The Plaza Principal Tequila is a must-visit when in the town of Tequila. The cobblestone streets and main square around the 17th-century church offer a quintessential Mexican experience. This area is home to iconic attractions such as the Tequila letters, a picturesque kiosk, and the mesmerizing Voladores de Papantla performance. These flying dancers spin around a tall wooden pole attached by their ankles, showcasing an ancient ritual that originated in Puebla.
Beautiful small town, clean, historic buildings a real step back in time. Brightly colored buildings, manicured trees and fauna. Visiting the Tequila distillerys is definitely worth a visit.

We had so much fun walking around tequila. We bought three bottles of special tequila only made here with no additives. Then we went to Cantaritos El Guero and bought way too much tequila. Had a blast. Downtown Tequila feels like a more exciting San Miguel De Allende. Loved it. We will be back.

The Plaza Principal aka Main Plaza in the town of Tequila , Jalisco is such a lively place to hang out in. There are several stores, outside bars, restaurants, hotels & people enjoying the day and night. It is a great meeting place where people watching is key. They have performances to enjoy as well. What a great place to visit and enjoy tequila and the town. During the month of April they host an annual Tequila festival. Sounds like a great time.

On a family trip and did a tour with an operator for 300 pesos per person that took roughly 2 hours, went in a barrel on a drive along historic sites in the center and to a small agave farm and distillery tour. Then did the center walking around and the best thing was watching the locals do an Aztec dance where they throw themselves off the pole. It's a must when in the center.

It was just another beautiful experience in one of those pueblos magico in MX, What can I say , it was just so much good vibes , walking around the plaza and sipping our tequilas. There are so many street food , vendors and shows around that , time just flies checking everything out .

Beautiful place, friendly people, great food, reasonable shopping. If you travel to Guadalajara be sure to check out Plaza Principal Tequila.

The National Museum of Tequila is a small but fascinating museum dedicated to the history and production of tequila, the iconic beverage named after the town. Visitors can explore the traditional methods used to produce tequila by embarking on guided tours at numerous distilleries in the area. From historic haciendas like Jose Cuervo and Herradura to boutique distilleries such as Casa Noble and Tequila Ocho, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about and taste different types of tequilas.
Fun little museum that walks you through the history of tequila, as well as the distilling process. Located about half a block fron the historic center, it is well worth the time. Plan 30 minutes to one hour depending on your interest. In the rear of the museum they also display the work of local artists. Entrance is 20 pesos for adults, and 10 pesos per child. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Cool spot for tourists to go and visit… If you’re going to Guadalajara, it is definitely a location. You should check out.
Kris M — Google review
Superb little museum, if it's your first time to Tequila. Charting both the history of the Tequila as a drink and a region, the rooms surrounding its central courtyard walk the visitor through the journey from Agave to Añejo. Despite this being a small venue, there's quite a lot of information here, accompanied by a multitude of exhibits, so setting aside an hour to an hour and a half to tour the museum, would be a good idea.
Sasch M — Google review
This place is very touristy. Lots of people at the heart of the town called Tequila.

This was a highlight for us. Great history, information and art. We went in the middle of the day on a holiday and it was pretty quiet. Definitely worth the small entrance fee to wander through.
Casey K — Google review
There is a lot of great information about the town, drink, and culture of Tequila. They had artwork as well as old bottles, tools, and distillery equipment. Definitely recommend stopping by while in town. It only takes about 45-60 minutes to walk through the museum.

I think the experience was ok. It would be better if the tour groups were split more evenly and you didn't have groups of 25+ with one guide. Hard to hear the guide at times. The tequila tasting was good and have a experience on how to drink tequila properly was fun.

Mexican restaurant
Restaurante La Fonda Cholula is a great dining spot located in the heart of Tequila Jalisco. It offers outdoor seating with views of the main square, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the rural charm of this area. Whether you're looking to conclude a tourist excursion, seal a business deal, or simply enjoy time with family and friends, La Fonda Cholula provides everything you need for a memorable visit to the Land of Tequila.
After walking around Tequila for a few hours we were ready for a break, so we stopped by Cholula right after they opened. We ordered drinks and decided on a light lunch, an order of guacamole and shrimp tacos. It turned out to be the perfect amount of food for us as the order of guacamole was pretty substantial. The tacos were good and we both were impressed with the guacamole. The restaurant was a bit slow while we were there, so we had a very relaxing lunch. The interior was very festive and the chairs very comfortable. The service was great throughout our visit. The kind of restaurant experience we enjoy.

Memorable place! Great atmosphere and amazing food. Everything made with fresh ingredients and was delicious. The service was amazing, friendly and fast. The tortillas are the best, handmade. Highly recommend it!
Yolie R — Google review
I went there four year ago and the food was good. I just went two weeks ago food is not eatables!!! I paid for the food but will never recommend. The waiter was so embarrassed with the food that he told me that they have no chef and that they indeed change the manure. Do not waste your money and time there. Example sopes were the size of 4 quarters put together super tiny and the thickness is like a tortilla. Portions are super small. I order there best meat and it was all burn fat in a small portions. My husband plate was not even chewable!! I paid because I was embarrassed to walk without paying. This is the first place I regret paying for the small pieces I eat. My husband had to go to another place to actually eat something. I wanted to vomit the food therefore I just did not have lunch for that day. The manager did not care he only told me a should be thankful for the good service BUt I went to eat!!!

Nice place to share with friends and family. Food and drinks were nice. The service was excellent.
Jennifer C — Google review
This is a cute place with good ambiance and very good service. Unfortunately, the food is about as bland as one can manage to make it, which is tough to do with such a naturally flavorful cuisine. The tripitas are not golden, but burnt and desiccated. The torta bread is dry and doughy, while the torta filling could be just about any kind of meat. The chicharrón ribeye is the best of what we tried, and I think it’s terribly dry, even by chicharrón standards. The queso fundido is genuinely confusing. It tastes like they are serving us white Velveeta. The lemonade tastes like they put in half a bag of powdered sugar into my glass. Lastly, the prices are rather outrageous for firmly bad to mediocre food. Nevertheless, I think that the service and atmosphere is good enough that I can give this restaurant 3 stars.
Jorge A — Google review
The service was phenomenal! My husband and I drove in from Guadalajara for the day. The food was exquisite! Ask for their in house salsa, may not be on the menu. The staff was really attentive and can communicate in both English and Spanish. Chepe was such a great waiter. Was so polite and attentive to all our needs. Honestly try this place if you get the chance!
Ha N — Google review
Definitely a must place to visit. I really like the place. It represents Mexican culture and mariachi. The food is good here. I ordered Enchiladas, Taquitos, some drinks and dessert. Everything taste so delicious and flavorful. The prices are on higher side but overall it is worth a visit.
Preeti G — Google review
Walking in, I was extremely impressed with the layout and decor. Nice full bar, this restaurant is very clean and upscale in appearance. The ambiance was great. The menu was nice and simple, making it easy to order. I ended up going with the steak made with tequila. I thought the food was delicious. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection. Nice, juicy, and tender. While I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch meal here, aside from the ambiance and environment, I really didn't think this place was anything too special. The food was great, the quantities were fairly small for the price. However, I know it's likely higher quality food than your average. The restaurant is impressive, but the offerings are somewhat meager. If you haven't been, it's definitely worthwhile to try.

Mexican restaurant
La Antigua Casona is a restaurant located in front of the main square, just steps away from the Central Kiosk. The decor has a baroque style and it offers traditional Mexican dishes. The warmth of the restaurant comes from its decoration and the aromas emanating from its kitchen. They serve typical regional dishes for breakfast buffet. Additionally, it features an upscale cocktail bar and is considered one of the best gourmet spots in town.
La Antigua Casona in Tequila is a gem! What a stunning location, blending elegance with authentic Mexican charm. The ambiance, with its colonial architecture and sophisticated decor, is simply breathtaking. The food is exquisite, perfectly capturing the essence of Jalisco’s flavors. A must-visit for anyone in Tequila!

A lovely restaurant with attentive, if somewhat over eager at times. The food did not match the expectation on our visit. The crab tacos were bland, the chicken breast with mole was so overcooked you could hardly cut it. The meat in juices (stew) was way too salty. Overall quite disappointing. Maybe we just chose badly since the cheese with tomatillo sauce appetiser was delicious. Not overly expensive, £40 for starters, mains and a couple of beers. Waiting staff tended to remove plates, or try to, before we'd finished, which seemed odd as the place was virtually empty. Can't really recommend but passable if your hungry.
Krishna M — Google review
The place is very calm and beautiful, they have air conditioning which complements well after a walk on the streets of Tequila on a sunny day. we ordered puntas de arrachera, puntas de pollo and tortas ahogadas. i felt that the price to taste for puntas de arrachera and puntas de pollo wasn't justifiable. The taste wasn't bad but was neither extremely outstanding or any different from nay normal restaurant. Tortas ahogadas tasted too tomatoey ans it wasn't that good at all, I would not order it again. something that really bothered me was how the waiters would occasionally come and peek at your table to check if anything was needed and that felt a little intrusive. It wasn't that busy and we could easily call someone if we needed something. The place is a bit pricey and the taste not that outstanding, hence the rating. But I did like the ambience a lot.

Posh dining area. Light air conditioning. Jumbo shrimps are very good, sauce slightly spicy and tangy. Tenderloin not as good, overcooked. Chicken breast too dry. Service is good, but will ask to tip for other staff/buddy as well who are supposed to be serving other tables.

Alejandro is a super sweet, caring and excellent waiter. Food was good. I loved the homemade bread and the cocktails. A bit pricy but beautiful location and surrounding. Thank you Alejandro 🥰

Food is presented very beautifully. Although I would say that it’s pretty mid. Typical Mexican dishes, average taste. Wonderful atmosphere, waiters, attentive. I saw another post saying that the waiters were too attentive. I feel like it has to be with. Me Jikan culture, because really any restaurants you walk into. They’re very attentive. Overall would come back. Maybe try something different.
Allie S — Google review
I had very high expectations for this place. It’s supposed to be the finest dining experience in the town of Tequila and the menu and the decor are excellent. The service was also supposedly good but after two times of my friend asking for his tacos without onions they kept bringing out the plate and he opened the tacos and there were onions. He was so frustrated he couldn’t even eat anything. They brought a bread to the table mid way through the meal and it had a hair on it. We sent it back. The good part: I had a good and generous portion of seafood pasta and the guacamole was good but also came with onions inside and the manager only offered a dessert. We refused it and i didn’t leave a tip and we left upset and unsatisfied. The management should be a lot more present. They were absent.

Quentin D — Google review
We went there two years ago. It was awesome. We spent a couple thousand dollars and several gallons of tequila. Good experience.. they gave us several tequilas to taste from which was good to make good choices of the Anejo and silver tequila we bought. We went back a few months ago and now it’s a total tourist trap. We did not want to go in the front door as we have already did the tour they made us walk all the way around the block which was about .5 miles. So we tried to sit down they told us we could not sit there because there was groups coming. I said I just want to buy tequila and have a good experience again. They told us we need to give them a tip. To taste the tequila and decide what we wanted.. I explained we’ve been here before. Just gonna have a good time in this hot no fans no air circulation environment. The chicken a$$ waiter solicited a tip, and then he asked where we were from. I told him we were from Matamoros Mexico.. he scolded us for not tipping him. Before we left, we still bought several hundred dollars of tequila. We will never go back to this tourist trap that it has become. …. what a disappointment. They heard you and like sheep now……

The Tequila Railway Station in Jalisco, Mexico is the starting point for an exciting all-you-can-drink train journey to the town of Tequila. The 11-hour excursion offers a pre-planned itinerary, so there's no need for reservations. In Tequila, visitors can immerse themselves in the culture of tequila making and tasting while enjoying various activities in the plaza. However, it's recommended to have a designated driver as this may not be suitable for children under 18.
This is the train station to take the Jose Cuervo Express. It's quiet, clean, big. But a little uncomfortable to get to from the Tequila town, since the streets that leads to the station sort of need some rebuild in my opinion. The station itself is beautiful and with a good view.

Tequila Jalisco, is a great destination place to have fun and enjoy all the amenities of the Tequila from the learning of Tequila making ,till the tasting. the plaza has lots of activities for the whole family, but i would say it is not a place for kids under18- please have a designated driver you will need it 😁

My wife and I love Jalisco and adore Tequilla. The people are, for the most part super friendly. Sadly, that was not the case with this place, it was the exact opposite of our wonderful experience in this region of Mexico. My wife got chilaquiles and they were cold, soggy and without flavor. Gross. I noticed that people arrived 15 minutes after us and got their food before I got my food. We told a younger guy that I had not gotten my food yet and he did not seem to care. 15 minutes later, we went to an older worker, maybe in his 50s, and he just walked past us. Just totally flat out ignored both of us. Very rude customer service, dirty place. You can do much better, avoid.

"Amor de Mis Amores" is a must-visit restaurant in Tequila, Jalisco. It offers a great environment to enjoy with family and friends. The food is delicious, and the service is top-notch. They have a good selection of wines and craft beers for drinks. While some find the margaritas too sweet, the overall experience at this unique restaurant comes highly recommended by visitors.
We stopped at this nice patio restaurant on Sunday for lunch. The plaza was full of music and people. I ordered the enchiladas suizas which were very good. The sauce was mild, lots of chicken, topped with greens and pickled onion. The crafted beer went very well with these enchiladas.

Love the location. We ordered boneless, 2 sandwiches, 1 brownie, 2 hot chocolates with cinnamon and water. The boneless are to spicy sour, not the good spicy, with the dressing it's better. Loved the sandwiches! The brownie is hard rock. I'm not kidding. We didn't believe my sibling until we tried to cut 1 piece count stap with the fork unless.hard pressure was applie, the ice cream is the cheap kind. Do not recommend. The drinks were great, only comment is to be extra careful as the mug gets hot on the handle, It will be great id the switched mugs

I ate here January of 2022 and had a bad experience. They served me a rotten and small steak. I really don’t understand how the chef didn’t notice. It smelled horrible and tasted awful. The place is pretty small so sometimes you have to wait for a while. The food is ok but it’s pretty expensive (the drinks as well) in comparison with other places that offer better space a better food and more variety. The place looks good and you get to see the floor view of the plaza and the side of the temple. I see that only foreigners come to this place; usually the locals go somewhere else

The pizza was mediocre, and the cook kept touching his sweaty hair while making pizzas without washing his hands. The crust was very cooked, but the toppings of the pizza were undercooked. The atmosphere was decent, but the lights at the tables were much too bright right above your face. The server was nice but not very attentive.

We came to ask for a few pizza to go, they were sleeping in the benches, inside the restaurante, at the tables. We place our order, then it took way too long and they did not have all the ingredients we clearly saw them going to buy ingredients for our orders! This got us way late after wating almost 1 hour to get the pizzas to be rady we just. They kept saying "it's almost ready" repeatedly. One of the worst experiences ina simple order to go.

Place was cute. Although this is probably the best trait of this restaurant, that and their presentation. Coming in, the waitress was sleeping on the floor and the chef sitting on a chair on his phone. Slow night? Coming in, waitress was nice however, not attentive to speed. I waited for 20 min for a lemonade, mind it was only me in the restaurant. Pizza fell short. Probably won’t come again.

Best pizza I had in a while. Highly recommend.

Space is super cute and quaint but food and service is lacking. Someone else said it best here, taste like frozen pizza dough. Beer was warm and mixed drinks were like Kool aid. Would not come again.

As a pizza chef for over 25 years, I can give this place one star. The fast food pi zza chains beat this place I am soory to say.. I have lived in Mexico for 10 years, my advise, would you go to China and order a hamburger ¿¿

This is not pizza, this is a big tortilla with ketchup and some cheese. The 'chef' is in the day the receptionist, and the waiters are to busy drinking and making party together.

I had an amazing weekend and I can't express enough how grateful I am to the restaurant staff, especially the owner and his wife. They displayed integrity and honesty by returning a valuable lost item, going above and beyond to ensure its safe return. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience and your unwavering support! I highly recommend this restaurant. If you're looking for a great destination, Tequila is the place to go.
Beautiful place to go eat.. Don't forget to ask for flan de Agave, It was super delicious. And they have a Columpio extremo too.

You must Go to Tequila, lots of tours, a variety of distilleries, and great food. People are super friendly and very Honest. As always do your research and plan ahead for lodging. The down town area has everything you need and want. Beautiful place.

Unexpectedly awesome. In the middle of what seems like nowhere and boom you are at this amazing outdoor restraunt . Nestled into hillside and Agave fields . View is awesome , food is fantastic akd the staff is incredible. We were curious about some fruit or nuts we saw growing on trees before we got to the place. They sent one of the wait staff back to go pick some and bring th to us to try . Pictures in the agave field are free to take . Did I mention the food ...lol It was terrific . We all ordered something different and it was all delicious

I want to share a wonderful experience that happened to me this weekend. Cannot describe enough how grateful I am with all the restaurant staff in particularly with the restaurant owner and his wife. They showed integrity and honesty by returning a very valuable lost item. They went out of their way and without hesitation gave it back to me safely into my hands. Thank you again for a great experience and your total support! I Highly recommend this restaurant.

The quesabirrias is something I would recommend or if you want to go with something more traditional order la Carne en su jugo! The service is great, and the view is phenomenal

Great food and great VIEW! Agave fields all around beautiful scenery!!

The view was OK good. The restaurant quality of food is not up to mark. We have ordered queso 🫕 chorizo - it was hard queso. 🧀 we also ordered chicharrón de pescado which was not worth for 250 MXN ( neither in quality and quantity ). We ordered cantaritos de tequila and it was good. Pls expect some flies on your table.
