Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Maui Ocean Center, The Aquarium of Hawaii, is a family-friendly 5-acre aquarium that offers a variety of species, including a tide pool and shark tank. Situated in Maalaea, it has become a popular attraction since opening in the late 1990s. Visitors can explore Hawaii's ocean ecosystem through interpretive exhibits, a 240-degree view tunnel, and one of the largest collections of live Pacific corals.
Worth a visit! This is a place to be informed about sea life, whales, turtles and all kind of fishes and corals. There is a lot of information displayed, too. You find many aquariums with the most impressive glass tunnel where you can see sharks, rays and other big fishes next to you, above and underneath. Another awesome place is to be informed about humpback whales. Don’t miss the 3D cinema thinking you’re under water next to the whales. You easily can spend 3h here to enjoy your time!

My fiancé and I, along with our friends, purchased the couple’s package for morning admission and a 3 course lunch. We had a lot of fun learning about all of the animals and took some incredible pictures. We got to pet starfish and a sea cucumber. We took selfies with majestic sea turtles. We had a lot of fun seeing sharks in the viewing tunnel. The humpback whale 3D video was very moving. Our lunch and drinks were delicious and we had a lot to talk about after seeing the exhibits. It was a great double date activity. The staff was great too, thanks so much!

The Maui Ocean Center was a great experience. I went with my sisters and niece. Kama'aina discount $29 adult regular price is in the $50 range as of October 2025. We stopped at the little "pools" where you can see many different types of ocena life. While they do have one where you can touch, I don't recommend that personally out of concern for the sea life, so we just look. Loved the underwater tunnel with all the sharks and fish and even the guy cleaning the tunnel in his dive gear. I suggest you take the time to enjoy the 3d experience which in October featured the humpback whales. No payment required for the 3d glasses! We had already eaten so we didnt get anything to eat. Many great exhibits and very educational. This is great for families with kids. Wear comfortable shoes and a lot is outside so take that I to consideration for clothing and sunscreen etc.

We were lucky enough to take a Behind the Scenes tour of the center, then spent time looking at all of the exhibits. It was amazing seeing all the conservation efforts at this facility. Staff was incredible, knowledgeable and engaging. It was pricey but I would do it again and again. If you have little ones, it's very conducive to entertaining kids.
Cathi B — Google review
Our visit here was very nice. The coral displays are the best I have ever seen. The fish and turtles are awesome. I learned so much about Hawaiian history and culture during my visit. It was a lovely way to spend more than a few hours on a day where the sea was too rough and the wind was too blustery to be outside at the beach.

I wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience at the Maui Ocean Center, which I believe is an absolute must-see if you ever find yourself in Maui. The variety of sea life on display is simply amazing. I was particularly captivated by the sea turtles; they are such cool creatures and truly mesmerizing to watch! Each aquarium was filled with interesting fish, and I can't help but mention how friendly the staff were—they added so much to the overall experience with their knowledge and enthusiasm. The atmosphere of the center was special as well, with everyone there contributing to a warm and inviting environment. Plus, I found that the admission price was quite reasonable for all the incredible exhibits and experiences. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, I highly recommend making a stop at the Maui Ocean Center. It’s well worth the visit!
TheMrDesertjoe — Google review
we LOVED the aquarium. It has so many fish. The grounds and exhibits were clean. Perfect amount of walking for small kids. They also have a cool 3-D theater that the kids really enjoyed. We normally try to avoid gift shops, but The gift shop was wonderful and it seemed fairly priced with some very cool Hawaiian gifts. Very large selection. $50+ per person was not cheap and have to pay for parking but it was worth the visit. $5 cheaper if you buy day before online.
KC M — Google review
I’m from O’ahu and our aquarium is very small. So, coming to this one in Maui, very nice change of scenery. There is so much more to look at. I was very surprised how big the tanks are and how vibrant the fish were. Definitely would recommend visiting here. It’s worth the $$.

PacWhale Eco-Adventures, located in Kihei, is a non-profit organization supporting whale research through cruises and snorkel tours to Molokini and Lanai. They operate various boats including the Ocean Explorer and the Manute'a. With 15 daily trips available, visitors can enjoy 2-hour whale-watching cruises at affordable rates.
Went twice this past week, 1 for Molokini Crater and 2 for dolphin watching. 1. Molokini crater was amazing and they got us a time slot that wasn't crowded at all. Super clear water with amazing sea life. 2. We must've seen 150 spinner dolphins and a couple babies!! So so gorgeous and then we still got to do a shallow snorkel at Honolua bay and saw around 10 sea turtles! For breakfast, it's pretty light, only some bread and fruit. Please bring protein or greens if you want that for breakfast. Lunch was amazing both times, you get your choice of protein alongside regular salad and Mac salad. Plus a cookie at the end :) Employees were all very professional and knew what to do when the weather didn't allow for the normal schedule. Snorkel gear worked pretty much perfect except for my partner's mask which had a crack in it and was very quickly exchanged for a working one by an employee. Overall amazing experiences and would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great initial snorkeling journey.

We had an amazing time with PacWhale Eco Adventures on the Molokini and Turtle Arches snorkel tour! 🐢🌊 The captain and crew were absolutely wonderful—friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to answer all our questions. Their passion for marine life and care for every guest really stood out. The food was great too—breakfast included croissants, pineapple, banana bread, and orange slices, and lunch was a tasty combo of burgers, salad, and refreshing drinks. Everything was fresh and well-organized. The snorkeling experience was unforgettable—clear water, beautiful fish, and such a fun time for everyone. They even had a lily pad for kids, which was a huge hit with our 3-year-old! It was perfect for little ones who didn’t want to jump fully into the water but still wanted to play safely. Life jackets and floating supports were also provided, making it stress-free for families. Overall, this trip was totally worth it—great value, great crew, and an incredible experience. I’d highly recommend it to all families visiting Maui! 🌺🚤🐠

It was an amazing experience! The crew were so helpful and nice. Captain Chris made delicious pork sandwiches. Everyone, literally everyone had so much fun!

Captain was named Aaron I think. Awesome trip to Molokini. Very professional group of 3 that directed our tour group of 20 snorkelers. They grilled up an amazing dinner for us as well, unexpectedly good for middle of the ocean.

Hands down the best experience on Maui. 4 hour sunset cruise with snorkeling, dinner, and a visit from a whale! The team-Capt Chris, Danielle, Jake, & Eneysia were beyond amazing. If you’re on Maui, visit the Ocean Spirit and Capt Chris and the crew. We saw 3 turtles, 2 sharks, hundreds of beautiful fish and a whale! BYOB on board
Brittany — Google review
3 out of 5 stars While there were aspects of the experience that were enjoyable, several key areas left much to be desired, which is why I’m giving a 3-star rating. To begin with, the cost of parking was surprisingly high. For a facility of this kind, I expected parking to be either included or more reasonably priced. The elevated parking fees felt excessive and added unexpected cost to the overall experience, which detracted from the value. The food was another disappointment. It was very simple, lacking in both flavor and creativity. Given the setting, we were hoping for something more thoughtfully prepared or representative of the local cuisine, but it ultimately felt generic and uninspired. On a positive note, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their customer service was genuine, and they were clearly dedicated to making guests feel comfortable. However, there was a noticeable emphasis on upselling additional services throughout the trip. While we understand the business aspect, the constant sales pitch became a bit much and took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. Overall, while the staff’s hospitality was appreciated, the elevated parking costs, underwhelming food, and persistent upselling made the experience feel less worthwhile than expected.
Maria D — Google review
We had an amazing time. The captain and crew were great. Took us to 2 spots and we saw sea turtles. Breakfsst and lunch included. Definitely will book through them again!
Tonya O — Google review
We had an absolutely incredible experience on this whale-watching tour! The captain and crew were not only super knowledgeable but also clearly passionate about what they do, which made the trip even more enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see five different whales up close—within a stone’s throw of the boat! The 3-hour tour was the perfect amount of time to maximize our chances of seeing these amazing creatures. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough—it was unforgettable!

Maui Tropical Plantation, located near Wailuku, is a 60-acre working farm that offers visitors an immersive experience in Maui's commercial crops. The plantation showcases a variety of fruits, herbs, and vegetables and provides tram tours through its field crops. Visitors can learn about the growth of sugarcane and pineapples while enjoying close-up views of flowers, plants, and fruit trees found in Hawaii.
This was our second visit- first was two years ago. This was a great tour for seniors who may have somewhat limited mobility (cane). Our tour guide was great- lots of great information, funny jokes, and interesting personal stories. I wish the tour were just a few minutes longer because I am sure there were more interesting things to hear! We enjoyed the farm/gift shop and purchased several items there. The grounds were beautiful with lots of varied tropical plants, flowers, and trees as well as ponds and architectural details. Just a great place to spend a hot afternoon in the shade and breeze!

The Maui Tropical Plantation tour was amazing! My kids and I gained a lot of interesting information, especially about coconuts, thanks to our very knowledgeable guide. The 45-minute tour offers comfortable seating, though the walking area is limited. While a bit pricey, the huge shop makes up for it with a ton of gift, veggie, and fruit choices at good prices, and the staff are super friendly. Plus, the Maui Zipline Company is conveniently located right there!
Olga T — Google review
Lunch at the restaurant was FANTASTIC! Great farmers market type store. Our tour guide was great. We did this instead of the pineapple tour, manly because we heard the restaurant was great, and it was, but also because it was 1/4 the price of the other. The other tour would probably be “better” but this one was well worth the $25 (instead of $95)!

Beautiful spot to visit while in Maui! Walked around the plantation and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and lush scenery. Had breakfast at the café — everything was fresh and tasty. Also loved browsing the gift shop, which had a great selection of local products and souvenirs. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Very cool quick little tour. Ocean was our tour guide and she was a great mix of informative and funny. There were a few places to shop and a restaurant as well, but we didn't have time to look through them.
Candra K — Google review
Fun place to learn about the sugar plantations. Interning to see all of the plants and animals they have around. They also have a good restaurant and general store. The tram tour is pretty short but they did go through some interesting info not sure it worth the 25 a person though

Top reason to choose this excursion over the rest is good Hospitality❣️ Nate, Seth and Pono are incredible Zipline guides, because they each embody their own respectful characteristics. As a Team, they lead their tour with ease as they prepare you for each jump. I got a crash course on learning how to become a monkey and their skill combined with hysterical spirit lifted my nerves on every jump. I didn’t think I was walking into a comedic experience, but I left the tropical plantation smiling. The hospitality that I received from them wasn’t directly to me, but what caught my heart was seeing how they treat Mothers and children. Boys are not easy to raise; I don’t have one..I have a little girl and she’s cake 🎂 sweet and easy to make. Yet, each instructor taught a son about respecting their mom; which is what money can’t buy… character development for children is not sold in stores. It’s thru elders and experiences and I could see in this teenagers 👀 he wanted to be just as cool as them. Each guide stood their ground on their rules and morals and it was outstanding. The plantation is sacred, so take your time enjoying the bright gardens and humongous trees while feeding the ducks 🦆 and when your feeling hungry 🤤 they have the answer for that too at their restaurants.

The waiter and food was excellent. The place closes at 2:20 pm for lunch. Don't make reservations at 2:30pm. Open Tabe has to offer the time. However the morning staff in the kitchen along with the 2 hosteres make us feel unwelcome. The waiter was excellent. He had several interesting stories. The food was also excellent. This was my first time there fot lunch. I had been there for dinner. There's a tram tour thought the plantion.Reservations are recommended. There a ticket booth they I believe sell tickets. We got out tickets beforehand.

ʻĪao Valley State Monument

State park
Park
Nestled in the heart of Central Maui, ʻĪao Valley State Monument is a stunning 4,000-acre paradise that beckons nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast in Lahaina, visitors can embark on an easy half-mile hike through this lush valley, where they’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of the iconic Iao Needle.
'Īao Valley is clearly so much more than just a park; it's a place that feels genuinely special. What's so moving is how it connects the story of its incredible geological formation with the deep cultural heritage of the people who cherish it. It’s not a huge area to cover, but the beauty packed into it is profound. It’s definitely an iconic place that commands respect. Just be prepared: you really do need to be mobile, as there are a lot of stairs to climb to experience it fully.
Sean N — Google review
This state park is breathtakingly beautiful and packed with history. The parking situation is good and leaves you steps from the main trails that allow you to see both The Needle and water flowing down the valley. Staring up at the mountains above you and down the valley is a spectacular view full of photo opportunities. The Needle towers as a standout spot along the trail and the Botanical Trail takes you through a pretty area with native plants that allow you to feel like you’re in a surreal setting. Be warned: the trails are very short so don’t expect a real hike or to be there for too long, but do expect a luscious and photogenic activity.
Amber L — Google review
State park with some short, easy walking paths. Made a reservation online in advance; note that they don’t accept the National Park pass since it’s a state park. Reservations are required and you pay for parking at that point as well. It’s a beautiful park and the hike up to see the Needle is short, albeit a tad steep. Be careful on the stairs coming down, as my boyfriend twisted his ankle while coming down. We went at 9am to try to beat the cloud cover and other tour buses coming in. I’d recommend accounting for 2 hours here, though you can certainly spend more time if you’re looking to meditate or explore deeply.
Shanelle S — Google review
Easy to get to. Not very amazing compared to all the stuff to see in this island. But it’s ok. Pro tip: Buy entry and parking online beforehand. But what the web doesn’t tel you is you can park for free; you just have to walk about 5 minutes more. Up a little hill though. So depends how energetic you feel. It’s a very, very short little walk through this park up a path to get to the view of the needle. Paved. Some short stairs. No problem. And then that’s the main attraction. Plus you get a view of the park below. There are a few more small paths but it’s really quite small. I think they call it a botanical garden, unless there’s another one that I missed. This was a 30 minute visit for us.
G L — Google review
Myself and my Partner visited the Iao Valley States park in May 2024 whilst we stayed in Maui. We cannot recommend this place enough photos just do not do it justice, you need to see it the flesh. The needle like peek looks amazing in the flesh and it's just a short walk from the parking lot. There is lots of little trails along the river with lots of little water falls and plenty plants and wildlife to marvel at. There is plenty of parking, restrooms and tables to eat snaks, i don't think there is a souvenir shop. Even the journey in was beautiful, the view back out the valley. Visited here as part of a tour so we didn't get long to explore, would have loved to have spent longer so we could do more of the trails. So if you visit Maui you must put Iao Valley on your bucket list of places to see, if I return to maui I would come here agia. Steve and Jacqui fae Fife

The ʻĪao Valley State Monument is a beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by lush rainforest and steep green cliffs. 🌿 The short trail to the ʻĪao Needle offers great views and easy access for all ages. We had expected to do a longer hike, but that’s not possible here — the trail is quite short. Still, it’s worth visiting for the stunning scenery and rich Hawaiian history.
Daniela H — Google review
Very beautiful and worth visiting, given quite easy to access and provides a great change of scenery to the other parts of Maui. Can do a few short walks up the river, with opportunities to swim in the water. Make sure to book reservation spot online beforehand (did a few hours before on an August day)
Jamie C — Google review
You must make reservations in advance. They won’t let you in. Park very clean, little hike with stairs but you can park the stroller before the stairs. 2 year old can do all the steps. Humit and frw mosquitos but not cold. Very tropical view. There is also a river you can touch the water. August 2025 restrooms were close but they have de portable ones. Not too crowed. They let us go in even though it wasn’t our time frame reservation

Kepaniwai Park, also known as Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens, is a 7-acre waterside park located near flowing rivers and mountains. The park features various architecture, statues, and gardens that honor the diverse cultures that immigrated to Hawaii. Visitors can explore themed gardens celebrating the heritage of Chinese, Japanese, New England, Portuguese, Korean, Puerto Rican and Filipino people.
Unbelievably beautiful! Gorgeous mountain stream to go for a swim in and cool off, crystal clear water. Very clean and well maintained. Also very interesting information about different cultures that came to Maui and what they introduced to the native people.

I did not give this place a 5 because it is a bit more run down than other times I have visited. One of my favorite places to go to when on island. Even though there is a Fairly big parking lot and be hard to find a space. There was trash in the pond and around the grounds. Made me sad. Gardens were a bit dry but all of Maui was way more dry than I think I have ever seen.
Angela M — Google review
Back in the day, this was the place I'd ask my mom to take me on Saturdays so I could "feed the fish" in one of the ponds. Not much has changed since then. THE PARK: It's located deep inside Iao Valley on the way to Iao Valley State Park. Entry is free and parking is plentiful. On the stream side of the parking lot are covered picnic tables with grills which are popular with locals especially on the weekends, but can sometimes be a bit shady during the late afternoons. On the other side of the parking lot are several gardens that are themed by the major immigrant ethnic groups in Hawaii which are Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and Portuguese. Each has its own culturally-inspired garden setting and a scaled-down version of a building structure. There are very picturesque foot bridges, art work, ponds, and streams. A bamboo forest is perched at the highest point of the gardens which you can walk through on a paved trail, and features a pipe pumping out fresh water that meanders to the gardens below. SWIMMING: Just below the main bridge at the front of the park is a great swimming spot in the stream. Do NOT go swimming if it's raining, unless you want to get caught in a flash flood. Use common sense! OVERALL: A nice place to breeze through on your way to Iao Valley State Park.
Maui T — Google review
This place has seen better days. Some areas are nice, others are in a state of neglect and disrepair. The paths and stairs are damaged in places. Some monuments are overgrown with algae to the point of not being able to read the words. The ponds are severely dirty, poor fish :(. There's trash, beer bottles, and even used syringes. A severe lack of respect to the memories of those that came before.
Dimich M — Google review
Went there on Sunday about 930a. Located 5 minutes away from iao valley. There is sufficient free parking. This park is dedicated to cultural heritage. Also, there is an area for parties, but not sure if permits are required. We didn't have much time to explore the whole park, but i would visit this place again
Mary A — Google review
This is beautiful park that should on your list of places to spend a peaceful day. Right on a beautiful creek, it celebrates the many different people and religions that came to the island to work. Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese. There is a beautiful banyon tree to gaze since the one in Lahaina is still shut off to the public while it heals. Bring a picnic and spend half a day exploring and learning. Aloha!
Carol D — Google review
If you're headed into Iao Valley State Park, this is a great stop either on the way in or out. This is a small park honoring the immigrant past of Maui. There's examples of Portugese, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean architecture with historical plaques telling the story of each immigrant group. We spent about 45 minutes looking around and enjoying the scenic valley the park is nestled in. We were there on a Saturday morning close to lunch time, and there were several groups cooking, and there was a group of local artists sketching and painting by the Chinese pagoda

Hiking Trails
Waihee Ridge Trail is a moderate five-mile hike in West Maui that takes you nearly 2,600 feet above sea level. The trail offers panoramic views of Waihee Valley, Makamakaole Falls, Haleakala, the West Maui Mountains, and the ocean. It features switchbacks through green forests and sunny ridgelines leading to Lani-ili summit.
This is a moderately challenging steady uphill hike to the peak with some steep and slippery areas and quite a bit of uneven ground. We went on a clear sunny day and the ground was mostly dry. With hiking poles we found the hike very manageable. We climbed to the top in about an hour and 15 minutes. Without poles I would have been nervous on the way down due to some steep areas. The views are so beautiful we stopped so many times to take in the beauty and take pictures. This might be my favourite trail. The trail doesn't have a lot of cover from the sun but you will catch a breeze in many spots along the way.
Janice L — Google review
The best hike on the island, but please be prepared! It's not an easy walk! Make sure you have comfortable shoes you don't mind getting dirty and enough water. This trail is about 2 miles one way with 1500 ft elevation gain. You feel it when you are walking! We witnessed so many people attempting to take this trail without proper shoes or water and turning back, that's why I am writing this - get ready! Parking lot fills up fast, so try to get there early. There was broken glass on the ground, so don't leave anything valuable in your car. Lower/overflow parking lot will add a hike uphill for you, but if you wait around at the main one, you will get a spot as people come and go. Another reason to be there early is to get best views from the peak. It is disappointing to make it to the very top to see... nothing. We spent about 4 hours there (with much needed breaks on the they up, as well as breaks for pictures). There are no restrooms anywhere near, so plan accordingly. The views are amazing and probably don't change much from half way up. There was a bit of tropical rain, which was very refreshing, but def not requiring a raincoat or umbrella. We visited in early August and Strawberry Guava was in season (wild). It was pretty to see and interesting flavor to try. Our teenage boys like first half of the trail. Making stops to rest was necessary to keep going. Highly recommend this trail!
Ana S — Google review
#1 and #3 ranked all trail on the island by 2 lists. There is 1500 ft of elevation gain from the parking lot with steep gains at the beginning and end. We found it to be a very strenuous hike but not difficult. Total time close to 3 hrs, but experienced hikers in better shape could do in 2. VERY Cloudy at the top so the view was nil. Highly recommend if you're up for a challenge.
Andrew H — Google review
This trail is absolutely beautiful. Stunning views along the way. NOT FOR THOSE WITH PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS. The initial uphill concrete walkway is a total workout. Leave your flip flops in the car. Wear hiking or tennis shoes. You get your shoes muddy. By far 1 of the best hiking trails we did in Maui. It's worth it when you get to the top. Take water and snacks. This is a moderate to hard trail.
E F — Google review
HIKING BOOTS! But it is simply the most beautiful hike you will ever go on if you've never been to a tropical area! Breathtaking views, especially if you can beat the clouds and get there early before the parking lot fills. There is a backup parking lot a mile below down the paved road. Even if it hasn't rained the rocks and ground are very slick this is why you need a hiking boots not tennis shoes. If you do that you will have the best hike you've ever been on!

The views from this hike are stunning! 🏞️ The view over the mountains and the ocean is unparalleled. The path is quite reasonable, although a bit rocky and uneven in places. It is a steep climb though - over 1500ft in incline, so it takes about 3 hours for the round trip. If you don't arrive early (the trail opens at 7am) it is likely that you will have to park in the overflow car park, which adds 25 mins uphill to your hike.
Rani — Google review
A beautiful trail but hard due to the uneven trail. Not much shade in the latter parts. Coming down was harder on my knees because the rocks were slippery. The first and last 1/2 mile are the steepest. Took us about 3 hrs because we stopped a lot. The views of the surrounding peaks and Maui North Shore are unparalleled. Parking is difficult. No bathrooms and no water. Bring plenty.
An P — Google review
Absolutely unbeatable views. Trail was a bit dusty and I can see it being pretty muddy when it rains. Trail was very easy to follow. I found the trail to be relatively challenging with the elevation gain. Parking can be an issue. There were a few spots left when I arrived at 8:15am on a Monday. By the time I finished the lot was full and people were parking at the overflow lot a good distance (1 mi) down the road. Come early!

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of a lush plantation, Cafe O'Lei at the Plantation is a culinary gem that has been delighting diners since its inception by Michael and Dana Pastula in 1997. With an impressive portfolio of restaurants, this spot offers an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're enjoying Happy Hour with stunning views while savoring chicken lettuce wraps or indulging in Ahi Nachos, every bite showcases local ingredients at their finest.
This was recommended to me by someone I met on the beach. Made reservations and it did not disappoint. Sitting in the restaurant with the large doors open we had a spectacular view of the mountain. The atmosphere was so charming. The stroll around the gardens was a great pre-dinner start as well. It is gorgeous. The food was amazing and everything was prepared perfectly. I highly recommend this for a very nice dinner and evening.

Our best food, atmosphere and service experience on the island by far. We ended up going to this spot 3 times because we fell in love with it. The food is amazing and the views from the terrace are lovely. Definitely recommend this place for any occasion and time of day. We did enjoy lunch more since you can see the mountains.

Resy restaurant in a great quiet part of the island. The food was amazing. Service was great. We had the onion soup (awesome), the pork belly (even better), and the burger (pretty good). Would highly recommend coming here if you are visiting. One of two locations on the island

An amazingly beautiful setting for a fantastic restaurant. Set in an old plantation, the restaurant serves delicious dishes featuring local ingredients and served with an abundance of Aloha. The staff is absolutely the best, friendly and attentive. The dining rooms and bar are large open spaces with plenty of room. The tables and booths are comfortable and most afford a great view of the surroundings. While evenings can get busy, brunch and lunch service are very accommodating on most days. There is plenty of parking just a short walk from the restaurant. Accessibility is available to most as everything is on ground level.

A hidden gem inside the Tropical Plantation! I didn't know what to expect... and Cafe Olei exceeded all my preconceived notions of a regular brunch. With lots of variety, and some pretty neat appetizers to choose from, this was a perfect, relaxing, comforting outing for us. With spectacular views. We then went for the tram ride tour around the Plantation. All in all, very pleased. Do try the half papaya shrimp cecviche appetizer! 🍤

We attended a buffet dinner reception here. The Caesar salad had a nice kick and the nut crusted fish was outstanding. The rest of the food was quite delicious. The decor is rustic.

Great spot! Hidden in the back of a weird old mill turned outdoor strip mall, this unexpected place had delicious food, great drinks and a neat atmosphere! The charbroiled pork liempo was insanely good and the mini-malasadas were delicious! Would definitely return!

The food was excellent, but the service was absolutely terrible. The moment we sat down, someone came to ask what we wanted to order — I hadn’t even opened the menu yet. Within the next three minutes, three different people came to our table asking the same question. Okay, I get it — the kitchen closes at 3 PM and they only serve happy hour food afterward, but that’s still no excuse for such an unprofessional approach. I had literally just sat down and hadn’t even opened the menu, yet we were told we had to order immediately — food first, drinks later — because the kitchen was “closing soon.” Maybe that’s why they added a kitchen appreciation fee to the bill? I have no idea, since no one bothered to mention it. The food came out really fast — the fries were a bit cold, but the burger was delicious. The cocktail, however, arrived after the food. And just after my third bite of the burger, the check was placed on our table. The waitress didn’t even ask how the food was or if we needed anything — just dropped the bill. My boyfriend and I looked at each other like, is this for real? I hadn’t even finished my drink yet! Okay, maybe she was in a hurry to go home because her shift was ending, but in that case, don’t take a new table if you can’t serve it properly. Several people came by to ask if we were ready to order, but no one refilled my water — my glass stayed empty the whole time. Honestly, I was really disappointed with the service. Such a shame, because the food deserved better.

Havens Harborside Fish & ChopHouse is a spacious and inviting restaurant located by the harbor, offering both cozy corners for intimate dinners and ample space for larger gatherings. The menu features a variety of options to please everyone at the table, including charbroiled steaks and clams steamed with sake and Portuguese sausage. Renovated from the inside out, this stylish harbor-front establishment has garnered praise for its great food, management, and service.
Went for Happy hour and really enjoyed everything we ordered. The manager and wait staff were nice and attentive. Loved both cocktails on the happy hour menu especially the margarita. Perfect for those that like a little spice in their life. Will definitely come back to try their dinner menu bc it looks delicious!

This was my second visit to Haven’s, and once again, I had a great experience. On my first visit, I had the Smashburger — easily one of the best I’ve had. On our return, we went for the Tomahawk steak and scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is a standout, with a beautiful view of the harbor at sunset that really elevates the experience. Service was excellent — the staff is friendly and attentive, checking in often. The only small suggestion there is to give guests a bit more space between check-ins, as too many can interrupt the flow of conversation between guests. The drink selection was solid. Cocktails and wines were well chosen, and I really liked the beer selection — a nice change from the usual big-brand lineup. I’d still love to see more non-alcoholic options added down the line. If I had one other note, it’s that prices feel a bit high for a newer restaurant, especially compared to some well-established spots on Maui. That said, the quality is clear, and Haven’s has real potential. Wishing the team all the best — I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow.

We didn't have any reservations to this beautiful restaurant, but we're able to be assisted as walk in guests. The ambience is outstanding. The view can't beat overlooking the harbor, South Kihei and of course beautiful Haleakala. The food is beyond Ono (delicious.) The flavors, food presentation as we locals like to say, "Broke the Mouth!" The friendly services from the hostess, our waiter Scott, the manager 100% extraordinary. I truly recommend this establishment a must try. ❤️🤙

Great spot in Maalaea Bay! Nice big patio overlooking the marina with stylish decor without being pretentious. We stopped in for happy hour (3-4:30pm daily) and enjoyed beers and mai tais (dare I say better than the Monkeypod mai tai) and fish tacos which were up there in the top fish tacos of all time (huge chunk of fish, made with pacific blue marlin). Our server Tim was very attentive and could sell sand to the beach, which was why we stayed for a second drink. Vibe was nice and relaxed, Maalaea can be such a ghost town but the restaurant was maybe like 1/3 full on a Saturday around 4pm.

We chose to have an early Mother’s Day dinner here before returning home to Molokaʻi and we are more than happy we did. Austin was our server and Lance was the Manager that evening and all the staff were so kind, professional, and answered all our questions lol. Us locals get plenty questions. The food was mean! We had the short ribs that you could cut with a fork! Lobster mac and cheese, scallops, super soft steak, and the oyster shooters was the best I ever had, hands down!! I not even kidding. I recommend Haven’s and cannot wait til I go back to Maui to eat there again. Go, you won’t regret it!!

Haven’s Harborside was a great choice, as Google suggested! It’s located in front of the marina, which gives it a very different vibe from the other restaurants we visited in Maui. Our server, Mick, was simply spectacular, recommending wine, dishes, and desserts. Honestly, we didn’t have to see the menu and could’ve gone with his suggestions. Every dish was delicious and beautifully plated. Notable mentions are the crispy Kanpachi Roll (Mick’s reco), the bone-in New York Steak, the Diver Scallops, and the Malasadas. If you haven’t tried them, don’t miss the chance. They’re some kind of a donut with guava jelly injected as they come from the drier. Simply delicious. We had an absolute blast.

Excellent customer service, beautiful harbor views, friendly staff and delicious food. We also enjoyed meeting Lance, He came over to our table and chatted with my husband and I, during our visit. He recommended this fish dish, it was AMAZING, We still cant get over how good it was. Evan and Scott were great as well. Thank you all!

One of our BEST meals of the entire trip! If you have the opportunity to dine here, do yourself a favor and make it happen! Riley was our server, and he was great! We shared the Caesar salad, wagyu croquettes and rice cake to start which was all 10 out of 10! For the main dishes my husband got the Bucket, I got the smash burger and we split the truffle rissoto. Probably best rissoto I've ever tasted! I do want to mention during our time in Maui we also stayed on the Wailea side at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria and dined at some of the top restaurants over there and at the Four Seasons. Havens beats any of those fancy hotel restaurants by a long shot! Quality food, quality people, quality place!

Nestled next to the Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea, Seascape Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in island-inspired seafood dishes while soaking up stunning water views. This charming eatery offers a delightful menu featuring fresh options like the Seascape Cobb Salad with Cajun Mahi Mahi and Crab Cake, as well as hearty sandwiches that are perfect after exploring the aquarium.
We did the $35 3 course meal offered when buying our aquarium tickets and it was really great food. I didn't know what to expect but the dish we had was top notch, one of the best meals we have had here. I think the value for what we paid was really good! A lot of people complaining about the pricing, but you're on a beach front restaurant in Maui, not sure what people expect. Also had a cocktail which was delicious and really reasonable. Highly recommend the 3 course meal option!

Had the fresh catch of the day fish sandwich, it was absolutely incredible! Also, the purple rain adult beverage was delicious and came in a really cute tiki cup! Sitting outside right by the water it was Soo good! Definitely will go there again when I'm back on Maui!

Was recommended after our helicopter tours. Stop at the Maui Ocean Center. It is attached to the aquarium. Ordered rhe Canada's (Cathch of the day) which was Onaga (snapper) with shrimp and taro potatoes. It was amazing. We also ordered the tempura lobster tail. Different but still excellent. All the food was cooked to perfection! I'm not a shrimp fan but these were cooked perfectly! Our server Caysha was extremely nice and helpful. Food came out quick. It is outdoor seating so you have to deal with flies and birds and an occasional chicken but it did not take away from the experience. Decently priced for the quality of the food. We really enjoyed everything about this place! Highly recommended for service, taste, and view!

The view was incredible and the menu offers a wide variety of plates. I ordered the poke bowl on the waitress’s recommendation. The bowl arrived and was a beautiful thing to behold. I picked up a fork and poked it into a square piece of tender fish covered in a spicy sauce. Then I made the mistake and put the bite in my mouth...now and forever more I will be seeking to repeat that experience. The bite was so beautiful, so subtle, so sublime, if it was my last meal; that would have been better….the taste was such perfection that I literally cried. I have never yet in all my sixty years experienced such an emotional reaction to a bite of food, but before that bite I had never known food could be such an orgasmic experience. The curried peas and the six minute egg….the beautiful and perfectly dressed salad…the sticky rice…all of it….a food-gasm I had never imagined possible. The bowl was $30…who could pontificate that such an experience would cost so little. It stopped all conversation and each person at the table focused on the bowl or plate of pleasure before them. They had different things. None of us shared bites of dinner as we devoured in a blessed ritual the wonder before us. Run, don’t walk. You don’t want to live another day without experiencing this food. Bowing down to the chef and the magic hands that put this together for us.

Larry M — Google review
The food was good, and the view was great. The staff was friendly. What surprised me the most, and why I can't give it five stars, is the lack of services for kids. They have a high chair, but that's about all. There are no special water cups with lids and straws for children, and nothing to keep them occupied while we wait for food. I would expect more from a restaurant in an aquarium where the target audience is families with kids.
Andrii S — Google review
What a disappointment. Someone at our hotel highly recommended it. My husband liked his fish and chips. I ordered the fish taco special, which the waitress said was mahi mahi. Took one bite and the fish was raw inside. Finally flagged down the waitress, who apologized and brought it to the kitchen. Then she returned and said the kitchen ran out of mahi so they gave me ahi instead. Hmm, not feeling very trusting now so I ordered the veg burger instead. It’s listed on the menu as being “served with coconut luau taro sauce. This secret, signature sauce combines the sweetness of coconut & the flavor of rich taro.” I get the burger after my husband has finished and it’s just the burger with lettuce, tomato and avocado. Dry bun. No sauce. I asked the waitress and she said it doesn’t come with sauce. Whatever. I ate and we left. Should have gone to the pizza place in the little shopping strip next door.

Mike's Hong Kong Bistro is a delightful casual eatery that brings the vibrant flavors of Hong Kong to your plate. I’ve always had a good experience eating the food here, typically I walk in and order to take home. I’ve always ordered BBQ/teriyaki chicken, hamburger steak and the duck. The guy at the front was beyond rude, and it was twenty dollars for a bbq plate lunch where the Mac salad was like mush and miracle whip, and the meat was maybe a step above dollar store quality. Mouth agape is how I looked as I left Mike's empty handed. I couldn't believe how I was treated!? My Saturday's work lunch is always out on the town as I have 1.5 hours to spare. On this particular day I thought of returning to Mike's for some noodles, specifically the gomoku ramen. As I entered the empty eatery, no one was behind the counter but my presence did trigger a door chime. I looked around for a soul for about two minutes. Finally, the owner Mike came from the other end of the restaurant. No smile, no eye contact, only a look of inconvenience with a "Can I help you"? As he made his way behind the food counter, I asked what kind of broth is in the gomoku ramen. He walks back the other way looking for something. With his back now to me, he annoyingly says "What"?! I ask again what kind of broth is in the gomoku ramen. He pointed to the picture menu of the shoyu ramen and mumbled something along the lines of "You should know" or "You ate this before". Not knowing what he said, I asked if the broth is clear. Irritatingly, he mumbles something but I did make out "pork bones" in the sentence. Before I could make a decision, he mumbles something again with an "I cannot help you anymore" at the end of the rant and simply walked back into the kitchen without a care in the world, leaving me alone at the counter. Stunned, I left and got lunch from another business down the street. OVERALL: Good luck to you, sir. Your message was well received.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Queen Ka'ahumanu Center, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to A Saigon Cafe. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Shopping mall
Restaurant
Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is a spacious indoor-outdoor shopping mall with a tropical atmosphere, housing over 100 stores and dining options. It features well-known mainland retailers like Macy's and Sears alongside smaller shops and shoe stores. Visitors can also explore the Maui Friends of the Library Bookstore, offering books on Hawaiian culture as well as popular bestsellers at affordable prices.
Open air mall with many shops to choose from. Macys is the main department store, but it has many local based shops as well. A lot of the national shops you’d expect like Zumiez and Hot Topic. There’s a family fun center on the second floor with lots of fun games for children and adults alike. Nice place to visit is the cat cafe where you can play with adorable cats.

Nice and airy mall with typical stores such as Macys, American Eagle, Body and Bath. Lot of empty spaces. Some fast food chains such as Panda Express and LOL Hawaiian. And a couple of restaurants

It is an ok mall to spend some time. It's is a little run-down with some stores closed and a little dirty. But the atmosphere is nice with native music. The bathroom was filled with cockroaches. I'm not sure if that is a normal state or if they held an annual meeting at that time. Wasn't a big deal for me, almost like visiting the zoo. There were many good stores with good variety. The food court is good.
Ilya — Google review
The open-air QKC is Maui's largest mall with a capacity for about 100 tenants, but I'd guesstimate the list is maybe 50 and hanging on by a thread? It opened in the 1970's and was heavily renovated in the 1990's with the addition of a partial second level, 8-stall food court, 2 parking garages, and a new wing that brought in the area's first multiplex movie theater, and Maui's only JC Penney (though they're long gone now, and the reason why there's two separate Macy's stores.) The 2000's brought only cosmetic upgrades. TODAY: There has been no renovation to the storefronts which look dated and tired, but the mall's canopy roof supports got a fresh coat of paint that actually went the opposite direction of pleasing. They pulled out all of the palm trees and planters and filled them in with ugly gray concrete that doesn't match the mall's interlocking, multi-colored cement block floor. Public areas have new furniture and convenient device charging stations but it also invited homeless campers to loiter and cause trouble. Thankfully the Maui Bus vacated the mall as a main hub, which helped dissipate the questionable clientele. The mall is sad and lacks variety. Old stores seem to move into vacated spaces in order to avoid renovating the store front, which gives the mall a dilapidated look. SECURITY ISSUES: If you need to use the restroom, do not utilize the ones upstairs by the food court or men's Macy's as they've both been associated with a multitude of assaults. Use the restrooms in the businesses if possible. A few years ago, a person was held at gun point and robbed in the parking garage. And, someone's Honda Accord in the parking garage was jacked up and one tire stolen in broad daylight. There is a lack of security cameras in the entire facility, so be wary of your surroundings. BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS: American Eagle Bath & Body Works Farmer's Market Foodland Macy's Panda Express Victoria's Secret/Pink FOOD COURT: The Queen's Market is an 8-stall food court located at the front of of the mall on the second level, but they're currenlty only half occupied. There are a few outdoor tables and a handful of indoor seats. Views are of the main entry and Kaahumanu Avenue. Its pretty clean overall with no bird problems. Restrooms are nearby. OVERALL: Some may say that Maui doesn't have the population to support restaurants and shops, but I think it's the mall that deprives us by not bringing in the fun and trendy businesses. Think, QKC marketing!? What can't you get on Maui that you have to fly to Oahu and beyond for? Chinese & Japanese cuisine, American chain restaurants, trendy eateries, a wider selection of clothing and accessories, and entertainment like IMAX movie screens and bowling. I won't even compare this place to Ala Moana as they're like night and day, but Ka Makana Alii, west Oahu's newest mall, has the most diverse list of tenants for a medium-scale neighborhood mall. That's what you call genius marketing. Shape up or ship out, QKC! There is talk about converting the mall to a mixed use residential/business complex.

Lively place, good selection of stores and a nice Macy’s department store. Food court has a good selection of food. The movie theater and arcade is a nice throwback to when malls were malls. Today was their 50th anniversary celebration, it was nice seeing the place festive with people. Sadly the Sears closed down, and long ago there use to be a Japanese grocery store here. Hopefully they will fill some of the empty spaces, because this is a great mall.

Flea & Street Markets
If you're on the hunt for unique treasures and local flavors, the Maui Swap Meet is a must-visit destination during your time in Maui. This vibrant weekly flea market has been delighting visitors since 1981, taking place every Saturday morning at the University of Hawaii Maui College parking lot.
Lots of great items to browse and purchase. Hats, T-shirts, food, produce, clothing, coconuts, woodworking and much more. Cost is 75 cents to enter per person as of 5/10/2025.

The Maui Swap Meet is a diverse, local focused collective offering many Hawaii centric gifts and goods that are great to look through. The variety is good with food, trinkets, and gifts for those back at home within arms reach. Some things are a bit overpriced but we understand that is due to small business needs, still unfortunate to see something you bought for $20 available at ABC for $10 a few days later. We got a few gifts for our dog and others and some stuff for us and we were happy with the quality of them which is all you can really ask for in a market. The food options were also much better than expected. We would certainly recommend this as a go to for anyone looking to support local Maui businesses and for those looking to pick up gifts for those back at home.

We had such a great time exploring the Maui Swap Meet! It’s the perfect mix of everything — from beautiful handmade crafts and local art to fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and island-made snacks. There’s also a fun assortment of imported items at great prices, so you can easily find souvenirs for everyone. Parking is super convenient in the college lot, and the $1 entrance fee is well worth it for the experience. The atmosphere feels relaxed and local, with friendly vendors and a true community vibe. If you love browsing creative finds and tasting local flavors, this is definitely a stop to add to your Maui itinerary!

I love this swap meet! I entered thinking it would either be a farmers market with produce, or a janky flea market like the one at Alina Stadium on Oahu. Guess what… nether! It’s a cool little swap meet with mostly artisan goods. And the prices are reasonable! Note too much duplication both to both either. You can also find good deals in souvenirs. Not a ton but enough. Starting with pro tips: Had great Shave Ice at a very good price at Maui Girls Shave Ice. Imma tell you rightz now this is the best shave ice deal you will find on this entire island and it’s helluv good too. So many flavor selection and even snow cap included. Oh and it’s a large parking lot so no need to stewed about finding parking. I’m going here every time I hit up Maui from note on!

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center, also known as the MACC, is a vibrant hub for arts and culture on the island. It features indoor and outdoor stages, an art gallery, and dance studios. The center hosts a diverse range of events including the Maui Film Festival, Made on Maui Festival, concerts, dance performances, theater shows, ballet performances and comedy acts.
Beautiful open-air grassy lawn with lots of room for seated and GA concert goers. Chicago gave a great performance, as always. There's additional parking directly across the street at the Community College, with police assistance at the crosswalk.

We’ve seen a number of shows at “The MACC” and all were wonderful. From stand up comedy to traditional Hawaiian singers and orchestral bands. The seats are a little old but it’s easy to get in and out and all the folks who work there are so nice.

A very nice place to watch live shows. Outstanding staff and volunteers. Acoustics are good. View of the stage is great.

Typical swap meet, flea market.. 75 cents admission fee, non-issue. Parking is very accessible, and plenty room to walk around. Miscellaneous prices everywhere, each vendor sets their own. Lots of fresh fruits, and imported Chinese items. Not too many authentic items, but decent enough for some souvenirs for your loved ones.

Fabulous concert with the Maui Pops and stars from Broadway playing music from Disney! The acoustics were excellent and the staff were very helpful and kind. Mahalo

Updated review 2/16/219: VIP tickets for the UB40 concert with Josh Tatofi and Katchafire as opening guest musicians. Josh Tatofi and his crew were incredibly talented with several tunes of various genres! Such a beautiful voice and great musicians. I would definitely pay to see them perform again. Katchafire came from New Zealand and were very disappointing. Every song sounded like the one before and it all seemed like a loud blur. The biggest disappointment was UB40. We all waited 45 minutes for the band to set up, only to hear a loud blur of noise and echo. Not a single song was recognizable. We left early, as did our friends. We stayed through rain and instrument changes, paid $100 extra for each of us for VIP tickets, only for a dud of a concert. Not worth it and never again. The venue is nice, lots of security, helpful staff and good food, although overpriced beverages. Parking cost is atrocious. $25 in the MACC parking lot and $10 in every overflow parking lot. Money making opportunities for the MACC at every turn. A bit much. 2017: We started out the year with Kris Kristofferson and a surprise guest performance by Willie Nelson and just enjoyed The California Honey Drops and Bonnie Raitt!! Beautiful Venue, well organized and perfect weather!

This venue is tried and true. Large enough for a crowd of 5000, this afternoon-to-evening fundraiser, for Maui fire victims delivered, for 3000- supporters, neighbors, and family members. Hosted by Henry Kapono with incredible talents like Amy Hanaiali'i, Tavana, Brother Noland, Kalapana, and Robert Cazimero, it was truly, an incredible event and a worthy cause. Offering terrific food trucks, great security staff, and commerative merchandise, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center provided an unforgettable experience for our united community.

Wonderful cultural gem of a venue and special event space for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. We recently saw Bonnie Raitt perform there. Magical night with her. Pay for the on-site parking, worth it. Tip: stay to right when entering for the vip parking on site. Golden Circle , or above, sooo worth it.

Nature & Parks
Gardens
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, situated in the heart of Kahului, Maui's bustling town, is dedicated to showcasing native and Polynesian-introduced plants of Hawaii. The garden's mission goes beyond plant conservation by also emphasizing the preservation of Hawaiian culture. It serves as an educational center for environmental awareness and a platform for the flourishing of Hawaiian cultural expression.
If you like plants, appreciate xeriscaping, are intrigued by ethnobotany, enjoy history and strolling through pretty places, this is a WONDERFUL way to pass an hour! You can deep dive and spend longer but 30-60 mins will give you good appreciation. Plants featured have ethnobotanical significance rather than typical showy gardens. You can see plants from several islands, including endangered plants not possible elsewhere. Learn which plants provided dyes, material for clothing and sails, were used in hula, religious offerings, torch oil etc. The audio tour was informative and the voices were pleasant. (If you've ever had audio tours with an annoying voice you know what I mean) There were classes on traditional plant use the day we visited. Students were preparing and weaving ahu'awa cordage, hala mats and ipu (gourd) preparation. The place is run and maintained by volunteers. They sell propagated plants, but are distributing plants for free to anyone affected by recent fires. This alone makes your $10 entry fee worth it. There is shade and many places to sit in case anyone in your party is slightly less interested in plants than you are. It's mostly flat in case you have any one with mobility issues. Free parking in front of the gardens, though the signage is confusing. My only suggestion for improvement, and this is because I see blank canvases everywhere: The gardens are on the site on an old zoo and garden, so there are little cement buildings that used to house animal displays. They are pretty stark and bleak. They should have one of the many talented island artists mural the heck out of them. I'm thinking pollinators, birds, animals previously held there. Each little building could have a theme. Overall I learned new things, got in some steps and had nice conversations with volunteers. #winning

This place is like a community leisure backyard. To be fair, it’s more like a park to sit and relax than a garden. It is not worthy of $10 per person….. Plain layout, random plants… no sculptures… you can basically step in at the entrance area, look around and work out… You didn’t miss anything… We paid $20 to walk around, didn’t feel intrigued…not an equal value exchange…

Great place to visit to get familiar with native and introduced plants! I learned so much from the brochure as well as the accompanying app, which had detailed ethnobotanical info. I went here upon arriving in Maui and am so glad I did. It really enriched my experiences on the island, being able to recognize and appreciate more deeply the plants I see.

Vietnamese restaurant
A Saigon Cafe is a beloved Vietnamese restaurant in Wailuku, Hawaii, known for its cozy and casual atmosphere. Since the early 1990s, it has been a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine made with fresh ingredients, including seafood dishes, traditional banh hoi, and flavorful Vietnamese soup. With its friendly service and extensive menu, A Saigon Cafe is a must-visit spot for those looking to experience the best of Vietnamese dining on Maui.
Delicious food, highly recommend. The Vietnamese bouillabaise was interesting and had bold flavor. The salmon was the best. Tiger beer was on the menu, but was unfortunately out of stock. Green papaya salad was great, not to spicy and not overly seasoned with fish sauce.
Matthew F — Google review
Real Vietnamese cuisine, the workers were all either really friendly or funny! Food was so yummy we came here twice during our visit here
Tuyet P — Google review
This spot pretty much got Maui on it's Vietnamese cuisine rampage. Plain and simply put, the food is super tasty. ATMOSPHERE: The place got a major renovation done in 2013, and much needed it was. Gone are the ripped & duck taped booth seats, as well as that open-air private dining room. Everything inside is brand new, along with outdoor seating, and a cool bar that serves both environments. Unfortunately, the menus have seen better days. FOOD: Green Beans - Super crunchy and sautéed in a brown sauce with mushrooms, onions, and carrots. Really good side dish to any meal. Bok Choy - Blanched then drizzled in a mild sweet/salty sauce. Vietnamese Steak - Chunks of savory broiled steak over a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and cucumber slices. Green Papaya Salad - The papaya is cut into paper thin strips and tossed in a slightly sweet and tangy sauce with a strong basil flavor. Comes topped with either tofu crumbles or shrimp. Very refreshing starter. Sautéed Shrimp - If you love shrimp, you have to try this. Deep fried and battered shrimp with an onion-based stir-fry on top. Get it with the shell on or off, I like the latter, and your choice of spice. The flavor is mild but the batter mixed with the toppings has an excellent marriage of flavor. Clay Pot with Chicken - This has been my favorite dish since the beginning. Jasmine rice, frozen peas, chicken, carrots, fresh white & shiitake mushrooms, steamed in a sweet & salty sauce in a searing hot clay pot. The rice at the bottom of the pot is super crispy, so mix the contents as soon as the dish comes to you. Beef with Garlic & Egg - Chunks of super tender steak and onions are sautéed in a tasty brown sauce, topped with sliced hard boiled eggs and an onion/garlic stir fry mixture. Delish! Steamed Fish - It's a whole steamed fish (head and all) with a mixture of veggies done in a soy-based sauce and poured on top. This is a big portion so it's great for family style dining. Crispy Egg Noodle - The traditional deep-fried egg noodles topped with mounds of veggies sautéed in a dark brown gravy, and meat of your choice (we got chicken.) Loads of flavor and big enough for four to share. Saigon Egg Noodle Soup - Highly recommended dish for the ramen fan. It's not strong in sodium like your usual ramen and has a nice, lighter, savory flavor with thin noodles, fresh chicken strips, and green onions. Pork Chops - Wow! I've found my new favorite entree. Chunks of super tender pork done in a dry rub that is so tasty and flavorful, you'll wish you could mimic this at home. Highly recommended! Vietnamese Beef Burrito - Dried and super thin shells made of rice, I believe, are brought to your table which you dip into a bowl of hot water to soften them. You then add the already cooked beef, bean sprouts, and lettuce. Similar to a spring roll. The dipping sauce is a tangy concoction. Chicken Vegetable - Chicken strips sautéed in a savory brown gravy with broccoli, onions, mushrooms, and green beans. Good but no wow factor. Noodle Soup Special - This is a Vietnamese ramen. The broth is clear, lightly salted with a minuscule hint of sweet, but not in a gross way. You have the option of rice or flour (the one I chose) noodles. Toppings are fresh shredded chicken, green onions, dehydrated onions, 2 fresh shrimp, and rubbery calamari strips which I picked out because I hate them in soups. Thankfully there was zero cilantro in this dish. Highly recommended for the ramen fan! SERVICE: The servers are all friendly and quick. There's one infamous gentlemen in particular who comes off as a pushy salesman but he really means well. If you don't want something he's trying to up-sell you, just say so; you won't be punished for it. OVERALL: Great Vietnamese food. Prices have gone up a lot within the past year, along with every other place on Maui.

This restaurant is one of my favorites to eat at. It IS a bit pricey, but the service is excellent and the food is plentiful and top-notch. I personally recommend the calamari appetizer. It's huge (and that's coming from a guy who can eat a whole Costco pizza by himself). I definitely recommend this place to everyone! Also, if you plan on trying their iced coffee, do be prepared not to sleep for a while. Thank you to the Saigon staff for an overall awesome experience!

Have been there multiple times for beers, ate their mushroom tofu bake dish. Great vegetarian options, nice and clean.
Jeremy P — Google review
Good variety of dishes and the taste is as you expect. Which is good. No significant complaints here. We come here a few times a year. Seems pretty authentic and you do get the “I’m in an Asian restaurant” feel when you enter. Seems like lots of locals, so service and food is good and consistent. Not sure if this is a first date place. Maybe third and “been dating for awhile” place so you are more comfortable to speak freely about the place. Either way, you have to try it.
Sam S — Google review
Inside the restaurant, the tables and chairs were a bit old and torn, but that didn't stop us from trying its dishes. We ordered a few dishes, in general every dish was sweet, we had to add fish sauce to get the typical traditional Vietnamese flavor. Braised ginger chicken is not Vietnamese-style braised ginger chicken, they use pre-boiled chicken breast, then sauté with a little ginger and onion for flavor, but it is also very sweet compared to the Vietnamese taste, rather for Americans. Sour fish soup tastes sweeter than sour, we have to squeeze more lemon to get more sour taste. The catfish in claypot was alright but not that great. In general, the dishes at this restaurant tend to be more American. If you want a salty Vietnamese taste, remember to ask for pure fish sauce.

The coolest place ever! These folks work so hard to make everyone happy and it shows in both the food and the atmosphere. We’re so grateful to have found this place. Great prices, beautiful setting with both indoor and outdoor seating, and we had the special treat of having live Hawaiian music during our breakfast!

Nice local place that is warm and inviting. Soft music playing. A wall of guitars and ukuleles for anyone to try. Comfy chairs, soft banter from the regulars and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Had a great Thai iced coffee and a BLT that tasted SO fresh. I swear they grow the tomatoes and lettuce out back, it's so fresh. Another favorite was the peach dish with a buttery crust and peaches. I'm back home now but send much aloha and mahalo for the kindness!

The Coffee Attic was one of my favorite cafes to go to in Wailuku. The vibes were amazing, especially with the live music. The drinks and food were yummy and I always got the chicken caesar wrap! I came in with my laptop because they had good working wifi, outlets, and comfy chairs!

If you are looking for somewhere in Wailuku to have coffee and a light snack without worrying about noise intruding into your thoughts, Maui Coffee Attic should be on the top of your list. I often hold business discussions there at an outside table with the beautiful breeze keeping us comfortable. If it does get too warm outside, there is an air conditioned seating area inside to give you comfort. The staff is very friendly — remember to bring your punch card — and get ready for some of the best coffee and coffee-adjacent drinks on Maui!

Like Poke is a must-visit spot in Maui, Hawaii for poke enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Located at 1960 Main St, Wailuku, HI, this food truck offers some of the freshest fish available on the island. The regular poke is praised for its freshness and flavor while the fried poke is beautifully cooked. The combo plate featuring both options is perfect for sharing. Each bite is elevated to a new level with the addition of zesty wasabi oil.
Like Poke? was fantastic! We tried two different poke styles—the sweet shoyu, which was absolutely incredible, and the Hawaiian style, which was a bit too salty for my taste. The fish was incredibly fresh, and street parking was a breeze. It made for the perfect lunch spot right after our visit to Iao Valley State Monument, just a quick 10-minute drive away! Definitely recommend this stop on your next Maui visit.

The poke nachos were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced! What made the experience even better was the super friendly lady who took care of us. She was warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Great food and even better service—definitely coming back!
Yuliia L — Google review
Portions are HUGE and can be shared by two, but the poke tasted great. It is a food truck in a nice food truck park with a lot of tables. No service. If you are coming from the mainland do not expect a million toppings with the poke and served in a bowl form. It is what you see in the picture and the rice is a bit dry.

The best poke on the whole island, no doubt ❤️ You can choose your seasoning and the portion is really big. The truck changed its location but (luckily) we managed 🙂 Highly recommended!

That poke was something else. The freshness of the fish and the flavours were incredible. I’ll be dreaming of this poke until I return. The person who served me was so lovely. Mahalo!

Ordered Poke nachos (wonton crackers yum!), Hawaiian style poke bowl, hurricane fried poke, and crispy taco side (left to right in pictures). ‘Mini’ portion entrees subbed with salad and minimal rice since we wouldn’t be able to finish the regular large portions. Everything was delicious and kids also enjoyed it! Wish I could have ordered more to try. Only regret was not finding this place sooner—came on our last day of our trip. Parking available and porta-potty in the back—plan accordingly if you have small kids. Definitely would come back in the future.

This is a local favorite. You’ll rarely see tourists eating here. The food is absolutely amazing. Saimin is something I order every single time. The ox tail soup is also good. Garlic shrimp is another fav of mine. They also serve breakfast dishes but I haven’t ordered any of them.

Mom and pops local shop. Very good food and big portions. Was recommended by a local to come get the Banana Mac Nut Pancakes. It was out of this world good and worth every bite. The Sumo Moco was very tasty. Make sure to get it with fried rice. Prices are very good, not like the ripoff hotel foods. Definitely would come back again.

At Bamboo Grill, I ordered the oxtail soup, which comes with a scoop of rice and the choice of macaroni or salad. The oxtail was flavorful and tender truly a hidden gem in Maui! While the location can be a bit challenging to find, it's well known among locals. The service was average, they were out of most drinks on the menu. The atmosphere is casual, resembling your neighbor's kitchen table nothing fancy, it’s like an old school dining experience.

Charming , low-key, spot to go grab some yummy food. It was a little tricky to find, but I'm so glad we did! My favorite was the banana macadamia nut pancake. The sauce was delicious! We also had the corn beef hash with eggs and rice meal as well as the eggs, potatoes, and Portuguese sausage meal! Service was very friendly. I wish we were in town longer to go again.

Bamboo Grille has been a Wailuku staple for years now. LOCATION: The old Nazo's restaurant. Or in detail, Lower Main Street, second level, west side of the Puuone Plaza. ATMOSPHERE: Simple and nothing exciting, like all other restaurants in sleepy Wailuku. FOOD: Double Loco Moco Rice, two homemade hamburger patties topped with two eggs (cooking style of your choice,) and dark brown gravy. The patties were moist and cooked medium. I got the eggs over easy and were cooked perfect. The dark brown gravy was savory as opposed to my kryptonite sweet. Roast Pork The majority of the sliced pork were tender and lean, with just a few tough and fatty pieces. I asked for "extra gravy" which didn't seem like they added much more, which was fine as the gravy wasn't the greatest in terms of flavor; very mild with no depth. The rice was cooked nicely, and yay, macaroni salad finally accompanied the dish! Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. Chicken Cutlet Yowza, delicious! Unlike the other reviews, mine weren't burnt. They were actually perfectly cooked and crispy, with insanely moist and juicy chicken. I asked for extra gravy which was poured onto the two scoops of rice in addition to the chicken, a dark brown concoction that was thick and tasty. I could've used more of the macaroni salad though some may say there's too much mayo mixed in. It's a generous portion size for the average human. Hands down the best cutlet I've had yet! Dry Mein - My mom's dish. She exclaimed "This is so junk, the noodles are hard!" Looking at it from across the table they looked normal. After tasting a strand, it was simply al dente, though with a slight doughy flavor due to its undercooked temperature. Personally, I liked it. She did not. Most places don't undercook their dry mein noodles like this, or maybe it was an off-batch. She soldiered on, finishing what she could along with the dipping broth and testified "I'm never ordering this again!" Okay then! LOL. Tuna Sandwich My spouse's choice. Hmm, I could've made this at home for way less. Just kidding! Whatever floats your boat. The wheat bread was nicely toasted with a good amount of tuna fill & veggies with thick-cut, crispy shoestring fries to the side. Their mayo comes premixed with mustard, a Maui staple. Saimin I believe I've found my new favorite saimin on Maui! Available in two sizes, I went large, and a generous portion it was. The bowl came searing hot and steamy to the table. The broth was perfectly savory, the noodles thicker and chewy (Iwamoto-brand noodles, I believe) and topped with green onions and thick slices of tender pork. Highly recommended! SERVICE: Consistently good. OVERALL: Your best option for "local food" in Wailuku.
Maui T — Google review
Wow! We ran into this place on pure chance and we are so glad we did. We were greeted at the door by Desiree, who has to be one of the coolest chickies we have met here. What a great personality! This is such a homey vibe, mom and pop shop. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken cutlet is insanely delicious. There’s nothing on the menu you won’t love. If you come by, say hi to Desiree. She’s amazing.

Fast food restaurant
Jack in the Box is a popular fast-food chain known for its diverse menu featuring burgers, chicken, tacos, and breakfast items. Customers often visit during their lunch break to enjoy their favorite meals. Some have experienced occasional issues with overcooked chicken strips but find that the buttermilk sauce helps mask any dryness. While some have encountered challenges with dining room closures due to staffing issues, they appreciate when the management communicates such changes effectively.
The staff is always great and hard working. I did let the employee know that if it takes 40 minutes for a mobile order, then you shouldn’t be accepting them. It’s not fair to the team members working there. This has been a consistent problem. One time I left after none of the cars moved forward for 27 minutes. This was about a month and a half ago. Or two. And it was just for a breakfast sandwich. And if you don’t have enough staff, you shouldn’t be open and you definitely shouldn’t be accepting more than drive thru and dine in. This just happened a third time tonight. And I meant to tell the sweet employee that she should let management and owner know. I think the sweet worker was Myrna G.

This was the most dirty, worse jack in the box I’ve ever been too. The manager himself didn’t use any gloves and was handling cash, food, boxes and everything else. They have spots for you to sit and eat but have bathrooms blocked off so can’t even wash your hands or use the bathroom. It looks like they never clean the cooking area. Very disappointing. I have never ever seen such disgusting Jack in the box in my life like this.

For me, this location is out of the way except for when I'm at work. It's a fairly newish store, probably about 15 years old or so, located at the busy intersection of Lower Main & Lower Waiehu Beach Rd. It's a small footprint, clean, with a few indoor tables, and drive thru. Access in & out is easy, parking is minuscule and tight. Service was friendly, though it took a while for my Ultimate Cheeseburger to be made. But, it was well worth the wait as the burger was nicely prepared and not sloppy at all except for a few ketchup & mustard overflows. The more, the merrier! FACTS: There are only 3 locations on the rock - This one, Kahului, and Kihei. JITB has locations in only 19 US states, mostly on the west coast, so we should all be so lucky! Kind of like having an In N Out. Just kidding. Nothing can compare to I&O! But imagine going to Boston, New York or Pennsylvania and having no JITB option? Shocking, but true LOL.

Great food. Good location. The restaurant was in renovations so not much seating. Lots of free parking. The cheeseburger was delicious!

Pretty fun location. I think there was bullet holes in one of the windows. One of the doors was locked close with a ratchet strap, and there was a rooster inside

Good food good service bathrooms were blocked off but you could use them if you didn't mind using the men's, the door locked. The restaurant looked sad, three tables and a whole bunch of deconstruction supplies piled high while you ate. Poor place 😞

I often come to this Jack in the Box during my lunch break. I always order the crispy chicken strips, but am always a little wary since every Jack in the Box I've been to will end up burning at least one of the strips every other visit. I prefer to eat the strips as is, but when the chicken is tough and dry from over cooking, I use the buttermilk sauce to try to cover up the taste. I just accept it as a fact of life when ordering from Jack in the Box. Today was one such day. This time though, about halfway through my meal, the lady at the counter inquired about how my meal was since there were no other customers at the time. When I informed her that one piece was burnt, she requisitioned a new one to take its place without me ever having to approach the counter. Needless to say, this level of service goes above and beyond any level of service I've received at a fast food restaurant and, at the time of this review, I would highly recommend this Jack in the Box as a great place to eat in. PS: Today, the printed covers for the buttermilk sauce were humorously askew. Just a funny little tidbit.

Made an online order to pick up from this location. When we went in to pick up our order we saw a sign that said no working grills. Online didnt say anything about no working grill. All we did was ask how we get our refund since the grill isn't working. We was met with attitude and eyes being rolled. What kind of customer service is that.
