Estes Park in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Estes Park, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Estes Park is a Colorado town in the Rocky Mountains. The mountain community is the gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park and the source of the Colorado River. Estes Park is also known for its wildlife, including elk, deer, and bears. Fun fact: Estes Park is also home to the Stanley Hotel, which inspired Stephen King to write The Shining.
With favorites like Rock Cut Brewing Company, Red Rose Rock Shop, and Claire's Restaurant and Bar, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Colorado Cherry Company at the Stanley Hotel and The Whiskey Bar At The Cascades Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Estes Park while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Stanley Hotel

Hotel
Resort hotel
The Stanley Hotel, located just outside the eastern edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, is an iconic and historic establishment that offers upscale rooms and condos with mountain views. The hotel, which opened in 1909, is known for its fine dining options, spa services, free breakfast offerings, and guided tours. Renowned as one of America's most haunted hotels, it has attracted attention for reportedly inspiring Stephen King's novel 'The Shining.'
We love everything about the Stanley. The location is just gorgeous and the ambiance is just amazing. We loved exploring the history of the hotel, the ghost tour was awesome, and the whole place is just beautiful. The room was very nice and we loved having the windows open for a nice mountain breeze. We tried all the restaurants and the bar and everything was exceptional. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This was not our first visit and certainly won't be our last.

Booked out stay with a hotel block reservation for a wedding. We were told we would be on the most haunted floor next to all of our family & friends. For Months we were looking forward to this unique stay. When we arrived we were checked into the handicap accessible room in the new addition down the road. Walking distance to the rest of the hotel- but it was raining which was less than ideal for walking around. Even though this room gave us access to the gym-spa & pool at no extra cost (why would it be anyways with what you’re paying for a room) we still went ahead as there was no way we could be moved with the hotel being fully booked. Only to find out other people in the wedding party complained and were easily moved to different rooms on different floors on the main hotel. However when we asked there was no option- just a weak sorry. The room itself reminded me of a motel 6. The $30 table that served as the desk- coffee station was literally from walmart. There was no fridge. No view. The bathroom was dirty- cracked tiles & the dirty clothes from whoever had the room before were in the corner by the window. The whole ambiance was not there. We were looking forward to a quirky-fun stay but instead felt completely cheated. $800 later- we realized we could have easily stayed a cheaper location since we were so separated from the other wedding guests anyways and had to drive anyways. We were told “at least we have AC” the Main building does not considering how old it is (totally normal as we have stayed at the mount Washington hotel which is very similar). Brunch was okay- again, for the price the quality is not there. I encourage everyone to go to a different restaurant outside of the hotel if you’re considering the service was nice at least! And sitting on the front deck you get that view you were hoping for from the room. Overall- it’s not worth the hype or money. All the guests from our wedding who were in the main building said their room was 80* at the end of September. So at least we didn’t have to sleep all hot & bothered.

The Stanely hotel is a staple of Estes park. With such a title comes the expense of enjoying the title. I would say the activities they have like tours and shows are fun and informative but on the more expensive side. Tours I did the Ghost Tour and the Shining tour. They were $30 each while one tour guide was more personable than the other, both were informative. The information overlapped on both tours which seemed a little redundant. I still enjoyed visiting different parts of the hotel and seeing photos from the guides of apparitions caught by guests. Didn't personally experience any spooky things but it was still fun. Overall I feel you could go on the Shining tour and get the most out of your visit. Wine bar The wine bar is a luxurious room to relax and enjoy drinks and appetizers. Prices are on the high end between $20-$100 depending on what you order. Wild life There were some deer hanging out on the back patio area enjoying some foliage. Very fun to see. A fun experience for anyone with rich history, a gift shop, restaurant, bar, and AMAZING VIEWS.

During my recent visit to Estes Park, I had the incredible experience of staying at **The Stanley Hotel**. This historic gem, famously known for inspiring Stephen King’s "The Shining," offers a unique blend of charm and a touch of the eerie. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The menu featured a range of delicious options, and I particularly enjoyed the locally sourced dishes that highlighted the flavors of Colorado. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the hotel’s famous **maze**. Wandering through the beautifully landscaped hedges was both fun and a bit whimsical. It’s the perfect spot for photos and enjoying the fresh mountain air. I also took some time to visit the **pet cemetery** on the hotel grounds. It’s a touching tribute to the beloved pets of past guests and provides a unique glimpse into the hotel’s history. The atmosphere in this quiet spot was both serene and reflective. Overall, my visit to The Stanley Hotel was a memorable adventure filled with history, great dining, and charming attractions. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience in the heart of the Rockies!

Came here for a tour of the hotel. Very much enjoyed the history of the hotel and learning more about it. As far as tours go, there are lots and lots of options! I do recommend that you book in advance, especially if it's a weekend. We came midweek and actually finished up our sightseeing early and popped in to see if we could get on an earlier tour. They were very accommodating and were able to move our tour to an earlier time slot. They do have a great whiskey bar, a chocolate store, and a fantastic gift shop. Definitely lots to see and take in here. They do encourage photography on the tour but video is not allowed.

My family took a ghost tour with Zach yesterday (November 1) and he was wonderful! Not only was he a great storyteller, but he was incredibly open to questions and telling stories about ghosts upon request. We learned so much about the history of the hotel, the spirits that reside there, and unique information about the town in general. My dad even captured this super creepy photo! Keep in mind, we were in a private room not open to people outside of the tour and no one on the tour was wearing white. Great experience!

The Good: - Beautiful location with great proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park and other great outdoor destinations - Both restaurants on site (Cascades and The Post) are excellent and a relatively good value based on the location. You will need to make reservations! - Bar is great, good atmosphere - Some of the staff are great (Vegas was awesome) others... not so much The Bad: - The staff often seemed to be overwhelmed by the never ending flow of non-reservation holding visitors and ghost tourists. - This place is more of a tourist destination for people who are into the ghost tours and associated "spooky" attractions than a four star hotel. If you like that stuff, great, you will love this place. For me, plowing through a steady flow of tourists in the lobby, bar and halls really detracted from the four star experience. Similar to being on a crowded cruise ship. To this point, for $10 anyone can come in and hang around the hotel. This takes up all of the parking with zero consoderation for guests. This place is not cheap, I should be able to park. - Once in your room it is a mixed bag. The initial room we stayed in was an ADA room that was barely a 2 star standard to include a badly engineered shower that flooded the bathroom. To the staff's credit, Vegas moved us with no issue into a much better room with no hassle. There is no AC , a known issue they openly tell you about. However, the heat didnt work either and it was in the low 30's in the morning. We were offered a space heater. Water pressue was also poor. The place is old and I get that, but you can't have it both ways. Four star hotels have heat and decent water pressure. Overall, this place is worth a visit, have drinks and dinner and check the place out. If you love the ghost tourism stuff, this is going to be your jam. For my wife and I, this was not the experience we had hoped for, at this price, for an anniversary trip. I would look elsewhere in Estes Park for a luxury experience.

We had a delightful visit on October 19th. Lilly, the front desk hostess, as well as the other front desk folks were absolutely wonderful! We made requests regarding our room in the notes when I booked and Alexander Kern chose a lovely room for us that we were delighted with! Thank you to everyone for making our visit so perfect! : )

American restaurant
Steak house
Cascades Restaurant is a renowned traditional steakhouse located within the historic Stanley Hotel, which served as the inspiration for The Shining. The restaurant offers a blend of classic and contemporary American cuisine, emphasizing seasonal, sustainable, and local ingredients. Its menu features prime steaks, wild game, gourmet burgers, fresh seafood, and Colorado specialties. With a polished whiskey bar and an extensive selection of cocktails, wines, whiskeys, and craft beers on offer at the full-service bar.
Indulging in the grandeur of the Stanley Hotel for Thanksgiving was a truly memorable experience. The Cascades Restaurant, with its historic ambiance and stunning mountain views, provided the perfect setting for a festive feast. I opted for the traditional turkey dinner, a comforting choice that exceeded expectations. The turkey was succulent and moist, complemented by a medley of classic side dishes – arugula salad w goat cheese and walnuts, creamy mashed potatoes, and crisp green beans. Each bite was a nostalgic journey, evoking the warmth and joy of the holiday season. While the food was undeniably delicious, it was the overall atmosphere that made the dinner truly special. The attentive staff, the elegant decor, and the soft glow of the fireplace created a sense of timeless elegance. It was the perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving, surrounded by history and culinary delights.

Don’t go for a dinner or any food. Just for a drinks and atmosphere. The charcuterie board was not fresh ingredients. The all meat that we’ve ordered was dry,old and no taste. Overpriced. Just a hype from the movie. The drinks were good actually. Big and expensive disappointment

the food was excellent!! my shrimp and scallops had at least 20 little scallops!!!! burrata salad was huge - even after splitting it for 2 of us

We celebrated a family birthday dinner at Cascades Restaurant in Estes Park, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a special evening. The food was nothing short of phenomenal. Between us, we ordered the duck, pork chop, and steaks—each one cooked to absolute perfection. The flavors were rich and balanced, the presentation was beautiful, and somehow the dishes managed to taste even better than they looked. Every bite was proof of the care and skill in the kitchen. On top of that, the service was excellent—attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely friendly. They made our family celebration feel special in every way. If you’re looking for a place in Estes Park that delivers a truly memorable dining experience, Cascades should be at the top of your list. Whether it’s for a celebration or just a great meal, you won’t be disappointed.

My fiance and I spent one night at the Stanley and decided to do it up for dinner while there. We ate at the Cascades restaurant inside the main building, and had a fantastic experience. He had a mixed drink, the "Rocky Mountain Grill Flight" (4 oz each venison, bison, and elk tenderloin, each with its own topping), and the fingerling potatoes. I had 2 glasses of pinot grigio, the amazing arugala buratta salad (pictured), and the wild game meatloaf (elk, angus, bison, & wild boar meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolini). The bill came to about $200 before tip, although you could definitely eat there for less, or for a lot more. We would definitely return!

I don’t know how else to describe this dinner except that it was absolutely perfection. Burak was absolutely one of the most phenomenal waiters provided great conversation and excellent recommendations when it came to how we wanted our food prepared. He also helped with our side selection. We started with the spinach, artichoke appetizer phenomenal. We then split the grilled meat flight which included elk, Bison, and venison as well as the 8 ounce fillet. We finished our dinner with crème Brûlé absolutely outstanding. We got to sit on the lovely patio with our own personal fireplace. This dinner was nothing but a dream we will be back hopefully one day. Chefs kiss**

We are here twice during our stay this weekend. The first time we waited 20 minutes for our reservation. The second we were seated right away. Our severs were Ryan and Burak. Both were nice and pleasant. The food is the issue, also the noise level and loud music. This restaurant needs to decide what it wants to be a sports bar or a higher end steakhouse. It’s trying to do both and it is unpleasant. The decor is very nice and has lots of potential but someone needs to make it happen. The tomato bisque was not bisque it was chunky and had an awful bouquet of something in it. The Cobb style salad was cold from the fridge and missing the bacon. The dinner on Sunday was equally poor. The cheese board was massive with three flavors of cheddar cheese. While pretty and the cheese was fine it was all cheddar. The meatloaf was pretty good. The bacon wrap wasn’t cooked all the way and was soggy. There was some unpleasant spice in the meatloaf that overwhelmed the delicious sauce that covered it. The broccolini was ok, the whipped potatoes were delicious. The impossible meatballs and spaghetti with marinara was awful. The meatballs had some kind of spice profile more akin to middle eastern food versus Italian. The pasta and marinara were cold. We each had a glass of wine from a nice selection. Between the bumping music, the football games on three TVs at the bar the diners were loud. Way too loud, we had to practically yell at each other. I sincerely hope this beautiful spot lands on a platform and fixes the food issues. Ryan and Burak deserve better. They were pleasant and attentive.

The quality of our food was a fantastic surprise. I ordered what I would call a "filler" menu item, not one of the stars of the menu. It was executed with a level of skill and care you would expect I ordered the most expensive item on the menu. The saucier that was on staff the evening we were there was the Star of the show. Their sauces took every dish 2 levels above anything I could have expected from anywhere in Estes Park. The execution would have me convinced we were in a major metropolitan center in any major Western country in the world. Hands down the best execution of a full table of dishes we have ever experienced in our lives. My wife is a classically trained chef. This place is worth their salt. Dishes ordered Duck Scallops and shrimp pasta Chicken blueberry arugula barrata salad Filet Brussel sprouts Finger potatoes Mashed potatoes All fantastic. Oh and lamb lollies for the app (picture). Thank you for your dedication back of house!

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Ed's Cantina & Grill is a vibrant, locally owned cafe that offers traditional Mexican cuisine and a variety of drinks including margaritas and beer. Located on the far east side of Elkhorn Rd by the riverwalk, this hidden gem provides a great dining option without long waits during peak tourist seasons. The restaurant's menu features expertly crafted margaritas, tacos, Tex-Mex dishes, and Southwestern-inspired flavors.
Great vegetarian options! The chile relleno was so good, something like i’ve never had Although chips and salsa are not complementary, they were very fresh and delicious! The two different sauces on the enchiladas were really good! Very friendly staff and helped us customize the food exactly the way we wanted it The restaurant is spacious and pretty with a lot of cool local art ☺️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Always our go-to spot in Estes Park! Ed’s Cantina & Grill never disappoints. No matter how busy they are (and they usually are!), the service is impressively fast and efficient. We ordered and had our drinks in under 5 minutes, and our food followed shortly after—less than 10 minutes later! My favorite is the bison enchiladas—they’re packed with flavor, and the sauce has the perfect balance of spice and tang. It pairs so well with the pinto beans and rice on the side. Another must-try is their fried green beans—a total game changer for picky eaters who don’t usually love veggies. Seriously, give them a shot. We also ordered the plantains, which were amazing - crispy edges, soft center, and topped with cilantro, black salt and sunflower seeds. From the great food to the quick service, Ed’s has earned its place as a staple for us every time we visit Estes Park. Highly recommend!
Camille P — Google review
First time trying Bison Enchiladas. I asked for all rice and no beans and all the sauces and garnishes on the side (I like flavors but not a lot of heat). I took my first bite and I realized I should have asked the waiter about the heat level of the bison meat. He came back to our table to see how we were doing and I asked for a side of sour cream to lessen the heat and it helped greatly. Now I was able to taste and enjoy the enchiladas. They seasoned it well. Bison is lean and it needs assistance from the chef to make it tasty. Excellent service from our waiter. I like it a lot when restaurants use handheld devices to place orders and to check out guests. Your credit card never leaves your hand. Small parking lot next to the restaurant. It’s free parking after 5pm otherwise you hunt for street parking or use the parking lot at the library across the street. Fun and lively vibe at this restaurant.

We enjoy dinner here but honestly it's a great place to sit at the bar, have an appetizer, or two, and chat with the bartenders. Fun to watch them do their thing & learn about the different drinks they offer. Highly recommend the avocado margarita, the mango margarita is yummy too! The pork chili fries were simply delish!! Bartenders at Ed's are the bomb!
Debbi M — Google review
I really enjoyed this restaurant. It has a bar and plenty of indoor dining seating. I sat at the bar and ordered a spicy margarita which was delightful. The bartender, was the best. He gave me a great recommendation of getting one taco of different kinds. And to try the bison. I'm so happy I did. The bison was my favorite. The barbacoa is also very well done. I was pleasantly surprised.
Joanna V — Google review
After a full day of hiking in RMNP, tacos felt like the perfect reward. This restaurant was close enough to walk to from my hotel, which sealed the deal. The restaurant was moderately busy, so I grabbed a spot at the bar rather than get a table. The lady that greeted me was great and brought me water and a menu right away. It was happy hour, but I declined ordering a drink. I watched three people that sat down after me order food, happy hour drinks, and get served while I sat there still waiting to order food. After waiting longer than it takes to climb a trail switchback, I decided to go elsewhere. The food looked fantastic from afar but, sadly, I never got to try it. The servers were never rude, just distracted with other tasks and diners. Apparently, saying “just water for me” is the bar equivalent of an invisibility cloak. If you’re thirsty for a drink, you might get great service here. If you’re hungry, get a table or maybe pack a snack. I sure wanted some tacos!

Coffee shop

Nestled at the end of Elkhorn Avenue in downtown Estes Park, Kind Coffee is a charming and inviting café with a relaxed atmosphere. The café boasts bamboo floors and a cozy interior adorned with wood paneling, offering a picturesque view of the nearby riverwalk from its tables. Known for its organic coffee, baked goods, and sandwiches, Kind Coffee prides itself on promoting environmental sustainability through the sale of certified organic and fairly traded coffees.
This is hands down the cafe with the best landscaping in Estes Park. I just walked in without knowing anything about it and was completely captivated by the riverside promenade. It's a popular spot, and the coffee tastes excellent. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, and they were incredibly generous with the cream cheese, which I loved. Sitting outside with my coffee, watching the river, and eating my bagel was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. I even visited other nearby places for lunch, but this location is by far the most beautiful and has the best atmosphere. If you're looking for a cafe in Estes Park, this is the place! Highly recommend!

What a sweet little spot! This riverside coffee shop was the perfect place to start our morning. The lattes were delicious, the hot cocoa was rich and comforting, and the homemade muffins were a hit with everyone. You can also order a warm, hearty bowl of oatmeal or a simple egg and cheese sandwich—both were fresh and satisfying. There is plenty of seating inside which is helpful on those chilly mountain air mornings. After finishing our breakfast, we headed out back by the river. The setting was peaceful and beautiful, making the whole experience even better. It’s one of those places that just feels good to be in—laid-back, welcoming, and clearly run with care.

Nice coffee shop.- really good coffee. This is possibly the best coffee I have had at a coffee shop in Colorado. I struggle with the strong floral notes from most coffee shops but Kind Coffee is different. Their coffee is smooth and has a great aftertaste. Their staff were good - some were super friendly and others not so much, however we were there on a very busy Saturday morning- so I guess they can be excused. Food was very average unfortunately- and I think they could do a little more with it. All round a pleasant experience.

Kind Coffee was such a neat spot. We stopped in for breakfast while starting our day before visiting RMNP. We ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte, Strawberry Banana Smoothie, Bacon Burrito and Avocado Toast. Everything was good except for the Avocado Toast. We ended up having to order something else but other than that, everything tasted great. They have benches out back that you can sit at and enjoy the water and just enjoy nature!

So much love for this CUTE coffee shop! Great service even with the long line. Beautiful view. You can even get a little shopping in while you wait for your order. Be sure to walk out the back door to walk along the creek. If you continue on to the right you will be able to dip in and out of the cute shops. I had a macha oatmilk latte. It was delicious. I also got oatmeal. There are lots of breakfast choices. #allergygirl

every time i come to estes park i stop in kind coffee! my favorite coffee is the iced white chocolate raspberry latte. their espresso is great & their flavored lattes aren’t overly sweet. if you like really sweet coffee i would recommend asking the barista for extra of whatever syrup you get. the baristas are always so nice & give great recommendations if you’re unsure about what you want. they also have really cute merch & other gifts in the shop. love this place!!!

I’ve wanted to try this place again so bad! I hadn’t been in…a long time and was dying to go back, especially since this time I’d get to try some of their seasonal items! And I got the misty mountain! And can I say, I’m so sad it’s only seasonal because it was so delicious and I’ll cry inside that I’ve never come across a similar drink anywhere else. 10/10! I also tried their veggie burrito and it was delicious! Without the green chili it would have been very bland so yay for flavor! 8/10 I also love that they have a water bottle station by their back door! It’s the best place to walk along the river, but you don’t always see places you can fill back up, so this was a delight to see.

Visited solo 6:30 am 8-4-25. Was busy at arrival. Tried the Narrows bagel. Not impressed. Egg was a pre packaged microwave type egg. I ate half and threw away remaining. Did order a bag of coffee for cold brew to make at home. Looking forward to seeing how it tastes. Did see deer come down off the hill on other side of creek while sitting outside. They do NOT have gluten free options.

The Estes Park Visitor Center is a central hub for information and activities in the area. Located conveniently near major highways, it offers access to free shuttle buses and serves as a starting point for exploring the town. Visitors can obtain maps, weather forecasts, and other up-to-date information from local guides at the center. Additionally, it provides easy access to hiking trails leading to Lake Estes and the downtown riverwalk.
Absolutely loved our stop at the Estes Park Visitor Center! The staff were super friendly and helpful, with great tips on trails, weather, and wildlife. The center itself was clean, well-organized, and full of useful maps and brochures. But the real highlight? We saw a whole family of elk just outside the building! It was such a magical and unexpected experience. A perfect introduction to the beauty and wonder of the Rockies. Definitely make this your first stop when visiting Estes Park!

Excellent visitor center. Well staffed and enthusiastic to answer questions. Lots of interactive things in a small gift shop, as well. Definitely worth the visit. They have a large parking garage across the river with a bridge to get there. They also have a smaller parking lot. Both are free. They have a place to fill up water and decent enough bathrooms. Five stars!

Beautiful park and center. There are elk all over the park. They obviously feel very safe there! Do not approach them. They are still wild animals even though they are eating the grass at the golf course! The river is beautiful too!

This is the best underutilized spot. Great parking to walk to shops and see the sights. I also found the view of the Stanley Hotel here to be a great photo op. Go park on the top of the garage. Its beautiful ans no one is ever up there. You can get the mountains and the stanley in a beautiful photo with a little zoom on the lens of you phone.

First place I visited in Estes Park to get a better understanding of my surroundings. Was a useful 1st visit as beforehand, I thought you could just enter the Rocky Mountains areas and just go throughout however much you wanted. But, you need reservations. For the one we wanted, we had to wait till 2pm (we initally arrived at 10:30am) for the gates (so to say) opened. The 2nd reservation is at night and opens at 6pm which we weren’t too interested in and was already completely booked. The visitor center has tons of maps, a bathroom, local guides which will answer every question you have and are very friendly. Definitely a good idea to come here 1st as I think they started making reservations right after Covid-19.

Park
Bond Park is a charming and scenic park located in downtown Estes Park, offering stunning mountain views and a variety of community events and festivals throughout the year. The park features open green spaces, art installations by local artists, and a picturesque pond. With its prime location near Elkhorn Avenue, visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere while exploring the park. Bond Park also hosts farmer's markets, art markets, performances, and other engaging activities for tourists to enjoy.
Absolutely beautiful, there was a concert last night and we all were blessed with dozens of female and baby elk. They were calmly eating the grass while people surrounded the park and listened to the music. Beautiful environment!

Great place to relax down and take in the views. There’s also a chance to see some wildlife as well.

Between the sensory garden and the many water features, this is an awesome spot to visit on your Estes trip. It helps that it is secluded by trees and greenery, but still right in the middle of all of the shopping. Highly recommend!
William C — Google review
A nice city park with lots of businesses near by. We stopped in on our way to Rocky Mountain national park. It is right that in the river and you wade in if you want to. It is super relaxing just to sit and enjoy the running water. It has paid parking during the summer and it is reasonably price at less than 3 dollars an hour. You can walk along the river or the Main Street. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and multiple places to get ice cream.

We went to the Pumpkin&Pilsner in Park, and it was a blast, so much fun!! All the food and beer, we loved the Pumpkin Ale, so many people having good fun with music and games. We are visiting for Utah and will be back, thanks and for a great cause too!

Amazing place to sit on a summer day while the rest of your party shops or browses. Incredible view of Colorado 14ers, colorful flowers, pleasant atmosphere and accessible bathrooms as well. Note that parking is paid, but you get free wifi in the city.
David B — Google review
I’ve been to several festivals here, but my best memory was when I was sitting at one of the restaurants nearby overlooking the park when a few large elk decided to go on an adventure through the park and the nearby parking lot. Was quite festive, watching people both trying to take pictures and running. I wish there was better parking in the area without being so costly or limited on time.

Nice little park in the heart of Estes. Not much to it, well manacured lawn with benches. Great for chilling out a bit or walking your dog. Bronze statue in the corner and it's next to the police station. Parking lots on either side.

The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is a delightful way to experience the stunning beauty of Colorado's mountain landscape. Ascending to the summit of Prospect Mountain, this vintage European-style cable car offers breathtaking panoramic views from an impressive elevation of around 9,000 feet. In just under five minutes, visitors are whisked up over 1,000 feet above the ground, where they can take in sweeping vistas from the observation deck or explore various hiking trails that meander through this picturesque area.
The tram was hands down a highlight of our trip. Yes, pricey, but such a wonderful experience. We visited on a Friday at 9am and there was only one other group in line. We waited no longer than 15 minutes to go on the tram. Also, if you go early in the morning or late evening, you can take advantage of the discounted adult tickets. All of the staff members we encountered were very nice. One of the tram operators was especially kind to our kids after noticing they were a bit frightened. He made sure to make them feel safe, and we were very thankful for that. At the top, the view was incredible. There were a few trails, but we just decided to climb up the rocks and sit there to take in the view. The gift shop and cafe were right where the tram leaves you. There are not many options, but it's good for a quick snack.

I feel this is a Must Go! And if you're smart about it you can get cheap tickets to ride instead of paying full price. It's a short ride to the top where you'll find a small cafe and gift shop. I recommend having lunch then taking the hike to the summit! The 360 views are Spectacular, who knew Estes is actually so BIG. All the staff was Super Friendly too. Great way to spend an afternoon!
Karla T — Google review
The tram was a lot of fun and the operators were super friendly and very pleasant to chat with. At the top it's worth trying to hike up to the summit for some amazing views of the valley. The cafe was well maintained and had a decent menu. We weren't hungry but did pick up a coffee and hot cocoa. They also have alcoholic beverages but it was morning so had to pass. Prices are reasonable and online with what you'd expect. Tram was a lot of fun and gorgeous views!
B K — Google review
The ride was 5 minutes in a small compartment with no seats. View was nice going up. Cafe was closed, but the small souvenir shop was open (with bathrooms). The views were nice but I was expecting more snow-capped mountains. Nice, but not really worth the price.

Absolutely Incredible Experience! The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is hands down one of the best experiences you can have in the Rockies. The views are nothing short of breathtaking—you get a panoramic look at Estes Park, the valley, and the mountains that feels like stepping right into a postcard. What really made the trip unforgettable, though, was the staff. They were just as amazing as the view itself—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest had a great time. From start to finish, you feel well taken care of. If you’re in Estes Park, this is a must-do. Whether you’re here for the scenery, the adventure, or simply to soak in the beauty of Colorado, the tramway delivers on all fronts. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
Jason A — Google review
Such a fun experience here in Estes Park. We had such a great time heading up to the mountain and hanging out on top. What a fun way to see things from up so high. Note: We had timed tickets and had to wait until our designated time to enter.
Erin R — Google review
The tram was quick and efficient. Only takes 5 minutes to make it to the top. Can’t beat the view, but the food is good too. I had the hiker’s burrito. The salsa was so good. They serve breakfast until noon. The friendly employees really make it great. They have a good selection of treats and drinks too. The views from the top are amazing! Nice to be able to hike too.

Hello Everyone, Now going up to the Tramway was amazing. I have been going to Estes Park for such a long time. I did not realize that this was in that location. Such beautiful site to see make sure you take a backpack, snacks, sunscreen, water, and enjoy the view. They have picnic tables and a gift shop and serve sandwich, snacks, and sweets. now you do have to pay for parking, which is $6.50 for four hours. But you can stay at this location and ride the last cart down. 3.25 time ride going up T 3h

Cafe
Coffee on the Rocks is a charming neighborhood coffee shop with a relaxed atmosphere and outdoor seating near a tranquil duck pond. It's an ideal spot to enjoy a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee while taking in the serene surroundings. The cafe offers a variety of java options, from bold espressos to creamy lattes, all expertly crafted by skilled baristas using carefully selected beans.
This is my new favorite coffee shop! The coffee itself is mediocre, but the atmosphere makes up for it. I enjoyed walking around the pond with my drink and feeding the ducks. I love that they come right up to you and eat out of your hand. I made my husband come here every day of our trip, but unfortunately on the last day we had to leave because the line was out the door and we had to drive back to Wisconsin. I hope I’ll make it back someday!
Kristin T — Google review
This place was adorable. There’s a nice pond to walk around and shady spots to drink coffee. They also have an inside room. For kids (or adults!) they offer food to feed the feisty ducks and geese. I wish we had found this place on our first day instead of our last - especially because they also serve wine/beer/cocktails in the evening. The cold brew was good too :-) Highly recommend.
Mandy T — Google review
We got here early and got before the rush. The workers were so sweet!! They had many recommendations. I will say it is pricey but worth the experience in itself. I had a hot oatmilk latte and the happy camper bagel. Unfortunately my husband's bagel was burnt and we were too shy to go up. But it was so worth the beautiful views, the ducks, and the beautiful fall weather! So beautiful!
Karen E — Google review
I found this place by pure accident, and I couldn’t be happier. Beautiful area with fair pricing for both rocks and coffee. The Rock shop is phenomenal and has a large collection of gems and fossils alike. I cannot recommend this place enough! (They also sell corn inside so you can feed the ducks!)

Adorable little coffee shop with amazing mountain view! I loved the Bombay chimney latte as well as their breakfast food selection. It was such a fun time feeding the ducks as well!
Allyson K — Google review
Cute little coffee shop with outdoor seating; rock benches & tables (Hence the name!) along the river in Estes Park. We had croissant sandwiches with our lattes. Great ambiance!
P T — Google review
They have a good concept, fews things: A) right locations easy to find B) clean areas C) activity for the kids (small time activities) D) amazing views E) the feeding ducks are pretty popular F) decent menu sizes In the other hands: A) kind of pricey B) staff treat you like a number, pretty much ask you order get out C) if you don’t like your drink order good luck with it! The staff will not do nothing about it! Pretty much you paid already so it’s your lost even if you go and asked for change the drink or anything they will tell you sorry ! Maybe add more cream or something simple D) duck are excessively feeding they are pretty much not hungry at all and you will try your hardest but they won’t eat anymore E) the problem quality of the food it’s pretty much packed food / packed pastry In general it’s an activity to fill up an empty space on your day and avoid be bored but it’s overrated! Because it a tourism place they get away with it but you can direct that money and time in a better activity
Ja D — Google review
Wife and I stopped for coffee, along with a quick bite, following a 7 mile hike in RMNP. Location and atmosphere are park like. While the interior is charming, the outside seating, pond, and walking path are definitely a feature. There was bird feed for purchase and plenty of folks were enjoying giving it away to the local geese/ducks. We tried (2) lattes (a raspberry and chocolate/coconut), The Big Buck (avocado toast), and The Little Duckling (peanut butter toast w/toppings). The coffee was good but didnt really stand out. The toast options were also good but nothing above and beyond. However when you factor in the setting, it was still a nice stop and we would certainly come again. If you are nearby, give it a try!

The Colorado Cherry Company at the Stanley Hotel is a must-visit stop for travelers. The hotel, known for inspiring Stephen King's The Shining, offers ghost tours and the option to stay in rooms with reported paranormal activity. Visitors can pick up various souvenirs such as flavored whipped honey, elk jerky, cherry wine, and Vidalia onion peach hot sauce. The cherry cider and peach cider are highly recommended while the blackberry cider has a slightly noticeable aftertaste.
Love this place such a huge selection. Had to stop and get some ice cream for the hot day. But the bison pot pie is to die for. So good! Easy to get in and out of. It’s a very quaint place with a eating area both inside and outside but everything from cider to wine to your favorite preserves pickled items and so much more pastries pies you name it. It’s got it. It’s a must stop at on your travels.

Cute little shop in the Stanley Hotel complex. Staff were nice and friendly, atmosphere is pretty authentic. The cherry pie was OK, nothing special which was kind of disappointing to me. I also got a cinnamon roll which was very good. Use the discount coin from the Stanley parking.

This is part of The Stanley Hotel so you won't be able to visit unless you are on the grounds. They sell a lot of products with cherries in it like cake, cookies, snacks, jam and other items. They also sell coffee and drinks as well. Dining room so you can sit and relax with your purchase. I had a cinnomin cookie and was good.

The crust of the cherry pockets were very good.

Note: you have to pay $10 to enter the parking area of the Stanley Hotel, which comes was a $5 off token to use at any of the shops (incl. Colo Cherry Co). The cherry pie was delicious, and we strolled around a bit in the basement area looking at some of the Stanley Hotel factoids. The spiced chai was great, too.

Nice selection, but customers are not allowed to use the restroom. You have to go to the porta potty, which is disgusting. I have a Mom who is in her 80's. Why is this? Even if people are desperate and have to go to the bathroom, while driving out of Estes Park, show some grace.
Kathy D — Google review
You don't have to be a guest of the hotel to pop in for a snack. The phone number doesn't work so hopefully this helps someone else. Skip Starbucks, come here instead. I got the cherry pie with a hot tea. It was unbelievable! Not too tart, not too sweet, just perfect. The barista recommended it to be warmed and wow incredible.

We stopped here once on the way up to RMNP and then loved it so much we came back on the way back down! We got several souvenirs (flavored whipped honey, elk jerky—just ok, locally made cherry wine— just ok, Vidalia onion peach hot sauce—so good, and various other things). Great stop to grab a few things to take back home to your loved ones! The cherry wine, I thought was just ok. We loved the cherry cider and peach cider! Blackberry had a bit of an aftertaste IMO. Ask for samples before you buy, they are happy to let u try whatever. We got a peach, apricot, and mango smoothie — pretty good! Also had the bison chili which was meaty and flavorful, it comes with cheese and onions and crackers. Very good. And the bison pot pie, which had a wonderful filling crust. Good comfort food! The blueberry handheld pie was a nice dessert but nothing awe inspiring. The service and atmosphere is excellent. This is a small family owned restaurant and they care about their customers. Highly recommend a quick

The Whiskey Bar At The Cascades Restaurant, located within the historic Stanley Hotel, offers a unique experience for visitors. With a historic cocktail menu and Colorado's largest selection of whiskeys, it's the perfect place to enjoy handcrafted cocktails and explore different whiskey options. The cozy atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make it an ideal spot for a date night or simply enjoying some drinks at the bar.
We went in for a drink at the bar. The bartender was incredibly informative about the area and about drinks. He served us a Vieux Carre, a version of a Manhattan after learning that we had lived in New Orleans for a while. We were having such a good time we ended up staying for dinner and greatly enjoyed the grilled meat flight sampling bison, elk and venison. definitely expensive, but worth every penny!

We came here after doing the shining tour. It definitely is busy at the bar so we were lucky to get 2 seats. The cocktails and desert was delicious. I got the old fashioned cheesecake which I highly recommend. The portions was huge. Great bartenders and service.

Had a nice time with a girl, cool dude working there. Place was spot on and this apetizer was flavourful. Cocktails good, just wished that espresso martini was served in martini glass, they also have plenty of parking available. Will be back.

I saw the rating and almost didn’t stop in. This would have been a mistake, we really enjoyed this bar! The staff was extremely accommodating. The atmosphere was wonderful. The drinks were pricy but honestly considering the location this should have been expected. We tried at least 6 different mixed drinks with some whiskeys and there’s something for everyone. The margarita-eske drink was my personal favorite. Everyone loved the rum punch as well! If you like crème brûlée, I highly recommend this one!

They feature locally grown produce in their dishes and offer a variety of classic American favorites such as BBQ, burgers, trout, benedicts, biscuits & gravy, and chicken & waffles. Wife and I stopped for an early dinner after enjoying the Mustang Mountain Coaster. The restaurant is located in the downtown shop area. The exterior is quaint with home look and outside patio. The interior is decorated well and was clean. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive. Wife and I both had the Mahi Mahi tacos. We tried the onion rings and lobster bisque as well. The food came fairly quickly and was prepared well. The tacos were surprisingly very good, my wife loved the onion rings, and I enjoyed the lobster bisque. Overall, we had a good experience and would certainly stop back.

Our hotel (Estes park inn) suggested this place. Seated immediately. Food was delicious and fast. Large portions VERY reasonably priced. Wonderful service. This place is amazing!! (Ribs appetizer, fish n chips, Cobb, and chicken sandwich) Nicolas was our server and he was the best!!!!!

I was definitely wanting to try something different and the wild game meatloaf was it. I love the flavor and the consistency really didn’t need much of a knife. I wish I had taken a picture of the elk burger because I will definitely be trying that next time. I was definitely a big fan of the gravy if I lived close enough I would be tempted to get a side of that to take home.

Claire’s Restaurant & Bar in Estes Park is a gem! I ordered the game meatloaf and it was absolutely delightful—savory, tender, and full of flavor, the perfect comfort food after a day in the mountains. The atmosphere has that cozy mountain-town charm, and the staff really make the experience special. Lazarus, our server, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and gave spot-on recommendations that made our visit even better. If you’re in Estes Park, treat yourself to a meal here!

I chose the only terrible option on the menu- the club sandwich.. the bread was dry and very very hard. They didn’t even give me a full piece of bacon. The French dip I am told is incredible, and the chicken sandwich I am also told was really good. I guess just don’t order the club?

This is a nice place. We went on a Friday morning around 9am. This place is very popular, hence they add you to a waiting list which you can view your status on the queue online. The line moves very quick. Once our table was ready, they sat us right away. Our waitress came right after and took our orders. I felt somewhat rushed. Our breakfast came quickly and it was very delicious. They have a good menu, however, I wished they had a bigger option for side dishes as 1 pancake or corn bread … The atmosphere was nice and the place is very good and good for large crowds.

The staff are kind, helpful, and do a great job keeping things moving even when the restaurant is full. The Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, located in Rocky Mountain National Park, offers visitors a chance to explore the park's topography through an impressive relief map and an informative 20-minute film. Designed by students of Frank Lloyd Wright, the center also serves as the park's administration headquarters and features a gift shop, free Wi-Fi, and accessible restrooms. Visitors can seek guidance from park rangers for their exploration.
Let me tell something about the Rangers of this outfit... they're amazing. We had a class trip and chartered a bus, our driver miscalculated a turn on the way back home and we got stuck in a ditch. It was cold and a storm was about to hit us. Queue Ranger Kurt and his team of astounding Park Rangers who took all of us in multiple vehicles back to the Visitor Center to await a new bus. Freakin' Heroes. Please come to Beaver Meadows and let them know how much you appreciate them and all their hard work.

The visitor center staff were incredibly helpful in explaining the new timed entry policy for the park. Be sure to check the guidelines before your visit — it’s a recent change aimed at improving the experience for everyone, and I think it’s a great idea. We arrived around 10 AM and were given a 12 PM entry time for Bear Lake, which worked out well. The staff recommended a few scenic overlook points to explore while we waited, and they turned out to be highlights of our visit — Many Parks Curve, Rainbow Curve, Bear Lake and Sprague Lake are absolutely worth checking out! Make sure to drive slowly — there’s wildlife everywhere, and it’s so rewarding to take your time and watch them in their natural habitat. The views throughout the park are breathtaking. I was truly speechless. This is definitely one of the best national parks I’ve ever visited. Highly recommended!

Highly informative and helpful rangers in the visitor center. Shout out to ranger Nick for helping us with a detailed plan based on our requirements and expectations. He gave us an amazing itinerary to drive, hike, and also encounter wildlife. We followed most of it and everything worked out great. We had timed entry for 12pm to Trail Ridge road and 5am the following day for Bear Lake corridor. Worked out really well with the weather (June 8th and June 9th).

My wife is a big fan of visitor centers and this was a good one. Based on our tour of parks in the western states, I find a visit to the centers is helpful for getting the most from being in the parks. The films are very well done and definitely worth the time.

Always a nice place to visit. No you cannot get timed entry. They sell lots of shirts but i wish they sold pants as well. The film is usually worth your time as well and they have picnic areas as well

I wish they offered more in the way of informative/museum content, like history, useful information, interactive exhibits and displays, etc. Seems more like an underwhelming gift shop disguised as a true visitors center. The architecture is pretty cool though, and they have a neat topographical map. So there's that. I would skip it unless you need the restroom.
Alex M — Google review
Great visitor center for the Rocky Mountain National Park. They were informative on the park to the different routes to drive and of any road closers. The gift shop had a lot of different items to suit anyone, adult or child. The only complaint was that the space was to small for the amount of people that they have come through there so was pretty crowded when we were there

Bird & Jim is a charming and cozy restaurant located in the mountain town of Estes Park. The eatery takes pride in its ever-changing seasonal menus that feature farm-to-table cuisine using locally sourced ingredients from farms and businesses in the area. The restaurant also offers a selection of organic, sustainable, and biodynamic wines from small wineries, as well as handcrafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients and craft beers.
Ate twice here during our stay in Estes - both times after our Rocky hikes! The place is so warm n cozy, our server was also very nice and welcoming. The food was great as well! Good vegan options. My favorite was Hallet’s Peak. The cornbread was so soft and delicious… edamame was tasty too. The pheasant soup was so comforting. So was the Jim burger! Gotta say it - My favorite restaurant in Estes!!!

Really enjoyed the food! For apps we had the bruschetta and a side of the asparagus, which was out of this world. My husband and I both had the veggie burger, one with a side of the sweet potato waffle fries and the other with the side salad. While the salad was just OK, the burgers were AWESOME - it felt like some genuine thought had gone into designing their veggie burger, and not just thrown an option on the menu just for the sake of having a vegetarian burger. The ambience was super warm and welcoming too.

Bird & Jim is always at the top of our list when we're in Estes. They are consistently some of the best food in the valley. We love to sit at the bar and chat with the staff and other guests. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. We enjoyed all three of our visits this trip. Including the always fantastic pheasant chowder! One afternoon we had a late lunch from the apps and sides menu - elk strip loin and chicken nuggets. Both were delicious. We pictured are two desserts, the strawberry shortcake and bread pudding. I also really liked the house-made potato chips and onion dip. It's not something I'd usually order but those chips were so good - the perfect thickness and crispiness. In fact, they were so good, I used them the pimento cheese dip and the tuna poke. Their happy hour (open to 4 pm) draws a crowd and it's always a good idea to get a reservation for dinner.

Last night was my first visit to Bird & Jim, and I can gladly say we WILL BE returning! The food and service were phenomenal! Here's a rundown of our experience (including beverage and food selections): For drinks, my husband ordered the Bust a Rut and I had the Manhattan, both were fantastic. For our appetizer, we ordered the Tuna Poke (photo attached...though it’s half-eaten because we were so excited to eat it that we forgot to take a photo at first) and it was honestly the best tuna poke we’ve ever had. For our shared entree, we ordered The Carnivore, which included elk striploin, filet mignon, cheddar game sausage, and broccolini. It looked so incredible that we started eating before I could even get a photo, so no photo of that amazing meal, but it was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. We ate every bite. We added a side of mac and cheese, which was also full of flavor. I believe our waitress’s name was Nina (from Argentina). She was so sweet and attentive, even during the busy hours of a Saturday night on a holiday weekend! Highly recommend Bird & Jim (and Nina!) because everything we ordered and the service was amazing. Also, considering how BUSY the restaurant was, I was very thankfully the hostess was able to seat us 30-minutes before our reservation, since we arrived a tad too early AND that Nina was so attentive while all tables were full of other patrons. So as you can tell, great experience all around and we'll definitely be returning on our next trek up the canyon from NoCo!

Fantastic meal and service. We ordered 3 carnivore plates along with the pheasant chowder, corn bread, mushrooms, and mac and cheese. The meats were juicy and cooked perfectly. It was the best tasting Elk we ever had. We also ordered cocktails which were very enjoyable. Cool atmosphere inside the restaurant and really like the open kitchen concept.

We weren't feeling really hungry, so we hit the appetizers, and they did NOT disappoint. We had great service, great food and drinks. We ordered the beef sliders, balsamic bruschetta, and smoked Pheasant chowder. Sat down at the bar and had very quick and friendly service. The locally brewed beer was great too! We highly recommend this restaurant.

We booked a reservation here and had a great time before our hike. Ordered the bowl and it was very healthy, but bacon was pretty hard. The vegetarian burger was amazing, wished the fries were more crunchy. After we finished, there was a long line up. So reservation is highly recommended. Service was excellent!

Came in for lunch with a couple of friends—I’m visiting, but they’re locals and brought me here. The food was amazing, service was solid, and the atmosphere was totally on point. We had a great view from our bar table, and I loved the cozy couches and laid-back table setup—it felt really inviting and relaxing. Even had a fun little moment with one of the bar regulars. Great vibes, good times, and seriously good food!

Visitors can explore exhibits featuring petrified wood and witness the transformation of ordinary rocks into stunning works of art. Visited this shop a few years ago. Came home with many beautiful rough rocks that I added to my collection. Been wanting to get back , but hasn't been in the cards. Found them on Facebook and found out they sell rough rock on line too. Well have put in a couple of orders ..and plan on many more! They have a great variety and they ship fast. Love my Rocks! They talk and tell you the story of time.😊

I visited their shop in Estes Park and was blown away by all of the pieces they have. I bought 8 beautiful rocks and minerals and had them shipped to my home in Indiana. I found them on the internet and was thrilled to see they have so many pieces to buy in line and ship for free. I bought 8 more. I will be coming back to this special place as seeing them in person is a treat. Love this place
Mary K — Google review
Such a rad place, so so many rocks every where you look, and honestly not too bad of prices. Obviously the amethyst and things are going to be crazy, not for us average Joe’s, but the neat rocks on the shelves are plentiful. The buckets of rocks outside is absolutely fabulous, with lots to chose from, and the option to have them shipped to your house is awesome. The staff is also very friendly, the girl who works the register is so sweet, asking where everyone is from getting to know folks. Really nice place.

This is my favorite rock shop ever and a place I visit every single time I'm in Estes. Huge variety of cool rocks spanning all price ranges and types. I also love the little duck pond and coffee shop next door which is owned by the same people. Beautiful little place to hang out.

I am an incurable Rock Hound which is not a bad thing! I have been coming to Red Rose every trip to CO since 1989 and it never disappoints. The staff is always incredibly knowledgable and helpful. I can't tell you how many amazing pieces I have bought at Red Rose and I intend to keep filling my home with their gorgeous and amazing pieces forever. I am so excited, I am headed there again at the end of September. And yes, I will be coming home with an extra heavy carry on bag on my way home... again.

A fun place to stop if you are into rocks and crystals. They have a huge selection, and it’s easy to lose track of time just looking at everything. Whether you’re into shiny polished stones or rough crystals, they’ve got it all  The best part, though? If you have kids take them out back and you can feed the ducks with food the owner provides. Definitely worth a visit.
Stephen D — Google review
Nice Collection. Very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. Quite a nice collection outside also. Need a relaxing break mid way through your rock shopping? No problem, nice trails around a pond right outside along with the coffee shop next door. Be sure to get some food (for a $1) to feed the duckies around the pond. All in all, a perfect place to be if rocks are your thing.
Bedstvieye — Google review
Nice variety of large rocks outside and smaller rocks and fossils inside. It’s located right next to coffee on the rocks which has great coffee! You can buy corn to feed the ducks at the pond.

Located in the heart of downtown Estes Park, Rock Cut Brewing Company offers a picturesque setting by the Big Thompson River, just a stone's throw away from Fun City amusement park. Founded in 2015 by college friends Tracy Goodemote and Matt Heiser, this brewery has gained a solid reputation for its diverse selection of craft beers. With 12 beers on tap, including IPAs, pilsners, sours, and porters, there's something to suit every palate.
Top notch brewery! The staff and owners are kind, caring, and knowledgeable. The space is phenomenal. They have great indoor and outside seating. The beer selection is good. The beer is great. From the lager to IPA to sour beer to red ale to stouts they are all solid. Definitely worth the stop.

I really liked Rockcut Brewing. They had a Pils, amber, brown American IPA, Hazy IPA, a lager, a fir forager, citron, double IPA, a gin-barrel-aged IPA, a whiskey barrel aged brown, and a sour. All their beers were spot on and the barrel aged were great. This place is totally chill and unassuming. Music is great, they bring in awesome food trucks, their merch is fun, the service is friendly and helpful. You should put this on your list.
Adam D — Google review
After visiting them all, this is hands-down, far-and-away, the best brewery in Estes Park. Very confused by the ratings of other breweries. If you only have one stop for craft beer, this 100% needs to be it. Atmosphere/taste of beer/service trumps all other locations. Plenty of options of beer and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Located right next to the heart of Estes park and adjacent to a cute river, and has a nice view of the mountains in the background. Ordered the Galactic Portal hazy IPA and the River Sluice sour, and both were really good. Don’t miss Rock Cut on your Estes Park trip!

Stopped here for lunch on a sunday right at opening. An impressive 2 floor brewery/restaurant. Our server was named Jesus and he was without a doubt the best server I've EVER had at a brewery and or restaurant. The beer was good (i tried 6) however my wife didnt like her first beer she ordered and Jesus replaced it right away no questions asked. No pics of the food but we had the elk burger, crab melts, and the caprase panini, all delicious. Jesus was on the ball the entire hour and was just as impressive as the food and atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time im anywhere close to Estes Park!

Ridiculous food and ridiculous prices. Who gives like 10 fries and 10 beans for $8 each😭. The fries were definitely good though. We got several bunch of items and everything sucked. Even for American standards, the food was bland. No offense but I could cook better and I don’t even know how to turn on the stove. The pizza was atrocious and Italy would perhaps cease all diplomatic relations with the US if they knew how pizza is being made here.
Sai M — Google review
Very sad this brewery has gone downhill. From the moment we walked in it was very clear the customer did not matter. The person pouring our drinks was very unhelpful and gruff when we asked for recommendations. The beer was average as well. The saving grace was the newer manager comping our drinks because of problems with the payment system.
Caleb H — Google review
We got in super quick, our waiter Pranit gave us excellent service, and the food was amazing! I got the Altitude Burger and my wife got the Caprese Panini with chicken! We would definitely get them again! I also got a flight of beers including the blueberry, the Pilsner, porter, and stout. The blueberry is definitely drinkable & delicious. And the porter is one of the best I’ve tried in a while! To top it all off, we got the Mascarpone cake which is big enough for two people!

Not sure why this brewery only has a 3.5. Who cares because we can have it all to ourselves! 5***** all the way!!! The beer was incredible. From the minute you are welcomed with free tastings and a game of pool to the minute you sit down, they hospitality was generous and lovely. The beers are so delicious. I did a flight which is easily the best way to go because all of them are so good, especially the gold and malt and red ale. Eating at the Hive was outstanding. I had their special bison short rib. Mouthwatering. They were also great with the kids. Would 100% be back. Topped other brewpubs during our stay in Colorado.

Had dinner here twice while on vacation in August. Food was great, service was fast and friendly, and it was very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We had the Bison Bolognese, and liked it so much we came back a second time before leaving. Food was all great, I'm not a beer drinker but my husband had a flight and liked what he was drinking. Would recommend and look forward to stopping in again the next time we make it back to Estes Park. Thanks!

Estes Park Brewery is a fine little brewery. It's a 2 story brewery with free tastings of their standard beers and their gift shop on the bottom floor. Upstairs is the restaurant and bar that serves their seasonal beers. On my stop, they had: porter, stout, red, rasberry wheat, blueberry wheat, lager, gold, an ale, and some others. I think the beers were all okay and better than your major brands. The food looked okay but like what I expect at a ski lodge. The service was fine but it did not feel like this was a place to sit and talk about their beers and what they are doing next. Totally worth going here and better than eating/drinking at a chain.

Great place for low prices on shirts, socks, hats, gifts etc. Bought several things here. Staff was super awesome and nice. Definitely would go back here as the prices are pretty good compared to other stuff on downtown.

We stopped in here today, and we are so glad we did. Twice, actually as I just had to go back for another shirt. The store was clean, organized, with a great selection and the best prices we could find on nice t-shirts and sweatshirts; including embroidered shirts. The staff we interacted with were also very friendly and helpful regarding the store and local scene. On top of this, we loved the Christian music that was playing as well as the the free Bibles they were giving out.

We vacationed for 3 days in Estes Park. A beautiful place! We walked their beautiful downtown and stopped in many stores. Brownfields was hands down the best prices for any type of souvenirs or gear that you want! Great selection of t-shirts and much more. Not only did they have the best prices but their staff was absolutely the best! They were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the gentleman worker about advice on what trails would be best for my family. He took the time to explain and advise us on what trails would be best! The store was busy and yet he made the time to listen to us and answer all of our questions. He even gave us a cheat sheet to use for hikes and restaurants!! Hard to find stores and people like this anymore. It was noticed by my family from Kansas. THANK YOU!

Hands down the best store you'll find in Estes Park. The owner and the staff are top notch, the merchandise is awesome with so many choices, and the prices can't be beat. This is a must when visiting Estes Park.

Visited Brownfield's on a recent vacation to Colorado. Even though we didn't purchase anything, I wanted to leave a review because of how helpful Jim was. We were visiting from NC and looking to spend the day hiking in RMNP. There was a sign outside that said to come in if you needed advice on hiking so that is what we did. Jim went above and beyond to help us out with a plan for the day. He even laughed when I told him we were used to hiking in the NC mountains to which he replied with a laugh "You don't have mountains in NC" I also found that funny once our hike was over. Jim spent his time walking us through what would be best for us and asked a lot of questions to help us come up with a plan. Without him, we would have ended up wandering around the park without knowing where to go. Thank you Jim for your help and for being a part of our awesome day in RMNP!

By far this is the best gift shop in town. Best prices for quality items. While other shops sell cheaply made $20-30 t-shirts here you’ll find them for $10-20 at a better quality. For those that still send post cards you’ll find them here 5 for $1 and the image quality of them are superior to other places as well. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend coming to this place first before you start your walk in downtown.

When we went to CO,I was looking for a nice outdoor jacket and those type of stores are everywhere. I spent days looking for what I wanted and after spending the day in Estes Park,we stopped in here. It was great timing because they were having a big clearance sale so they had the top floor full of gear and the bottom floor was packed with all kinds of clothing, coats, jackets, etc. I did find a nice jacket that was half off,The North Face (I still love this jacket). I would recommend this store if you are looking for any type of gear for hiking, camping, fishing, etc. Its amazing and the employees were great.

A couple weeks ago we rented the Freedom Chair for my mom. It was awesome! We pushed her all around Estes Park shops and the Elk Festival. It did great on all terrain including the grass, dirt, and hills! The next day we went to Rocky and pushed her on the Alluvial Fan trail, saw the waterfall. We drove up Trail Ridge Road getting out to see the overlooks on the way, hiked around Bear Lake (has some areas on the trail not wheel chair accessible) and Sprauge lake. Our last day in Estes Park we walked around Estes Lake and all the way into town past the visitor center and along the river walk to eat at Egg of Estes. None of this would’ve been possible without the Freedom Chair. Thank you SO much for offering these chairs to people!! Everyone at the shop I talked to was very nice and helpful. They even have a paper of all the accesible hikes in Rocky and some details about each. We had a Jeep Grand Cherokee rental car and it fit perfectly in the back with half of the middle seat put down. It was super easy once we got the hang of it to take the wheels and handles off!

The customer service I received prior to our visit was wonderful. I was impressed with how polite, kind, and accommodating everyone was. We rented three mountain bikes and an e-bike. We wanted to ride around Lake Estes after a long road trip. The bikes were set up for us, we were fitted with helmets, and we were given a little time cushion so I could pay and join my family. We had a great experience biking around the lake. An hour was plenty of time and my husband loved the e-bike so much, he couldn’t stop smiling. The elk we saw in the lake were a cool bonus. There were calves with their mamas and they were adorable. They were at a safe distance so we could admire them and take pictures. Hands down I would recommend this shop! Thank you for making our first experience in Estes Park a fun one!

Adam, one of the guys working there, was super friendly and full of awesome local tips. Couldn’t be happier—we had an amazing time thanks to his advice! Oh, and the backpack? It’s alright too.

In addition to their delicious menu items, Poppy's also offers decadent appetizers like fries topped with pork green chile and beer cheese dip.
We really enjoyed our lunch at Poppy's Pizza and Grill in Estes Park. We have been before and it was the same. The food was great but the restaurant was very busy. We would have loved to sit on the patio outside next to the river but at peak times during the summer, we were lucky just to get a table. We didn't have to wait long for a table (they told us 15 minutes but we were seated in 5). Service was good and the food came out fast. We ordered pizzas, a salad (which was huge), a burger and ice teas. We enjoyed it all. I would recommend Poppy's Pizza and Grill for families looking for lunch in Estes Park.

I’ve been visiting estes park for about 8 years now and somehow just ate at Poppy’s for the first time. I can’t believe I’ve never eaten here before, it was amazing! We sat in the outside seating area and the view was beautiful. We were able to people-watch while we ate which was entertaining lol. We ordered the fried cheddar chunks, a pizza, vegan chili, caesar salad, and an american burger. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered! The service was amazing, it was pretty busy and our waitress was still very attentive and checked on us often. They definitely have something for everyone, I’m vegetarian and they have a pretty big selection which is rare!

Nice area with outdoor seating near a stream. The food was good. I had a personal pizza, and it was a decent meal, not top 10 but good. Service was busy so they were doing their best. The atmosphere was nice, I mean it's estes and there was a small river running next to the seating. I would say it's a good stop for a lunch while enjoying the town.

real great staff, got my family in right before closing and were really patient with us as my family got there late. However the pizza wasn’t that great. Crust wasn’t really cooked through all the way, and pizza was loaded with a bit too much cheese for my liking. And this was on a large $40 pizza mind you- a steep price tag. not great, not awful.

Fantastic service and equally tasty pizza. I was really impressed – we had a party of 20 people and they were able to see us all for lunch right away. They did not make us feel unwelcome, even though we were a large group and the service was fast and attentive. They kept our glasses filled, and they did a really nice job. The food was just what we wanted. This is a beautiful restaurant location right along the river and it has an incredible outdoor patio, which I would highly recommend if you can sit out there. Five stars!

I love the barbecue sauce it was so good. It made me want to ask if they sell it. If you’re a Italian meat fan, the Straziante is very good. The crust is definitely for people who like a crunch.

The food was okay, but not my favorite place to get pizza in Estes because they put the pepperoni under the cheese instead of on top. The service here is fabulous though, and it’s a great, easy to access location.

Wife and I stopped after a full morning of hiking in RMNP for coffee and lunch. Parking is maybe 15 spots and it was full when we got here. We parked next door and walked over. Atmosphere is very cool inside. Lots of natural light and wood, as you might expect for the area. Team was friendly, helpful, and service was pretty fast. We got a golden milk latte, peach pie latte, fig pizza, and a veggie wrap. Coffee was smooth with good flavor, definitely enjoyed both drinks. Pizza was really excellent. Great mixture of flavors on a perfect thin crust. Veggie wrap surprised me and was also excellent. Overall, no complaints. This was a great stop and we will be back!

Having a delicious latte is our daily ritual, even when we travel, so we were delighted to discover Bird's Nest on our recent visit to Estes Park. Their baked goods are made on location, and they also serve pizza, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, juices, and what I came for, espresso beverages. Grace did a great job on all 6 of our drinks, and I enjoyed the cherry walnut biscotti which dunked nicely in my latte. They use beans from OZO COFFEE ROASTERS in Boulder and sell them in their shop. I liked it so much, I bought a bag to bring home. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and a large room upstairs with comfortable seating and a great view. The upstairs room is available for private functions as it has plenty of seating, a bar, and two bathrooms. When we figure out how we can live in Estes Park, we'll be regulars at Bird's Nest. Try this place if you haven't already. You'll be glad you did.

Pizza is excellent quality ingredients & you can tell. Perfectly baked & crisp crust like a cracker. Pepperoni are not strong. Cheese is minimal Excellent!!! Parking is limited. If your in an RV you would have to find alternative parking

Ordered a pizza to go - it was disappointing. It wasn’t busy when we picked up, the girl who helped was very nice but in regards to the actual pizza it was a let down. We ordered a 12 inch, mozzarella & pepperoni pizza. When we got home there was almost no pepperoni and the bottom was burnt but the dough was still soft to the point where the toppings were sliding off. (They rushed cooking it) We were already home so tried to keep an open mind but it was not worth $19. I wouldn’t order it again at all.

Love it ! $$$but great food. View was great. Down side was only one barista, it was a Monday and after a city event. She was happy friends and kept all orders coming even with a huge line. Would definitely try the pizza next time.

To call the baked goods divine is an understatement! The almond and pumpkin croissants were flaky and flavorful. The cinnamon rolls are made with croissant-style dough and not overly sweet (my new favorite for sure). We tried a couple muffins and they were moist and delicious (raspberry pistachio rocks!). The family enjoyed the giant cookies too. Definitely coming here again!! Kudos to the pastry chef!
Skylar J — Google review
Pastries are unbelievable! Truly the best almond croissant in Colorado. Actually unbelievably good. Aside from the delicious pastries, the vibes are unbelievable. So pretty inside with the best mountain view ever. Upstairs is so cute and main level is similarly just so cute. I love this pastry shop and the burritos are also good. Didn’t try coffee. But I can imagine it is probably good.
Vittoria Q — Google review
The space is beautiful with the view of the mountain. Our food, however was extremely disappointing. At $16 and $19, I was hoping for a little more flavor if not portion. These both tasted like they were thrown together hastily. I wouldn’t get the sandwich here next time.

Italian restaurant
Sweet Basilico Cafe is a sprawling Italian restaurant located in a riverside setting, offering a wide selection of Italian dishes including pasta, pizzas, brunch options, and large desserts. It is known for its delectable handmade Italian delicacies that are perfect for various occasions such as events, celebrations, reunions, and conferences.
It is usually super busy, I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere is adorable, and the servers are bubbly and friendly. You can watch your food being prepared, and it comes out hot and fresh pretty soon after you order. I got the mushroom ravioli and it was the highlight of our dinner. Also got an Italian pizza to share and the Sicilian salad which were both yum!

Tucked away in a cozy corner of Estes Park, Sweet Basilico offers a welcoming Italian dining experience that’s both satisfying and memorable. On my recent visit, I ordered the angel hair pasta with house-made Alfredo sauce, asparagus, tomato, and bay shrimp—a recommendation from my young server—paired with a glass of red sangria (my personal favorite). It did not disappoint! The Alfredo sauce was rich and creamy without being overly heavy, perfectly coating the delicate angel hair. Fresh asparagus and sweet, ripe tomatoes added a vibrant contrast, while the bay shrimp brought a gentle brininess that tied everything together beautifully. The portion was generous without being overwhelming, and each element tasted freshly prepared. The vibe at Sweet Basilico is upbeat and cheerful. The staff was friendly and attentive, exchanging laughter and smiles as they worked. One highlight of the evening was chatting with the owner, who exuded genuine warmth and kindness. Seated at the mini bar, I also had the chance to interact with his son, Brendon, who was cooking alongside two seasoned and equally friendly chefs. Brendon clearly takes pride in ensuring guests enjoy their dining experience. What stood out most was the steady stream of satisfied customers stopping to personally thank the owners on their way out—a testament to the consistently positive experience this restaurant delivers. Sweet Basilico has quickly become my "mandatory stop" whenever I visit Estes Park. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for comforting Italian cuisine served with heart.

The service was pretty on par, friendly. I would, however, recommend going when the amusement park next door is not open because that would be super loud and annoying to eat right there. The garlic bread is pretty basic. There was a piece of pepperoni in the antipasto salad...we asked for no meat. The eggplant parmesana was pretty delicious; portions are pretty okay.

It was amazing experience having dinner at Sweet Basilico! The food and service were excellent! I have never eaten anything better than this. The atmosphere made me feel as if I am really in Italy sipping my Malbec wine. And also the host, I believe her name was Fanija was so beautiful, polite and kind (although she didn’t refill our coke when we asked her, but it’s okay she was busy)

We found this place looking for a pasta place after a hard day at the RMNP. The pasta was delicious, you could see how they prepared it right there. We ordered a Tiramisu (without much hope, they are usually industrial and of poor quality), what a surprise it was delicious, we hadn't eaten one like this for a long time. We didn't ask for another one to follow the diet a little... but we didn't lack a desire!

I was pleasantly surprised. My wife likes Italian food, I typically don’t. I lean toward Asian/Indian food. It was her turn to pick. I chose the Garlic Cheesy Bread & a Cesar Salad to start. Both were really good. I went on a long ride on spin bike before lunch, so I was prepared for the carbs. For main course I chose the Seafood Alfredo and it was fire 🔥 It was full of shrimp and scallops! Plus the Alfredo with Angel Hair pasta was very very good.

Brought our family over after some hiking at RMNP, so we were hungry. Every meal was delicious and well portioned, from pizza and calzone to meatball and spaghetti classics. The service was top notch! Not only was our waitress one of the most friendly and attentive people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, but the staff even helped clean my sister-in-law's baby food containers when we went to the bathroom to do it ourselves. Loved coming here and enjoying a good meal, a truly excellent experience.

We ordered the House Specisl pizza. Was delicious. Great atmosphere, great service. Have been dining there since 2020. Never disappoints. Price was $26 for med. Pizza, but we couldn't eat it all. Worth the money. We also had mozzarella cheese sticks. The crust and marinara sauce made them Delicious 😋

Chophouse restaurant
Hunters Chop House is a casual steakhouse with a hunting-lodge-style ambiance, offering hand-cut beef aged in-house, chops, and unique wild game dishes. The restaurant also features an impressive whiskey list, wine, cocktails, and some unique game entrees. Located near downtown and Lake Estes, it's popular among locals for its consistently good food. The rustic and cozy bar adds to the casual hunting lodge vibes where patrons can enjoy Colorado whisky flights and wild game brats samplers.
We did an anniversary dinner early before leaving Colorado. After a wonderful 2-week trip I was determined to get some elk and I was glad I waited! This was the best meal I had in a long time. I highly recommend the elk chops and my husband had the filet. They were both fantastic! Service was also wonderful and we even got a anniversary dessert on the house! It was a fantastic raspberry donut cheesecake!

Great dining experience with phenomenal food. Mindy was an awesome server. We had the French Onion Soup to start, Elk Chops with Shrimp, and the Bison Strip Oscar Style. All amazing!
Heather K — Google review
Best dinner I’ve had in a while, literally cleaned the plates. We had the filet mignon with green beans and mashed potatoes & elk chops with shrimp and green beans. The donut holes and chocolate mousse were really good as well. Seems to be more reservation based, but we were seated within 30 minutes without a reservation. If we’re ever back in the area we will definitely be returning!

Best meal we had in Estes Park, by far! We had Elk chops and the Bison New York Strip. Creme brulee for dessert and it was excellent!

We had an amazing dinner at Hunter’s Chop House in Estes Park, Colorado! Even though the French 75 wasn’t on the menu, they made it perfectly, complete with a cherry on the bottom, which was such a delightful touch. The Hunter’s Old Fashioned was wonderfully smooth. The wild game brat sampler, recommended by the wonderful waitress Kathy, allowed us to try boar, pheasant, elk, and buffalo, and the elk and buffalo were especially fantastic! The braised lamb shank with parmesan mashed potatoes and green beans was so tender it fell right off the bone, and the salmon with an orange glaze was wonderfully tender and flavorful. We ended the meal with the chocolate mousse and donut holes—light, airy, and the perfect sweet finish. The ambiance, with its cozy atmosphere and great music, along with the friendly and attentive service, makes this place a definite must-visit in Estes Park!

The speed, quality, service, and accommodating us at an earlier time than our reservations was what makes this restaurant a 5 star and worthy of a visit. We had the appetizer, Wild Game Brats Sampler, that set the stage for a wonderful meal. The brats were made from boar, elk, bison, and pheasant. It had flatbread crackers, different cheeses, and a raspberry chipotle sauce. We both went with the filet mignon because I had read reviews, and it was worthy of trying. Whatever your cooking preference is, go with it because it was cooked as it should be. I ordered mine medium rare, and it cut like butter! My husband was afraid that would medium rare that it would be too bloody, but it wasn't. The vibe was casual and the staff polite, wanting to please. Don't let the exterior fool you. This place isn't pretentious. Stop by this gem because it was worthy of your time and money. Your stomach will thank you.

Dined July 4, 2025 Hunters Chophouse – A Dinner Worth the Fireworks (Literally) If you’re anywhere near Estes Park, whether you’re a local or just lucky enough to be visiting, do not miss dinner at Hunters Chophouse. I promise, this is one of those places that turns a meal into a memory. We had the pleasure of dining here on July 4th, and it ended up being one of the best nights of our entire trip. From the second we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The smells coming out of that kitchen were incredible! Bishwa, our host, was a total standout. He was kind, engaging, and clearly passionate about making guests feel welcome. He seated us on the outdoor patio, which is shaded, lined with flower barrels, and absolutely perfect for dining al fresco. He made sure we had one of the best seats for watching the fireworks later that night (seriously, the best view). He stopped by several times to check in, share local stories, and even offered to bring over the sommelier when we mentioned switching from cocktails to wine. His energy really set the tone for the whole night. Victoria, the sommelier, was amazing. So passionate and knowledgeable about wine!. She helped us pick a wine we fell in love with: the 2019 Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. Rich, velvety, just a touch of spice… it was a perfect match for our steaks. Fun fact? Caravan is produced by Darioush Winery, known for its bold, Bordeaux-style reds and hospitality rooted in Persian culture. Now I’ve added their tasting room to my Napa bucket list! And yes, I will be ordering a case of Caravan! No judging, please! Our waitress Yana was equally wonderful. She was warm, professional, and totally in sync with the relaxed-yet-elevated vibe of the place. She made great suggestions and made sure we never felt rushed, even as the restaurant got busier. We also got a chance to say hi to Sujib, one of the owners who we’d met earlier at Park Tavern (Hunters’ sister restaurant). Even while working a busy holiday dinner, he took time to ask how we were enjoying our meal. It says a lot about leadership when owners are visible and genuinely care. And what a treat to see Ivana again! Our favorite hostess from Park Tavern. She not only helped us secure our reservation at Hunters but made a point to stop by to say hi! She remembered us and our stories, and absolutely made us feel like regulars. That kind of service is rare and definitely unforgettable. Now, let’s talk food. My girlfriend ordered the ribeye, grilled to medium and tender enough to melt in your mouth. She paired it with a loaded baked potato and crisp broccolini and loved every bite. Her husband had the Bison Oscar...bison NY strip, lump crab, dill hollandaise, capers, barley risotto, and seasonal veggies. It was a showstopper. He literally said he’d come back just to have that exact meal again. My husband and I both went for the filet mignon with a red wine demi-glace that was so good I honestly considered licking the plate. No leftovers. Not a single bite. Perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and tender enough to make me sigh. I am still thinking about that filet this morning! We sat on that beautiful patio, sipping incredible wine, laughing with fabulous friends, and watching the fireworks light up the sky. It felt like the perfect ending to a perfect day and a perfect vacation! Hunters Chophouse, thank you. You gave us a night we’ll be talking about for a long time. We’ll definitely be back...hopefully for fall colors and another round of the filet, the ribeye and the bison Oscar!
