The cast was so well selected and performed their roles perfectly. The sets were beautifully constructed and the transitions were seamless. I would highly recommend this show especially if you love musicals. The vocals were on point and the cast had the crowd engaged from the opening line to the dancing finale. Neptune is such a wonderful theatre. It is beautiful and spacious. The staff are delightful especially the bar staff who are incredibly personable and welcoming. The seats are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. There are snacks and lots of drink options and they are well priced. Our party ranged in age from 10 to 55 and everyone had a fabulous time. There are booster seats for the kids which worked perfectly. It was a splurge but one that was well worth it to kick off a short trip to Halifax.

Thanks to the gentleman inside who walked us through some of the most interesting parts we learned so much. This is one of the oldest buildings in Halifax, and has some amazing ties to historical events. One of the original stained glass windows remains in the church — see if you can find it. The rest were blown out during the Halifax explosion. As you enter the church look up and you'll see a piece of steel that ended up embedded in the church wall. There are two grave markings that date back to the 1770s. This cathedral / church is unique in that it has a pew at the front that is dedicated to the royal family, should they come to visit. Owners Julie & Arla have created a great place to stop in, sip on great rum & original drinks and catch live jazz. I was there several times during my visit to Halifax. The interior of the place is unique - it has a combination of old world (with the amazing wood bar) and then newer space in the back with modern furnishings. I loved the pics - historic nova scotia photos as well as the history of rum, Prohibition and Julie’s family (she is a 4th generation distiller - her great great great grandfather was a distiller in North Carolina!) We took a tour of the facilities and it’s very impressive - but let’s face it… I like big tanks! GREAT music - and they stream them live on Facebook as well. Perfect spot to enjoy local bands. We also had a party in the back room which is very secluded & great for small parties. The music from the front room can be piped in as well. Our guide was Alexandra Hernandez and it was a memory definitely for the books. The Habour Hopper tour in Halifax, drives you around town to some pivotal sites in Halifax and then descends into the water, and the rest of the tour is a very appreciated lovely water experience. The price for this tour was good, including a good boat ride which was a bit longer than expected. The tour of the island itself was extremely informative, and provided plenty to see. I can't beleive I haven't written a review of this park before. I have been coming here for years and gave many tours here years ago. The island is a wonderful nature retreat right in the middle of the Halifax harbour. Three old abandoned military forts here, and lots of military history. The old McNabs family cemetery just off Fort McNab. You can bring a bike and cycle the roads/trails or hike and explore all the secondary trails. You can camp on the island for free as well. You just have to contact Natural resources to let them know you are coming. There are a ton of geocaches here for people to explore further. There is no water source on the island so pack in all your food and water and pack out your trash. There is no garbage pick up on the island. Washroom facilities are limited to a combination of old fashioned outhouses and composting toilets.

Meaning I've had a meal at the horrible Hometown Buffet down in the neighborhood of Van Nuys, CA that was dirty as dirt - Casino Nova Scotia makes that now closed hellhole look like Cafe Sierra at Citywalk in LA. (Which serves a glorious seafood buffet for $150 a person!) First off the sides are seriously lagging. Meaning there are two sides tables to this "buffet" - but both have the exact same sides which means very little selection. Some meager and odd salad options, (cold mac and cheese...as a salad?!) plain mashed potatoes, crappy barely sauced pasta, overdone fried pickles, dry cornbread and overcooked Salmon. (The ONLY minor edible was the Alfredo sauced chicken - my guest didn't dig the garlic flavor - but when cheap as dirt chicken is your TOP meat at a Prime Rib feast you got problems!) So get to the nitty gritty - the main feature in the prime rib dinner - the prime rib. The one that drew me to this experience on a Saturday evening. (I've included a pic of what was online so you can see what I was expecting - yeah right!) Was it good? Was it sliced with picturesque medium rare glistening goodness like in the promised photo? What in fact...was there? A new roast was brought out right in front of me and it took them 5 minutes to lift it from the metal serving tray to the so called carving space dead center as it was falling apart in dripping chunks. Wet, overcooked and stringy as a yarn ball, this was the absolute worst meat I've ever had in my life. I cannot in good conscience call it prime rib - think roast beef, overdone and almost inedible. (The pic attached shows no such string stuff in it's advertising!) Finally to the desserts which were overly sweet and the only saving grace being the cobbler with fresh cream - again my guest was not a fan of the blueberries filling - but even then found what looked to be a pastry bag plastic topper in the cream on my cobbler. (Put it aside and kept eating - was starving and didn't care at that point!) So the moral here - you get what you pay for. They are using the sub-par kitchen and chefs to create a grotesque meal in a sneaky effort to get you in...to play casino games. This is not Gordon Ramsey's adjoining restaurant to compliment the ambience - this is a food that he would spit out and then close the place down. But even at mere $30 (or lesser if you are a casino gambling member) a starving hobo would feel ripped off, unsatisfied and mighty mad. Splurge on something better and avoid the con - here endeth the lesson.

The tour itself was very laid back but with constant intriguing information about the history of the area and information about everything we were seeing. At one point they harmonized a few verses of Barrett's Privateers along with some tidbits about Stan Roger's, then ended our tour with Joyce singing Farewell to Nova Scotia with her ukelele and Dave harmonizing. No one else could possibly bring these skills and knowledge in such a unique way, so we did appreciate how magical it was. It has been an absolute DREAM! Public gardens across the street, short walk to the library, harbour, museum, right on the commons, Pete's down the street. This place has such a great sense of community. All maintenance requests were addressed next day. Staff is amazing. Apartments are clean and bug free. They even have a community garden in the back. We've rented in 7 different places over the years and 5770 is by far the best. Would definitely recommend.
