The house, which we found out used to be a convent, is gorgeous. From open courtyard downstairs, to the rooms, to the upstairs patio where we were served breakfast every morning - I couldn't imagine a better place in Oaxaca. The staff were all so sweet and we enjoyed chatting and laughing with them. It's a sign that a place is well managed when the people working there are happy, and that is doubtless the case at Casa Antonieta. The location was also perfect. Right out the door is the central square where parades circle through every day, as well as dancing in the streets every night. There are many amazing restaurants and shops with artisanal items in walking distance. We spent four days in honeymoon heaven wandering between the Casa and the streets.

There are so many cozy and beautiful places to hang out - the lush courtyards, rooftop pool and bar, patios and library. We loved all the massive plants, the staff were friendly, kind and helpful and we felt comfortable there. We probably would not include breakfast next time, though it was great for a continental breakfast, there are just so many other wonderful options in the city (like stellar tomales from a cart a few blocks away) that I would rather just try all those. Flood at the rooftop bar was also just ok, would rather eat elsewhere. We didn’t have the full dinner though. The drinks were great. Only room for improvement is WiFi that works and better lighting in the rooms. They were rather dark.
