And good value. The fish of the day is a fine chunk of sea trout. The skin is crispy and the flesh is not dry. The miso (?) butter beans are stunning. House-smoked Sea trout rillettes for starter. For instance, we had to top our own water up, we had to ask what the dishes were that we were being served and no one thought about giving us our coats at the end of the night - we had to ask several staff. The prices paid at a restaurant like this, you just can’t switch off - which sadly happened on this Saturday night. Any other restaurant I wouldn’t care - but a Michelin restaurant I expect more. Food - was lovely and very tasty. There were no flavours or combinations that I thought were life changing. There was no amuse-bouche - but the cod and beef were nice. The flavours of the cabbage side with the beef was the most memorable. The wine list was fine - however it is served to you on an iPad which did kind of ruin the ambience of the dinner to look and scroll on an iPad. Ambience - lovely old building - but again I felt there were simple wins that were missed. Staff didn’t split the tables up, so while the restaurant was only half full, they sat us all next to each other and left half of it empty which was odd. The music was also random. Billy Joel, modern pop and not what I would call background music. Lastly, these restaurants tend to be for special occasion destinations. For us it was our 11 year anniversary. When you tell staff they usually make a fuss, or plate your desert with happy anniversary written in chocolate or something random. While it may feel naff - it is important to remember that restaurants like this specialise in ‘special occasion’ dinning. Again, even while knowing it was our anniversary I couldn’t help feeling a bit unloved because nothing was done to make us feel special at all. Not a big deal, but again this is not a normal restaurant, which is reflected in its price. And then the bill came out with a £59 tip automatically put on it (15%). Looking at the snack menu and the beer on offer I knew we had come to the right place. This place is very good. The starters were full of flavour, made with fresh ingredients and wonderfully presented without being over the top. The pasta was cooked beautifully, the sauces tasty and not too heavy. Our daughter had a bowl of plain pasta with butter, the Mrs and I finished it off and even that was lovely. For the next course I got the duck Wellington, it was really disappointed by a raw chewy duck. after sending the dish back I was corner to order the fish dish since “it was the faster to be prepared” with a curry sauce, nothing especial. For the service after I send the dish back (that I did in the must respectful manner) change so much, it looked like they didn’t wanna to come back to us and the restaurant was probably at half capacity. I was really looking forward to this one after reading all the positive views.tge good stuff first: Large Yorkshire puddings that were nice, crispy roast potatoes that were a little hard in the middle but the crispy outside was delicious. 2 of the staff were lovely, very attentive, honest about dropping our dropping and this being why it took so long to be served (can't hold that against someone, everyone makes mistakes and having the integrity to admit it to customers is a very good and rare thing.) In the end, it took over an hour after the meal to get the dessert. We ordered the buttermilk pancake stack with vanilla ice cream, honey drizzle and cherry garnish. We had to take it away as the day was far spent when it arrived. It was packed in a lovely takeaway bag. The pancakes🥞 were nice but it was a shame the cream had melted when we got home. I would just love to leave a positive review for her service as she was also incredibly informative to our two friends who are also vegan, informing them of recipe changes that made their order no longer suitable and suggesting alternatives. We have travelled Turkey quite a bit and experienced the majority of Turkish Restaurants in the North East of England and this has to be the best overall. We booked our table and were greeted by the owner Sertac who showed us to our table and then took our drinks order and looked after us all night. To start we ordered the cold Mezze platter for for two with some chilli sauce, Turkish bread and additional olives, as there was three of us. These were all so good and to be honest we had some left over which we put to one side to have with out mains. Unfortunately we started eating this before I got the chance to photograph it as it looked so good. For our mains we had Chicken Shish, Karisik Shish (lamb and chicken) and I because I was so full I ordered some calamari and potato skins. Sertac also presented with some additional Chilli sauce which had just been made. Sometimes when you order Shish the restaurant can over cook the meat and it is very dry and not enjoyable but both of these Shish were amazing and cooked to perfection, huge chunks of meat and succulent. The Calamari was in chunks rather than rings and was not chewy at all and even the potato skins were sprinkled with a pepper which just gave them a something different as opposed to plain potato skins. We were all stuffed but Sertac presented us with a piece of Semolina cake to share which was nice but to be honest we preferBaklava we but couldn’t have ate anything else. We finished our meal with a Turkish tea, Apple tea and I had the Raki which was the good stuff not a cheap brand. At the end of the meal Sertac shared some time with us to exchange experiences and was a perfect end to a perfect meal. Thank you Sertac your hospitality and food were amazing. We will be back.

The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated quickly and easily. The lady that seated us was very helpful with the menu explaining what I could have that was gluten/dairy free. That unfortunately is where the good service ended. This lady dissapeared and we were left with some other servers who didn't seem present unless the kitchen called. I had to ask for a sauce that was missing from my starter, the starter dishes weren't cleared before the mains arrived, and when the mains did arrive I could see my 'raw slaw' sat at the kitchen waiting to be brought over but after 5 minutes I got up and retrieved it myself. There was no staff to be seen. The kitchen staff were apologetic but this is the first time I've ever had to do this at any restaurant. It felt like they shut at 9.30 (as they kept pointing out to people) and were only interested in getting cleaned down and out on time. The only time we did get prompt service was when we finally saw someone and asked for the bill. This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant without leaving a tip, but a tip is for good service which we most certainly didn't receive on this occasion. The food however was very delicious and the first member of staff we dealt with was very helpful so thankyou to her.

We’ve walked passed loads of times but always ended up eating elsewhere. Today we decided to give it a go. Wow - why have we gone elsewhere in the past?!! We came on a Sunday and we got told half an hour wait which I didn't mind as I knew the food was lovely and worth the wait. Delighted with our meal. 3 adults, two teens and a toddler in our party of 6. Staff were very welcoming and provided some toys for our toddler. Our Drinks order was taken very quickly and they arrived promptly. Food took around 30 mins and all seemed very fresh and homemade, not cheap freezer type stuff you get in a chain. All hot, good cooking and a good variety of pub grub (steaks, pie, fish and chips etc) as well as a few interesting specials, lots pizza and pasta and some seafood on menu. I believe the owners are of Italian background and the pizzas a couple of us had were fab and seemed freshly prepared from scratch. We felt the price was very fair and good value given the quality of the food. We tried to do a walk in at 6.30pm but it was very busy as a Saturday night so had to come back for 8pm, so a fair warning to others to book in advance! On a final note I would say it might be nice if they offered some lighter options for those with smaller appetites on their evening menu. The portions were very generous and a bit overwhelming for one of our party who didn't need something as substantial. Overall though a fabulous meal with very attentive service and a nice atmosphere. Table was not ready or prepared for our arrival and thus were still putting it together when they took us to the upstairs room, despite it being booked 3 weeks before hand. Waited half an hour for the starter and then another 50 minutes for the mains to be served, by which point it was nearing 10pm. I walked through the downstairs of the restauraunt several times and it wasn't busy, there were enough staff to wait the tables but some were seemingly wiping plates......yet no one attending to customers upstairs. There was no communication from staff, the young waitresses were run ragged. You want to be respectful to the staff, had requested to speak to the manager 3 times to raise concerns around the wait and some issues with the food being served and have still yet to. In the end I had to cancel my main meal because it was too late at night in which to eat a large dish. I'd noticed the other similarly large parties were waiting quite some time for their food to be served, speaking to a guest at another table....2hrs for their mains to be seved to them. When some of us got our mains it was served piecemeal, with dishes and side plates missing. It could naturally be addressed if there were staff around in which to ask, or if there was communication from the staff. The food quality itself was inconsistent, some of the dishes like the onion bhajis were sublime, the prawn cocktail was laced with too much vinegar and below in the photo is supposed to be a "king prawn butterfly", having compared against how its made in other restuaraunts seems to have been made half hearted. There were a litany of failures this evening, no communication from staff, inconsistent food quality, no drinks order taken, lack of preparation for bookings with a large party, complete ignorance to customers in the upstairs rooms. In short I would recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Giuseppe himself answered when I phoned in to make a reservation, and was so gracious when I phoned again later on to let them know we were running slightly late. We had both heard great things about the place and as a birthday lunch, we thought it's the perfect time to go. Nothing short of amazing, from starter to desert. I love a rare/blue steak, but find very little places can offer that way of cooking outside big steakhouses, but my word, by far the nicest blue fillet steaks I have had. It was cooked to perfection, so much so the price just didn't seem right (under £17) when most places charge £20+ to cook it in the way they like. My partner had the calamari for starters, which again, cooked amazingly, none of this frozen out of a packet rubbish. The service itself was amazing, super friendly, and really she couldn't have gone out of her way more.
