From start to finish the experience was amazing. The food and the service were fantastic. The menu, although not much changed from my last visit, was incredible. I ordered almost every dish from the menu to share with my table and pretty much every dish was remarkable. To top off the experience, both of my servers remembered that I had booked the table for my mother’s birthday, and added a candle to a dessert. The whole experience was very special and I appreciate the care and attention we were shown by our two serves and the kitchen team.

We'd previously been more than 2 years ago to its previous premises in the town centre. It's now the other side of the cathedral up the road from The Fountain Inn in St Thomas Street. Despite being a Friday it wasn't full by a long chalk but this venue's quite abit larger than before. The food remains excellent and the service is good but we did think, once we'd ordered, all the courses came too quickly and we weren't allowed to relax, enjoy the wine and chat. It all felt alittle rushed. The kitchen's open to the ground floor dining room - we've seen this before at other restaurants and sometimes it works but unsure if this was the case here. We appreciate why because the patron/chef Adam Fellows holds cooking demos and it's a nice place to do so. But it didn't add to the ambience or the intimacy of the place which we appreciated at its old venue. One big plus is no loud intrusive music!

They do have a dog menu too so very dog friendly. All food was fresh, tasty and just amazing. My husband had the scampi which again was fresh and homemade (i have a shellfish allergy so didnt try this) and my son had the chicken schnitzel and again amazing taste, fresh products, lovely salad with it and the french fries have a seasoning on which just made them go up another level. All in all i would highly recommend this restuarant as the atomophe/decor is great and the staff were super friendly. Get going what you waiting for!!

Staying overnight in Wells The Fountain was the second place we spotted as we walked into town. The menu looked alright so we walked in and managed to grab the last free table. The service was welcoming and prompt. The focaccia starter was a great choice. But the mains....omg...my husband had the chicken curry and he claimed it was very flavourful, allegedly best that jn a curry house. I had the charmoula aubergine...now, as a plant based person I have tried aubergine many ways over the years but this was out of this world, sublime. I'm not sure how you can make an aubergine this good but I'll tell you it's a strong contender for my best meal of 2025!!! We were starving so we forgot to take pictures to back up the claims. Lastly, very reasonably priced and service is optional, which we opted for as it was a great meal.

Onion rings were a frozen disappointment. Each was less than the size of one’s palm and tasted of grease and nothing more. Overpriced. Girlfriend chose better with a chicken pannini. But I didn’t taste it so cannot form an opinion. Overall, establishment serves its purpose of feeding you, but that’s about it. The character paraded on the walls is not translated to the food.

The food was was very good and at £18 for a main I thought was reasonable value. Four of us paid £120 including service charge. Sunday lunch menu is more limited than the evening menu. The serviced was very rushed and in a panic. Lovely, contemporary and clean environment. They kept their covid safety discreet and waiters were wearing masks. We were delighted that we did. The food is superb and all homemade. We shared the ravioli pasta as a starter, which was light and every bite flavoursome. The Owner/Chef Leigh squeezed us in as he was due a very busy evening. I'm so glad he did, as the food was excellent. We have a fussy child, who promised to try new dishes including the Ham Hock Terrine which he devoured, which is a major compliment! Desserts continued the theme of the rest of the meal being incredibly good, tangerine and almond sponge, Eton mess, affagato and sticky toffee pudding were all seriously well done. Everything about the evening was a fantastic experience, lovely table by the window with plenty of space, service was excellent, our waiters, Jamie and Mark were both perfectly attentive but not too much, very friendly and professional. The food was superb, we had lots of dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The Chorizo al Vino and Empanadas were a great way to start, followed by the steak sampler, green beans, portobello mushrooms, Humita, and thick cut chips (hot, crispy and fluffy, perfect!). The steaks were the best we have had, excellent cuts of beef, well cooked, perfectly seasoned, melt in your mouth tender, nothing left on the plate when we had finished! All the food was hot, well seasoned and good portion sizes. We had the Flan Casero and Churros for dessert as well as a sharing anniversary "pre-dessert" (thank you!). Espressos to finish and that made this, without doubt, the best meal out we have ever had. Service was well paced but never felt rushed. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. High quality bed linen and lovely soft towels. My husband was very excited when he saw the array of beers on offer and had a lovely time sampling several of them - he didn't manage to get through the whole lot, so wants to go back😁 All the staff we met were very friendly but special mention must go to Jan and the lovely lady (sorry I didn't get her name) that did the breakfast. We've been to a fair few places since lockdown has lifted and have noted the consistent rustiness of staff in bars/restaurants. This is NOT the case with The Swan where we were made very welcome and staff were friendly, professional and swift; particular shoutout to staff member Leeroy who went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant. There's ample parking & an undercover area to under sit at picnic benches should the weather turn nasty. There were a lot of us, but the guys at Stakd managed to work though us all & got all of the orders right. The patties themselves are delicious, not overly thick, slightly crispy & really tasty. The burger toppings are all great too, I didn't hear a single complaint from around 30 of us who were there. The loaded fries are really tasty also. My only complaint was I wanted another they were so tasty. Will definitely be returning.
