At least sometimes her hands were wiped on her clothes before handling the food. Staff walk past dirty tables and appear to think clearing them is below them. Our food sat on the pass for a while and I would suggest it wasn't at safe food handling temperatures when it arrived. The ceiling fans above the tables look like they've never been cleaned. Staff in a customer centric role should probably actually like doing customer service. The only time I saw them smile was when they were chatting amongst themselves. Even the greeting when I ordered was poor. Overall the dirty cutlery, lukewarm food, dirty tables, poor customer service and blasé staff led to a 2 star rating.

And major failure we found was the lack of signage to advise that orders are only taken at the counter. We unfortunately had mistaken the level of service here as we waited 12 minutes at our table for our order to be taken. We can't falter the food although you would expect a little more bacon for the money you are charged. The total cost was $25.19 for 1 Cappuccino & Bacon & Eggs. This is quite alarming when you are exposed to any type of bacteria when consuming foods. We politely phoned and explained our situation multiple times as well as physically going into the Ampol station with our receipt and bank statement in our attempts to be refunded. We were made to jump through hoops to gain any refund as if the onus for this mistake was ours. A simple end of day settlement read and/or CCTV check would have confirmed we were erroneously charged twice for the one tank of fuel . Eventually after advising we would not be giving up on this matter and we will be taking it further if a refund was not forthcoming, we were told we needed to make an ‘appointment’ with Philomena the ‘manager’ (at her convenience) to be given the privilege of said refund. When my wife came in at the required appoint time, Philomena was rude, arrogant and aggressive and came up with some more reasons why she really shouldn’t be providing us with a refund anyway. My wife calmly explained why a refund was indeed very much required by law in this situation and there had been ZERO fault on our side in any of this debacle. A refund was eventually reluctantly given but with an attitude again that somehow we were the ones that had personally done this to her. No apology was given at all, only a sense that we had somehow created more problems in her day. I’ll say that again. No apology was given at all. At any time. I have no doubt if we were simply passing through Coffs Harbour and this happened we never would have been able to obtain any type of refund. I was not informed about the apprentice until AFTER my blow dry was taken out and I was unhappy with the result. No mention on the phone of who would be doing my hair at all. Becca even asked the apprentice if I’d booked the “apprentice special,” she said no so you knew I hadn’t. It’s just an easy way for you to blame the client. Regardless, any paying client should not walk out like that. The photos speak for themselves. This was after two attempts and two hours. Your story makes zero sense. If it was a “discounted service” I had booked for, why did you try charge me for a full senior stylist appointment? That’s because that is what I booked for. Based on previous reviews, I’m not the only one with issues with Becca’s skills and attitude. Three hours for a wash and straighten is a joke. They don’t even offer you a glass of water. This salon really just does not care and their response further adds to that. —— Worst experience I’ve had at a salon. They asked me to come in an hour earlier so they could do the wash I asked to add on which seemed excessive but little did I know I’d be there 3 hours and leave with just a wash and straighten. I booked a wash and style (I asked for a smooth look with curled/flicked ends) and got frizzy, puffy hair that was nothing like what I asked for. When I said something, the senior stylist Becca came over and said, “Well, you’ve booked the apprentice special” which I hadn’t. I booked a normal, full-price appointment. She then spoke to me condescendingly as if that excused the result. I had no knowledge this was even an apprentice until then, and regardless, if an apprentice isn’t capable, they shouldn’t be left to do a full service unsupervised! She tried to fix it but the curls didn’t hold. I was told to come back in 20 minutes so they could redo it after already being there for two hours for what should’ve been a max one-hour service. I had a wedding to get to so I asked them to just straighten it so I could leave sooner. She said it would be less than 10 mins to do which it was. Instead of apologising for now having to have my hair redone a third time for a very simple style and being there 3 hours, she continued to lecture me about “booking with an apprentice”, even though I hadn’t and repeatedly told her this. There was no ownership for simply a bad job. Then they tried to charge me full price for a a senior stylist appointment (the original price was meant to pay) because she claimed to do my hair even though she even said herself she spent less than 10 minutes fixing it after a three-hour ordeal! I said absolutely not and if anything I should be getting a discount for the inconvenience. She even complained it cut into her lunch break as if I chose to be there triple the length of time I should have. They also tried to add on $50 to the original price claiming a wash and style was $140 until I disputed it and then they suddenly said oh yes that $50 shouldn’t be added on. The apprentice was lovely but the result was not what I asked for at all. the “senior” staff member becca was rude from start to finish. Cared more about her lunch than her clients. Would never go back and recommend anyone needing their hair done in Coffs to avoid. You honestly would do a better job yourself.

The bulgogi was more like a Chinese Beef and Black Bean stirfry with a lot of vegetables in it. The fried chicken was so bland and was more like a schnitzel. The sides or banchan were not like any other banchans I have received before. One was Japanese Wakame (which slaps so that was a plus) for example and one seemed to have been a frozen peas, corn and carrots mix defrosted from Woolies with a runny white sauce. I really hope that the owner does some better research in the future to improve Soul 1. It has so much potential and is in such a convienient location. Maybe the BBQ meat is ok- who knows we didn’t try it. They do have instructions on the table for how to make a Ssam (쌈) which is an important part of Korean BBQ. Please don‘t be turned off Korean food if you have a bad experience here. What we tried today is absolutely not representative of Korean food. True Korean food is amazing. Around Coffs for example we have All About Chicken in Woolgoolga which is run by Koreans and they serve delicious Korean Fried Chicken. I am really disheartened that Soul 1 markets themselves as Korean because it‘s just so off the mark ㅜㅜ I hope that it changes in the future but for now, we won’t be back

It was like eating a rubber roll of dog meat encased in second rate puff pastry ( which still needed a few more folds on the dough break as you could still see the pastry gems in the pastry). Bloody dreadful. Tough is an understatement. The mushroom pie was over baked or been sitting in that pie warmer since 2023. Dry, lack of mushrooms and poor quality. To make matters worse, reading their motto of Superior interior written on their 2sq pie bags makes me ashamed to have been in this industry. Do better. Don’t let your shop girls be your tradesman. Filling pies in plain sight on a freezer lid? Seriously??? Make better quality products. Those sausage rolls were absolutely horrendous. Serve what you would serve your own family!!! $17.60 DO BETTER with your quality, get better tradesman, buy better ingredients and just care about your product.
