Food was beautifully served but very small portions and not as good as other restaurants we had eaten in during our stay . We looked at a few restaurants on the harbour before opting for Cavo D'oro. We were met by the owner Pedro's who was very amicable and offered us a couple of options for a table. We sat outside as it was a nice evening, overlooking the harbour. We perused the menu opting for a bottle of pink blackbird Rose with bread and tomato and olive oil dip and mushrooms in honey. Firstly the mushrooms in honey were generous in portion size and delicious but the real highlight was the Sea bass for 2. We were not disappointed it was moist, flavoursome and complimented by the lemon sauce and array of veg and new potatoes. All in all the meal and dining experience was a delight. Der Service ist sehr nett, zuvorkommend und wir haben wirklich sehr viel gelacht! Am zweiten Tag bestellten meine Schwester und ich die Fischplatte für 2 Personen und meine Mutter das Rinderfilet mit Kartoffeln und Pfeffersoße. Auch alles sehr lecker. Preislich waren es normale Preise. Und im Hintergrund lief griechische Musik was wir super fanden. Zum Anschluss haben wir noch Raki bekommen (nicht wenig) und einen Nachtisch. Sogar der Limoncello ging aufs Haus! Zum Schluß tranken wir noch jeder einen Cocktail und einen Metaxa. Schade das wir so ein Lokal nicht bei uns haben, wenn wir Spaß haben und viel Lachen können geht man besonders gerne hin!

As expats but living in Athens, we try to find local rather than touristy places. We were so disappointed at some highly reviewed tavernas in town, but tonight we were so pleased. This place gives you all Greece offers, authentic, high quality, great value and hospitality… we wish we have found it earlier. The best meal in Crete for two trips from Athens so far. The generous amount of seafood appetizers platter and grilled fish were fresh, tender and perfectly cooked. Children enjoyed their fish burgers and pasta.
