Im not one to shy away for paying a premium for culinary excellence but; this was not. The steak for £35 was honestly nowhere near the quality it should’ve been. To add cheese and no more than 5 medium prawns it cost about £12, this is a mockery if you ask me. The portion was no where near big enough for the price we were being charged. The chips were undercooked which is just unacceptable when paying a small fortune for the service. Speaking of service we had quite a late booking and we called ahead to ensure we’d still be able to eat, they said yes. One of our party was 10 minutes late she insisted on waiting till our last party member arrived to take our order-fine right? No because 10 minutes later when we got our order in she then told us it was too late to have starters and mains, this would of been fine if at the two occasions we had been told this. When calling a heads up would’ve been nice, and when the waitress wanted us to wait for our last person, maybe a bit of thought to how it impacted our order would’ve been appreciated. This is not to say our server wasn’t nice, she was lovely and doing her job, but as diners our experience was impacted hence the lower score. The music was too loud (I’m not a boomer before you come for me) I had to lean in to speak to people at my own table, which after garlic prawns is never pleasant. So to sum it up, overpriced and mediocre, a combo that should never be. I won’t be returning.

After picking out the meat, I gave up — there’s just no excuse for that much sugar in a curry. The biryani was decent — fluffy rice, good texture, not sugary (a small miracle) — but the “sauce” that came with it was… confusing. A massive tub of beige liquid that tasted of absolutely nothing. We genuinely thought they’d forgotten to add the meat. Overall, everything had the strange, smooth texture of baby food and the flavour profile of something that came out of a packet. It’s not like any Indian I’ve ever had, and unless I develop an unexpected craving for dessert disguised as dinner, I can’t imagine trying it again.

Lovely staff, the waitress was trying to make my partner feel welcome by speaking a few words in Spanish, good food & service. Great location near our hotel as well. I'm usually very picky with eating beef but not one chewy bit. Lovely pint of home with Tennant's on draft too. The only thing is the feta salad had too much pomegranate for my taste but apart from that, great value. Come here if you're nearby, you won't be disappointed. Food only up until 8 though.

Pictured is the peri peri fries, now if you are coming here, get them. Triple cooked chips with straggly bits of crispy goodness, these were unbelievably tasty, especially when fresh. The choice of pizza toppings were varied and fun, the Scotsman I got hit the spot, goats cheese and black pudding keemon. Didn’t meet the staff or go inside but we were able to phone in the pizza and they accommodated us being slightly late, so props for the great service. Highly recommend! Loved it, Cajun chunky fries were delicious & cooked to perfection, big portion too. My pepperoni pizza with the veg was exactly what I was in the mood for. We had a smaller wedding and our ceremony was at a separate location but Martin (Smit) had everything ready for our arrival leaving us to enjoy our time with our guests. Our table set up was beautiful again this was done by Martin. Our wedding meal was outstanding (cooked by Chef Rae) as was the food for our evening buffet. Some of our evening guests arrived a little early but they were greeted by Jan who was able to get them all drinks and guided them to the decking area to allow us to finish our meal. Jan was also great with our guests at the end of the night when people were waiting for taxis/buses. Our room (room 5) was immaculate and very spacious. The Piersland holds a very special place in my heart for many reasons and I couldn't imagine having my wedding anywhere else. We would highly recommend Piersland House to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience from booking onwards. Whilst taking the booking over the phone the man was abrupt and monosyllabic. After arriving, we were given a table in a booth that had a Happy Birthday sign hip -? from the afternoon and not taken down. The server (we assumed the same person on the phone) was abrupt, rude and deliberately spoke ridiculously fast like at the end of adverts when they give terms and conditions, and then rushed away. We ordered from the tapas menu and it took 1 hour for our food to arrive and when it did it was not great. The mushroom fried rice was so oily I could only eat half of it. The chicken dishes were all really rubbery and overcooked. The food was clattered down on the table and the serving staff did not smile or offer offer any courteous behaviour at all. None of our empty drinks glasses or bottles were cleared away when additional drinks were brought over and just piled up at the end of the table. I noticed the same happening to the nearby tables. The restaurant was not full to occupancy and a nearby table was left uncleared for the entire time we were there - 1845 - 2115. It was a dreadful experience and we will never be back.

The rooms, spa and restaurants were just perfect. The staff were super welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The rooms are beautifully detailed and with simple things like crystal glasses in the bathroom and bedside to pre filled snacks and drinks in the room. The bed was luxurious and comfortable. Being able to open my room window to hear and feel the sea air is a treat in itself. I loved being able to go from the gym, to the pool, to having treatments to being treated to delicious food al whilst having the full view of the Ayrshire coastline. There’s not a great selection of food for veggies or vegans but the serving and kitchen staff went above and beyond to make adjustments for us and didn’t make us feel awkward at all. The food was exceptional! I booked specifically because they are dog friendly and although I didn’t bring the pooch this time it says a lot about an establishment and will bring her the next time. It’s not cheap and definitely a treat but will 100% be back. Thanks to all that made my stay extra special.

I ordered a steak pie supper. While waiting i heard the ping of a micro wave. They must have been defrosting the pie i think. When I got my order and went back to my car to eat it. The pie crust was inedible as it was brick hard and the smell from the pie was like old cooking oil. The inside of the pie was burning hot and could not eat that either.
