunky and outdated… brake wouldn’t work on mine… that was fun… one good thing.. they had many outhouses on the course. Only problem with them…. Is there was about 135 flies in the top buzzing around your head. This place is highly under renovations which I get it.. but 85$ is the biggest rip off in golf… I mean the pro shop didn’t even have their shelves full. Like they are moving in… this is one course I’ll never return to. Edit update…. Thank you for responding to my review but your comments are only valid if you aren’t charging top rate prices for a course that isn’t as good as South Portland municipal which you pay 18$ to play. 85$ is biggest rip off in the state…. You admitted all the renovations and stop charge more than Willowdale which was in better condition April!!

9/30/25 First time playing this course and will 110% be playing here again! Amazing owners, great employees and even better grounds crew. New ownership is working extremely hard to get this course to its highest potential! I was told fairways were a C-, however after getting there I can say they were a solid B- and didn’t upset me or my group! A great round of 18 holes was played and I will definitely recommend this course to people in the future. Can’t wait to see how awesome it’ll look next year! Ignore all these negative reviews, this place is awesome!
Conor B — Google review
First, I like the layout. Several unique holes for sure! The greens were in good shape-some burnt out areas but generally not in play with careful pin position. Fairways not so good. I know you are working hard on them and should be quite good when they recover. Biggest complaint is the excessive number of traps, and the difficulty we had entering and exiting them. The steep borders were tough on those with bad knees. Long stretches with no breaks in those steep borders. Overall we had a good day and will be back.
Bob C — Google review
Course is in great condition! Played today 10/2. Greens are perfect, traps awesome, fairways real good considering drought and previous maintenance issues in last few years, but overall a great track and getting back to a premier track in southern Maine. Great value.
Michael L — Google review
I understand that it’s under new ownership and perhaps they will turn it around but - it’s the worst golf course I have ever played in my life. I have never seen tee boxes or fairways on that poor of shape. Somehow the greens were in decent shape and quite challenging but man- I’m not exaggerating when I say that if your drive lands in the middle of the fairway you are more likely to be lying in dirt than grass.
John W — Google review
On vacation from Plymouth. Thought it would be nice to take in 9 holes in Scenic Wells. What a mistake. Course condition was deplorable. Brown fairways with minimal grass. You should be ashamed to charge what you did for such conditions. We come up every year and usually golf at the Outlook. Wanted to try something different this year. Never again.

Quaint place. Farm fresh produce, homemade bakery and local produced beverages. Nice people there. Price wise on the tad high side but it is to be expected at a local farm store. Will be going back to see what they have for pumpkins.

They are way over priced but I pass by on my way to Dover NH so it is covenient. Stopped here for fresh Silver Queen corn and was extremely disappointed. At 99cents an ear it was definitely overpriced but we love silver queen so I bought 6 ears. Not one ear had a full cob of kernels and 2 ears were only 50 percent full. I will not stop here again.

Mekhong Thai Wells is a popular year-round restaurant known for its delicious Thai classics like Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, as well as a variety of stir-fries, soups, and curries. The menu also features house specials such as Mango Fried Rice and General Thai Chicken. Customers can choose from various bases like rice, salad, or noodles and add their preferred protein.
I just ordered take-out from here for the first time. I got the salmon dish with the red curry option and grilled option. I got brown rice with it. This is seriously good for takeout! The salmon was perfectly cooked! The veggies were delicious. This is the best salmon dish I have had in a while. I asked for 3/5 for heat level. That is medium-high hot to me. I have an intermediate tolerance for spicy food. I wouldn’t order the spice level above 3/5 as it might overpower the soft salmon and its smokey grilled flavors. The brown rice is the perfect consistency, plump and nutty. This dish rocks!

We had been eating seafood for a couple of days and stopped at this Thai restaurant for a change. Initially, we were a little skeptical but then we asked a local who was regular here and wanted to try it based on her recommendation. My actual rating is 4/5 but gave it 1 less because they charge extra for any veggies and the staff behavior was disappointing. Here is the summary of our experience there: 1. Ambiance 4/5: The place has a Thai-inspired decor and feels like you are transported to the South Asian country. You feel refreshed, especially in this seafood town looking for a change. 2. Service 2/5: This is where I was deeply disappointed. Our server Shannon was rude and anything we asked for, she made faces and gave us looks. This made our experience subpar. On top of this, they charged us $2 for adding onion and $2 for adding Broccoli 3. Food 3.5/5: The food was good in taste and the quantity was great. The portion was so big that I even took it home and had it the next day. One caution though, there are not a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. The only one I saw was Rama Garden Noodle so keep your hopes low if you are looking for veg options. a) Panyang curry was good in taste 4. Value for Money 4/5: I initially thought the place was on the higher side but looking at the quantity, I feel it is reasonably priced In summary: The Good: 1) Ambiance 2) Great reviews from locals 3) Panyang curry 4) Great portion sizes Not So good: 1) Staff behavior 2) Anything changed was charged extra for any changes

Staff is friendly, food is excellent and price is point on. Clean, fresh and simple dining area. 3 stars for service given as we waited 20 min for our dirty dishes to be cleared and for the check. The place was not busy at this time. I actually had to go and get our server to make these requests so we could leave. Overall excellent experience.

This was one of the saltiest meals I have ever had. Ordered drunken noodles and sweet and sour chicken and both were super salty. Had to drink almost half a gallon of water in the subsequent hours to feel somewhat hydrated. Service and atmosphere were fine.
Ryan B — Google review
I’m incredibly disappointed with my recent visit. My family and I have been coming here for years and have always loved the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the food. We even used to purchase jewelry when it was available—this place truly felt special to us. Unfortunately, our experience last night was the complete opposite. I came with my partner, our 10-month-old, and our 6-year-old. From the moment we sat down, our server seemed annoyed, as if our presence was an inconvenience. She didn’t even ask what we’d like to drink—just automatically brought water. The energy felt unwelcoming from the start. When she finally took our order, we asked for two sparkling waters with lime and a Shirley Temple for our daughter. When the drinks arrived, my daughter removed the cherries that came in her glass. That’s when we noticed a slimy substance on the stick. Curious and concerned, we checked—and to our shock, it tasted like SOAP. We immediately brought it to the attention of the staff, only to be told that the cherries were stored near cleaning supplies. This is completely unacceptable. How many other guests—especially children—may have unknowingly consumed contaminated food? The lack of concern shown by the staff was even more disturbing than the incident itself. I’m grateful we caught it before my daughter ate one, but this experience has left me unsettled. We will not be returning, and I feel it’s important to share this experience so others are aware.

We just had a luncheon at East Restaurant and they were absolutely incredible! We had an unknown amount of confirmed attendees, we anticipated 70, and ended up with 81, and the staff handled it seamlessly. The food was not only absolutely delicious (our guests are still raving about it!), but they also made sure we never ran out. The service was top-notch – attentive, friendly, and efficient. My boyfriend and I know better then to stop at American Asian Restaurants that haven’t been recommended but the outside exterior was stimulating, we were hungry and chose compulsively. I’d like to believe this place is much better during the heart of the summer. The food was mediocre at best. The chicken tasted as if it was reheated from the previous day and the calamari was not only chewy but tasted frozen, thawed and just thrown in the dish I ordered. The calamari definitely was not sautéed nor did it have any flavor of the sauce which lead me to my conclusion. The maki roll was the best thing we ordered and still only a 5 out 10 for taste and quality. We had hot tea and I requested a second bag which didn’t improve the taste. My opinion, the owners are buying the cheapest products possible and hoping that most of the dinners have never had decent American Asian Cuisine. My advice keep driving by, there are far better places off 95 and Route 1.

Decided to stop in today for first time while driving down the coast. Buffet was ONLY food available. Food was dry and not very warm. Definitely NOT up to proper or safe temperature. The rice was crunchy and dry, probably a few hours old. We all felt sickly an hour or so after eating. Restaurant is beautiful. Service was good. Definitely disappointed in the food and safety. Spent over $100, 3 adults one child for buffet and 2 drinks.

*Allergy Alert* Uses MSG!!! Can ask for it to not be included but egg rolls and pork fried rice are made in advance & have MSG in them. We’re warmly greeted and seated. Waiter brought water right away. He was very friendly and helpful with questions. In my opinion all the food was way too sweet! It was buffet food in a sit down restaurant. All of our meet was not piping hot. Like it had all been friend and was waiting under a heat lamp till ordered… then throw the same sauce on everything and bam, food. Building is interesting. Needs some upkeep. Landscaping needs done outside. Bathrooms were clean!

Richard's Seafood Restaurant is a pleasant establishment with an unfortunate lack of assistance for the elderly person who handles all the orders. This results in slow service, although the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Despite the subpar coffee, patrons are encouraged to be patient and understanding towards the new and nervous cashier. Notably, their 4 oz lobster roll is highly recommended.
I've been coming to Maine yearly, sometimes multiple times a year for forty years, and sadly this was my first time at Richards Seafood. Definitely not my last either!! This place is amazing!! The food was fresh and delicious, the servings were more than we expected, and the price is half of what you'll find down on rt one. We're so happy that we decided to stop in.

This was a nice place to eat. I felt bad for the 1 older person taking all the orders. Lady had zero help so the service was slow. The food was good at a good price. I would eat at this place again. The coffee was not good lol. The girl running the register was new and nervous so be kind and patient we all have to start someplace. 4 Oz lobster roll was worth it.

We go here all the time and have been for a few years. It normally is delicious and everything seemed to be made fresh. We went there tonight and spent $80. The chicken fingers were terrible. I couldn’t even eat them. They obviously came out of a bag and the plate was over $20. The seafood platter my husband had was not the same and did not taste like it has in the past. I understand they are short staffed, but the prices are more on the expensive side. We didn’t mind paying those prices when the quality of food matched. Sadly it has changed.

The waitress was very nice but overworked..there was only two people trying to do all the jobs (waiting, cooking, cleaning, and cashiering). With that, it made service slow. The food could have cooked a few minutes longer to brown it and make it crispy. The atmosphere of the setup was very nice.

The service was awful! I understand that places are short staffed but the waitress was incompetent. Finally had to ask for our drinks after she forgot. She said waiting on coffee that I just saw her start when she realized that she forgot. Told her my dad couldn't eat fried food and she brings him a fried chicken sandwich. This was 10 minutes after she delivered my appetizer along with my main meal. They never replaced my dad's meal and didn't take anything else off the bill. Will never go back!!

It was the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. It appeared that it was also cooked in its own disposable baking pan so even if ovens were shared, the pizza itself didn’t touch other pizza pans. I appreciated the small details to have as little cross contamination as possible. They also do have a disclaimer for their gluten free items on their menu. Overall, staff was INCREDIBLY friendly, the environment was cute and beachy, and their food was absolutely amazing.

Excellent meatball subs and pizza! They are open Tuesday and Wednesday when Seacoast house of pizza is closed. Very clean. They need more staff to have better hours.
Jon D — Google review
We arrived unannounced as a group of 18 when they opened. No wait (except in line behind each other). Service with a smile, right down to the last one of us. The all-female crew was awesome. Atmosphere is no frills but fine; enough seating for everyone. Clean bathroom. Food was good, standard, nothing remarkable.

I placed my order online, and got a response saying it would be 30-40 minutes. I went to the restaurant and got a text saying my food was ready. When I checked in, they said it was mostly done they were wrapping up the last bit. 40 minutes later I checked back in. They said again it was almost done, they were wrapping up my steak and cheese. Fourty more minutes and they were STILL wrapping my steak and cheese. While I was there, another guy complained he waited 2 hours for a small pizza. On top of all that, the pizza was terrible, it was like a frozen pizza had been microwaved, the onion rings were both over cooked and raw in parts, and most of the food was cold.
Kyle — Google review
Amazing pizza. It’s cooked the old fashion way in an oven (not high speed in a conveyor belt). The crust was cooked to perfection and the ingredients in our Hawaiian pizza were just right. Perfect blend of light saltiness with sweetness from pineapples and the sauce. Highly recommend Ogunquit House of Pizza when in the area

The food was amazing at this place but terrible service. It took 20 mins just to tell the staff that we had a takeout. They need more staff because the person at the front is literally taking orders while on the phone. I recommend to eat here, but not before it's a half an hour before closing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO PIZZA PEOPLE. And kid u not 2 chicken tender plates, a ham and cheese sub, and a small cheese pizza was over 60 DOLLARS. again, WOULD NOT RECOMMEMD. if u wanna try a new place, don't go to this one.
Hannah — Google review
Took over an hour to make 2 pizzas. People who ordered 10 minutes after us received their pizzas 20 minutes before we did. Completely disorganized. They don’t know how to run a restaurant.
Tim H — Google review
Amazing owners and staff, always putting out a great & very delicious product. Greek style house of pizza. Hardworking and reliable team. This is the kind of place you could frequent a couple times a week. I do. We’re lucky to have this so close by. (Picture: mushroom/ green pepper pizza) - FYI New owners since I posted this. Still serving a good product. Could offer a bigger variety of chips, snacks and sodas.

Douglas Harding Rare Books is a treasure trove for book lovers, offering an extensive collection of used and rare books that feels like stepping into a literary time capsule. With rooms filled to the brim with titles across various genres, it's easy to lose track of time here—perfect for those rainy days when you want to dive deep into the world of literature.
I wish this book store was close to my house. I visited here while on vacation. It’s a lovely place to explore and I found some books at a great price!
Krista P — Google review
Such a cool little book shop! Tons of different popular authors fill the rows of shelves that include many genres, plus rare books available upstairs. *something to be aware of: When you pull up to the building, it does look like you are pulling up to someone's house. There's no signs on the doors (minus a small hours sign) and the only reason we did find it was from watching someone go in that's clearly been there before. You can pay with card or cash here and the prices are decent. It's worth a stop if you're in the area and like books. For anyone with bad allergies, be prepared for an old book smell when walking in! I love it.. my husband doesn't
Desiree S — Google review
This is the best place to poke around and find some good reads. Douglas was so kind and had a fabulous collection. I will most definitely be revisiting.
Brittany K — Google review
Tired of browsing the internet? Nothing beats this! Spent hours here, until our brains were numb from knowledge learned in everything from gardening to theology. So wonderfully packed with books of every sort, on shelves, in boxes, on window sills, and behind every door! So perfectly unorganized, it’s like pulling books off your grandparent’s bookcase. Enjoy!
Scott P — Google review
Decided to stop here, and I don't regret it one bit. Lots of great finds here. The owner was very helpful and obviously quite passionate about his craft. I felt the prices were very reasonable. Worth a stop!
Kieran O — Google review
Quite an expansive collection of old books, maps and prints. Maybe organization is a work in progress, but some category labels on the shelf would be a great help. The entry driveway on the US1 is easy to miss. But overall, this shop is a gem.
Anthony R — Google review
A terrific store. Has tons of antique maps and amazing books, all reasonably priced.
Per S — Google review
I’ve loved stopping at Douglas Harding books for years. I have made my shelves groan with books from there- Maine, NH, and MA state histories, Thoreau, et. al. , out of print literature, and fabulous antique maps. Last there for the end of May , I noticed a smaller version, no less compelling. There was still book conversation and great selections! Hope to be back soon!

Art gallery
Nestled along Route 1 in Wells, Maine, Corey Daniels Gallery is a captivating destination that beautifully marries history with contemporary flair. Housed in a charmingly renovated 19th-century colonial home and its adjoining barn, the gallery showcases an impressive array of artwork—from sculptures to paintings—featuring both local talent and artists from afar. Visitors rave about the eclectic collection that spans modern, vintage, and antique pieces at various price points.
Absolutely my favorite gallery we visited on our trip up the coast of Maine! We loved the studio feel and the quantity of pieces. They were creatively displayed in unexpected places. The owner was so nice and laid back.
Elise Z — Google review
There is nothing better than the intimate experience of walking through a gallery and feeling the connection to the artists work. A beautiful space vast open yet intimate. The lighting was complementary to some of the artwork design. Thoughtful placement of pieces wonderful variations in texture, color, and theme. Phoebe was informative and very knowledgeable in both the history of the space and the subject matter of the artists represented. A special bonus. There are several very interesting antique items for sale upstairs, including old molds and tools. Definitely worth a visit.!!

I’ve been most fortunate in life and had the opportunity to travel. Every where we travel, we search out art from thrift to formal galleries. Of all the places we have traveled, Corey’s gallery is the finest and by far my favorite gallery. Cory has a great collection of modern, vintage, and antique art. Prices ranges from less than $100 to $10,000+. You won’t be disappointed with your visit. Expect the unexpected and a visual orgasm! God Bless!

Harbor
Wells Harbor is a vibrant hub of boating activities and family-friendly events. The annual Harbor-Fest offers a day filled with games, competitions, and entertainment for all ages. Visitors can enjoy the private marina, waterfront restaurant, and Wells Harbor Community Park. The harbor provides access to the Webhannet River and offers opportunities for fishing and sightseeing charters.
returned to the park recently for the first time in many months, pouring rain, counted on having the place to ourselves, and we did. bullie happily recovered a sadly weathered ballie she lost one of the last times we were there, so we played mudball in the rain, walked the circuit, then headed back up the road a ways to the little observation platform across from the catch to scout marsh birds. saw none (we egret to inform that no herons were dumb enough to be out in the rain…), then circled back to the waterfront. there’s a little ship’s bell there, mounted on a granite pillar overlooking the beach, placed in remembrance of those whose lives were taken on 9/11. you're invited to honor your own remembrances, and i do. we make our ritual visit to the bell before leaving the park. bullie waits while i offer up the same simple prayer as always because i’m not original--a prayer for the planet and the ones i love, for the ones who’ve hurt me, for the ones i’ve lost. sound the bell one, two, three times, ring good intentions into the world. may they find a hardened heart and soften it to kindness. love this little park * * * i haven't been since midsummer, but this is such a pretty little harbor. i miss visiting it. bullie loves the park. this is one of the last photos i took there, just before sunset, panning towards the head of the harbor. maps' file compression will ruin it but you get the idea. so peaceful

American restaurant
Bull N' Claw is a classic surf 'n' turf restaurant and bar known for its cozy atmosphere and a soup-and-salad bar. Visitors rave about the piping hot and chunky clam chowder, as well as the 2-foot lobster rolls that are considered some of the best around. The establishment's reopening of their salad bar has been met with enthusiasm, with fresh and delicious options available.
We have been die hard Warren's lovers for years, and haven't found a place close to it. Now we have!!! The salad bar was smaller than Warren's....which was ok!! The choices were all fresh and crisp. For dinner we had the baby shrimp with rice and coleslaw; and the the baked stuffed haddock with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both entrees were hot and cooked to perfection!!! Our servers was training and she did an excellent job!!! We definitely will be back!!
Meghan S — Google review
First time trying this restaurant. Food was better than expected. The menu is large, so it made us nervous about freshness. Our server was very friendly and she did a good job. The overall interior is a bit dated. The salad bar was fresh and inviting with a good amount of options.
Sarah — Google review
Been to this awesome restaurant twice now. Any time we are heading to Maine we will make a detour to Bull N’ Claw. Make sure one of you orders the 8” lobster roll. I preferred the 8” to the time we stopped for the 24”, I thought the 8” was more stuffed with lobster, my hubby said it was my imagination. Great soup & salad bar.
Ann C — Google review
I only gave it 4 stars due to being a little pricey, but honestly, the food was worth what we spent. I you normally skip the roll, don't! They are delicious 😋
Julie M — Google review
During my work trip to Maine this week, I was recommended to visit Bull and Claw Restaurant in Wells ME. It was a super experience not only with the old charm of “Old New England” which locals visit all of the time, but the friendly atmosphere that is beyond above average! My waitress Theresa was outstanding! Her smile and attention to detail left me wanting to write this review before leaving my seat. Food came out super fast. I was served very tasty warm roll with butter to start, and for lunch, I had their 8” lobster roll and clam chowder which both were delicious! They have a huge salad bar, may have to try it next time. Everyone near Wells or surrounding towns should try this restaurant! It’s a must!
Jaime C — Google review
This is a cute little restaurant. Food was very good nice views. I wouldn’t recommend it for a special occasion as our table was next to the bar and there was a loud laughing and carrying on, but if you like that sort of thing is definitely a great restaurant. It was our 39th anniversary and probably wasn’t the best choice to have a romantic night.
Tami N — Google review
I had the prime rib and my fiancé had stuffed lobster tail. I ordered the bull and claw speciality cocktail. The flavor was great but not very strong. My prime rib hadn't set before they brought it out to me thankfully while at the table I allowed it to sit. Imo it wasn't quite medium. My fiance ordered the stuffed lobster tail.
Gabby D — Google review
We had the nicest and best waitress along with fantastic lobster rolls. The 8" roll comes served with a delicious hoagie bun while the 24" is served on french bread. We paid a bit more for hot with butter versus cold style. The soup and salad bar had lots of options and, most importantly, everything was very fresh and clean.

I use the AP, staffing shortages and a door locked at 6am that should have been opened at 5am. One very large employee was not happy that I interrupted her smoke break and got very. Salty when I complained. Not again!
Paul F — Google review
My bride and I both enjoy Dunkin Coffee. The only thing that is a bit annoying is their new pickup system. You order your coffee, food, etc. and go to the next window to pick them up. My wife always gets a bagel to go with her coffee. The bagels are now kept in the food prep area as most people probably get them toasted with butter, cream cheese, etc. She never gets anything on it, just a bagel, unsliced that they put in a bag for her. Since no one has to toast or slice it, no one bags it either. This happens every time we order a plain bagel. After standing there awhile waiting for a bagel and watching customers behind me leave with their food, I usually say something and they often seem annoyed. The next four days we are on vacation, the same situation occurs. Should be a simple fix but no one seems to notice.

Chinese restaurant
Mapleleaves Garden Restaurant and Lounge offers a delightful carryout dinner for two, consisting of spring rolls and egg rolls, crispy beef, and house egg foo young. The dishes are all made with fresh ingredients and are accompanied by white rice. What sets this place apart is the unexpected but excellent house mustard that comes with the egg rolls. It adds a spicy kick to the meal. Unlike overpriced tourist traps, Mapleleaves Garden Restaurant and Lounge provides good quality Chinese food at reasonable prices.
Not very busy. Food was fresh and tasty. Serving sizes are large.

I love the service and speed. Always ready within 15 minutes from calling. And the made to order sushi is my favorite any where around here! So much better than the east restaurant. Unlike the east their pork isn't just fat and undercooked. I recommend maple leaves
Jeffrey C — Google review
I use to go here quite often. The service has never been great but the food was always excellent. The last time I went my waitress was more interested in eating her own meal than taking our order. She barely paid attention, forgot our soup, got one of the soups wrong (they were supposed to both be chicken vegetable, she brought my friend tofu). We ended up finding out the only order she put through was my friend's entree, not my sushi or either of the soups. We had to tell our order to four different people before we actually got what we originally tried to order. It all came one plate at a time, first my soup, then her entree, then her soup, the my entree, each plate came about twenty minutes apart. It was 3pm and we were the only customers. Manager wouldn't even give us a discount for having to order four times, wait for over an hour, and we didn't even get to eat at the same time. I will never set foot in there again.
Rebekah K — Google review
This must be a Wells, ME " best kept secret" dining place. We're here for sightseeing and decided to stop for something other than seafood. Our food was excellent! We dined after the lunch rush hour and were the only 2 diners in the restaurant. Whatever doubts we had were immediately diminished by the egg drop soup (starter, ordered seperate from Lunch Specials). The entrées were excellent (Beef Lo Mein and Gen Tsao's Chicken). The chicken fingers (included wirh the Beef Lo Mein) are very good as was the pork fried rice (included on all Specials). Dining area is very clean and the service was very polite. All this for super reasonable prices. If I was a "Local" I'd be dining there quite a bit. Try it... you'll probably like it. 😋

The food was fresh, hot and is consistent each time we dine there. The crab rangoons are my daughter's favorite. Pleasant service and plenty of delicious hot tea.

We got carryout dinner for two, including spring rolls and egg rolls, crispy beef and house egg foo young. All fresh and delcious, came with white rice. The house mustard for the egg rolls was unexpected (usually it's just those little plastic packets) and excellent, but very hot (the way I like it though).

If you're sick of seafood, go Chinese. Compared to other people here, thankfully we haven't had any issues. I like their meal combo choices. And the chicken wings are so delicious. The staff mostly the women can be snappy. No big deal. As long as they attend to my food needs, I'm very happy.

Seafood restaurant
Fisherman's Catch Restaurant is a charming seasonal seafood spot located at 134 Harbor Road in Wells. The rustic and old-school ambiance, complete with a patio and marsh views, adds to the dining experience. Known for its delectable fried seafood, including lobster rolls, crab cakes, chowder, shrimp tacos, fried clams, scallops, and haddock bites. The restaurant also offers a good selection of local microbrews.
This place is a not so hidden gem. In fact get there early because it's common to wait 30 min for a seat but it is definitely worth the hype! They had the best lobster rolls and seafood in the area. Hands down! Their chowders are also good . We ate there several times and I haven't ordered anything that wasn't delish. They keep the atmosphere a little rustic but there is nothing rustic about the quality and delicious food they serve up! And make sure to save room for key lime pie! It's amazing 😍

We really enjoyed Fisherman’s Catch on our trip to Wells Beach. The haddock sandwiches were a touch in the bland side, but fried to perfection. The shrimp cocktail and fried clams were simply wonderful. They were matched for the best lobster roll prices we could find, and it was a good one! Photos are the view across the street while we waiting for our take out order. The wait wasn’t too, too long, but we got a nice stroll in.

This was a great place to have a nice sit down seafood meal. This place is always very busy. We got the opportunity to sit outside and it was amazing! The food was delicious! The cold slaw was really good! Lobster was excellent! Service was friendly and pretty fast considering how busy this place was. I was very happy we got to visit this restaurant this time around! I would recommend!
Trish O — Google review
Fisherman’s Catch is everything you’d hope for in a small-town coastal seafood restaurant — and then some. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly service that made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d picture in a classic Maine seafood spot: casual, welcoming, and filled with the mouthwatering scent of fresh seafood. The prices were surprisingly reasonable, and the portions were absolutely incredible — generous, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite tasted fresh and delicious, the kind of meal that makes you want to come back again before you’ve even left. And don’t skip dessert. Seriously. It was the perfect sweet finish to an already outstanding meal. Located in a town with deep fishing roots, Fisherman’s Catch captures the heart of coastal Maine — simple, authentic, and full of charm. This place easily earns all five stars and a spot on our must-visit list whenever we’re in the area.
Amber M — Google review
Get there at around 7:50pm, they still took my to-go order. Have ordered lobster dinner and a corn. The lobster tastes really good, even without any source. It’s really juicy and fresh. The price is also reasonable. They also gives buzz pager to customers so that we could get notified when the food is ready. It is really convenient. Plenty of parking outside of restaurant(avoid peak hours).
Sophia L — Google review
Friendly servers and updated dining spaces and restrooms with a traditional Maine menu. The lobster rolls were smaller than expected and they were out of the day's soup and wouldn't bake or grille the fish (only fried.) The blueberry lemonade and bread pudding were amazing, and the views of the marsh are spectacular. Prices are pricey but expected.
Sarah C — Google review
A must visit. Yes, there will most likely be a wait, but the good news is that there's a bar you can order from🎊...So, grab a drink and an appetizer while you wait so you don't get hangry! Lobster tacos were phenomenal, and so were the truffle waffle fries and the truffle lobster roll 🦞 oh, and that blueberry vodka lemonade hit the spot. 🍋 You're welcome! There was live music, and our server was delightful. 🥰
