This was my second visit to Himalayan Yog Ashram, and coming back truly felt like coming home.
Guruji Rām is a living expression of the yogic path; deeply rooted in tradition, yet radiating the joy of life. Kapil’s classes were an absolute gift; his mantra chanting was phenomenal, his voice carrying a soothing, heart-opening vibration that will stay with me forever. Teju is such a humble, beautiful teacher, overflowing with wisdom and always ready to share with such grace. Sagar, always smiling and joking, always uplifting everyone, brought so much joy and laughter to the ashram space. And Shaym is a wonderful human, always offering a helping hand and a welcoming smile!
The food is wholesome, delicious, and abundant, with chai that is simply to die for. The rooms are clean and comfortable, filtered water is always available, and every detail is lovingly cared for.
If you’re looking for the true meaning of yoga, this is the place. It’s not a westernised version of yoga, but an authentic sanctuary where the essence of the tradition is preserved and shared as it was meant to be; far beyond āsana. The teachers here are deeply dedicated to keeping the roots and spirit of yoga alive, just as it was intended to be passed down.
They also offer wonderful treatments, as I stayed for the Yoga and Anti-streas Retreat (for 11 days), I had some amazing treatments with Kiran. She knew what my body needed without even having to tell her. She is very intuitive. My lower back pain and knee pain was tended to so carefully that the pain was significantly reduced.
Despite Topovan becoming increasingly commercialised, my heart broke to see rice fields being torn up for endless cafes and guesthouses, Himalayan Yog Ashram remains a pure and sacred space, untouched in its dedication to yoga in its truest form.
Deepest gratitude to the ashram family, and Guruji Rām, I won’t wait another 10 years before returning this time; this place is too precious.
Hari Om Tat Sat. 🙏🏽❤️🔥🌹
