The food and service were excellent, our waiter was very helpful and our drinks arrived quickly. It had a real feel of a french establishment and we started with a couple glasses of Sancerre. The flavor of the french onion soup was extremely well balanced and I highly recommend their pepper steak (au poivre) which is done with filet mignon. The cook on the steak was exactly what I asked for and you can tell the chef is precise and confident with all of the dishes. The atmosphere was pleasantly subdued, dim and had its own flair, you can tell the reason this place has been around so long is because they have a reputation for success. I think either the manager or the owner stopped by our table to check in on us as well, which we appreciated. We ordered their prawn special and my wife was thrilled with how it came out. We decided to check out the Miami Spice menu. We made reservations and we were sat immediately. The waiter was very nice and helpful. They brought out a fresh loaf of baked bread and a side of warm pistachios. We both decided on the escargot for our appetizers. They came out very hot. They had little flaky pastries on top of them. The escargot was very small. I’ve had them several times but they’ve never been this small before. But they were delicious. As our main entree we both ordered the steak frites. The filet mignon was delicious with a tasty herbed butter on top. The fries were ok. They seemed like previously frozen fries. Not the high quality you would expect at a restaurant of this sort. But, the steak was perfect and that’s the most important thing. For our desserts we both ordered the Bouchons au Chocolat. It was yummy, but honestly it just seemed like a cylinder shaped brownie. They were very small, which was perfect because by that point in the meal you’re already pretty full. A small amount of dessert is all you need, and even then, we didn’t finish them. I usually like to have a glass of wine with dinner, but it was VERY expensive (even by the glass)! The Miami Spice menu was $60 per person and the wines were $30-45 per glass on average. Came here with my two kids for a party of 3. Not busy at all. Tables open inside and outside including a two top and four top outside. They showed us to the two top which was very small for three people let alone three plates. For appetizers, the octupus was perfectly cooked (soft and moist) but the tangy hummus was better with the bread than the octupus. The parmesan beignets tasted more like cheese croquettes. Tuna tartare was aromatic and flavorful. You could taste each ingredient without it being overpowering. The four slices of bread was not enough for the nice helping of tuna. The duck had very small portions with an earthy flavor profile and texture that was displeasing to me. My aunt’s sea bass had dry garbanzos and the salmon dish was only ok. My uncle’s Lamb chops was gamey. For all the nice dishes we ordered, everyone seemed more interested in the french fries that came with my mom’s steak ($52 for 8 tiny slices). The steak was soft and fresh but no real seasoning, my mom didn’t like the mustard sauce that accompanied it. She liked the natural flavor of the fresh beef but that required little help from the cooking staff and had more to do with the purchasing department. There were 4 big individual bathroom stalls at the end of the restaurant to the left corridor that were nicely decorated but no hooks for purses, toilets were too close to the wall (one that had a very scratched up toilet seat). Honestly they should label all the toilets unisex but that is just my opinion for efficiency. Overall I think this place is overpriced and some dishes worked while others were a dismal disaster. I believe the best parts were appetizers. Dinner was barely decent and desserts were nice but not crowd favorites. And the desserts from their bakery (not on menu) were too sweet and heavy. I had a coconut panna cota which was nice but not to be repeated on a next visit.

I am always looking for vegan restaurants and bakeries when I travel and this one was definitely a precious gem of a find. The food was exquisite and the pastries were absolute perfection. The staff was lovely and made the experience even better. Andres and Adriana gave me the best recommendations and I left perfectly satisfied. My mom got two guava and cream cheese pastries even though she only planned to order one and didn’t share with me she loved it so much and I got a chocolate one and the eggs Benedict with crab. I wish I could've stayed in the area to try them all. The whole menu was tantalizing. At the end, I was washing my hands and one of my veneers fell out and the holes in the drain seemed too small for it to fit through. Andres and Adriana helped me look thoroughly for 15 minutes with no luck and I wasn’t even phased because of my wonderful experience. So happy with this place!! Mucho cariño en L’Artisane.
