You'd have no idea you were right by a major roadway! We started with the Spicy Margarita and Hibiscus Margarita. Sometimes you can't taste the spice in spicy drinks, but you could definitely taste the jalapeno and it was GOOD! The Hibiscus Margarita was equally refreshing but with sweet notes. The kids opted for hotdogs with rice and a hibiscus drink. They didn't care for the aftertaste that the hibiscus drink had, but I loved it! Both gobbled up the hotdog and rice. Hubby had a burrito with carnita meat and a side of salsa Verde. The burrito was a perfect balance of creamy, meaty goodness in a crispy tortilla wrap. The salsa Verde was tangy with a slow burn spice that was SO GOOD! He also had the street corn off the cob. It was fresh and delicious! I had 2 tacos with rice and black beans. The rice had a nice mild flavor and the beans were cooked with cilantro and carried more flavor than I expected. The. Baja Taco with Mahi was not my favorite and I wouldn't order it again. The fish tasted like an overdone tiny fish stick and the other flavors weren't strong enough to hide it. The sauce was sweet, which I did like, but could've used more of. The Kimchi Beef was loaded with flavor and a little spice and I would absolutely get it again!! There were several chunks of steak. All in all, we'd definitely come again, but maybe at happy hour. The prices for what you got were a little high, ok, maybe a lot high.

We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, Althea, who took the best care of us. For apps, we ordered the street corn queso, crispy brussel sprouts and crab crake bites. Our server greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. I went with a Jalapeño Margarita, which was delicious. We ordered the Triple Dipper, which was salsa, guacamole, and queso. It was very good but really could’ve had more chips. And the menu showed a charge for extra chips, which is a disappointment. I ordered the Baja Fish tacos, and while the flavors were good, the piece of fish was pretty small. The rice and beans had little to no seasoning at all. Zia Taqueria was not busy on Sunday night and we kinda enjoy that. I had their burrito special with spicy carnitas, sliced jalapeños, black beans and rice and crema sauce. It was so good! Shells were stale to the point where it was inedible and the manager on duty told us that is how a hard taco is supposed to be. on our quesadillas, we both got chicken and the chicken was saturated in Grease making the tortilla shell fall apart, and it had some kind of funky taste to it. The rice and beans were phenomenal. I love them. We also ordered a birria pizza and it was really good. The people I was with could only eat half of the chicken quesadilla before feeling nauseous and pale faced. when we brought it to the servers attention, telling him we didn’t eat nor enjoy what BITES we ate he told us we could only have 10% off of our whole check. we then asked for a manager, she said the same thing. walked off and gossiped with the whole crew who had been sitting down at a table near us. they all started staring and whispering. she came back saying that she could take off one combo because it was clear that there was only one bite taken out and for the other combo since there was more eaten off of the plate that she could not take that off of the receipt. we were willing to pay for what we ate but they were disrespectful and demanded we pay for everything because we ordered it. my advice to you is make sure you order something you know you’ll like because they will not take it off your receipt if you end up not liking it and I’ve only taken one bite out of it. but to each their own do what you makes you happy.

We were actually on our way there but couldn’t wait in the hour-plus line with our little ones, so we decided to stop here instead. Rancho Lewis has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful décor, even though the area around it is currently under construction. The restaurant was packed, but the wait time wasn’t long, which was great. My wedge salad with steak protein was just okay — nothing special this time. The biggest disappointment was the very limited kids’ menu. The only options were a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, or chicken tenders. With two kids who are gluten-free, what they really wanted was a simple beef and cheese taco, which unfortunately wasn’t available unless we ordered a $22 steak taco off the main menu. Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, and I’ll give it another try down the road. We noticed first that the waiters were not seen almost at all during our visit and we spent more time waiting for our server than actually eating or drinking. Then came our entrees. I ordered the old fashioned tacos with chicken, I was extremely disappointed to find that all taco shells were STALE, the chicken was mushy and unseasoned whatsoever, and the whole plate was barley lukewarm and the food had a film I. Jt as though it had been sitting for awhile. I ate half of the first taco, motioned my boyfriend to try the second half to get his opinion, and we came to the conclusion that we would alert the waiter to the issue and get it taken off the bill since it would remain uneaten. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our waiter to come back to ask for the check which was far too long in my opinion since the resturaunt had barely any patrons dining at that time. And when he came to the table I began to tell him about my food and how I would not need a to go box as I was not eating it. He cut me off in the middle of my sentence and stated “we know, we’re actually changing the menu to something different but thank you for your feedback” as he walked away. I was truly flabbergasted. Not only did he barley wait on us, he cut me off while I tried to tell him the dish was terrible, but also had the gall to admit that the resturaunt knew the dish was bad and that my complaints (or those he heard before he cut me off) were already preciously recognized, but that the were fine SERVING BAD FOOD!!? That is ridiculous and completely unacceptable for an establishment to know that their product is bad but still serve it to an unknowing customer and make them pay for food that was not eaten. Don’t waste your time, money, or patience here. I’m going back to my local taco truck from now on

Unfortunately there wasn't a single component of our dining experience they got right. I hope some of it was opening week jitters. Charleston needs more places like this, but I fear, unless they make some major changes, we won't be back. To start with, they had a bouncer at the patio entrance. I would have minded this but they had bad communication between the bouncer and the waiters. When we were told we had a table, there was no guidance around the long path to the door, and the waiter wasn't ready for us. As a matter of fact, he was more interested in greeting his friends who entered its behind us. The decor was great, but the music was WAY too loud. The margaritas were terrible. It was a traditional spirit forward version, which would have been great, but the tequila and triple sec used were lacking in flavor, and I don't believe they used any simple syrup in their mix. It was harsh and unpleasant to drink. The food was overpriced for what you got, and was trying way to hard to be "different." The menu is often misleading, for example the chips and salsa was really chips with a drizzle of hot sauce and cheese over the top. You can get the similar cuisine for less and much better prepared down the street at Mineros. To top it off we had terrible service start to finish. I really hope they make some changes, as I wouldn't mind giving them another chance; however, the pretentious vibe leads me to believe they think they've done something right.

They have multiple bars. Rooftop was closed during the day on a Friday but sat at the bar instead. The bartender was great and conversational. The chips and guac were just average, as well as the margaritas. The tacos were delicious. I tried a crispy avocado and firecracker shrimp taco which were both delicious. I would definitely come back for a quick bite off the beach but would likely just stick to tacos.

Many items are homemade! I ordered the pickles for starters, and wow, they're full of flavors - sour, salty, and heat! They know how to pickle! Upon arrival we had to wait to be seated by the hostess who was talking to another employee & even when she saw us, she continued her conversation. The salsa for the chips was terrible & the server didn’t even bother to check on us until we were almost done with our meals. The best part of this experience was the guy who was cleaning the tables. My partner got the tomato bisque soup w/ grilled cheese and while it’s such a simple option- it was perfect and exactly what she needed to warm her up a bit. The soup was creamy and rich and the grilled cheese was crust less and had a good cheese pull. My only complaint would be that the grilled cheese could have been a little bigger. I ordered the brussel sprouts which were great. They were nice and crispy and flavorful. One of my friends ordered the baked oysters- my issue with this dish is that it only came w/ 3 and they weren’t that big- also, I never understood why restaurants don’t do appetizers like that in even numbers. The oysters were cooked perfectly and tasted great and they had a good creaminess from the cheese. The MVP of the night was the bone marrow- I had never had it before and was very hesitant to try it…until I saw it. I tried it and it was amazing! So good in fact that we ordered a 2nd order. The bone marrow was like a rich butter and the meat (I think was brisket?) that topped it was amazing as well- it was sweet and savory. We had 3 old fashioned cocktails and an espresso martini w/ an added shot of baileys which was fantastic! We’ll be back again for sure!

We came to Charleston for our anniversary/babymoon and this restaurant was the top of our must do list. We had an early dinner reservation and were seated right away. We ordered the mint condition and salted grapefruit shrub (NA) to drink and received them immediately. It’s tough to find a really good mocktail but this one was spot on! For food, we knew from online reviews and social media exactly what we wanted to order and were so lucky to have received the last octopus carpaccio which was not only delicious, but beautifully plated as well. We also ordered the braised artichokes and warm rosemary focaccia for our appetizers and all three dishes were amazing. We’ve never had anything quite like the artichoke dish before, which my husband described as a deconstructed stuffed artichoke with bread crumbs. It was amazing on its own but also great when we dipped the focaccia. For our main entrees, we ordered the agnolotti (duck pasta) and the squid ink spaghetti (at our server’s suggestion). Both dishes were unbelievable; there are no words to adequately describe this culinary experience. The agnolotti melted in my mouth and the squid ink was such a bright and zesty dish. Thank goodness we ate light earlier in the day because we would have licked our plates clean if it weren’t frowned upon, the food was that good. Finally, the atmosphere and staff were so warm, friendly, and welcoming. They added to the overall experience we had. The venue itself is beautiful and the layout is untraditional but feels very open and roomy. The decor choices were beautiful as well. The staff were also a delight. We had Jacob as our server and he was nothing short of wonderful. When he learned it was our anniversary and we had checked out of our hotel and would be leaving Charleston straight from dinner without ordering dessert (we were stuffed and no room left), he had a tiramisu panna cotta wrapped up with plastic spoons for us to go! Joe, the maitre’d was also very friendly and checked in on us a couple of times during the meal as well as welcoming us in when we walked in. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable or intrusive when staff make small talk at the table, but with Joe, he felt like he could have been an old friend. We didn’t meet the chef or owner but when I complimented the chef and noted how impressed we were with our experience to Jacob, he even stated that Chef Mike is a great boss too. It’s so wonderful to hear when the boss treats his staff with respect, and I do believe that respect is reflected in the atmosphere the staff creates for the guests. It certainly showed for our experience at least. If we come through Charleston again, we will absolutely visit La Farfalle again!

Also had a Patio Pounder (not pictured) which is made with strawberry lemongrass grey goose essence, St. Germain, lemonade, soda - was super excited because I love St. Germain and was excited to taste the Strawberry & Lemongrass Infused Grey Goose Essence, however it fell completely flat. Short glass with more ice, lemonade and soda so much so it drowned the taste of the Grey Goose. For the cost, I'm sure it would have been a better drink had it not been so watery. I think the breaking point for me was I had order a side and decided that I wanted to order there four for $11.50 side because my mom had got macaroni & cheese and it look very good so I figured let me just try all their sides. The bar was small and crowded making it hard to find a table for 6 of us. We all ordered a different drink and most of us were very disappointed. The Hemingway Daiquiri had an overwhelming flavor or grapefruit juice, and tasted very tart and bitter compared to a typical daiquiri. The Pink Rabbit was ok with a fresh taste to it. There is a dining room and partially covered patio, with a nice seating nook near the traditional outside wood stove. The food we picked was aimed to try their point of taste on fresh local seafood. When I asked for another table (the patio was empty and so the air-conditioned dining room) my request was accommodated right away to the table under the patio's roof, at least. Unfortunately, the table was wobbling on its legs, which was quiet annoying, a second hiccup. There were no extra napkins for a quick fix. We choose not to bring it up and watch staff's reaction. They seems to be not paying attention or not being bothered enough to fix it for us. The third hiccup was the limited choice of fresh seafood dishes. I understand the main focus on Mexican/Latino cuisine, but, surely, there is wealth of traditional recipes to celebrate the abundance of local catch.

The staff was very helpful and polite. The burger I had ( though not the one with jalapeños like the bartender said he liked) was really tasty. Next time I will try the jalapeños burger.
