We went for the full tasting menu and the accompanying drinks. The staff could not have been more attentive. Quickly the entire room filled up with reservations and the normal chatter of a restaurant filled the air. We came here for the last meal of our honeymoon in Edinburgh and it MADE the trip. We went with the 7 course tasting menu, but also got tempted by the extra cheese course and the extra treats they give you with a coffee makes it a 9!!!! Callum (Sommelier) was incredible and an absolute asset to the restaurant, he was so knowledgable and explained everything so well to us. The toilets are terrible and totally out of place with the restaurant. Not particularly clean and just not nice to be in. The best parts of the meal for me are the sourdough bread and the rhubarb dessert. The sourdough bread starter is seven year old or so. The bread is not too dense with great crunch. For a one Michelin star restaurant, I had very high expectation. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, food to service to wine, all good. However, for a one Michelin star restaurant, I was expecting more - kudos to the seasonal ingredients but one of us had the vegetarian menu and it was just mainly courgettes, quite underwhelming. For me and others who had meat and seafood, again things were tasty and everything was decent except for the portion sizes - I finished the dinner still feeling needing some snacks later on 😭 For the wine, the staff member described it as savoury earthy and somewhat complex but in fact it was a lot more vibrant and simple wine - we tasted it before eating the food with relatively neutral pallets and during dining, so not to judge the wine itself but more for expectation management. The service itself was professional, but not necessarily delightful - the atmosphere there at the time felt serious and unrelaxed, staff member was giving a little nervous vibe - hopefully not because of us! Maybe a thing for most Michelin restaurant because of the clientele it attracts 😅 Would I recommend it? Well, I don’t think it really matters because with the one Michelin star status people will wanna experience it as long as there is the budget for it. Firstly, the service was first rate. Our server Lucy was super friendly, knowledge and attentive but never intrusive. The food came out quickly but we weren't ever rushed. And the food was very, very good. The mezze was inventive and delicious with the cherry harrisa mozzarella and the Baba ganoush being standouts for me. The lamb and haggis skewers were also super tasty. The chicken thighs with batata hara were also absolutely delicious but I would've loved to see them presented whole instead of chopped into small pieces. We paid around £175 for 3 diners which is great value considering we each had two alcoholic drinks and a dessert as well as the set "favourites" menu with with an added Baba ganoush for good measure. The staff were attentive and friendly, and I was offered a beautiful gazpacho on-the-house whilst I perused the menu. This one's been on the wishlist for a while, as it's really popular and we had to book well in advance, but so glad we finally managed to try it out, it was great. We went for the full three course meal, which came to £60 per person, which is fairly expensive, but not too crazy and I'd say the quality lived up to the expectations. I had, fish and crab soup to start, it was rich without being heavy 8/10 lobster (it was on special at no extra cost!) for mains was excellent. I went to town on that bad boy, my mother would not have approved of my table manners but I got every ounce of flavour of that thing, the herbs and vegetables gave it a freshness that balanced the butter, 8/10 for dessert I had the chocolate nemesis which was absolutely phenomenal, light but rich with a depth of flavour you won't get anywhere else, 10/10 Wife had, escargot for starters, classic dish they're famous for, no shells to worry about, and enough butter and garlic to kill a horse, 9/10 slow cooked beef for mains, lovely and tender and rich, very filling 8/10 crème brulée for dessert, despite such a rich main course this didn't feel too heavy, the cream was light and brulée was perfectly crisp, 9/10 As extras we also had, bread and butter, complimentary before our starters, really good tangy sourdough taste, and they gave us extra when we asked for it, 9/10 mixed vegetables, at first I thought they were slightly overcooked, the broccoli being a bit on the soft side, but the rest were fine and the herbs and seasoning on them was very tasty, 8/10 Overall we had a fantastic experience, the wait staff made us feel so welcome, despite being so popular they didn't rush us off our table immediately and we got a good 20-30 minutes extra to finish in a timely manner with a cup of tea.

We came in on a monday night at 8pm for dinner (def reccomend a reservation for dinner), and came into a full pub. We got seated and ordered two IPAs.. as for food we had the smoked salmon and then two fish and chips.. all was DELICIOUS, the beer was great and the food was really tasty, the pub was full so understandibly the staff was a bit rushed, but friendly over all. For desert we had the trifle.. great! We enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned for lunch on our last day in Edinburgh, for starters mini haggis and moules marinière, for mains fish and chips again and sugar pit bacon chop… haggis was amazing! and omg, the moules marinière was to die for, the bread given with it was delicious. Bacon chop was deliciously fatty and in combination with the pinapple nicely sweet. Fish and chips were great too! Not a big fan of the tartar sauce on the side though (probably used to diff tartar sauce from Prague). All of the staff were lovely, next time we visit Edinburgh we’ll stop by.

Served on a sharing board and it was the perfect amount of food, it was delicious! I noticed from other review photo that the beef is quite pink in the middle which personally isn’t my favourite but I asked for the beef to be a bit tougher and it was perfect. The atmosphere was great and the decor was very cosy! I would definitely recommend. Will be visiting again for sure.
