The Chip (as it's known) is a sister business to Stravaigin (another favourite of ours) and it's recently reopened after a bit of a refurbishment. There on Saturday 4.1.25. food ok but the Pappardella not up to much. The glazed beef the meat did taste nice but the sauce ruined it so much so we called for the bill very quickly. We thought it was an Italian restaurant and so it will have Italian dishes along with good service and well dressed staff. But in reality it was totally opposite. These were followed by the roast rump of beef, which was tender and cooked to perfection, and all the accompanying vegetables cooked perfectly, special mention for the hispi cabbage … and the onion purée. We forced ourselves to have dessert…none of which disappointed. Fantastic crème brulle, and a velvety chocolate cremaux, and i really enjoyed the quirky serving of Brie with brioche and onion chutney. On this occassion it was with our family to celebrate my wife and I ruby anniversary. Everything was perfect from as soon as we went through the door. We had a corner table which was ideal for our party. The food was delicious. The crab ravioli was probably the best I have tasted. The service was great too with our server going through the menu dish by dish explaining what each dish was. And, of course to compliment our delicious food with some very tasty wine, the Pecorino is highly recommended. We won't leave it so long until we visit again.

I want a fan of the peach thing with it but that’s just me, my hubby loved it. I loved the fennel (I think it was) Mussels both times = banging This place also does the most beautiful New Zealand sauvignon blanc. My hubby and pal LOVED the mac and cheese with brown shrimp in it and a seafood crust. I had a cheeky taste and it was good (I’m gluten intolerant not coeliac). But the good news for coeliac’s is that they have a GF frier! The only thing these guys could do to excel more and we are being really fussy here, would be: GF DF Mac and cheese on the menu - I think it would be popular GF fish supper / fish fingers - opening the option up to a wider audience Oh and my hubby said he would like more of the seafood crust on the Mac and cheese - like a layered vibe. I think a Sunday roast elsewhere is absolutely ruined for me because the one I tried here almost had me in tears it was so good. We opted for the 10 course summer menu with wines and were so pleased we did! A very warm welcome and with our 4.45pm slot the place was virtually empty on arrival so we were able to choose a lovely spot to sit before being guided through the menu by our friendly, knowledgeable server who was wonderful throughout and keen to chat with us about each course and wine and seemed genuinely interesting in our thoughts throughout. We got married on the first so travelled up to Scotland to visit some family for a "mini moon" and wanted to treat ourselves to a memorable evening out. This absolutely delivered and we felt was great value for money. If I was to find any minor criticism it would be that the music at points really didn't seem fitting for the setting... a wild playlist that rapidly fluctuated between "bangers" to more chilled music. It is such a fantastic idea and totally worth the time and money. We loved all the courses and were definitely full by the end of the night. It was so interesting and fun to try all the elements of the dishes separately to try and guess them and then together to see how everything on the plate works together. Some constructive feedback I would have is that some dishes were a bit over seasoned (too much salt) and I think it's better to go under than over. I also think the chicken breast was a bit overcooked and therefore ended up dry (think it's better to sous vide or poach chicken breast when cooking larger quantities as it's super easy to over cook it). A few tables sat after us could hear the dishes so that may affect the surprise and fun element of the guessing, I think it's better to seat tables arriving at one time together so they find out around the same time or I think it would be better to have the correct elements written down so people can read it when it's being revealed keeping it a secret for others who might be further back. Whilst this is good value at £30pp, the dishes are pretty average, and some are just rubbish. One dish was basically spaghetti hoop carbonara, which is tasty but unexciting. One dish was just a tomato with some spice on top. 2 more courses- the fried gnocchi and the fish risotto- both had next to no flavour so we couldn’t even attempt to guess what they were. The staff also seemed misinformed on what some dishes were as we were told two courses had harissa sauces (despite them tasting completely different). Another of the courses was a single cracker with a bit of cheese… I know we didn’t pay a whole lot for the experience but something a little more interesting would be nice. For £60 for 2 people (plus more for drinks and coffee after) we were left hungry and confused. Also, the drinks menu says they can create any mocktails on request. They couldn’t make a virgin mojito because they didn’t have any lime and they couldn’t make a Pina colada because they didn’t have any pineapple! Finally, it seemed like my table’s service was paired with a group a few tables away. They ate incredibly slowly so we often found we were waiting a very very long time between courses. This then meant the tables round us were eating courses that were yet to come for us, and spoiled the fun of guessing what was in the dish because we could hear the waiting staff telling the tables around us what was included in each dish (and part of the fun is meant to be working out what you’re eating). I totally revoked their pakora, it might be my favourite pakora in Glasgow. The samosa channa special is okay, the samosa is not as crispy as I’d like but the sweet channa is full of flavour, again, big portion. The Punjabi cha is too mild for my preference, wish spice flavour is stronger, the sweet it came with is amazing tho. The whole restaurant feels clean and open, with a counter displaying their homemade sweets and snacks. They don’t have a lot of seating and it’s pretty popular. There were plenty of spaces on big tables that you share with other patrons. The decor of the place was simple but warm and comfy. It was excellent for a relaxing dinner with friends. The food was the real star of the show though, not for a second did I think meat would have enhanced these dishes. The spices and perfect blend of consistencies really built a taste experience from the start to the end of the meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly which is always a big green tick from me. My partner booked for my birthday dinner and it was perfect. Really small restaurant in the west end of Glasgow, but it was packed! Every one I speak to about FT has only good things to say about this place. Portion sizes are decent as well. For starters we had scallops and veggie fritters, which were surprisingly delightful. For mains we had Venison and Duck - both equally tasty. For dessert we had peach and thyme sponge and the chocolate delice with ginger mousse - both unreal. Food was very tasty, i had a steak baquette and hubby had a burger, only one small issue, hubby had side order of garlic mushrooms but said they were not as warm as he would like, he said they were delicious and he ate the lot, portion for 2 I might add. I had side order of caulifour in cheese sauce and it was excellent, I dipped my chips and bread in, it was so tasty. Dessert was Cheesecake for hubby, nothing for me because my eyes are bigger than my belly and I was stuffed. Food appears to be freshly cooked so time between courses is longer, which i was grateful for. Parking was a bit of an issue, it's expensive, I used the ring go app and used the extend feature because we didn't pay for long enough. Will be back to try Sunday lunch.

My first experience was disappointing, and this is what this review was written upon. First, the service. I came in around 7pm on a Tuesday, not busy, maybe three tables of couples. What great value. This place is definitely amongst the best places in Glasgow for dining. The food is great, the atmosphere is great. **Update after our second visit Today we visited Glaschu for the second time. This time everything was very smoothe. The menu was great, a varied selection. We ate from the a la carte menu, however the lunch menu looked great too and reasonable at £20 for 2 courses and £30 for 3 courses. Our food was delicious. I had the lobster ravioli to start and my wife the crab tian, both 10/10! My wife had the venision as a main while I had the butter squash risotto, again delicious. Unfortunately for us it was too tasty and we ate more than we should have. The cheese selection was excellent and included some Scottish cheeses. There is a restricted access to the restaurant where you are required to press a buzzer for access. The starters arrived and looked very appitising , we were very impressed. Again newly arrived diners were seen at the reception and more or less ignored by staff. It was a 215pm booking and the restaurant was pretty empty. The staff were ok, but setting the standards low but when we got seated the chap was keen to walk away and we just about got drinks from him. He did come back with the drinks pretty quick but rushed off right away. Starters we got prawns and then scallops. Both dishes were nice. For mains we got the fish and I got gelecian fillet Med rare. The fish was nice and best part no bones. The steak was pretty decent for the price. It was seared very very nice. As it was my birthday meal the restaurant did give a card. Nice touch. If your reading this far your see why I dropped 2 stars on food. For the price the prawns was a good size but the scallops were really small. I should drop 2 stars we had a stone in the lentils and typically I ended up crunching down and chipped a filling. I did show the staff they said sorry and gave us a free dessert. Not 2 but one. Drinks was a reason I added a food star as they were really reasonable in price. Not a typical rip off with restaurants these days I’m not sure I would return. But would say this place is worth a shot

A lovely restaurant in a nice intimate setting. Courteous and attentive staff, quality decor, great setting. Food was out quickly and of high quality. We had chateaubriand, Scottish sirloin and gallacia fillet. All were cooked well and sides and starters with generous portions. Semi open kitchen which looked immaculate, along with rest of restaurant. One minor point is there was one diner with nut allergy as per booking which was not addressed by staff. Always super busy so we decided to come at 3 pm on a Saturday. They told us 49 min wait but we only waited about 30 mins. There are a lot of people inside and they seat two groups at the bigger tables so it does get a little squishy. It is also VERY loud. Kinda hard to talk and hear each other. But they serve the food so fast and there’s a super quick rotation. We got the #4, #7, #8. All were delicious and al dente which was nice! And you can see everything get made right in front of you! All the pastas tasted incredible and I would definitely go back to try different ones. The only thing is it seemed like everything was a money grab. You get charged (on certain dishes) to add cheese, you get charged for sauce on ice cream (vanilla ice cream is already £4!). The only thing on the menu really is pasta. Was expecting some kind of starters but they only have a few side dishes which are really expensive for what they are. Now I know the place is a pasta place, and they do the pasta well, it just felt like I needed a little more. One small plate of pasta was good but complimentary bread or some starter plates on the menu would have been nice. But if you’re just looking for a little plate of pasta, would def recommend. But I don’t think this is a good place for like a gathering, or bday party, or first date- it’s just too loud, you can’t reserve tables, and people are sat at your table.

Service was really polite and kind. I recommend everyone give the goat's cheese custard starter a try. The coley was superb, and the cavatelli pasta had the perfect mouthfeel. Absolutely nothing wrong with the service or the atmosphere. However, the food we got was probably the worst burger i’ve ever had. Me and my girlfriend ordered the korean chicken burger, top dog burger, togarashi fries, gochujang chicken wings. The top dog burger was wayy too rich for my tastes, tbf it’s my fault for ordering this since it was probably the black truffle mayo that caused the burger to have this heavy smell and taste to it. Korean burger + wings: The gochujang sauce was the worst thing, it was the saltiest sauce i’ve ever tasted. Literally tasted like salt water from the sea, both of us couldn’t finish it cause we were dying of thirst. Would suggest going to a Korean restaurant and trying their Gochujang sauce. The wings were overcooked and dry + batter was too much on both chicken burger and wings Togarashi fries: The amount of seasoning put on was way too much, we chocked on the spices. Overall the fries are really good, generous portion and really crispy. They have an open kitchen, clean minimal decor, nice service. The burgers are a bit pricier compared to other places given that they don’t come with fries, but the flavours are amazing and it’s definitively one of the best burgers I’ve had. They don’t have a lot of seats, highly recommend this place for good burgers!

Just to check the first time wasn't some sort of fluke. Big Counter is one such place. You may not have heard of it, there's no big showy signs, no opulent interiors and its not in a listed building in the heart of the city. And it's better than so many places with all three of those. The hospitality is genuine, the staff all seem delighted to see you, they chat lovingly and knowledgeably about the food and the wine. They want you to have a great dining experience, not because they hope you'll leave a good review or a good tip, but because they seem to genuinely care about their customers. The vibe is laid back, they recognise if you've been before, it feels like a supper club or visiting that one mate that can actually cook and so you and your pals hang out there a lot. The ingredients and the dishes are traditional, tongue, liver, mussels, the best steak Tartare I've had outside of Paris. But this isn't how you'd granny would make it, the dishes have more twists than a Guy Ritchie movie. They are consistently brilliant, with the quality of the ingredients shining through. Bread & butter has never been so exalted. The plate size is all about sharing, three people really should just order every dish on the menu, you'll be nice and full and won't have missed out on anything. The same approach to desserts is absolutely the way forwards. You're looking at around forty to fifty pounds a head if you do this, but with some really good wine available you'll probably spend more. This may well be my favourite restaurant of the last year. Was unsure how I'd feel dining at one large table with others, however as the night went on this eased and you realise you're dining with other's who have a real passion for good food which adds to the enjoyment. I'm not a huge fan of seafood, and the winter menu we got was heavy on seafood, however the way the chefs infused flavours totally changed my perception of seafood. I'd be writing an essay if I had to go through each dish but the best for me was dessert - the Crown Prince Pumpkin was unbelievable. I've no idea how pumpkin was created into a sorbet which tasted like apricot, but it was simply stunning. Glasgow restaurant scene is so good and there's a raft of small plate/tasting menu places, however Fallachan has nailed being different doing this on a large shared chefs table with an open kitchen, really sets them apart for a different experience. I look forward to booking again to see what a summer or autumn menu is like.

Overall it had more great courses than not and would have given a better review but felt a bit of up selling went on what is basically a £400 menu with the wine tasting. Most disappointing was the cheese dish which was £30 for the two of us and I think I have had bigger tasting samples at Costco very disappointing as you can see in the pictures. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable and the concept is great and we meet some lovely like minded people at the table just no need to try and up sale.

The venue was so unusual but really works, was a little worried to start with sitting at one big table with other diners but was really good fun meeting other people and sharing the wonderful experience. The food was out of this world, so many flavours and textures. I loved every one of the dishes on the taster menu and so did the other four people in my party. Is so interesting watching the chef's doing their magic and they explained everything in great detail. They put their heart and soul into every dish. All the staff are fantastic and so knowledgeable about everything from the food to the drinks to accompany the dishes. So much going on, it was mind blowing. The flavour and presentation was flawless. The service was exceptional. Loved the short conversation with chef before service. The waiting staff talked enthusiastically and you were kept well informed all the time. Cocktails were spot on with flavours we hadn't tried before. They were very much part of the experience. This is often overlooked in fine dining restaurants. The communal table was, in our experience, not ideal. We were sat between two rather odd couples. They didn't really make an effort with the vibe of what is expected in that setting. A gentleman sat beside me, who was smoking at least between every course, would come back to the table and blow his last mouthful of smoke across towards me. I really have no idea what he thought he was playing at. With a north American accent he constantly spoke quite loudly how Edinburgh would be better than Glasgow!!! Every course showcasing amazing Scottish produce, incredible flavours and cooking and presentation of the absolute highest standard. Every course that came we thought we had found a new favourite of the night but they seemed to just keep getting better. The service was second to none all evening, the staff where friendly, warm and just made everyone feel so comfortable and at ease. Shout out to the Mixologist, we tried 3 of the cocktails and loved them all. The Byres Colada was a particular favourite. Also a special shout out to Conor. His hosting, personality and vast knowledge and passion for the wines he was presenting was fantastic and he added an extra dimension to the experience. All in all a brilliant evening, hats off to Chef Craig and the whole team. Can't reccomend Fallachan highly enough and looking forward to returning in the near future.

Following a flight of stairs, the restaurant's atmosphere is grand and well decorated, really high ceilings (which my friend wasn't fond of, don't know why).
