The Lowry is a renowned quayside building that features two theaters and galleries showcasing the works of LS Lowry and modern artists. The gallery boasts an extensive collection of Lowry's famous "matchstick men" paintings, depicting industrial landscapes and everyday scenes from the North West. In addition to his paintings, the gallery also houses an archive of photographs, press cuttings, and exhibition catalogues associated with Lowry.
The Lowry in Manchester is a striking cultural venue combining modern architecture with a varied programme of exhibitions, theatre, and performance. The gallery space is well-curated, especially the permanent L.S. Lowry collection, which offers real insight into his work and life. The theatres host a mix of touring productions, comedy, and local performances, and the seating is generally comfortable with good sightlines. Staff are helpful and the space feels accessible and clean. The nearby quays provide a pleasant setting for a walk before or after a visit. It’s a worthwhile destination whether you’re after art, a show, or a quiet coffee with a view.

such a great theatre, extremely accessible, the seat sizes are a life saver with the amount of old theatres i have been in! six was also such a good show, and i feel as though it fit perfectly with the purple theme in the lowry. my mum and i had such a lovely time.

Excellent touring production of Chicago. Brenda Edwards fantastic as Mama Morton, a powerhouse vocal performance. Lowry theatre very accessible as a wheelchair user. Level access to ground floor which has theatre, bar, restaurant etc. Toilets easily accessed ( although could be cleaner) and excellent step free access to all levels of the theatre. Staff were numerous and very helpful.

Very, very good venue. The quayside theatre is very small and intimate, but holds a good crowd. We were there to see the "Ideal" stage show (which was absolutely brilliant) and it was a great trip. Two minor issues were that it was unclear when the doors would open, leaving quite a few people like us standing outside in rain and wind, which was not Ideal (see what I did there) Also the toilet roll dispensers are utterly dreadful, where you have to try and pull it out of a very tight opening and it invariably tears close to the holder. You know the ones I'm talking about... The rosé wine is delightful...

We booked tickets to see the Quentin Blake exhibition. It’s free to enter though, possibly to control guest numbers. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly chap who said we will be seeing the Lowry 360. Wasn’t sure what it was, but we were led into a theatre and watched a 6 minute video of the famous Lowry painting of fans going to Bolton Wanderers football club! We highly recommend you do this as the video brought the painting to life! The video filled all the walls, ceiling and floor and you became mesmerised into the painting! It was brilliant!! We then saw the rest of the Lowry paintings and then saw the fabulous Quentin Blake illustrations! I’ve read many books as a child with his illustrations and it was fascinating to see them close up!

Fab venue, great buffet/bars, lovely stage and comfy seats. The surrounding areas also offer lots of shopping and eating options and other attractions like a museum or the BBC.

Visit to the Lowry today amazing experience we started at the 360 Lowry experience where they have brought one of LS Lowrys pictures alive, it was awesome for 6 minutes your transported amongst the picture with matchstick people and animals walking around you. Amazing I would highly recommend Lowry 360 after you can walk around the gallery and look at a huge collection of his works plus there's some of his personal items. All for zero cost so be generous and put a little coin into the collection boxes. There is a cafe, restraunt, bar and a well stocked gift shop plus toilets in the building. A big thankyou to Neil who we met as we entered extremely sociable and explained everything we felt so welcome what a credit to the Lowry. If in Manchester it's a must place to visit.

Went to see La Bohème here. An excellent venue for the opera. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of leg room. The performance was very enjoyable. Highly recommended to pre order any interval drinks as there can be a long queue for the bar and the interval flys by. Parking is available for a reasonable price at the nearby multi story. Dinner is also recommended at the pier 8 restaurant which is within the same building as the theatre. We had a very enjoyable experience.

Ordsall Hall is a picturesque Tudor manor house located in Salford, Greater Manchester. The Grade 1 listed building offers visitors the chance to explore period rooms and exhibits, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens and an orchard. History enthusiasts will appreciate the rich historical background of Ordsall Hall, which includes its reputation as one of Greater Manchester's most haunted buildings.
Having wanted to visit this building for some years and having never quite got round to it. It was typically Sod's Law that we were in the area and on a day when it was shut to the public! However, externally this beautiful real Tudor grade 1 listed building and surrounding gardens did not disappoint. Complete with knot garden and a grazing wire sculptured horse. One day I shall return to peruse it's interior and buy some of it's plants.

It is a great place to explore only minutes from Manchester city centre. The hall is free to visit though there is a small charge for the car park and visitors are encouraged to leave a donation towards the upkeep of the hall. As well as the hall, the gardens are beautifully maintained with a wild flower meadow in the moat surrounding the hall. Craft events are often hosted here, and there are some rooms available for small meetings. If you're looking for somewhere different to spend a morning or afternoon, Ordsall Hall definitely fits the bill.

We came to visit last week and had a lovely time. Sue, a volunteer, was so helpful and gave us lots of help and information. So thank you to Sue! She really was brilliant. Will definitely come back for a visit again. It is free to go in, which is great, and donations really help to keep this hidden gem open.

Beautiful Tudor Hall in the midst of a housing area fairly close to media city - unexpected. Ground floor has a lovely small cafe and stupendous Great Hall. Upstairs has various exhibits and some fantastic videos. Watched one on the slum clearances of Ordsall which was fascinating, There is also a pretty knott garden. Entry is free although donations are welcome, the staff are really friendly and helpful. Ordsall Hall is a community, rather than a museum. We need to go there again soon.

What a fantastic place & for free!!! There is an optional donation which is £3 per person but it is worth it. My daughter now 10, nieces 12 & 15 absolutely loved it. From the ghost stories to the dressing up…that even I participated! 💃 is brilliant! There is a very creepy doll in the attic a few hundred years old (didn’t want the image on my camera 🤣 too superstitious! ) Lovely orchards & gardens, very well cared for. The building is beautiful, It’s very informative & interactive, well worth a visit with or without children. Each floor has a lift if needed & toilets. The staff are very helpful, friendly & knowledgeable. We were last minute able to get on to the clay workshop as spaces opened up. It’s an extra £3 per person, which wasn’t too bad but I think they could have done with more tools for cutting out, stencils etc. The little onsite cafe is cute, averagely priced, I had sourdough toast & a double shot cappuccino & that cost £6. The little shop has a few bits & bobs, what I did like is that you can buy apples & lavender bags and pay what you feel is fair. I love that 🫶 On site parking available, I paid £2.60 for 3 hours. I think you can park local & walk but double check that. Outdoor tables for your own food or bought from the cafe. Lovely day out for the summer holidays ✌🏽💛 Absolutely recommend here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great little oasis in the middle of Manchester/Salford. Really nice and knowledgeable staff and more than happy to help. Definitely recommend Ordsall Hall for a great day out AND ITS FREE!!

Excellent place to visit, it's right in the middle of new buildings and houses so it looks odd lol but it's a cool place to visit. The Café is cheap and staff are excellent.

This magnificent Tudor manor house is truly a hidden gem, offering a chance to step back in time. The best part? Entry is free! • History & Architecture: The building itself is stunning, and its rich history is brought to life inside. In each of the meticulously restored rooms, you'll find cards that clearly explain how they used to be like, giving you a vivid glimpse into the past. • Family-Friendly: They have a couple of activities for the kids, which is brilliant as it allows adults to look around and take in the history whilst the children are entertained. • Gardens & Relaxation: The gardens surrounding the hall are very big and meticulously cared for. I love this place because you can always visit simply to relax, offering a peaceful escape from the city right in the middle of it.

Museums
Salford Museum & Art Gallery offers a mix of permanent and temporary exhibitions, including Victorian art, a street mock-up, and a local history archive. The University of Salford Art Collection presents new works by various artists in the Hybrid Futures exhibition at the museum. This project explores different perspectives on climate change through the personal experiences and backgrounds of the artists.
We had a wonderful visit to the Salford Museum and Art Gallery. It’s such a great way to introduce local history to young children—my 5-year-old was completely fascinated! He especially loved exploring Lark Hill Place, the recreated Victorian street. Seeing how people lived back then, from the shops to the old-style homes, really brought the past to life for him. The whole vibe of Lark Hill Place is immersive and engaging—perfect for sparking curiosity and learning in a fun, hands-on way. Highly recommend for families!

A really enjoyable visit! Amazing art on display. Very helpful and friendly staff. The Victorian Lark Hill Place was brilliant. There is a lovely little cafe inside and great park just behind the museum to take a stroll around. I will be taking another visit soon

Beautiful and impressively huge building set just above the very pretty Peel Park. So much to do here! A number of gallery spaces including both historical local artists /paintings and also up to the minute contemporary exhibitions. Great museum to with part transformed into a time machine: go back into Salford's past with the lovingly recreation of a Victorian street 'Lark Hill Place' with genuine shop fronts and historical objects and belongings staged inside to give you a real immersive experience of what living in Salford was really like. This is a great family experience that the children will love! The museum also has a chic and expansive cafe with views of the park and a cute little gift shop with items made by local artists and craft makers. A really enjoyable day out to be had here and so much to see that you will need several visits to take it all in! I visited in the pouring rain and even managed a jaunt around Peel Park afterwards and even the weather didn't dampen my spirits, it is such a great day out!

Stopped on our way back from a trip to visit the Victorian Street. It was dressed for Halloween and absolutely amazing. Despite it being fairly small, there's lots to look at and it's so well kept. I chatted to a staff member while I was there, who was absolutely lovely and told me about how the street came into being. Unfortunately, we didn't visit the galleries as we'd been travelling for a while and were tired, but it was worth our while for the little street alone. Rounded off a perfect Halloween weekend 🎃

This small museum has so much potential, and my favorite is definitely Lark Hill Place! The extraordinary experience of holding a lamp to explore this small site is brilliant! You can dress up and immerse with the atmosphere, what a fun! And don't miss the display table at Victorian Gallery. I've learned some fun facts from some items from the lovely staff.

I went with my 4 youngest grandchildren, aged between 2 and 11. They all had a great time looking at the old shops and houses. It was made more special as they were all given lanters and gars to wear while walking around. The fortune teller was hit with the older 2 and the fire station was a hit with the younger 2. It was a massive hit with them a dnus, and it was free too!

Went with two children (5 & 1) and had a really enjoyable day! Free entry, wide range of exhibitions with a mixture of heritage and contemporary displays. The Victorian street is great! Cafe has a good selection and offers coffee for 20p if you bring your own reusable cup. They let us eat our packed lunch here too which was very helpful with a baby in tow. The could do with a bin being available for guests in the cafe though. My spawn can be messy and I always try to clean up afterwards. Limited parking outside the front of museum - Paybyphone - £2.70 for up to 3 hrs. Peel park is a stones throw too.

MediaCityUK is a vibrant waterfront destination located in Salford Quays, Manchester. It houses TV studios, a tech hub, bars, restaurants, and a shopping mall featuring popular fashion brands. The area offers stunning views of the local tram system known as Metrolink and Deansgate mainline station. This site is home to renowned media organizations such as the BBC and ITV and also features world-class sporting and cultural attractions including cinemas, theatres, and galleries.
It's very nice to have a walk along the canal. There's a good amount of public benches to sit on. It's usually peaceful, especially on a warm sunny day. The area is kept pretty clean. Even when walking past the food and drinks outlets, there's no rowdiness, everyone looks chilled out, no shouting, fighting etc..not like the old days.

Amazing place to visit, lots to do including cinemas, food eating places, activities to do with your children and plenty of places to shop. I would highly recommend a day out here! Or you can visit a show hosted at BBC/Dock IO, for more information you can search up applause store. These supply some FREE and some paid TV events. Loved my day here with the crew, can’t wait to return.

A business park, focused on media production, such as TV and radio. Apart from all the corporate buildings there are places to eat and drink. Its an interesting place to be, if you're a tourist, as it contains corrie, 1% club, the blue peter garden and much more. The wide open spaces can look a bit stark, but it's set around redeveloped quays and docks. If you're not coming here for work, there's not much apart from the previously mentioned.

MediaCity UK is an incredible place to visit, work, or simply explore. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of modern architecture, waterside views, and creative energy. Whether you’re here for a BBC or ITV tour, working in the tech/media industry, or just grabbing a coffee by the Quays—there’s always something happening. What I love: • Vibrant & scenic: Beautiful riverside walks, fountains, and plenty of open space to relax. • Great food & drink options: From casual cafés to stylish restaurants—lots of variety. • Events & lights: It really comes alive at night and during events—feels festive and inspiring. • Easily accessible: Well connected by tram, train, and even boat! Perfect spot for professionals, families, and tourists alike. Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, MediaCity UK offers a unique mix of culture, media, and modern lifestyle.

Restaurants: The Alchemist, The Botanist, Wagamama, PizzaExpress, Pret, Starbucks and Costa, etc. The Lowry Outlet Mall: Not the best mall but worth having a look while you're there. Imperial War Museum North: Admission is free Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area

The Manchester Art Gallery, established in 1823, is a treasure trove of art spanning six centuries. With over 25,000 objects including paintings, ceramics, furniture and more, it offers a diverse collection from ancient Egyptians to the French Impressionist movement. Notably rich in Victorian art and Pre-Raphaelite pieces, it's a must-visit for art enthusiasts.
We found the museum very welcoming!! Happened upon the museum and their FREE TOUR at 3 pm, we couldn’t be happier! I recommend a visit with a tour, you’ll dedicate an hour and see the museum highlights while learning so much more!! The lil cafe was cute and a good place to stop as well.
Thomas B — Google review
So much historic and cultural art pieces you can spend hours on end getting captivated/inspired. I would recommend arriving early enough to enjoy all the galleries. We arrived at 3pm and it wasn't enough time (closes at 5pm on Saturday) to enjoy the full gallery experience, luckily its free entry so we will likely return.
Jamie H — Google review
Great place to visit when in Manchester. Brilliant art installations on display. On the second floor, to the rear, you will find the Lowry art display and several others. It looks as if they continue to add more installations in the gallery which means that repeat visits might still be mesmerising. The gallery is well laid out and has two entrances. There is a cafe, shop and toilet facilities on site. Free entry. Thank you Manchester.

Such a great gallery, I highly recommend coming along, like many galleries and museums in this country it is free! The interior design in some parts is as impressive as the excellent artwork on display! Lovely place, definitely go!

Easy to spend a couple hours here. Great place to go if the weather is bad. Please make a donation as entrance is free. A good variety of old and new, and pieces relevant to Manchester.

I LOVE that it is by donation to enter! My love took me and I’m giving it 5 stars because one of the greeters named Helen was delightful and so helpful. We really enjoyed talking to her. Thank you for your kind assistance in finding what we were looking for. God bless 🙏🏼

Wonderful visit. Really like the way they haven’t put the exhibitions, which encourage you to engage. It’s also free. Highly recommended. The cafe is a bit of a disappointment though.

Interesting gallwry, i thought it would be bigger but i there was a wedding/party being held in part of it so it was closed off. Interesting exhibit about history if fashion which was very good and left me wanting to go shopping as it turns out othing really goes out of fashion. I voukd habe easily have worn what i saw there. Lots of interactive stuff with one artist encouraging you to express yoursekf eoth your own drawings which was quite unique. There are places for the kids to draw at little tables. There appeared to be a lot of toilets and after the first three... Yes... three toilets were out if order but i eventually managed to find one upstairs. I wonder if this is done intentionally to stop people from just randomly coming in off the street to use the toilet only . It was annoying but being in manchester city center i guess its understandable.

Bar
Formerly known as Lime Bar and Restaurant, UNAGI Bar is a vibrant establishment located at The Lowry Outlet Mall, offering an eclectic menu featuring locally sourced produce. Situated opposite the Lowry Theatre, it's a convenient spot for theater-goers to enjoy a meal or drinks. With a large outdoor terrace overlooking Salford Quays, patrons can savor their food and beverages while taking in the picturesque views.
We went for dinner here yesterday after a long day at a conference we were attending. Great decision! Friendly and professional staff who greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. One mark of good restaurant training is when they get back to you at some point to ask if everything is OK with the food, which they did. There was a bit of a delay getting our bill but it didn't really matter as we were enjoying our time chatting. I ordered the spicy squid for starter -- it was one of the best ones I've had (and I love squid). Perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, crispy and tender. Good portion size too. For my mains, I had The Spider sushi, consisting of soft-shelled crab and avocado. Delicious and filling! Their poke bowls are great too. Beautiful plating as well. They both have western and Japanese and Japanese fusion selection. Highly recommended!

Great place! Bar service great, booked a table requested a booth, but too busy, At table service, waiting a little longer than normal, but expected as busy, had mushrooms on sour dough, fish and chips, grandad hot dog all foods spot on!! Second visit, slight change in the starter mushrooms, missing few bits from last time, shame....
Nick B — Google review
We have visited three times since foodunagi has joined and this place started to offer the best sushi in Manchester. The food is always outstanding in this place their cocktails are absolutely delicious, my favourite is the lychee daiquiri 🤤 however the service is not that great. The aim of this review is to say that they have dramatically improved since our first visit so I have high hopes for this place to move from 4 stars to 5 soon. Currently there is still work to do, expect delays on food and some missing items but in my opinion as long as the waitress inform you about this beforehand like they did on our last visit is the key to good service. First visit- no attention, no side plates rather rude service we have raised this. Second attempt massive improvement. And on our third visit it was almost perfect. They waitress was kind , funny, apologetic but mainly she was keeping us up to date and gave us options. The manager was extremely nice, acknowledged all the issues and even offered additional discount as compensation. He also had a simple chat with us and when the business is busy that's what really appreciated the time he dedicated to us. That one minute be dedicated to us was very appreciated, and showed good customer service skills. One thing if the restaurant read this review is to work on the time when customer asks for the bill. On every single occasion we had to wait a long time and if someone is asking for bill that means they are ready to go and don't want to be wasting their time sitting around, it's frustrating. Overall happy with the place because they seek to be the best and improve. Highly recommended
SomebodyFeedKaz — Google review
Good service and variety of food prices are good as well, we tried the sushi and the crispy pork belly which were very tasty, even in a match day the service was pretty fast which honestly was unexpected in a very good way. The burger was really tasty the right size
Ronald G — Google review
If I compare this to other places it was on the pricey side for what we had. However, the food was tasty and the cocktails well made. The waitress was lovely and provided an excellent service. I wouldn't personally return to the restaurant as I believe there are nicer places. It was standard enough to pass on expectations.
Collette C — Google review
We had our first visit, and it certainly will not be our last. Food was really tasty, service was excellent and the atmosphere was good, having football on the screens helped with the younger and older guests in our party. Would highly recommend
Neil B — Google review
Absolutely terrible and would never return! What a waste of nearly £100!! After a terminally I’ll diagnosis recently we were looking forward to our trip to the theatre. Im a believer in supporting our local independent businesses and saw online that this was an independent local business that supports local suppliers. We arrived and were greeted after a few minutes by a young lady waitress who showed us to our table. She gave us menus and I saw online they did a pre theatre set menu so asked for this. She said she ‘didn’t know if they were doing them today’ and went away what I thought was to check. While we’re waiting we noticed that the menu given was totally different to the online menu and I mean the main menu now no the pre theatre menu ( as we hadn’t had that yet). So I was a little dismayed as I had like a coupon dishes in the online menu and was looking forward to that. We noticed after waiting a little while that the waitress who was going to check on the theatre menu was showing other guests to their tables and taking orders, so she must have completely disregarded us. Yet again we asked another young lady waitress about the pre theatre menu and she went away to check and brought us it a short while later. As it turned out there were no vegan options on the theatre menu and so we ordered from the main menu. Everything seemed to be going fine and then our appetisers were brought out. As they were given to us the waitress (who was very nice) said she had made a mistake and our mains were ready now also can she bring them out? I was firm and said no as I have a disability and have swallowing problems so eating takes me a little longer and so it would be cold. She said ok and went away. Appetisers were very nice. The mains came out and my daughters Vegan burger must have been kept warm from when it was made in error as the fries were cold, the vegan cheese slice was all dried up also. My wife’s burger was dried up, the fries were cold and the chilli was cold. I firmly believe they had been kept warm and they expected us to eat food made in error by the establishment. We asked for the meals for my wife and daughter to be re made and then after a grudgingly look they took them away to make them. The lady (another different waitress), asked if anyone was warm to take off the plate and eat it whilst she asked for the rest to be re made. 🤬 My sons and mine sausage and mash was cooked fine. No cutlery was given with the mains so we had to ask for it. The re made food was brought after a short while and my wife and daughter started to eat. They said the food wasn’t nice at all and the establishment is quite pricey (which is fine for quality food, which we expected). As my daughter ate her food she noticed that where we were brought in, the gap we came through with our wheelchairs (myself and my son are disabled) had been filled because they had put another table there!! They were a couple dining on the table. My daughter asked a waitress why they had put a table there and how were we to get out? The reply was ‘Don’t worry about it they can just move to let you past’!! We asked for the bill and they had added nearly £10 on the bill for service charge?! My daughter asked why and is it optional? She was told ‘Yes it is optional and she could remove it if we wanted’. My daughter said yes as service had been terrible. It should never been added. The bill was just over £90 and I’m sure the other chain restaurants could have provided superior food and service and so will not return again. We then had to go and ask the couple dining could they just move a little so we could get out. Very embarrassing! In summary: Online main menu doesn’t exist! Service poor! Higher price for sub par food! Hype of the impression given online does not match the dining experience!

Modern British restaurant
Pier Eight Restaurant is an elegant and upscale dining spot located in Salford Quays, offering modern British cuisine in a contemporary setting with ample natural light and scenic views. The restaurant, along with its adjacent bar, provides a total of 300 covers and serves two distinct menus - a casual dining bar menu and a formal menu within the restaurant.
The staff was welcoming and friendly. A good small menu but completely understand keep things basic and quick service ahead of theatre showing. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Full of flavours and well presented. Quick service and reasonably priced.

We went for a gig at The Lowry and thought we could have a nice experience having a meal here. Bad choice. I ordered a steak pie and got nothing but a chopped teeth. The pastry was hard as a rock and completely empty, no a single piece of meat or even gravy! The best in that plate was the mushy peas and that is high compliment. Avoid eating here. It was highway robbery.

**5 stars - Absolutely brilliant!** Just had the most fantastic lunch at Pier Eight before catching "Dear England" (seriously, bring tissues - what a show!). We'd booked for 11:45 and honestly couldn't have asked for better timing or better food. The staff here are absolutely lovely - the kind of people who make you feel like you're dining with friends rather than just grabbing a quick pre-theatre bite. Genuinely warm, professional, and clearly love what they do. Went for the 3-course set menu and every single dish was spot on. The mackerel pate was a perfect starter, the lamb was cooked beautifully, and the Swiss roll? Well, let's just say I'm still thinking about it! Add in those gorgeous views over the Quays and you've got yourself a proper winner. If you're heading to The Lowry, do yourself a favor and book a table here. The whole team has got this place running like clockwork, and it shows. We'll definitely be back!

Food was delicious and service was great with friendly staff. We went for a pre-theatre meal, it was served quickly, but you didn't feel rushed (so you were done in plenty of time to get to the show).

Fantastic pre show meal on the three courses for £35 offer. Delicious tasty food, excellent presentation and would come back.

We had a lovely two course dinner. The starters were lovely and a good portion size. The main courses were brilliant with lovely flavours and lots of choice for different dietary requirements. The dinner was delivered quickly with time for an extra drink before the show. The waiter was lovely and the service was quick with no complaints.

The Black Friar is a revamped tavern in Salford that has gained attention since its reopening in 2021. Situated on the corner of Blackfriars Road and Trinity Way, this two-storey red brick building offers a genteel atmosphere with outdoor seating.
Came here on a Sunday for the roast and it was delicious. I had the vegetarian roast, which was a cheese and onion pie with all the usual trimmings. The pie was so good, fluffy pastry and a really rich creamy filling. They also made me a very dirty martini, which was spot on. Mark our server was super attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We visited for sunday lunch with no reservation and it was well worth the hour we had to wait for a table. There was a cosy spot by the fire where we were sat with a drink before moving into the dining room. Staff were super friendly. All three food courses were excellent, especially the pork sunday lunch. The wine we had was good too. I recommend you book a table in advance!

The whole experience was a dream come true! Since the booking of the table to secure our Sunday roast during our staying at Manchester, until the closing of the bill. The environment is amazing. Very welcoming, comfortable and the Christmas decoration add a special touch to the meal. The staff is so friendly and devoted to turn the experience into a nice moment that we felt sad to finish the meal. The menu is a perfect balance of well choose classic ingredients done in perfection. I wish we could swim in an endless pool of the gravy and use the Yorkshire pudim as a boat (hihi). The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect end with the complementary drinks, sweet in the perfect measure. Special thanks to Mark and Victor, who were such good fellows during our whole experience and helped make this a memorable Sunday on our travel.

Sunday Roast was so yummy and good value for money comes with so much trimmings!! The roast beef was so flavourful and you can even get a pie w trimmings. The anchovy toast was also really good, all the components mixed well together curating the perfect balanced bite. The service was also impeccable, we were served by Mark and he was really helpful with choosing what to eat and he bounced off our table well. Bonus their homemade soda is really nice would recommend

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Black Frias! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, and the food was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A special shout-out to our lovely server, Mark, who truly made the afternoon memorable. He was attentive without being intrusive, had great recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcome. His friendly personality and top-notch service took the whole experience to another level. If you’re looking for a place with amazing dishes and exceptional service, Black Frias is definitely the spot. We’ll be back soon!

We had such a lovely Sunday lunch here! It’s a cosy, gorgeous pub with great atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Sunday roast — perfectly cooked with crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy — and my partner had the steak, which was spot on. Our waiter Xavier was outstanding. Friendly, attentive and genuinely caring — he made the whole experience feel special without being over the top. Everything ran smoothly and we left feeling really looked after. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be asking for Xavier again!

The atmosphere was amazing. What they’ve done outside of this pub is fantastic. It looks so Christmassy and really drove me into wanting to go in, thinking it would be a great Sunday dinner. Unfortunately, we got there about 3:30, which was the time we had booked a table for. We were asked to wait at the bar for about 15 to 20 minutes, which was fine. The service at the bar, the maître d', being seated, the waiter at the table taking our order... everything, I must say, was fantastic. ...Except for when the food started coming. We ordered the starter: "HOT SMOKED SALMON + KING PRAWN COCKTAIL" When the dish arrived, it was just prawns of different sizes (small prawns, big prawns, and then big king prawns with the heads on, which were very fiddly to eat). There was no hot salmon with the dish, so maybe that was left off? I then asked for a a bowl to clean my fingers in because I’d handled the prawns, so I had messy fingers. I was given a bowl with hot water and lemon. The hot water was scalding, but I guess they’re not used to giving bowls for washing your fingers. Then the main course came, and I was quite disappointed. The chicken was dry. It also had feathers on it, and that’s just a major issue. It just shows that the bird had not been prepared properly and was quite disappointing. I had half a chicken. The breast meat was chewy and not nice. It felt like it had probably been cooked early in the morning and then left out or on a hot plate or something. The roast potatoes, again, were unevenly cut. I had two or three small ones with one big one, which was almost... again... not well prepared to eat. Also, the crispy bits were chewy and crispy, and the rest of it was just solid potato. The rest of the components on the dish were OK. The gravy was a bit watery. Red cabbage: fantastic. Mashed potatoes: fantastic. We were given complimentary cauliflower cheese, which was nice. Overall, the dish looked like it had a few components that had been prepared earlier in the day. By the time we got there, unfortunately, they were just below expectations and not nice. If the food was as good as the customer service, then this would be a 5-star place to go to.

Had a lovely meal here with my family and dog to celebrate my birthday. We went on a Monday around 4pm and sat in a corner of the pub area which was super cosy and warm thanks to the fire and radiator. The staff, especially Victor, were attentive and welcoming and accommodating to the needs of my disabled Mum. I also had my large dog with me and they gave him treats and some cuddles. The Christmas decorations are gorgeous and we loved writing out the letter to Santa too!

The Ivy Spinningfields Manchester is a chic venue that serves classic English cuisine and cocktails in an elegant setting. The establishment boasts a signature style, with The Ivy in the Park featuring a terrace adorned with foliage and potted trees, offering a menu of warming specials and expertly-mixed cocktails. No35 Mackenzie Walk provides an all-day dining option, known for its brunch menu and stunning south-facing waterfront terrace. Additionally, nearby Humble Grape is worth mentioning for its wine bar-cum-shop.
We had a very bad experience with the Ivy in York in 2023. This is the first time we are back to The Ivy for a meal, but in Manchester, and it is amazing. We can’t describe how good this is. The food is amazing, the staff our waitress she is absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful time with the Ivy in Manchester. Next time we are going to try the restaurant upstairs The Ivy Asia. We had the British Icons menu, only for Monday to Friday, it’s a good deal, £34.95 for three courses meal and one glass of champagne, how good that is. My fish and chips is good, but personally I prefer lightly battered than this hard battered, but the fish is still good. I also tasted the Shepard Pie, that’s so so tasty. I like to cook, and this is the cooking I am talking about. Well done , the Ivy Spinningfields Brasserie Manchester.

I have always enjoyed dining at The Ivy due to the very welcoming nature of each and everyone employed there. The design and deco is like being in an art gallery, every space evokes your imagination. The customer service of Rodger was above par, even created a custom made hand wipe using a serviette, hot water in a beautiful kettle and fresh lemons because no hot wipes were available. That is excellence in customer service. Amelia was so welcoming and very helpful with navigating around the breakfast menu, making ample suggestions to my dietary needs. The reception staff who are the pinnacle of any restaurant were dressed in a very presentable manner and were very approachable and accommodating especially as it was a walk-in. I would highly recommend dining at The Ivy, Spinningfields, Manchester and would also recommend the rooftop terrace and the Asia Room. Prices are not excessive of places that are in Spinningfields and every area caters to your needs.

Our first time dining at the Ivy. A very busy and classy restaurant. Cocktails to start, they were very good. The ambience was also very good and the service was excellent from our server Sophia, and we were also looked after by Andrew on the evening. They were both tentative and knowledgable about the suggested dining options. The sea bass was very tasty and the burger was excellent. Thanks also for the lovely surprise profiteroles to celebrate our anniversary. The food was lovely and prices reasonable. We will be calling again.

The restaurant has lovely decor and has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly. We visited to try the Downton Abbey experience and was honestly left disappointed. The menu bore no resemblance to the Downton Abbey, and the meal wasn't that great. The meal was overpriced, and some of the steaks had loads of grisle and they didn't have all of the side dishes available. Overall I was sadly disappointed especially considering it was for a special birthday celebration.

Didn’t expect much because the place looked super fancy but the fries and sweet potato fries were insanely good. I couldn’t stop eating 😋 The vibe was chic and fun, the food was amazing, and the staff were so kind. It did get a bit noisy, so not the best spot for deep conversations, but for good food and a good time, totally worth it! (Highly recommend making a reservation!)

Visited on a Friday early evening, took the lift to the third floor Asian restaurant, quickly shown to our table by our server who was very helpful and knowledgeable. We chose a selection of items which all were delicious and amazingly presented. The food and ambiance are highly recommended. We will definitely be returning.

The Ivy Turned My 45th Into Pure Magic (and a Bit of Hollywood!) Celebrated 45 years of surviving on this planet at The Ivy with ten of my favourite humans — and honestly, I’m convinced this place sprinkles magic in the air. The food? Outrageous. The service? Michelin-level sorcery. The staff? So good I wanted to adopt half of them. But the real star of the night was Mr Hollywood — and let me tell you, the name fits. This man didn’t just serve us… he hosted us, uplifted us, entertained us, and basically gave me the kind of VIP treatment normally reserved for Beyoncé or actual royalty. I’ve never felt so special — or so convinced I should have my own entourage. He made it one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had. Truly a credit to The Ivy (and honestly, if they don’t protect him at all costs, I’ll start a petition). The Ivy has been with me through good times and not-so-good times, and every visit feels like coming home — just a much fancier, better-fed version of home. Thank you to everyone — but especially Mr Hollywood — for making my 45th feel like a Netflix special. I’ll be back the moment I turn 46… or sooner, because I miss the food already. 🍾✨

Beautiful restaurant, the staff were amazing and did such a great job at catering to all our needs. I had the duck salad which was delicious. Drinks came quick and we didn’t wait long for the food to come out.
