Pub
The New Oxford is a traditional pub located in Salford, Manchester, offering a rustic atmosphere with memorabilia and outdoor seating. It's known for its monthly beer festival and is popular among locals and beer enthusiasts. The pub boasts up to 18 cask ales on tap at any given time, along with a variety of bottled Belgian and continental beers. Additionally, it features a function room for football viewing and has garnered praise for its friendly staff and large selection of reasonably priced beers.
Fantastic pub. Extensive back bar with lots of whisky, multiple guest ales and some of the best Guinness you’ll find outside of Ireland (although the head in one of my photos was slightly to big, it was still superb). Sport on the tv, but doesn’t distract from the craic. Staff always quick with their service. Really good.
Pete W — Google review
Living in Salford since 2018. Decided to finally pop in on the walk home. Didn't know it was an Irish pub judging by the whiskey selection behind the bar. Great to see. However I'm knocking 2 stars off because we aren't in Ireland and they aren't serving cask via sparkler. Shocking scenes. Go down to London for that stuff. London prices too.
Simon O — Google review
Spoilt for choice of beer here (and also Sports channels) - check the boards to see what’s pouring. If in doubt the knowledgeable bar staff will assist. Well worth seeking out - only 5 minutes from Salford Central.
Mark N — Google review
Beautiful spot for some quiet drinks with friends and family, so far have had a great experience with the staff. Especially Sally who’d let us stay long after close to get us more drinks, excellent effort to make us enjoy our experience at this cosy pub.
Joel H — Google review
Lovely traditional pub in Salford. Amazing selection of beer from keg cask and bottle. If you’re into belgium beers you’re in luck. Friendly service. Outside seating. A short walk from city centre. Recommended. 🍻 🇧🇪
G T — Google review
Had a terrible time ordering myself a drink. Personally don’t know much about Ales so I asked the lady at the bar counter about the best selling ale so I could give it a try. However she was the most rudest bar attendant I have ever met. She said she can’t suggest as she doesn’t know my taste and all of them are best sellers. Extremely disappointed. Never going to visit them again.
Melroy D — Google review
Whilst the range of beers was good here, including unfiltered moretti which is fantastic, it is more expensive than it should be for a pub outside the city centre. Unfortunately, I was also served a bitter that had gone off slightly and upon letting the staff know they claimed it was fine. It wasn't undrinkable but would be the kind of beer you'd expect being sold at 50% off. This left a sour taste in my mouth (pun intended).
Matthew H — Google review
Loads of tables outside and a large choice of beers. Bartender was nice and chatty and had some knowledge of the whiskeys. Loads of tables to sit on outside. Atmosphere was none existent. I imagine it's better when there is a match on.

Pub
The Kings Arms is a historic 19th-century pub located in Salford, known for its vibrant arts and entertainment scene. Upstairs, the venue hosts live music, plays, comedy shows, and various events such as festivals and poetry evenings. The large spaces have also been used as artists' studios for the past decade. The pub attracts a bohemian crowd and prides itself on being more than just a typical boozer.
One of the best pubs in Manchester! Has a wide variety of beers and ciders to choose from, the staff are incredibly friendly, the interior is very cosy and beautiful and it also has a cute little beer garden for the sunny days as well as an upstairs floor is usually hosting some kind of event! We had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back! 10/10
Sophia P — Google review
Great traditional pub with a good range of drinks. Friendly staff & a warm atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit for a couple beers. I've not been in while the live music has been on but can imagine this would be a brilliant venue. I will be calling in again very soon.
Tom H — Google review
Fantastic, nay legendary Salford pub with a fabulous warm friendly atmosphere. Managed by a regal black and white cat called Charlie.
Steve R — Google review
Came across this pub when trying to find somewhere to enjoy a bit of craic on a Sat night. Was close to the hotel so figured we'd give it a go. It was busy and there was a comedy night upstairs. Everyone was very friendly and the prices were great. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because I had to go online and create an account to buy tickets to go into the comedy show even tho I was there - they had no way of taking money from us directly; and the ladies wcs were very compact and doors insecure. But we had a fab evening !!
Anne N — Google review
One of my favourite pub in Manchester (yes it's actually Salford, I know), but friendly staff, good variety to the pints, best pub quiz in the city and the most reliable pub cat ever.
Martin B — Google review
Came here as Fresh Meat (Channel 4 show) was filmed here! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Had a few drinks very reasonably priced before going for dinner 🥰
Bella — Google review
Good small cozy theater for local theater projects! Went for a play here and would like to go back for more. However bar staff could be better with customer service. Felt like they didn't care about the orders and they were too busy talking to their friends. Bathrooms are horrible.

Pub
The Old Pint Pot is a lively pub that embraces the traditional British pub atmosphere and overlooks the River Irwell, offering an outdoor terrace for warmer days. It's popular among Salford University students and hosts various events like open mic nights and comedy clubs. After a recent refurbishment, it now offers a menu featuring burgers, grills, salads, and a separate vegan menu. The pub also serves an array of beers on tap and classic cocktails at affordable prices.
OLD Pint pot is a great place to be , located by the river side view on Salford University road. There is the outdoor and indoor spaces that services your desire at all time. You also have a private party area with karoke nights and live bands on set every other week. A visit will thrill you.
Taiwo L — Google review
As a friend had a voucher for 30% food discount, we popped in here for lunch. The pub opened a little later than it was supposed to. I chose the Ultimate Southern-Fried Chicken Burger, which came with fries. I didn’t get all the dips mentioned, and the whole meal was nothing special at all. In a word, serviceable.
TFT — Google review
I’ve been coming here for 30 years, it was the Adelphi back then. It’s changed hands many times and they all seem to have great ideas for the place that come to nowt and it’s a shame. it has so much potential but is just being left to go to pot really. It has a great outdoor beer garden overlooking the river but it is shabby and weed ridden. When the students have gone home for the hols it is quiet. The food is basic. We come here for the beer garden tbh, hope it keeps going but just wish someone would invest some much needed cash into the place for a do up, it could be amazing!
Mel B — Google review
It’s just a really good cheap pub, no thrills but it’s a good size, got a great outside area (not done up but comfy enough to sit in the sun) really good for casual day drinking without breaking the bank.
L B — Google review
The atmosphere with the staff is wonderful! Quiet but reasonably priced for students alongside locals. Haven’t had food. India is very lovely as a member of staff! Very much enjoy quiz nights too!
FamilyPriest — Google review
I don't like posting negatively so I'll start with the good stuff. Location is fantastic, outside area looking over the river which is idyllic. Staff were friendly and helpful, good choice of drinks. We ordered food and I wish we hadn't! The steak was asked for as medium and it was inedible, chewy and very well done. The chips were dry and also over cooked. I would definitely recommend going here and having a drink particularly on a nice day sat outside but I'd eat before/after visiting.
Noel T — Google review
Good was acceptable as was the drink. Staff shortages lead to two people covering the bar, kitchen and tables. A mix up over the lunch deal led to desserts being charged at full price instead of £2.50. Eventually after many apologies the problem was resolved amicably .

Pub
The Dockyard is a trendy ale house with an industrial-chic vibe, featuring exposed beams and serving craft beers alongside artisan pies. The menu offers a variety of dishes such as pies served with fries or mash, scampi with tartare sauce and sandwiches like coronation chickpea. Additionally, the pub serves a selection of craft ales, beers and ciders from around the world. On weekends, guests can enjoy brunch and indulge in the Sunday roast dinner.
Visited over Patrick’s weekend and really enjoyed liked the relaxed atmosphere. The place had plenty of screens showing the football, which was a nice. They also have Thief Street in the kitchen, the food was fantastic, great portion sizes and tasted delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Drinks are on the pricey side, with a pint of Guinness costing £6.70, but since we’re not big drinkers, we just had one drink each so it didn't affect us too much
Ama A — Google review
Lovely local pub. Lots of options for beer and wines. Usually gluten free options of beer on tap. Gluten free buns available for the burgers. Servers made sure the whole meal was gluten free. Lovely smashed burgers.
Amy W — Google review
This is a great place to come in the day or evening for a drink and some food. There is always a good selection of beers at the bar and some really great food available. It does get busy in the evenings however so come early if you’re after a meal. The decor is pretty cool, wooden beams and girders to reflect a dockyard feel. There are booths with rustic tables and sofas as well as low tables and benches outside which are great in the summer. If you get a window seat you’ll have a nice view of the Blue Peter garden, Imperial War Museum and the plaza outside the BBC. If you’re in Media City this a great place to visit. Thanks for reading
Mike — Google review
What has this place become? I’ve not been here for years since I stopped working locally. Decided to bring the family and was highly disappointed with the food. Firstly we ordered using the QR code, and despite being unable to order drinks this way and having to go to the bar, we were promoted to leave a service tip (before even receiving any actual service). The food arrived and despite the relatively high price and reasonable presentation, it tasted absolutely dreadful. Chicken was dry and bland (almost powdery tasting), and the Nacho’s were drenched in a foul tasting oil. The pulled short rib was fatty and sickly, tasting like they’d been boiled in a bag. Needless to say we won’t be coming back, and it’s such a shame as the food used to be really nice. Following the food’s arrival, we weren’t spoken to once by a single member of staff, so probably just as well we opted out of leaving the service tip.
Stuart B — Google review
Behold the ‘famous spice bag’. Literally just a bag of fries with some onion and a paltry amount of curry sauce. Actually depressing. I paid £10 for a bag of sad fries; robbery. Take a look for yourself (picture included).
Matthew W — Google review
After reopening in August 2025 this place is full of disappointments. I miss the old place. Interior isn't the best and the amount of empty glasses all over the bar on Friday was shocking. The only good thing in the bar was a selection of beers. Overall this place is a disappointment.
Choco L — Google review
Guinness not great..... Murphys fantastic 👏 Jamesons...a little expensive Please fix the Guinness for 5 star review. ! Atmosphere and music fantastic as was service. This pub could be fantastic with a push on the Guinness . Cmon guys !!! Great craic
P C — Google review
I was looking forward to this place reopening as the salmon of knowledge as I had enjoyed my previous experiences at the northern quarter branch as well as the experiences that I've had when this place was still named "the dockyard" however my experience today has totally ruined that. There was no Guinness zero which another reviewer has pointed out was extremely poor and exclusionary and they immediately ran out of all of the other non alcoholic beers they had in the fridge. The food was okay but definitely not worth the price they're charging and to top it all of there was absolutely no order to how people were getting served as I witnessed multiple people sit at the bar for over 10 minutes without getting served and others turn up to the bar and be served within seconds. I was also quite appalled that the bar manager was sitting at the bar on his break absolutely abusing his vape indoors nearby to a table where children were sitting. Really poor opening night, we left and went to seven brothers instead.

The Britons Protection, located in Manchester, Greater Manchester, is a historic pub with ornate interiors and a wide range of whiskies. As one of the city's oldest watering holes, it boasts a collection of over 300 whiskies and offers a good selection of local ales. The spacious beer garden is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy the sunshine and relax. Additionally, the pub features open fires where patrons can unwind with a drink in hand.
This is still a great pub, but is no longer the whisky pub it once was. The cask ale is still great, with a good number of hand pumps from a nice range of breweries, but the whisky selection has been dramatically reduced since 2024 but is still above average. Regardless, a lovely old school pub, with a lovely atmosphere.
H H — Google review
Fantastic pub! This is the first time I have been in 15 years (since when I used to work there), it's just a shame that the whiskeys are gone. But I'm sure there's a reason. Still a cracking pub!

FOOD = BEER Excellent pints of Murphy's and Guinness Appreciated the tip for Frankies Toasties when asked for a sandwich shop recommendation.
John C — Google review
Great old english pub, but no longer vhiskey pub.
Aleš O — Google review
This is a gem of a place which looks and feels quaint, old British and charming. It fosters vibrant meetings and has some exquisite Victorian decor (if a tad unkempt). I already notice the William Morris wallpaper in the function room upstairs has been painted over, so I'm a bit worried that this direction might continue under the new (corporate ) owner, thus stripping it of its precious historic character. We have very few of these old pubs left, and it would hurt the local community endlessly for the Briton's Protection to also slip into mid grey corporate sludge. Historic heritage needs to be protected not painted over.

A truly amazing pub. Just down the street from The Peveril. Tons of history in here. Lots of unique drinking rooms. Front bar is isolated from the rest of the pub. There’s even a beer garden! Great draft and cask options and a lovely bar staff. Just can’t beat a place like this.
Matthew G — Google review
One of the best, friendliest whisky bars I have been to. Alan is a real whisky lover and knows everything about them. The bar is full of rare independet bottlings and you can get very well priced tasting flights. Our few hours there went so fast drinking and talking about whisky I barely noticed it. Will come back for sure! Absolutely recommended!

Service was great very friendly and helpful, lovely place to eat, drink and watch sport on TV. Food was very nice especially the mix and match menu, great choice of drinks. Nice and clean, the staff service was spot on, the only 1 thing how long it took to clear the table after eating. Great value for money.

Traditional pub in Salford. 10 mins walk from Old Trafford. A United pub but not overly so. Good place to watch football in general but they have Liverpool on a little too often. Good quality food and crazy value if you get the right deal. Staff are always friendly and helpful, especially Kieran.

Cracking pub in Salford selling a good choice of drinks and serving good food all at decent prices. With all the places around Salford and Manchester to eat/drink, its not always easy for somewhere to park. The Matchstick has free parking for customers. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Never too much trouble. You can order from the table using the Green King app. We were watching football on one of the many TVs so was really easy for us. Good selection of food and drinks. The pub is clean, well maintained, other tables around us were cleared quickly when customers had finished and left. We were welcomed at the door and said goodbye when we left. Great atmosphere, great pub. Will return again and again.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Couldn't fault. Had no reservation on a Saturday afternoon but they fit us and we were ordering food within 30 minutes. Had been meaning to go here for quite a while ,we go to Manchester twice a year. I can see why this place is so highly rated. Food was yummy . Missus had the chicken and pancetta pie which was incredible. The onion rings and the chips were excellent.

The Blackfriar is a beautifully refurbished pub turned fine restaurant in Manchester city centre. Its elegant, high-end décor makes it the perfect spot for a special occasion. The dishes were delicious – the house-recommended pie was absolutely stunning. Starters and desserts were also spot on. The only downside was that the service was a little slow.

10/10 food was unreal, best steak & ale pie I’ve had in a while (maybe ever!). Vegan girlfriend was also very happy with the selection. Service was top tier, Xavier couldn’t do enough for us. Had a laugh with us & made the night all the more memorable. Definitely recommend!

Came here on a Sunday for the roast and it was delicious. I had the vegetarian roast, which was a cheese and onion pie with all the usual trimmings. The pie was so good, fluffy pastry and a really rich creamy filling. They also made me a very dirty martini, which was spot on. Mark our server was super attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We visited for sunday lunch with no reservation and it was well worth the hour we had to wait for a table. There was a cosy spot by the fire where we were sat with a drink before moving into the dining room. Staff were super friendly. All three food courses were excellent, especially the pork sunday lunch. The wine we had was good too. I recommend you book a table in advance!

Lovely food at The Black Friar Manchester! We had the chicken and leek pie for mains and shared the wings, sourdough, and hash browns for starters everything was reallyyyy good. The outside tavern was so cosy too, with blankets and heating perfect for a relaxed evening. Highly recommend!

Sunday Roast was so yummy and good value for money comes with so much trimmings!! The roast beef was so flavourful and you can even get a pie w trimmings. The anchovy toast was also really good, all the components mixed well together curating the perfect balanced bite. The service was also impeccable, we were served by Mark and he was really helpful with choosing what to eat and he bounced off our table well. Bonus their homemade soda is really nice would recommend

We had such a lovely Sunday lunch here! It’s a cosy, gorgeous pub with great atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Sunday roast — perfectly cooked with crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy — and my partner had the steak, which was spot on. Our waiter Xavier was outstanding. Friendly, attentive and genuinely caring — he made the whole experience feel special without being over the top. Everything ran smoothly and we left feeling really looked after. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be asking for Xavier again!

The establishment also serves food, including cheeseboards. With its beautiful architecture and original features dating back to the 1880s, the interior provides a nostalgic ambiance. It's not just about beer; the inn also offers fine wines by the glass from a Coravin system and deli plates for those seeking an alternative to beer.
Wow what a visit. Huge variety of beers 🍻 two ciders and a fruity beer on offer. You are able to order Sunday Lunch or alternatively a cheese board of choice selecting more 🧀 increases the cost. The pork belly was 😋 really nice 👌. We also ate dessert cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding 🍮. The American 🇺🇸 pilsner goes down a treat and they have plenty of 🍷 wines that are vegan friendly. The pub is very clean the decor is amazing having being built in 1888. They also have toilets and plenty of seating outside in the back. I highly recommend.

We had been seeking out some fish & chips and heard that The Marble Arch Inn had some of the best in the area. We were greeted very kindly by a man behind the bar and he quickly took our drink order and notified us that there was a quiz night about to take place. There is a delightful garden out back with cozy heated booths. That is where we decided to reside for our dinner and drinks. The fish & chips were absolutely on point and the selection of beers was great. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a bite to eat and quality drinks.

I took my friends here for a Sunday roast: it’s one of the more reasonably priced places in Manchester. I opted for lamb, while they got beef. As you can see in the pic, it came with a very reasonable amount of veg (carrots, roasties, spring greens, parsnips and a bit of cauliflower cheese) as well as a perfectly acceptable Yorkshire pudding. Their feedback was that the beef was too fatty- it sounded like the people on the table next to us experienced the same. It came quick! I would probably sample roast dinners at other venues before returning here.

I would definitely go back to The Marble Arch Inn. It is about a 15 minute walk from the central mall shopping center, so it was definitely worth it if you are near there. The place was packed so I definitely recommend a reservation. The food was tasty and enough amount for the price. Also there is a wide selection of beers and IPAs. We had the panko fried chicken sandwich with pickled fennel and chilli jam, and the fish and chips. We enjoyed the food and the environment. Totally recommended in Manchester.

Gosh, I'd not been here in at least 10 years, but it was good to see it had not changed. Gorgeous Victorian tiles, great beer selection with passionate staff, and really good consistent food. We came here before an event and booked a table just in case. Between us, we ordered fish and chips upon tofu salad, chicken burger, and black pudding burger. The fish was huge with fab home-made chips. My udon salad was plentiful with some great flavours, the shitaki mushrooms and asparagus in it were nom. My own gripe was edename were swapped out with regular peas. Everyone was really happy with their food. Oh and the cauliflower starter was delicious too. I will say it can get quite loud easily due to the nature of the architecture. Still, it was nice to be back!

It attracts regulars from the surrounding business district as well as beer enthusiasts looking for an unpretentious city pub experience. Great traditional old boozer with a great beer selection. 4* because of the flies... they were unbearable on my visits during the summer and are still there on 31st Oct. Sort it out.

A truly fun, cozy pub that was rockin’ on an early Friday afternoon. Full of groups of friends catching up over some fine ales. Rustic is an understatement. This place has seen its share of time and patrons. Young, friendly guy at the bar explained some of their cask options, of which there are many. Plenty of regular draft, too. An absolute classic of a pub that I fear will disappear based on the age of the clientele.

I’m from Sweden! I’ve met bartender Allan four years ago and he always amaze me with his deliverance of whiskey! The history, the tastes and more. He has a great knowledge for beers as well. Go to this place and ask for Allan, he’s the greatest! The atmosphere here is also top notch! ✌️💪

This is one of the finest surviving Ale Pubs in Manchester city centre. This gem has been grade 2 listed since 1974 & is well worth seeking out. The current management team are very friendly & helpful. Beers are stocked from far & wide including some unusual regional specials, eg Neptune from Maghull, that you are unlikely to find elsewhere in the city centre. Looking forward to my next visit Cheers !

The Castle Hotel is a historic pub in Manchester known for its live music and literary events, as well as its selection of real ales. Despite its unassuming exterior, the back room of the pub transforms into an intimate venue hosting various performances, from local folk nights to acclaimed bands like Alt-J. The pub's rich history dates back to 1776, and it has maintained its traditional charm with Victorian-era decor and a classic jukebox.
Nice, old-fashioned very traditional British pub with a cool back room where bands play. Friendly service and a good atmosphere, the back room is small so perfect for an intimate gig. Good selection of beers on at the bars including Robinson's Trooper which is a personal fave!
Jon H — Google review
An attractive building from the outside, and small bar area at the front with seating round the back. There seemed a good selection of beers/ ales, but £6.80 for an average pint of Guinness was a little harsh. Great venue for live music however, and enjoy the fact they offer small bands/ musicians a place to play.

A Manchester institution... though one of many. Well kept Robinsons real ales provide a familiar welcome on a rare return to the city. A young crowd on a late Monday evening.

Great traditional venue with good music. Small rooms for music so booking essential. Push to the front, rather than hanging at the back, there is always room close to the stage. Watch out for the mosh pit. Staff in the Castle are lovely, as are the patrons.

Fantastic pub with a long history dating back to 1776. Attractive tiled bar and has a couple of rooms and a very small outside yard with a few seats. We'll known as a lively music venue giving local talent an opportunity to perform. Excellent cask ales. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

This is 100% a music pub, if there isn't a band on there's something playing in the background, which was quite fun when you can hear the guys in the taproom singing this charming man. . Personally i don't think the beer range was too good but they were all on form and very drinkable . This is a very friendly and welcoming place for a beer and i would defiantly go back,All in all not bad at all.

Absolutely cracking wee pub. Selection of ales and not a bad guiness. Staff were really nice. Would loved to have been there when there was a live band playing. Really cool old juke box to enjoy a good tune or two. Will be back next time in Manchester.

The Peveril of the Peak is a charming and unassuming pub with a classic green-tiled exterior. It offers various entertainment options such as beer, pool, darts, and a jukebox. The establishment is run by the owner of Port Street and Common bars along with the co-founder of Cloudwater brewery. Despite its modern exterior, the interior exudes comfort and coziness akin to traditional pubs.
A really good proper pub with good real ale available - there are both inside and outside areas depending on the mood of the weather at that particular moment. I only popped in for a half but will certainly come back when I'm next in town. And I particularly adore the old fashioned Northern Premier League ladder they have on display near the bar - managed to sneak a picture of it because I liked it that much! Proper northern heritage that is!

I took my friend to show him what I think is one of the most amazing pubs in Manchester, with great history, however when we visited at about 14.20 on Wednesday ( just in case the owner wants to speak to her ) the person behind the bar was the most miserable, unpleasant, uninterested bar person I have come across in a long time , she even struggled to ask for our order she was so disinterested Even when people were coming in from graduation, who were all very excited she just couldn’t be bothered speaking to anyone , apart from her friend at the end of the bar If I do visit again , and she is there we will just walk straight out and go somewhere we are welcome

The Star Inn, formerly known as Paradise Cottage, has a rich history dating back to 1856. In October 2009, it made history by becoming the first inn in the country to be taken over and managed by its regular patrons. This urban community-owned pub offers a friendly atmosphere and a wide selection of drinks. It is praised for its well-kept beers and serves brews from the nearby Brightside Brewing Company.
Well worth seeking this urban community-owned pub out. Now serving beer brewed up the road by the ever dependable Brightside Brewing Company. A truly great back-street local which are so difficult to find these days - enjoy the experience whilst you can 🍺👍🏻

Pub
Nestled in the Castlefield area, The Wharf is a spacious establishment with a charming outdoor terrace and boules court. It offers panoramic views of the beautiful canal and is a popular choice for those seeking an al fresco experience. The pub's large interior provides ample space for patrons, with cozy alcoves for more intimate gatherings. As one of the most dog-friendly pubs in Manchester, it welcomes four-legged visitors inside and offers water and biscuits.
One of our favourite pubs in Manchester. Great place to drink both in winter and summer - in winter they have a few heaters outdoors but not many so it can be quite chilly, but they bring out a cover so still a great place to sit. Fish and chips were great, it’s definitely not a cheap place to drink and eat but very relaxed and no loud music! Only thing to be aware of is the run club meets here on Wednesdays, not an issue but just makes it quite busy. And on a sunny day you will be pressed to find outdoor seating. Overall a fantastic pub is a great location by the canals.
Laura F — Google review
The Wharf in Castlefield is a spacious, well-run pub with a strong focus on food and drink. Set along the canal, it offers a scenic spot for a pint or meal, especially on warmer days when the outdoor terrace fills up quickly. Inside, the layout is open yet cosy, with real fires and plenty of seating. The menu covers British classics like fish and chips and Sunday roasts, alongside more refined dishes. Portions are generous, and the quality is consistent. The beer selection is excellent, with 12 hand-pulled ales and ciders, including local brews and rotating guests. Service is friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. It’s not the cheapest pub in Manchester, but the setting and quality make it worth it. A solid choice for a relaxed meal or drink by the water.
Patrik K — Google review
One of my go-to spots in Castlefield. I’ve been many times and it’s consistently tasty — solid pub food done well, generous portions, and hot to the table. Great choice of beers (cask and craft) and a nice, reasonably priced wine list. Friendly staff and a relaxed, canalside atmosphere make it easy to linger with friends. Not fancy — just reliably good and welcoming every time.

Visited on Easter Sunday. I hadn't booked as we didn't know what time we'd be there. Even though it was very busy, they still found us a table for 2 upstairs straight away. Staff calmly kept everyone fed and watered. Food was lovely.

The Wharf is a charming and traditional pub with a lovely atmosphere, perfect for a cozy meal or drinks by the canal. The food was delicious and comforting, definitely worth the visit. The only downside was the slightly long wait for both food and service, which lacked a bit of energy. Still, it’s a great spot if you’re not in a rush and want to enjoy a relaxed, classic pub experience.
Regina S — Google review
Always a fan of the Wharf for a special time, and you can't beat it on a Sunday for a roast, pie, or Asian-fusian salad. Ideal for a date or a classy yet casual catch up with pals. A great selection of pints that are local, broader UK, continental Europe, and classics. They always have at least one gluten free beer on tap at a time, this time was the Brightside Bitter, but often have an alternative option. There are food options for all with the menu having extensive catering for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The staff are allergen aware and I have never had a problem eating here. They offer veggie and GF savoury pies and roasts, and GF fish and chips, as well as desert options which is a rare treat. The good is reliably hot and tasty, never rushed. They can run out of popular dishes especially by late on a Sunday, but that is to be expected of a place this busy. I had the crispy beef salad (GF) which was very flavourful and had perfect textures. Parking can be validated to avoid paying anything using an iPad at the bar. There is an accessible entrance, I believe an accessible loo too. Upstairs toilets are always very clean, as pleasant as a loo can be.
Lea S — Google review

I'd just like to thank Kienan for his excellent service last night. We were quite a big family party but our food and drinks arrived promptly and to the usual excellent standard that we've come to expect from the Wharf. Kienan made sure that we were seated in a quieter area as one of our group is elderly which was hugely appreciated. We have been coming to the Wharf for years and it has never let us down.

Went with a friend the other week and i would recommend the food as it was amazing. However the atmosphere was completely ruined as we overheard a server be dug into by someone i am guessing was management. The way that manager talked to that young man was awful and even after that he came to our table and gave the best service i have received in the city centre for a while. I can appreciate tough love but for that poor server to be dug into so loudly is just awful. Do better!!

Incredible little boozer. It genuinely is tiny. We visted on a busy Saturday afternoon and the staff were doing a great job of not only serving people but managing where people could actually sit or stand. The two real ales they've got on tap were both on fantastic form, and we only paid £7 for 2 pints which is just incredible in 2025. Great united memorabilia on the walls too

I love this place. I stumbled upon it by chance. I was staying across the street at the townhouse. I saw a few pubs out the windows so I thought I should explore. I am so happy I stopped in. When you wall through the door you are greeted by a towering figure with a huge grin and really good energy. His name is Barry, hes the owner. The bar itself is about 3 feet in length and Barry asks you what youre having then tell you to go find a seat. There's 2 rooms with seats and TV, everyone gets to know each other there. Barry makes sure the energy stays positive, the pints are very reasonably priced, and you will have a good time. Im from San Diego, and will definitely be back! If youre anywhere near the area, make sure you stop in for a pint. You wont regret it.

A lovely looking venue, lots of outdoor seating and comfy sofas inside. Friendly service however the name is a bit decieving as the craft bar selection on draft is poor. There are two cask ales on which looks like they rotate and one true craft beer, again a lovely guest from Ponoma on this occasion. Shipyard IPA and Brooklyn Pilsner are Carlsberg Marston brands and Peroni is also on tap. The fridge behind the bar looks more promising but awkward to see what is in it.

31/10/22: a quick stop off before watching The Shawshank Redemption at The Lowry. Quite a poor selection of draft craft ale. The name does not depict the venue and sadly lets it down. About 4 craft ale lines, the rest was lager. Standard brews, nothing out of the ordinary. However, they did have a fully stocked beer fridge with cans and bottles. I felt we would have been better suited staying in The Dockyard that had plenty more choice on draft. Chose to have Polly's Brewery pale ale and a Best Bitter.

Very typical old style bar... nothing flash, wooden seats and tables. Not a big pub but beers served are of excellent quality.... a bit like going back in time to an old workers bar. Worth a visit to get away from city madness.

Very good small Hydes pub about ten minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. Four cask beers on handpump when I visited including a ruby ale. Small outside smoking area to the rear. Not too busy after the Spurs game at the Etihad!

A couple of cask ales from the Hyde’s core range plus a seasonal stout. Little has changed since I first came here in 1980.

Only had time to pop in for a quick pint but worth the effort. For an old git like me, this is a proper pub, warm welcome, friendly punters and a great atmosphere.. Good selection of beers and good prices. No food because we were getting something along the road. If you like a traditional feel to a pub this place is a must pop in destination. Enjoy

The Eagle Inn is a laid-back pub housed in a Victorian building, offering live music and outdoor seating. This classic Edwardian red-brick workers pub has been transformed into an exciting small venue while retaining its charm. The pub features a piano as old as the 1903 building, a jukebox filled with classic albums, and hosts live music events in a room on the north side of the bar.
Really nice traditional holts pub. A lot of re development going on around it, but still going strong. Nice staff and large area at the front of the pub for when the sun comes out. Well worth a visit.

Lli was lucky enough to be a patron of this amazing pub, best in Manchester by far. Great beer, staff & ambience. The Eagle inn is a "must visit" stop on any visit to Manchester. Easy to find too. 💯 Recomended & an easy 5 🤩

Love it! Small but perfectly formed. Old style boozer with a twist. The cute live venue attached is perfect for an intimate style gig. The bar has a good selection of drinks, staff lovely, board games available in the lounge, outside seating when the Salford weather allows. I love the vibe and the aesthetic too. It's all being built up in the surrounding area, with glass towers and apartment blocks and then this little gem in the middle. Just brilliant

Lovely boozer. Probably my favourite in the area. That Chloe lass is an absolute ray of sunshine. Ee by gum I’ll be hoping for a pint poured by her again Sincerely Alan

Another one of the thoroughly classic Holts pubs still standing and so close to Manchester city centre. Business as usual whilst the surrounding area is totally redeveloped. Great bar staff and super friendly regulars make this pub a pleasure to drink in. Regular entry in the Good Beer Guide.

Great vibes and atmosphere, especially with their back terrace. A bit tricky to order as the bar has 2 separate entrances so you don’t really know where to queue, but the staff was friendly and let us enjoy our beers even after the official closing time, would definitely go back!

Nestled conveniently near Salford Central railway station, The Egerton Arms boasts a prime city center location with prices that won't break the bank. With pints around £3.50, it’s an ideal spot for both locals and travelers looking to unwind before or after their journeys. While its exterior may not be eye-catching and the interior is quite simple, this traditional pub exudes a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of classic community establishments.
Saturday 1st March 2025 Today, we had a pint of real ale in this fantastic real ale pub This proper lively locals pub has a horseshoe interior, and it's a proper place to drink proper real ale A good salford real ale pub

Will never be coming back to this establishment again! It was a shared bathroom with no lock on the door! Dirty sheets, dirty towels that had spiders in them, rust on the mat in the bathroom!! Mattress felt like a PE mat with springs! Landlord would rather get drunk with the punters then spend the money on the hotel refurbing the rooms!!! We moved the wardrobe and there was a little door going into a different room!!! The film hostel comes to mind #pleasewatch, none of the appliance in the bedroom wasn’t pat tested since 2015…. please avoid at all cost

Pint of Holt's Black at a fair price (2.11) on Feb 3 this year. Interesting people coming and going. The bar beautiful to look at. Probably spending an hour or two in there (last week of March 2015), working on a new project, working the most promising characters and their best lines into a piece of prose to add to my eBook titles on amazon/kindle. Located in a shopping complex, 20 Stories is a high-style destination offering modern British dining and cocktails with stunning panoramic views of the city. The restaurant, led by chef Aiden Byrne, serves up a variety of dishes including a decadent fish sharing platter for two and options like roasted scallops, grilled halibut, and cod cheek and chips. Known for its breathtaking views, 20 Stories also offers special menus for occasions like Valentine's Day.
Went here for lunch as a mother and daughter treat. I was struck immediately by the wonderful atmosphere and decor of the place. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our waiter, Kumar, was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring we had the best time. We ordered olives and mains: sea cream and trout followed by a shared dessert. The food was perfect and the summer signature cocktails went so well with everything. We couldn't find fault in our time here at all.

The ambience is amazing and very elegant. We attended there for my birthday celebration and the staff were very welcoming from the start to the end of our visit. Our waiter ,Nancy, was brilliant! From explaining the food , making recommendations and taking extremely good pictures of us. The service was excellent, quick and stress free. She made our evening and the meal more enjoyable. We got 2 starters and 2 mains. Unfortunately the food does not meet the standards of the atmosphere as it was quite bland. I would not advise you to order the chicken dishes as we found it quite bland ( no taste, no salt). However, their seafood was better and delicious. I got the prawns. Their terrace is perfect for a hot summer day or night meal, but if you don’t smoke or can’t stand the smell you might want to sit inside.

Dinner with the most fabulous views of Manchester. After our son completed the Manchester Half Marathon, we wanted to eat somewhere nice to celebrate. We booked 20 stories the evening before. The decor & service great. Nice selection of professionally made drinks. Food delicious, 3 out of the 4 of us had the beef Sunday roast, excellent value at £26. It came with a side of cauliflower cheese, clean plates all round. Would highly recommended even going for drinks as they have a fab outdoors area with blankets and heaters too.

We went to the blackout / candlelight evening on Sunday. Food was pretty good and it was a set menu. My husband enjoyed his more than myself. I’m vegan and the food was good 7.5/10 but I wasn’t full! I felt like going for a bag a chips afterwards!!! The main course was little more than a small potato and a medium sized beetroot! A shame because the place was lit beautifully and the views of Manchester were superb. Our server Daniel needs a huge mention and recognition as we both felt he was outstanding. He was lovely and very attentive without being overbearing. He had the knack of knowing when to chat and offer service and was personable and respectful and polite. Had a great manner and was a credit to the restaurant. We would definitely return but would hope for a better menu. After all it was £100 per person and to leave unsatisfied was a disappointment

We had a lovely dinner here the other night to celebrate our anniversary and our server was the wonderful Nancy who despite having a full section of tables throughout our entire meal was so attentive and professional. She made us feel so welcome and helped make our celebration so special. We loved our dinner and will return for other special occasions because of the attention to detail Nancy had and how all of her reccomendations hit the mark.

Always wanted to go here but never got around to it and we’ve now been twice in the last two weeks. We only went in for a drink, once in the day and once at night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The views you get of Manchester were breathtaking and I’d recommend going both in the day time and at night. I had an IPA which was really nice and not too overpriced considering the venue and experience you get.

I had an amazing time here recently! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the service from the team was exceptional—huge shoutout to the manager too. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the pork crackling and crispy chicken; I couldn't get enough! I also really enjoyed the Virgin Pornstar drink, even if it was a tad sweet for my taste. If I had to nitpick, the paper holder for the cracklings could be improved, but honestly, everything else made it a fantastic visit!

Loved the atmosphere and the drinks here! The food was also good but not great. I had expected more of it. I had a chicken burger which was good but it was completely drenched in sauce. The bun turned super soggy because of it. The service was mostly good except at the end. Because it started to become a lot slower suddenly. It seemed like the focus was more on the bar at that time then on the people still in the restaurant. The drinks were really fun and creative tho! And that was the main reason we went here. They aren't cheap tho! But it's definitely worth getting at least one.

Called here for cocktails for a dinner reservation and they didn’t disappoint. I had a strawberry daiquiri which was extremely good, the bar staff were very friendly and attentive, didn’t have food but the food we saw coming out did look good, would definitely recommend the place for a good cocktail and atmosphere. We called at around 1pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty quiet, we did walk past later on in the afternoon and was lot busier, also a good outside area for people watching!!

We had a fantastic night here, made even better by our waiter Pawel who was an absolute star and really looked after us and made our cocktails kept coming 😀 the cocktails were amazing - I would recommend the French kiss - and the food was fantastic - i would recommend the chicken in a basket but definitely order the truffle gravy to go with it! My only criticism would be how long you have to queue at the bar when you are not seated and enjoying table service! So definitely book a table, we did book one but as I was early I queued at the bar for a drink before hand.

What an absolute legendary experience. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with the amazing choices this location offers. Had an afternoon tea in the solarium. As frequent travellers we look to enjoy the best possible experience and atmosphere when abroad, this place delivered in spades. Lovely pub with absolutely gorgeous decor and amazing service. The food however, is not it. We only enjoyed our small plates and snacks, and the vegetarian options. The other plates were not very interesting for the price. I also ordered the steak done medium rare, and it was clearly rare (still pink on the outside). Will definitely go back for the drinks though, the cocktails are lovely and the vibes are immaculate.

This place restaurant is special to my partner and I. It’s been the restaurant of choice for a few momentous occasions, we love the architecture, the vibe and the food. We had family in town and decided to share our ‘happy spot’. We were shown to our table straight away and settled in. The menu has changed but it’s still a collection of small and large plates good for sharing or as a main with a side dish. Sadly I don’t think our waitress was ‘in the mood’ to work that evening… We had a few allergies within our group that needed some discussion, she clearly didn’t know the menu and seemed to be busy in her head with other things than the job at hand… We wanted to venture down the wine list but again there was no advice or knowledge. The food was delicious and side dishes abundant as usual but the lack of service continued, we had to find and even cajole our server every time we wanted to order additional items. We shared a few desserts and quickly left after begrudgingly paying service charge for no service! Working in the industry We hate to remove the service charge as the team need to tips…. Funny though, she was quick enough to write her name on the £250 bill when it arrived. We did e mail the hotel to give some feedback but sadly a month later still no reply. We love this place and the hospitality industry is a tough place to be right now. We take the time to feedback because we care. Thank you

The food at refuge is always fantastic and this time was no different, shout out to the hispi cabbage with miso and duck fat crumble, it was unbelievable, also the beef cheek nugget soo very good. The service was ok but considering how quiet the restaurant was we had to wait quite a while to order food, once ordered it came quickly they also did not add all we had ordered so there was a few things missing but to be honest we would have orders too much if we had got it all. We orders cocktails at the end of the meal which were pretty disappointing, that’s the second time in a row where that has been the case now and expected it to be a blip last time. It’s such a shame as we have always loved going here for cocktails. It won’t stop us going for food as there are other drinks obviously but not sure we would order a cocktail again.

The Refuge is truly one of Manchester’s hidden gems. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning a perfect blend of historic charm and modern elegance. I went there for dinner with friends, and everything from start to finish was flawless. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making us feel well taken care of without being intrusive. The food was outstanding fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. We also tried a few cocktails, which were some of the best I’ve had in the city. Whether you’re going for a special occasion, a date night, or just drinks with friends, The Refuge never disappoints. I can’t wait to go back!

Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary and got the roast for 2 which was £69 (HAHAH) It was so good! The Old Wellington is a historic half-timbered pub located in the heart of Manchester. Dating back to 1552, it holds the title of the city's oldest pub and is steeped in history. Originally situated on Market Square, it was relocated to Shambles Square as part of a redevelopment project in 1999. The pub offers a traditional atmosphere, real ales, and hearty pub food.
First time dining at an old English Pub and I enjoyed both the vibe and the food. Very good portions. The steak and ale pie had a brief scent of beer in the stuffing which gave a special twist than a regular pie. Crispy crust. Smooth and buttery potato mash.

We had dinner at The Old Wellington on two evenings because the food was so good and the atmosphere so cozy. The first floor has a great, warm ambiance. The staff are friendly. Had a wonderful experience here at the Old Wellington! We had a reservation for two at 7pm on a surprisingly busy Wednesday and were seated in the second floor dining area. There was one waiter working essentially the entire floor and did an awesome job considering that the establishment was evidently understaffed for how many people they were serving. While we did have to wait for our drinks, appetizers, and entrees, everything was delicious and worth the wait. The Pornstar Martini was delectable and I the beef ale pie was comforting and fulfilling! Would recommend for anyone looking for a traditional but curated English meal in Manchester!

Not my first time eating here but it has been quite a while, so I was a bit disappointed with the pies tbh. We had a steak pie and the chicken and mushroom with chips instead of mash. Just to look at it was disappointing, chunky dry chips obviously from the freezer, with a roasted carrot on top (what is that about? Why not some more vegetables, some nice greens?) The steak pie was mainly gravy, the gravy was watery. It seemed half assed. I don’t think we’ll be ordering the pies here again now.

In addition to kebabs, the restaurant is upgrading its menu to include indulgent pancake options. The bar serves an array of delicious plant and flower themed cocktails that are perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy pictures.
I had my 50th birthday celebrations here last Friday. The staff was amazing & very welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, as were all the cocktails. There was a long delay between starter & mains, but we didn’t mind as it gave us all time to mingle & digest the starter. I didn’t have a desert but they looked amazing & everyone commented on how delicious they were. I will definitely come back here again. Great value for money

we called in just after new year, absolutely beautiful inside & staff are friendly and very helpful, the live singer was superb. Food was delicious the only thing was my daughter got the chicken and chorizo hanging kebab, myself and my husband got the sharer my daughters portion was bigger than the sharer so my husband sat moaning (as men do) overall everything was wonderful but I think the sharer portion should be bigger, its not worth the price he would have eaten that himself 🫣😂 The children's menu has plenty to choose from with some healthy choices which was good to see the burgers were brilliant sizes & they enjoyed their desert after huffing and puffing as the banana split had sold out but they were very happy!

Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost ⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came here for a chat with friends over drinks so my review is somewhat limited. Really like the space and the decor. Front is mainly catering to drinkers and there's also an outdoor area (right on Deansgate). The back is more dining and has a slightly different decor. Either way, really cosy and nice. Super chilled and casual when I was there in the late afternoon. Would love to come back and see what the food is like!

Gorgeous bar, Estrella very nice. Do food but didn't try it, in fact we were the only people in on a Monday afternoon.

First time today, the food was amazing!!! Loved the option for a two/three course meal at around £23. The Sunday roast was one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was seasoned!! And tasted so good and the portion size was perfect. The cookie desert was so tasty! Again the flavours were amazing. Defo coming back again.

We loved eating here for our 3 year anniversary. Really delicious food and great service. Would really recommend the salt and pepper chicken wings for a starter: really tasty with a gorgeous sweat chilli sauce but not too spicy.

Had a very memorable afternoon here with the family. Cocktails are exceptional, staff and atmosphere are awesome and food hits the spot too. Love it and will be back!

Great atmosphere, interesting cocktails served in glasses, test tubes and plant pots. Feels like a very old fancy potting shed. The bar staff don't use measures to make the cocktails so it's all very theatrical. Great Fun. The outside is quite unassuming so it's easy to walk straight past.

Staff are friendly, nice and so helpful. Food is 4/5 but the entertainment is 10/10. Cocktails are the best part. It's pricey but the atmosphere, entertainment and setting is worth every penny. Perfect for hens/girlie get togethers with loads of insta friendly areas for pictures. Don't worry about the time you book between 7pm to 10.30pm as they spread out the entertainment every half hour, so you'll always get a show.

Booked a private drinks area for a 21st celebration as my daughter loves the decor in here (insta opportunities everywhere you look!) For me it was the staff that stood out. Really helpful when dropping off and collecting decorations (they stored it all for the following day) and set up the area beautifully. The bottle neck fireworks are fabulous! One very happy daughter - thank you 🥰

We had the private dining area booked for a hen party and menagerie were fantastic from the initial enquiry, numerous queries ahead of our event and the event itself. The service was fantastic on the day, I don’t think anyone’s drink was empty for longer than a minute. The food was delicious (loved the pink sliders!) and we didn’t feel rushed at all!

We went here for Hen party, couldn't fault it, they were over running slightly but this just ment our time started when we got on the table. The team were fabulous and couldn't have been more attentive. The menagrie tipsy tea was lovely and the cocktails flowed, we had a fabulous afternoon x

Loved loved it. If you want to have a nice bottomless brunch with your girls come here. The food was also really nice, most food at bottomless brunch spots is terrible, this exceeded our expectation.

I came here on a hen do of around 10 people and had ordered off the set menu (we had already submitted our starters and mains prior) Before we’d even sat down the waitress asked us to order our puddings. For my starter I had the tempura prawns. It was nice but felt 3 prawns was a bit stingy. On the flip, I had a steak for main and it was super filling with lots of chips and felt like a massive portion. We came here for a 5;30 reservation on a Saturday. I enjoyed the music but it got put on so loud that I couldn’t hear anyone talking to me which I struggled with. It was super busy and we could see that waiters were rushed off their feet

A stunning venue, with everything pink! I was taken here for my hen do and wedding noticed a few other hen parties there as well. We had afternoon tea,the food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of tea to drink. The menus for meals looked really nice as well and I would love to see one of their events next time!

We went for dinner here yesterday after a long day at a conference we were attending. Great decision! Friendly and professional staff who greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. One mark of good restaurant training is when they get back to you at some point to ask if everything is OK with the food, which they did. There was a bit of a delay getting our bill but it didn't really matter as we were enjoying our time chatting. I ordered the spicy squid for starter -- it was one of the best ones I've had (and I love squid). Perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, crispy and tender. Good portion size too. For my mains, I had The Spider sushi, consisting of soft-shelled crab and avocado. Delicious and filling! Their poke bowls are great too. Beautiful plating as well. They both have western and Japanese and Japanese fusion selection. Highly recommended!

Great place! Bar service great, booked a table requested a booth, but too busy, At table service, waiting a little longer than normal, but expected as busy, had mushrooms on sour dough, fish and chips, grandad hot dog all foods spot on!! Second visit, slight change in the starter mushrooms, missing few bits from last time, shame....

We have visited three times since foodunagi has joined and this place started to offer the best sushi in Manchester. The food is always outstanding in this place their cocktails are absolutely delicious, my favourite is the lychee daiquiri 🤤 however the service is not that great. The aim of this review is to say that they have dramatically improved since our first visit so I have high hopes for this place to move from 4 stars to 5 soon. Currently there is still work to do, expect delays on food and some missing items but in my opinion as long as the waitress inform you about this beforehand like they did on our last visit is the key to good service. First visit- no attention, no side plates rather rude service we have raised this. Second attempt massive improvement. And on our third visit it was almost perfect. They waitress was kind , funny, apologetic but mainly she was keeping us up to date and gave us options. The manager was extremely nice, acknowledged all the issues and even offered additional discount as compensation. He also had a simple chat with us and when the business is busy that's what really appreciated the time he dedicated to us. That one minute be dedicated to us was very appreciated, and showed good customer service skills. One thing if the restaurant read this review is to work on the time when customer asks for the bill. On every single occasion we had to wait a long time and if someone is asking for bill that means they are ready to go and don't want to be wasting their time sitting around, it's frustrating. Overall happy with the place because they seek to be the best and improve. Highly recommended
SomebodyFeedKaz — Google review
Good service and variety of food prices are good as well, we tried the sushi and the crispy pork belly which were very tasty, even in a match day the service was pretty fast which honestly was unexpected in a very good way. The burger was really tasty the right size
Ronald G — Google review
If I compare this to other places it was on the pricey side for what we had. However, the food was tasty and the cocktails well made. The waitress was lovely and provided an excellent service. I wouldn't personally return to the restaurant as I believe there are nicer places. It was standard enough to pass on expectations.
Collette C — Google review
We had our first visit, and it certainly will not be our last. Food was really tasty, service was excellent and the atmosphere was good, having football on the screens helped with the younger and older guests in our party. Would highly recommend

Absolutely terrible and would never return! What a waste of nearly £100!! After a terminally I’ll diagnosis recently we were looking forward to our trip to the theatre. Im a believer in supporting our local independent businesses and saw online that this was an independent local business that supports local suppliers. We arrived and were greeted after a few minutes by a young lady waitress who showed us to our table. She gave us menus and I saw online they did a pre theatre set menu so asked for this. She said she ‘didn’t know if they were doing them today’ and went away what I thought was to check. While we’re waiting we noticed that the menu given was totally different to the online menu and I mean the main menu now no the pre theatre menu ( as we hadn’t had that yet). So I was a little dismayed as I had like a coupon dishes in the online menu and was looking forward to that. We noticed after waiting a little while that the waitress who was going to check on the theatre menu was showing other guests to their tables and taking orders, so she must have completely disregarded us. Yet again we asked another young lady waitress about the pre theatre menu and she went away to check and brought us it a short while later. As it turned out there were no vegan options on the theatre menu and so we ordered from the main menu. Everything seemed to be going fine and then our appetisers were brought out. As they were given to us the waitress (who was very nice) said she had made a mistake and our mains were ready now also can she bring them out? I was firm and said no as I have a disability and have swallowing problems so eating takes me a little longer and so it would be cold. She said ok and went away. Appetisers were very nice. The mains came out and my daughters Vegan burger must have been kept warm from when it was made in error as the fries were cold, the vegan cheese slice was all dried up also. My wife’s burger was dried up, the fries were cold and the chilli was cold. I firmly believe they had been kept warm and they expected us to eat food made in error by the establishment. We asked for the meals for my wife and daughter to be re made and then after a grudgingly look they took them away to make them. The lady (another different waitress), asked if anyone was warm to take off the plate and eat it whilst she asked for the rest to be re made. 🤬 My sons and mine sausage and mash was cooked fine. No cutlery was given with the mains so we had to ask for it. The re made food was brought after a short while and my wife and daughter started to eat. They said the food wasn’t nice at all and the establishment is quite pricey (which is fine for quality food, which we expected). As my daughter ate her food she noticed that where we were brought in, the gap we came through with our wheelchairs (myself and my son are disabled) had been filled because they had put another table there!! They were a couple dining on the table. My daughter asked a waitress why they had put a table there and how were we to get out? The reply was ‘Don’t worry about it they can just move to let you past’!! We asked for the bill and they had added nearly £10 on the bill for service charge?! My daughter asked why and is it optional? She was told ‘Yes it is optional and she could remove it if we wanted’. My daughter said yes as service had been terrible. It should never been added. The bill was just over £90 and I’m sure the other chain restaurants could have provided superior food and service and so will not return again. We then had to go and ask the couple dining could they just move a little so we could get out. Very embarrassing! In summary: Online main menu doesn’t exist! Service poor! Higher price for sub par food! Hype of the impression given online does not match the dining experience!

A really nice bar. The lunch deal was amazing value. The burger is exactly what you imagine when you are craving burgers and of course it's paired with a classic brewdog. There's many beers on draft and there was also seasonal oktoberfest options. too!

Visited yesterday afternoon for ‘wing stock’ unlimited wings, upon being seated we were informed the flavour of the day was not available, instant disappointment. Very unfortunate that you would advertise an event with a different flavour of wings every day of the week and then not have that flavour available. The first round of wings we ordered were buffalo wings, nice flavour but drowned in sauce. The lemon and garlic wings did not taste of lemon but once again drown in butter and not very appealing. After about an hour we then got told the tikka sauce for the flavour of the day was being made and would be available in 10 minutes, ready for our next round of wings, so we ordered. 30 minutes later still no wings, asked a member of staff to cancel our order as we had to leave and we had been waiting an extremely long time. After a visit to the kitchen she came back to tell us she’s sorry we had to wait there was a problem in the kitchen… if there was a problem why was we not informed? Why would we be left sat there with no food? waiting for an order that would not be arriving. Honestly overall a very disappointing visit, came for unlimited wings, left still hungry.

Nestled in the heart of Shambles Square, Sinclairs Oyster Bar is a quintessential Manchester tavern that exudes charm and history. With its rustic wooden beams and a delightful cash-only policy, this iconic venue has been serving patrons since the 1700s. The expansive beer garden is a local favorite, especially on sunny days when it fills up with lively crowds enjoying affordable lagers and classic pub fare.
This has to be one of the most atmospheric and visually welcoming pubs I know. Lovely place with creaking floorboards, nooks and crannies, a mixed crowd. They operate a 'no mobile use' policy, hence the exterior photos only. I visited on Friday night and the vibe in there was just about perfect. Great ales to; Sam Smiths Best at £2.69 a pint. I didn't try the food so can't rate. A real gem of a place.

We had our wedding reception here back at the end of April 2023. Of course, we knew Rain Bar for years as a great bar with outdoor space by the canal which was why we thought of it. It was absolutely amazing, beautiful newly renovated function room, great service through the evening, great food - loads of guest compliments to the chef! There were individual yummy gluten-free platters for our celiac guests which they really appreciated. Special thanks to Alex with whom we met to plan everything and very special thanks to Sarah who set up our decorations thoughtfully and beautifully. About 60 odd guests, plenty of space to dance and chat with drinks. Seating for family members who needed it. The area is so lovely with the fairy lights and the canal, we took some of our wedding couple shots there. Could not recommend this venue enough for events!

We went for a gig at The Lowry and thought we could have a nice experience having a meal here. Bad choice. I ordered a steak pie and got nothing but a chopped teeth. The pastry was hard as a rock and completely empty, no a single piece of meat or even gravy! The best in that plate was the mushy peas and that is high compliment. Avoid eating here. It was highway robbery.

**5 stars - Absolutely brilliant!** Just had the most fantastic lunch at Pier Eight before catching "Dear England" (seriously, bring tissues - what a show!). We'd booked for 11:45 and honestly couldn't have asked for better timing or better food. The staff here are absolutely lovely - the kind of people who make you feel like you're dining with friends rather than just grabbing a quick pre-theatre bite. Genuinely warm, professional, and clearly love what they do. Went for the 3-course set menu and every single dish was spot on. The mackerel pate was a perfect starter, the lamb was cooked beautifully, and the Swiss roll? Well, let's just say I'm still thinking about it! Add in those gorgeous views over the Quays and you've got yourself a proper winner. If you're heading to The Lowry, do yourself a favor and book a table here. The whole team has got this place running like clockwork, and it shows. We'll definitely be back!

The Molly House, located in Manchester's Gay Village, offers a unique experience for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. This cozy spot serves a variety of drinks including tea, cocktails, real ales, and Spanish/South American tapas. The establishment pays homage to the 18th and 19th century 'Molly houses,' which were some of the first gay-friendly meeting places.
The Molly House in Manchester’s Gay Village is a cosy, characterful bar and eatery that blends Spanish and South American tapas with a relaxed pub atmosphere. The food is consistently praised for its flavour and presentation, with dishes like octopus and ox cheek standing out. The drinks menu is extensive, featuring a wide selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits. The interior combines rustic charm with vintage decor, creating a welcoming environment. Service is friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. While the location is slightly tucked away on Richmond Street, it's well worth seeking out for quality food and a warm atmosphere.

I discovered The Molly House one afternoon in Manchester — by pure chance — and what followed was a genuine revelation. As a former chef myself, well-versed in fine dining, it’s not easy to impress me — especially with simple ingredients. But here, simplicity was elevated to perfection. Every dish carried refinement and heart in equal measure. The food was spectacular: slow-cooked pork cheeks that melted into pure bliss (among the best I’ve ever had), tender roasted chicken infused with garlic, delicate shrimp pearls bursting with flavor, crisp breaded green olives, and soft white cabbage dressed with pesto and paprika — which unexpectedly became my absolute favorite, even ahead of the pork cheeks. It was my Ratatouille moment — that rare instant when taste and memory collide, when a meal becomes an experience. In a new city, I didn’t expect to find such warmth and authenticity, both on the plate and among the people. The gentleman behind the bar took his time to explain every beer with genuine enthusiasm and deep knowledge — a small gesture that made a big impression. My heartfelt thanks to the chef and the bartender for their care, passion, and dedication — you turned an ordinary afternoon into something truly special. The Molly House isn’t just a place to eat or drink — it’s where hospitality, craftsmanship, and soul meet. Thank You! Sincerely Constantin

We have often met friends for drinks at the Molly House but hadn't ever sat down to eat their fantastic tapas menu. Croquetas (three kinds, the chunky prawn ones with seaweed mayo were our favourite, along with lovely slow-cooked pork cheeks in red wine, steak with chermoula, and some extraordinarily tasty chicken thighs in a garlic and sherry sauce. I could have eaten a bucket of those. Finished off with a lovely slice of Basque cheesecake, sherry-soaked raisins on the side. Extremely good food, great service, lovely place to sit and eat. And, with a bottle of Grenache, excellent value. 100% recommend.

Always wonderful to go for a drink, finally tried the tapas tonight and it's a wonderful condensed menu of different small plates! All presented lovingly and with attention to detail as well as delicious. Dog friendly which is wonderful so we could bring our family dog. Thanks to Dominic who was very welcoming and friendly throughout our dinner. :)

Not a bad Venue and drinks were reasonable prices. Service was also good. Unfortunately what wasn’t good was being talked about by two gentlemen at the bar who seemed to have something to discuss about me, even though all I did was order a rum & coke. Walked out and won’t be going back.

The Crown & Kettle is a classic venue located on the border of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter, offering a wide selection of cask beers, small plates, and outdoor seating. It's a popular spot for beer enthusiasts of all ages due to its extensive collection of real ales. The venue features beautiful original features and occasional live music performances, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors.
Great Pub with plenty of beer, full of people and friendly staff. I really like the atmosphere and the building is lovely. If you wait a little while you’ll be able to grab a seat. 🍻 See you there for beer 😀

We stopped by for a quick drink and sat in the spacious outdoor seating area. They have a ton of great beer options which is always the draw for a beer nerd like myself. It was very busy at the time we arrived as they had a quiz night in full swing. Service was pretty standard so no complaints.

We stopped by the Crown & Kettle on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm and it was surprisingly calm and relaxed. What I liked most was that it felt more like sitting in a café than a busy pub - quiet enough to have a proper chat without shouting over the crowd. They've got an impressive range of craft beers on tap. I tried the Juice Forsyth, a fruity IPA at 5%, which was really enjoyable - refreshing without being too heavy. The Guinness, on the other hand, was just average. It wasn't bad, but definitely not at the level of the one you'd get at Mulligans. Overall, it's a cozy spot if you're looking for somewhere laid-back with a wide beer selection and a calmer atmosphere than your usual city pub.

Always the first stop when getting into Manchester. The building is stunning, and it looks even better since they renovated the bar area and knocked through to the other side. Great selection of drinks and always fantastic music playing in the background. Highly recommended.

The Lawn Club, located in Spinningfields, is a popular summer destination with a large terrace featuring private wooden cabins and open seating areas adorned with colorful flowers. The venue offers an un-intimidating food menu suitable for everyone and tends to get very busy, so booking in advance is recommended. Additionally, the establishment hosts special events such as the "Love on the Lawn" deal for Valentine's Day, offering a set menu including heart-shaped pizzas and drink options.
Best bottomless brunch I’ve been too!! No waiting got the bar to make individual cocktails as they just serve jugs and bottles which works really well! They were happy to accommodate our large booking of 16 which a lot of bars in Manchester couldn’t offer (we booked 2 months in advance) Due to the large party we had sharer boards for food which was enough to fill you for a light lunch, not necessarily an evening meal. The food however was delicious and convenient. They had a DJ on which was great vibes and you’re encouraged to dance on the benches and have a good time with your mates!! Perfect place for birthdays, hen dos, etc. Value for money was 10/10, would definitely return 💓

We had a lovely meal here and some really nice wine, but there was some kind of mix up with our order, which was not brought to us at one of the barrels until an hour had passed and we complained, but we did love the atmosphere. We had the summer garden salad and the Mexican pulled pork sandwich. The wine we had was the house white, which was cold and kept in an ice bucket.

Beautiful venue, really busy so ensure you prebook for special occasions. Time is limited to 90 mins per table. Food was okay, quite plain not much flavour was the feedback from our group. Our party ate the chicken burgers, fries, meat pizza and chicken salad. Service at the bar was horrendous, massive queues, over 20 minutes waiting. It was a super busy sunny Saturday night at 7pm, people were being turned away. When we were eventually served, we ended up doubling up our order, as no table service for drinks. Our food arrived whilst I was in the bar queue! DJ and music was good, great mix of tunes for most tastes. Lots of hen parties and birthday groups catered for. Atmosphere was good that was the bonus for this place. Staff were polite, just not the most efficient apart from the kitchen staff and glass collectors.

We came a month ago for my niece's hen do and the food, service and atmosphere were great with a real party vibe. Unfortunately, heavy rain spoiled the evening, pouring through the ceiling on to our party tables. Sam was really quick to act at the time, moving us to new tables and bringing free drinks; however, he also went above and beyond and invited us back for a complimentary evening. We had hen do no.2 this weekend 😊. Thank you Sam for looking after us; you made it an absolutely wonderful experience - definitely recommend the venue for a party celebration, OUTSTANDING customer care!

This is a really nice welcoming bar that straddles two pedestrianised roads. They have a really great selection on tap and the staff are very nice. There is a good size terrace. However, I only lasted 20 minutes in the late February weather before I retreated back inside. The bar plays great music ( jazz funk disco whilst i was there ) and seems to attract a young trendy crowd, though I didn't feel out of place or unwelcome as a 50 plus year old. I didn't eat there, so I haven't rated the food.

Always loved terrace however, tonight we went as a group and one of our friends Was sick so a guy told us so politely we needed to leave. We said yeah no problem didn’t cause a fuss and understood. We got told to go out the back where there was a bouncer, older guy about 50 stocky who was so aggressive with us. I said sorry I’m just opening my umbrella. He slammed the door shut, I opened it up and he shouted something to me, I said this is a little dramatic he shouted something back to me which I couldn’t really understand. I told him his attitude stinks to which he replied so did mine (even though we barely exchanged words) pushed us all out and tried slamming the door so my friend was stuck between the door. Not really sure where the logic was in that as he wanted us out? Then proceeded to shove her. I’m sure this will be overlooked but think a word is needed. Don’t touch people, especially who are so small in comparison, I’m sure he wouldn’t touch his own daughter like that.

Will not be returning to this place! The manager jack is extremely unprofessional when dealing with situations, he snatched my phone out of my hand as I attempted to turn my torch on he was under the impression i was going on to my camera, before I could even turn the torch on MY phone was snatched from my hands by jack the so called manager, as proven on CCTV footage. The bouncers are aggressive and rude. As a women I did not feel welcomed by this place nor safe, and because of those actions by male staff I will not return and would not recommend young females to go either, as clearly the men like to take male dominance to their advantage.
Caitlin S — Google review
I would give terrace 0 stars if I could. We were in the queue and we got told by a bouncer we weren't allowed to drink. Bare in mind, (1) Other people were drinking (2) we were on the PUBLIC street, therefore we have every right to drink whatever we want (3) As soon as were told, we put the alcohol on the floor and said sorry, because we were unaware of the rule as we have never encountered this before anywhere else. The bouncers were extremely rude and we queued for over an hour, just for them to kick us out. I am extremely disappointed with the bouncers, and I want to get an answer from Terrace as to why we encountered this behaviour? This is unacceptable.

Albert's Schloss in Manchester is a Bavarian-style beer cellar that offers traditional German food and a variety of pilsner beers on tap and in bottles. It's known as a top spot for brunch, featuring a menu with options like the Cook Haus breakfast, Salmon Royale, wild mushroom and spinach toast, and the Schlossage Sandwich. The establishment also bakes its own breads, pastries, cruffins, and kronuts in-house every weekend.
I absolutely loved my experience at Albert’s Schloss in Manchester! The ambiance is beautiful, warm, lively, and full of character. The food was incredibly good; I tried the eggs + mushrooms, the Shakshuka, the cappuccino, and the Bono chocolate. My favorite had to be the eggs with mushrooms, so delicious. The service was outstanding as well. Our waiter was very sweet, super friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I also really enjoyed the overall vibes, a perfect mix of energy and coziness. I would definitely come here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Manchester!

Albert's Schloss brings a real taste of Oktoberfest to Manchester, and it's hard not to get swept up in the lively yet relaxed atmosphere. We went in the evening and the place was absolutely buzzing with people - it felt festive without being overwhelming. The live performance kicked off around 8pm, adding great energy to the night and making it feel more like an event than just dinner. Food-wise, we shared a platter for four that came piled high with pork knuckles, a variety of sausages, schnitzels, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and sauerkraut. The portion was generous and everything was cooked really well - hearty, comforting food that suited the setting perfectly. Drinks were another highlight, with an extensive selection of beers, wines, and cocktails to choose from. The beer in particular was spot on for the theme. Overall, Albert's Schloss is a great choice if you're after good food, plenty to drink, and a lively night out with a Bavarian twist.

Albert’s Schloss in Manchester never disappoints. I visited on 24th August for Sunday lunch with my Nan, Aunt and two friends for a birthday celebration, and, as usual, it was beautiful. The portions are generous, the pork knuckle was so huge it was impossible to finish, and all the accompaniments were cooked to perfection. From start to finish, the food and service were amazing. I especially want to highlight our waitress, who went absolutely above and beyond when my friend was taken ill and had to leave dinner early. She was outstanding and really tried to make everything better. A huge thank you to her and kudos to the staff. 🙏🏻

Having recently fallen in love with the food, drink, and atmosphere of Bavaria itself, I was lucky enough to stumble across this restaurant in Manchester via Google Maps. My timing must have been perfect, as the Oktoberfest specials were still running. I must emphasize that this was, without question, the best meal I have ever had at any restaurant, ever. The moment I approached, the curb appeal filled me with confidence. The place looked as though it had been lifted straight out of Bavaria and perfectly placed in Manchester. Upon entry, I was blown away. The interior featured a nicely laid-out dining area to the left, a cozy open fire with surrounding seating directly ahead, and large, long wooden tables and benches to the right, all backed by an impressive bar stocked with real German draft beers and a separate cocktail bar to the left. The setting was truly stunning. I was seated in a booth and immediately ordered the Schweinshaxe—the Crispy Bavarian roasted pork knuckle. The menu described it perfectly: "brined for 12 hours before being rubbed in spices and roasted for 3 hours. Served with braised red cabbage and apple and a rich red wine gravy." I paired it with a real Bavarian Weißbier (wheat beer), it was simply divine. The pork nuckle was huge and mainly meat which was fork tender and not too fatty, it had the most perfect crackling too. The braised red cabbage and red wine gravy paid beautifully and cut through the richness of the meat, all that for £19.50. This dish is too good to be seasonal; they absolutely need to add it to the menu all year round! The staff were brilliant throughout the meal. I was served by Alexandro, who was exceptionally polite and attentive. The combination of incredible food, authentic atmosphere, and excellent service made for an unforgettable dining experience

Had a great night out! The food was spot on, and the drinks were perfect—definitely no complaints there. The team really made the experience special with their warm welcomes and checking in on us throughout the night. Only downside was the music was a bit too loud to have a decent chat, but everything else was a solid 10/10. Looking forward to coming back!

Looking forward to our next visit!

We visited for a birthday lunch, joined by my wife and daughter. We ordered three drinks – a Long Island Iced Tea, a Virgin Mojito, and a Forest Fruit Sour – all of which were well presented and enjoyable. For food, we had the Schweinshaxe, Schnitzel Cordon Bleu, and Mushroom & Spinach Mafalde. The Schweinshaxe came with a side of sauerkraut which was slightly on the sweet side – quite different from what I’ve had in Germany. While the sweetness might have been intended to balance the richness of the pork knuckle, it didn’t quite cut through the fattiness as expected. The crackling was perfectly crisp and the fatty layer underneath was soft and flavourful, but the lean meat was a little overcooked and therefore slightly tough. The Schnitzel Cordon Bleu was nicely prepared overall, though the texture of the meat was on the firm side – perhaps due to the cut used. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Mushroom & Spinach Mafalde. The pasta had a delightful chewiness, and the sauce was rich, creamy and full of flavour. Overall, the food was quite good, though the seasoning leaned a little heavy for my taste. The service, however, was excellent – Greg was polite, friendly and had a great sense of humour, and the other male waiter, though he didn’t mention his name, was equally courteous.

Had a fantastic experience here tonight. One of my favourite dishes when I go to Germany is Schweinhaxe. As it is Oktoberfest season, this was on the menu as a special... so I had to didnt I? Started with a warm pretzel served with a sweet sticky mustard sauce and pickled sliced cucumber. Delish!!! I ordered the afore mentioned main with roasted potatoes. I didn't really need them, as the portion was huge, but they were also delicious as was the spiced red cabbage the knuckle sat on. Tender pork with crunchy and chewy crackling, all washed down with superb beer. A grand meal! I hadnt booked, but was accommodated with my dog. Overall, a great atmosphere, beer and food. But what was OUTSTANDING was the service from Afi, my server, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Great service makes such a difference. I wont hesitate to return when I'm next in Manchester!

Port Street Beer House is a haven for beer enthusiasts, offering an impressive selection of local, national, and international brews. Even if you're not a brewing expert, the knowledgeable staff can guide you to find the perfect drink.
I always make an effort to visit here, it’s my favourite pub and well worth the 45 minute train journey! Nice staff and they always have decent beers on tap which are always changing and have a lot of bottles to choose from as well. There are board games and snacks too for those who fancy that.

The original Manchester craft beer bar. It's a fantastic place for any beer lover. They've been serving the best selection of locally and imported beer for years. The staff are always brilliant and very patient while I spend way too long choosing my pint. Thank you for another lovely visit.

Port Street Beer House opened in early 2011 and was the first of modern beer bars in the Northern Quarter, transforming a backstreet retail space into a vibrant pub. Outdoor seating at the front and a beer garden at the rear, with more seating on the first floor. The only downside is that the toilets are upstairs, which can create problems if you are disabled. Manchester illustrator David Bailey’s large cartoon mural on the exterior and framed prints inside add to the character of the pub. A great selection of draught and keg beers from 4% pale ales to 11% imperial stouts. When I visited, there was a 20% cask beer discount from noon to 4 PM, Monday to Friday.

The venue also offers breakfast and brunch dishes along with premium coffee. Additionally, they host a bottomless brunch with various drink options and dietary accommodations.
Good offers, cheap prices, beautiful decor and excellent service. What more could you ask for? I loved my long conversation with the bartender, he seemed really engaged which is amazing and poured me a bottle that he had never poured before and that was delicious. Kinda looked like O’Shea Jackson

I came to Manchester to visit the university and had seen Atlas Bar online. I wanted to visit because it looked really cute but it completely surpassed my expectations. The bartender, Naomi, was extremely knowledgeable about gin. I believe she said Atlas carries around 580 different types of gin. My mom did not think she liked gin at all but Naomi helped her sample a few different ones until she found a couple that she really likes and wants to try at home now! Not only did Naomi offer a lot of information about gin, she also was very kind and friendly to us and told us about life in Manchester. We felt very taken care of by Naomi and Natalie who were both lovely and were lucky enough to have a seat on the back patio, which was very comfortable with the heaters despite the cold weather outside. We had a fantastic time and I can’t wait to return on my next visit to Manchester.

Edit to add: Atlas Bar's unprofessional and unaccountable response to my genuine review has cemented that I'll never go back. Very unfortunate. How are they supposed to see tone of voice and facial smirks from CCTV? They are family run, they know the person I'm complaining about so they instinctively take an opposition to me - and blame me for not raising issue with management. It shouldn't be on the customer to keep management appraised of problems. Had I wanted to raise an issue I could have done so directly with the individual I'm complaining about but I wasn't there to manage their bar. Instead of seeing this review as "damaging", to them, tunnel vision on their own ego, I wish they'd seen the negative experience being reported and made any attempt to put it right. Original review: Used to always love coming in here for a drink. Went in last night (Sunday 23/2/25) about 8pm and the blonde behind the bar was absolutely seething with rage. Either at me or at her own life and her own journey through this world who knows. Did my best British politeness with minimal interactions but she didn't warm up one ioata. Whiskey was good, food was great, just the atmosphere was brought down from the usual Atlas Bar experience and service would have been better from a robot. Overall just unfortunate.

If you're looking for a real Manchester burger fix, Almost Famous is the place to go. With two locations in the city and plenty of exciting variations on the classic burger, there's something for everyone. And don't forget their seriously good cocktails – perfect for enjoying with friends (or at least pretending to).
I’ve been to Almost Famous NQ multiple times previously but this is the first time I’ve visited since it moved to the new location. It was a Saturday afternoon and very busy so we were unable to get a table inside, the weather wasn’t bad so we were happy to sit outside. Food has always been good although the prices have crept up a little since last time I visited. I ordered the Awesome HQ burger and Bacon Bacon Fries, the food arrived within 20-30 mins and was as nice as I remember. I would recommend this place and I’m looking forward to visiting again soon.

Had the Awesome HQ and Bacon fries. Very tasty burger, great flavour to the sauce, patties were firm and good quality. Maybe the best bacon's fries I've had, very good. Situated down a good street with other food and bars, quiet when we were there but probably has a good vibe when weathers good and it's busy.

I had the awsome hq. Burger was very tasty but it was mainly because of the sauces than the beef. Beef was tender but looked abit on cheap side for the price and wasnt very stong tasting. The chicken was so tender yet crispy on outside and tasty. Best chicken i had in a long time. If the beef patties improve it will be the perfect burger. Chips abit too hard for me personally but still tasty. We will definitely be back. Thanks for the lovely lunch 🙂

Portions are generous, the menu’s bursting with options, and the kids’ meals are top-notch value 👌. Always a pleasure, never a crumb left behind!

It was alright for what it was but I won't be going back. The place was empty and we got seated straight away... but to say we were 1 of 3 other couples in the whole place our order seemed to take forever to be fulfilled, even the fries were over seasoned (quite salty), the coating on the chicken burger I ordered was close to being burnt and we left wishing we'd been elsewhere to eat The Guinness was a decent pint though 🤷🏼‍♂️

What a burger!! First time here and loved it. The Awesome HQ burger-2 patties, 2 tenders-all over ya face n dripping down ya hands filthy animal delicious. Could’ve ate two!! Bacon bacon loaded fries also canny. But the burger, did I mention the burger?! If you’re a fan of a filthy burger then this is your place. Thank me later.
Gary M — Google review
Came here as the nearby Super Awesome Deluxe was closed. The only thing juicy about the Juicy Double was the masses of condiments overpowering the neither pink nor smashed patties... And nearly a 40 min wait. There's a reason it is merely only "almost" famous.

Common is a vibrant bar in the heart of Manchester's trendy Northern Quarter. It offers inventive cocktails, New York-style pizza, and hosts events in a gallery space. The establishment prides itself on serving the best dough and ingredients for its pizzas, using British organic flour and locally sourced cheese and meat. Common also operates as a bakery and cafe, serving award-winning breakfast options alongside traditional favorites like fry ups.
Lovely food and vibes!!! good live music and good service too!
Elspeth G — Google review
Nice bar to catch up with friends in, as it has a relaxed and laid back vibe. The music is good and not overly loud. You can get Nell's Pizza here, which is always a win, we also tried the ice cream sandwiches, a fun concept but a bit dificult to eat. You can order drinks at the bar or by a QR code but the QR menu doesn't list all the available drinks.
Ama A — Google review
How can something be so soft and so crunchy at the same time? This pizza doesn’t ruin your vibe with excessive dough. It coerces you into another slice by being so seemingly innocent. You can’t help yourself. This is addictive, rewarding, devilish, naughty and so, so satisfying. I hate myself for eating a 14” pizza on my own, but I loved every second of it.
Luke P — Google review
First visit back following a 9 year boycott (rude staff experience). I'm pleased to report that the staff were very pleasant this time round. Nell's pizza good. Slow drinks service via QR code but it was a Friday night. Music too loud though.

Great for indoor and street beer. Staff are lovely and service is good too. Happy hours through the week too.
Thom C — Google review
Great laid back vibe. Walk in and grab a table, then order at the bar. The tempeh and fries were excellent, as was the small fry up. Took around 30 minutes for food to arrive but was warned when ordering so not a problem. Excellent value as well. Recommended.
Lewis T — Google review
The place is charming and joyful. The food was not that great. The tofu sandwich was dry and plain with the kick of a spicy sauce that wasn't so pleasant. The falafel dish was also bland. Not worthy for the price. However, it seems like a nice place for drinks.
Victuallicious — Google review
We used it as a cafe on Sunday afternoon. We had a lot of luggage because we needed to move to the next town, but the cafe was spacious and comfortable. The latte was free with oats milk, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere of the English brickwork was also nice.

Nestled on the fringes of Manchester's Northern Quarter, Bar Fringe is a vibrant and quirky pub that beckons beer enthusiasts with its impressive selection. The decor is a delightful mix of eclectic items, featuring everything from cardboard cutouts of pop culture icons to whimsical sculptures. Known for its commendable real ale offerings, this charming spot truly shines with an extensive range of European beers, particularly those hailing from Belgium.
Great bar with plenty of cask & keg beers on tap along with done Belgium beers, some great decor, like a motor bike on the wall. Staff very friendly and good prices
David F — Google review
A consistently excellent pub in Manchester city centre. It offers up to 5 real ales on draft along with German and Belgium lager. Beer garden at the rear for the occasional sunny day!
Andy H — Google review
Easy bar….great pub. Walk in grab a pint and a seat and chill drink some delicious Belgium beers and listen to the world go by. I really love this place it has a friendly atmosphere from people of all walks of life. Delirium is delicious too and it makes me want to visit Belgium 🇧🇪.

Tucked away in the Northern Quarter, Bar Fringe is one of those places that instantly makes you feel at home. The inside of the pub is decorated beautifully, with a quirky mix of vintage charm and character that gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. Every corner seems to have something interesting to look at, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet full of personality. What really sets Bar Fringe apart, though, is its beer selection—especially if you’re a fan of Belgian brews. The range is top notch, with an impressive variety of strong, flavourful options you won’t find in your average pub. Whether you’re into Trappist ales or fruity lambics, there’s something here to satisfy any palate. A perfect spot for anyone who appreciates great beer in a place with real soul.

11/04/24: Delirium Red or Delorian as Rob calls it! 01/04/24: Delirium Red 30/01/24: met Milo the Kangol/Rhodesian Ridgeback tonight for some play in the bar. Playing bitey face! We sat back and enjoyed Lilley's Mango cider and Green Duck Beer Co: Duck Dastardly (dandelion & burdock) stout! 20/01/24: been here many times in my lifetime. Rock/Belgium beer hub of NQ. Today exceptional service today from Dan. Bar Fringe (can't believe I've not received before) always great for Belgium beers and just spotted Lilly's Cider. Massive contrast but fantastic!

Small but really lively pub, definitely one for beer drinkers - huge selection of different, mostly Belgian, beers on draft. No Hoegaarden any more though which was a bit disappointing. Decor is eclectic in a good way and there’s so many little bits dotted around the place which catch the eye. Big beer garden out the back which they’ve done really well with the space they have.

Nice quirky bar with lots of Belgian and European beers. Will visit again

Long standing pearl of the Northern Quarter. Excellent selection of real ales plus ciders and foreign beers. Always had a friendly and helpful service. Wife and daughter always feel comfortable drinking here. Martin Meerkat loves this bar.

Gay bar
The Eagle Bar is a Manchester gay bar located in an industrial basement setting, with regular gigs and open mic nights showcasing the city's freshest talent. It also has a jukebox packed with classics.
My favourite gay venue in the UK, and I say that as someone who's been around the block a few times! It couples the sexy vibe of gay clubbing from the 1990s with the attitude-free, diverse and welcoming vibe that you now get in the 2020s, which to me represents major progress. Yes, it's men only (including trans men, which is as it should be), but beyond that, it really doesn't matter what age or body size you are, or where you stand in the perceived pecking order of good looks. It's a friendly place, where it's easy to fall into conversaton with new people, and the overall atmosphere is fun and flirty. I've never had a bad night there.

Embarrassing when us customers in Pride day we have spent more than two hundred pound and we asked the security to go buy some chicken nuggets and get back in and then after 5/10 mins he forced us to queue us while. Plenty others he was letting them in through the exit ! The bar should be shameful for not looking after their customers and not even providing a stamp!
World T — Google review
Can't rate the food as didn't eat but service and armosphere were great. This was my First visit to a Gay Bar as my.curiosity had seriously got the better of me as i'd had a few Beers before hand. I walked in and headed straight downstairs, ordered a Beer and sat at a table, looking seeing who was in, had no idea what I waa doing? A guy came over and we started chatting, obviously about our sexual exploits - Lymm Services and a Toilet in Wodnes were mine, amongst others. After a while, I had to.visit the.'Mens Room' well that was fun, in every sense of the word.
Hornee O — Google review
I live in Brighton and visited this bar for the first time last weekend during Manchester Leather Weekend, but unfortunately my experience was extremely upsetting. While I was there, someone tried to touch me without my consent. When I raised it with a member of staff, their response was, “It’s a gay bar, that’s going to happen here,” before rushing off as though they had something more important to do. That sort of behaviour should never be normalised or dismissed, regardless of the venue or event. Even worse, when I later pointed out the individual to a friend I was visiting with, I was told that the person was actually one of the managers. As someone visiting Manchester for the first time, this left me shocked and deeply uncomfortable. Bars especially those that present themselves as safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community should take consent and safety seriously. No one should ever feel unsafe or unheard in an environment that’s meant to celebrate inclusion and respect.
Ryan C — Google review
My review is referring to my visit on 29/3/2025… The place look cool in the basement. Felt like a meeting point for locals. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful with the right drink choices. They’re also selling their own brand (t-shirts, hoodies etc) so I could purchase some cool t-shirts from Manchester as a souvenir. I have a little mixed feeling about the place’s atmosphere as can’t make a decision what kings of bar it was - a cruising area, a meeting point or something more?! I’d definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to visit the city of Manchester. Prices are friendly, the place is dark with red lights.
