Nature & Parks

Families can enjoy playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas, making it an ideal destination for gatherings and celebrations. The park also features three fenced dog parks catering to different sizes and temperaments of dogs. Visitors can take advantage of the fitness equipment, trails, and ample parking available at the park. Additionally, there are paved paths for leisurely strolls through the natural surroundings.
Really big and wonderful park. You can go for a walk , do bbq ,picnic and many events . There is a huge dedicated dog park as well for both small and big dogs. Overall, it’s really cool place to go and spend time . It’s white like a blank canvas right now but still its fun to walk around

Great park and place to have long walks at and rent to have a party there, baby shower, etc. nice weather usually, and there’s festivals that take place here they’re so fun!
Glownyup — Google review
This park is quite close to the residential area which allows them to hit out for a quick walk in the nature. I took a stroll around the complete length of the park, though it was winter and pretty cold outside. It was such a pleasant experience😍❤️ This is place would give a calmness to mind when you stroll around during any season. If you stay around this area during your trip. This is a must visit place for a stroll. May be some barbecue and picnic during the other seasons.
Rajee J — Google review
This park is a hidden gem with its scenic beauty and diverse offerings. One of its highlights is the fantastic 20 km bike trail, perfect for cycling enthusiasts who enjoy long rides surrounded by nature. Additionally, the park boasts a spacious dog park where our furry friends can run and play freely. Tennis enthusiasts can also take advantage of the well-maintained tennis courts available. For those who prefer a leisurely stroll, the park offers beautiful walking paths that provide a peaceful and relaxing experience. There are also ample picnic tables for visitors to enjoy outdoor meals amidst the serene surroundings. However, it's worth noting that obtaining permission is required for using the picnic tables. Families with children will appreciate the well-designed and engaging children's play area, which offers plenty of fun activities for kids. The park's location is also convenient, making it easily accessible for visitors. It's important to mention that while the park has MTB bike trails, it lacks winter maintenance, so they may not be suitable for use during the colder months. Safety is a priority here, as the park provides a strong security presence and surveillance, ensuring a secure environment for all visitors.Overall, this park offers a wide range of amenities and a picturesque setting, making it a great place to spend quality time outdoors.
Aravinda B — Google review
The park is huge and has plenty of amenities, including (but not limited to) a museum. At the eastern end of the park there's a hike path that will take you all the way to Markham Road through the woods.

2022 July 4.5★ Come to this park for its barbeque, picnics, playgrounds and soccer fields. There's public washrooms, ample parking and lots of green space in-between different designated areas. Lots of shade underneath the mature trees. Splash pad for those looking to cool off. Connected to other paths and this makes a great trail and stopping point. Public washroom. Ample parking. Great location.
K W — Google review
Amazing park to visit and spend time in. Very family friendly and lots of charcoal bbq grills for public use. There are plenty of playgrounds and water park for kids and adults alike. Lots of shaded benches and sheltered picnic areas with hard roofs for any weather. You will find an off leash dog park, with many friendly dogs and dog companions. There’s a museum with pay what you can, Jeff does a great job at giving you a tour. Many trails to enjoy the nature and scenery. There’s also a ravine that runs through the park with ducks and fishes. Huge parking lot to accommodate the demand when it gets busy. Would highly recommend. You will thank me later :)
Usman U — Google review
A very nice park which includes a playground for the little one (looks quite recent) with a sandbox and a splash pad. For the grown up there is an exercise area that I haven't tried but looks nice. Various trails with trees and opportunities to cycle around. There is a free parking although it tends to get busy on weekends.

Observation Decks & Towers
Dorset Lookout Tower, located just north of Dorset in the Algonquin Highlands, is a 30-meter tall metal tower offering breathtaking views of Lake of Bays and the surrounding forests. Visitors can climb the open metal stairs to reach the observation deck, which sits 465 feet above Lake of Bays. The area also features hiking trails, picnic sites, and visitor information. While fall offers stunning foliage views, it's recommended to avoid busy weekends.
The Dorset Lookout Tower is a fun place to visit if you love nature and beautiful views. Standing tall at 30 meters, the tower gives you an amazing view of the surrounding forests and lakes. Climbing 120 stairs to the top might be a little challenging for those who are afraid of hights, but it's worth it when you see the stunning scenery. On a clear day, you can see for miles and even spot some wildlife! There are also picnic areas nearby, where you can relax and enjoy a snack after your climb. Whether you're with family or friends, visiting the Dorset Lookout Tower is a great way to spend a day outdoors.

Breathtaking view from the lookout point. We reached at 9 am and had booked tickets beforehand. We were the first to climb the tower. It wasn't too busy. Its a steep climb up due to which my elderly parents couldn't make it to the top of the lookout point.
Leena J — Google review
Went on Sat Oct 11 for 9am. Already had a decent crowd, it was raining so the stairs were pretty wet but the views were still amazing! I would recommend wearing gloves as my hands were soaked and freezing from gripping the railing going up and down (realized after they also sell in gift shop for $1.99). Portapotties where the parking lots is, was pretty clean (at 9am) A great little stop for nice pics! Go early.
Brandon C — Google review
Visited in the first week of October on a weekday – highly recommend weekdays since weekends get too busy. Parking is about $16.50, or you can park outside and walk in for around $5 per person. The tower view is amazing for fall colours, and there’s a nice little trail nearby too. Bathrooms and a small shop are available, but better to bring your own food.
Loji N — Google review
We went late October. Still beautiful scenery, however just catching the tail end of fall colours. Lots of photo shoot opportunities and little gems. The actual look out tower is not supervised by park employees- so during peak season/hours, it’s very congested climbing up and down which can cause some anxiety. The little gift shop was nothing special. Was able to take beautiful pictures and videos Great site for small pic nics
Hailey M — Google review
The view from the tower was amazing. It is good to go during the peak season of fall as you can see the vibrant colour's of the nature. The tower on top cannot hold more than 30 persons so need to be careful on top.
Aneesh T — Google review
Fabulous views from half way point, even better from the top. Good staircase but lots of stairs. In fall color season, you must book a timeslot
Mike A — Google review
Really lovely place. Views are great. Staff is very helpful and friendly. There are 2 porta potties, one accessible for a wheelchair. Parking is right there so no long walks.

Terrible experience having lunch here before heading back to the city after a 5 day camping trip. Upon first look the prices were outrageous, and the quality of food was giving mid/you can make this at home. The quality was terrible. I should also note the fries they give you as a side were different from the fries for a poutine. It was soggy, mushy and not done well. Where I had an issue and what prompted this review was the service. I had ordered a toasted BLT with fries (1/5- the only thing good was the crispy French fries) and chicken tenders with a side poutine (1/5 - was given 3 little chicken tenders, with a small side portion of poutine that they up charged $5 for) at 12:50pm and did not receive the food until 1:30pm, almost 40 minutes later is INSANE. I had a feeling that they had forgotten my order when my friend who ordered a poutine got it before me, and the others who had ordered after me began to receive their food. I noticed the girl who took my order was watching my friend input the “tip” option and did that to me as well. I put no tip because you are not serving me. Not sure if this is at all correlated but it was incredibly strange to me. To wait almost 40 minutes for food that takes less than 8 minutes to make is insane and really pissed me off. I wish I had gotten food elsewhere. Also- the kawartha dairy ice cream outside has different flavours than the inside cafe. I really wanted Muskoka Mocha as that is my favourite flavour but this flavour was only inside in the cafe and I had already gotten so aggravated that I did not want to go in. Terrible terrible experience- avoid this place at all costs unless you are desperate and have money to burn.

Stay Away!! Price Gouging to the max!! We ordered chicken fingers and fries and it cost $28!?? The fries were super stale, the chicken wasn't even good at all. Terrible quality and not worth it. I hate that people still continue to go here with the garbage quality food because as long as they are getting business, they won't care about service, quality or price gouging. Their excuse is that they had to raise their price due to cost of food over the last few years. Are you kidding!? There are restaurants that don't charge a ridiculous price for less than mid-level food. Again, Stay Away!
Robert S — Google review
Been to this place multiple times over the summer and the service/food quality is consistently terrible. Today, $27 for two ice creams and two americanos. I received a cracked ice cream cone that they would not replace. They don’t offer options to pay for just a single small scoop for a baby or dog-this is silly considered the volume of families and dogs that come through. So, they lost business from me because I’m not paying $7 for a tiny scoop of vanilla for my dog. My americanos were forgotten about-they’re always understaffed so this is a management problem and less a reflection of the server. Once she finished them, instead of walking around the counter to hand them to me at the coffee station she left them for me at the cash, meaning I had to squeeze by multiple other guests. The flow of guests and overall setup is nonsensical. As well, the cold brew I received from another visit was disgusting and the coffee is consistently weak. If your family needs refreshments, get them before you head into the park. Prices are outrageous as well. I notice the store comments on Google reviews saying the price of food has gone up since the pandemic-yes this is true but their prices are still insane when compared to similar country cafe and grill stores. Disappointed.
Abby K — Google review
The prices are high but the food and services doesn’t match the cost. We ordered nachos which were very expensive and there was hardly any cheese on them. The meat tasted dried out too and they didn’t give you enough sauces to go with it. They also should carry a kids size poutine and other kid meals that aren’t so huge and costly. Lastly, we ordered ice cream blind. What I mean by that when I say I ordered ice cream blindly is that they covered the ice cream refrigerator so that you cannot see the flavours you’re selecting from, Rather, you must refer to laminated signs on the wall, which really doesn’t help in the ice cream selection process as most people select their ice cream visually not by a description. It takes out the fun of going for ice cream if you don’t get to look at the ice cream and point of the one you want. As a result, my daughter chose an ice cream that she thought sounded good, but really it wasn’t her cup of tea and I blame them for that because she couldn’t see it visually ahead of time. They refused to let her switch. She only took two bites out of it and they would not let her switch. I feel for the price we paid satisfaction should be guaranteed. It’s not like we ate the whole ice cream and asked to switch. We also ordered a sundae and the strawberry sauce was tart and watery.
Brad J — Google review
The food is super overpriced for what it is and how how you're treated. The food was very meh, cold, and made us sick. The facilities unavailable. One of the girls in our group does not eat pork, and she mentioned this over and over, and somehow still got a big honking piece of pemeal bacon in her burger. Our fries were cold, all 4 orders, despite the restaurant being busy. The bathrooms were closed for cleaning for over an hour, though it became obvious that they just closed them so they wouldn't have to clean them again at closing time (we were there about 1hr 15 min before close, the bathrooms was closed when we got there, and they never reopened). 2 of the 4 of us got stomach sick afterwards. No, we will not return. Ever.
Raquel R — Google review
The food is served hot, tasty and fresh. There is a large menu of burgers, sandwiches, wraps and sides to choose from. The prices are high. Pretty much $20 for any combo and you save $1 opt out of combo. The bathrooms are atrocious. Go in the woods, you'll be better off. The bathrooms look abandoned. Last picture. The overall valued experience here is Low.
Justin G — Google review
My husband and I along with friends of ours, have made Lake of two rivers our go to place for beautiful camping experiences. Along with that,we always enjoyed going to the cafe and restaurant for tasty meals and ice cream. Very convenient! On this particular visit, we were shocked at the prices posted for most of the meals. The prices were even raised while we were there for a few days! We were very disappointed and will not be returning, sadly. We will drive to Dwight and enjoy the sights and the food!!

Nestled in the serene Algonquin Park, Killarney Lodge offers a rustic and all-inclusive lakeside retreat. The cozy cabins come with private docks and canoes for guests to explore the breathtaking surroundings. The warm hospitality and attention to detail make for an exceptional experience. With delicious meals, Aveda bath products, and thoughtful surprises, this gem of a lodge provides excellent value for a relaxing nature getaway.
Personable, focused on details and Michelin level food experience. My wife and I had seen the Killarney Lodge sign for years while camping in Algonquin park, this was the first time not camping and decided to stay here. From the greeting to the private cabin, the available activities to the perfect meals, I can not say enough about the service. I even learned one can walk-in for a lunch or maybe breakfast and dinner without staying, I wish I had known this when I was camping. The staff go out of their way, way beyond what they needed to help. If you are looking for a great experience for a big family get-a-way or a couples weekend, search no more, call them.

The place is stunning! Very relaxing and the food is amazing. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Except for one lady named Kim, who made us feel uncomfortable as Asian we felt that she is racist. The room is clean and excellent except that the fan is not big help on a really hot day.

Just spent three wonderful nights at the Killarney Lodge. The location was perfect to experience canoeing and hiking in Algonquin Park, with the comfort of returning to the cozy cabin each night. The meals were excellent and the convenience of a boxed lunch daily and supper delivered to our private deck was appreciated. We will not forget the sunrises and the sounds of the loons anytime soon.

We have been enjoying our anniversary dinner at Killarney Lodge for years. The food is amazing as is the service and atmosphere. This year we stayed at the lodge. The location and accomodations makes for a perfect park experience. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible. They included everything that we wanted for maximum comfort like self serve coffee, tea and fresh baked cookies in the lounge cabin. Overall all experience was like a warm hug.

Staying at Killarney Lodge for 3 nights was one of the best & most enjoyable things I’ve ever done. It was beautiful, perfectly located, relaxing, and all the little details of the property and the cabins made the stay feel that much more special. Exceptional service and we left probably 15lbs heavier than when we arrived due to the amazing food. Cannot recommend enough!!

Wonderful resort. The nature here is pristine and strikingly beautiful. Lovely team of staff members makes you feel like family. I stayed at one of the duplex cabins which was clean and comfortable and had a lovely dock with a canoe. You can swim off your dock or at the private beach. Two Rivers Lake is motor boat free and had no seaweeds. The water was very warm over the July 11, 12 2025 weekends and very clean. The food was fantastic, including 3 course fine dining dinner and a-la-carte breakfast and lunch. Please keep in mind that Kilarney Lodge and other lodges of Algonquin are not liquor licenses but you are welcome to bring your own alcohol into your cabins and into the restaurant and the team will provide proper glasses and bottle openers. Also, unlimited bottle water, soft drinks and snacks (chips, etc) is available anytime from the paddle shop free of charge during your stay and there is a coffee and cookies station. I truly recommend Kilarney Lodge.

The Algonquin Park Visitor Centre, established in 1993 to commemorate the park's centennial anniversary, serves as a comprehensive resource for visitors. It features captivating exhibits on the park's natural and human history, including a theater presentation that narrates the park's story. Additionally, visitors can enjoy amenities such as a restaurant, bookstore, and an observation deck offering stunning panoramic views of the landscape.
Great place to visit to learn about the history of the park in a nice and comfortable setting. They have a movie show every 20 minutes showing the history of the park over the ages. There is a museum with nice artifacts showing the various animals that are inhabitants of the park. There is a cafe where you can self-pay (cash jar) to get some basic vending machine type snacks. Restrooms are right at the entrance and are well maintained. There is also an art gallery near the entrance with many beautiful pictures of landscapes and animals.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Must-stop for first-time and returning visitors alike! The Algonquin Visitor Centre is incredibly well done — clean, welcoming, and packed with helpful information. The exhibits are engaging and educational, showcasing the park’s wildlife, history, and natural beauty. The panoramic lookout is breathtaking, especially in the fall! The Algonquin Logging Museum offers a captivating journey through the history of logging, from its early days to modern forestry management. Visitors can start their experience with a video presentation that provides an overview of the area's logging history before embarking on a 1.3-kilometer trail featuring outdoor exhibits and replicas of logging camps from different time periods.
Such an amazing place to visit in Algonquin! Start with their video presentation, then take the trail to “Visit the Past.” You’ll learn so much about history and the logging era. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great glimpse into Algonquin’s logging history! The Algonquin Logging Museum offers a really interesting and well-presented look at the park’s early logging days. The short trail is easy to walk and filled with life-sized displays and information panels that bring the past to life. The recreated logging camp buildings were a nice touch, especially for kids or anyone curious about how loggers lived. It’s peaceful, educational, and doesn’t take too long to explore. Lost one star only because a few displays could use a bit of maintenance or updating. Still very much worth the visit if you’re in the park!

My first visit to the logging museum was a delightful experience! The scenic trail, which took about 35 minutes to explore, is packed with fascinating information boards—perfect for those who love to dive into the details. The well-curated exhibits offer a wealth of knowledge about logging history, and the charming souvenir shop adds a nice touch. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable and educational outing that I’d recommend to anyone!

I had a great time exploring The Algonquin logging museum, the path was well guided and the whole area was quite idyllic. Each site had a corresponding bit of literature in the guide book that’s available at the start of the loop. It was a great tour, with a wealth of history! Shoutout Richard!

The Algonquin Logging Museum is surprisingly fun! You start by watching a 14-minute introductory film, and just when you think it’s over, the doors behind the screen open to reveal a trail that takes you through the history of logging in the area. Walking the trail and seeing the exhibits along the way makes the whole experience really engaging. A neat little gem if you’re curious about local history!

Hiking Trails
Located at kilometer 42.5 on Highway 60, the Spruce Bog Boardwalk Trail is a family-friendly 1.5-kilometer loop that offers an easy and enjoyable walk through a spruce forest and over a bog on a boardwalk. The trail features numbered posts and provides plenty of photo opportunities, including views of the giant moose signs along Highway 60.
Absolutely beautiful trail but be aware it is FULL OF FLIES that attack you consistently by landing on you non-stop during our visit in 9 Jun 2025! We recommend you bring an electric fly swatter to clear the hundreds of flies for the rest of us to have a nice visit 😆 But if you keep walking it's fine, the moment you stop & take photos & videos, you'll end up like us in the vid 😂 A very short walk - easy Plenty of parking space when we were there.. So go for it if you're already in Algonquin Provincial Park!

This trail is NOT wheelchair accessible, despite maps saying it is. I'll start this off by saying, I recognize that there is work that has gone into this to make it better, however it's still not up to code. Starting the trail off, there is a 2-3 inch drop from the parking lot onto the trail, which is very washed out (I recognize that it just rained) however the steepness of this section of the trail was also way too steep for a manual wheelchair, as I could barely control the speed going down the hill. There are multiple hills along the trail that are too steep in both directions, where I take struggled in my wheelchair. I believe (I may be incorrect) that the maximum lip allowed for accessible areas is 1 inch. Along several locations of the trail, there are roots that break the surface and cover at least half of the trail. The boardwalks are not a level surface for going along. In fact nearly all of them are askew sloping sideways. This needs to be fixed! The boardwalks also need a curb on the edges to prevent mobility devices from rolling off the edge. There were multiple times where if I didn't have as good of control of my chair as I do, I would have ended up in the water. At minimum a 3" tall curb along the edges of the boardwalk would be a huge piece of mind. The last section of the trail, there is a sandy section. Sand is very difficult to self propel and mobility device through. I really hope that the park staff make edits to this trail to make it accessible, like what they advertise it as.

It‘s very easy to walk. It takes less than an hour to walk around the circular route. There is a wooden plank road, which is very gentle and suitable for the elderly and children. This trail is not suitable for seeing red leaves, but more suitable for seeing wetlands and different plants.
Anqi Y — Google review
Nice and well done trail, very easy to do. Recommended for family but if you want to see some wildlife you must go as first early in the morning or during two last hours of light before sunset.

Hiking trails are one of my true enjoyments in life. Being out in nature and getting to see and learn about environments. The Spruce Big didn't disappoint. First it's in Algonquin Park, second it's short and on a very hot day that is important. Third it takes you through a variety of landscapes being shaped. It's living and breathing. Take the time to enjoy it. This is our planet and it is spectacular.

Nice trail. Very easy to walk. Great starter trail to warm up before you do the bigger trails or great as a finisher as you're already tired near the end of the day, trail starts off and the bog on the boardwalk and then goes off into the woods and around some wetlands around to see. Didn't see any any wildlife on the day we went, Good views and not a single bug

Beautiful boardwalk. Lots to see. Well maintained. Very clean. Not over run by people A great time spent in a beautiful location.

Nice easy trail, lots of ladyslippers. Mostly wooden platform trail, water was flowing pretty good and bugs are kind of thick. Pit toilets at the trailhead parking lot.

Hiking Trails
Lookout Trail is a 1.9-km loop hiking trail that offers a moderate challenge as it climbs to a panoramic clifftop lookout point. The trail involves a steep climb up a ridge and leads to stunning views of the surrounding area. It's suitable for all ages, with an easy gravel path that can be completed in about 30-40 minutes. The parking lot tends to get busy, especially during peak times, but there are alternative parking options nearby if needed.
Okay so we actually did the lookout trail South which is across the road from the lookout trail North. It's a little hard to find as you have to cross the road after you park but the trail is actually very nice and not crowded at all, there were a lot of leaves on the ground so a little difficult to Mark out the trail but not too bad. Elevation pretty good. Once you got to the top the views were all worth it, bring a picnic basket if you can and sit up on the rocks of the top and just enjoy the views
Brian S — Google review
Beautiful short hike with stunning views! Lookout Trail is one of the best quick hikes in Algonquin. It’s a short but steep climb, and the reward at the top is absolutely worth it — a breathtaking panoramic view of the forest and lakes, especially in fall. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. Not stroller-friendly, but great for a quick workout and amazing photos.
Nitin S — Google review
I visited on September 26th and initially took the wrong trail. Make sure to take the trail on the far left. Once you're on the correct trail, you'll see a sign indicating the lookout trail. The trail is a loop; the right side of the loop is longer and easier, while the left side is shorter, steeper, and much more challenging. We chose the left side, and it provided a good workout. The scenery was beautiful, and the lookout point was worth the effort. Be cautious when descending on the right side, as there are many rocks, which can be a bit slippery.
Through_Barb_Eyes — Google review
好伏Beautiful trail, especially in the fall! The path is easy to walk and surrounded by stunning maple trees. The colors were breathtaking, red, orange, and yellow everywhere. A perfect spot to enjoy nature and take photos of the fall leaves!
Joshua C — Google review
There are cliffs, and you need to pay attention to their safety when taking care of children. The view from the observation deck is good. The trail has an upward improvement, and it‘s a little tiring. It takes about 1.5 hours for ordinary people to walk (including taking photos)
Anqi Y — Google review
I loved going for a walk, appreciating nature and the colors of this fall season. It's not very long, it takes approximately 40 minutes to walk, and about an hour if you want to take your time taking photos and enjoying the view.
Sul — Google review
Short trail, but it's quite steep at times. Always overcrowding on the top. Check if the trail is open, as they close it during some busy weekends when people come to see fall colours. If it's open, there are two parking options available. Either lookout trail directly or at the parking near next trail, a short walk away.
Jane — Google review
Make sure to take the trail on the far left to reach the correct Lookout Trail. It’s a loop, with the right side being longer and easier, and the left side shorter but steeper. The walk is surrounded by gorgeous maple trees, and the fall colors were absolutely stunning — vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows everywhere!

Lake of Two Rivers Picnic Ground and Beach is a popular spot in Algonquin Provincial Park, offering stunning views of the lake and plenty of picnic tables for visitors. It's a great place for a family picnic, with clean beach water to relax by on hot summer days. The area also features minor hiking trails, benches, parking spaces, and pit toilets.
Awesome place to see the nature's true colors . Can't be captured on camera lenses but have to be clicked by your eyes and stored in your hearts hard disk for sure

Campground
Park
The Lake of Two Rivers Campground Office serves as the forest headquarters for campers, offering a small store, snack bar, and rentals for canoes and bikes. Situated in Algonquin Provincial Park, it provides stunning views of colorful foliage reflected on the water's surface. The park itself is the oldest in Canada and features a diverse mix of coniferous and deciduous forests, along with numerous lakes and rivers.
We loved this campground. The campground was very close to the a lot of the hiking trails situated essentially equidistant of the west and east entrances of the park. The campsite we had was quite large, but had little privacy but that is good if you are worried about encountering the bear. You know that you can be safe among many many people. Make sure to bring a tub to wash your own dishes because you can not do that at the washroom. The fire pits were nice because they had a great included on-top for cooking sausage. Overall, it was a great experience, and I am looking forward to returning to campsite number ###
Kris Z — Google review
One of the worst campground we have been in the past 4 years. Very busy, under staffed. 2 out of the 3 night we stayed, the comfort station was closed due to pumping issue. Due to that reason. no a single flushing toilet available in the campground, no shower available neither. Felt very sorry for the teenager who worked at the cafe, many people lined up for ice-cream but the cafe had no air-conditioning ( maybe broken?), hard to breathe while waiting in there, not to mention working there the whole day. Very crowded campsites, you can hear all sort of noise. No quiet time reinforcement. People were noisy past midnight. Many sites had more than 6 people camping. It was a nice park but not a nice campground at all.
Denise M — Google review
The campgrounds use to be exceptional. We camped this weekend and found the maintenance of roads and comfort stations deplorable. The rule change of no early checking even if the site is available causes checking lineups at 2 pm. I understand contracting out the services however the ministry oversight to ensure compliance with service requirements is obviously lacking. Any out of province or country visitors will leave with a unfavorable view of the campgrounds.
Boris P — Google review
Campgrounds are serene. No mosquitos was a plus. I shall visit Algonquin but maybe some other campground due to a couple of issues. Pros: - Beautiful lakeside with canoe rentals (private yet affordable $35 for 24 hours) - Lakeside allowed us a perfect night sky and mesmerizing sunrise in the morning - Serene campground Cons - Dusty roads make sure that you taste the flying dust everytime a car drives by - Beach was littered with poop even though it barred pets. Not sure whom to blame - people or authorities that were nowhere to be seen - Showers were closed the entire weekend. Perhaps they wanted us to take bath in the lake only - Toilets were unkept majority of time. Were closed Saturday evening. Caused a panic for families with kids. Basic necessity. Staff showed no urgency to fix anything, and guests were left to figure it out themselves. We had to drive 5 km to another campground just to use the bathroom. We definitely packed and left earlier than planned to get some relief.
Pan D — Google review
The park is wonderful but this campground is one of the worst I have ever been to. The sites have no visual barriers between them so there is zero privacy. It is like camping in a big parking lot. People were constantly wondering though our site. The roads were really dusty so there was dust on everything. The worst part was the washrooms. There are around 300 sites and only 2 washrooms. The first night there were lines for the toilets and longer lines for the showers. The floors were a sea of mud. They clearly don't have enough facilities for a campground this size. Things got worse our second 2 nights when the washrooms were closed for pump house issues. So no showers and the only options were pit toilets which also needed a lot of attention.
JCookIHBFL — Google review
Algonquin Park two rivers campground is under I'll equipped for real camping. The nearest place to get bags of firewood is at mew lake a few kilometers away and the entire area is picked clean of anything useable. The fire pits themselves are excessively large and block most of the heat from small economic fires with a grill set so high that you have to stand your logs against the back wall to cook anything

Two Rivers Lake is a spectacular place to camp, so close to nature and the imposing lake. You have all the services at hand to make your glamping quite comfortable without losing the sense of being with nature. The campsite staff keeps everything very organized and clearly defines what you can and can't do. will definitely be back!

Nestled within the wilderness of Algonquin Provincial Park, Mew Lake Campground offers a year-round escape for nature enthusiasts. The secluded sites cater to smaller RVs and provide options for electrical hookups or a tranquil setting in the radio-free zone. Visitors can enjoy spacious and well-maintained sites with picturesque views, easy access to hiking trails, and clean facilities including heated comfort stations. Wildlife sightings are frequent, adding to the allure of this peaceful retreat in nature.
This place has so much to offer! We were there for just 2 nights which later seemed not enough! By luck we saw moose two days in a row!!🫎We did Canoeing in Mew Lake. The lake is quiet and beautiful. For the first time I took my child by myself for canoeing which I was terrified to think before. Campgrounds are good. Staff is nice. Vault toilets are messy. Main toilet and shower are clean and good

We have been camping for about 13 years, visiting different Ontario Parks each year. We knew Algonquin was the oldest Ontario Park but never understood why we did not go sooner. Mew Lake was FANTASTIC! You can't go wrong booking in Algonquin. The trails were beautiful, the park was quiet and other campers were some of the most friendliest. The camp store at Lake of Two Rivers was the best camp store ever!! And only 5 minutes away. Camp sites are big and well maintained. My only concern was the parks staff all drove fast! I've never seen this in any of the 24 other parks we have camped in. The dust they made driving by was crazy! We stayed on site #52 and #60 (camping with our adult children and 3 dogs).
Jenny K — Google review
Beautiful little park but unfortunately so close to the highway we could hear traffic the entire trip. The section we were in also had no water and when I asked a park worker they said it was blocked and hadn’t been fixed with no indication of when it would be. Sounds like it had been not working for awhile. The beauty of Algonquin and access to hiking is why we booked it so all of the negatives were easily outweighed by the hiking and nature when we left the campground to enjoy it. If we were there to simply stay on our site and enjoy “nature” that way we would have been more disappointed as our site was about 40ft from the road. We knew it when we booked it but based on the map didn’t realize it was THAT close. Our site was quite large and plenty of space but a few closer to the lake were MUCH smaller so if you need space, don’t book a lakeside side, book on the opposite side of the road.
Matt T — Google review
Camped at mew lake 5 or 6 times, great area of algonquin. Few people with music to loud at night but to be expected as its a public park. Washrooms at the comfort station were a bit rough and the maintenance like door hinges, locks on the stalls etc need to be better looked after.

An unforgettable escape into nature. The campsite was peaceful, clean, and surrounded by stunning trails perfect for group hikes. We cooked under the stars, shared laughs by the fire, and truly disconnected. Ideal for anyone craving calm, connection, and a break from the buzz of city life. Highly recommended for group getaways or solo resets alike!
Yash C — Google review
Extremely crowded campground with constant noise from the highway, day and night, which btw will wake you up and not the morning sounds of the forest. The campsites are so close together that you can see and hear people at the neighboring sites all the time, no privacy or quiet whatsoever. I couldn’t sleep because people at the surrounding sites were snoring, sneezing, and blowing their noses. That’s how close everything is! The site itself is very dusty; there’s no real soil underfoot, just about half an inch of dust, probably from all the foot traffic. The outhouses are another story altogether; I’m sure there must be a way to keep the smell down a bit. The only thing I liked about this place is that there are great trails nearby and I saw some wild turkey and a family of bluejays came to our campsite and sat pretty close which was very cool. Our family definitely won’t be camping there again.

Site 77&78 we’re great sites for two tents. You have neighbours so it’s not private, but the waterfront is swimmable on 78 and you’re not far from the public beach. You’re close to the bathrooms and the drinking water station.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is a stunning destination nestled in the heart of Ontario, offering a plethora of outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque lake with its inviting beaches, explore numerous hiking trails, and marvel at a captivating waterfall. The park also provides campsites for those seeking an immersive outdoor experience and offers equipment rentals for added convenience.
One of the best provincial parks we visited. We came here in the summer for camping and the campgrounds are excellent. We cam in the winter and stayed in a cabin, which was awesome and very cosy. We visited for a hike in the fall and loved the trails and the waterfalls. Most recent time we visited for cross country skiing in early February. The trails are so well groomed, probably the best I've seen. We also enjoyed skating on the ice loop. Any time of the year this park was inviting and a lot of fun for the family and friends. You can rent skis and skates in the park if you don't have any and the rental equipment is fairly new and we'll maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very beautiful provincial park that we visited this saturday to see fall colors. You need to have a reservation beforehand to enter into the park. There are two lakes Mayflower and arrowhead. I loved the latter one for its beautiful view and ability to do kayaking in it. There is a beautiful huge visitor center with ample parking on site. The lake is just behind that. Lot of campsites, so it's definitely a good contender for summer/ early fall camping. The big bend lookout here is famous, and it's a splendid view in peak fall colors. There is a brown bridge over Arrowhead Lake that enhances its beauty, and you can capture really good photos there. Trails are nice. Washrooms were clean. We spent our weekend well.

In general, the park is great. It has a couple nice lakes & small rivers to paddle on. Some nice hiking trails and even a couple trails designated for mountain biking. Tried it all and enjoyed it thoroughly. However when it rained, our campsite, as well as our neighbour’s site became a pond; and not just a little area. This should not be happening nowadays. There’s a beautiful visitor centre.

Came here for the fire and ice! The weather was unforgiving but the atmosphere was great! We had lots of fun with the ice and snow! I loved the fresh snow here. We managed to do cross-county skiing as well as day and night skating! I loved that they had skating helpers.

Great Provincial Park in Huntsville that has a multitude of hiking trails ranging from 150m and up. From the moment you cross the park boundary until you get to your site you can’t help but constantly stare in amazement at natures wonder. Granite rising above the ground level and creeks and lakes offering hours of exploration. You’ll feel like you’re the first to view the sights and sites. Mayflower Lake & Arrowhead are both amazing lake to canoe , kayak or hike around. The Big Bend-only 159 meter walk to this sight from the parking lot. Find out how Oxbow Lake was formed. Stubbs Falls cuts it’s way through the Canadian Shield as it descends. I have completely enjoyed myself here this fall and shall return for winter events like FIRE & ICE.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is now in my list of top 5 provincial parks. Arrowhead in the Fall is awesome. The colors, hiking, biking and camping are excellent. Lions Lookout in Huntsville, the largest city in Muskoka, is a popular spot offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the city below. It's renowned for its stunning fall foliage, making it one of the best fall lookouts in Muskoka. The lookout is not only a great place to admire autumn colors but also serves as a starting point for scenic hikes. Despite being crowded at times, visitors can escape by exploring other viewpoints scattered around the hilltop.
This is a great lookout to see the city. The winding ride up the mountain was worth the effort and quite enjoyable. There is a gazebo at the top and plenty of spots to picnic. Parking is limited. The people are friendly. Take the time to read the etching on the rocks and gazebo. Whether for romantic date or family excursion, this is the spot.

You don't need to purchase advance tickets to visit this place. It's free for entry and open 24 hours. You drive all the way upto the lions lookout point on the top of the hill. Their is a small parking place on top. You can also find parking lot at the entrance of the hill near lookout sign. However, I recommend drive all the way to top if you wanna skip 1km steep hike Breathtaking Fall Views at Lions Lookout is a Must-See in Huntsville! 🍁 . If you're anywhere near Huntsville in the fall, a trip to Lions Lookout is an absolute must. I visited during peak foliage season, and the views were nothing short of magical. The entire landscape was painted in vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold — it felt like stepping into a postcard! The lookout offers a panoramic view over Fairy Lake, the Muskoka River, and the town of Huntsville, all framed by rolling hills ablaze with autumn color. Whether you're a photographer, nature lover, or just out for a peaceful walk, this spot won’t disappoint. The short hike to the top is a bit steep, but it’s well worth the effort. There are benches to rest along the way and once you reach the top, the scenery makes it all worthwhile. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset over the colorful treetops. **Tip:** Try to go on a clear day for the best visibility, and bring a camera — you’ll want to capture this view. Highly recommend visiting during the fall. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Muskoka to experience the changing leaves! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Really nice when you got up to the top, you can drive up and park there where space are still available or park below and hike up to the lookout (shuttle train in summer months). Do NOT go on a weekend 💀 The traffic was from the bottom of the hill to the top parking lot We luckily made a U-turn and parked somewhere else near by and made the walk up the hill which I wouldn’t recommend for anyone with mobility issues or seniors When I left to walk down the hill people were still in traffic going up the hill that I recognized when I was walking up, they didn’t get very much farther along. The actual viewing area is very over crowded. View is decent.

Lion’s Lookout is a lovely spot with great views over Huntsville, but be prepared for some parking challenges—especially on holidays or long weekends. The parking lot at the top can get quite crowded and there’s often a bit of traffic going up. If you don’t mind a short uphill walk, parking at the Heritage Place lot is a good alternative—it’s not far, though the slope is a bit steep. Funny enough, it always seems to be cloudy or rainy whenever I visit, so I haven’t seen the view on a perfectly clear day yet—that’s my little regret. Still, Huntsville is such a charming town that I always enjoy coming back.

Hardwood Lookout Trail

The Hardwood Lookout Trail is a short but rewarding hike in Algonquin Provincial Park, Canada. The trail, just under one kilometer round trip, leads to a scenic lookout point with stunning views over Smoke Lake. There's a bench at the top for resting and taking in the scenery. The trail can be hiked in either direction, with the counter-clockwise route offering a steady climb and the clockwise route being less strenuous.
Loved it and the hike was awesome. A short 1 km loop but it's a moderate hike. The lookout was nice but that view window needs some trimming for a better view otherwise branches and leaves obscuring the beauty. If hiking with kids, be very careful as it has a few cliffs on the way. Overall a good experience and a great workout. You may enter from the exit end and reach the lookout faster, easier, but what's the point then right. Might as well do the loop the right way and enjoy a nice workout. I noticed some graffiti on the benches, please keep it clean.

Great trail, not stroller friendly or wheelchair accessible. Relatively short, modest hike with a very average and moderate view, a perfect spot for quick trail in the jungle. Loved the time here. Beware of the bugs, they're going to buzz into you within seconds, bugs are all over the place, especially in June season. Carry bug repellant.

Nice trail, moderate for older people, easy for younger people. The views were idyllic and the breeze was amazing at certain parts. There’s a pamphlet at the beginning of the trail that you can hold for more information at each zone marker, they’re $2 each to keep. The mosquitoes were out so be sure to use your bug spray before heading out.

It’s a nice trail. 1 km of loop with view of lake at 9. If you are going there for lake view only, I would just enter from exit area and within 100 meters you will see look out at view. Hike is moderate and it was quite. I liked the trail and view. There is a bench to sit on towards the end, no washroom facilities

It’s a nice 1-kilometer loop trail that’s moderately difficult with some steep areas along the way. Decent place for a quick hike in a hardwood forest. The top of end of the trail also features a nice view of the Smoke Lake and a bench to relax and enjoy the view. There is a small parking lot at the beginning of the trail. Overall, a nice place for a quick hike with young kids.

Love this place! Tall trees, streams, good trail, nice lookout view. The trail goes up and down throughout but the scenery on either side is always lovely with the land stretching far out. The colourful leaves on the ground add to the beauty. We missed most of the fall colours but still enjoyed the hike. Pick up the ecology guide book at the entrance/sign and follow it on your walk. It was very informative which helped us appreciate the area more. This was my favorite trail so far.

Family-owned diner serving up traditional comfort foods and pizza in a comfortable setting, Family Place is revered for its friendly service and quality food. With regularly rotating menu options, Family Place is a popular gathering spot for locals, travellers, and seasonal residents alike.
We dropped in her for lunch. I ordered the chicken wrap with a soup $19 and my husband ordered the chicken tenders and the cream of broccoli soup $17. The food was delicious. The wait time wasn’t long. The server was friendly. The only thing i didn’t like was the wooden benches. They were not that comfortable,

Ambiance food service everything was good. I ordered their chef special Salmon and pasta. also ordered a all veggies balsamic flavour Pizza. The portion of the salmon and pasta and Pizza was good. It was bit overpriced will rate it 4.5 Stars. They have got good outside siting too.

This is one of the best local family restaurants I've come across. If you're tired of overpriced all-day breakfast places where you feel like just another customer, then try this place. The staff and patrons are friendly, food fresh and well prepared. Try the eggs and bacon with home fries and rye toast. Coffee is bottomless. We made new friends even in the parking lot.

Stumbled upon this fantastic little mom n pop restaurant and it was amazing. Very friendly & courteous staff, great food at reasonable price. The dinners we had were turkey with mashed potatoes and steak with roasted potatoes, which were prepared perfectly. Would absolutely return on our next pass thru Huntsville!

On a girl trip to muskoka, decided to go for breakfast here. It was very busy, a lineup waiting for tables! The staff offered to make up a table outside for us to sit at, which was our preference! The staff was amazing, so friendly! The food was amazing as well! I would come back here time and time again! Always support small businesses!

Happened to stop here for lunch while passing through Huntsville. It was so busy with locals flowing in for a lesiure Sunday lunch. You can tell without a doubt it's a local favourite. We tried the cheeseburger pizza since we were in the mood to try something different. The pizza was great, the pizza sauce was delicious. Just wish they were a little more generous with the toppings, just a tad bit more would have been great. They also have a bakery attached to it with delicious looking treats which we didn't try. We did however try the small batch hot sauce that they stock which was also delicious and just that right amount of heat and sourness from the vinegar. They also have a dog friendly patio outside with a large umbrella to shade you on a hot summer day.

Thank you for providing our MG102Fest car gathering with 30 pizzas. Our attendees devoured them and everyone said the pizza was great. 5 stars! Highly recommended for large group orders.

Honest to God, best pizza and wings I’ve ever had. The downfall - it’s 4 hours from home. They were so busy, yet so friendly and enjoyable. Food was fast and simply perfection. This is our go-to every year on vacation. Can’t wait for next year!

Restaurant
Nestled in a charming house with plank walls and a patio, 3 Guys And A Stove offers upscale classic Canadian cuisine, including breakfast. The menu features dishes with multi-level seasoning and layered flavors, drawing inspiration from various culinary traditions. The restaurant takes pride in its relationships with local farmers and producers, using naturally raised meats, poultry, wild fish, seasonal produce, and honey. Additionally, they have recently introduced an On Focaccia food truck for takeout and pickup orders.
Excellent service food and atmosphere! Waitress was very friendly, food amazing and fresh. I saw some other reviews complaining about the price, but you pay for quality and the portions are huge! I highly recommend it and I will definitely come back. This is the place to stop if you visit Muskoka / Algonquin.

Visited for dinner this past May long weekend with my party of 7. Had high hopes and unfortunately I felt let down - the portions are very small for the high high price point that is charged (they aren’t too far off from Michelin star Italian restaurants in Toronto from a pricing standpoint. I ordered the stuffed shrimp pasta and I would not recommend it. Very saucy and incredibly overdone on the heavy cream. I would suggest opting for their fish or meat dishes instead, the others in my party liked those dishes better. Service was good and atmosphere was nice and upscale.

As soon as you walked in, you’re greeted by the kitchen and the front desk. Introducing myself and talking to the Kitchen, I was referred by the chef to try the lamb shank and which I ordered with a local beverage and I must say it was delicious..

We had a reservation, it was our anniversary. We were brought to our table which was very close to the bar. The decor was tired with a formica tabletop and an oddly shaped booth. The end of the bar was completely crammed with dirty glasses. There was a musty smell. The table was not set. The waitress approached within 5 minutes of us sitting down to take our order, did not ask us if we wanted a drink, we had to ask. She came back with a basket with 4 small buns. No plates, no cutlery. After about 7 minutes I got up and grabbed cutlery and plates from a counter by the wall. The buns were dry and they were served with margarine. The waitress quickly appeared with our drinks and said “you beat me to it” —regarding the plates and cutlery. The Caesar I ordered had only a very small lemon wedge for garnish and no straw. I approached the bar and asked for a straw and was told that straws are not used in the establishment. The Caesar had a thick pepper rim, so it was unpleasant to drink without a straw. I could see the kitchen from where we sat. I saw an order of mussels sitting on the counter. They sat for almost 15 minutes. The waitress finally brought them to us. They were cold and rubbery. The waitress approached and I said they were unacceptable. She became flustered. I stated we would be leaving and cancelling our order as our experience was very dismal to this point. I was very upset as this was meant to be a celebratory dinner for our anniversary and this restaurant was highly recommended to us. I retreated to the parking lot. The waitress brought the manager over to talk to my husband. The manager stated our entrees were ready and he could box them up. My husband declined the offer. The waitress brought the bill for the drinks, the manager said he would take care of it. I just want to clarify that this was a Thursday night, it was not overly busy. There were many empty tables. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Such a disappointment! ☹️

We had such a great time at this restaurant. Our server Tracey was amazing super friendly and on point with everything. I had the short rib and it was phenomenal. My family got the pasta and the lamb shank and everyone was happy with their food. We ended the night with dessert and it was delicious. It was so good we even booked to go back the next day. Definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to.

We always have a magnificent meal here at 3 Guys and a Stove. It's been a few years since we have come but it was just as good if not better than all of the other previous visits! Our server was warm friendly and very attentive. Today we ate on the patio because we brought 2 fur babies and they were extremely accommodating bringing bowls for their food and water. All of the food was magnificently prepared. We started with their signature pumpkin soup has a very inviting flavor profile. For our mains tonight we ordered lamb shank, blackened white fish, stuffed shrimp and the braised beef short rib. All of which were beautifully prepared and the sides were also magnificent including the fresh pasta, rustic style mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, rice and assorted vegetables. Overall this is a fabulous meal with very generously sized portions. This was a perfect dining experience especially after a day of hiking in Algonquin!

3 Guys Muskoka. Highly recommended. Had the Moroccan meatballs / small Caesar salad (it’s huge and amazing) and drinks. Service was outstanding - I forget our servers name - red hair and super friendly. Drinks came fast / apps came fast and dinner arrival was timed perfectly. Restaurant was spotless and didn’t have to wait for a table - end of summer now and it’s quieter. I was last here awhile ago and it’s still a great place to go. It is more than your average spot up here but similar prices to the Keg. Go here. Very very good. You won’t regret it.

We went there because it was highly rated but we found out after the fact that it was just taken over by new owners. The food was below average. Steak was very hard and the flavor was odd and not at all what you'd expect for the price. Vegetables were large chunks of peppers, almost raw red onions and that's about it. Disappointing. Service was ok. Beautiful place inside though. I think they need to revisit their menu and seasoning and how they cook their steaks. Desert was the best part and that's about it. Unfortunately we won't go back and I would not recommend. I hope they make changes cause it's a beautiful restaurant inside.

Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. The reserve offers a charming main camp area with rentable cabins, free firewood, and remnants of its original logging days. Visitors can explore 100,000 acres of scenic drives, 100 lakes, and an extensive network of hiking trails. The base camp serves as the starting point for various activities such as camping, hiking, and snowmobiling in winter.
An unforgettable experience! Visiting the Haliburton Forest and Wolf Centre was one of the highlights of our trip. The forest itself is absolutely stunning — peaceful, well-maintained trails surrounded by nature at its best. The Wolf Centre is beautifully designed, offering an up-close yet respectful look at the wolves in their natural environment. The staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and truly dedicated to conservation and education. We loved the peaceful atmosphere, the interactive exhibits, and, of course, getting a glimpse of the wolves. Whether you're a nature lover, a family looking for an educational outing, or just wanting a serene escape, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Our recent family trip to Haliburton Forest and Reserve Area was absolutely wonderful! The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed, including a kitchen with all the essentials. My two 8-year-old daughters and I especially loved hiking the trails – the forest trails were tranquil. We swam in the lake and even met Galen, who takes such great care of the trails. He was incredibly helpful in showing us the trails. A big shoutout to Bella, the Wolf Centre guide, too. She was so knowledgeable and made learning about the wolves a fantastic experience for us. We also had an unforgettable time with the astronomy program. Our astronomer was incredibly patient and taught us how to spot different constellations, including the "teapot" and the Polaris star. We were amazed to see the Milky Way, a dying star, and other heavenly objects through the telescope. I also want to mention that the reservation responses from Melissa and Megan were prompt and helpful. I highly recommend Haliburton Forest to families with young kids – it's a perfect blend of nature and adventure!

A beautiful location. They have campsites, cabins for rent a small store on site. Apparently they have 350 km of groomed snowmobile trails in the winter. We went for the canopy walk. You start with a van ride into the forest in 'Van go' then an 800 m canoe ride that you help paddle across a small lake. From there you take a short hike to where canopy walk starts. It is a very tranquil location. Safety is number one priority. After you walk through the forest canopy you have a short hike back to the canoe for the trip back to the van. It was approximately 4 hours long. Well worth the price with a knowledge and friendly guide.

Extremely educational place to go! The staff are very passionate about their workplace, with good reason. There is an observation area to see the wolves, exhibits showing various wildlife, some of which you might not ever see live, and a short movie/video you can request to watch in their in-house theatre. The giftshop is very reasonably priced and has a little something for all age ranges. They encourage people to call ahead to ask if the wolves are out in view beforehand, which I think is a great idea. This was our sixth visit to this site, and it won't be our last.

We've been to the Walk in the Clouds on suspended bridges. Not for everyone...read the small print. The website doesn't specify details...and it may be scary for people with the fear of heights. Not suitable for little children. Besides; some of the boards seems to be deteriorated and in need for replacement. Same like some ropes holding the boardwalk need to be spaced in the right way. Very small washroom without the toilet paper before the trip! Practical advice: Bring your own toilet paper!

This place has had my heart for 30+ years. It was grown with the times but still has traditional camping at heart. The lots are private, the waters beautiful and the trails are doable. I try to come back every year even if it's just for a day pass hike.

Whiskey Rapids Trail is a popular 2.1 km loop in Algonquin Park, making it ideal for families and dog-friendly as long as pets are leashed. The trail offers stunning river views and tall, beautiful trees, especially during the fall season. Hikers should be prepared for some steep sections and roots scattered along the path. In winter, icy conditions may require proper footwear like hiking boots and crampons.
👍Easy walk 👍great view 👎lots of mosquito's 🦟 and insects. Take bug spray.

Nice short hike. Trail is heavily used and shows signs of heavy wear. Parking can be tough due to the number it visitors each year. Trails are easy to follow and are easy (minus 1 steep hill). Nice views of the Oxetonge river.

The first trail after Algonquin entered the west gate. It‘s relatively easy. The ground is full of natural steps formed by tree roots. But it is not suitable for the elderly.
Anqi Y — Google review
I came October 9 2025 and the water is very low so no rapids. There are a lot of tree roots on the trails that you can trip on if you’re not careful. Some parts are awkward so I wouldn’t recommend for elderly or toddlers. Seems dog friendly as I saw a few dogs No elevated views. But if you’re just looking for a nice and easy nature walk it’s pretty enough

Such a beautiful little trail. I only had a couple hours and this hike was the perfect amount of time. It's well marked and has a pretty clear trail! A few ups and downs for sure though! So wear shoes with good grip or bare feet!
Siobhan — Google review
Terrible trails. It’s literally such an ugly view, hard at times for no reason, you can’t even see the rapids properly because it all the trees, and idk why but the mosquitoes and flies in this trail are so aggressive. Like they’re flying into my face circling me. Honestly I get that it’s nature but like some trails are worth the view and the struggle and this was certainly wasn’t.
Karen M — Google review
An easy hike/walk through flat trails and some paved sections. We finished in about 40 minutes but it wasn't anything spectacular. The rapids were underwhelming and we didn't actually realize we had gotten to the "viewing" point. The area was also extremely buggy. The flies and mosquitos were relentless! We had used a LOT of bug spray, unfortunately it didn't help all too much. I would blame this on the time of year so perhaps this is not a good summer time hike. In all honesty, there are so many better trails in Algonquin Park, I would really just skip this one altogether.

Mizzy Lake Trail

4.6
(289)
Hiking area
Mizzy Lake Trailhead is a 10.8km looped path located in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario. It offers the opportunity to spot moose and beavers while passing through picturesque forest and wetlands, with nine ponds and small lakes along the way. The trail is known for its scenic beauty and is recommended for early morning hikes to fully enjoy the experience. Hikers should be prepared for a longer, moderately challenging hike with muddy sections and some technical terrain.
We have been hiking Algonquin for 10 years and have completed every trail in the park (many of them multiple times) but we had never completed Mizzy Lake. So we decided to change that today. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day. We started out at 9:30am and completed the trail just before 1:30pm. Total hike time was 3h 57min which included stops to take pictures and to have a quick lunch break on the trail. Although the trail distance is stated as 10.8km, it was actually 12km as per my Apple Watch. The trail starts out rugged with lots of rocks and roots. It then progresses to a nice easy hike on the old railway with spectacular views of various lakes along the way and the potential to spot various wildlife. The trail ends with another rugged hike through the forest but with lovely boardwalks and views along the water just before the final forest push to the parking lot. The trail is muddy throughout. Beware, at the 3.5km mark there is a short section of the trail under water. The water was above the ankle line so we had to take our shoes and socks off and walk through it for a few minutes. It was well worth it as after this section was the lovely flat old railway section with tons of lookout points for wildlife. We saw a raven in a tree and moose tracks in the mud but no moose or bear were seen by us today. We both used our walking sticks which we were particularly thankful for on this trail as it made the journey much easier. Wearing proper hiking shoes or boots is a must. As it was a Saturday, the trail was well populated with people which probably contributed to the minimal wildlife observed. Additionally, dogs are not allowed on this trail to increase the likelihood of viewing the abundance of wildlife. Overall this is long, rugged and muddy trail but with beautiful views of various lakes and bodies of water that it made it all worthwhile. Please note, if your predominate interest in hiking Algonquin is to view the fall colours, this trail would not be a top choice. Booth’s Rock, Centennial Ridges, Peck Lake, Hardwood Lookout, Track and Tower and The Lookout would be our recommendation for that. We are happy to say that we conquered Mizzy Lake and would definitely recommend it to those who are fit, have good balance, and don’t mind getting a little bit muddy.
Ryan W — Google review
Super trail! Hard work in snow shoes, took about 6.5 hours, but totally worth it. Saw moose tracks and beaver dams / tracks. The little guide from entrance gate is brilliant- would get for any of the trails.
Stuart W — Google review
Beauty of a trail, lucky enough to see 2 Moose, probably close to 50 turtles and other beautiful views! The hike can be a little muddy/marshy and a good chunk of tree roots for a lot of the trail that follows some lakes. Took around 4.5 hrs to finish with a pit stop for food!
Daniel W — Google review
Amazing loops with a lot of potential for wildlife and lots of benches along the trail. The whole loop took us 3.5 hours and we measured about 12km. Beautiful views throughout the entire hike as you hike along many lakes, ponds and streams. There are some muddy areas but avoidable with good balance and plan of attack. Would do it again.
Mitchell R — Google review
This was a really nice trail. We got here early in the morning in the fall. It was a brisk 0° c trail starts off really nice. Saw a really cool Beaver dam and Beaver house but he must have still been sleeping, nice boardwalks along the water, couple spots for muddy. We did see some moose tracks but did not get to see any moose that day, came across a large Raven that decided wanted to eat right out of your hand, saw a family of four otters playing in the water and eating and a grouses just walking along the path, we took our time. Took a few detours ended up doing this trail in about 6 hours and finished with 16 km, would definitely walk this one again
Brian S — Google review
Great trail, one of my favourites in the park. Takes around 3.5h with stops, but not difficult besides the length - lots of great views of lakes, swamp and wildlife. Saw a moose, blue heron, dozens of frogs & toads and lots of smaller animals, and the booklet is really interesting with cool info. Wouldn't recommend the side trail about 40% of the way through, there's no lookout and the trail is very hard to follow + lots of bugs
Reid M — Google review
Great hike! Goes through many diverse ecosystems and terrain…. much of the trail is knarly tree roots… fairly constant, so I think it may be why it’s considered “hard.” So imo srurdy hiking boots are a must . Took us 5 hours at a pretty constant pace, stopping for about half an hour for lunch.
J C — Google review
Loved this trail! Mizzy Lake Trail is approximately 11 km and requires an early start and a half day to do properly. Especially if you visit after rain, it gets really muddy and has areas where the water accumulates, taking longer to hike. Begins on the Arowhon Road just in from km 15.4 on Highway 60. The trail visits 9 small lakes and ponds and has views that maximize your chances of seeing wildlife, particularly moose and beavers. We did not encounter either, but the views were beautiful and varied along the trail. Dogs are not allowed on this trail because their presence would disturb many wildlife species. The trail leads through typical Canadian Shield topography, past ponds, marshes, and lakes. We visited after rain and we've encountered more than 30 types of mushrooms, so beautiful to observe and photograph. Highly recommended, one of the best hiking trails in Algonquin. Leave early in the morning because this hike will likely take longer than you expect. 5 hours in dry conditions, took us 8 hours in muddy and wet conditions (and with some stops for photography).

Booth's Rock Trail is a must-visit in Algonquin. It's accessed via a 15-20 minute drive off Hwy 60, leading to a small parking lot that fills up quickly. The clockwise route is recommended, featuring steep sections and stunning lookout points at the top. Exercise caution near the cliffs, especially with children. The trail includes a large staircase for descent and offers breathtaking views of the park.
Probably my favorite hike in Ontario. (so far😏) Medium difficulty hike 1 to 2 hours. The view at the top is great. 😎🦅 There are very old trees of just about every indigenous tree species you can find in Ontario. 🌳 They should name the oldest trees after people who have done significant good for the park in the area. 🌲

Its an awesome hike if you wish to witness the sun set beyond the hills with fall colors all around you. There’s one bit where the incline is steep enough to get your heart rate up but for the most part you could get through it with ease if you’re moderately active. Carry water as always

Such a beautiful view. Didn't expect a 5km walk/hike but it's really worth it when you reach the top. We also saw a moose right before the end of the trail.

Booth Rock Trail is a great 5km hike that took us less than 2 hours round loop to finish with plenty of stops for viewpoints, photos, and even lunch. It’s rated as moderately difficult trails in Algonquin however we didn’t find it as bad and we had a dog with us. It did have a rewarding lookout at the top. The fall foliage was quite nice when we went on September 30th! Definitely book your permit in advance and arrive early as parking is limited, and by the time we finished at 11am, the lot was already full.
Thushanthi B — Google review
I’ve done this trail in the fall twice and both times were great! This trail probably has more incline than the track & tower trail but definetly feels shorter in length. There are a few sudden drop off (cliff) spots so just keep an eye out for those if you have pets/kids with you.
Hayley K — Google review
This is a great hike with rewarding views. Like most of Algonquin Park, I'd not recommend it for beginners, but it should be quite accessible to hikers with a moderate level of experience. The final portion of the hike (the "down" part) has some friendly staircases to assist in getting back to lake-level, following that an easy jaunt out to the finish - check to see how the beavers are progressing on their dams! Spectacular views at the top of the trail along the cliffline. Budget a couple of hours to walk at your own pace and expect a fair amount of upward travel.

Hiking Trails
Centennial Ridges Trail offers a rugged and steep hiking loop through forested ridges, providing hikers with magnificent views of Algonquin Park and its lakes. The trail is well-marked, making it difficult to get lost, and features lookout points that offer breathtaking vistas. Hiking during rainy periods can increase the challenge due to muddy conditions, but the views are worth it. The 10km loop is not overly difficult but includes many ups and downs, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
This trail is great and reading some of the reviews on different sources i was expecting something way more challenging. Given the quantity of water in all the different lakes it was hardly surprising that there was mud. There were points where we were walking below some water levels. I did see some complaining about this mud not being sufficiently cleared up which I didn’t really understand. Anyway this is in my opinion a beautiful walk, in the countryside and I am genuinely thankful for the opportunity to visit places like this.

Absolutely oustanding gorgeous trail!! One of my favourites, long and not super easy but although it's a little challenging the effort is worth it! Its doable, not too difficult. Views are stunning, trail is very diverse, swamps, lakes, rocks, cliffs, mountain views, forest paths... We took breaks on the way to enjoy the nature, it took us 7 hours. Definitely go there!

Great trail to see fall colours. Went on a monday morning and it was not as crowded as it would on weekends. This is pretty popular trail in Algonquin, hence i decided not to go during weekend to beat the rush. The trails take around 6 hours. I finished it in 5hours, took moderate intervals during view points. Without stopping you can easily finish it in 3.5 hours. Its pretty moderate to hard trail if you are not an avid hiker, however its totally doable by any fitness level, it will just take more time. There are 12 viewpoints which are numbered. Few of the view points are pretty nice nearing the end of the loop. Overall 10/10 hike!

Absolutely beautiful hike, especially during the fall foliage! The views along the trail are stunning and totally worth the effort. I’d rate it as moderate in difficulty — a good challenge without being too tough. I went on a weekday morning right at opening, and it was peaceful with very few people on the trail. There was plenty of parking available, though access to washrooms was limited, so plan ahead. Overall, a fantastic experience and one of the best viewpoints in Algonquin!

Beautiful trail! Not a very difficult hike if you have hiked before, but the roots and rocky uneven ground could pose as challenging. Did in 4hrs with stops and a snack break. Vault toilet in the parking lot. Parking lot gets crazyyy busy, we started before 9 and it was only a couple cars in the lot, after it was packed and people had blocked others in. The most scenic side was probably points 10 and 11.

A moderate to difficult 10.4 km loop depending on your fitness level. The trail was well marked and kept by the park rangers. The terrain had good elevation gains that kept you at a good pace without feeling exhausted. We completed the trail in 5 hours versus the expected 6 hours, and we took many stops to soak in the views.

A stunning trail with absolutely breathtaking views. Definitely one of the best hikes in the area. The path is well-maintained and mostly easy, with just a few sections that involve some moderate climbing. The suggested time of six hours is quite an overestimate. With some hiking experience, we completed the entire loop in just under three hours, including plenty of stops for photos and a lunch break. Absolutely worth it!

Centennial Ridges Trail is one of my favorite hikes in Algonquin Park! I go every year ,always stunning views and peaceful nature. This year was warmer, and the leaves fell earlier, but the scenery was still beautiful!
