I enjoy sweet potatoes and especially sweet potato pancakes so when I saw sweet potato bread I had to have it! Unfortunately this was the worst thing I ordered, there is no sweet potato in it apparently "milk" from it only and the salt on top was too much, sugar would have probably been nice, oh well. Love the freshness of ingredients and how often the menu changes. The kale + collard caesar salad is one I will dream of and look forward to coming back for whenever I'm in northern LA. The miso deviled eggs were delicious although a bit salty. The Alaskan halibut with whipped celery root was DIVINE. The spice crusted seared tuna dish was an interesting dish - great fish quality. Unfortunately, the tiramisu donut concoction that was recommended by chef was far from my favorite and a disappointing end note to an otherwise amazing meal. The donut is extremely bready - not fresh fried - and the espresso + coffee ice cream was lacking flavor. Calling this dish "tiramisu" is misleading as it doesn't really taste tiramisu forward. Inside is more of the old school dining feel. They had a piano player inside who played very well, we could hear him from the patio. Our server was nice and professional. They brought complimentary jalapeño hushpuppies which were very tasty - hot and crispy. They have a decent size drink menu from beer to whiskey. I had the Louisiana Redfish with jalapeño cheese grits. The Redfish was cooked perfectly and the grits were very good. However, $45 was overpriced. It did come with an option of different salads. I chose the blue cheese wedge that had super hard bacon bits and tomatoes. I had a similar meal a few nights ago at a different restaurant and it was $28 (and was actually better). The man had the special veal shank which was served as a stew and it was a very good homey meal - again a bit overpriced compared to other local spots. I really enjoyed the duck wrap appetizer we had. It came on a corn fritter of sorts. The duck had jalapeño and cream cheese and bacon. I ordered the appetizer sampler (pick three items from a list of six items) with Natchitoches meat pies, fried mushrooms, and fried pickles. For my main entree I chose the Catahoula Burger. 1/3 pound patty, bacon, habanero jack cheese, jalapeños, chipotle ranch, tomato, and grilled onions. (I had them hold the bacon). With a side of fries. The burger was delicious, but not very spicy (at least to me, but I routinely eat very spicy foods). The fries were awesome, not too much salt and they were crisp and crunchy! The inside dining area was rather loud, but it’s a sports bar with tvs on the walls and it was a bit crowded too. The outside patio was almost as crowded, but without the tvs and no walls for the sounds to echo off of. Plus there was a nice breeze for our enjoyment along with a view of the bayou. The staff was polite, professional, and pleasant. Our food was delivered after just a couple minutes and the server made sure our needs were met. I am pleased to say we had a very enjoyable lunch at Catahoula’s on the Bayou.

We had 18 people, and she handled us all very well. The appetizers were ok. The BBQ shrimp was the best of the platter. The rakhee shrimp was also very good. The sauce was great for dipping bread in. The banana foster was fun to watch being made and tasted good. The pecan pie was just ok. You are able to look out over the water, and the overall atmosphere is great. And I was really excited to try Braiz'n. However, the pictures of the food were the last great moment. The burgers were forgettable. But the part that made me sad was overhearing the owner talk to multiple guests across the restaurant about the business. It wasnt so much what he said but more of how he portrayed the business state of the restaurant. We have all seen it done on countless episodes of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Takeover shows. The owner knows the place is in bad shape and is looking for customer validation as to what has gone wrong. So to that I'll give them this: adjust your recipes so that the good meat you're selling shines though and ADVERTISE!!! I had no idea that you were even a place til today. According to what I overheard, you've been open since 2017. Side note: your delivery company that you went with is not a local company, their marketing strategies are not centered around your customer base like a local delivery company would be. They are broad based social media platforms that miss your base customer in the area. You might want to look into the Only Local Delivery service in town, because they do a lot more door to door, paper advertising that might help you to turn the place around. Hopefully the owner sees some of this as helpful and not take it begrudgingly. I only mean well because you have a good thing there, it just needs some tweaks to get it back on track.

CANT BE! Went here during lunch ordered in the drive thru, let me tell you the wait was crazy 15 minutes, get to the window and I’m looking at our order sit on the counter along with drinks and the female in the drive thru window just standing there and looking lost! She wasn’t taking orders or anything and I’m furious at this point finally she says the total, hands me the food, as soon as I pull off we check the order and it was not fresh and the fries were not cooked through. It took everything in me to just swallow that little anger and let Captain Ds have that money and go grab something else. This visit could have been better and so could the worker!
