It was once a bank that has since been turned into a restaurant, but has kept much of the beautiful architecture and charm of its previous occupation. It has a large seating area, bar, and lounge area with very high ceilings, free of excess walls and constraints, and is furnished with a blend of mid-century modern designs and contemporary accents. It’s quite versatile for a restaurant and it makes for a very nice atmosphere to grab a drink with a friend or settle down for an enjoyable meal with family. I have tasted most of the dishes at this restaurant and have liked all of it, and absolutely loved a couple specific ones which I tend to order often. Those loved dishes include: calamari, white truffle garlic bread, Sunday salad, Burro E Oro, pistachio gelato (seasonal), beef tenderloin, and Graminga Alla Salsiccia. I did once order a pasta dish that was quite too salty for my taste - Rigatoni Al Tre Funghi - but it was still delicious and I was still able to finish it. Their service is great - I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes to be seated on busy nights. They have high table top seating, bar seating, lounge seating, a more private area seating option and standard table seating. This is one thing that is quite appealing about this restaurant. You can easily go out to dinner here with a group of your coworkers, or a choose a more private area to have a 1-1 date night. The lighting is dimmer and moody and that is something I enjoy as well, as I do not enjoy overly bright and overstimulating lighting in restaurants. Their utensils, plates, napkins and cups are always very clean and they take extra care to make sure they are. The waiters, waitresses and hostesses are very friendly and kind and have no problems answering questions or giving recommendations. Nostro leans toward the pricier end. If you order a drink, an appetizer (to share) and a simple entree, you will be paying about $50ish for yourself. If you order a pricier protein entree, an app, dessert, and a drink, expect to pay closer to $100. Again, it really depends on your selection and whether you choose to split dishes with the rest of your company. Upon its grand opening, Nostro has been famous for its “Arsenale” which was an ordering option where you were able to taste a variety of items on the menu, on small, shareable plates, for 1 standard price: appetizers, salads, entrees, pastas and desserts, for the price of ~$65. Since they have now taken that option off of their menu, I have not been too tempted to visit Nostro frequently, as I am someone who enjoys trying several small dishes and share them with whomever I am eating with, rather than purchase 1 entree and split an appetizer for the same price (or more!). I do believe it was well worth the price and it is a real shame and disappointment that it was taken off the menu! I hope they bring The Arsenale back soon!! I also wish they were open on Sundays, as this is a day most people tend to be free to socialize over food or drinks and Nostro would be an ideal spot for a nice Sunday evening. The ginormous map of CNY on the wall behind the bar definitely stands out more and has a different glow than its previous life among bland bank furniture. We were there for drinks, which was definitely on the pricier side for the area. The cocktails tasted good and strong. Since we already had dinner prior, we ordered dessert only--a meringue cake. The presentation was great, and the cake itself was delish; however, the frosting or whatever it's called (forgive me, I'm a godless, uncultured heathen) was a bit too sweet. I will definitely come back to try the dinner menu some time. The only downside was that parking, in the back, is kind of terrible. It has limited spaces, especially during the winter, and it's a sketchy area at night.

However, I went earlier this week with a good friend and my husband who had never been there before. My husband had the salmon, which he said was delicious. I will say, the steak part itself was not too crazy to be on about, the pricing was fantastic and I think that the amount of steak you get for the price is phenomenal! The flavor itself, just the steak itself is a little bit lackluster, but if you were to order some sauteed mushrooms and onions and slap her that on top of it, it tastes pretty good! I will say the first time was amazing everything was perfect. This time around not so much. Mozzarella triangles had no taste at all. Little on the burnt side. We went for Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was lovely and the owner is doing rounds and making sure everyone has everything they need. The bar is fantastic. We brought another couple to try out the restaurant. We sampled many appetizers including the oysters (MUST GET, trust me), calamari, antipasto, Italian greens, fried provolone bruschetta. A cosy place that's authentically decorated. The service and the staff was incredible and everyone was so attentive. The food overall was delicious with very generous portions. We arrived at a friend's house from Las Vegas tonight on our trip across country and wanted some good NY pizza and wings. We ordered a large pepperoni, 30 wings and a large salad. Price quoted was over 80$. We cancelled the wings and price over $30. Whoever took the order could've mentioned their special is a large two topping pizza and 30 wings for $38 but didn't. So we called back and change the order. In Las Vegas when you order wings, ranch or blue cheese is included but I guess not here. They didn't even offer to sell me some when I asked if they were included. When we got home and I opened the salad there was a clump of hair and I don't know what else attached to the hair. See picture attached. We called to inform them of this problem and after a few minutes of back and forth because I didn't take my receipt with me. They finally said they would credit my credit card for the cost of the food. Now as for the quality of the pizza, wings and salad, we were not impressed at all. The pizza was okay. The wings were way too salty and too much breading. The salad was average. I look forward to getting home to tell our local pizza joint that their $5 pizza is better than a New York pizza. If you read this I would highly recommend you find another pizza joint or maybe you like having this kind of experience. I was told they would refund me but they didn't so they earn a 1 star.

They had sold coupons on a local advertising site and complain and charge more when one tries to use. I ordered a large one item pizza with wings. I verified that pepperoni and spliting the wings between hot and mild was no additional cost. When paying and using a $10 coupon that cost $5 they then charged for the pepperoni and splitting the wings making the coupon saving almost nil. When I complained they said "you are using a coupon and sving $5 " so what do you care? If this place does not want to honor the coupons then don't participate. These coupons are not free, we pay good money for them. As far as the food is concerned, the wings were good, but the pizza was poor with the dough almost like cardboard. The service in the restaurant was at par level, the atmosphere was a bit dim drab and lackluster. I Ordered an order of long hots and an item on their menu called "the louie". A friend of mine ordered rigatoni with vodka sauce. We sat at the bar for 25-30 minutes waiting for the food. We ordered the food to go as we had plans to watch a movie at home with our meal. As we sat to eat I checked the food. I was outright blown away. The pictures I posted along with this review speak volume. The long hots were $15.95. Two of them came as an order with the smallest portion of whatever stuffing they thought was Italian. Small pieces of sausage littered the flat unappetizing peppers. An overly sweet balsamic glaze was drizzled on the peppers. "the louie" should be renamed to "the fooey", soggy unseasoned escarole with no form of meat, some cherry peppers and a clump of Romano cheese made up this mess of one of our city's staple dishes as dried out chicken lay atop. The rigatoni and vodka sauce came with two meatballs. The rigatoni was overcook and complete mush in the aluminum tray. The vodka sauce was overly sweet and too much vodka was added. The meatballs were raw in the middle as well. Infuriated, my friend and I returned to the establishment and I made it clear to management and the patrons in the dining room that we were served raw meat. I dont know who the cook is in their kitchen, but he could've gotten my friend very sick or possibly even killed her. The owners sister was doing her best to try to keep me quiet as to not let the other patrons hear why I was upset. The cook never showed himself to formally apologize for possibly killing my friend with possible E. Coli poisoning. Being asked if I would like them to make it again or if I'd like a refund I gladly took the refund. Being offered a drink as the owners sister called the owner was easily turned down. The owner never asked to speak to us or formally apologize. To call yourself an "Italian Bistro" is outright blasphemous and disrespectful to prideful Italians that love Italian cuisine. No Italian restaurants I have ever been to serve 2 skimpy long hot peppers with balsamic glaze on them. Anyone that eats long hot peppers, or makes long hot peppers at home know that you stuff the peppers and a form of red sauce belongs atop the peppers. I will never return to this disgraceful shame to Italian restaurants ever again. Shame on you for the lack of pride in your "heritage". I would not recommend ANYONE go to this establishment unless you like to risk your health. Again, I hate writing reviews like this, but when standards are that low and you charge the prices you do it's difficult not to take offense to how you've treated us as customers. You should be ashamed to call yourself an Italian bistro. No self respecting Italian could eat any of the food we were served today. It’s a Very nice place and the food was excellent. The waitress was super nice and helpful. Even the owner stopped by the table to ask how we liked the food. If your near here stop in everything we tried was great.

I always think about their Bolognese, it's the best I've had anywhere, portions seem to be getting smaller( would rather pay a couple more dollars for some more) The Bolognese is the best item on the menu but I ordered it the other day and it was definitely microwaved was very very hot and cold in another spot .They have delicious distinct sauce, but when something is microwaved, it loses flavor and this was the case recently. The pizza is very tasty even though the dough is not the greatest, but it was overcooked also. I will probably just go with the Vodka Riggies next time
