It wasn't value for money as we spent over £40 for two oily English breakfast and coffees. Local to centre. The staff at Hermitage very helpful and kind and nice bar. I didn't try breakfast or food at hotel. The room I had was sea view and very nice. Downside, when flushing toilet there was heck of a noise for 5 minutes and this seemed to be the same for others, then the floor in the room was very creaky. The bed was fresh, clean and comfortable and overall I will go back there as found the hotel very relaxing and clean.

It was nice to be in a cool place on a hot day. Service was OK but not fantastic given it wasn't very busy. The roast lunch was lovely. The starter and dessert were fine but very 'hotel' as was the ambiance. Great location near the beach but all you can see is the carpark and flyover which is a shame. Very good value though. And if you're on the manically crowded beach and fancy a haven for lunch try here!

Staff were really friendly and kind. Facilities were okay. A bit cramped at times especially the ladies changing room, lots of waiting for changing rooms/bath rooms as well as to shower. We were quite disappointed with the lack of beds/loungers compared to the amount of people in the spa. There are only 5 beds and everyone was just waiting for someone to move! It wasn’t the cleanest place and in the changing room there was only 1 shower and toilet! Also the hair dryer wasn’t effective which was disappointing. The spa receptionist however, went above and beyond to make sure we could put our bags away (lockers were too small) and she was always friendly and approachable. The afternoon tea was amazing, but unfortunately we won’t be coming back for the spa.

When we first arrived the receptionist wasn't as welcoming and friendly as I thought she'd be. She was quite intimidating and she seemed uninterested in us. Maybe if the hash browns weren't so soggy then I would've loved the breakfast. The orange juice was smooth when full but then as I went by to get more bits just started coming out the dispenser which made me feel really grossed out😕

When we got to the Hampton, the front desk informed me we had been 'upgraded' to stay at the neighbouring Hilton Bournemouth due to my Hilton Honors Gold Status. We walked over to Hilton next door, and were disappointed to find we had been put in a double room, and not a twin as per my original booking. I raised this matter with the front desk as the double room was not suitable for us. We were told by the Manager that the only other available room was a family room, which I reluctantly accepted. We then had to wait downstairs in the lobby for around an hour whilst our room was being prepared. The room wasn't as comfortable, with me taking the sofa bed and my son in the double. Much more concerning; there appeared to be what looked like blood stains in the bathroom, which obviously hadn't been cleaned properly. When I was leaving in the morning, the young lady at the front desk offered to waive the parking charges as a gesture of goodwill for inconvenience caused. To add insult to injury, 2 months later I received a Parking Charge Notice for failing to pay the car park fees. I'm now having to deal with the parking company, as well as Hilton Bournemouth to get the parking penalty cancelled.

However, I think my latest trip didn't quite live up to expectation. Our room was great, although I'm personally not sure the new bathroom decor matches the rooms (highly subjective though). They are obviously making money from additional events - a kids silent disco when we arrived and a dinner/dance/disco in the evening which is fine, but it's not a place for a 4* night away. We had a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms too. Breakfast buffet was fine and staff were friendly but overall, the hotel feels tired and doesn't provide a 4* experience that you would expect.

To start I ordered the Sticky Xo Pork - Braised pork cheeks in Asian xo sauce, toasted buttered crumpet Pickled onions, hot honey plums & coriander and my husband ordered the Salmon Terrine - Layers of oak smoked salmon and dill butter served with horseradish mousse, avocado & watercress. The pork was tender and just pulled apart with no effort at all, the crumpet and plums were a little odd but the crumpet soaked up the juices and the plums added a tang to cut through the sticky pork. The terrine was delicious and the horseradish mousse paired very well, although there was far too much of it which felt a little wasteful. On to the mains…. My husband ordered the Partridge - Red wine partridge breast, fondant potato, butternut squash, wilted spinach & red wine sauce and I went for the Stone Bass - Roasted stone bass fillet, cep puree, wilted spinach King oyster mushroom and rosemary sauce. The partridge was very taste with just the right level of ‘bite’ to not be tough or chewy. The bass was delicious, flakey fish cooked perfectly with the intense mushroom flavour running through the dish. We decided to add some sides as well; Skinny Fries, wonderfully crisp and piping hot, plus Truffle Mac & Cheese which had a real punch of truffle flavour. For dessert, our waitress recommended the Assiette of Desserts; miniature versions of a selection from the menu; Warm Dark Chocolate Fondant, Cheesecake, Panna Cotta & Ice cream - everything on the plate was delicious, the stand outs were the fondant which had a decadently rich taste and glossy melting centre, as well as the ice cream, smooth a creamy and all 3 were flavours were intense. Its so rare nowadays to find a real kitchen where the food is actually made in house by skilled chefs. The only thing they don't make is the bread, butter and ice cream, our server told us. Thankfully, a fan was already provided in the room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The service is slow and there is a lack of attention to detail. For example, we had a baby cot in our room, even though on our booking it was clear there were no children as guests.
