You can see lobster boats coming and going getting their traps. Honestly, it's pretty hard to not be distracted by the scenery! The course plays well, has a much older feel to it. The fairways can be dry in spots and wet in others. The greens are in very good shape. Sand in the traps is a more coarse type you usually find in New England sand traps. In the half dozen times I've played here, I've never had to wait on any hole. Pace of play is pretty quick, playing 9 as a single took an hour and a half the last time. If you're in the area and you play golf you must give Grindstone Neck a try!

There was plenty of spots in the parking lot when we visited around 6:30AM. We came straight after we did Cadillac Mountain for Sunrise. A few of us went to hike Beehive and the other smaller ones went to the beach. The parking lot is shared for those who want to get to beehive trail head which is just across the street. There was large restroom facility and changing rooms as well. There were tables and benches and trash cans. The site has plenty of infrastructure. Because we came earlier in the season it wasn't super crowded yet. I think the park had just started running their shuttle buses that weekend. There was a long hike down to the beach with lots of stairs. I'm not sure if there was ramp access somewhere. You would have to carry all your beach stuff down with you. It was also quite chilly when we visited and no one was really in the water except for maybe their feet. From the beach you can also see all the way up to Beehive which was fun to see all the people going up the mountain side. There is no alcoholic beverages allowed, no glass containers, no fires, no camping, no feeding wildlife and no flotation devices. During the summer from June 15-Sept 8 there are no dogs allowed, no boat launching, no fishing and no surfing. There is also no lifeguard on duty. Overall this was a very nice beach given all the limitations I already stated.

The parking lot is not that large but most people don't stay long so there is a chance you can get a spot close to the beach. If not, there is parking on the Loop Road. We also came very close to a lighthouse and were able to take many pictures, and look for seals. We did see an eagle in a nest, seals, and many other birds. My daughter had the CWT fried bacon and bagel sandwich, we tried the peach pancakes, my husband had a scramble with sourdough toast, and I had a scramble with gluten-free toast. We also ordered a vanilla latte, a milk, and an orange juice. The scrambles are good, but they add up once you add all of the meat and vegetables and become a little bit pricey. The drinks are a bit expensive as well and we ended up spending $81 plus tip on breakfast! The sourdough toast is good and I thought the gluten-free toast was excellent. It was light and fluffy and not chewy. Gluten-free bread can be hit or miss and this was really good gluten-free bread and would probably make great French toast, but I did not try the French toast. The orange juice was good and the milk was good and cold. My daughter enjoyed her bacon, egg and cheese bagel and my scramble was excellent and a very large portion. The big hit of the day was the peach pancakes. We ordered those to share and that plate is empty. The pancake texture and flavor were excellent. They have real whipped butter available, and the syrup was really good. During the winter of 2023/2024 we had multiple severe windstorms in Maine. These scenes must’ve been incredible prior to storm cleanup. Schoodic National Scenic Byway is about 28 miles by car. One of two available starting points begins at the Hancock-Sullivan bridge. Continue on Route 1, then take Route 186 to Winter Harbor. Then enter Acadia National Park by turning onto the Schoodic Loop Road. Exit the end of this loop road by reconnecting with Route 186. Scenic Byway ends at the junction of Routes 186 and 195 in Prospect Harbor. Lots of hiking opportunities in this region. Can’t wait to return here to explore some trails!!
