The Rum Runner Restaurant and Pub in Coleman, Alberta is a family-style restaurant offering a variety of homemade soups, fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps, and smaller meals. The menu includes options for add-ons or substitutions as well as a selection of beverages such as wine, beer, and cider. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful view and fresh air while savoring the natural surroundings.
Stopped here at the recommendation of a friend and I'm so glad we did! Had nachos and the most amazing Ceasar I've had in a long time. The decor and atmosphere are 10/10 and the servers did an incredible job. You definitely should stop in sometime!
Laura S — Google review
Small pub eatery. Great atmosphere, but unfortunately (for us) we were placed at table that is by patio exit (tremendously busy in/out traffic with door banging each time at left shoulder. Other than that, would definitely go back!! Elk burger was great, lime/coconut shrimp were huge!
Bill F — Google review
Had a great meal at The Rum Runner! The food was well-prepared, beautifully presented, and tasted fantastic. I had a hearty bowl of chili and a bacon cheeseburger—everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was also top-notch; the staff were friendly and attentive, which really added to the experience. Inside, the restaurant gives off a cozy, rustic cabin feel that makes you feel right at home in the mountains. It’s a perfect atmosphere for relaxing after a long day of exploring the Crowsnest Pass. The only downside was the washroom—it was not very clean, and unfortunately, the faucets were broken. Hopefully, they address that soon because everything else was excellent. Would still recommend it for the food, service, and vibe!
Miguel P — Google review
Honestly not worth it. My salad had dry chicken and not only did not have enough dressing but served it on the side! For $25 do better Rum Runner, it should be mixed together. Our food took over 25 minutes and no one did a quality check for over 15 minutes after receiving our food. Just skip this place it if you can.

Driven by multiple times and finally stopped in! I had pizza that was crazy good and the wifey had a steak blue cheese salad and her joy was almost unmeasurable! Will be back.

The first time i.ate here I dubbed the grub the best burger Iv'e had...they make their sauces from scratch and that goeas a long way. Great old wooden bar, the building with huge vaulted ceilings is from 1914. I had the fish last time and was surprised at how much salad they fit into the bowl

I came here to eat for the first time ever, despite being a local to the area. Went on a Saturday late afternoon towards early evening with my family and friend. The place was already packed. Waited maybe 5 to 10 min for a table. We were a table of 6 ( 3 adult- 3 children) and we both compromised for a table for 5 and we both made it work, the waiter and I. The staff and my waitress was very kind and patient with us. Waited maybe 20 min for food. (to be expected). Totally worth the weight. The food was delicious, and they got all our orders right, the atmosphere was nice, very welcoming restaurant area. Waitresses kept checking on us to make sure everything was good. Which it was. I could see myself going there to eat everytime I happen to be in that area. I recommend stopping in if you ever get the chance.
Merlin P — Google review
The servers where great. Every couple mins. Good drinks. But seemed the rest of the staff would rather spend time at the bar than doing their job. I ordered the nachos and came out within 5 mins... still cold in the middle. Had to send back. Did not taste great. Asked for it to go. When I packed up my own food I fou d the tray it was served it was absolutely disgusting and baked with old food and rust. I almost puked. Refused the food. Service good.... don't eat there or possibly get sick

Hiking area
The Miners' Path, located near the Crownest Museum in Coleman, was historically used by miners commuting to the McGillivray Mine from 1909 to 1957. The trail offers a blend of nature and history, with iconic nearby sites including Lundbreck Falls and Frank Slide. For winter sports enthusiasts, Pass Powderkeg and Fernie Alpine Resort are close by. A family-friendly walk, it takes about 50 minutes to reach the waterfall at a leisurely pace.
Very easy trail. Some sketchy aspects of roots, rocks, and even path supports that are sticking out, but still very hikeable and easy for almost all abilities. There are benches all along the path as an added bonus. Maybe, like us, you might wonder what a gate is doing in the middle of the trail, but that just adds to the fun!
J R — Google review
We have driven past this location for years and we finally took the time to stop and see what this was all about. It was easy to negotiate and not far to walk. The falls are at the end and are quite nice to see. With the snow melt, the water flowed heavily across the canyon. It was well worth the stop.
Irwan M — Google review
Lovely hike to the waterfalls. There is another trail above the falls as well, that you can access from stairs before the falls or after them. We took the one before and it was quite picturesque coming down to the falls. Picnic benches at the parking area and at the start of the trail.
Dale H — Google review
1 km trail along the playful stream...shaded by fragrant majestic trees and lush undergrowth...well- maintained.... historical...walking back in time...leads to small waterfall (saw a rainbow in its mist!) and shallow pool to sit on rocks and cool your feet!
Christine B — Google review
Nice shady path along a relaxing creek. Good for the gam jam because there are picnic benches, pickleball/tennis courts and a FREE water spraypark with flush toilets. It ends at a waterfall that can make that part slippery so careful with the young/elderly! Its off Flumerfeldt park. Turn right at the school if youre headed west and you cant miss it. Its also beautiful in winter tho we've encountered some VERY icy stretches. Enjoy!!

Very easy and short hike to a nice small waterfall. Suitable for all ages.
Gordon P — Google review
*Family of 5 review* It took us 50 minutes to get up to the waterfall. It is a fairly short walk but with kids expect to stop many times. You can see history all around the trail. My kids loved it! The waterfall is small but beautiful. Expect it to be hard getting around the rocks around the waterfall. Not wheelchair/stroller friendly at all. In the parking lot there is a volleyball court as well as a spray park. You can take pictures with the biggest piggy bank in the world.

Nestled in the heart of Crowsnest Pass, Cinnamon Bear Cafe is a delightful stop for anyone exploring this stunning region. This charming cafe offers an array of baked goods, hearty lunch options, and a variety of hot and cold beverages that are sure to please both locals and visitors alike. The inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect place to relax after a day spent wandering through lush forests or alongside sparkling rivers.
Tried this cute bakery today and it was amazing! A fresh tray of their homemade cinnamon buns came out right as I was ready to order. I tried a spinach feta pastry and a cinnamon bun w cream cheese icing. Both were fabulous! The Staff were super friendly and offered to warm up my order. I will definitely be a regular here now and can't wait to try more of the menu 😍

Stopped in today to grab some sweet goodies unfortunately when I got there not much was left. Grabbed cinnamon bun let me tell you this cinnamon bun was like a day old or something so hard to break and chew. Charged me like 9$ for it if it was fresh sure but not when it’s day or 2 days old I attached a video check it out can see it inside dough looks old and hard. Do better next time
Oli V — Google review
This is the BEST place to come for coffee. All of the baking is awesome but there are no words for the cinnamon buns. So good that you cannot buy more than 4 at a time - you have to pre-order. Sat inside and had our coffee and treats and watched the line continually refresh. This is a MUST stop if you are ever in Coleman!
Colleen K — Google review
Popped in here for the first time as a recommendation. We came around 4pm and there was nothing behind the glass counters. There were 3 staff in there cleaning and probably preparing to close. Not one person said hi so we left. We can back two days later first thing in the morning, not a ton of options behind the glass. Lots of cinnamon buns, rice crispy squares, small chocolate danishes and butter tarts. The girl was very friendly. We ordered one black coffee, a steamer and a latte with one cinnamon bun. Came to $19. The cinnamon bun was great 10/10, it was more like a super soft bun with cinnamon coating, not too sweet. Icing is an extra $2 if you want it. The latte was not good, it was one shot of espresso and it mostly tasted like steam milk. Probably wouldn’t be back unless I had a bad craving for a cinnamon bun.
J B — Google review
I’m honestly not sure why this café has such high ratings (perhaps it's known for their coffee and cinnamon buns)— our experience was far from impressive. We went for lunch based on the reviews and left very disappointed. The sandwiches were overpriced, dry, and stale with barely any mayo or mustard. The sausage roll had to be heated by us in the microwave next to the meat cooler, and there were no condiments available. The café itself is quite small, with only a few tables, and there were no diet drink options available — disappointing for someone like me who is diabetic. This place could have great potential if they improved the food quality, added more variety, and focused on customer experience. Heating up my own sausage roll isn’t what I expect when dining out. On one sausage roll, two sandwiches and one pop it was $29... And I didn't even want to eat the sandwich

I’ve always loved the Cinnamon Bear Café and stop there every time I pass through the Crowsnest Pass. It’s usually a great little café with friendly staff and tasty baked goods. Unfortunately, today’s visit was really disappointing. I ordered a flat white, but what I got tasted more like a bad latte — way too hot, no proper microfoam, and missing that smooth, velvety espresso flavor a flat white should have. For reference, a real flat white should be a balance of rich espresso and silky, steamed milk — not scalding or foamy. They were also almost out of baked goods, and while the two young girls working were friendly and helpful, it was obvious they haven’t had proper espresso training. Sad to say, this was not the usual Cinnamon Bear experience I’ve come to expect. I really hope it was just an off day, because I’d love to keep making it a regular stop.
Jason E — Google review
Pastry was good however there wasn’t much for options. No Cinnamon buns. The espresso was disappointing. Ordered two lattes and both tasted more or less like steamed milk. Even with 3 shots of Espresso in a 16 oz I found it terribly weak.
Jessie — Google review
The minute I opened the door to Cinnamon Bear Cafe my senses were sparked by the aroma of fresh cinnamon buns. This cafe sells a wide array of cookies-and they are huge cookies!! They also sell sandwiches, soup, and a variety of gluten free items. I appreciated seeing hand sanitizer when I walked in and there is plenty of room for social distancing. They sell locally brewed coffee, locally sourced honey and mugs from local potters. The staff was so friendly. I will definitely go back!

The Pass Beer Co. is a popular spot in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, offering small-batch craft beers and wood-fired pizzas. Whether you're a local, weekend visitor, or just passing through the area, this establishment provides a chance to savor Alberta craft beer before heading into British Columbia. The venue features a large outdoor patio and beer garden with views of the Rockies as well as a bright taproom and kitchen.
Late-night legend status unlocked. Rolled into The Pass at 8:40 PM — 20 minutes before close — starving and bracing myself for the usual “kitchen’s closed” speech I often get in small towns as a traveling night photographer. But nope. These angels in aprons not only fed me, they treated me like I had all the time in the world. Got to catch the tail end of the Oilers game, and when I started worrying about my pup in the car, I asked if I could move from the bar to the outdoor picnic area. Not only was it a yes — they brought me my drink out there and even gave my dog some water like the good boy he is. Who does that?! (Apparently, The Pass does.) Also… let’s talk about the Quarantine Pizza. Truffle oil + balsamic = dreamy late-night carb magic. Kind people. Warm food. A patio that lets you hang with your pup. 10/10 unexpected gem in the Crowsnest Pass. Highly recommend this place — especially if you’re a road-weary traveler in search of kindness, comfort, and pizza that slaps.
Sofia K — Google review
My first time in this pub/brewery and I was impressed to say the least. My friend and I decided to stop in for one but didn't really have time to order food although the menu looked great. After quizzing the server about the beer menu, I ordered the Mexican Lager and my friend had a citrus ale. Enjoyed the atmosphere here and plan to return to try the food and other craft beer items. We inquired about off-sales and a different server recommended getting a variety 4-pack that we allowed to handpick. Of course, we did just that...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down one of my favorite stops in Crowsnest! The pizza? Chef’s kiss. 🍕✨ We had an amazing time on the patio with great food, great company, and even better vibes. Loved the sense of humor throughout the place… the bathroom signs alone deserve their own five stars 😂👏 Highly recommend The Pass Beer Company if you’re anywhere nearby, especially in the summer. Patio season + fresh pizza + award-winning atmosphere = perfection. Bonus points for the adorable dog sign when you walk in 🐾💛 The Pass-a-Rita is so frickin’ refreshing… bet you can’t just order one 🍹 The cheesy breadsticks? Soft, garlicky, melty perfection… I’m still dreaming about them 🧄🧀 And the Spicy Veggie pizza? Absolute fire in the best way 🔥🌱 You can really feel the love this family puts into everything they do. 10/10 recommend.

We stopped in at The Pass Beer Co. and were immediately greeted by friendly staff and quick, attentive service. Everyone in our group ordered pizza, and every single one was delicious—we all really enjoyed them. Because it was summertime, the big doors were open to let in the warm breeze, which created a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, it also meant there were quite a few flies buzzing around the whole time. Some even landed on our food and drinks, which was a bit unpleasant. Overall, the tasty pizzas and great service made for a solid visit, but we’d love to see a solution to the fly issue so the experience matches the quality of the food and hospitality.
Kenneth G — Google review
Been going here for a long time, always spectacular brews. Even the days of filling a growler at the window lol! Wood fired pizzas… amazing! Great atmosphere, great patio. All around amazing. Can get busy, so be aware.

Madison at The Pass Beer Co. was amazing! She was super friendly, welcoming, and really knew her stuff when it came to the beers. She took the time to explain the different options and made some great recommendations that were spot on. The atmosphere was already great, but her energy made it even better. Definitely the kind of person who makes you want to come back again.
Aaron B — Google review
This review is long overdue. I have made sure to stop in to The Pass Any time I’m down that way biking hiking, etc. I had another five star experience today. The food is top-notch, especially the sourdough crust pizzas! They also offer some of the best craft beer going. It’s one of my favourite places anywhere. The entire staff is amazing. They are extremely attentive, friendly, and engaging. Service is fast and you’re always checked on. I was shocked to see the recent one star review. That person must’ve been having a really bad day and decided to take it out on this fine establishment. I highly recommend The Pass If you’re into great food, creative craft beer and the nicest friendliest staff around.

We were visiting from Wales UK for the Divide 200 race, and wow what a little gem. It had already been reccommended to us as a must visit place and it didn't dissapoint. We love our craft ale and the coices and quality were fantastic, I'm a vegetarian and the staff were really helpful. We also came with the kids and they were well looked after and had a lot of fun with the outside activities.

Course that punches well above its weight. Having played various mountain courses throughout the years this one has a special place in my heart. Course was in perfect shape the day we played, staff was friendly, and the views were spectacular. Comparitively cheap when referencing other courses in this tier. A must play if your in the area!

Finally had the time to try the Friday night prime rib buffet. First, the restaurant was packed, plus there was a large private event on the deck. We were grateful we'd thought ahead to make a reservation so we were seated immediately. Despite the large crowd, the buffet was full of food, and everything was hot and fresh. The food was excellent, the prime rib perfectly cooked. Service was very good and we'd go again. The only critique (and is a very tiny one) would be to have some nut free dessert selections, and better serving tools for the cheesecake, etc. All in all, a wonderful night out, and reasonably priced for the excellent quality.

We’ve held numerous snowmobile club events at the Crowsnest Pass Golf Club, and every time has been fantastic. The clubhouse is a great venue, and Scott goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. Couldn’t ask for a better spot to host an event—highly recommend the Crowsnest Pass Golf Club!

Super friendly and efficent staff, and a bright clean atmosphere for dinner. Visited with a friend for the Friday night Prime Rib buffet for a 7:30 pm reservation. It was too dark to enjoy the amazing view, but it did cast a lovely outline of the mountains with the last rays of light. Dinner was delicious - all of the sides were tasty. My only disappointment is that the desserts got removed before I had a chance to partake- that's on me though. I suggest grabbing your dessert of choice with your meal to ensure you get to enjoy it. Good value for the delicious meal. I recommend visiting!

Leitch Collieries Provincial Historic Site, located in Crowsnest Pass, was once a major Canadian-owned coal mine. Unfortunately, the enterprise faced challenges such as strikes and financial crises during World War I, leading to its closure. Despite this, the site's infrastructure has endured over time. Visitors can take a walking tour of the area and learn about the history through interpretive statues.
A beautifully restored old mine in the Crowsnest pass. You can see plenty of ruins scattered about the site as well as many restored buildings. My favorite part is the coke kilns that you can walk across ( cautiously of course ) we did see snakes in the area! 🐍

So much history and explanation about the mining operations here and how they worked. For being the only soleyCanadian owned mining operation in Canada, it definitely stands out. Amazing fish and chips, and excellent customer service! The fish and chips were fresh with an very good batter and well seasoned. The portion size is also very generous! Worth the drive from Fernie! (The fish and chips are also not beer battered)

Vito's is a fantastic family restaurant, with friendly service, superb atmosphere, and impeccable food. Upon entering, the staff and owner were talking with us to ensure our experience was as comfortable as possible. They promptly took our order with a smile, and our appetizer (the best onion rings I've ever had) were served a short 13 minutes later. Everyone's meal was brought out at the same time. Each meal was hot and stayed hot throughout the entire experience. Every dish exceeded expectations, they were large, hot, and tasted absolutely incredible. By the end our stomachs were full, and minds were happy. No one rushed us out, even though we stayed past closing. The waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. The only concern we noticed was a slight draft near the windows, however totally manageable. The plus side to the windows, they are in a perfect location for people watching. Would love to dine again, phenomenal experience. I strongly recommend to everyone who gets the chance!

Easy to find, ample parking. Lots to chose from on menu. We went with server recommendations: baked spaghetti (they make their own sauce, very tasty) and steak. See photo and take note this was only 1/2 order pasta size! Both the steak and the baked potato were over cooked but still enjoyable, steak was very tender. Service was great - considering she was solo and had almost every table full. She was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ambience was ok - the place was clean and that’s all that mattered to us. Will return to try the pizza next!

What a little gem!!! We decided to try this restaurant on whim today on our way back to BC, and what an amazing little treasure it was. We don’t see a lot of family owned, small restaurants where we live and it is always a pleasure to find one with such wonderful food and a true homestyle energy in the establishment. We were greeted kindly by the owners when we came in and invited to sit wherever we like. Our food came out quickly and the gentleman serving us, presumably the owner, was such a sweet person! The best French onion soup I’ve had possibly in my whole life - and I am always trying new ones! I had the lasagna supreme and my husband had the beef dip - both were absolutely delicious, and very generous servings. I wish we had room for dessert! We would genuinely drive the 3 hours just to have dinner here and drive back so if you have the opportunity to try it, especially without the drive, do not make the mistake of passing up on this awesome restaurant!

Nestled in the charming Crowsnest Pass, Chris' Restaurant is a delightful spot that promises an unforgettable dining experience. While the menu may not be readily available, patrons can expect a variety of options tailored to different tastes, including gluten-free selections upon request. Renowned for its hearty home-cooked meals, this eatery has garnered praise for serving some of the best breakfasts around. Diners rave about generous portions and affordable prices that make every visit worthwhile.
I absolutely love this restaurant and have made it a tradition to stop in every year when we pass through on our summer road trip. The food is delicious, the prices are incredible and the friendliness and service is outstanding. I'd eat here daily if I lived nearby. They were even kind enough to accommodate us close to closing. It's got such a great small town feel, the real deal, the way it used to be. Coffee served in proper brown mugs. Thank you so much and can't wait to return!

Chris is gonna have to get a 5/5 because it has everything you need in a classic diner. Busy so you might wanna call to book a reso and ensure a spot. I had fries and gravy w the burger w ham on it (I forget the name) prices? Great, portion size? Great 👍 go see for yourself!

The old town district is not what it once was. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this establishment. All I can say is, "Wow, what a hidden gem 💎 The staff are friendly and pleasant. The food and portions are like a home cooked meal. Prices are reasonable.

We camped near Coleman for two nights and decided to check out Chris' for dinner on the first night. So glad we did. The food was fantastic. Home cooked comfort food. Big portions and great prices. It gets VERY busy (we were there on a Friday evening) so reservations are recommended and be aware you might wait a bit for your food, but it's worth it. We enjoyed it so much we went back for breakfast another day. Also fantastic. Highly recommend the roast beef dinner and the omelettes.

Crowsnest Pass Pizza is a popular spot known for its delicious pizzas with just the right crust thickness and a perfect balance of crispiness and chewiness. The sauce has a nice level of spiciness without being overwhelming, and the toppings are fresh. While some wish for more edge-to-edge toppings, it's not a deal-breaker. Customers appreciate the quick service, friendly staff, and fresh ingredients used in their pizzas and salads.
Didn't have high expectations dropping in late at night, but I was pleasantly surprised. Super reasonable prices and a pretty tasty pizza. Got the donair pie.

This was an AMAZING place to eat for the night! If you want to have a good wood-fried pizza, then come to this place. Every single one of my family members just absolutely loved the food and waiters. They even have a chalkboard you can let your kids draw on. Also a great place to bring the buddies to have a beer. Top notch. Would recommend. The only critique is that the waiters were a bit slow and just a smidge clumsy, other than that one tiny thing it's an amazing place that is a must see. 9/10!

Our favourite local pizza place! Wonderful service, good pizza and other things like wings and samosas. The food quality is consistent, they also have a quite good gluten-free crust, and a nice family who own and run the business. After the lovely couple who owned Five Rivers retired, we were happy to discover Crowsnest Pizza and happy to give them our business going forward. :)

We ordered 2x 12" pizzas with unlimited toppings, one was basically a Canadian and the other Alfredo Chicken with tomatoes and honey garlic wings. The server was so kind, she made it into a combo deal where we got a 2L pop and saved money. The pizza was loaded with cheese and cooked perfectly. The wings were nice and crispy with sauce already on the side so it didn't get soggy on our way home. Great service and great food.

If you're exploring the picturesque Crowsnest Pass, make sure to stop by Tim Hortons for a quintessential Canadian breakfast experience. This beloved chain is renowned for its premium-blend coffee and delicious light fare, including pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or enjoying your meal in the cozy atmosphere, you'll find that Tim Hortons delivers on quality and taste. During my visit, I was impressed with how efficiently they handled mobile orders; mine was ready just as I arrived!
Tim Hortons in Crowsnest Park during a road trip, and it was the perfect break. The staff were super friendly and quick, even though it was a busy time. The coffee was fresh and hot, and my breakfast sandwich was made just right. Clean washrooms, beautiful mountain views outside, and plenty of parking. A reliable and comforting stop in a stunning location. Highly recommend if you’re passing through.

Used to live here, swore off this place. Passing through today..... and decided to gra myself a bagel. Toasted, herb and garlic cream cheese and 3 slices of bacon. This is bloody ridiculous. And its constant here. Lazy and RUDE employees. Never ever again

Tim Hortons in Blairmore is usually quite busy, especially during peak hours, but I’m impressed with how quickly they get orders out. The staff are friendly and provide very nice service, making the wait feel worth it. Great place to grab a coffee on the go!

I'm not usually one to complain, but this was the worst bagel I've had at Tim Hortons. It was stale, burnt, and the cream cheese wasn't spread. 👁️👄👁️ The young lady who gave it to me looked like she wanted to laugh, that should have been my first sign to check my food before leaving... 😿

This is what you get when you order a 4 cheese sausage bagel also glad I didn’t advance order online because they supposedly didn’t have the 2 drinks I was going to order on the app that it let me choose. The iced caps we did receive were super watery we live in the area used to go here often and it was really good service. We haven't been for a while and sadly disappointed of what one of the few fast food businesses in the area has become. (As you will see in my other reviews I support many new Canadians however in a drive through where it depends solemnly on verbal communication a language barrier probably doesn’t benefit a business.)
Jackie H — Google review
Picked up a mobile order and it was ready and waiting when I arrived. Ordered about 10 minutes and advance and food was still warm. Nothing exceptional but reasonable clean inside and food was how I order and expected so can’t complain. Could have been a bit more friendly as I said thanks on the way out and didn’t even get a glance but hey.. Gets pretty busy sometimes but that’s not really their fault. If it’s a busy time maybe just skip it and come another time.
Jayden H — Google review
Out of four different donuts, only one was fresh. Total waste of money. The one donut was the only edible one. The rest were thrown out. Making fresh donuts should be the priority. Never mind the pizzas and fries. Super disappointing. We were there at 3:30 pm on August 31, 2025.

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre is a must-visit landmark that commemorates the tragic 1903 landslide in the Canadian Rockies. It offers a comprehensive look at the rich heritage of the Crowsnest Pass and features interactive displays and exhibits focusing on the infamous event. The center provides an insightful experience with knowledgeable staff, dynamic interpretive programs, and presentations. Visitors can also enjoy a film dramatizing the tragic events of 1903 and explore trails leading to the slide site.
What a sad story. The center is very educational and extremely well done. When you explore the interpretive center you get an idea of what happened. When you go outside and see the slide itself, its absolutely humbling. The shear size of the slide is mind blowing. This is a fitting place to learn the story, and pay your respects.
Paul K — Google review
The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre offers an incredibly moving and educational look into one of Canada’s most dramatic natural disasters. From the moment you step in, you’re surrounded by breathtaking views of Turtle Mountain and the massive rockslide that buried the town of Frank in 1903. The exhibits are immersive and well-curated. The life-size replica of “Black Beauty,” the Tyrannosaurus skull, was a fascinating surprise that adds a deeper historical layer to the visit. The indoor simulations of the disaster, with collapsed structures and interactive displays, truly help you understand the magnitude of what happened here. Outside, the surrounding trails and viewpoints give you a panoramic look at the scale of the landslide. The blend of natural beauty and historic weight is humbling. The views of the rubble field and surrounding mountains are stunning—especially under a dramatic sky like we had. Great for families, history buffs, or anyone exploring the Crowsnest Pass. Easily one of Alberta’s most memorable historic sites.

This is a great place to visit, well worth the time. Such a fascinating history and well done interpretive center. It addresses the tragedy in a respectful manner. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The path is well taken care of and is no charge. See if you can spot the entrance to the mine! We brought binoculars.
Lia R — Google review
Very informative. The centre is well set up and easy to navigate. The price is very reasonable! The view of the aftermath is beautiful but disturbing as it really conveys the destructive force of the slide. The human side was told very well and made it easy to connect and understand the stories and the loss of life. Well done preserving history

Wow! It's a very informative display of the Frank Slide. We enjoyed it, if you the 1500m loop wear proper footwear, and if you aren't good with steeper trails, skip the forest abd just turn around. We did enjoy the whole loop tho. 4 adults. Also take advantage of discounts in Canada Parks!
Cindy C — Google review
We've been several times to the Interpretative Center, but always come out with new information or new experiences. Here are some we did this visit: Definitely hike the trail. It is 1,500m of some pretty cool sights. The first half (about 700m) is all through rock that was put there by the slide and is so cool to see the magnitude of rocks that slid down that mountain. The second half is through a forest and is much more of a hike. Several steep areas will challenge the less able bodied. It's very worth it though to go through the change in landscape. We stayed for both video presentations. We haven't watched both before, and it was worth it to see both view points. We also asked for information from the very helpful staff. There was an older gentleman, who's been there every time we've been there, who was particularly helpful and FULL of information. Last thing? They've started handing out really neat comics to the kids as they leave. These are excellent and entertaining. Overall, we always enjoy our visits. Highly recommend going. Especially on a slower, mid-week, morning visit. Very child friendly, and family oriented. Always very clean, and excellent staff.

Amazing ice cream! Glad we stopped by this gem before heading back to Calgary. The kids loved it and there are an abundance of ice cream flavours to choose from. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. Will be putting this on our stop list the next time we drive through Crowsnest Pass.

What a treat! You really should check this place out if you're in the area or passing by Bellevue. Easy to get to. It has a very cool tiny town feeling. The pics attached are not of the ice cream shop itself but what that shop sees out their door. They have a ton of flavors. Soft and hard ice cream. Cones, waffle cups/cones and plain old paper cups (that's how I like mine - no mess what-so-ever). And the blackberry soft ice cream... oh boy! Service was quick even with the busy stream of people. Good job Old Dairy!

Explore the rich history of coal mining in Western Canada by taking a tour of the Bellevue Underground Mine, the region's only authentic underground coal mine. Descend 1,000 feet into the mine and experience being 150 feet below the surface as you learn about its inner workings and historical significance. Don a miner's hat and light to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this unique experience.

Such a great tour! My great grandfather and my husbands grandfather both worked in the mines in the pass. It was so interesting to learn about how hard they worked to create a life for their families. Thank you Sarah for a great tour.

Had such a blast visiting the mine this past month. We were lucky enough to tour it as it was the day before the closed for the winter. Our tour guide was AMAZING. She was the star of the tour. Me and my fiance said all the information she has really made it an experience. We love watching mining shows so touring a coal mine was so fun!

Pro Tip: DRESS VERY WARM! Very cool in the mine. Bring jacket and gloves and toque. Also check online for booking times in advance. Awesome experience. Such a great glimpse into the past and the lives these miners lived. Our tour guide Diane was amazing and very knowledgeable and passionate. If you are in the area this is a must try. Highly recommended!

It's FREEZING in the mine, literally! There was frost on the walls at the end of the mine. A hoodie was not enough for kids, teens nor the adults in our Canadian party. It is ZERO DEGREES CELSIUS in the mine on a hot August day. Bring a good jacket or winter attire. The tour was very informative and it was such a neat experience. You are able to take home a complimentary piece of coal from a wheelbarrow near the mines entrance. Entry is based on the time/hour you booked. The 10am tour had 3 people. The 11am tour had roughly 6 families. Hardhats with headlamps are provided. A hoodie was lended to a teen to who only had a tshirt and shorts on. I had joked (and scared a kid) that there might be bats in the cave but we didn't hear of or see anything like that. Overall, it was a truly neat experience and I’m glad we partook in this one-time experience.

Our tour guide (forgot to get her name) lead such an amazing journey into the coal mine! We had a mix of young children and she was very cautious with what she shared which was very appreciated. We even got to take a little- or big- chunk or coal as a souvenir. They also have a little souvenir shop which everything was very well and reasonably priced! A little polished rock- or handfuls- and a sticker to add to our sticker wall. Thank you for the fun, educational journey! 💓

Frank Slide, located in Canada, is the site of the country's deadliest landslide. In 1903, 110 million tonnes of rock from Turtle Mountain engulfed three square kilometers of The Crowsnest Pass in just 100 seconds. A must-see when passing through Crows Nest Pass. The magnitude of the event is unimaginable until it is seen in person. Upon arrival, I felt humbled and emotional for the lives forever lost. We're staying at an Airbnb in Bellevue and we can see the slide from our back yard. We went and walked through the rocky ruins as well. Nestled in Crowsnest Pass, Stone's Throw Cafe is a charming family-owned spot offering a variety of delectable options. From gluten-free items to breakfast buffets, this cozy cafe has something for everyone. Guests can savor sticky cinnamon buns, fresh scones, and pita melts before embarking on mountain biking adventures. Embracing a green policy, the cafe encourages patrons to bring their own mugs for to-go coffee.
We were in desperate need of a caffeine fix, so we decided to take a quick break and hunt down a good coffee spot. While chatting with someone at the ACE store, they enthusiastically recommended a nearby café that they swore by. We didn’t hesitate—both of us were running on fumes and craving something strong, hot, and comforting. When we arrived, the vibe was cozy and welcoming. Two younger staff members greeted us with warm smiles and immediately apologized for being short-staffed that morning. Despite that, they were impressively efficient and attentive. They took the time to double-check our orders, especially mine, since I’m lactose intolerant. It was clear they genuinely cared about getting everything just right, which made the experience feel personal and thoughtful. The drinks? Absolutely spot-on. Rich, smooth, and exactly what we needed to shake off the grogginess and get back into gear. We left feeling recharged, grateful, and already planning to come back.

This is the second time I've been here. The last time was a year ago. Last year, the coffee wasn't very good. No flavor and way too much sugar. This year, we wanted to try the food. It was overpriced, the potatoes were undercooked, the waffles on the egg benny were too thick and doughy, and the eggs tasted bland, I could have made this better at home. If you want to go sit somewhere with cute different chairs and friendly staff and waste your money on mediocre food, this is your place.

This is your typical small town cafe atmosphere with breakfast/lunch/snack and coffee/tea place. Stones throw is cozy and filled with friendly employees. There are lots of spaces to sit (when they open for dine in again). Everything has an artsy feel and they sell/showcase local artist works. Their grilled cheese...made fresh and stringy, was a delicious comfort food to get. If they can get the basics of a grilled cheese down, im sure their other offerings would be reflected the same way. Meals are $6-8 and drinks are $2-5 (reasonable pricing).

Lost Lemon Campground & Cabins is a charming destination steeped in history, famously linked to the ghostly tale of Frank Lemon and his ill-fated partner. Nestled along Canada’s southern Rocky Mountain corridor, this campground boasts stunning landscapes and a plethora of recreational activities. Guests can enjoy a refreshing swim in the heated pool or engage in friendly competition on the basketball and volleyball courts.
We’ve been staying at the lost lemon campground for years and it truly feels like our home away from home. About two summers ago, the campground came under new management and the new owners have been absolutely amazing. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely care about making every guest experience a great one. The campground itself is always very clean and well maintained. The outdoor pool is a fantastic feature, especially on hot summer days! One of our favorite parts is the location, right on the river. It’s peaceful, scenic, and offers easy access to nature. There are also so many things to do in the area, whether you enjoy hiking, fishing, sightseeing, or exploring the charming town nearby. The whole experience at lost lemon is relaxing, friendly and fun. We look forward to coming back every year and can’t recommend it enough.

Lost Lemon Campground is an absolute delight, run by a wonderful family who truly cares about their guests. The owners are kind, available, and go out of their way to be accommodating, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The campground itself is spotless—very clean and well-maintained. The other campers were respectful, creating a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere that made our stay even more enjoyable. The only slight downside is the proximity to the train tracks. Of course, this is completely out of the campground’s control, and it didn’t detract from the overall experience. Lost Lemon is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a well-run, family-friendly campground with heart. Highly recommend!

Just had our first ever stay at Lost Lemon and can say with confidence we will be returning! We are a family of 5, inclusive of 3 young children and we haul a 30ft trailer. There was enough room for our trailer, the sites are well maintained, and having full hook ups was a major win. The campground is overall quaint and quiet - helpful that we were there during the middle of the week. Yes the train goes right by and can be a bit loud announcing its arrival, but that’s CP Rail for ya, it was more of an attraction for us than a disturbance. We found the bathrooms and shower to be clean, and they even have laundry! The pool and playground are centrally located so you can see your kids well if you want to enjoy your fire while the kids play. The pool is heated, a great little place for a dip after a morning of hiking. The highlight for us was Susie Q’s food truck. Quality food, made with love! The chicken coconut curry soup was my favorite. Don’t worry she’s also got ice cream for all! Already looking forward to our next stay!

Thank you, Boss Lemon Campground! First off—where did that name come from? What a great place to stay. We’ve passed through this area more times than I can count over the past 20 years, and we’re so glad we finally found your campground. We’ll definitely be back. The riverside location is unbeatable. The bathrooms and on-site amenities were clean and well-maintained. Your team was incredibly responsive and helpful—especially during one of the busiest weekends of the year. We were lucky to get a spot, and that was largely thanks to your flexibility and quick replies. Highly recommend Boss Lemon for anyone passing through—singles, couples, or families. It’s a perfect base in a great part of Alberta with tons to do nearby. Easily one of our favourite stops with our little trailer. See you again soon!

What a great time! Pool, volleyball, basketball, playground and other kids for mine to play with. Great mountain biking 10 minute ride away. Creek right behind us was charming. The campsites were pretty narrow and jammed together but honestly I seemed to care less about that as time went on. I still give 5 stars we will be back again, amenities and location was perfect.

The lost lemon campground is a very nice place to stay. The location to all your Blairmore amenities are within walking distance. If you like fishing, the crows nest river is on the edge of the campground and is lots of fun for young people. John and Sue Are very welcoming when it comes to all your needs to camping. I highly recommend this campground that provides water power and sewer. Laundry facilities, washrooms and showers. And a nice warm pool to relax in and is great for kids.

Only five stars because I couldn’t give it more! This was a very cute little campground. Very close to town, actually in town, but you’d never know it. The sound of the water going by, and the trains, made it magical. The pool was great, my grandson played basketball, dish station was useful. Staff was extremely friendly. All in all it was an amazing camping evening with a seven-year-old!
Sandra K — Google review
We stayed at Lost Lemon Campground recently and had a wonderful stay. We had plenty of room for our tent and enjoyed an amazing campfire with wood we bought onsite. My grandson played at the park and they had basketballs volleyballs out for the kids to use. The pool was warm and very clean, actually the entire campground was immaculate. We made our own dinner but if we had known about the food truck on site we would have ordered dinner. The sound of the brook behind us was very soothing to just listen to. Had a nice hot shower in the morning and it was great that you could access the washrooms 24hrs. We would most definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Bamboo Bistro is a restaurant located in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, Canada. The area is known for its economic opportunities and rising real estate prices due to the development of Twinning Highway 3 through Crowsnest Pass. This region was also the site of a historical event when Turtle Mountain collapsed in 1903. Bamboo Bistro offers a diverse menu featuring Thai, Indian, and Japanese cuisine.
Had 2 amazing salads with great sauces and super fresh veggies. Perfectly cooked prawns and chicken.

Interesting mix of cuisines at this restaurant. You can choose between pizza, sushi, a variety of Asian dishes and they also make cake. I tried the Sasquatch roll and the Mongolian chicken with rice, both was very tasty. Will for sure come back!

This place is great. The food was good. The veggies in our items were still crisp which made them taste a little fresher and the ginger beef was made with real ginger root and just tastes brighter. The location is awesome. Big windows made for lots of light streaming and and great views of the mountains. The decor is full of lots of silk plants and kitschy stuff. A very relaxed place.

Ordered a salad and pad Thai. The salad was fantastic but the pad Thai was gross. The noodles were mushy and there was next to no flavour in the dish. What flavour it did have, was not a pad Thai flavour. They offer peanut sauce for an additional $2.50 which I didn’t get but in hind sight I guess I should have as it is gross as is.

We showed up just after the power went out and were greeted with friendly staff who said we were welcome to sit and wait a bit to see if the power came back on so we did and a few minutes later were told that we could have anything off the bistro menue because they were firing up the gas stove for us. We all very much enjoyed our food and the service and appreciate the service. One of our little girls (6) was grumpy and recovering from heat exhaustion and at first taste very vocal about her displeasure after the chef made her special sushi (picky eater not at all raised to be rude) so I apologize for that but would like you to know on further inspection she ate half of the order and insisted on tking the rest back with us and on the way after we left she said it was delicious. I had honestly intended to apologize in person but it has been a very long day. Thank you so very much and we shall return.. I gotta try that Amazing smelling pizza. Also love all the treats you have to offer.♥️

Pretty good food. Fun family atmosphere. You can choose to eat at the pizza place (family friendly and games while you wait for your food) or the Bamboo Bistro (more restaurant style). Did not try the Sushi or Sashimi at over $5 for 2 pieces. Has many gluten free options as well.

I'm not a big reviewer but I noticed the other review and felt I needed to post comments. I have been on my own, with my family and as part of a big group. I think the other reviewer must have visited on a really bad day because I have never had anything but delicious food from both Blackrock and Bamboo Bistro. My husband loves their pizza and butter chicken. They are always so helpful to adapt to mine and my daughters allergeries. Lots of gluten free options too.

Me and my hubby used to eat here a lot when they first opened, the food was great and the service was wonderful. now it's like a bunch of little kids work there and do all the cooking, the pizza we ordered fell apart as soon as you tried to lift it. We wont be ordering pizza from there again for a while. The kid clearly has zero experience making pizza. Maybe it was his first day, idk...

While in town for a wedding, I ventured to Captain's Pizza and opted for two pizzas and some wings to share. The service provided by the friendly staff was excellent. The wings traveled well without becoming soggy and remained hot upon arrival at the hotel. The pizza itself was exceptional with a delectable sauce and an ideal cheese-to-toppings ratio.
Best pizza I ever had in my life just no words 😎🤙the owner so welcoming person take care Bro see you soon 🤙

What a delight this place is! Homey and delicious! Captain is so welcoming and friendly. And he said he washed too many dishes over the years, so now we eat off disposable plates. Cannot argue with that! And the food was delicious- big selection of pizzas, homemade dough and sauce! We loved the chicken wings too!
Mary D — Google review
In town for a wedding, so we grabbed 2 pizzas and some wings to share between the two of us. Great service from the gentleman working, very friendly. Wings travelled well, did not get soggy and were still hot when we got them to the hotel. Pizza was amazing! The sauce was great and they had the perfect ratio of cheese to toppings for me! Some other reviews mention price, but it’s a very similar price to that of dominoes or Pizza Hut, AND even though we only ordered 12” they were much more filling than the big brands. And the SAUCE! Trust me when I say I know my pizza sauce and Captain’s is to die for!
Ilona G — Google review
Stopped here on a whim based on the reviews. The Captain was a fantastic person who made the experience that much better. Don't let the exterior of the restaurant fool you, solid pizza and the Captain! He even threw in a couple of brownies our way to celebrate Canada Day. Love the mustache!

Hands down best pizza we have had in a long time. My husband said it would be worth the drive from Calgary to eat. We were camped at Lumbreck Falls. A quick drive in to grab it. Thank you for your covid concerns and outdoor pick up only.

Very disappointed! $61.95 for two 14” pizza’s with 4 toppings???!!!!! Are you kidding me?? I get the $9.00 delivery charge. But seriously? And to boot the pizzas weren’t great. One pizza had green peppers on it, the peppers were diced little cubes of peppers. The other pizza. I asked for ham, pineapple and shrimp. I asked for extra ham. Well that never happened! And very little shrimp. Very disappointed. You try and support local businesses during this time. Well I will not be supporting Captains pizza in the future. Good luck! Because with your astronomical price increase. You are going to need it!

Hamburger restaurant
A&W Canada is a fast-food establishment that specializes in serving their signature root beer along with burgers, chicken, and fries. Despite initial low expectations, the food provided at this restaurant was unexpectedly fresh and delicious. The staff members are known for their kindness and friendliness towards customers, even going as far as giving out lollipops to young patrons.
A&W is the best quick-service restaurant in Canada! I appreciate that I can customize my order to the way I like it. You can even replace the bun with a lettuce wrap for a healthier, lower carbohydrate meal with no additional charges! I love this particular A&W because the food is always fresh and the staff is so friendly.
Matt S — Google review
We don't stop for A&W very often, but every time we do, including this most recent visit, the service has always been fantastic. They tend to make many of the items fresh upon order versus sitting under a heat lamp, so they may have you park for a couple of minutes to wait, but it's never long and they bring it out to your car with a smile. The food itself is standard A&W fare, obviously not 5-star dining, my rating is based on the service quality and freshness of the food! :)
Deanna H — Google review
This A&W’s rootbeer fountain somehow serves the best tasting rootbeer of any A&W in western Canada. It’s extra cold, extra creamy, and perfectly flavored. Not sure how it’s so much better than the others but it is! I also like how easy it is to spell this restaurant’s name.

We stopped at this A&W from Blackfalds on our way to Trail, BC The restaurant was clean, the food was very good and made quickly. Freshly made but fresh. The main reason for my positive review is to highlight Jocelyn D.'s exceptional service. She took our order and was so incredibly friendly and helpful. What a lovely young lady! My husband changed his mind a couple of times and her smile never wavered. Her customer service is to be commended. It is not often that I leave reviews on a fast food visit but, Jocelyn's excellent service warranted this positive review.

Often times calling fast-food chains proper restaurants can be a little divisive. However this A&W is truly a proper restaurant. The staff have my utmost respect and I seldom return from a meal feeling as refreshed as I do by seeing the sheer joy on the staff members' faces every visit. I commend A&W for creating a wonderful, reliable restaurant that I always feel truly cares about my well being.

Crowsnest Cafe & Fly Shop is a charming spot in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. It offers soul-satisfying coffee and delicious soup, making it a perfect place to snuggle up. Additionally, visitors can rent fat bikes at Alpenland and join Sweet Riders for an exciting fat bike ride or enjoy some family time on the slopes at Pass Powderkeg.
Charming, cozy café with freshly home made soup, sandwiches, and baked treats. Friendly staff and very reasonably priced menu. Recommend to stop in en route. A range of fly fishing gear for purchase.

What a wonderful crew. We did the fly fishing 5 hr tour. Started with awesome coffee and snacks. Al and Alex were terrific hosts and taught us so much about the sport. Equipment was excellent and the fishing spot was serene. Fully recommend!

The staff was wonderful, the service top notch, and the food was very tasty. When it was discovered that they had run out of the soup we had ordered, they were very apologetic and gave us other choices that they supplied at the same price as the soup...they even threw in dessert for free. We tried to pay extra, but they would not allow it. Their coffee is very tasty too. We returned later for coffee as we were leaving the area and the clerk bypassed the tip screen on the debit machine and wouldn't let me tip once again. Also, deer like to eat apples from the tree out front - qeven they know this place is awesome.

Stopped in at The Café and Fly Shop in Coleman and had an awesome experience. Alex made me a tasty wrap completely from scratch—so good. He’s also really knowledgeable about fishing, set me up with some spots to check out, and talked tackle with me. The coffee they serve is from Oso Negro in Nelson, and it was excellent. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the fishing advice.

Just wanted to give Alex a shout out for the great service and expertise I received yesterday. Have driven past this absolute gem of a shop for year's now and never had the time to stop. I was greeted instantly by I believe Alex and whom ever was working the kitchen. Asked if he had any Blue winged Olive's and he directed me too them. I mentioned how I felt the Crow was a little slower than recent years and that the hopper's hadn't been working still that great. He steered me to some other stimulator patterns that had been working well and assured me the hopper season will be great when it hits. Thank you Alex I caught some beautiful fish on your fly's and unfortunately lost a massive Brown as the 5x just didn't hold up to the fight.

The Crowsnest Museum & Archives, situated in the historic downtown Coleman, offers a glimpse into the cultural history of the Crowsnest Pass. The museum showcases nearly 100,000 artifacts that narrate stories of the area's unique mining history, early settlers, and intriguing criminal connections. Visitors can explore exhibits depicting life during the coal mining era and learn about the effects of prohibition. Additionally, guided tours are available for groups to delve deeper into the National Historic Site's captivating past.
A great place to know about the interesting history of the mines and the community around it. Full of objects used in daily life from the early IX century. A must visit, definitely.

My wife and I had the most incredible experience today. We went into the gift shop before exploring the museum and were welcomed by a young lady who chatted with us and gave us some great tips! We were impressed with how much she had already explored in the pass having only lived here for 2 months! Really impressed with the superb service and amazing museum!

So much to see and experience. The staff here are very helpful and the murder mystery combined in the experience is so bone chilling and romantic and sad and so many other things. All of the exhibits are explained very thoroughly with signage and pamphlets. My tour was self guided but id come back for the guided tour for sure. Afterwards I walked the miners path and took the long way back through the trees and down some old trails. Seeing the creek and falls along the beautiful trail makes the walk well worth it. So relaxing!

Star Creek Falls

Hiking area
Star Creek Falls in Coleman is a perfect destination for adventure seekers. Located just 12 minutes away from Crowsnest Lake, this lightly trafficked scenic loop offers opportunities for ice climbing and hiking. The waterfall is ideal for both beginners and experienced climbers when frozen solid. The trail spans 2.1 km with an elevation gain of 95 m, featuring two bridges and two viewpoints of the beautiful falls. Visitors can also enjoy the stunning 75-meter deep canyon along the way.
Such a beautiful place to visit! The hike can be a loop or you can go directly to the falls. We opted for the loop where you can view the falls from above and then came down to bottom. Parts are quite slippery when you are climbing on the rocks and the chain that has been put in place to climb up is great! It’s not an easy hike, but we did it and we are not seasoned hikers. Well worth it though!
Nicole M — Google review
Great hike along the creek to the falls, chain was broken at the end when I went the last time, didn't seem safe to try and climb it.

Beautiful hike! Well maintained trail.
Aric S — Google review
Nice short hike. If you go up the view of the waterfall is quite blocked, but you get a good view either way. If you go down and follow the river then depending on the time of year you can either see a big frozen waterfall, walk fairly close to the waterfall, or when we went this week we could only go up to the first bend since the water level was too high to go further.
Indy ( — Google review
Decent small hike, good amount of elevation. A bunch of the hike is on an ATV trail which detracts from the experience, but you do get some walking only trails and some rewarding views of the waterfall.
Hannah D — Google review
Not for the faint of heart in the winter, requires some interesting moves with a chain to get around icy paths. I assume this would be allot easier in summer. Very pretty falls.

This picturesque destination offers an array of activities, from cross-country skiing to mountain biking, making it perfect for family outings or solo adventures. With 35 kilometers of well-marked ski trails that wind through serene forests and rolling hills, skiers of all abilities can enjoy a day in nature.
Stunning views and really nice trail by the lake. Campsites were a good size and lots of trees for privacy between sites in the tent only loop. We stayed at site A-94.

Great campsite with plenty of privacy. We stayed in A-loop. Lake is small (it is a mountain lake) and can get busy. Trail network in the area is substantial! Would come again.
Jim B — Google review
The park itself was beautiful with lots of trails and the lake. For our 5 day stay in the campground we found the toilet facilities to be the grossest of any of the provincial parks where we have camped. The dead flies and very strong smell of the toilets wafted over a couple of campsites. Cleaning staff cruised by most days and only cleaned toilets on one of the 5 days we camped. Noise level was variable as there were many campers running generators at odd times.

Nice place to spend the weekend. Quiet, plenty of space, nice lake
Edgar L — Google review
Really nice campground, the sites were fairly private with a lot of trees. Our site was perfect for our needs it only fit a small tent. Be careful which site you choose, we watched a large trailer trying to fit into a small tent site, they ended up having to go stay elsewhere. All sites are walking distance to the lake, the lake is beautiful, it's fairly small and quite busy, lots of people fishing, swimming and paddle boarding. Get there early to pick out a good spot! Their are lots of trails around the campground and a quick drive to Frank slide and turtle mountain.
Lara E — Google review
10 years ago this place was a natural gem. Now it's unbelievable. It's a mess. It's a commercialized monstrosity. The entire lake has been drained down to one end. The wetlands have gone. The lake has been dug out to create a beach. The lake used to be a steady gradient but now where it's been dug out to create a beach it has a very steep drop off. The whole lake and surrounding area has changed so much. It's not that wild place you could go all year round. It's locked up all throughout winter. It's just sad to see this once wild and fairly quiet place turned into a major tourist attraction.

For those seeking a picturesque lake, Chinook Lake is a must-visit destination. Situated just a short distance from Coleman, it is part of the scenic Chinook Provincial Recreation Area. This natural gem offers camping facilities and an enjoyable walking trail encircling the lake. Additionally, the charming small lake is ideal for activities such as paddle-boarding and other non-motorized water sports. With its inviting warm waters and breathtaking views, it provides a serene atmosphere perfect for swimming and relaxation.
This is a beautiful easy walk around the lake. Awesome mountain views start you off. A marshy area (watch out for the tiny frogs) about halfway around and you enjoy a nice forested trail to finish up. An awesome walk but get there early. The beach is crowded by noon and the trail bets busy.

Love this lake. The water is beautiful, but very cold. Unfortunately we found glass on the beach so wear shoes. Parking is a nightmare when it’s busy. Lots of picnic areas near the lake. Good fun to bring out a paddle board or kayak. Shade in the afternoon, but bring umbrellas if you can. The beach area is slightly rocky. Lots of walking trails around the lake too. Dog friendly!

Warm water! Pleasure to swim. Got a little to crowded on a Sunday in July, but that's the ways things are. Absolutely lovely with beautiful trails. Recommended!

Chinook Lake is a beautiful spot for a family getaway! The area is very clean, well-maintained, and peaceful. There’s plenty of parking space, so no stress even on busy days. I also love that there are lots of picnic tables around, making it perfect for a family lunch by the water. The scenery around the lake is stunning — surrounded by lush trees and mountain views that make every moment feel like a postcard. Highly recommend for a relaxing outdoor day!

Had a Fish “Tuesday Taco” with fresh pico. Totally delicious. Fish was thick and flaky, beautifully enhanced by a crisp, thin beer batter, and the tasty pico. I highly recommend it. Others eating here had the Diner Burger and an Omelet. They also praised their meals to me. I’ll be back!

Great smoke flavor! I especially like their ribs and brisket. Pulled pork is always good and I love that there's pulled pork in the baked beans. Decent portions but I wish there was a platter for two on their menu. The slaw could be better (a little plain), but all the other sides were great.

I give this place a 1000/10 for hospitality, Me and my partner both love this place for its amazing smoked meats, although its a bit far from home its well worth the drive. We made a reservation on one of the busiest nights for restaurants. Valentines day. As we arrived and were greeted with a space full of laughter, people Conversing merrily and smiles from all those around, We had an outstanding server who could hear even a whisper of an “excuse me” whilst running around serving other customers. Our food looked and tasted delicious although my plate had a slight issue, the chefs, the server and the manager were more than generous to fix the issue and make up for it even tho they really didnt have to but it just goes to show how much this place cares for their customers, even on their most profitable of nights. Ì If youre travelong through or just looking for a new place to eat with great food and reasonable prices. This is it.

Went here for lunch & we were not disappointed at all. I had the chesse burger with ceasar salad as a side. My buddy had the smoked brisket sandwich. Should of ordered that also. Not to take away from the burger. We also met a family from Manitoba. They also said their meal was out standing . The one guy had a bowl of homemade soup. He said it was great. I definitely recommend this place over other restaurants there. We ride here from Calgary at least 3 times a yr. This will be our go to place from now on.

Another great meal in the Pass. Friendly greetings at the door by the service staff and quickly seated at a spacious booth. Lovely country and western decor. Food and drink were ordered and quickly prepared and delivered to our table. The cornbread was amazing and so were the beet chips. A delicious start to the meal. For mains we had the deep-fried pickle burger which was a monster burger and very tasty. I had the hunter schnitzel with fries and it was huge! Smothered in mushroom gravy. Super hearty meal. Everything was great. Go with an appetite!
Mitch S — Google review
Went in for food as we were going through the pass. Beet chips were a bit underwhelming but the brisket bennys was amazing. My partner got the Mexican tease and if you like fried food, go for it but it was quite heavy on the oil.

I came here for breakfast a few weeks ago, hadn't known they served breakfast. All I can say is WOW I wish I'd come here way earlier for breakfasts! This restaurant is, without a doubt the BEST breakfast place in the crowsnest pass and I've been to so many breakfast places here. If you're looking for good home cooking, or even a breakfast with a twist, this is the place. Service and food was second to none and the food is like being in the big city. Go, you won't be disappointed!!
Cherith H — Google review
The food is fantastic here. Smoked meat is delightful. However, the service was severely lacking. It took 1 hour 15 minutes to receive our food after ordering. The restaurant was not busy when we ordered. We would love to go back because of the delicious food but the poor service has us unsure if we want to return.

The Hillcrest Mine Disaster Cemetery stands as a poignant reminder of one of Canada's most tragic events in mining history. On June 19, 1914, an explosion caused by ignited methane gas claimed the lives of 189 miners in Hillcrest, Alberta. This catastrophic incident remains etched in memory as the worst coal mining disaster in Canada and ranks among the world's deadliest mine accidents. Most victims were laid to rest in mass graves at this solemn site.
This place is an eerie slice of Alberta's history. It's worth the two hour drive from Calgary if you are into dark history. There is a memorial with the full story, as well as many of the miners' graves can be visited. There are old graves from the early 1900s and a lot of interesting graves from the 1930s that are unrelated to the mining disaster as well. There is an outdoor washroom on site.
Sabrina H — Google review
We visited the cemetery as part of a larger tour. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable. We were each assigned an identity and learned about the individuals who lost their lives in the disaster. We then went and found their grave markers. This was done in such a respectful way and all the kids learned a lot about the people affected.
Lia R — Google review
A desperately sad story of the worse mining disaster in Canadian history. This should be taught in every canadian school history lesson. A bigging memorial to those brave souls who risked everything on that fateful day. I feel privileged to have read their stories. A must visit.
Sulaiman K — Google review
If your into history of places this is a great little stop. Shares the story of some of the mine disasters in the area. There is a area where you can just walk around and read story boards about the mines in that area and the tragedy that happened. The local cemetery is there and found it quite interesting looking at some of the old headstones and very unique layout. It's quiet, and free

Another huge mining disaster for this community not far from Frank’s slide major disaster

Just outside of the town this is a must visit when you are in the Crowsnest Pass. Follow the path to read the plaques describing the mine disaster and the people and animals involved. Excellent stories and photos.

Turtle Mountain

Mountain peak
Turtle Mountain is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a challenging hike and stunning summit views. The mountain offers a difficult yet rewarding seven-kilometer trek, starting from the town of Blairmore. Hikers can expect steep inclines, loose gravel, and limited trail markings on their way to the top. The rugged terrain provides an opportunity to witness the aftermath of the historic rockslide known as Frank Slide.
I'm no hike expert (yet) but this hike was an absolutely magnificent experience even for a noob. The clear weather made this into a visual delicacy that even impressed a spoiled man from the land of the fjords. Difficulty level is "don't bring your turtle 🐢", and expect to crawl if you wanna reach the top! Enjoy - you can do this!
Thomas M — Google review
A rather steep, very rewarding hike with super interesting geology throughout the top! Between the peaks, you can tell that more of the mountain will eventually slide down, as evidenced by the wide cracks and seismic measuring equipment. Just make sure you follow paths that feel safe!
Justin Z — Google review
Quite difficult but a very rewarding hike. The first portion has many variations of how to climb, and it is the most steep. Then it becomes more relaxing.
Katherine T — Google review
This place is mesmerizing to all who see it for the first time. They say the other half of that mountain could go at anytime. If you've never been thru the area you must stop and see the destruction this landslide did to the area. Lots to do in area from hiking and camping or visit the quaint town of Frank
Belinda V — Google review
Tried to hike this twice. Both times it started snowing at the top and was freezing and we got too cold and gave up. Also my wife got a tick on her head and got sick. Anyway pretty cool hike. I’m just wasting everyone’s time.
Jacob S — Google review
I rate this hike going to the North and South Peak as hard especially if you attempt it during early spring with the snow still a knee deep. It was worth looking from above how that rockslide changed the formation of Turtle Mountain.
Dennis M — Google review
Climbed turtle mountain a couple times now and I was over and over again impressed by the great view. The path to the top isn't the best but manageable

Adventure sports center
Sweet Riders Ltd. is dedicated to sharing the joy of mountain biking while ensuring a fun and safe learning environment for all riders. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced cyclist, Sweet Riders offers an array of fat biking tours and clinics led by experienced instructors like Karey Watanabe. Visitors rave about their experiences, highlighting the breathtaking scenery that includes majestic mountains and serene river valleys during e-bike tours, such as the memorable journey to Frank Slide.
Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Apparently you can. Karey has an infectious personality along with a structured, methodical and very detailed approach to coaching MTB skills that all make sense. Once you try them, the light goes on. Even though we had a group session, I felt like it was one on one because of her attention to detail, not just for me, but everyone! The learning continued even after the session, with the buzz of excitement of what we just learned, why it was so important to remember, how it improved our skills and help us stay safe on the trails. What a great day, Thanks Karey!
Bryan F — Google review
A group of older mountain bikers with years of bad riding habits took a jump clinic with Karey Lee this spring. She started with teaching/reviewing with us and practising the basics to make sure we had the proper foundation before moving on to jumping. By the end of the clinic we were all jumping. Karey is a very positive, knowledgeable, and patient instructor with an eye for detail. I look forward to taking more lessons with her to further my mountain biking skills.
PaulM — Google review
Karey of Sweetwater's is a fantastic teacher. She has the ability to breakdown the key components of correct mountain bike skills into small learnable chunks. Once you learn these basic skills, you can start executing more complicated composite skills like jumping. I've been mountain biking for decades and still have alot to learn! Thx Karey.
Tim W — Google review
I attended an adult clinic with Sweet Riders last year. It was so helpful and gave me a lot more confidence on the trails. This year I booked my son into their youth clinic. I was unsure about how he'd do because he is on the quiet side but he absolutely loved it. He came home each day and showed me what he learned and had nothing but good things to say about the coaches. They have an excellent team.
Katie C — Google review
If you have a chance to take one of Karey’s clinics you will not be disappointed. Her years of riding, racing and coaching make her extremely adept at tuning your skill set, regardless of your abilities. She makes it fun and personalized. If you’re a new rider you’ll learn the right way and if you’re not a new rider chances are you will still learn the right way!
Andy Y — Google review
Had the opportunity to take a clinic today with Karey Lee. It was such a positive experience. She certainly knows what she is doing and helped everyone confidently step out of their comfort zone. Within hours we were all flying through the air. I am now looking for more opportunities to learn from her!
Cathy G — Google review
Karey is the real deal! Anyone looking to expand their mtn bike skills (from beginner to expert) would do themselves a favour by booking some time with Sweet Rider. She's friendly, knowledgable, and is a stable of the Crowsnest community!
Michael A — Google review
I recently took a group lesson with Karey lee on cleaning up the basics and learning to jump-finally lol She gave excellent, clear information that was followed up by her demonstrating the maneuver and then we practised it under her watchful eye It was a very step by step approach to cleaning up our bad habits and giving us insight into what we personally do that needs correcting and how to fix it It led into us going over jumps on the grass of various sizes that we got to choose according to our skill and confident level I honestly never thought that I would ever have the confidence to take ramp jumps as I am an older rider who truly does not want to get hurt, that being said, Karey very systematically worked us up to it and really gave me the skills and confidence to try Slightly scary and a whole lot of fun! I am now “baby” jumping things on my regular rides and getting some air Thanks so much for carefully pushing me girl, your help and great eye has improved my riding already, can’t wait for a few more lessons to really soar, for me lol Cheers Norma Jean

The restaurant is known for its satisfying burgers, steak sandwiches, beef dips, and more. Customers can enjoy a variety of wing flavors and flavorful dishes like the Caesar wrap. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is described as relaxing and welcoming.
Well, that was a really nice surprise! Our lunch here was unplanned, oh boy, are we happy we stopped! The food was absolutely amazing! My kids shared the lasagna (no picture as they cleaned their plates in no time!). The 3 of us grown-ups had the steak sandwich, true canadian burger, and classic burger, all with freshly cut fries. The steak was beyond this world!!! So were the burgers!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!!! The fries just tasted like those in my childhood, nothing like the frozen stuff you get everywhere else. The young lady who's hosting was the best, super nice and friendly. I highly recommend this place. It's quite a trip from home but we'll definitely stop again the next time we are in the area!

We were at pincher creek and was looking for a different place to eat. Found this place via google maps and we are so glad for that. Hesitated a litlle when we stop the car in front because we have a baby but once we entered there we were amazed. Prety awesome service and the ceaser salad with steak it was the die for. If you are around, visit there... for sure you will not regreat.

The bathrooms were clean. We are definitely coming back with the twins.

I received a recommendation from a friend to try out Ben Wong Restaurant with my fiancée. We finally went and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes and good value for money. The customer service was exceptional, leaving us very satisfied with our order. It would have been a mistake to pass up the chance to try this place. They are definitely worth the money and the staff is lovely. I highly recommend giving it a try.
The food was amazing and all fresh. The portions are huge but that’s amazing for the price. Highly recommend getting the green onion cakes but you will have to ask since they aren’t always available. They have such a huge menu there’s something for everyone. Best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been.

We had such a great experience at Ben Wong in Blairmore! Jodi took care of us and was absolutely amazing — so friendly, warm, and genuinely fun to chat with. She made our stop feel extra special. The food was delicious across the board — we ordered salt and pepper pork, Szechuan noodles, Singapore curry noodles, sweet and sour pork, and stir-fried vegetables. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot after a long day. Definitely stop here if you’re passing through or in the area — it’s a gem! Thanks again, Jodi!
