Bayahibe in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Bayahibe, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Bayahibe is known for its calm, clear Caribbean waters and sandy beaches, making it a popular base for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The town is a main gateway to Saona Island and Parque Nacional Cotubanamá, where visitors can explore protected marine areas, mangroves, and coral reefs. Once a small fishing village, it still has a relaxed, local feel, with simple seaside restaurants and boat tours operating right from the waterfront.
With favorites like Playa Pública Dominicus, Dominicus Beach Bayahibe, and Tanama Jungle Ranch, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Saona Café and Bella 'Mbriana Bayahibe- Pizzeria Italiana so you can get the best taste of Bayahibe while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Bayahibe is an incredible island destination that should not be missed. It offers a unique and captivating experience for visitors. While snorkeling may not provide a wide variety of fish, there are still exciting sightings like stingrays and enormous starfish. The island itself is picturesque and inviting, even if amenities such as running toilets are lacking and the drinks can be expensive. The food may not meet high expectations but that doesn't overshadow the overall enjoyment of being there.
The area itself did not feel the safest but we still enjoyed the time in the area. It is worth going here for a boat rental. The area with starfish is amazing. Water is very clear and warm.

Nice boat ride, awesome waters, music is great & so is the atmosphere.

We visited Isla Saona, and it’s truly a must-see when traveling to the Dominican Republic. The journey starts at the Bayahibe Port, where boats depart for Isla Saona. While the port itself is nothing special, the trip from there to the island is absolutely breathtaking. The entire area between Bayahibe and Isla Saona lies within a National Park and protected marine area, offering stunning views of turquoise waters and untouched nature. Just before reaching the island, there’s a spot known as the Natural Pool — a shallow, crystal-clear lagoon with fine white sand unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s simply magical (just take a look at the photos!). Finally, you arrive at Isla Saona, which features the same powdery sand and calm, inviting waters. Most tours include food and drinks, making it a relaxing and memorable day trip. If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, Isla Saona is an experience you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
Edgar A — Google review
A nice and busy port with many gift shops, excursion agencies and hawkers selling stuff. This is the main starting point for many tours, specifically the boat/catamaran ride to the Isla Saona, so do come early if you haven't got a booking in advance. Also the traffic around this port is crazy, there are no clear sign to car park, and cars and buses are driving all over the entrance, so it's really messy. Our tour guide kept us waiting and trying one boat after another for almost 2 hours before we finally got into one for Isla Saona, so be careful. Noone speaks English at this place or overall at DR!
Rakesh C — Google review
Nice little town to walk around and get a feel of the local living. We walked around the port and got some empanadas.
Kat R — Google review
Really great tours, went to Isla Saona. Beautiful island surrounded by turquoise water, there is nothing like it.
Massiel J — Google review
Its beautiful beware of tour guide the chargers double try to go directly to boat owner they have office near boat $3000 peso is what you should be paying it includes dorado dominican rum (cheap rum) and the food is average chicken, pork chop rice salad the food is not great at all as far as the beach is nice but las terenas samana is nicer this is more the experience of the boat and las saona island

I loved this island! The beach is beautiful, Plenty of palm trees for the perfect photo background. The water was warm.

Outdoor Activities
Playa Pública Dominicus is a beautiful beach with white sand and clear waters, holding the prestigious Blue Flag badge. It offers a relaxed atmosphere and is well-maintained. The shoreline features transparent waters and sandy ground, with some areas having fun waves caused by sand banks. While it can get busy, especially on Sundays, it's not overwhelmingly loud. Despite being somewhat touristy, there are affordable accommodation options nearby. However, visitors have noted that amenities like showers and bathrooms may be limited.
Our favourite beach, the water was so warm and the colour was insane. We stayed in the water for hours. It is small part of the beach between hotels and there are stalls with souvenirs. There is a small car par but when it is full over the weekend you can park along the road.
Veronika O — Google review
Very beautiful. But very dirty, take 20$ but don't clean the beach. They trimmed the trees to avoid shade, so they could sell more templates and umbrellas. All foto from closed beach.
Maksym V — Google review
Beautiful beach with turquoise water and natural sand this it’s your place to go for beach in Dominican Republic: Playa pública Dominicus La Romana. Here in the public area you can enjoy this stunning beach! The ocean it’s so clear that you can see your feet and the sand under the water and plenty of area that you can get in the ocean that it is not deep at all. They have umbrellas with beds for rent or bring your own one with chairs and have a great family and friend time. Food and drinks available for purchase and great variety of souvenirs shops too.
William H — Google review
A Caribbean Dream! Dominicus Beach in Bayahibe is by far the most beautiful place I’ve seen during my trip to the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴. While we stayed in Punta Cana with my family, we were disappointed to find the beaches there (especially Bavaro Beach) covered in sargassum (seaweed), with a strong smell and murky waters—swimming was nearly impossible. Just a couple of kilometers further, Playa Macao had slightly cleaner water, but nothing compares to Bayahibe. This area belongs to the Caribbean Sea, unlike Punta Cana, which faces the Atlantic Ocean. The difference is huge: the water in Bayahibe is crystal clear, calm, and perfect for swimming or snorkeling. Dominicus Beach offers white sand, turquoise sea, and a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere—ideal for couples, families, or anyone wanting to enjoy paradise. If you’re planning a trip to the DR, skip the resorts of Punta Cana and head to Bayahibe. You’ll experience the real Caribbean here.a
Vecchio R — Google review
The beach itself is absolutely beautiful, transparent waters, all sandy ground, on one part with a fun wave caused by a sand bank. The shoreline is quite steep on some parts, so when going in, you're in hip or breast deep water in just a few meters, but it stays like this for a good 50-100m. The sand area is a bit littered, it doesn't seem like the locals keep it very clean, and bordered left and right by two all inclusive hotels who blast their music on the beach, additionally to the locals who love to bring their music boxes and mount a party on the beach. It is a quite crowded beach, due to its good access. So if you're looking for quiet relaxation and few to no other people, you better head further down the beach towards the nature reserve. You can rent two sun loungers + umbrella for 1000 RD$, one plastic chair for 150 and only an umbrella for 500. There is no shade on the front line, only in the access part of the beach are a few trees that provide good shade, if you don't mind the ants on the floor. We haven't seen any food shops, but there is a bar with shadow on the entrance of the beach and a couple tourist shops right on the shore. There's a large parking at the entrance, where you "can pay a fee or not" to the security guy to "watch" your car. There are no public showers or bathrooms. It is not allowed to bring animals. It's a blue flag beach so the water quality is monitored and good. Perfect place to watch the sunset.
Nicole L — Google review
Really clean beach and beautiful water it's a must see if you in Dominicus. You should be there early really crowded in the weekend

I love it. The water is great and the beach is very clean! I always enjoy it every time I go there
Lara — Google review
Pretty beach, they try to keep it clean fairly well. Gets very busy and packed , but not uncontrollably loud on Sundays as some smaller local beaches do. Maybe I just didn’t see it, but I don’t think this one has any fresh water/hose/shower anywhere either . No clue about the bathrooms either , maybe only by the one little restaurant

Faro de Bayahibe, also known as the lighthouse of the town, is a must-visit attraction when at Dominicus Beach. It offers a beautiful photo opportunity and can be easily reached by walking along the beach. The lighthouse is located at Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus and is exclusively accessible to guests staying there. It features a full bar serving an array of cocktails, beers, and soft drinks for guests to enjoy while soaking up the sun on the beach.
Such an amazing beach, exclusively for those from the iberostar hotel. Service is amazing as well as location. Drinks are free but staff from the gift shops will scout you and get you to buy their things...
Tanya — Google review
I planned on staying at this beach for the day. Being the only person at the gazebo I found it unnecessary that the life guard would not let me stand there and enjoy the view. So I went to another location and spent a decent amount of money there.

Beach
Playa Palmilla is a stunning beach with powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Visitors can enjoy various amenities such as food, drinks, and resting areas. Accessible by boat or catamaran, the island also offers opportunities for kayaking to explore the surrounding areas. While some find the food and native art a bit pricey, the overall experience of this secluded paradise is described as absolutely perfect and a best-ever experience.
Amazingly beautiful beach and waters... honestly so nice and enjoyable. Now about bars and food, don't expect too much in these beaches. Rum coke and sprite..😅😅 and off course some offering coconuts coctails and massage but you have to pay extra to these peaple. If you going with group the food is much better, but don't choose the lobster for my opinion, paid 35 dollars extra for a tiny lobster and 20 dollars for 2 original long island coctails so tasty.
Giannis M — Google review
Getting there on a boat or Catamaran is great, but getting there on a kayak to explore all the surrounding areas is best!

Kviar Show Disco & Casino Bayahibe is a vibrant hotspot for those seeking an exciting night out in the Dominican Republic. This lively venue features a compact yet entertaining casino, offering popular games like Blackjack, three-hand poker, and roulette—both electronic and traditional. The atmosphere comes alive on weekends when locals and tourists alike gather to enjoy the upbeat music spun by talented DJs at the disco.
My fiancé and I had a great time! Its a small casino with big fun! We went on a Sunday and it got packed. They have a good amount of tables. Black Jack, 3 hand poker and roulette. 2 electronic tables of 8 seater roulette. And an actual roulette table. The disco was free, good dj, would definitely return!
Camille J — Google review
Went there super early, it was empty but the staff were nice and friendly. We played a little roulette, won a bit, lost a bit, had a good time, all good!
James J — Google review
Casino was small but had table games and slots, including roulette, the downside is the attached club is all the way at the back and they just charge you and dont even tell you how much the drink was! I got a jack and coke type drink and NO RECEIPT OR ANYTHING stating how much the drink was! Beware!
Irwin J — Google review
Nice small casino and very inexpensive to play.... restaurants and bars in the same complex... minimum bets are RD$100 ( about $2.50 cad )... we play for hours and lose very little....
Daniel I — Google review
No my type of place because the casino suck is very small no too many tables nor machines. I don't think anybody wins there. The atmosphere is weird the music in the club was awful and ultra loud. I probably never come back.
Boston N — Google review
An okay spot for some nighttime fun. This place mainly attracts foreign locals and tourists. The crowd is a mix from 20s to 40s. The music is upbeat and loud. There is a casino in the front of the building and you walk through it to get to the club. It can get busy on weekends or during events.
Idelis C — Google review
Dingy atmosphere and randomly scattered sparse Game Machines and tables. The Disco didn't open on time and then tried to charge us 20 US dollars to get in for a special event that had no one in there. We left
The D — Google review
Staff here is very polite and helpful, you can get drinks from Casino and the prices are moderate. There are parking lots for about 30 vehicles. Place is very close to the beach a 5 or 10 minutes walk. Enjoyed time there.

Bayahibe Beach is a popular destination known for its palm-lined white sand and clear aqua waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are various accommodation options within walking distance of the beach, offering comfort and tranquility in this charming seaside town. The area also boasts all-inclusive hotels with amenities like outdoor swimming pools, fitness centers, and concierge services.
Excellent beach and town. I was there for one month in June 2024 and a few days of July exploring the country, so I want to share my photos of Bayahibe. I liked the food, drinks and deserts, especially cake. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends but you will never be bored with Dominican people if you speak good Spanish, and even if you don't.
Lejla V — Google review
It's a nice beach but don't recommend on Saturday and Sunday as it gets really busy with locals and there is little space. A lot of shops nearby.
Radek Z — Google review
We love this beach I think it’s beautiful and the water cristal clear. We visited with friends and family and had a great time in the water with literally no waves and warm water and soft sand on the beach. If you are going to eat they will set you a table with chairs and will be included with your purchase. Note: This it’s Bayahibe Beach this doesn’t have the Bayahibe lighthouse very mistaken by others and also it’s one wrong picture posted that doesn’t belong to this part of the beach. The lighthouse it’s located on Dominicus beach!
William H — Google review
Beautiful beach with restaurants along it. I wish they had dominican prices instead of American. It's definitely a tourist trap with people bothering you the entire time. We did eat from the restaurant so we didn't get harassed as much and the food was good. The water was gorgeous and warm

Great Public Beach, But Beware of Hilton Security Lovely beach with calm water and a relaxed vibe. However, if you walk toward the Hilton resort area, be aware that security will block your path along the shoreline, falsely claiming it's private property. All beaches in the Dominican Republic are public up to 60 meters from the waterline, including in front of resorts. If you're stopped, you can politely ask to speak to a manager.
Will C — Google review
A nice sandy beach with clear waters 15 min drive from La Romana. I found the place primarily visited by locals, only a few tourists. There were many locals with picnics or just enjoying with families. There's a large car park close by that charges 200 pesos for the day. However, be aware that it's a rip off for tourists. The touts just flock you from all sides. I was charged US $5 just to use a chair at the beach (though I doubt it was his chair at all) and then US $25 for each pound of fish! So, we just gave up after 30mins and left.

Saona Café is a popular spot located on the main street in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic. Situated right in front of the beach, it offers stunning views and a great ambiance. This restaurant and bar is known for its international cuisine, refreshing drinks, and lively music. It's a perfect place to mingle with people from around the globe while enjoying delicious cocktails and cold beers.
Very laid back restaurant right across the Marina. Staff is extremely friendly. One of the best and BIGGEST fries fish I ever had. Was definitely worth it.
Meyf B — Google review
My partner and I visited Saona Café at least 3 or 4 times during our week long stay in Bayahibe. The food was always fresh and delicious but our favorite drinks were the cappuccino's and the all natural fruit juices (passion fruit for me and mango for him). The view of the marina and the smell of the ocean breeze were absolutely breathtaking. We also had the same waitress whenever we visited, her name was Janet and she was friendly, sweet and super professional. We can't say enough nice things about Saona Café, it would be a sin not to visit them during your stay in Bayahibe.

Ordered a grilled fish fillet sandwich. It was juicy end, so tasty easily the best meal I’ve had in Bayahíbe. The Mojito was so good and very strong, 2 ounces of rum! The music was fun too, some people were dancing. fun vibe! Will return!

Went in on Christmas Eve, no reservation, not crowded at 7:30 pm, no wait time to be seated. Fantastic central location with a view of the pier, cozy and familiar ambience, friendly staff. Asked what their fish specialty was, they explained they are the only ones in the region to prepare the lion fish (due to the spikes which are a pain to deal with). True or not, the fish in its orange/ginger sauce was delicious. The salad on the side was seasoned with a perfectly fresh light dressing. Rice and tostones were superb too. Ah and not to mention the mojito! Fresh, not too sweet, not too heavy on liquor... everything I tried was perfect! Congrats and thanks!

Bella 'Mbriana Bayahibe - Pizzeria Italiana is a delightful culinary haven that captures the essence of authentic Italian dining. With its inviting atmosphere, adorned with lush greenery and soft lighting, it sets the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. Guests rave about the attentive service provided by staff like Rafael, who expertly guide diners through an enticing menu filled with delicious options.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bella ’Mbriana Bayahibe - Pizzeria Italiana, and wow—what a delight! From the moment we walked in, we were enchanted by the restaurant’s beautiful and uniquely stylish décor. Our server, Rafael, deserves a special mention—always attentive, patient, and smiling, making us feel truly welcome. His recommendations were spot-on. The lobster pasta absolutely surprised us (and in the best way possible)—not just a few bits, but a whole lobster, paired with an exceptional sauce and top-quality pasta. The Burrata salad was equally impressive: fresh, vibrant ingredients that really make the dish shine. The pizza was baked to perfection, with a high-quality dough that made every bite unforgettable. We trusted Rafael when he suggested the cheesecake for dessert—and oh, was it worth it. Perfectly balanced, creamy, and just the right ending to the meal. And let’s not forget the sangria—cold, dreamy, and exactly what you want to sip in Bayahibe. We left feeling full, happy, and already thinking about our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Italian flavors and a warm, personal touch in service.

Came here for a lunch. Ambience is wonderful. Servers very attentive. We ordered cheese pizza, fish of the day with potatoes and seafood pasta. Everything was tasty, but nothing exceptional. Pizza was very thin but delicious, I would not consider it a full meal. Prices are expensive for the amount of food. One bottle of water was 250 pesos.

This place is a gem! Our server Rafael was amazing, he was very attentive and helped us with the menu selection, Which were delicious! The pasta angel was a delicious shrimp pasta with pistachio cream sauce. We also ordered the fresh fish of the day branzino which was cooked to perfection, light, tender and juicy. The pizzas were also exquisite , thin and crispy. The atmosphere is also wonderful with dim lights, great smooth music and lush greenery.
Wellington F — Google review
I really wanted to like this place because the atmosphere was beautiful but after a long day, my family was super hungry. We ordered two pizzas and they were paper thin. Don't get wrong. I've had thin pizzas but this was not that. It was honestly the flimsiest I have ever seen or had. It was tasty but we left disappointed.
Jan C — Google review
The ambiance here is stellar. Come in the late afternoon for the breeze, in the evening for the charm. Either way, the wood fired pizza is authentically Italian. Italian wines, red or white, brilliantly complement anything you order. The spacious, but unadorned parking lot belies the beautifully clean, flowering vine strewn dining area, accented with a fountain and pool. It fairly begs you to slow down and be present in this perfect moment. Pizza toppings are generous, crusts are crisp and flawless. You’ll want to return.

We went back twice during our stay, that’s how good it was! The pizza were super good and the owner spiced oil just magic. People were very nice and communicative. Recommend greatly. We really enjoyed eating here, the food was great and the servers are good. Lots of options here, the pizza is good, I also had a shrimp dinner. I highly recommend trying the papas fritas, they are fantastic, so salty and fried just perfect!

My GO to place each time I vacation in Dominicus which is pretty much annually! Have been going there since about 2014 and it’s always great food and service at decent prices! NOT trying to overcharge tourists at ALL!!! Used to be run by Paola then Manuel took over ownership and it’s just an overall great place!

Bravo! Although I come to Dominicus often, I finally could come here to try one of their specialties: Crab Linguini. I’m coming back this week for the Prawn Linguini (linguini de langostinos)

Incredible seafood - squid, fish, shrimp, lobster, everything was fresh and tasty. The best we ate during our stay in DR. Huge portions. Prices are very low for the quality. Staff is friendly and helpful. They even saw us waving at mosquitoes and brought us a repellent.

At b.loved, the hotel restaurant at Catalonia Royal in Bayahibe, guests are treated to a delightful culinary experience. The menu boasts a variety of starters and main courses that not only taste incredible but are also beautifully presented. The ambiance is calm and inviting, although the air conditioning can be a bit too cool at times. Attentive and friendly staff members like Yinery and Modesto enhance the dining experience with their warm service. Each dish is crafted uniquely, making every meal memorable.
Probably the best place to eat in the resort. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is just perfect in both taste and presentation.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Teeth of the Dog Golf Course, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. Not quite as popular as Altos de Chavón, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Altos de Chavón is a recreated 16th-century Mediterranean village situated on the Chavon River in La Romana, Dominican Republic. This cultural center features an archeological museum showcasing Taino artifacts and a Grecian-style amphitheater that has hosted renowned musicians since its opening in 1982. The village boasts cobblestone streets, restaurants, bars, shops, art galleries, and craft workshops.
Need to prepare passport and sign documents before buying tickets to enter the area. The architecture is so interesting here. Every few steps is a cute angle or view of the houses. So pleasant to walk around. There are a lot of stores and restaurants. The village is very small but very interesting. Super cute place.

Historic charm and spectacular views. We spent the day walking around, visiting shops, and tasting food and drink. You may catch a wedding or a concert on any day.

This is a place you have to visit once in your lifetime. An amphitheatre that is carved in the stone, just look at the pictures and judge for yourself, also if you like golf you can enjoy the best golf course in the Caribbean and possibly all Latinoamérica in Casa De Campo as well.
Ramon V — Google review
This place is an oasis. If you are interested in craftsmanship, history and supporting local artisans, this is the place. We absolutely loved the church, the amphitheater, and the museum was the highlight for us. Learning about the local indigenous culture and seeing original artifacts. If you want an experience that’s a little more special… and to find a souvenir that really means something, this is the place. There are small boutiques, and artists studios to visit. We didn’t eat there, but there are restaurants as well.

Beautiful Mediterranean inspired church and village perched on the cliffs overlooking the Chavon River. Even after finding out it was a real estate development project in the 80s, the stone work, landscape, and charm of this spot transports you in time.

Crismarlyn J — Google review
A Hidden Mediterranean Village in the Heart of the Caribbean. Perched above the winding Chavón River, Altos de Chavón feels like stepping into another world where time slows down and stone-paved streets tell stories of art, music, and culture. Designed in the late 1970s as a tribute to 16th-century Mediterranean villages, this one-of-a-kind place was brought to life by Dominican architect José Antonio Caro and Italian designer Roberto Coppa. Built entirely by local artisans using limestone, handcrafted wood, and wrought iron, every corner of the village carries the warmth and pride of its makers. Visitors enter through the gates of Casa de Campo, the private resort that surrounds Altos de Chavón. Guests of the resort can access the village freely, while outside visitors pay an entry fee that typically ranges from 25 to 50 dollars per person, depending on what’s included. Once inside, you’ll find narrow cobblestone streets lined with artisan shops, galleries, and cafés, along with stunning views of the river valley below. One of the most visited spots is the small but beautiful St. Stanislaus Church, where a relic from the saint himself, ashes sent by Pope John Paul II, rests behind the altar. At the heart of the village is the amphitheater, a 5,000-seat open-air venue carved into the hillside. Since its grand opening concert in 1982 featuring Frank Sinatra, the stage has welcomed some of the world’s biggest performers including Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Juan Luis Guerra, Sting, Plácido Domingo, Luis Miguel, and Marc Anthony. With its impressive acoustics and dramatic backdrop, the amphitheater offers a unique concert experience under the stars. Altos de Chavón also offers several excellent dining options. Alegría serves a varied menu with breathtaking views of the river, with favorites like lobster rice, croquetas, and perfectly grilled churrasco. Onno’s Café, just steps from the amphitheater, is a laid-back spot popular for cocktails and quick bites. Other notable places include Chilango Taquería for tacos, La Piazzetta for Italian dishes, and Dye Fore Bar for drinks with a panoramic view. It’s important to note that after 5 p.m., non-resort guests are not allowed to dine in the village unless invited by someone staying in Casa de Campo, so plan accordingly if you’re visiting for the day. Parking is simple and close to the entrance, especially near Onno’s. The village is best explored on foot, but wear comfortable shoes, as the cobblestone paths can be uneven. Arriving early in the day allows for a quieter visit and the best photo opportunities, while sunset brings a magical glow over the river valley that’s hard to forget. Altos de Chavón also houses a fascinating archaeological museum with thousands of artifacts from pre-Columbian cultures. For those interested in hands-on experiences, there are art studios offering pottery, weaving, and silkscreen workshops. The village is home to a prestigious design school affiliated with Parsons, making it a creative hub where you’re just as likely to meet students sketching as tourists exploring. On certain weekends, you might stumble upon a local artisan market, with live music and handcrafts adding even more charm to an already special visit. Concert nights bring the village to life, and if you plan ahead, attending a show at the amphitheater is an unforgettable highlight. Altos de Chavón isn’t just a tourist attraction. It’s a carefully crafted escape filled with beauty, history, and inspiration. Whether you’re drawn by the architecture, the art, the music, or the peaceful atmosphere, this hilltop village offers a glimpse into something truly timeless in the heart of the Dominican Republic.

Teeth of the Dog Golf Course, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas

Golf course
The Teeth of the Dog Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Caribbean, is a renowned 18-hole golf course located by the mesmerizing waterfront. It is often regarded as a must-play course in the region and stands out with its stunning ocean-hugging holes that resemble jagged canine teeth. Designed by esteemed golf architect Peter Dye, this championship course is one of three distinct courses within Casa de Campo luxury resort spread across 7,000 acres in La Romana.
AMAZING golf course and experience!! Had a wonderful time, views are spectacular!! I've played Pebble Beach twice and this is more scenic. Course was in great condition. My caddie Javier was also excellent. Will definitely be back.
J. A — Google review
Some golf courses are played with clubs. Others are lived and remembered long after the final putt. Teeth of the Dog, the legendary Pete Dye design at Casa de Campo in La Romana, belongs firmly in that second category. It is not just the top-ranked course in the Caribbean. It is an experience that demands respect and rewards precision, offering one of the most memorable rounds of golf anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. Carved out of coral rock and Dominican coastline in 1971, this course was Pete Dye’s personal favorite. Seven of its holes run so close to the Caribbean Sea that ocean spray sometimes reaches the green. But it is not just about the scenery. Teeth of the Dog is a test of strategy, discipline, and creativity. The layout moves effortlessly between coastal spectacle and quieter inland moments, creating a rhythm that keeps players alert and engaged from the first tee to the eighteenth green. From holes 5 to 8, the course bares its teeth. Hole 5, a par 3 perched beside the waves, punishes indecision. Hole 7 dares players to cut the corner of a dogleg wrapped around the sea. Later in the round, hole 16 presents one of the toughest challenges. It is a long par 4 framed by the ocean on the left and wind that shifts direction without warning. On a breezy afternoon, a par here feels like a small triumph. Course conditions are superb. Fairways are tightly mown and offer excellent roll. Greens are quick, true, and subtly contoured. The bunkers are sharp-edged, clean, and never placed randomly. Every hazard matters. The rough is playable but penal enough to encourage discipline off the tee. Drainage is excellent, even after heavy tropical rain, and signage throughout the course is discreet and clear. Support facilities meet the standards of elite private clubs. The clubhouse has sea views and a relaxed but refined setting for lunch or a drink after the round. The pro shop is well-stocked with top-tier brands and offers excellent service. Practice facilities include a full driving range with natural grass, short-game area, and large putting greens that accurately reflect the speed and texture of the course. Locker rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Caddies are knowledgeable and offer the right balance between guidance and discretion. Currently, the course is undergoing a full restoration led by Jerry Pate Design, scheduled from January through December 2025. The work includes re-grassing the entire course with Dynasty Paspalum, rebuilding bunkers, restoring original green contours, improving drainage with sand-capping, and renewing cart paths with concrete curbing. The project honors Pete Dye’s original design while enhancing long-term playability. Though closed for play as of July 2025, the anticipation for its reopening is high, and deserved. Teeth of the Dog has hosted the Latin America Amateur Championship and other major regional tournaments. Green fees for resort guests are approximately $395, including cart and practice balls. Early tee times are recommended to enjoy calmer winds and a quieter atmosphere. Non-golfers can relax at the Beach Club or explore nearby Altos de Chavón, a replica Mediterranean village offering panoramic views and cultural experiences. The course suits low to mid-handicap players best, though forward tees provide access to the design’s beauty without overwhelming less experienced golfers. From December to April, conditions are ideal. Year-round play is viable thanks to excellent maintenance and thoughtful course engineering. Once your round ends, stop by the 19th Hole Bar for something light and refreshing. It’s the perfect closing ritual, quiet, shaded, and steps from the final green. If you found this review helpful, please consider follow & leaving a like. 😉❤️

Immaculately maintained course with breathtaking views of the sea. It was designed by Pete Dye and it is the only course in the world with seven holes bordering on the Caribbean Sea. They are collectively known as the “holes created by god”. For the most part, the caddies were knowledgeable and helpful with few exceptions. The only real downside is the absolutely outrageous price. For a single who is a hotel guest the cost is $575 Canadian including the $100US mandatory cash tip for caddy service. Club rental adds about $100 on top of that plus 18% mandatory taxes. It all adds up to about $800 Canadian per game. This makes for a crazy expensive golf week on top of the huge accommodations costs. The only other thing worth mentioning is the Pro Shop. We shopped here during the afternoon when it was quiet and although there were few shoppers and three sales clerks, no one was interested in selling anything to us. The women all chatted away to each other in Spanish and basically ignored us. Not cool by any standards let alone at a luxury golf establishment. Given the prices, a little service would have been appreciated.

Honestly, I came to the Dominican Republic for Teeth of the Dog. Maybe my expectations were too high, because I felt slightly—just slightly—disappointed. It’s a good course, no doubt, but with so many great options here, I’m not sure it’s top 100 worthy. Still glad I played it.
MAX K — Google review
Played both Teeth of the Dog and The Links. Both amazing courses and the caddies are amazing. Nothing matches up to this in the world, definitely play if you get the chance! The ocean holes are what golf dreams are made of.

Wonderful experience! Well designed beautiful course and breathtaking ocean views. I've played Pebble Beach and this is right up there or better. That's why I played this course often. I never got tired of it. Staff was friendly and cordial. The 19th green with all the free drinks was a great after event to gather all of our scores to wrap up a great day of golf.
Rafael S — Google review
It's one of the most beautiful courses you can play. With spectacular views, challenging holes, and ocean breezes, you can have a round to remember. Course is kept in immaculate shade. Everything is pressed, cut, and groomed to perfection. No wonder it's in the world's top courts. Staff is knowledgeable, polite, and very helpful. You'll pay a little more to play here, but you should have a blast.

Request Rene Division! Teeth of the Dog was under renovation so I played Dye Fore, where Rene Division was my assigned caddie — he was outstanding, and I’ll be requesting him for every round I play moving forward at Casa de Campo!

Minitas Beach Club & Restaurant

Minitas Beach is a picturesque stretch of sand located at Casa de Campo Resort and Villas, covering 7000 acres of Dominican seaside. The resort offers an elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere with a replica Mediterranean Village and Grecian Amphitheater. Visitors can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a luxurious yacht club environment with sweeping views of the beach. While the food options may be lacking for some, others find delight in the Spanish cuisine and flavors like paella and Arepas appetizer.
The food was so fresh and yummy! I got the Salmon! The coconut custard and cheesecake were my favorite desserts at the resort! They have vegetarian options which is always a plus! My husband had the pizza and my son had the whole fried fish! Everything was scrumptious!

One of the freshest most delicious calamari I have ever had. Not your regular frozen calamari. You can tell they make it there, and it comes with an amazing black aioli. Signature drinks were unique and different from others as well. Very fair priced with excellent service. Will return.

Minitas Beach Club & Restaurant was delicious! The food was incredible. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was memorable. Highly recommend eating here.
Scott G — Google review
Minitas Beach Club, located within the exclusive Casa de Campo resort in La Romana, is far more than a beachfront restaurant. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed into a relaxed yet refined atmosphere where every detail feels intentional. Few places have made me feel as genuinely cared for. The service is one of the restaurant’s strongest assets, led with grace and professionalism by maître d’ Yosary Sánchez, alongside Service Manager José Doroteo and a remarkable team that includes Yorbel, Natanael, and Yensi. Their attentiveness feels natural, never rehearsed, and their warmth elevates the entire experience. The setting is stunning. With open-air seating just steps from the Caribbean, the space is designed with light woods, neutral tones, and clean lines that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Whether you’re visiting for lunch under the sun or dinner beneath the stars, the atmosphere is consistently serene. If you’re with an adults-only group, I highly recommend spending time at the oceanfront infinity pool. Reserved exclusively for adults, it offers a calm, elegant space with full service and unobstructed views of the sea. The food reflects a thoughtful blend of international and Caribbean flavors. The tuna tartare with Dominican avocado and citrus emulsion is a standout starter—fresh, vibrant, and well-balanced. The grilled dorado over coconut risotto is perfectly executed, both delicate and flavorful. For a heartier option, the Caribbean-spiced lamb rack is rich and tender, cooked with precision and full of character. The drinks menu also deserves praise. The wine list includes labels from Europe and the Americas, while the cocktails are creative and well-crafted. The Ron Fashioned, made with aged Dominican rum, cinnamon, and cacao bitters, is particularly memorable. Happy hour is offered daily from 5 to 7 p.m., with select cocktails at half price, making it the perfect moment to enjoy the view and a carefully mixed drink. Nearby, several other venues complete the experience. Minitas Market, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., sells artisanal gifts, beachwear, and local gourmet items. Minitas Deli & Pizza offers wood-fired pizzas and sandwiches from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., with its own happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Palmita Café is ideal for breakfast or a light snack and is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the beach, you’ll also find casual options like Brasa and Massa food trucks, the Squeeze Juice Bar, and Cinco Ice Cream Shop. A little-known fact about Minitas Beach Club is that its current culinary and design direction was inspired by the visit of a well-known Catalan chef in 2018, who encouraged a complete reimagining of the space. Since then, the restaurant has hosted international artists, designers, and celebrities during private events at Casa de Campo, earning a reputation for discretion and quality. Minitas Beach Club is open daily from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., with bar service starting at 10 a.m. The infinity pool operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is reserved for adults. Sunday brunch, from 12 to 4 p.m., features live cooking stations, ambient music, and off-menu specials. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, and dress codes apply: casual by day and resort casual by night. Swimwear is allowed in lounge areas but not in the main dining room. Minitas Beach Club is not just a place to eat. It’s a place to savor the moment, appreciate the setting, and enjoy genuine hospitality at every level. Whether you’re here for a romantic evening, a long lunch with friends, or a peaceful solo escape, it delivers a consistently memorable experience. If you found this review helpful, please consider leaving a like and follow me. 😉❤️

We came here for lunch every day and could not get enough of the food. There are so many amazing bits of Spanish cuisine to try out, including a couple flavors of paella which is traditionally a popular choice. Highly recommend the Arepas appetizer. The main seating area also has a direct ocean view, which makes for a relaxing and scenic atmosphere. The neighboring pool is adults-only, and also has its own bar right next to it.

Beautiful private beach/beach club, a little expensive but its clean and you have all you need. After you pay an entrance fee you can spend as much time as you want there. Food and drinks are of course additionally charged. Calm water and overall enjoyable.

Vibes. Views. Service. Food. This place has it all. Besides the seafood platter and other amazing options, the zucchini fritters are absolutely superb - could have eaten a full meal of just those. A must have snack or starter.
Mikefitzgerald — Google review
The view was great and so is the beach. Relaxing and friendly. It’s a quiet beach, perfect for families. However the only thing that let me down was the food. The choices were not the best and quite lacking and it also took quite a long time for the food to come. I expected from a place like this for the standard to be higher but maybe my standards were too high. Although i would definitely recommend going to the beach for the great views.

Excursions with Mariposa Tours in the Dominican Republic are more than just a wonderful experience, they are adventures. We have taken 4 different excursions with Mariposa, both to inland sites as well as to beautiful nearby islands in the Caribbean Sea. Each of these are full day experiences with multiple sites of interest along the way. The guides are multi-lingual and very knowledgable, able to answer any question you have. We especially appreciate their attention to details of safety. Always very professional, the staff ensures that you also have a lot of fun along the way!

Gabriel is very kind and cares about your tour from the beginning. He should improve the service by having all the information about every different tour when chatting over WhatsApp because sometimes you just want all the information of a particular tour in text in your WhatsApp and not get the information through a phone call. We did the Saona tour in speed boat (round trip) and we loved it, very punctual, we visited nice beaches away from the crowd. The food was ok. They run out of rum at the end, it would be better to have an extra bottle just in case.

L' Ombelico Del Mundo is a restaurant in the heart of La Romana offering delectable cuisine. Their appetizer, the seafood mix, and their entree, the whole fried fish, are both mouthwatering options. However, it's important to note that the service can be slow at times, even when there are only three occupied tables. The passion fruit juice may not be as fresh as expected.

I had a beer and a Hamburger with fries, dine in. It wasn't busy, 3 maybe 4 tables were occupied, one couple just had wine. I waited 30 or 40 minutes for a so-so burger that was under cooked inside. I brought it to the attention of the cook as he was outside on his phone. Sorry I have to be honest, it won't take much to improve. Pizza seems popular.

Delicious meals: Seafood mix (appetizer) and whole fried fish (entrée). Service was pretty slow (only 3 tables occupied at the time, we were the first out the 3 to sit and order), so maybe not the best if in a rush. “Fresh” passion fruit juice was okay. (Not really “that” fresh)

Saona Island, located in the southeastern side of the Dominican Republic, is a popular destination known for its serene beaches and coral reefs, making it a favorite among divers and snorkelers. The island is surrounded by lush natural beauty and offers stunning views across the sea. With approximately 2,000 visitors daily, it's evident that Saona Island is a beloved spot for both locals and foreigners alike.
Visiting Saona Island was one of the highlights of my trip to the Dominican Republic! This place truly feels like a tropical paradise, with its crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft white sand, and swaying palm trees. It’s exactly what you picture when you think of the Caribbean! The boat ride to the island was an adventure in itself—starting with a speedboat ride and a stop at the famous Natural Pool, where we waded in waist-deep, warm waters surrounded by starfish. On the way back, we took a catamaran cruise, which was a relaxing and fun experience, with music, dancing, and drinks included. Once on the island, the scenery was breathtaking. The beach was pristine, the water was perfect for swimming, and there were plenty of lounge chairs to relax under the sun. The tour included a buffet lunch, which was pretty good, and drinks were available throughout the stay. The only downside was that it can get crowded, especially around lunchtime, since many tours visit at the same time. However, if you walk a bit further down the beach, you can find quieter spots to enjoy the beauty of the island. Overall, Saona Island is a must-visit if you're in Punta Cana or nearby! The stunning landscapes and relaxing atmosphere make it a perfect day trip to escape and soak in the Caribbean vibes. Highly recommended! 🌊☀️

Most beautiful island I’ve ever seen which such lovely people on the island, great buffet lunch fresh and lovely (included in our excursion). You also see cute grabs scattering about. Though If you’ve booked an excursion with open bar and buffet- this excursion is a bit manic as it’s not very organised in timings. We only got 1.45 hour on the island when originally we were told 3. So make sure you pick a good provider with good reviews. Also be prepared to pay a load of money if they take your photos..

The most magical and stunning beach (island) I ever visited in my entire life. Words are not enough to express my feelings toward this island…
Hardik P — Google review
Isla Saona is absolutely stunning, a bounty island. The sea and the island are breathtaking and the natural pool stop is awesome (children can stand in the water, but please leave the animals alone). Fast boats are worth the extra cost: a slow boat wastes time and you’ll just get sunburned; for young people, the party-boat option is a lot more fun. Drinks sold on the beach can be expensive — try one and share, but bring your own drinks and sandwiches (pancakes and fruit from breakfast work great) to be safe, because on the boat trip they will asume you’re meat lover meat and/or pork. Not enough fruit and veggies for vegans and vegatarians! Bring a big hat and reapply sunscreen constantly — 10–20 times if you don’t want to come back like a red lobster. This goes for skin types white to brown. Bring you own musicbox and create youw own vibe. The view is magnificent either way and well worth the trip. This is a must see Island!

Isla Saona: Nature’s VIP Lounge — Five Stars, Zero Complaints If you’re ever in the Dominican Republic and don’t take a trip to Isla Saona, did you really even go? Because let me tell you, this island isn’t just beautiful — it’s a living screensaver, but with actual sea breezes, giant starfish, and zero Wi-Fi (which is honestly part of the magic). Getting There: We arrived on the island like explorers of old — except with sunscreen, sunglasses, and a boat full of excited tourists and reggaeton beats. The boat ride itself was a highlight: blue skies, turquoise waters, and that feeling that you’re slowly leaving reality behind. (Pro tip: don’t sit near the speakers unless you want your ribcage massaged by bass.) Nature Up Close and Personal: Once we landed, it felt like stepping into a postcard. Nature doesn’t just “surround” you on Isla Saona — it basically hugs you. Palm trees lean casually over the beach like they own the place (and honestly, they do), while the soft white sand welcomes you like a powdered donut made of dreams. Yes, there are some seaweed patches washed ashore, but they’re not the nasty kind — they just kind of vibe there, like nature’s beach towels. Nothing smelly or gross, just authentic seaside realism. Think of it as seasoning for your Instagram photos. The Water & Underwater Wonderland: Now let’s talk water. Crystal clear, bathtub warm, and shimmering like liquid turquoise. The kind of water that makes you rethink your entire life and wonder why you don’t live on a beach full-time. Whatever you do: BRING YOUR SNORKEL AND MASK. I’m not kidding. This is not a drill. The underwater life is next-level. We saw giant seashells (the kind you could hear the ocean from... probably because it was literally still in the ocean), and massive starfish that looked like they were training for the Sea Olympics. It’s like swimming in an aquarium, but without the glass or judgmental fish. Turtle Rescue Station (aka: The Surprise Gem of the Island): In a little village on the island, we stumbled upon a sea turtle rescue center — yes, really! Not only was it fascinating, it was heartwarming to see locals working to protect these ancient, flippered creatures. We learned a lot (and possibly got a little emotional, but let’s blame the saltwater). A great stop if you want a dash of education with your sunburn. Final Verdict: Isla Saona is paradise with personality. You get untouched nature, pristine beaches, epic snorkeling, and even a feel-good turtle experience. It’s the kind of place where your soul exhales — and where your phone battery dies, but in the best possible way. Five stars. Ten if I could. Just go. And don’t forget your snorkel — or your awe.

We visited Saona Island during our holiday in the Dominican Republic, and it truly felt like stepping into a postcard. The turquoise waters were unbelievably clear and calm, perfect for a swim or just soaking in the beauty. Towering coconut trees lined the shore, swaying gently in the breeze — it was nothing short of breathtaking. The island has a dreamy, tropical charm that makes you want to stay forever. While it was a bit crowded with tourists, it’s easy to understand why so many are drawn to its natural beauty. If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, Saona Island is a must-see — just be prepared to share the paradise with others. 🌊🌺🐚

If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, Saona Island is an absolute MUST! From the moment you step off the boat and feel the soft white sand under your feet, you’ll understand why this place is often called paradise on Earth. The views are unreal — crystal-clear turquoise waters, endless palm trees, and a peaceful breeze that makes you want to stay forever. We took a catamaran tour that included a stop at the natural pool, where we swam in shallow waters and saw huge starfish. It felt like something out of a dream! The guides were fantastic — friendly, fun, and full of interesting facts about the area. Lunch was served right on the beach and included delicious Dominican-style food and drinks. Everything was relaxed and beautifully organized. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Whether you want to take stunning photos, snorkel, dance on the boat, or just soak up the sun — this trip has it all.

Palmera Turistica Saona

Beach
Palmera Turistica Saona, located on Saona Island, is renowned for its stunning pink sand beaches and rich marine life. One of the most famous spots, Playa del Gato, offers pristine conditions and an abundance of sea creatures. Visitors can explore various beautiful beaches on the island. The sand is white and the water is clear with a heavier consistency that keeps it less murky when disturbed. The shallow waters extend far from the shore, making it safe for children to play in.
They call this "The Pisina Natural." You take a boat ride to the middle of the ocean, and the water does not pass your waist in depth. From there, they take you on the beach to enjoy an authentic Dominican lunch, drinks, massage, and more. From there you get on another boat for a party. They have 2 photographers depending on the size of the group on excursion, so you don't have to worry about taking photos. Great excursion.

A beautiful beach with BLUE water and white sand. Our catamaran trip was well worth it. The buffet was very good.
Denise L — Google review
This place is possibly the most beautiful island I have ever seen. There isn't much to add to this. The sand is white and the water is clear. The sand has a heavier consistency which means the water is less murky when the sand is disturbed. The water is shallow for several feet away from shore. My children, 11 and 9 yrs old, and I were able to venture out nearly 300m from shore and the water still came only to the chest of my 9 yr old. In short, the beach is like an enormous pool. My only issue is the the water is filled with rock that can cause real damage to unsuspecting toes. Be extremely careful when walking or wear water shoes that have a rubber sole. Also, patrons on the island try to sell you everything. Women will approach you and begin massaging your back to entice you to a massage. Nothing sexual. They just want you to accept the invitation for a massage. They don't discriminate. They approach men, women, and children.

Saona is BEAUTIFUL! The pink sand is so soft, there are seashells everywhere on the beach. We were served a simple but delicious lunch. We took a party boat from Bayahibe which was a blast, and then stopped by the "natural pool" and found starfish! It was so much fun, we highly recommend going!

The Excursion to Isla Saona in Catamaran Colonial Tour and Travel offers this tour to Isla Saona, which is the most sold tour in the Dominican Republic, starting from the hotels of Punta Cana-Bavaro, La Romana-Bayahibe. Juan Dolio, Boca Chica or Santo Domingo at 7:00 am in comfortable buses with air conditioning and bathrooms if they are large buses until you reach the picturesque town of Bayahibe at 9:00 am. From the beach of Bayahibe we will embark on a beautiful catamaran with all the security measures and accompanied by expert guides in all languages. During the trajectory towards Isla Saona on the catamaran you can enjoy snacks and national alcoholic beverages and water, soft drinks as well as try the delicious tropical fruits. Immediately you will enjoy the beautiful views of the true Caribbean and its transparent waters with white sands like salt until you reach the famous Saona Island at around 11:00 am. It is the custom of hikers to bring some candies to give to the children of the small fishing villages that live on the Island. There will be time to take a delicious bath in its clean and crystal clear waters of the beaches of the island where we have a special area reserved for customers with chaise-longues while some people enjoy entertainment and classes of Merengue and Salsa with our staff of animators and others will be collecting snails or taking pictures of the beach. But ... they are close to 1:30 p.m. and hunger attacks us. In a restaurant area covered with beautiful palapas and palm trees we will have a delicious buffet based on lobster spaghetti, fish, chops, grilled chicken, green and Russian salads, white rice and legumes, tropical vegetables and fruits, coffee and drink local included. We will rest that magnificent lunch taking the soft breeze of the Island and talking with the hospitable islanders or we will nap on the beach. At 2:30 pm, we will return by comfortable and safe speedboats and it is almost mandatory to visit the beautiful mangroves, attached to the Catuano Canal, which separates Saona Island from the mainland. Where we will see a school of fish of all colors that approach the boats waiting for us to throw them and piece of bread. Then we continue to the largest sandbar in the area, where there are many marine species, especially starfish. The largest pool in the world, named for its shallow depth of 1 meter, crystal clear water, sandbank and 400 meters from the coast in the middle of the sea. It is there where the most charming toast is made, a true dream of the Caribbean

Our trip to Saona was amazing with this group. Great atmosphere and the people working want you to have an amazing time. They hit the mark on everything and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Danny (¡Chupi Chupi!) was a fantastic host that made sure everyone was safe and taken care of. Unlimited drinks and a very nice Dominican Buffett was waiting for us on Saona Island. Rafael (sorry if not spelled correctly) was also a top tier worker who went out of his way to make sure my wife and I were taken care of and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. He was also our photographer on this trip that took fantastic pictures; I highly suggest finding him to take your pictures! I see a bright future for this young man and I wish I could personally thank him (again) for his hospitality. If you are taking a tour to Saona, don’t hesitate to go with these guys, you won’t be disappointed. A++ experience that everyone coming to the Dominican Republic should witness for their own benefit!

Beach
Playa Dominicus, also known as Dominicus Beach, is a stunning coastal gem located on the south coast of the Dominican Republic. This Blue Flag Beach boasts clear and warm waters with minimal undertow, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The area offers soft white sand, palm-fringed shores, and beachside bars where visitors can savor the Caribbean charm. Playa Dominicus is also home to vendors selling food and water toys, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of this picturesque beach.
beautiful beach, of course a bit touristy and also more for snobs 😀 But even here you can find very nice living under $ 50 a night for 2 people, so it's not so bad. Still better of beaches in Bavaro in Punta Cana.

Playa Dominicus is a true Caribbean paradise, where crystal-clear waters meet soft, white sands in perfect harmony. Whether you seek relaxation or adventure, this breathtaking beach welcomes you with its natural beauty and serene charm.

They say that all beaches in the Dominican Republic are public but it's just not true in practice. This is one of the few public beaches that haven't been grabbed by the resorts and corded off. The parking is fine and it's a short walk to the beach, the water is calm and the sand is wonderful, but because it's the only public place nearby they squeeze everyone into a tiny space and I've never seen such a crowded beach ever. There are security people guarding the resort areas and you have to just stick in the small space they give you. There's a lot of music and dancing going on, and tourist stalls selling stuff like rings and towels and whatever. We walked along it and left without getting in the water. I don't think there was free space! I wouldn't go back.

It is hard to find the entrance since the is no sign (at least 2 entrances to the beach have a rocky road, without any care). As soon as you get to the sand there is a sign warning that "you ever a notsurethename hotel property... the public part where your can stay is really small and has no shade. You can see how well the private part is comparing to the locals stores on the other side, who don't even have a portion of sand.

Bayahibe, a charming Caribbean town in the Dominican Republic, is a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts. The area boasts stunning beaches and an impressive local artisan scene. Visitors can explore nearby Taino cave systems and enjoy the low-key vibe of the town. With its long stretches of white sandy beaches, Bayahibe offers a perfect setting for relaxation and beach activities. The town is near multiple resorts, providing access to various amenities such as dance classes and cocktail bars.

Beautiful beach. No public restrooms. Can get a bit crowded depending on the time of day you decide to go. Water was gorgeous.
Anjulee S — Google review
This place was near multiple resorts, so naturally has a lot of people. Public access is really weird but if you stay in the resort each part of the beach is “roped” off according to the resort you are staying at. Some have a dance class right in front and some have a cocktail bar. The place is a little crowded but a very nice walk on the sand and no one would bat an eye if you are there.
Kelly D — Google review
It's the public area of the beach. That being said, they keep it clean and the beach invites you to get in, as the sand under your feet feels like silk (really). There are a couple of places to eat (the fried fish is good) and they also take good care of the clients. The area is not crowded early in the morning, but after noon you may find a good deal of groups and families taking advantage of the beach, so keep it in mind.

Scubacaribe - Dreams Dominicus La Romana offers an incredible opportunity to explore the vibrant underwater world of the Caribbean Sea. With nearly ten diving clubs at your disposal, you can dive into stunning coral reefs and encounter a diverse array of marine life, including colorful fish, turtles, and more. Whether you're a novice or an experienced diver, there's something for everyone.
My wife and I took the ScubaCaribe trip to Saona Island today. It was an extreme pleasure from beginning to end. The staff were all friendly, and informational when examining the islands history. The food/drinks once on the Island were perfect, and the few hours of relaxation on the island was a nice break from the rush of the Resort. We took a giant Catamaran on our way back, and my wife and I laid on the front netting area which was amazing. Staff got some dance music going, and they were great at getting everyone involved in dancing, teaching those who didn't know, the dances to certain songs. Highly highly recommend this adventure to anyone who goes to Dreams La Romana, as it was probably the most fun, yet relaxation we've had our on entire trip so far. Andy and his team are all amazing. *cheers*

Submarino no recommendo… We wanted a short snorkeling trip from our resort and this “submarino” was really the only option - for about fifty bucks per person. Unfortunately, it did not go well. It seems like this is something they outsource and it was a gong show from the pick up at the reception area. The bus/van that was picking us up was not marked with a ScubaCaribe logo or anything and there was no signage or anything. After waiting 5 minutes past the scheduled departure, the driver eventually came up to us and asked if we were waiting for the Submarino (he spoke no English) and then was exasperated when I said “yes” - I assume because he had been waiting for us - not really sure - as we were standing with the other 7 people who were also going. Anyhow, once we arrived at the beach in Bayahibe, we were shuttled out to the “Yellow Submarine”. It took two shuttle trips to get all of the people out to the Submarino - about 40 people. After a longer than expected wait, we were guided to go to the underwater part of the boat which has seats and windows for viewing under water. The motor/transmission was making some ominous grinding noises as it started up and we moved only at a snails pace. The promise was that we would be trolling past some coral reef where one of the crew members would be diving and feeding the fish to enhance the viewing experience. Following this, we would be viewing a sunken ship. We saw none of that. After bobbing around in the water for 20 minutes, barely moving and seeing nothing but the sandy bottom, people started getting sick. It was very hot on the lower deck and the rocking without much forward movement was extremely nauseating. Everyone eventually evacuated back to the upper deck. After floating around in our own exhaust fumes for another 40 minutes or so, we eventually returned to where we started at which point we were able to snorkel for an hour. The Snorkeling was okay. Not what was expected again, though. There were a few coral mounds and a decent collection of fish. A few people had begun throwing up by this time but that’s likely largely due to the choppy conditions. I’m pretty sure that the main problem was mechanical malfunction. This boat does not look well-maintained. Only one of the two outboard motors was operating and the housing of that one was covered in duct tape (see photos). After everyone was eventually shuttled back to shore, we couldn’t find the driver that originally dropped us off. Eventually at taxi showed up with just enough capacity to take us all back to the resort. Overall, a pretty disappointing experience. The staff on the boat were courteous and reasonably friendly but they were certainly not set up for success.
Brent F — Google review
The friendly “beach salesman” did exaggerate a few aspects of the excursion, so it’s a good idea to ask detailed questions in advance. That said, for the price, it was an excellent outing. The crew was exceptionally friendly and polite, and overall it was a pleasant and memorable experience.

This was my second time diving with Scuba Caribe at Dreams Dominicus, and once again, they exceeded all expectations. I completed both my Open Water and Advanced Open Water PADI certifications with them, and every experience has been nothing short of incredible. A special thank you to Pavel, who went above and beyond during my training. He made sure I fully understood each step, corrected me when needed, and gave me invaluable tips to become a better diver and underwater photographer. He even recommended great places to find quality gear at fair prices. The entire staff at the dive center are amazing—knowledgeable, friendly, and always accommodating. Besides my training dives, I also booked recreational dives, and every site we visited was absolutely stunning with fantastic guides leading the way. One highlight was booking the Catalina Island snorkeling and diving excursion for my family. The team took such great care to ensure even the non-swimmers and our little one could enjoy snorkeling safely, while I had the unforgettable chance to dive alongside my son. It’s an experience we’ll cherish forever, and I’m so grateful to the staff for making it possible. Scuba Caribe has earned my trust and loyalty—I look forward to diving with them again, wherever in the world they have a center. Highly recommended for anyone looking for safe, fun, and professional diving in the Dominican Republic!

Disappointing unhelpful. As the on-site watersports centre for Dreams Dominicus I expected the same friendliness and hospitality as the rest of the resort. But not only were the staff unhelpful they told us that snorkeling off the beach was poor and we should pay 90USD pp to go on a "proper" snorkeling tour. A little upselling is expected but this was lazy customer service. The one Hobie cat they have was fully booked for today and tomorrow and you can only book it a day in advance, so I'll try again tomorrow.

I didn't stay at one of the main hotels, and booked the "Catalina Island Snorkel" package the night before we did it. It sounded a bit too good to be true. Although it technically doesn't open until 9, we were supposed to show up at 8:30, but they managed to get us on a boat anyway. They took us to "the wall" which was coral teeming with all kinds of fish, then to Catalina island where they had an open bar (rum with your choice of coke, sprite, or a beer) and souvenirs for sale. Then there was an opportunity to enjoy the beach, or go to the outdoor "aquarium" which had sting rays, starfish, and a sea turtle. They then served a pretty hearty meal, with plenty of food for seconds. The view of the beach was beautiful, then on the way back they had more rum and coke on the boat, and took us a bit inside the Chavón River which was really neat. A great experience and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Siwichi is a delightful dining destination that promises an exceptional culinary experience. The menu, while limited each night, showcases outstanding quality that keeps guests coming back for more. Diners rave about the delicious octopus and the fantastic starters, complemented by attentive and friendly service from the staff. Although one fruit option for dessert may have been slightly off, it certainly doesn't overshadow the overall enjoyment of a meal at Siwichi.

This place gave me and my boyfriend food poisoning on our third day of our holiday and enforced us to write a good review at the end of our meal (which I have since deleted). I did write a review about it before but it seems to have disappeared. Also after talking to other people at the hire. Looks like a reoccurring thing at this hotel that people get food poisoning, not sure we met one party of people where someone didn’t get food poising from this hotel.

Beware of hidden costs; the trip itself is entertaining! - We got the speedboat package for 99 USD per person, which included visiting a bunch of places, swimming in the pool and beaches. The crew put so much effort into keeping this fun and we loved it. - They also had a photographer who charged us 200 USD for the pictures he took along the way. I would suggest taking your own pictures or really negotiating the price down. We had a second excursion today for which we were only charged 30 USD for the photos. Other costs included tip, shopping at the island with some very persuasive sellers. The total ended up being $421, which really was a LOT more than we had expected.

Saona trips sail from Bayahibe Careful with private boats they may charge double instead of taking the big boat for a cheaper rate. Get repellent for insects since the island is in a very natural tropical state. Food is fresh especially fish. Beach is so quiet and clean you will like it.

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience on this excursion. We rode horseback through the national park. The horses we were steady and I never felt unsafe. After, we explored Chico cave where we were able to see many bats and stalagmites hanging all around and then take a dip in the cold cenote area below. They didn't tell us to bring bathing suits so I would recommend you do so if you are doing the cave portion. The guide was friendly and they have someone who will take pictures of you throughout the excursion for purchase. I included some of those photos. Great day! My 14 year old really enjoyed it as well!

Incredible trip with Captain Coco Ecotours, Roland (Captain Coco) and his team made our trip an unique experience that I hope I can repeat very soon. He really knows the country and showed us the unique beaches we were willing to visiting. He suggested some other excursions and I must say that they were all incredible and we had a lot of fun. They are very well organized, know everybody, know all places tourists want to visit and also secret places where you will never find a tourist. If you want to visit Dominican Republic Captain Coco Ecotours is definetly the best option.

We've booked the catamaran/boat trip to Saona Island. Since there was no website online at that time, we did everything via WhatsApp. The trip via boat to the island and the island itself were nice, as long as there weren't too many people. However, the way back via catamaran was a nightmare for us! The music was so loud we couldn't talk to each other any more and our ears hurt. Most people were very drunk, since Rhum was offered from the beginning. Several times they fall down while dancing. Moreover they did not have control over their drinks in their hands, they spilled it regularly and we were not always able to keep our belongings save from their Rhum-Cola drinks... Unfortunately the tour back took almost as long as the time we had on the island. According to the description of the tour we got via WhatsApp it was not clear at all, that it's a party tour. We would never have booked it! There is another tour, the VIP tour, which is supposed to be more quiet, as it was told us after our trip...

SeavisTours offers a popular day trip to Saona Island, which includes activities like snorkeling, beach time, and a barbecue lunch. The company also provides unique experiences such as visiting a local sugarcane plantation and tasting fresh sugarcane juice. Additionally, visitors can relax at Dominicus Beach with its white sands and clear waters. Guests have praised the exciting boat ride to the island and the beautiful teal water upon arrival.
My personal favourite excursion! I really enjoyed seeing different parts of the island , the village & people that live there , the turtle conservation (even though no baby turtles had hatched that day i still found it interesting ,) the stunning powder white beaches & clear waters, the mangroves where we saw turtles darting about, then the red cushion starfish! It was so well organised and exceeded my expectations , avoided the crowds and truly made us feel VIP . Our tour guide ingrid was amazing, really looked after us and made sure my children were happy the whole time ! You can tell she loves her job and enjoys the beauty of soana. I was undecided on which island to go to out of soana and catalina as I had heard catalina was quieter & nicer so we did both . I can confirm soana with seavis won by far !! I found catalina busy , full of sunbeds stacked in piles everywhere, i was hassled and followed to look in the gift shops , and there was a beach bar with party type music . The boat ride was long, bumpy and had music blasting on the way back . The trip to Soana was the complete opposite, speedboat there and back to make the most of your time on the island, full of hammocks & palm trees to relax , no party bars or boats just little wooden fruit trucks selling coconuts & pineapples. I heard the locals playing Caribbean music , they were friendly and didn't bother me to buy things off them . It honestly felt like paradise, & every stop we made there was something new to see. Obviously I cannot compare seavis with other soana tour companies , but i very much doubt they match the experience these guys give . 100% recommend

I was so incredibly impressed by our tour team and our experience! My husband got seasick and they were so incredibly caring and accommodating. When we reached saona a woman (not part of our tour) was very sick and no one could speak her language. Our guide (Laura) assisted her and her husband and was able to speak German to offer aid. This spoke to us so much that not only did she help them but could speak to them and find out what was going on. The food was so good and they had a great variety, especially considering it was on a boat day trip. The day was so beautiful, it was definitely our favorite part of our vacation!

My wife and I had an amazing ALL DAY experience with Seavis Tours yesterday! They picked us up at our hotel around 7am and it took around an hour to get their office at Bayahibe. They had coffee and water for us upon arriving. We chose the speedboat VIP tour of Saona Island and off we went! The boat was awesome! Really fast! We got to see some sights along the coast and then we stopped at the Mano Juan fishing village to see their Sea Turtle Conservation Project and have lunch. Lunch was a buffet provided that included: rice and beans, seasoned rice with some meat, chicken, fish, potato salad, green leaf salad, spaghetti (really good!) and drinks. Then we left to go to our beach time. We had a great time there. Then about an hour and a half later we left to go snorkeling! My wife had never snorkeled before so we were able to do that holding hands which was great! We left there and went to another spot where we got to snorkel in shallow water with starfish! They were huge!!! We also got to see sea turtles and stingrays in the water too! Our host/guide Ingrid was THE BEST! She speaks 5 languages: English, German, Dutch, Spanish and French! She was very knowledgeable about everything we saw that day. Everyone respected her everywhere we went! She was great!! For only $130/person this was an amazing value for being with them all day! This was the only excursion we did in Punta Cana abs I’m glad we chose SeavisTours! You should too!!

We did the Saona Crusoe VIP tour two days ago and our family of 4 really enjoyed it! Everything was extremely well organized and Ingrid was an energetic, hospitable and super-friendly guide. It was great learning about the island, the village inhabitants, the turtle sanctuary and the local sealife. We had perfect weather for sunbathing, snorkelling and taking in the breathtaking island and sea views! Thank you!

We had an amazing time with Seavis Tour! The speedboat ride was exciting and full of adventure from start to finish. Ingrid, our tour guide, was the best – incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was a fun and educational trip, perfect for families. We truly enjoyed every moment, and it was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended excursion if you’re looking for a memorable day out!

Our whole family enjoyed the Jungle Eco tour. Rosario was a fantastic guide! We loved everything about this trip: swimming in the beautiful cave, the boat ride, the lunch, the awesome fruit trail with trying fruit and cocoa, the kayaking as well as the overall fun atmosphere. Would highly recommend
Barbara S — Google review
We had a good Saona Island tour with Seavis, even if we faced a more challenging weather on that particular day. Booking communication was easy, and our guide, Ingrid, was fantastic – very knowledgeable about local culture and history. Saona itself is stunning, a top Caribbean destination. The "VIP" label felt inaccurate as the experience seemed standard: a common speedboat type, stops apparently similar to other tours, and regular food offerings without any special touches. The lunch stop at Catuano, por exemplo, we couldn't even bring some beer to relax at the beach.
Henrique S — Google review
Ingrid was an incredible tour guide. Our day adventure with her was the highlight of my vacation for the week. Baby Sea Turtles in the sanctuary, snorkeling, starfish, the mangroves, and viewing adult sea turtles swimming in the ocean. Not to mention a great lunch and good rum! Thank you Ingrid and her crew! I would recommend her day adventure for anyone!

Tanama Jungle Ranch

Tanama Jungle Ranch is a full-day excursion that offers a perfect blend of sea and jungle experiences. Located along the Rio Chavon, this tour provides a diverse mix of nature, culture, and adventure. Visitors can enjoy activities such as floating on a raft in the ocean, experiencing fish nibbling at their feet, and exploring traditional Dominican houses. The ranch also offers educational experiences with friendly staff and an opportunity to interact with cute animals.
Nice place to visit. Polite people and good idea if anyone want to see traditional Dominican house

This is a fairly large island. It's not easy to get too. Boats mostly leave from la romana. Some boats are quicker than others, but it's a minimum of 45 min on a boat, mine took about an hour and a half. Once there, my experience is it was just an all inclusive resort in a remote area. The Island is beautiful, but you are (unless you have your own boat) captive to whomever got you there and subject to whatever they think tourists want. Many different tour companies have there own spots, but they are all clustered together. Been there once, that's enough.

What a wonderful day we had. Pedro was wonderful with the palettes. Yancey did a great massage. The foot detox was fun. Floating on a raft in the ocean was fun, and fish nibbling at my feet was a great new experience. Everyone should try this. It was a great experience!

Dominicus Beach Bayahibe

(284)
Dominicus Beach Bayahibe is a stunning gem in the Dominican Republic, renowned for its breathtaking coastline and inviting atmosphere. This picturesque destination offers visitors a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. With its soft white sands and crystal-clear waters, it's an ideal spot for sunbathing or enjoying water activities. The area boasts vibrant local spots like the Bayahibe Beach Bar, where you can sip on refreshing cocktails while soaking up live music in a laid-back setting.
Stunning coastline,my favourite in the Dominican. Much better than punta cana as they suffer with the seaweed problem quite badly. This is also true Carribbean where the east and north coast are Atlantic ocean.
D — Google review
Visited Dominicus Beach today, and while it's quite a nice beach, the public area is rather small since most of it is taken over by the resorts. We tried to rent a sunbed with an umbrella, but they wanted to charge us $25 USD—even though it was already 2 PM! They wouldn't budge on the price, which I found unbelievable. We then decided to grab a small bite to eat, but the only available option was a small, dirty restaurant. They tried to charge us 1200 Dominican pesos for a plate of pasta. Having spent quite some time here, I’m familiar with the local prices, but it feels like things are getting out of hand. The greediness is unbelievable and really disappointing.

It is a very nice Beach although sometimes is very crowded. The beach is very nice and soft sand. Clean and beautiful water. No sargassum on this side of the island.

Dominicus beach Bayahibe 29.09.2025 It was invaded since yesterday with sargassum ( sargazo) Thease are the pictures from today and hopefully our holiday won't be completely ruined. The staff are cleaning the beach at the moment. Its our third day at Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus and we are very sad about the invasion of sargassum as we chose Bayahibe over Punta Cana by the reason that its sargassum free as the internet and reviews were stating but this is mother nature and you can't trust anything please know the risk before deciding to go to the Caribbean islands. Update: The sargassum was removed from the beach within two days and the beach was perfect.
Aliona C — Google review
It was so so so crowded! And despite the law saying that all beaches in the DR are public up to 60 meters past high tide mark the hotels along here claim it as their private beach and you can't go there except in the tiny area where they herd everyone in where it's roped off. It would be a good beach if the hotels hadn't stolen it.
Michelle M — Google review
Dominicus is a region in the Dominican Republic known for its beautiful beaches and resorts, making it a popular tourist destination.
Bel Z — Google review
This beach should be renamed Husstle Beach. If you are looking for a clean beach with a great welcoming crowd, then stay away! From the moment you step on the beach, you'll be swarmed by hustlers, and it never stops. Someone should let them know that the beach would be more of a tourist magnet without the land sharks following you around. If you get a chance while in the area, try to go to the cliffs and do some diving and snorkeling, but avoid this beach by all means.

Cave Chicho

Hiking area
Cueva de Chicho, located in Padre Nuestro, offers a unique swimming experience. Visitors can also take a short hike near the cave, but should wear sturdy shoes due to the sharp volcanic rocks. The entrance fee is $200 pesos per person and driving in with a 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to muddy and water-filled pits on the way.
A beautiful 🤩 place great experience Recommendation if you’re visiting this place make all posible to take with you a flashlight 🔦 you will be surprised 😳 of the amazing view. Also recommend to wear a swimming suit. I did not have a flashlight 🔦 with me and only with the lights of the cell I was amazed Brutally beautiful will visit again soon

Awesome walk and cave. Too bad they are not upkeeping the trail and signs. We did a circle trail route. Some plants you can still see the labels. Bring a headlamp for the cave. Road into parking a bit rough. We walked from the main road in.
Denise L — Google review
Beautiful cave! Not easy to get down in the water, but it was amazing and refreshing to swim in Crystal clear cold water! We loved it.
Justine F — Google review
Somehow it was so difficult to know how to get to this cave because neither the Internet nor the locals know much about it. Ended up walking on a sandy road under the hot sun for about 45 minutes because we weren't sure if we were going in the right direction. However, if you do know where you're going (especially if you're driving instead of walking), you would have more time to enjoy this cave, which really is worth all the walking in the heat and humidity. I've been to quite a few cenotes in Mexico. This one is different because you go down deep into a cave, which makes the ceiling very high. There are no safety railings nor lighting, so it's necessary to bring your own light. Quite off the beaten path. But the water is so clear that you can see the white rocks all the way to the bottom even with little light. Also there are some pre-colonial Taino sculptures, which is a bonus. Well worth the journey and very close to the center of Bayahibe. Glad the mass tourism companies have decided to keep this out of their itinerary.
Jeneen G — Google review
Follow Google maps! It seems sketchy but it will be okay! You will turn off the main road and go onto a dirt road, follow the dirt road until you get to a rope gate guarded by a friendly couple! You pay 200 pesos per person to get past the gate, make sure you have exact change! Keep following the road and Google maps! Try to have a car with 4 wheel drive, you’ll need it. You can stop and park wherever there is room! Keep walking where Google maps says, on the dirt road around to the left. You will hit the trail head, continue down the short trail and you’ll be at the cave! It’s absolutely stunning! Make sure to take a head lamp and some goggles to be able to clearly see everything! It’s a little chill when you first get in but so great after that! Would highly suggest water shoes to wear on the rocks! There are bats in the cave and bees at entrance, but not too many and we weren’t disturbed!
Sidney S — Google review
Cueva del Chico is an easy circular trail — you can find the route on Outdoor Active. First, you pay the entrance fee 200 pesos per person, then drive to the parking area. From there, you leave your car and walk the entire circular route. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the cave, and roughly an hour and a half to complete the full loop. The trails are not maintained and are poorly marked, but following a GPS track makes it much easier to stay on the right path. It’s best to go early in the morning, before lunchtime, since it can get dark later in the day. The water inside the cave is warm, and you can swim there comfortably.
Lorenzo — Google review
It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been swimming. Be sure to bring bright lights so you can enjoy the cave and water in their entirety in a safe manner, as well as showcasing just how beautiful it is

Amazing sea views, amazing food and just all round amazing!. Villa rentals are a must-do with some fabulous deals to be had. This is not a marina for foreign. visiting yachts. The staff were very disinterested, unknowledgeable, and rude, telling us to look on their website in reply to our questions about long-term berthing fees, availability and facilities, etc.. Demanding $50 USD per person to even allow us to see the pantalans & facilities for 5 minutes. I asked, "Did we waste our time driving here?" and the answer was a simple "yes" without even asking what kind of yacht or dates etc. Vote with your Dollars and go where you're treated best. Dye Fore Golf Course of Casa de Campo

4.8
(276)
Golf
Nestled within the Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic, Dye Fore Golf Course is a stunning 27-hole oceanside course designed by Pete Dye. The course offers a range of yardage to accommodate golfers of all levels, with twisting trails through the mountains and substantial elevation changes on the front nine leading towards the marina.
Knowledgeable caddies, spectacular views, great golf course to play with a number of challenging holes.
Shane B — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous venue for a superbly maintained golf course. Some very challenging holes but most of the caddies are genuinely invested in helping you score well. The only negative thing about Dye Fore is the extraordinary pricing. All in, one round per person will set you back over $700 Canadian , with club rental, mandatory cash caddy fees, 18 percent taxes, service charges, currency exchange. This makes for a very expensive golf week. Overall, Dye Fore rivals Teeth of the Dog as a golfers’ delight.
Juliet M — Google review
Dye Fore is absolutely stunning! The golf course is an example of detailed craftsmanship and perfection. The staff is extremely talented and kind. What an honor to play here.
Scott G — Google review
This is one of the top courses I’ve ever played. Infinity greens, looks like you can putt your ball off a cliff. The food is limited, just hot dogs. But the course is very well kept.
Marco C — Google review
It is a stunning golf course overlooking Altos de Chavon, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. From start to finish, this course exceeded all my expectations. First and foremost, the breathtaking views from this course are nothing short of spectacular. As I teed off, I couldn't help but be captivated by the panoramic vistas of Altos de Chavon and the surrounding landscape. The combination of lush fairways, rolling hills, and the picturesque Altos de Chavon village in the distance made every moment on the course a visual treat. The fairways themselves were in impeccable condition. They were meticulously manicured, providing a smooth and enjoyable surface to play on. The course layout was both challenging and fair, with a mix of long and short holes that required precision and strategy. Golfers of all skill levels will find something to appreciate here. What truly sets this course apart, though, is its ability to seamlessly blend the game of golf with the natural beauty of the Altos de Chavon region. Each hole seemed to offer a new perspective, whether it was the river running alongside one fairway or the elevation changes that added an extra layer of excitement to the round. In the end, my visit to this golf course was more than just a game of golf—it was a captivating journey through some of the Dominican Republic's most scenic landscapes. I can confidently say that if you're seeking a golfing experience that combines great sightseeing, well-maintained fairways, a touch of difficulty, and breathtaking views of Altos de Chavon, this course is an absolute must-play. It's a true gem that will leave you with memories to cherish long after you've left the 18th green.

The staff's accommodating nature ensures that every diner leaves satisfied.
i visited El Dorado today because of the good reviews i read. I was early in the evening so it was still very quiet. I asked for fresh fish and they showed me the fresh catch of the day. Perfectly fried fresh fish with smooth rice and a nice cold beer. You can tell from the people that came by that te place is well known and respected by the local entrepreneurs. I´m in Bayahibe for 3 weeks to finish my Dive Master course and will go back more often to El Dorado. Next time i wil take the meat. but this fish was perfect. The place is just around the corner and a bit hard te spot. But just ask someone and he will show you the way to good food and friendly people. And they speak good English and French.

10/10 omg the food was incredible the service was cool. She was helpful n at least she smiled at us n seemed welcoming. The view was incredible n I would definitely go back if given the opportunity. I finished this meal so quick n discovered I like eggplant. So good.

Nice spot to eat and vibe right off the beach. Now please make sure your waitress pays attention and understands what you want to order. My waitress brought me out the wrong meal after I told her 4 times to get it right and pointed to the menu 😂😔🫤🇩🇴 so yeah
Crystal S — Google review
The food was okay very average and expensive, the taste does not match the price, compared to other restaurants in Bayahibe. Poor service, no English, they didn't even try to understand us despite using translation. The atmosphere was good nice lights and view.
Zuzanna K — Google review
Great view, excellent mojito. I found my meal a little too bit salty for my palate. That seems to be common here.
Marlene S — Google review
Very delicious. We are vegan and even though the menu wasn’t vegan the server was very accommodating and he knew what to give us. Enjoyed the tomato pasta, tostones, French fries and vegetables. It was so good.
Inuredjoy — Google review
We ordered fish with Coconut sauce. The fish wasn‘t well cleaned and prepared. On the side we ordered „vegetables“ they served us Zucchini only couple pieces, most of it was burned. We complained and they didn‘t offer us anything. In the end after we pay „It was really expensive for what we got“ they didn’t even say thanks or sorry. Real place for turists… I really DO NOT recommend this place!
Mariana H — Google review
Fish was too dry. Pasta was great. Prices are above average, but portions are good. 10% fee is not included. The service is average. Also, they don't speak English.

This restaurant, IL Boccale Taberna, offers a delightful dining experience with exceptional food and service. From breakfast to dinner, the meals are consistently excellent and served promptly. The kitchen is immaculate and shines with cleanliness, reflecting their commitment to high standards. For dinner, they offer a generous meat platter for two that can easily satisfy three people. Although not awarded a Michelin star, this establishment maintains its quality by providing a clean environment and attentive service that extends even to the smallest details.
We visited this lovely café on a friend’s recommendation and were not disappointed! The food was delicious, and the pool added a nice touch to the relaxing atmosphere. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place worth returning to!

We had dinner there twice during our trip and breakfast once and we also stopped once for cocktails. Service was impeccable and the food was awesome for every meal. I highly recommend the steak.

What a great experience! We randomly walked in and were pleasantly surprised. The setting is beautiful, the cuts of steak were absolutely divine, and the house wine was incredibly delicious. Service was friendly and fast—couldn’t have asked for more.

You can’t miss this one! Really cool spot to go and enjoy great food and service. It has a pool! I think what makes this place special is the people working were very accommodating and friendly to us only English speaking customers. We ordered burgers and fries and they were excellent. Lots of unique and premium burger options. It was fun to enjoy our meal and hang out in the pool, it’s a cool vibe!

Good place for dinner, tasty cocktails and burgers. Atmosphere is nice. There is a pool by the tables. Place is not cheap. We had a beer for 250 pesos, Margharita 300 pesos, two burgers for 600 pesos and 650 pesos. Plus service charge around 500 pesos. Total price for two is 2400 pesos.

Came here for a dinner, a large group ordered before us so we had to wait for our food over 30-40 mins. Food was delicious. We had seafood risotto and seafood linguine pasta. Everyone was getting burgers we noticed. Got small platter of free bread which was nice. Ambience is nice but their fans were not running and it was pretty hot inside. Good restroom facilities

What a fantastic vibe! People are clearly enjoying themselves, but without being loud and a disturbance. Our party of 6 ordered a variety of meals and not a crumb was left. The fare ranges from light to heavier, vegetarian to carnivore. We were impressed with the freshness. The seating is not overly crowded. All are well shaded, some close to the small pool, some farther inside. Wherever you are, you’ll enjoy the restful, family vibe. Kids are welcome Start with a vegetable bruschetta. The caramelized onions are perfection. The hamburgers are tall and generously dressed. The sangria is delightful, memorable.

EL Chiringuito Pizzeria da Michele is a place that takes pizza seriously. Their dough and pizzas are made with precision, following authentic Italian methods learned in Naples. The result is a truly genuine taste of Italy. This restaurant has also gained recognition for their remarkable risotto, cooked to perfection every time. The food here comes highly recommended by those who have had the pleasure of dining at this establishment.
The may the best pizza in town! All the ingredients are top quality, and the service is excellent. Favorite items, the pinzas (specifically the Deliciosa!) and the Risotto with shrimp and zucchini!

Average pizza (had the Margherita and the ingredients did not taste that good). The staff didn't seem to enthusiastic to welcome or serve me - I felt like I was annoying them as soon as I stepped in. Prices are very good though!

Day 5

East side of town
For day 5, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Corazón de Bayahibe, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Padre Nuestro. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Corazón de Bayahibe

Corazón de Bayahibe is a hidden gem that offers an enchanting experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. As you make your way through the forest path, you'll be greeted by stunning landscapes reminiscent of volcanic terrain, thanks to the unique dead coral soil underfoot—so it's wise to wear sturdy shoes to avoid any mishaps. The heart-shaped formation itself resembles a natural aquarium filled with vibrant fish and fresh water that ebbs and flows like gentle waves.
A wonderful place! When you come out here from the forest path, it seems as if you got to a volcano, or something like that, because of this soil, which is actually dead corals (be careful, it's very easy to get hurt, it's better to go in sneakers). The heart itself is something like an aquarium with fish, where fresh water is poured in waves. A very beautiful and secluded place. P.S. it's interesting how the heart seems small when you take pictures near it and big when inside it))
Kate G — Google review
What a charming place. Located few km from the Bayahibe beach and port, this is an absolute gem of a place. Located amongst the rocky beach and shores you'll find many holes and caves with sea water gushing and roaring in. The Corazon is stunning. It's also pretty shallow, so you can get in and float inside. There are many fishes in it as well, so feels like a natural aquarium beside the roaring sea. Ensure your being in plenty of water and comfortable shoes, as the rocks are pretty sharp to walk barefoot or using flip flops.
Rakesh C — Google review
Great hike if you are staying in one of the hotels nearby like Tracadero or Whala. I enjoyed the hike. It's free. It was easy and we did it in the morning. Great way to start the day. I say it was a total of 20 mins. Follow the Google maps. If you keep going straight you will end up in Bayahibe. IG: love_to_exist

It's a tide pool that has fish trap inside it. The pool itself looks like a heart. Wear some good shoes, and don't attempt this in sandals. You can drive a small car down the trail to this area from the Bayahibe side. Good views of rocky shoreline.
B.J. G — Google review
This was a nice but short experience. I could not see any way to enter/exit the ocean here. The ocean is devine here, and the heart shaped pool is cute.
Beckett P — Google review
It's a hole shaped like a heart at a coral beach. Take caution when walking towards and away from it-- a twisting ankle situation. Otherwise a really nice area to visit when RD.
Kofi O — Google review
I initially wondered what the place marked as a tourist destination on my Google maps was, when I went to the place marked I found a pool with tropical 🐠 fish swimming inside. I didn't think this was the attraction, but perhaps it is - I took some additional pics of the shoreline. So, definitely interesting for kids but, although fish interesting, not something to go out of your way to see

My wife and I went here on a local's recommendation. We are from the US, so we weren't sure what to expect. The chicken is amazing and better than many restaurants back in the states. The sides were decent, but the star is the chicken. Get a few more pieces if you aren't sure what sides you would want. You won't regret it. If you are in the area, we loved and highly recommend this eatery.

Restaurant
La Pizza D'Manuel Ristorante - Bar is a charming spot that comes highly recommended by locals for its delicious pizza, featuring a perfect crust and flavorful sauce at reasonable prices. While the food, including their seafood pasta, receives rave reviews for freshness and taste, some visitors have reported less-than-stellar service experiences. The atmosphere can be lively due to its location on a busy street near a car wash, which may detract from the dining experience during the day.
Our favourite place to have dinner during our holiday in Bayahibe. We tried pizza, pasta, fish and meet, all was always fresh and tasty. The owner was always with a smile and very gentle. We hope to join again in the future!
Cristina S — Google review
Slow. Very slow. Also they brought us the wrong things. Too expensive for what you get. The meat was not good quality. The focaccia was more like a crispy flatbread. Just don't eat there.
Nikos P — Google review
Pasta with sea food was really great and super tasty, loved it. But, the place itself is on a busy street and right in front of the car wash with extremely loud music, so can be disturbing during the day, not sure about evening.
Egor S — Google review
Recommended by a local friend. Wonderful pizza recipe: perfect crust and great sauce. Great prices. We had awful, nightmarish service. If you are an interracial couple who wants pizza, you might want to go to a different place (there is no shortage of great Italian dishes in this neighborhood). The waitress was extremely disrespectful the entire time. We regret that we didnt just get up and leave at the first provocation, because it just got bolder. The first interaction was for her to ask me "And what do you want little missy" in a genuinely angry tone. She had profiled us as a "sanky panky" and customer simply because we are interracial. Though we did think that the woman may have spat on the food or beverages, we were so hungry that we didn't care (and the chances of mononucleosis or influenza were low). In any case, if we see different staff on our next trip, we may come back. The pizza itself was great quality and inexpensive.

The pasta here is incredible! We ate here twice during our stay in Bayahibe and each time the food was just delicious. Make sure to get the homemade fettuccine— it is definitely worth the extra small cost. The waitress was so friendly and helpful, and the kids loved drawing on the blank paper placemats. Make sure to bring cash- they don’t take plastic. Our group tried the salsiccia crema, gamberi salsa rosa, bolognese, 4 formaggi, pesto, and carbonara pastas, and all were excellent.

Mare Nuestro is a restaurant and beach club located in the exclusive area of Dominicus Bayahibe, just 30 minutes away from the town of Bayahibe. It offers a strategic location with a second-floor deck that provides the best view in town, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner. The restaurant has a good selection of seafood dishes and offers outdoor seating with views of the sea and nearby boats. Visitors have praised the friendly staff, excellent food, and service.
I've written reviews about Maré Nuestra before. But this time was 5+ stars. I can appreciate that ones taste buds change from day to day so I often don't expect the same excellent experience, however, the Wife and I have never had a bad experience here....not even a bumble...the staff operates in synchronicity as though you've been there and they rehearsed a pleasant dining experience with you ahead of time. We went tonight and no longer need a menu. I ordered caesar salad, shrimp cocktail and fettuccine Alfredo with Cameron's, (shrimp) My wife had Caesar salad and Caribbean lobster with fettuccine alfredo. And flan for desert. I ate as much as I could. We have leftovers which we will enjoy for lunch tomorrow. Can't wait for our next meal at Mare Nuestra in Bayahibe Dominican Republic!!!

We visited a handful of times during our two week stay in Dominicus . We made contact initially via Instagram to arrange a reservation . Beautiful garden setting and food to match . We also had a takeaway one evening when we had been to the beach. Thank you team Pomodoroni from Mark and Tracey K :)

Went there as we went 2 years ago and it was very good but yesterday was very disappointed! We took the pulpo ensalada: basically boiled potatoes with some slices of octopus. Then we took the salmon steak: way overcooked, dry and not seasoned, very dissatisfied. We also took the pennies with shrimps, ok with the Aldente but those were not enough cooked. The white sauce was good as well as the shrimps.

We celebrated my wife’s 40 birthday, so I searched for Italian restaurant and I found an Italian traditional restaurant with Italian owners. I contacted the owner earlier to ask if we can have a table with balloons. The owner was so amazing and also asked the color of the balloons and which cake to prepare. When we arrived the table was ready with the balloons and the owner received us very nice. The food was delicious and well served. The owner always asked if everything is ok. Once we finished to eat, they bring the cake with candles and sing “Happy Birthday”. It was very nice from them. Top recommend to eat a good Italian food in Bayahibe.

We went to this restaurant from a recommendation. It was fantastic. The homemade gnocchi were like eating at Nonna's! The pizzas were great as well. The bruschetta was simple but delicious! The prices were also good! Salvatore the owner was very nice and welcoming! The staff was great as well. We will definitely be back!

Lovely atmosphere. We were offered freshly baked pizza on the house while waiting for our foods. We had lobster pasta and grilled fish. Both were delicious. The owner spoke English so we had no problem communicating. Definitely recommended!

Family restaurant! Salvatore and his wife, the owners of this hidden gem, checked with us and made sure that our dinner was at his best. Highly recommended! Sorin&family
