The staff were really attentive and couldn't have tried any harder to please us. Food was delicious and plentiful. The roast pork was delicious and the homemade cauliflower cheese was amazing. Bottle of house wine under £20: very reasonable. Accessibility: 1/10- The roads leading to the castle are VERY narrow with thick hedges on either side of a tight, long winding road. DO NOT MISS OUT on this place but if you have an expensive / wide car eg SUV, park close and get a taxi! It is a very difficult drive up to the castle in terms of it being winding / narrow with rocks on either side at points. We just about got away with no major scratches but we had a very very confident driver. It was quite a stressful / daunting journey up it the castle in the SUV.

It wasn’t fairly busy but seemed to be quite a few staff but slow service. Very easy booking system. On our arrival we were seated promptly. My son decided to have a burger and we were informed that when his burger was due to come out we would be informed so we could go up for our carvery. The carvery was amazing, medium rare beef sliced like steaks and not stingy on the portion size, great selection of side dishes which were well seasoned. My daughter was thrilled she could have more than 1 yorkshire pud. We left completely stuffed with the leftover beef for our dog who thought all her Christmases had come at once! Thanks to Belinda and the team who looked after is so well, We will be back. One request, please introduce a carvery on Saturdays, especially for the autumn/winter months!

There is limited parking right outside, but be careful pulling in and out as it's on a corner, and visibility is restricted due to angle. Medieval themed to the point the staff are even dressed up! There's two floors with tonnes of seats however they are a tight squeeze. 6 of us went on Saturday night and it was really tight with barely any room to move on the table. We would have preferred being seated at a bigger table for comfort of ease. The staff overall were really friendly and knowledgeable. The menu choice isn't very big but a decent range overall although only one vegetarian option (spicy bean burger) we had jalapeno poppers to start which were a very generous size and scorching hot, really tasty! The wedges and blue cheese dip were also chosen, the dip was really tiny though so we asked for another one. We all had a rack of ribs and chicken in the rough for our mains. The BBQ ribs were absolutely delicious! Thick meat, drenched in a really flavoursome BBQ sauce. Highly recommend them! The chicken in the rough though, was exactly that. It looked overcooked and was really dry. Literally needed a sip of drink with every mouthful just to get it down. Wouldn't recommend that unfortunately. Due to the staff being a man down in the kitchen, we had to wait an hour between starters and mains which we know couldn't be helped but because it was so busy in there, we were sat squeezed together, it got pretty hot and uncomfortable pretty quickly. The mead was a nice experience to try, the strawberry flavor was very sickly but the BlackBerry flavor was lush. You can mix it with lemonade if it's too strong. They also provide a small salad bar which had a nice selection of food. I'd recommend sharing one between two of you as the dish size again is generous. Overall it was a really cool experience and I'd definately recommend visiting but avoid the chicken!

I ordered the children from the kids menu their starter etc. We then waited over 40 minutes for the food. When this came everything came at once, the children’s starter and the main corses for us all. They took notice of the request for no coriander on the veg dish too. While we were there for almost two hours, nobody else came and the phone for takeaway didnt ring. All the food was eaten apart from fries and we all lived to tell the tale!

We arrived on a Friday evening, after a long drive, at around 10:40pm. I'd already emailed the venue about our late arrival to and were advised it was fine, and that we should collect the keys for both our rooms from the bar. Upon entering the rooms, we were immediately struck by an unpleasant smell in both rooms - Room 6 being particularly bad. The rooms had a strong damp odour, which seemed to have been masked by a very harsh toilet cleaner scent. Unfortunately, the bedding also felt damp to the touch, both on the surface and inside the bed. There was visible mould on the ceilings in both bathrooms and inside the wardrobes, and the overall cleanliness was poor. We noticed several cobwebs and plenty of spiders that appeared to have been there for some time. The bathrooms felt especially unclean, and we did not feel comfortable using the showers as the grout and tiles looked very dirty. The rooms appeared very different from the bright, clean, and welcoming photos shown on your website and on Booking.com. In reality, they felt dark, dated, and generally rundown. We didn’t feel comfortable walking barefoot on the carpet or bathroom floors, and due to the damp smell, we chose not to unpack our things. Had it not been so late, we would not have stayed the night at all. We left the rooms before 9am the next morning. We were supposed to have two nights at the hotel as my sister was holding her wedding reception there on the Saturday night. Unfortunately we felt that we really couldn't stay a second night, and so we arrange alternative accommodation for the Saturday night. We returned to the venue later that afternoon to help set up the room for my sister’s wedding reception. The event space itself was lovely, and the bar staff were wonderful - the evening went perfectly. We returned the room keys to the manager of the bar that evening and explained that we had checked out early as we were unable to stay another night. We didn't go into details at the wedding reception as we didn't feel it was the right time or place, however I did say I would email. I genuinely think the rooms need some attention, as they currently feel very damp, dated, and poorly maintained. Given the circumstances, we would've expected a refund for the second night (seen as we didn't stay) but we haven't even had a reply back from the venue which I think is really poor customer service.

Our room was lovely, with high-quality products (the shampoo and conditioner were excellent!). The children were thrilled with the swimming pool and had so much fun. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice for everyone. We were even guided to our rooms with patience and care, and the staff were wonderful with our children. This hotel made us feel safe, respected, and relaxed. It’s a fantastic place for families with special needs children, but also perfect for older people looking for a peaceful and fun stay. The best thing about this hotel for us was the service, from arrival until the day we departed we were looked after so well by the staff in all departments, easily in our top 3 best guest service experiences we ever had. Amazing drinks and cocktails made for us from the bar, in the restaurant and from room service. The attentiveness of the staff to ensure we were looked after and made to feel special was fantastic. The breakfast was excellent, lunch and snacks we had in the bar area and lounges were also top notch, even a simple sandwich was delicious. Then the attention to detail on evening meals to make our anniversary feel special was just lovely and we also enjoyed delicious food. We had the honeymoon suite which had the most luxurious bathroom with a roll top bath and a huge shower head in the walk in shower. The decor in the room was really plush. My only gripe and the reason for the 3 stars with our room was the mattress which was awful, lumpy and totally worn out, I did mention this to reception during our stay but nothing could be done about it. Clearly too much honeymoon passion experienced in it. We did go and check out the spa area but it did look more like a local authority leisure pool than a private spa, there we're a bunch of old laides having a aquafit session in the pool. So we didn't use the facilities. Its bang in the middle of Redruth, so there were no nice views from the rooms which isn't a major problem but you would need to travel a fair distance to find anywhere picturesque and thats the reason for the 3 stars. We would definitely go back for the wonderful service and food.

The full cornish was hearty and a decent size, the French toast while presented beautifully I felt had too much berry "compote" (more like watery juice), comparing to other reviewers photos of the dish it looked like mine was prepared a little different. The fish was so horrible even his German Shepard dog wouldn't eat it. These dogs crunch up bones like nobody’s business but it wouldn't eat that piece of fish. My issue is with the lines of text under the illustration. I don’t agree with the first line that the service was fast. It was not fast and slow to point where I considered asking for a refund and leaving empty handed, how I now wish I did. Needless to say they are not the best and Greg and Lou’s just up the road beat this miserable offering by a mile. And they’re expensive so ‘cheap’ cannot be used as an excuse for such hideous poor quality. Maybe the kebabs taste ok but neither myself or my neighbour will ever risk buying from the Crispy Cod ever again. If I could given a big fat zero rating, I would have.
