The atmosphere is lovely with a fireplace on the ground level. We were seated on the second level with view to the river Ness. The service was excellent. We ordered shrimp cocktail and a Cesar salad followed by the steak medium rare with chips and the seabass. The best of it were the chips. Unfortunately the steak was chewy and could have more seasoning. The seabass was good but overcooked. We loved the place and the service but were not impressed with the food.

It's a really nice restaurant in a great location right on the River Ness, so offers great views. Also, we were seated upstairs which gives better views of both the river and the overall restaurant and bar. For food, my wife and I both got the two course meal, so I had the Deconstructed Prawn Cocktail and Fillet of Seabass. The prawns were good and the seabass (and couscous that came with it) was really good. They do a really good job on food presentation here, so it looked great, too. My wife had the Breaded French Brie, which she loved, and Red Pesto Gnocchi, which she said was just ok. Servers were friendly and attentive. The one odd thing that happened was we were presented with the two course menu option, whereas all tables seated after us were presented with a large specials placard which had some dishes I might have ordered. I noticed the one other couple seated before us also looking at the list of specials, so they weren't offered it either. Might have been because we were seated so early - not really sure. Otherwise, was a really good meal in a great location.

The haggis croquettes and cullen skink were both great and we enjoyed them. We also got a steak "medium" and it came out well done. We had a good laugh about that but luckily the whisky sauce made it edible (we're too polite to ever send food back). Service was perfectly fine but if you like lots of attention this probably isn't the spot for you. View out the windows is great if you get a table there. We, however, had a lovely view of the wall. The only reservation open a week in advance was 5.30pm on a Friday evening, beginning of October 2025. Service was good and atmosphere was ok but we were disappointed with the food. They forgot cheese in the pear walnut and blue cheese salad. We had to ask for it. We had the venison burger and the Orichiette pasta dish. The pasta was undercooked, bland and basically flavorless. The bread looked good but was crumbly, dry and no flavor. The best part of the venison was the sauce but the overdone burger was a disappointment. But we liked the chips which came with the burger. You could see into the kitchen and watch the staff of 20 somethings working hard.

It was fantastic from start to finish. For appetizers we tried the bread, prawns, ravioli, and scallops. The winner was the ravioli for us. For entrees we had the burger, which my wife said was one of her favorite burgers ever, the salmon which was fantastic, the steak (filet) which was delicious and our second favorite steak ever, and the chicken. Can’t recommend this meal enough. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the curb, but it is great inside and much larger than you might expect. The noise was a bit much when full. We got a tea, leek and potato soup, and 2 scrambled eggs on gluten free toast. The wait time was pretty long, about 40 minutes. I enjoyed my soup, a very large amount, however the potato had seemed to have partially dissolved in the broth and there wasn't very much of it actually in there. The chicken and salad though tasted nice and something I would most likely have again. We discovered the amazing lunch menu (2 courses for £20!) and couldn’t resist. We ordered drinks and food, and everything came over promptly. The mussels were EXCEPTIONAL. Celebrated my friend’s 40th birthday at this stunning riverside restaurant, and it was perfect! I booked afternoon tea for mum and me for her birthday. Thankfully she had the regular menu and really enjoyed it. Sadly I had the vegan option and it was hugely disappointing. I had checked the website before and saw the vegan afternoon tea menu which sounds delicious. Sadly didn't receive anything slightly resembling the menu. While I would understand a slight alteration to a menu due to availability there wasn't much, in fact not one sandwich or cake that was the same. Below I've shared the menu and a pic of what I actually got for the cakes. No flapjacks, cakes and the brownie was just plain chocolate (and to be honest actually just ok). Instead of menu I got a fruit skewer with two strawberries, two grapes and a raspberry and half a banana...with plain chocolate brownie. Really not at all what was advertised. Very uncreative and felt like a pretty cheap alternative. Definitely not worth the afternoon tea price. Sandwiches actually received were all a mixture of vegan cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion....no humous, salsa or seaweed in sight. Vegan cream for the scone would not be difficult or even expensive, even a squirt of vegan squirty cream would be more thoughtful than nothing. I would have fed this back directly but sadly no one asked for feedback or even if everything was ok with the meal. It was clear it was going to be something special, so having returned in Sept ‘25 we specifically sought it out. It hasn’t disappointed, the bar has been beautifully designed with viewing windows into the brewery, and the seating areas have been designed to meet the needs of bigger groups or cost couples, with comfortable leather seating, stools and foot rests. The beer was the best I’ve had all holiday (I had the Forest Dweller Inverness Pale Ale), and the service team were friendly and chatty. Add a bit of chilled music to top off the ambience and it definitely made it worth the visit. It’s only a short walk from town along the river - which in itself is a treat - so if you are in the area, give it a go.
