We were visiting from Bristol for the weekend, and after a long drive we thought Wagamama would be a reliable choice, as it’s usually a favourite of ours. Unfortunately, this particular visit didn’t meet the standard we’ve come to expect.
Out of the three team members we interacted with, only one left a positive impression. The service from the others felt unwelcoming, with comments and looks that came across as rude. It got to the point where we had to laugh about it, though it was disappointing at the same time.
It’s worth mentioning that the premises weren’t as clean as you would expect. For example, take a look at our menu’s.
On top of that, there was confusion when it came to paying. We were given the wrong table number multiple times, which added unnecessary frustration to the experience.
We normally enjoy Wagamama and know how good it can be, but sadly, this branch fell short. Until there’s improvement in the service, I’d recommend considering other options nearby.

Really nice bunch of staff at this branch. We always have a laugh, and the service is good. Food is good and usually arrives quickly. The only negative are the toilets - they are horrendous. Need cleaning as well as upgrades/maintenance. The countertop around the sinks is broken and jagged.

DON'T BOTHER! Disappointing and not worth the price. Haven't been in a year, last review was 5/5, this review sadly not. Duck gyoza starter and Duck Yaki Soba main was disappointing, service was meh. Asked for starters and mains to be sent at the same time, they weren't. When we were waiting ages for our mains and enquired about them our waiter said, "Oh yeah I asked for your main to come out later to enhance your experience". What a load of tosh. After our mains service never dropped in to check and we waited so long to order our desserts we didn't bother and paid via the QR code and left. Girlfriend's Hot Honey Chicken starter was the only decent thing we ordered. Her chicken firecracker main had barely any chicken and was just okay. For how disappointing the food, was the price was a joke, especially with exceptional restaurants in Richmond for not much more in price. It's not worth it for me to come back again, and I whole heartedly recommend skipping Wagamama Kingston entirely.

We turned up unannounced for an 11th birthday meal with a party of eight, all of whom were still buzzing after a couple of hours of bowling and a table sorted for us straight away so we could all sit together. The staff were fantastic: welcoming, patient and very accommodating as we tried to get everyone’s orders sorted from such a wide range of choices for both kids and adults alike.
A special mention has to go to our main server, Iza, who couldn’t have done more to make our visit better. She was friendly and attentive the whole time, an absolute credit to the team.
Even though the restaurant was busy, the food arrived promptly and the staff were always on hand and attentive while managing other tables too.
A big thank you to everyone and as a result of our visit, some of the kids have already asked if they can come back for their own birthdays!

I went here with my friend for lunch to eat sushi. We were seated at lower seats, giving us a limited view of the conveyor belt. We ordered water, some sushi, a kimchi chicken salad, and a chicken katsu curry. Unfortunately, we never received our water, and the sushi took a long time to arrive. The chicken in the salad was very dry, but I thoroughly enjoyed the sushi. The conveyor belt was nice, though many options weren’t on it, so we had to order off the menu. At the end, we were overcharged by at least 20% and didn’t get a receipt, which I think should be mandatory. I can think of few sadder things, in the restaurant industry, than going to a YO! Sushi with an empty conveyor belt for a prolonged period of time. Went at lunch time today, very busy, yet the conveyor belt was almost empty. Only one person preparing items. I thought the whole point of YO! Sushi was to dazzle the customer with plenty of food, ample choice, and tempt them with new things. I recently went to the one inside Heathrow T2 and it was amazing. The one in Kingston was nothing like it, and frankly very sad in comparison. Will not visit again. The food was good... but was nowhere to be seen.

Pretty terrible service here. We waited and waited at the door to be seated. There was only one server who clearly saw us but didn’t feel like seating us so we had to call him over.
Once seated, he talked us through how the ordering works. His whole demeanour felt like he was bored of talking to us and annoyed that we were even there.
Me and my girlfriend are vegetarian so decided to order some stuff to the table but he informed us that they didn’t actually have any of the vegetarian options available.
Very disappointed, we went and ate somewhere else.

Beautifully presented and delicious food. Lovely and attentive staff. Great selections and variety on the platters served in good timings. Generous amounts when compared to other sushi restaurants. Drinks selection limited but excellently paired. Cosey environment with a small number of tables (must book in advance to avoid disappointment). I heard a good review about this place and came to check out but was appalled by Tempura udon. The Prawn was cooked not
Crispy and lacked firmer flesh. it was soggy and the tempura coating was more like a rice flour and very white.
The food was way over priced.

We recently moved to the area and wanted to try some new restaurants and this place will firmly be staying on our go to list. The place has great tasting upon and rolls but the big seller was the sashimi. They are fresh and they do not skimp out on size. We got the Obon sashimi set, tempura udon, salon and spring onion hosomaki and the dragon roll. With 2 drinks, this came to £40/person which was very reasonable. I highly recommend this place!

Matsuba on Red Lion Street is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the staff and owner greeted us with such warmth and genuine hospitality — they truly make you feel like part of the family. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.

A hidden gem in Richmond serving authentic Japanese food, set in a modern restaurant. Its about 8 minutes walk from Richmond tube. The bento boxes at lunch was super yummy, every bit was eaten! The chicken teriyaki was spot on with seasoning and not too sweet. Very good quality too. It was so good, we also had dinner there. Tempura 🍤 udon was perfect, with the dashi broth and super crispy tempura. Its not rice flour but good panko, with an additional "crushed corn flake" crust. The tempura roll was good too. The genmaicha was fragrant and perfect for the meal. So good that I bought some when I got home. Service was attentive and fun. All the front of house staff was fantastic, making us so welcome which enhanced the experience of our relaxed meals. Note that all staff spoke Japanese and some patrons too. I will definitely be back to Matsuba next time I am in London. A perfect 5🌟

The BEST Japanese food experience I've had in the UK. Every dish we ordered greatly exceeded our expectations - high quality ingredients prepared by a talented kitchen team. Presentation was beautiful and every single bite was as fresh and flavourful as the last. Tuna tataki was mouthwateringly impressive.
The service was top notch, and we were met with genuine warmth and hospitality from every team member we interacted with. We stayed to enjoy our drinks after finishing our food and were never made to feel like we needed to leave.

Have to agree with the negative reviews in terms of how it has gone downhill on a few factors. Sweet chilli chicken is chewy and salty. Got a mix with sweet and sour chicken which is more palatable. The portion size is ridiculously small and i went for the large which also given the price may as well be an overcharged small. The lady who served me was quite stoic, heavy with the rice and light-handed with the proteins of choice which i paid extra for a mix. I’ve had undercooked chicken twice now. First time I wasn’t sure what it was from but had my suspicions but today confirmed that. I got refund but the manager (assuming) was being difficult. He was picking at my food to show me it was cooked, pointing out that there was no blood remaining.
My problem here is that “blood” (myoglobin) is a good indicator to tell if chicken is raw or not but so is slightly pink chicken with red veins like in this instance.

Upon arrival, the staff immediately gets you a seat. It was the right amount of busy on a sunny Saturday but staff are attentive about our needs. They even give you warm towels to wipe your hands before your meal starts.
Menu is on a pricey side so we didn’t order any drinks. You will understand based on all service, food, and atmosphere combined the reason. It was a great service overall. Although the food didn’t come all at once, which is what I would prefer as I like to see all my food in one place, we didn’t wait too long for the rest of our food.

Went in for some sushi when I was visiting from Saudi Arabia. Really great interior and atmosphere. We were seated quickly with a warm welcome. Waiters went through the menu with us to help us order. We were given hot towels before our meals.

A little gem. Went here last night very friendly nice lady serving us we decided to have the Korean hot pot as we had never tried before and sounded really nice. Had a delicious meal at this small Korean/Japanese restaurant in Surbiton. Had a lovely crisp Korean lager, followed by edamame, kimchi, and crispy sea weed. For my main I had a spicy beef ramen which was amazing, perfect amount of spice. The kimchi was so good that I got an extra portion. The interior was also really cool! My 10 years old daughter had some food at this lovely little gem place in Kinston with her friends and wouldn’t stop talking about it.Today she came home with a little nots and drawing she made to suggest what we should eat for dinner, so we went for a take away and was greeted by lovely guy called Abs. Very professional, friendly and recommended what sauce will go with our meal. We are extremely happy with the service and the yummy food! We will definitely visit again soon. The poke bowl was delicious and there was a variety of bases and tops to choose from.
My kid then chose the salmon sushi, which was bland and flavourless. The takoyaki, on the other hand,was also really nice.
Fluffy pancake was awful because it's like they forgot to add flour!!!! It was egg white with some added cinnamon and then the Nutella on top. That gets a zero! I wish I had complained and gotten my money back 😤

Food: for a restaurant which only do chicken and beer, as their main trademark, it's extremely important that they do these things well. In this case, they do it really well and the fried chicken is not only consistent but also really tasty. The highlight of these was the really hot chicken which had a nice building up spice to it which help whet out appetite!
Service: It's okay. The waiters were helpful when we needed them to be.
Atmosphere: we weren't able to sit inside but sitting outside while a little cold, we got to see other diners enjoy themselves.

Tried Chick&Beer and overall had a really good experience with the food! We ordered the half & half box (half original fried chicken and half honey garlic soy glazed chicken), plus the chili-glazed spring onion boneless chicken and sweet potato fries.
The chicken itself was excellent – juicy, not dry at all, and the glazes (especially the honey garlic soy and chili) were full of flavor. The original fried chicken and sweet potato fries were decent but could use a bit more seasoning.
Service was a little rough — the waiter came across as rude, though it seemed like he might have been the only one working that day, which could explain the mood.
All in all, great food with some room for improvement in service. I’d come back again to try more flavors.

I've ordered takeaway from Chicks and Beers many times before but this was my first time dining in. I have recently been to South Korea and I can say the fried chicken is comparable but not better than South Korea. The flavour is good however the quality of the chicken is not as good as it used to be and not as crispy.
They also used to include the pickled radish but now charge £1 for a small pot. The pickled radish in South Korea is tastier. I would come here again and this used to be my go to but I am inclined to try other Korean fried chicken places as the price has also increased since they do not do NHS discounts anymore either.

We really enjoyed our visit here. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was good too. The honey garlic soy glazed fried chicken was our favourite! Lovely place. The decor is a bit plain and cold feeling but the food was nice. I got some maki and nigiri sushi. Friend loves his deep fried veggie and fried squid maki.
The quality of the fish was good. We requested more salmon on the mixed sushi platter and they did it accordingly which was lovely.

We tried their lunch set menus with some extra dishes. The quality of sushi was beyond our expectations. The raw fish cut portions were very generous and so fresh, too. Skewers, Tempura, and Udon were all yummy. Grilled chicken was especially delicious.

Satori is located at the end of the toy section on the uppermost floor of Bentalls - I actually found it by accident, recognising the name from the previous Rotunda location.
Having not eaten an entire day, I decided to sit down around 4pm for a meal in Satori since I wanted to see what the place was like and didn't really want to wait to get home until I could grab a meal. First impressions - restaurant looks very clean and nice, seating is a little... strange in the front area as the wooden benches are bolted to the floor and slightly tight to get into. Server was very nice and helpful. Even offered to help explain the menu, although I did decline as I felt I knew enough to understand the differences between maki and nigiri etc. If you don't want those seats, there's also the bar-style seats by the conveyor belt.
What I ordered was rather small : 1 order of salmon maki, and 1 chicken noodle soup/miso. The total came out to around £9.35, and for that price you get 4 rolls of some absolutely delicious maki, and a roughly medium-looking bowl of some of the tastiest soup I've had the pleasure of savouring (complete with water chestnut, great-tasting chicken and some sort of leaves - none of that faux-Japanese liquid garbage). All the right mixtures of sweet, salty, and slightly tangy in exactly the right places.
I will say that anybody comparing Satori to the YoSushi downstairs is not thinking straight, as it's like comparing a Lidl to a Whole Foods because they "both sell food". Satori's prices may be a little higher than what I've seen in some places (mind you, the maki is cheaper than YoSushi...), but I believe that's strongly reflected in what you get. The only reason I'd ever drop in to YoSushi anymore is probably because they offer a substantial student discount, however they don't offer a card menu outside of their sushi.
So my overall recommendation is definitely a huge plus for Satori Kingston, in giving me the opportunity to taste some of the best food I've certainly had in a while, and in a good-looking, reasonably-priced location too. If you do plan to go, take advantage of their "5 Plates for £15" offer they do on Mondays. Makes it even more worth going. Will definitely be back, likely with friends! Food quality nice, but not the best Japanese food I had in the area. The look of the restaurant is nice and modern, but the benches are locked to the ground and are positioned in a very silly way. If you are tall or big you wont have a great time. Food is nice, but pricey. Went for lunch and the service was quick and very efficient. One of my favourite Japanese restaurants as everything is very authentic and freshly prepared, there is a very vast menu that covers all aspects that you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. Set up high in the bentals centre, it is a calm haven set apart from all the harsh whiteness of the shopping mall with dim lighting and darker colours. We have been eating at Satori for 6 or 7 years (since they opened). They serve the best sushi (and other dishes) that we've ever had - and we've eaten at many top notch, expensive sushi restaurants (Nobo etc). I'm not sure what all of the negative reviews are about; this is my first Japanese BBQ; I didn’t even know that there was such a thing.
I've tried several Korean BBQ's and the prices for a similar selection of BBQ items is compatible.
When I arrived at around 15:00 on a Sunday, the restaurant was empty; no customers whatsoever, this normally sets off alarm bells but Japanese BBQ... That's got to be experienced.
Our waiter was attentive and efficient, he explained the process of the using BBQ, but I have to admit I did have to prompt him to get the information else we would have had more food stuck to the BBQ grill.
He stated that a BBQ serving was suitable for an individual; I would agree to that if you didn't want any starters or side dishes.
We also added Gyoza and noodles; I think that it was a little too much, I think that a single platter for one is correct if you haven't eaten for a few days.
We chose one selection the chefs choice of mixed meats and one selection of seafood; we ate it all but I felt uncomfortably full afterwards; so much for my plan of a "light lunch".
I will eat here again as I love Korean BBQ and this is on par with that with the advantage of not having to travel to New Malden.

Had both sushi and barbecue and had to say both were slightly disappointing, was initially skeptical about the positive review and the experience really did prove my skepticism. While in London for an event, myself and 7 others needed somewhere to eat, I found this place before we went on the trip and contacted them to see if they would have space and availability for all of us Saturday 7pm. Through all interactions with them before the visit they were very helpful and attentive, and honestly, this was the same when we arrived. I had dinner here in January, everything was impeccable. We had one of the BBQ sets and some sushi - it was all delicious! Even the nori rice. The eel sushi was a surprising favourite for my partner who doesn't usually like eel. The smokeless grill is as advertised - we did not smell at all afterwards. Very good selection of fish for sashimi. Everything was so fresh. Scallops and butterfish / white tuna were my favourite. An order of three starters, two mains, two desserts, and two large plum wines cost less than the average eatery with double the flavour and quantity, not to say the quality wasn’t there as it was, tenfold! Visited for the first time after it came highly recommended as authentic Japanese food. Whilst the food we ordered was tasty, we were slightly disappointed. Always been a massive fan of this restaurant - great food at very reasonable prices. Ordered take away from here multiple times as well. Sadly very disappointed tonight - ordered a crunch tiger roll which was missing the crunch! I phoned to check I had the right order and it looked very different to normal. I'm not going to quibble over the £1 or so I now they charge for the 'crunch' but I was very upset to have the call handler simply say 'thank you' and then put the phone down on me. Not the customer service I've come to expect and made to feel extremely patronised.

Who would have thought a market stall could achieve a five star review? Well this place certainly exceeded my expectations so much so that I tried it for a second time within a few days which confirmed my reason for a five star rating
Here’s what I liked:
• Very friendly service
• Open kitchen so you can see just how fresh and clean everything is
• The food. Tempura Udon is one of the best I’ve had anywhere and a side of tempura prawns. Light, crisp tempura batter, not greasy and plump juicy prawns worth every penny.
What I didn’t like:
• Cash only
It would be unfair to say it had an atmosphere but it didn’t and it is outside so you go here with expectations clearly managed.
Overall I would definitely recommend going if in Kingston but would suggest you attend on a warmer day as you’ll be sitting outside.

Linda was ever so accommodating to us - we didn’t book and the restaurant is only small so I would recommend booking if you want a table, we just got lucky as Linda was super helpful. I ordered after reading many positive reviews and was really looking forward to trying the sushi. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype.
I ordered four rolls. We waited 30 minutes for our order, which would have been totally fine if the food had arrived fresh. However, the prawn katsu roll was cold and wasn’t crispy, and it didn’t taste particularly fresh—which was disappointing, especially after the wait.
The biggest letdown for me was the tuna roll as the tuna was spoilt. The texture was very slimy and the colour looked off—more of a brownish-grey than the usual vibrant red—so we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat it.
The salmon roll had a decent flavor, but the texture of the salmon was firmer than expected.
On a positive note, the service was very friendly.
Overall, while I really wanted to like this place, the quality of the food just didn’t meet my expectations.

What a wonderful little restaurant! Despite having very high expectations due to all the great reviews, my family and I were still surprised at how great this place was. Big fan of their food and usually have a great experience. Visited yesterday at 5pm, the restaurant was empty and we were seated. We started looking at the menu and the waitress asked if we could move to the table by the looks, we asked if we could just stay where we were. At 7.10 she said we needed to leave as they needed the table back, although the restaurant was empty apart from one family and no one was waiting....We said fine and paid the bill. Unsure for the reason for the rudeness but it did ruin what was meant to be a pleasant meal.

I bought a Korean chicken noodle and Katsu Chicken noodle bowl from this store. The portion of the food is not worthy of their price tag, and the worst of all is the attitude of the staff. When I walked in, I greeted the staff nicely but I was ignored. Throughout my interaction with the staff, she has said nothing and only gave me the order. It made me wonder if she was properly trained and if she spoke any English. Had to stroll around to ask to use other shops toilet as the staff in this restaurant was useless and unhelpful- they just kept saying- toilet is broken. I am pregnant and sensitive to cold food and listeria bacteria, so I asked the cashier lady ( black girl , curly hair, skinny body 18:10pm 19/10/2022 ) today if she can heat up the cooked salmon sushi hand roll for me. She rejected,even I saw there is a microwave behind her . After that , I heard she laughed with her college, maybe she think is very funny. I felt like being discriminated because of my pregnancy .
Because of her rejection , I need to choose the red bean pancake. But I really want to eat the cooked salmon hand roll. This shop is not a pregnancy friendly environment. You will not get what you want because of your pregnancy. I like sushi and seafood a lot , but I am afraid I need to change to other restaurants. I feel humiliated . And hope the girl could learn to respect other pregnant women. If you are pregnant and enter this shop , good luck with your purchase.
