The Gumfreston is located in a very quiet side street in Tenby but just a few minutes walk from the toen centre or beaches. A large pay & display car park is just around the corner if required. A very friendly welcome from Sam and Julie on arrival and Sam kindly assisted with finding me free car parking near the guest house which meant I didn't need the P&D car park We stayed in room 9 which had a double and single bed for our grandaughterl, spotlessly clean, very well decorated in fresh colours and was warm, cosy and very comfortable with a good size bathroom/shower and toilet. Little touches like a packet of choc chip cookies in the room, plenty of hangars were really great. The breakfast was amazing with a fantastic range of choices, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and of course the full English. Very good quality locally sourced sausages, bacon, beautiful mushrooms and tomatoes, branded beans and brown sauce make for a first class breakfast experience.k My grandaughter is a very fussy eater and both Sam and Julie ensured she had what she needed. I have no hesitation in highly recommending The Gumfreston for staying in Tenby. Many thanks for taking care of us.

Julie and Sam were amazing especially with our children. Nothing was to much trouble. The breakfast was amazing!! When we came down Easter Sunday all the guests had an Easter egg waiting on their tables, which my 2 were very excited about, thank you. We loved Tenby and we'd definitely come back and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

What a find!! We were greated by Alex who made us feel very welcome. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily, refreshments topped up with plenty of milk and even Welsh Cakes. Towels smelt fresh and clean along with bedding. Little touches in the bathroom were lovely. The staff were just incredible. Everyone was friendly, smiling, helpful and looked very tidy. Everyone worked hard and definitely a team pulling together to give the best service for all their guests. The decor throughout the property was very nicely done. The breakfast room was cool, spotless and light. Breakfast itself was outstanding-so much choice and all excellent quality. We didn’t need to eat during the day as it kept us going till evening dinner. The garden both front and back were well kept and the building nice and tidy and clean. We were delighted to find out that they could accommodate our 10yr old when we visit again. Highly recommended, and definitely deserve a 5 score for food. Good value for money. I was apprehensive about reviews but I found it to be delightful. The room was spotless and staff helpful and polite. Very pretty place, I personally loved the room and the unique little touches. Short walk into tenby town (15 minutes) so close enough to enjoy the hustle and bustle but far enough away to be idyllic and peaceful. They have dogs but honestly didn't hear them and wouldn't have known they were there. I would 100% stay here again and recommend. Thank you 😊

I stayed for one night with my boyfriend and the room was gorgeous and so clean. There was a lovely swan on the bed before my boyfriend moved it! The bed was so comfy, we had a wonderful night’s sleep. It was lavishly decorated and is the nicest hotel room I have stayed in. We were about a 10 min walk from the beach which wasn’t bad at all, I didn’t mind the walk. The only improvements I could think of would be curtains as well as the blinds for extra privacy and to block the light in the mornings. We also only had a bath in the room which was fine for us as we only stayed one night but otherwise you may want to request a room with a shower. Aside from that it was absolutely lovely and I have to say some of the reviews on here go past the point of being critical to being downright cruel. Obviously newly decorated and spotless. The bed was comfy and there was tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. They are still renovating so there is no dining room or lounge, and with no chairs in the room it means there is nowhere in the property to sit, you have to be on the bed, or somewhere else. This is the only reason I have not given the room 5 stars. When we arrived we were greeted by a man who helped carry our bags to the room and was very helpful. That is the only time we saw the hosts though. They did not make any effort to come and tell me they were going to do that before taking the payment. Fabulous location right on the seafront. We paid extra for a sea view and although the room was nicely decorated it was small and the wall was damp with some mould visible. Some communal areas are dated although the breakfast space seemed very nice. Breakfast was lovely. They are dog friendly although you can't eat in the dining room with your dog so getting breakfast was a bit of a 'thing' and wasn't brilliantly explained. Basically you hang around and wait for them to make you up a tray. We weren't offered coffee or drinks and it felt like it was all a bit of an inconvenience. The rooms and facilities were OK, though the one we stayed in could do with a refresh and we had some issues with the shower taking a long time to heat up, some grime on the shower hose and the water being slow to drain. I also didn't rate the breakfast very highly, due to lack of choice and freshness (some of the individually packaged pastries were past their best before date, and some of the fruit looked a bit tired and past it's best). Most significantly, I did not appreciate the poor attitude and behaviour of the owners. They pressured me to take down my review on Booking.com, accusing me of defamation and threatening me with legal action and seeking monetary compensation from me for 'damages' because I shared my honest thoughts about my experience. I deleted that initial review, but on reflection decided I would not be silenced by bullies and would post my honest review on here instead. As such, I won't recommend that anyone stay here unless it is taken on by new management who are capable of receiving honest feedback from their customers without resorting immediately to threats and hostility. It turned a slightly underwhelming stay into quite a stressful experience.

Everywhere was spotlessly clean with views of South Beach which was just at the end of the street. The shower cubicle was a little bit small but the shower itself was great with lots of hot water. Beware the breakfasts, they are humongous but quality isn't sacrificed for quantity. My husband had the full breakfast whilst I had the specials. Mashed Avocado on toast with poached eggs the first day followed by eggs Benedict with the most delicious hollandaise sauce on the second day followed by pancakes with fresh fruit and cream and maple syrup on our last day. Huw is a great host. Nothing is too much trouble for him. We will be back.

Our host, Hugh, was marvellous. A perfect mix of friendly, helpful and discreet. His property is lovely. It is a beautiful old townhouse (as the name suggests) and whilst it has some small areas that need a little attention, it is full of character and very homely. We booked a small double room on the top floor and were really surprised at how lovely it was and it had everything we could have possibly needed. The ensuite was beautiful. Hugh's breakfasts were absolutely gorgeous and his 'daily special' was a real treat. I wish we lived nearer, as I would regularly pop in just for breakfast if I could. Hew, the host, was friendly and clearly works hard — his breakfasts were excellent and much appreciated each morning. However, I felt the accommodation didn’t quite live up to the impression given by the photos and price. Our room was quite small, felt a bit claustrophobic, and unfortunately really wasn't as clean as we’d have expected. Whilst walking to my room I quickly discovered this B&B was not for me, the stairs could have done with a good hoover with worn out carpets, there was personal items baskets ect (images attached) lying around the hallways where guests were trying to walk which wasn’t ideal. On entering my room I couldn’t believe how small it was, granted I booked a small double room but my gosh we hardly had space to place our bags. We had just driven from Scotland (8 hour drive) therefore we lay on the bed, I turned to my husband and asked ‘can you smell a funny smell’? His response was ‘yes’ to my horror it was the little grey pillows (image attached) they stunk of mould, I instantly felt dirty and started to scratch. We went for a brief walk to try find alternative accommodation however we failed. There was a stain from a previous guest on the carpet/unit which hadn't been cleaned properly. On the third morning we were rudely woken by the cat scratching/crying outside our room door (video attached) at 8.15am - time to leave (no Option for videos to be uploaded - feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to send you the video of the cat scratching/crying outside my bedroom door). There was no breakfast however I am not sure if I selected breakfast or not, if we did select breakfast it got placed outside our room door which means no restaurant. The advertising images taken from the owner are not reality, the images I have attached are. My husband and I were really disappointed with our stay - I would not recommend booking

We were handed a key and the room rules and that was all. There was nothing to tell us about the area, events on, where to eat, was patronizing whilst telling us where to park. The TV didn’t work unless you wiggled the aerial, and then only some channels actually worked. The shower was incredibly tiny, and there was a massive water leak stain above the bed. The bed itself was very short, I am 5ft5 and my feet hung over the end of the bed. Plenty of other accommodation about so very sad that the host didn’t really care whether we were there or not. A VAST difference from all other hosts across the world.

Rang to see if there was anywhere we could leave our bags to be told the room was ready and we could check in straight away. Car park is directly behind the guesthouse and is only £7 for 24hrs. Met by Chris who was lovely and friendly and explained how the guesthouse works as there isn't a conventional reception desk. The breakfast room was light and airy with an 'honesty bar' in the corner; help yourself and tell Chris or Rachel later. Nice idea! There were several options for breakfast so I opted for the standard full breakfast. Fresh, tasty and no complaints. Room was perfectly functional and suitable for the overnight stay we had planned and the bed was comfortable and clean. Again, no complaints here. Would definitely stay again!!!

They couldn't of done more to make our stay better. The room was lovely and clean, as was the ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. They were friendly, approachable and professional. Nicola even set up the dinning room for us, so we could eat our takeaway in comfort. My husband Stephen and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank you very much Nicola and Mark. Nicky and mark were warm and welcoming on arrival and made sure i had everything i needed. The room was well presented and clean with an ensuite. The breakfast was well laid out with cereal, juices and or a full English breakfast. The English breakfast was cooked to perfection. The hotel is just around the corner from the beach front and the town is a very short walk so perfectly situated. A very enjoyable stay which i recommend to all.

They were even able to cater for vegans. The rooms are clean and tidy, the showers in each room however are a little loud and they did wake us up in the morning. It's so easy to get into the town of Tenby from the hotel and is a stone throw away from the beach. If you are looking for a room to stay with friendly staff look no further.

Only a short walk to Tenby with all its amenities, and private parking which was a great bonus. Our hosts were lovely, warm, friendly and chatty and gave us a great room with a garden view and a very comfortable bed. Breakfasts were 'out of this world' with a great variety of things to choose from. I loved the pancakes with Maple Syrup and fresh fruit. My partner particularly liked the sausages, which were local. The sign of a good holiday is when you wish you weren't leaving, and that is certainly how we felt. Well done, the Sleepy Puffin.
