Went in here with my Mrs and parents while we visited leyburn and we needed somewhere to eat. Me and dad had the black swan burgers and my mum and Mrs had pies. The burgers were huge, tasty and very filling. I struggled to finish. The little share of pie I tasted from the Mrs meal was also very nice and everything was brought out quickly and well presented. For price paid absolutely no complaints. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff too. And dog friendly. 10/10 would visit again

When the food came, my fears were unfounded, it looked good and was delicious, a large portion for both of us, I had a Sunday lunch with beef which melted in the mouth with a home made Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings, my partner had steak and ale pie which was a huge piece and was very tasty, would definitely eat there again. From the outside, the venue seems rather grand so we made the assumption that we would enter into a rustic pub, warm welcome and lots of locals having Sunday lunch. WELL!!! How wrong we was. We entered into the most eerie atmosphere in have ever been in. As we walked in, there was TVs playing, neon signs and not a soul in sight. As if the pub had been abandoned in a hurry. However we continued to walk towards the bar (even though there was no staff visible) hoping that our first impressions were wrong. It is worth noting that the children present also sensed a disturbance in the force when we entered. We eventually found who we assumed to be staff asleep on the seating area in the corner. We took this as a sign to leave and go elsewhere. Officially the most obscure pub i have ever set foot in. Will not be returning.

I sometime find " medium spice" a little tame in some asian restaurants, catering for the European pallete but this wasn't tame, it came with a proper kick and was a gorgeous Rassala Lamb dish, I'd not experienced before. Wait times for food were insanely long for extremely small portions of, flavourless, bland food. 5 drinks cost us over £40. There was metal from a kitchen scourer in the food that luckily didnt do any damage. Staff didnt check on our table unless we called for them. The sharing platter starter was, without exageration, 5 mouthfulls of food. Asked for a house special curry with "all meats" got chicken, very fatty lamb and tiny prawns. They sat us at a table so close to the kitchen door you found yourself interrupted by the extremely loud kitchen staff who not only yell but clatter pots so loud youd think they were throwing them across the room. And despite the tiny portions out food alone was worth half of our almost 3 digit bill for just 3 people. And that was WITH the discounted meal offer. For our complaints nothing was comped and instead they gave us a bottle of wine that we would have got for free if we hhad a 4th person with us anyway per the meal offer. Absolutely give this place a miss.

Staff were really helpful and friendly looking after us. Set menu but also specials on board inside the pub. Between us we had Thai chicken green curry (nice and spicy). In previous years, we would have booked a table and taken her out somewhere special. We thought an Afternoon Tea from a local business would be an OK compromise however, it was SO much better than that! The food was beautifully presented and wrapped with a Happy Birthday sticker and ribbon - thank you - that was a lovely and unexpected touch. The food was delicious, so much variety and choice. Everything was fresh and there were plenty of cakes and sweet treats - more than we could eat, so some left for Mum to enjoy the next day. The little quiches were my own favourite. It was a lovely way to celebrate and Mum was thrilled with her birthday treat. It was excellent value for money and we shall be ordering again next time we visit.

I rang before we left home as its an hour drive from us to check they were open for afternoon tea. They confirmed they were and reserved a table for us. On arrival our table was ready and laid in preparation. We had afternoon tea for 3. The selection of sandwiches were excellent and freshly prepared. They were 4 savouries and 4 cakes per person and 2 scones with jam and fresh cream per person. All served with enough tea and coffee to sink a ship. Totally disgusting. The majority of our group had ordered this and a high percentage were not eaten. One was sent back to the kitchen as was cold. Pudding was Syrup sponge and custard and can be described as dry sponge served in pool of luke warm custard, best described as a school dinner pudding, at least they were hot! The meals had all been pre ordered so why have only 2 members of staff bringing 2 starters each from the kitchen, When it got to main courses we were down to one member of staff bringing one meal out at a time! Shocking service right through. Why the 3 members bar staff didn't help serve these meals to get them out who knows!!! Was it chefs night off or is their chef incapable of producing a decent meal? When it came to paying before any complaint was made, we were given a £10 refund on all those that had had lasagne's, so even the staff serving the food could see how terrible it was. Very peaceful .easy going Hotel superb..quiet .extremely clean..lovely shower + shampoo etc TV,hairdryer & tea & coffee making facilities,. Lisa, breakfast organiser..just gently accommodated all our dietary needs .nothing too much trouble..lovely dining area & beautifully set up. Very reasonable.. Co op just down the road.
