Cathedral
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo is a historic pilgrimage site with origins dating back to the 9th century. It features a Gothic-era tower and baroque decorations in its chapels. Visitors can explore the old town, visit the local food market at Mercado El Fontan, and admire bronze sculptures depicting local Oviedo residents.
It is also known as Oviedo Cathedral. Established during the reign of Alfonso II el Casto, king of the Kingdom of Asturias, in the 9th century, the cathedral follows the Asturian Pre-Romanesque style, a distinctive architectural style that emerged in the region. Over the centuries, it underwent multiple expansions and reconstructions, resulting in a mix of architectural styles, with Gothic being the dominant style, alongside Romanesque, Baroque, and Renaissance elements. The cathedral's bell tower, reaching a height of 80 meters, is one of the key features of Gothic architecture. There is a saying, "He who does not visit Oviedo before going to Santiago is a fool," emphasizing the cathedral's deep connection to the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James), making it an important stop for many pilgrims. Inside, the cathedral houses the Cámara Santa (Holy Chamber), one of Spain's most important repositories for Christian relics. The chamber holds sacred relics, including the Cruz de la Victoria (Cross of the Victory), the Cruz de los Ángeles (Cross of the Angels), and the Santo Sudario (Holy Shroud). In addition to its religious significance, the cathedral also served as the royal mausoleum of the Kings of Asturias, further highlighting its importance in the history of the region.

It's a beautiful typical cathedral. It's clean and well preserved. A bit on the expensive side, I visited cathedrals more complex and bigger cheaper or for free. If you wanna go to the tower it becomes even more expensive. The cathedral has nice details of craftmanship; one does not need to be a religious person to admire it. Given the proximity to other buildings you have to walk a bit around to see it from diferent angles however the city it's beautiful so it's on the positive side.
Helder M — Google review
This is an incredible building. As it has been in place for 1200 years there are a mixture of architectural styles. The square in which it is situated was set up for the yearly festival but is quite beautiful. It costs €8 to view the interior which we don’t have time to do but looks beautiful in photos.
G M — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to the Cathedral in Oviedo. The entry was about €9 per adult, and it was worth it. Upon arrival, we were given a QR code that linked to an excellent audio guide we could listen to on our phones, with a choice of languages. The information was clear, interesting, and well-paced so was perfect for exploring and finding out more. The cathedral itself is stunning, full of history and beautifully maintained. It was peaceful and not at all crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Also, a practical note, the toilets were excellent and very clean, which is always appreciated during a day of sightseeing. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Oviedo!

Takeout Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Oviedo, Sidrería Tierra Astur Gascona is a delightful cider house that captures the essence of Asturian culture. Known for its warm and inviting atmosphere, this establishment offers an authentic experience where visitors can savor traditional dishes paired with exquisite local cider. The ambiance is lively yet cozy, making it a perfect spot for families and friends to gather over delicious meals. Guests often rave about the attentive service and the rich flavors that define their culinary offerings.
We had an amazing dinner here, enjoying delicious food and the traditional Asturian way of pouring cider. The atmosphere was great, and we loved watching the sidra being served. They open for dinner at 7:30 PM, but you can go earlier just for cider and beer. Authentic food, friendly service, and a great experience. Highly recommended!
MEL — Google review
Good value for money, is not cheap but the portions are huge. The service wasn't good, the waiters didn't refill our cider with the necessary frequency. The quality of the food was OK, but in Spain you always expect outstanding quality. I'm not going to repeat, but it is not a place to avoid. It has a nice shop of Asturian products.
Pedro T — Google review
What a great place to eat. The menu is extensive and food excellent. There is a good range of local ciders and wine. The service was great too. We will go back another time. Really sorry to have to update this review but as I said above we wanted to return. Unfortunately the waiter on the door was very rude when we tried to find a table and therefore we had to go elsewhere. I have sadly downgraded my scores
Daren R — Google review
Several people recommended this place to me. It was a good experience. I tried the cider and a beef and veggie dish. The beef was a bit fatty to my liking but the flavour was good. The cider was good too, light. Be aware though, they don't do the cider by the cup, it's by the bottle.
Deniz E — Google review
Friendly buzzing modern Asturian tavern with all the classics and innovations like tortos fashioned into cocas and pizzas. We came here for meat though and they did not disappoint, pork ribs were tender and smoky while the entrecôte was cooked perfectly rare as ordered and well rested. Cider service was well timed and expertly poured.

This was an amazing discovery in Oviedo. The food was great and there’s different options for vegetarians 🌱. You can get a traditional cuisine and a good ambiance. The waitress was lovely and explained the whole thing to us, she also recommended some cider.

This is really the must visit restaurant in Oviedo. The atmosphere is very friendly and all the menus are available in English. Food here is wonderful and portions are huge. Prices are pretty decent. This is one of the best places I have ever been. Dining here is the best with the group of people, but you can come here to enjoy food by yourself also. Big recommendation!

Sidrería Tierra Astur Parrilla is a well-known restaurant located in Oviedo, Asturias. It is part of the popular Tierra Astur group, offering a unique dining experience with a focus on local products and traditional cuisine. The establishment consists of two sections: a grill featuring local specialties and a restaurant that offers an extensive menu showcasing the same regional products.
Great place! We had some Asturian stew and a lot of sidra. The waiters serve it the traditional way here and the waiter we had was very attentive and kind.
Diego F — Google review
Frankly a bit disappointed with the food from the establishment. The cachopo was really tough to eat, as were the lamb chops. It's a busy festive restaurant but I guess not for us.
DANNY L — Google review
We had to wait for a bit to get a person to take us to a table. But the food was great, the service was fast/efficient, and the vibe of the restaurant is very classy and beautiful. I do recommend for people to share some of this plates that are big and filling for two to three people.
Nicole F — Google review
Atmosphere is great. Location is in very busy pedestrian area. Staff seemed uninterested when we approached to ask if there is a free table on the terrace. We have found it ourselves few minutes later when other guests left. Food is good, but to be honest I have expected more regarding the prices and reviews.
Filip — Google review
I usually try to avoid touristy spots, but this time I was really hungry and ended up here. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and went with the meat she suggested which is in the photo. The food arrived fairly quickly, but unfortunately it was a letdown. The fries were greasy and tasted like they’d been fried twice in old oil. The meat was rubbery and totally flavorless. The cider was nothing special either, though the way they pour it is kind of fun to watch. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, there are much better places just a few blocks away from the main street.
Tatiana B — Google review
We tried the local specialties, but the size of the "Gran cachopo vaca" was too big 🥶🤪
Wei C — Google review
The interior is strange in this bar/restaurant. It has design, but has also a touristic vibe. The menu is a complete photo album. But, the food is excellent and is reasonably priced. Drinking is cheap. Kitchen is still open, when al restaurants in the neigborhood are closed
Emiel R — Google review
The atmosphere was really nice and cool looking. The food however was disappointing, specifically Las Costillas Asadas, that my dad got. Given the cut of the meat we were assuming it was going to be a lot juicier, but it was extremely dry that he couldn’t finish it. As a starter we got the Huevos Rotos with the chorizo which was really good. However, my plate ( los escalopines de ternera ) never came, even though they had taken my order but never put it in, so we decided to just remove that from the order and leave. I would like to add that this is specifically just our poor luck, but also something to keep in mind.

Art museum
Museums
Art gallery
Nestled within the elegant 18th-century Velarde Palace, the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. This cultural gem showcases an impressive array of Spanish, Italian, and Flemish fine art spanning from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. With its modern annex opened in 2015, visitors can explore around 78 remarkable works by renowned artists such as Francisco Goya, Salvador Dalí, El Greco, and Pablo Picasso.
A museum full of surprises, from its architecture and sheer size to the quality of its collection. We really appreciate the free entrance. This assembly of pavilions, each with a distinct style, surrounds a modern central building hidden behind a traditional façade. The exhibition space is vast, and every painting is thoughtfully displayed, well-lit and not overcrowded. However, many canvases are poorly stretched, and there’s a lack of explanations for each piece. A few QR codes are scattered around, but poor network coverage makes it difficult to play the videos (which have very few views anyway). A shop would also be very appreciated! I still highly recommend the visit, plan about 2 hours.
Paulin B — Google review
A modern architectural addition has been added to the entrance of the Museo de Bellas Artes (fine arts museum) de Asturias. On the ground floor, there are remnants of an archeological site. Mostly Spanish artists can be found here with a few other nationalities represented. The Museo de Bellas Artes extends into neighboring buildings, which are themselves beautiful architectural structures. What’s more, there are lockers to store any small bags at the main entrance. There are also QR codes throughout the museum that can be scanned to link to videos with more information about pieces of art. WiFi is available and entrance is free. Can be extremely busy on the weekends. Highly recommend.
Nanita — Google review
Great museum that you can easily spend 3 hours in and it's free to visit. They have both a modern art section and fine art one in the older attached building. If you enjoy that more, I would spend more time in that part.
RV — Google review
The "Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias", located next to the cathedral of Oviedo, is definitely worth a visit. But first this: pay attention to the opening hours and plan your visit. As is customary in Spain, almost everything closes for a few hours in the afternoon. This is also the case in Oviedo, including this museum. In addition, the museum is only open until siesta on Sundays and is always closed on Mondays. But this museum is free to enter, you don't have to pay an entrance fee! The museum was only opened for the first time in 1980 with 78 exhibited works of art. That is almost unimaginable, because today the collection includes more than 15,000 works of art and objects. Inside, this museum is a maze, because the museum expanded further and further over the years in partly historical buildings. But we as visitors didn't mind that at all. We were totally surprised by the size of the collection and unfortunately we had the closing time in mind. We actually saw far too many works in far too short a time, but not everything. The collection covers eight centuries, from the 14th century to contemporary art. It mainly consists of works by Spanish artists: from local Asturian art to the greatest Spanish visual artists such as El Greco, Goya, Zurbarán, Picasso, Miró, Dalí to name just a few of the most famous representatives of Spanish visual art. There are also some artists from other countries represented. And in addition to paintings, the collection also contains drawings, sculptures, photography, glass, pottery and posters.
Jan S — Google review
Super lovely museum! Has some really great pieces - I loved the paintings from Sorolla and Fortuny! Had some cool paintings from Dali, Miro and Picasso too! There is quite a variety of styles, mediums and eras which means there’s something for everyone. The layout was quite confusing because you can only get to some sections from a specific level but I still managed to navigate it with the floor plan (not in English). I was there for 1.5 hours before it closed at 2pm which was a bit rushed and I didn’t feel like I really finished my visit. No shop which was a shame because I definitely would have loved some post cards of the beautiful art! There is a little bit to read in Spanish and English on each floor but not super insightful - it’s more an overview of what there is on that floor and what style. There’s not written descriptions next to the artworks. Free entry is much appreciated!
Rolanda A — Google review
The museum is so impressive that you’d probably need to visit it three times to be able to take everything in without rushing. The artistic quality of the works on display is truly remarkable. My personal top 10 definitely includes Saints Michael and Engracia (1490), The Nativity of the Virgin (1485), Anamorphosis (1935), and Bacchus and Ariadne. Maria Luisa in the Garden (1871) is truly charming. Centuries go by, yet a single painting traces back to people who lived their lives so long ago. A special thanks goes to the explanatory texts beneath some of the paintings, as they really help to look deeper into what lies behind the artworks and the ideas the artists sought to express.

Mercado El Fontán is a historic market located in the old quarter of Oviedo. The market has a lively atmosphere and offers a variety of fresh produce including vegetables, meat, fish, and bread. Surrounding the market are stalls selling flowers, books, antiques, and more. The building itself is an eye-catching 19th-century structure designed by architect Javier Aguirre.
A traditional market where you can find fresh produce, seafood, meat, cheese, and Sidra (Asturian cider), a local specialty. It is a must-visit for those looking to experience the authentic local culture of Oviedo. The market features modern facilities for a comfortable shopping experience, and outside, numerous street vendors add to the lively atmosphere.

Built in 1885, Mercado El Fontan is Oviedo central market serving the city. Flaunting an Art Nouveau style, it is in dire needs of some much needed renovations (just better lighting would do a lot) but let that stop you and entering the fine selection of specialized store. We thought the fish store was especially attractive that day with a wide selection of fresh fish. Free to enter, one of your must-stops while in Oviedo. P.S.: if this review and pictures were useful in planning your visit, please leave a 👍, thank you 🙏

A great covered market in the center of the old town. The main produce for sale is fish though there are meats, vegetables, pastries, grains, and fruit. There are restrooms which you pay to use. This is a feature of Oviedo : free public bathrooms are not a thing.

This is an excellent municipal market. There is a wide variety of fresh and gourmet prepared food. Curiously, while crowded on a Saturday morning, it was much quieter than similar markets throughout Spain that my wife and I have visited the past two years. If you need non-food household items, there's a Mercadona about 200 meters away.

Nestled in the vibrant Gascona street, Sidrería La Pumarada is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Asturian cider experience. This charming cider house stands out with its commitment to tradition and quality, offering a delightful selection of ciders that are expertly poured by skilled professionals. Recognized with the prestigious "Sidrerias de Asturias - Calidad Natural" seal, La Pumarada ensures that every sip reflects the rich heritage of Asturian cider-making.
We visited this delightful Spanish restaurant as a large family, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The day's menu featured asparagus with a savory meat pâté and a delicious gravy, followed by succulent roasted meat that had been slow-cooked for hours, paired perfectly with potatoes. The dessert was a creamy cheesecake, complemented by a tasty cider. Every dish was a hit, and the wine selection was superb. Thank you for such a memorable meal. We'll definitely be returning with our card ready for more!

Overpriced, super loud place. The food was ok, but clearly not worth the 5 stars that a lot of reviewers left here. The service is below average as well, nobody speaks English (they advertise that they actually speak), we waited more than 40 minutes for a pizza-like bread, didn't receive it until a couple of remainders

Expensive for what it is. Tourist trap, busy restaurant in a busy cider street. Most of the dish in the menu, you need to order for 2 or 3. Food is okish. Pan is super dry and expensive, 1.45E for a tiny. We can't even finish half of 1.. 12E for a simple salad without meat or seafood. Service is long, servers didn't pay attention to us at all. Not recomended

Really good seafood and warm service. I especially love the Galician octopus dish here. I came here in 2018, it was 19.95€, now 20.90€ in 2022. Not bad at all considering the price increase everywhere. It opens late.

Cider bar
La Finca Sidrería Agrobar is a modern yet traditional Asturian cider bar and restaurant, offering classic dishes and tapas made with 100% Asturian products. The decor combines contemporary elements with wooden cider barrels and farming equipment. The menu features gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegetarian options alongside traditional favorites like creamy rice with pitu de pedreru and fabada asturiana.
Bustling on a Saturday night - reservation needed. Portions generous and the traditional Asturian food was tasty. Cheeseboards offered a good choice (goats and sheep cheese along with two blue cheeses and quince jelly). The wild boar with chestnut puree was a great combination. The torrajo (labelled as French Toast?!?) as dessert was reminiscent in taste of bread and butter pudding: the accompanying hazelnut ice-cream was divine. Cider pouring from a height was iconic and done with serious stares. Eating was slowed down a bit by what felt like the whole restaurant staff emerging to watch replays of Real Madrid goals in the Champion League final - but the enthusiasm and apologies were fine!

It’s along Gascona street so we appreciate getting a seat indoors. We called in advance for the dinner reservation. The chipirones 🦑 was absolutely good! The susurro del cerdo was reminiscent of a Filipino favorite dish “sisig” — we enjoyed the meal a lot. :) Cerdo + squid + 2 bottles of sidra + agua con gas = 51,60€

Great place to eat at Calle Gascona (Bulevar de la Sidra), specially if you stay outdoors at the Terraza surronded by Sidra green bottles professionally opened all the time by the experient Camareros. We tried the typical Huevos Rotos con sabadiego (sabadiego is a typical smoked sausage from Asturias) 👍... and the traditional Cachopo (2 steaks with Asturian Queso Cabrales and Jamon Iberico in the middle) 👌. The Price worths the Quality and quantity but I recommend just the Cachopo for 2 people.

The staff are friendly and welcoming to customers. This place prepares authentic Asturian cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The Cachopo antiguo, a traditional version of the hearty dish, is a must-try. But don’t forget to finish your meal with the Torrija asada, a roasted French toast served with ice cream—an unforgettable dessert experience!

Avoid if you are not a local!!!! We speak enough Spanish to get by, but for any foreigner hoping for a warm Asturian experience, this is the worst place on all of 'Cider Street'. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Despite the restaurant having plenty of free tables, we were ushered straight to the very back, next to the toilets, without a single word of welcome. The service throughout was just as bad. At no point did any of the waiters smile or make any effort to assist us. When we mentioned that we might order more food later, the waiter snapped back, “You need to make sure you leave by 10,” even though it was only 8:30. Throughout the hour, our cider glasses sat empty as staff repeatedly walked past, deliberately ignoring us. Had the experience been better, we would have happily spent another €50 on more food and drink—but instead, we took that business across the road to Sidrería Tierra Astur Gascona, where we were welcomed with smiles and treated with genuine hospitality. The difference was night and day. A quick comment on the food we did have: Croquettes: 7/10 – nothing to complain about here. Patatas bravas/alioli: 4/10 – very few potatoes (only 8), and they were exceptionally salty. Bread: Not served with any butter or olive oil, though the latter was provided upon request. Overall, if you’re reading this as someone from outside Oviedo, please take your business elsewhere on the street and enjoy a far better night than we had.

What a discovery in the city centre! Walking around Oviedo we found this Mexican corner next to the old local fresh food market. We were served by Isaac, whose service was delightful, so it was the food he put on the table. Best lemonade I’ve ever tried. We’ll definitely come back.

Authentic and fresh food. Most, if not all tasted homemade. The flavor was perfect, although less spicy than in the Americas
Xavier K — Google review
The food is OK, if you know Wahaca in the UK - this is less flavourful. One of the dishes had been under the heat lamps for quite some time from the dryness of the tortillas. Service started off great but then became non-existant, and this was with only half the covers. Cocktails were great though - well done to the barkeep.
Kulvinder S — Google review
Very nice mexican restaurant in the heart of old town! The food was really close to authentic mexican with all fresh flavours. We were dining here with the group of people and everything was arranged perfectly. Service was super friendly. We even got table without reservation, as we were also the first customers of the day. I really recommend to visit here!

A delicious plate of mixed tacos, perfect chips and guac and a tasty Mexican horchata served in the cutest glass cactus cup. Staff is also very friendly and patient. I enjoyed, will be back next time I’m in town for work.

Food ok a bit bland. Though dead mosquitos were not welcomed at my table🤮

We had the gringa and alambre (i think it was called like that, see pictures). Both were delicious. The 3 sauces were good and thankfully not too spicy. The place as such is beautiful and there was also some live music, even though it is a little bit loud when the place is full. Mojito and margarita also very good. The menu can be a little bit overwhelming at the beginning because there are many options.

Restaurant
Spanish restaurant
Casa Conrado & Suárez is an attractive eatery with a pleasing ambiance, offering a delightful Menu Degustacion. However, the main dish, entrecote, was disappointingly tough for a restaurant specializing in beef. The service provided was excellent overall, barring the thick slicing of the entrecote. Two shortcomings were observed: the display of vacuum packed steaks in the window and mistaken identity of waiters as security guards at the entrance.
An all around excellent experience. The fabada was the best I’ve had, and the bonito with pimientos de padrón was amazing. Great flavors. I was impressed.

Great place for meat and with incredible service. Nice seating with table cloth.
Mighel M — Google review
Our waiter Javier made sure that we were well taken care of, despite not being able to speak much English. He gave us a serving of Smoked Jamon while we waited for our mains. We didn’t order any starters under the advice of Javier. We enjoyed both of our mains: the portions were huge! : I had the Ingot of Suckling Pig, while my date had the beef steak. Both were delicious: the suckling pig was braised and was accompanied by a fragrant truffle sauce glazed with kumquat (sadly I forgot to take a photo). The steak was juicy and charred nicely. Best steak on this trip so far in Spain! (We have been in Spain for about 2 weeks) We had the Estada Reserva red wine which was extremely good value for money (25 Euros) and tasted divine.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Estatua de Mafalda, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Teatro Campoamor. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled in the charming Campo de San Francisco park, the Estatua de Mafalda is a delightful tribute to the beloved Argentine cartoon character. This colorful statue depicts Mafalda, a curious 6-year-old girl, sitting on a bench with her signature smile. As you wander through this leafy oasis, you'll find it an ideal spot for relaxation and people-watching. The park's serene atmosphere makes it perfect for enjoying a sunny afternoon with friends or capturing memorable photos with Mafalda herself.
Cute statue on the bench to take some photos with.
DANNY L — Google review
The statue itself is not my flow. The park on the other side is a beauty
Nick K — Google review
It's a cute statue in San Francisco Park, in the center of Oviedo, in front of the duck pond. I didn't know anything about Mafalda as in Hungary we didn't have this comic so I looked up the story behind it. Its inauguration was in 2014 and Quino, its creator, was able to attend, since that same year 2014 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities.

San Francisco Park is a charming city-center park in Oviedo, featuring lush greenery, a picturesque pond, and an ornate bandstand. The park is home to resident peacocks and several authentic statues, creating a serene atmosphere for visitors. Nearby attractions include the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, which houses an extensive collection of fine arts from various mediums.
It is a beautiful park located in the heart of Oviedo. Created in the late 19th century, it serves as a major green space in the city, surrounded by expansive lawns and trees. The park features several ponds and fountains, as well as a variety of sculptures, all contributing to its picturesque landscape.

One of the most beautiful parks I’ve been to with incredible cleanliness and greenery.
Ernest V — Google review
Campo de San Francisco is a larger park with plenty of grass, trees and bench-lined passageways that are lit at night. What is unique to this public garden park is the date made by plants that is changed daily. There are a few vendors lining one of the larger pathways along a side of the park that sells cotton candy, waffles and other sweets. And there is plenty of statues also inside the park. This is a lovely green space in the middle of the city that is worth a visit and worth sitting down and enjoying it.
Nanita — Google review
Campo San Francisco is considered the lungs of Oviedo. It is a beautiful and peaceful Park filled with hundreds of trees including dozens of different varieties from around the world. The space dates back to the year 1534 when it was area as a public space and in 1816 became municipal property. When my mom was in her twenties, there used to be a live bear in a cage on display for visitors in the park 😭 the scent of eucalyptus adds to the delight of this beautiful natural respite.

This beautiful park is the heart of Oviedo city. You will find several pieces of art here as well an archway. The legendary date that changes daily is also found on the North East corner of the park. It is a great place to have a coffee, take a walk or even sit on the grass. It is pet friendly and you will find a dog park in it. There is also a cafe there.
Collins — Google review
Nice park with a lot of Japanese influence. Was lucky enough to be here during the festival of Oviedo - there were a lot of cool markets and stalls sampling the Asturian culture. There was even live music performances. Really nice park and very calming.

Not as large as parks on some other Spanish cities but equally lush green, leafy trees, interesting statues and fountains. Nice to walk under the huge trees. Quaint pond, children's playground and a small bar too.

Monument
Nestled on the east side of a bustling street in Oviedo, you'll find the intriguing Statue of Woody Allen, a tribute to the acclaimed director who received the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2002. This bronze figure stands as a nod to his film _Vicky Cristina Barcelona_, which was partially set in this charming city. The locals were so enamored with his work that they decided to immortalize him in metal!
During a vacation in Bilbao, we felt it's the right choice to visit the statue of Woody ( whose movies we love).. its a well made statue and it's the closest I will meet Woody 😂 Not sure if the visit was worth it as the rest of the city didn't really impress me. Nonetheless the scenery between Bilbao and Oviedo was so beautiful!
Pinball W — Google review
It is a statue dedicated to the famous American film director Woody Allen, installed in Oviedo in honor of his connection to the city. In 2008, part of his film Vicky Cristina Barcelona was filmed in Oviedo, and he praised the beauty of the city.
Seokjin H — Google review
Intriguing to find Woody Allen in the streets of Oviedo. The statue could use a bit of maintanence but neverthless captured Woody's essence and his trademark sad frowning face. Be sure to find that film Woody made for Oviedo!
Jennifer L — Google review
People keep saying he had a great bond with the city. As good as the bond he had with his step daughter? The one he married?
Tara — Google review
Life size Woody Allen statue, a must if you visit Oviedo. Woody has a great bond with this city, and a picture here is a great memory. Besides, be sure to check out more statues in Oviedo, you will have fun!
ELEAZAR P — Google review
A very popular statue, right in the middle of a vibrant, busy city.
CC C — Google review
If you are a fan of Woody Allen you need to have a photo with him in Oviedo! Woody Allen Statue appeared in Oviedo not suddenly. It was a present to the director and a sign of gratitude of citizens of Asturias. A life-size statue of Woody was inaugurated in 2005 after the famous film director dedicated compliments to the city of Oviedo upon receiving the Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes. In the same year Allen came to Spain and reached an agreement to film his movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” in Avilés, Barcelona and Oviedo.
Olga S — Google review
Exactly what it says it is, a statue of Woody Allen. The location marker is fairly accurate, but the statue itself is small and easy to miss at night or on a busy day. It's across the street from the park and in the middle of the pedestrian area, not in the park. It could use a little information to explain its presence for those not familiar with it.

Shopping mall
Salesas Shopping Mall is a major shopping destination in central Oviedo, featuring Spain's renowned department store El Corte Ingles and a large supermarket called Hipercor. The mall also houses various fashion stores, eateries like Burger King, and other amenities such as phone repair shops and shoe repair services. Visitors can explore an array of offerings including home items, gourmet markets, bakeries, and cafes on the top floor.
A big shopping center in the center of Oviedo that I like
Yv U — Google review
Nice shopping mall in the city. Mostly allocated to el corte inglés.
Reza M — Google review
This shopping mall has 3 or 4 floors. It is so big you could easily get lost in it, and forget where you got in.
ROBIN S — Google review
The top floor has some strange stores that aren't very good. But most of it is great, especially the big grocery store (Hipercor), the home items (Corte Ingles), Rodera, gourmet market, bakeries, and the little cafés. Hipercor is a lifesaver because they have a big selection, especially Asian, Mexican, American, English and vegan/vegetarian items that most of the local markets don't have. It can be a bit more expensive, though, so it's best just to get the specialty items and buy the rest of your groceries elsewhere.
Fish — Google review
Highly recommended. I love visiting Salesas center which contains numerous stores, in particular a comprehensive scope of El Corte Ingles departments, where you can find just about anything you want and have a lunch in one of the cafes.
S. M — Google review
A good little shopping center. There's a very good supermarket that has almost all you may need. Alcohol, clothes, meats, fish, and all other food stuffs. On the upper floors there's El Corte Ingles, they sell furniture, kitchenware, sportswear and goods, also bedding and other household items. There are places to get your nails done, your hair done and places to get a beer and a meal. It's by no means a one stop shop for all your needs, but it's not far from that.
Darren W — Google review
The corte ingles has a lot of things. Though they could have a better board game section. I get a lot of books here as they have a good selection. The supermercado is a good size a couple of little cafes with nice beer. The plant stall is beautiful. There is a phone repair place on the top floor (I haven't used it just stating that it is there) a shoe repairs place, phone contract shops. It also serves as a great cut through from the ring road to the main shopping district. Which it is really close to / part of

Teatro Campoamor, a cultural gem nestled in Oviedo, Spain, is steeped in history and elegance. Inaugurated in 1892 and named after the esteemed Asturian poet Ramón de Campoamor, this neoclassical venue boasts an opulent interior adorned with rich scarlet and gold hues. It serves as a prominent stage for various artistic performances including opera, ballet, and concerts.
Exceptional performance of Anna Bolena on 7th Sept... Superb chorus , and presentation style added greatly to evening.this was of the highest standard..well done to all

Lovely theatre, well maintained and staffed by people who show care for the place. The seats can be a little small for modern body sizes (length wise, anyway) but there is pretty good visibility all around, the boxes are worth the extra depending on the show. Surprisingly, the tickets are very reasonable (for the shows I've attended anyway).

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a well-established fast-food chain recognized for its classic burgers and fries. Customers often praise the larger, cleaner, and faster service at certain locations, along with friendly staff even during busy times. While some patrons appreciate the freshly prepared food and delicious menu items like spicy chicken nuggets, others note that cleanliness could be improved. Despite occasional longer wait times and lines, many still enjoy their experience at McDonald's and recommend it to others.
This week I have been coming here especially for the friends promotion that has been going on. All of the employees have truly been outstanding and very patient. Especially Andro who was always willing to help and answer any questions, I would definitely recommend this McDonald's for anyone looking for a quick bite and wonderful customer service.

Restaurant
Casa Fermín is a renowned restaurant in the capital, known for its elegant dining room and updated Asturian cuisine. Established in 1924, it is currently led by the third and fourth generations of the Martinez family. The restaurant holds two Repsol suns and was one of the pioneers in modernizing Asturian cuisine. It earned its first Michelin star in 1974, showcasing its longstanding culinary excellence.
We went for the Degustation Menu. 13 dishes. All being served very fast and cooked to a perfect condition. Gilda, the first starter, ice cream with relish and anchovy left us stunned - an explosion of tastes.
Valerie Z — Google review
For a Londoner with bountiful access to Michelin / bib gourmand restaurants, this is a 7/10. My artichokes were overseasoned and the toffee tuna was so literal. The reduction would have been too sweet even in a dessert.
Emmanuel X — Google review
Another good find for quality Asturian cuisine. The 'cabrito confitado' is a great dish to enjoy. Best to arrive in a share drive. Friendly staff. Recommended
Luis L — Google review
Superb food in a lovely dining area. We had an early lunch here before flying home and were made to feel very welcome despite being nearly an hour earlier than most other lunch diners. Ordered a couple of glasses of wine which were poured by the half so that the wine could stay cold. Jamón croquettes were wonderfully creamy - perhaps could have done with a fruit sauce for a bit of contrast but this is a mild criticism. Mains were superb - solomillo lovely and juicy and the suckling pig had a wonderful crunchy top.
Adam T — Google review
Excellent - we were given the Maridaje Premium menu as a present - superb - every course imaginative & delicious & the accompanying wines perfect. Great service - Maria was lovely, explaining each dish. A pleasant ambiente & a great experience all round - highly recommended.

This restaurant in Oviedo, Asturias, mentioned in the Michelin guide, is well deserved of a Michelin star. Starting with a lovely melon gazpacho, followed by an excellent Caviar with egg, and for the main entree a steak tartare with jalapeño and mustard ice creams. Then, to sweeten the palate, a typical dessert of my hometown, a Casadiella, a fried wheat pastry in Anisette filled with toasted walnuts and covered with white sugar. Finally, a nice brandy, Cardenal Mendoza, to end the evening. Awesome!!!!!
Vincent G — Google review
We tried the whole “Menú Degustación” and it was amazing, especially the ajoblanco and the sardinas. The entire experience was stellar and we even tried food never eaten before like the “Tendon de ternera”. The local white wine recommended by the dining room manager was perfect for the Menú. Service was impeccable and even Chef Luis Alberto Martinez came to say hi at the end of the evening. The restaurant inside is very nice and very quiet. We had one of our best dinners ever and a very pleasant time. I would definitely recommend it to anybody visiting Oviedo. Last but not least, prices were more than reasonable!
