Acapulco in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Acapulco, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Acapulco draws visitors with its sweeping bay, golden beaches, and warm Pacific waters ideal for swimming and water sports. The city is famous for the La Quebrada cliff divers, who perform high-risk jumps into a narrow rocky inlet. Its nightlife, seaside bars, and open-air restaurants give the resort a lively atmosphere, especially along the Costera Miguel Alemán. Historic sites like the 17th-century Fort of San Diego add a cultural dimension to a primarily sun-and-sea getaway.
With favorites like Parque Papagayo, Campomar, and Galerías Acapulco, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Burger King and Campomar so you can get the best taste of Acapulco while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Nice place close to the Hotel Ritz. You can find easyly those things that you need for your vacation. I used the internet to work for a little bit and the personal attention provided by the owner of the the business was quite good. You'll find the regular shops for coffee or clothes, as well as beach items to enjoy your time close to the beach.

Mexican restaurant
El Zorrito is a casual eatery with simple plastic tables and chairs, but it's the go-to spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant offers a friendly and attentive atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy complimentary tortilla chips and dips while people-watching. Locals love this place too. The menu features classic Mexican dishes like chicken tostadas, stuffed peppers, and enchiladas in guajillo chili salsa.
Best pozole we have ever had. So good we went twice while on our trip. It was also one of the few places I could find that sells pozole everyday and not just on Thursdays. Can't wait to go back
Juan P — Google review
Delicious food, and the pozole special was excellent! Our service was fast, the atmosphere was lively but not too overstimulating and we sat with a view of the street
Hannah — Google review
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Acapulco. Open to the road and all the sights and sounds. Great food in a delightful local atmosphere.
Ian C — Google review
I’m not sure why this place has 3 stars or why people are complaining about the food being tasteless. I came with my family 5X to this place while in Acapulco and received delicious food as well as amazing customer service. If the food wasn’t good I don’t think we would have came here 5X lol. The servers are so attentive, when we arrive we are seated very quickly and asked for our drinks. We usually order the mariscos cocktail, pozole, fish fillet, and hamburger. Not sure what people are ordering but those options never miss for us. The food comes very quickly and the wait staff always knows what we need without asking.

Ecological park
Park
Parque Papagayo, located along the bustling Avenida Costera Miguel Aleman in Acapulco, serves as a vibrant green oasis amidst the urban landscape. Spanning 22 hectares, this park features three picturesque artificial lakes surrounded by lush tropical flora and is home to various exotic animals. Known also as Parque Ignacio Manuel Altamirano, it’s a favorite spot for families and young visitors alike.
This was an amazing park to go to before hurricane Otis. I loved the animals that you could see in the park, such as, iguanas, turtles, ducks, monkeys and much more. There was a pool for children to swim in as well and a nice little train for guest to ride on throughout the park too. I hope it's rebuilt soon for future tourists to see.
Dejsha B — Google review
This was the only place I enjoyed in Acapulco. We were able to see the cliff diver's and we were treated to some dancing showcasing the history of Mexico.
Gabriele K — Google review
The park renovations look amazing! You can find plenty to do here. Public swimming pool is about 15 pesos ($1 USD). They have a few monkeys you can see. Have to pay 5 pesos to use the bathroom there.

Another beautiful place. I've been coming here almost daily. To play football, run, explore, workout. Beautiful scenery too.

The food was great, it was not crowded at all.
M A — Google review
The restaurant offers a solid selection, with a focus on shrimp-oriented dishes. There are also a few promotions on drinks, which is a nice touch. While the food and desserts are tasty and fairly priced, the service could use some improvement. You may need to ask for information yourself, as the wait for attention can be a bit longer than expected. Overall, a good experience for the food, though service could be more attentive.

Rude servers, and orders Al cart and they just took the food from the buffé and put it on a plate. Looked nothing like it did on the menu. And it was bad so we got sick, wouldn’t recommend it for anyone!

If you're in the mood for fresh seafood, El Amigo Miguel is the place to go. The menu features everything from lobster to shrimp al ajillo (with garlic butter) and ceviche, all prepared by skilled chefs. There's also grilled lobster and various other seafood dishes on offer. In addition, they do serve alcohol so don't miss out on some delicious margaritas!
Lemonade is nice and cold and tart! Goes v well with the mojarra. It's an open air place, so no AC, but! The food is delicious

Food isn’t great but I had a Huachinango a la Talla and it was tasty and well-cooked. Less sauce would be better. Honestly, Tortillas suck! So the Huachinango wasn’t that enjoyable without good tortillas. There was no sopa de mariscos which would have been my first option.
Maya S — Google review
Very disappointed. The food was bad, but very expensive. They are supposed to specialize in seafood but really the food is like poor quality street food. I had a seafood soup but it had shrimps heads and shells and things that cannot be eaten. I don't know why so many locals eat here. The service was also quite poor. I will be sure Not to come back here.
Seth E — Google review
Straight forward local seafood place. My wife and I both had suggestions from our waiter. One was filleted local fish. The other was fish on the bone with a little spicy seasoning. Excellent.

I came with friends and shared an outstanding beachside meal. We shared an outstanding guacamole appetizer. Next we each had our own dishes -- a delicious mixed ceviche, a tasty shrimp brochette and an amazing Red Snapper plate. Hot dishes came with Mexican rice and salad. Drinks here were lovely. Portions were large; service was fine; atmosphere was great and the prices were low. All of us ate for about $70USD including drinks and tip. I highly recommend dining here.

The restaurant Carmenère Acapulco Restaurante is small but it has a great selection of wines and international dishes. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is cozy. The food was fantastic, especially the wine. We had a great time there and would definitely recommend it to others.
This place is hands down one of the Best in Acapulco!! You will love it the owner and staff are amazing! The food and the service were very top notch. We loved it. Celebrated our 11 yr anniversary and our first trip to Acapulco. We will be back to Acapulco soon as well at here!
Teddy H — Google review
The manager’s welcome to this unassuming little place on the main was very friendly and ensuring. We shared the fried calamari and the salmon carpaccio to start, which were copious and tasty. We each had the prime rib which was extremely disappointing, from receiving the ordered temperatures mixed (we later had to figure out who had who’s). The horseradish sauce, and the creamy spinach side were tasty and well executed but the asparagus, which were listed on the menu as a side) were missing. We voiced our concerns to the server and the manager came and talked to us. The waiter interrupted the conversation twice in a rude manner. We weren’t offered anything to make up for the terrible 400$ dishes we received. Manager’s excuse was that they had a very busy night which is never a good excuse in a good restaurant. We wish they’d take more accountability for their product, particularly considering their price range. A very disappointing experience...

Normally this is our five star restraint. Wednesday the 12 th of February we had our large dinner there. The owner was not there and the service was awe full. We waited 2 hours and 39 minutes for our meal. Drink orders took between 30 to 60 minutes. The food was terrible. There were 16 of us and we made reservation 3 weeks in advance. They were not prepared for us. I received my food 15 minutes later than those who waited 2 2/2 hours. This is a restaurant that each couple in our group went to at least once a week We will never return again. I feel so bad that this happened to a loyal group of customers.
