This is a wonderful park. It connects to the trail the runs all the way the Loch. There is a large play area for children and is dog friendly. There is a good walking and cycling path. You have a rather clear view of Loch Leven Castle. There are facilities here and parking. There is an interesting older cemetery at the top end of the park which is not dog friendly.

Staying across the road at the Green and popped over to sample the beer. Had a couple of pints of Kingslayer. Absolutely fabulous. Just the job. Really fresh and slides down very easily. Here for the weekend and know exactly where I will be heading tomorrow evening. Small tap room adjoining the brewery and whilst there an eclectic mix of people were in making a really good atmosphere. Plenty of opportunities to buy the different types of beer sold. An interesting bottle is the growler which is a very large bottle and you fill it with the beer of choice, fix the cap, take home and drink the contents, wash the empty bottle out and then take back for a refill.

I would say that the walk is mostly level but for the southwest corner of the walk. The path has been mostly resurfaced as of 14th March 2025, the last time that I was there. The east side is mostly woodland. There are also some other smaller woodland areas around the walk. There are 3 restaurants/cafe/toilets around the Loch. A restaurant on the northeast side, a cafe on the south east side and a cafe I think at Vane farm (RSPB). There is also a harbour at the northwest corner for fishing and boat trips to the island where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner.

Amazing place in the beautiful estate with flowers, pheasants and other birds walking in the big green space as you are heading to the spa. The spa is lovely, Scottish decor. We enjoyed the sauna and hydrotherapy before having a relaxing massage session and then tea in a relaxing area. Spent over 6 hours on the water and saw only 2 rises , not a single bite all day and the water is thick with algae
No one around when we docked (earlier than we planned as it was so poor) so can only assume someone arrives at 9 goes away and returns at 6pm for the evening shift

When I arrived the staff here told me that as I was not a professional ferry driver I was not allowed to go anywhere except to the spot he pointed out even though it was a sunny day. But the spot was very shallow so when I arrived the engine didn't work and I had to use the paddle to move around. I asked him if I could go fishing somewhere else and he said very unreasonably that I could not continue fishing even though I had gone to that shallow spot because I had followed his instructions. BTW I only called him this once for enquiry.I asked him why，he didn't answer and then he took the boat and dropped me off at a spot and told me I could only stay there and I had to contact him if I want to leave, I stayed there for an hour and left because there were no fish at that spot.
This is a really strange place, no one has come here to fish recently and their updates are a few years old, I have never given a bad review anywhere, this is my first bad review, I hope you can at least have a little respect for your customers!

As we are members of Historic Scotland, we decided to visit this site last Friday. It was such a beautiful day and the boat trip over to the castle was lovely. Use your Sat nav to find Pier road, as it is hidden behind a housing estate. By the time we arrived we were unable to join the next motor boat as it only holds 12 passengers at a time. This was not a problem though as there is a large park and grassy area to walk around. We sat at the waters edge watching people on their paddle boards. The sailings go every 45 mins so it was no big deal to wait for the next sailing. If you are impatient though you can always book ahead. The girl steering the boat was very friendly explaining the safety rules whilst onboard before we started our sail.
Once on the island we were given the directions to the only toilets on the small island. You need to take a picnic with you if you want to eat as there are no other facilities there.
I felt this would be an ideal place to take children as there are flat grassy areas to run around and picnic tables.
The castle and grounds are quite interesting and there are displays dotted around providing historical information and nature facts.
I would definitely recommend Loch Leven castle for a family day out particularly on a sunny day.

Brilliant visit! Plenty of parking with clear signs and toilets nearby. Book your boat online and arrive 15 mins early – the trip across the loch was so calm and scenic, with friendly skippers. The castle is small but full of history and charm, with picnic spots and great views (you can even see Kinross House). Nice day out on a cold autumn morning. Took the boat across to the castle, the operator was very polite and informative of local history whilst we travelled across the water, trip takes about 10 minutes. Went around the castle grounds and inside where there are information boards at various points telling you the history of the place. I would recommend a 45min walk around/explore and ready for the return back by boat. For something to eat and drink there was the pink cafe next to the ticket office. We used it on the way out however, we decided to pop into Kinross to visit the Muir head hotel/pub for lunch.

This trail is amazing. The terrain is relatively flat. The views are spectacular and the trail is peaceful. It is well maintained and clearly marked. You can do just a portion or the entire trail with a number of options of places to stop along the way to just sit on benches or for a cup of tea or something to eat. From the totally accessible Visitors Centre, to the different routes up, to the views, flora and fauna! This was a perfect autumn 🍂🍁 walk.
From the RSPB shop, I bought 5 pins - barn owl, short-eared owl, fly agaric, peacock butterfly, and sunflower.

Woodland creatures and flora were cleverly carved into tree stumps and trunks.
There were benches along the way for resting during one's ascent or descent.

Nice reserve with extensive wetlands and a woodland walk. There are three hides providing views of pools and wet grasslands. On my last visit I saw a Marsh Harrier and four Ospreys. Ospreys don't breed here but fish in the Loch, especially in late summer. There are Red Squirrels in the woods and Brown Hares in the fields.
The visitor centre is staffed by helpful volunteers and has an excellent cafe with loads of tasty vegan options, which suits me.
UPDATE the cafe menu has changed, now consists of bought in sandwiches and light bites. The excellent range of vegan cakes has gone.

I have passed these stones for over two decades on my commute and recreational travel. They stand off the A911 opposite Orwell Farm, halfway between Kinross / Milnathort and Kinnesswood. The rise of the ridge silhouettes them perfectly against the sky. They are angled to one another in an unusual way that suggests they may be survivors of a tight circle now robbed out, but excavation says otherwise. As two singleton stones placed yards but possibly centuries apart, with scanty traces of at least one burial, they are not only enigmatic but possibly unique.

Since 2015 the Scots Kirk has moved to greater cooperation with the Church of England, the community are unfriendly but no more so than in most well-doing rural settings. The site is important as linking the early church, Loch Leven Priory with St Leonard in nearby Fife and thereby the elite and traditional religious community in St Andrews.
