I ordered a full sized Niçoise Salad, and as the generously loaded plate arrived, I thought, "Well, this will make a lovely lunch tomorrow, too." But bite after bite, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up eating nearly all of it. Really, no other words will do it justice. I cannot recommend Crane and Pelican enough for events. I reserved the restaurant for a reception dinner and was totally blown away, especially by the incredible staff and owner. Several guests have mentioned how beautiful the night was, and the event was truly memorable. The staff totally worked their butts off to make it so. I could go on and on. We hadn’t been here for years. Note we are fans of Verde, Ruthies, Duck City. My romaine salad still had the red end on it. The salad was good but not worth the price. My husband enjoyed the garlic salad. He also ordered the lamb chops. He said it was tough, almost like jerky! My scallops were TINY and overcooked. When I roll up on a new spot, I usually order a burger! I was not afforded that opportunity this evening! I ordered 3 shots of Patron, and they kept coming on 🧊, no matter what I asked for! The place was busy, and the servers did their best! When I suggested we move the tables so we could all see each other, I was looked at like I had an appendage growing out of my head. But they made it happen! There's a picture of my "medium" steak the next day, which I tried to reheat in my broiler, to no avail! Spent the next 24hrs on the toilet. I bet it's a great spot for a burger and a 🍺 during daylight hours! I read a previous review that said, " it was hard to enjoy fine dining with AC/DC on the radio!" I was not afforded this luxury! Stevenson's had great reviews and so I had to have the experience for myself; and boy was I glad I did. Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was just as great. It was flavorful and my only complaint is the cabbage leaves need to be cut down a little. I could not finish the meal. It went in the trash and I ordered a Rueben from the hotel restaurant to replace it. 09/04/2023 update. I had a visiting German friend make authentic Laberkas for me for a comparison. I have added pictures for review. The blue check paper is the restaurant offering and the plated and pan is what laberkas should look (and taste) like. The plated is fresh out of the oven and the panned is fried laberkas. Good luck to the owner. However, I will not return.

Myself and my friends used to love the shuffle puck table upstairs and the various old arcade cabinets. We also liked the $1 beers on Wednesdays at the time, as well. I've visited this location in LeClaire far fewer times, if just for the fact that it's further afield from home than the Moline location. It is, however, very close to my commute to and from work at this point. This particular Bierstube is relatively new. I remember when it opened in 2009-2010ish in this location. That newness can still be felt - the booths and tables still look relatively new, the bar doesn't look worn at all, and the flags of many nations still hang colorfully from the open plenum ceiling. The floor is a solid concrete slab, and the HVAC ductwork is plainly visible throughout the space. It's a nice little place on the river, I enjoy it. I wasn't really feeling alcohol on this night, but I still opted to dine alone at the bar. I ended up getting a burger and fries, something I know from experience Bierstube does really well. They were out fairly quickly and I soon tucked in. The burger was especially great - I got it with bacon and sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms are better than any I've had on other burgers in the area. I'd highly recommend you try these if you like such burgers. The fries were similarly fantastic. Bierstube does them right - adequate crispiness on the outside, plenty of fluffiness on the inside. There were honestly some really great fries. I'd get these by themselves. They also have a pizza buffet in the afternoon during the week. Went here for dinner and the next day we stopped in for a pie to go so we could eat it on the rode during our trip back home to WI. Now that we know this is a franchise we found that there is a Happy Joe’s in Green Bay. I will review that when we head up there.
