You can find all the technical and historical details about this cave on the net. So whatever I say is superfluous. The application offers you a particularly well-thought-out, interpreted story that will put your imagination to work and transport you into an imaginary world. I recommend you not to miss them if you come on vacation.
The caves are excellent, and unlike anything I’ve ever visited before. The audio tour is great and very informative. However the caves get very busy which really make moving around fairly difficult. The caves are also quite expensive and for a family of 6 cost over $100. Despite this the caves are a really unique and beautiful experience that I do recommend.
Amazing experience and a must do when in Nerja. We bought tickets just by Riu Monica hotel by the train stop. Train takes about 15 mins to get there. Had a drink at the cafe which has amazing views. Take headphones as can download tour guide when there.
The Cueva de Nerja is, without a doubt, a must-see natural wonder on the Costa del Sol. This spectacular cave system offers a truly awe-inspiring journey into the geological history of Andalusia. The sheer size and grandeur of the caverns are breathtaking. The cave boasts one of the world's most impressive geological features: a colossal, record-breaking stalagnate (a column formed by the fusion of a stalactite and stalagmite), which dominates the 'Cataclysm Gallery.' The rich formations, beautifully illuminated, showcase a mesmerizing array of stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone. Beyond its natural beauty, the Cueva de Nerja is an invaluable archaeological treasure, containing prehistoric paintings and evidence of human occupation dating back tens of thousands of years. This dual nature—as a geological masterpiece and a historical site—makes the visit profoundly enriching. The tourist route is well-maintained and clearly signposted, providing a comfortable and safe experience. Moreover, the pleasantly cool underground climate offers a welcome respite from the Spanish heat. In summary, Cueva de Nerja is a spectacular and fascinating natural monument that beautifully marries epic natural formation with deep human history. It is an unforgettable experience.
Such an amazing place! The Nerja Caves are huge and so beautiful. The lights make everything look magical. It’s very clean, easy to walk around, and really well organized. A wonderful experience, totally worth visiting if you’re on the Costa del Sol!
Great place to visit. Audio guide is excellent. Make sure you bring your Bluetooth headphones for the audio guide because it's based on your cell phone. I do recommend getting tickets early if possible especially in the peak season because it can sell out. It's really nice and cool inside the caves and it's nice and hot outside. Don't forget to validate your parking and pay for it before you leave.
Enormously huge cave. 48h before your visit they release a limited 60 tickets for free. Definitely worth the visit. Temperature inside is the same or even warmer (visited in October). You can even download a free audioguide in many languages.
The caves were much bigger than I had expected. You would expect it to be cooler in the caves but it is warm but more humid as you get to the deepest part. Very enjoyable visit along with the VR show! Check it out!

Nice beach, fun vibes. Lots of activities. Parking a bit difficult but doable. Lots of beds are reserved so apparently that's a thing. You can reserve a bed ahead of time. The water is nice and blue and clear. The surroundings are beautiful. Medium to high in terms of how busy it is
We visited twice. In the first day the water was very calm and the beach had pebbles - 2 days later the beach was sandy and the water cold and “angry”. The entrance in the water is pretty deep. At every 2 steps the difference is more than 50cm depth. After 2 meters I wasn’t touching the bottom anymore. The color is wonderful, a very clean turquoise. If you want sun-beds you have to come early and you still might have low chances because people do reservations in advance. But there is room on the beach for towels and own umbrella if you are inspired enough to bring one.
The beach is set in a stunning natural landscape, with soft sand and a very welcoming atmosphere. There is free parking available right next to the beach, though it’s best to arrive early as spaces fill up quickly. On-site, you’ll find public restrooms and free water stations, which is a great convenience. There are also plenty of options nearby to grab a meal or enjoy a refreshing drink. For those looking for activities, you can rent a kayak or simply relax under a parasol with sunbeds. Overall, it’s a beautiful spot and definitely a place worth returning to.
Very nice beach, lots of people and umbrellas, but everyone can find a place. Lots of parking but very hard to find a free spot, but with pacience it can be done. The entrace in the sea water is kind of rough, water gets over your dead pretty fast from the shore. Lots of restaurants and shopping store near the beach.
Fine gravel beach, that has public toilets close by. Nice clean beach and clear sea, good for snorkeling. Promenade is lined with shops, Bars & Restaurants
We arrived here at the beach around 1 PM and none of the beach clubs had any places left as they were already full and we couldn’t rent any sunbeds or umbrellas, so instead of leaving this beach, we decided to buy beach chairs and a umbrella from a store nearby which costed us around hundred euros for two people, but this allowed us to pick a spot that we would prefer a bit further from people. The water is very cold I would say but the beach is well organized with showers and many bars or restaurants around it so you could really enjoy your beach day but maybe if you’re really into swimming not really the best place to be.
Lively and buzzing family beach. Great reasonably priced restaurants. Clean and free toilets. Definitely recommend the kayaking, which is great fun. Pedalos are great fun too…as long as a sudden squall does not appear. One of my favourite European family beaches.
Absolutely lovely beach. Nice shops and restaurants. Crushed stone like sand but beautiful crystal clear water when calm.

This walk is great. Walking through the stream on a hot day is fab. We've done this walk a few times, and are always surprised when we see young children, its not an easy walk. In some places the water can get quite deep, and you have to watch every step as there's rocks and boulders in the water. In saying that, it's a great walk, takes a few hours, but plenty of places to stop for a picnic, and a great waterfall to see.
A fine trail, though disappointing at the end, definitely not spectacular :)The end of the trail is not obvious and can be easily missed! I recommend to start your journey early, we were there at 7:30 and it was perfect, without sun bothering us. If you're going there make sure you have good walking shoes on, with hard sole, otherwise the walk back on these rocks will be unbearable :)
You have to walk quite a bit in a dry riverbed before you will reach the actual river. When you there is really nice and refreshing.
Chíllar Río is a beautiful area with impressive nature and a nice walking path along the river. The scenery is worth the visit, especially if you enjoy hiking and quiet surroundings. However, we didn’t manage to reach any suitable spot for swimming, even though we walked quite far. The path can also be uneven and slippery in places, so proper shoes are recommended
Absolutely stunning walk/hike. Especially of a hot day as when you get to the river it’s so refreshing.
This hiking area is closed due to danger and too many people in the last years.
It was a nice place however the river was dry and took quite a while to get to the river
Good way for walking, nice views

A nice rather little church at the plaza. Quiet, clean, good for contemplation and admire the artists who had crafted the interior.
A small church close by the Balcon de Europe. Lovely architecture and nativity scene when we visited in January. We wanted to light a candle and were a little disappointed after putting 1€ in the slot nothing happened. The gentleman at the entrance did not understand so we made a donation at the door.
A very pretty, small and quite intimate church in the heart of Nerja. It's a pleasure to enter, even for a moment, to pray. Cool and very atmospheric. It's worth a quick visit if you're nearby.
I do love this Chapel for its location in the centre of Nerja. I've visited regularly over the past 10 years or more when in Nerja. I love to see a wedding or celebration unfolding as the warm days endure. It's beautiful. The reason for my 4 stars is there are no candles to light anymore. They've been replaced by plastic - made in China battery operated ones which frankly is disappointing and makes the whole place feel a bit fake and a façade. Jesus wept
A beautiful church near the balcony of Europe. Built and decorated in the Baroque and Rococo style. A style that highlights the ornaments and the rounded design. The golden color dominates all the statues, the picture frames, especially in the altar area. There are many chapels around the central nave. The place is active and prayers and confessions are held there
Visited Sunday evening during mass, it was wonderful to see so many people attending, young and old. The doors were wide open for anyone to enter, watched the blessing and viewed the spectacular art work.
The 17th century  Church of El Salvador – Iglesia El Salvador – is located on the edge of the Balcón de Europa and is close to what was once the old Guards Tower. It is not overly ornate in the interior and has quite a sort of relaxing feel to it. Well worth a visit. Looks good at night, too. The original church was erected in 1505, although the existing structure was not actually built until much later, in 1697. The very tall tree in front of the church is a Norfolk Island Pine which was brought to Nerja at the turn of the 20th century. On the front of the church are two quite large and typical ceramic tile plaques, one detailing the history of the church, the other a colourful religious scene. The exterior features a four-sided bell tower, originally built in 1724 but later reformed. A nice and ornate Rosas clock also adorns the bell tower. The interior has a number of 18th century frescoes and a contemporary mural of the annunciation by the painter Francisco Hernandez. There is also a bronze statue of Christ by Aurelio Teno, a famous Córdoban sculptor who has other works (Rapto de Europa and the horseman in calle Málaga) on prominent display in Nerja.
Interior without excessive ornamentation with many figures. You can be surrounded by hundreds of people on the Balcony of Europe and in a moment find yourself in a church where silence will surround you.

Slide 1 of 8
Must see. These is a beautiful easy walking path with fantastic views. Starting in nerja caves to nerja beaches, which really passes by the aqueduct. The aqueduct was under restoration in 2010 and looks fantastic Path also goes along the maro fabric and beautifully takes you to the beach
We stopped to picture this on the walk back down from the caves and also from the tourist train. Constructed in the 19th century, the aqueduct was built to transport water from the Maro River to the nearby San Joaquín sugar mill. It consists of four levels of arches, totalling 37 arches, and stands approximately 40 meters tall and 90 meters wide. The aqueduct is still in use today, supplying water for local irrigation.
We had a quick stop in one of the lay-by stops on either side of the adjacent bridge. This site is really easy to photograph and not an overcrowded tourist spot
It was worth a quick stop and a photo… I recommend seeing it from the bridge, not walking to it from the ground.
Nice to see, but it looks a little bit neglected
Worth a wander up from town if you don't have transport, about 20 mins easy walk, or stop by car if you do. Beautiful 200 year old aqueduct built for the nearby ruined sugar mill. Good photos from the road bridge but also it is good to walk down to it (and further on to the private beach if you have time). Yes a few homeless people have built tiny shacks nearby but they are friendly and will avoid you. It is 100 times worse walking through a British city centre so don't let that put you off.
Worthwhile stop if you are in the area but not worth going out of your way for. There is parking on either side of the bridge along N-340. You can also drive 5min to "Parking para Cala Barranco de Maro" along a rough paved road in order to make a 5min walk down to the base of the Aqueduct.
The best vantage point is from the parking 'mirador de acueducto': 36.7569287,-3.8502772. From here, there leads a little footpath to the top of the aquaeduct.

Museum of the village of Nerja is a must see! We took a full tour of the museum which was so informative. The perfect place to learn about the culture and history of the municipality of Nerja and many secrets of the Nerja Cave. Then, we did a tour of the Nerja Cave: one of the most spectacular caves in Spain. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 2006. (:
Great little museum. It's strength is the finds from the nerja cave. Some really nice stone arrowheads, pottery shards etc. the display panels offer an excellent overview of the Phoenician, Roman and arab periods.
Interesting museum and a decent price. Loved learning more about the Nerja Caves and the city of Nerja. I didn't know the Olympic torch was carried through the coty in 1992. The movie about the caves was ver educational. The exhibit on the music festival was fun to learn. Not a bad way to spend an hour.
Great museum, covering prehistory, Phoenicians, Romans, Islamic, Spanish reconquest, right up to the modern day. Not afraid to tackle the Spanish civil war and aftermath with the Maquis fight against the Franco regime till the 1950s. Then on to tourism, the caves, industrial age and up to date. A great place to escape the heat in summer mad the rain of winter. Always visit and support local museums
A very nice place to visit in conjunction with the Cave of Nerja. The kids audio game made the visit very interesting for my 8-year-old son. The exhibitions are very interesting and privide lots of information about the area. A must see!
Nice Museum with lots of history, information on Nerja and the surrounding area. Cheap entry price and an underground car park nearby. Recommend.
It was a good visit after seeing the actual Nerja caves. The museum explains the history of Nerja town. It also explains the history of the Nerja caves. It has lot of artifacts from Nerja caves explaining everything. The audio guide was quite helpful to explain the artifacts.
Great little museum nice that there's no charge if you have retained your entry to the caves within 10 days. Very interesting artwork in exh. Staff lovely and very helpful.

Remote sandy cove popular with snorkelers, featuring clear water & a restaurant/bar.
Slide 1 of 8
I’ve been to many beaches all over the world, but this one has to be the best one ever. Such a beautiful beach with nice water. 👍👍
Cala del Cañuelo is a quiet, pebbled beach hidden in the cliffs near Nerja, inside the Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Park. It has a calm, secluded feel, not too busy even in summer, and the water is strikingly clear. The beach itself is about half a mile long, edged with large rocks and backed by steep hills, giving it a more enclosed, peaceful atmosphere (it’s not a sandy beach). This is a place to explore, swim, snorkel, and enjoy the water. To get there, you’ll need to park at Aparcamiento Playa del Cañuelo, just off the N-340 road. From the car park, minivans take you down a steep, winding road to the beach for €2.30 per person (cash only). The ride is short, just under 10 minutes, and the views on the way down are worth paying attention to. The vans also have space for gear in the back, so you can bring chairs, umbrellas, paddle boards, or bags without issue. I recall that van shuttles will have space for about 12-14 people (so bear that in mind). It’s a beach that rewards being prepared. Water shoes are essential - not just for walking on the pebbles, but for climbing over rocks or navigating the shoreline, which can get slippery. A snorkel and mask are highly recommended. Visibility underwater is excellent, and there’s a surprising amount of sea life even close to shore: small fish, red fish attached to the rocks, jellyfish, crabs, and more. If you have a paddle board, bring it - the water is usually flat and calm, with barely any waves, making it perfect for paddling. There’s one Chiringuito restaurant right on the beach where you can get food, drinks, and ice cream (note there are sun beds too, I believe property of the restaurant, so you’d need to call and enquire). It has a nice view over the water and a relaxed vibe, but it gets busy, especially around lunchtime. If you’re planning to have a proper meal there, it’s best to book ahead. If not, just be ready to wait if you’re hoping to grab a quick coffee or snack - service can slow down during peak hours. The bar accepts cards. It’s a good idea to pack everything you’ll need for the day, plenty of water, snacks or lunch if you don’t want to rely on the restaurant, sun protection, towels, a chair or mat (the pebbles aren’t the most comfortable to lie on), and any gear you plan to use in the water. Cala del Cañuelo isn’t the easiest beach to reach, but that’s part of why it stays quiet. Once you’re there, it’s the kind of place you settle into, explore at your own pace, and leave only when the sun starts to dip.
Lovely beach, very quiet. Long walk down from the car park but a bus is available for 2 euro from 10am till 9pm. We hired sun loungers for €6 each and spent most of the day here. The sea was shallow enough for our 3 year to paddle and very clear for snorkeling. We walked down which was hard work with a toddler and I wouldn't advise the walk in sandals, We saw goats along the footpath tho which made it worth it.
Best place to snorkel in Nerja. We go here often to snorkel, its a nice hike back and forth with stunning views. It takes about 30min to walk down to the beach and close to an hour back up (with a toddler walking) so probably less with only adults. You can take the bus that goes frequently for 6€ pr person. But if you do you will miss the sunset and the quiet this beach has to offer. Be awere this is not a sand beach though, it’s pebbels. Bring bathing shoes. I recomend going here on a weekday.
When we have visited it was not great. Sea was very wavy and dirty with algae. It was impossible to get in the sea to take a bath. Cannot recommend.
What a beautiful beach, warm crystal clear water. No access by car, you park on the top of the cliff, there are 2 shuttle buses take you down to the beach, at low price(cash). The road is narrow with lots of turns seems like you are in safari trip 😁, we loved the hole experience. Highly recommend.
Amazing beach with clear and clean water. We loved it. It’s a pebble beach and there are 2 chiringuitos. Secluded and far from everything (there’s nothing around and you can only get there with own transport), so you’re truly in the middle of nature. The beach was pretty full (end August) but it was still very calm and had a relaxing atmosphere. There were a few shuttle busses on the way down and 4 around 8:30-9:30PM when we were waiting in line to take it. It’s €2.25 per person round trip. Beware of jellyfishes at times. We also saw wild piggies :) Overall I don’t understand the complains. It was a great experience except when we waited 45 minutes for the shuttle bus, so if you don’t want to wait then make sure to leave earlier before 8PM.
Amazing small beach with mixture of small rocks and sand. The shore is sandy and very seclude, so great to stay with the kids. We were in September and it was very quiet and not crowded. You need to take a shuttle bus (only during the high season and the price is 2 eur per person for a return ticket) or walk pretty long distance to reach this beach.

The tapas were chosen from a counter inside, which had a good selection. I tried jamón, patatas bravas, and some meat. They were fresh and tasty, especially the patatas bravas, which had a tasty tomato sauce. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed, but I would have liked a little more attentive service.
It is a place where you can reminisce about an old TV drama. It is a replica of the boat that appeared in the popular 1980s Spanish TV series Verano Azul. In the show, a fisherman named Chanquete lived on this boat and was one of the main characters.
A big attraction for "Verano azul" fans 😃

Spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nerja. Built in the 1980s so a bit frayed around the edges but comfortable non the less. Be aware, loads of steps down to the beach. Recommended.
Stayed in Casa Caracol (apt no. 113) for 2 weeks and it was perfect for us. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped with plenty of cutlery, glasses, plates and utensils. Nice big fridge/freezer which suited us as we mostly ate in, making full use of the bbq on the terrace. The terrace is large and is furnished with 2 sun lounger, a table and 4 chairs, and a corner seating area; it accommodates all of this without it seeming cluttered. The view of the sea from the terrace was also very nice, and it was lo y just to relax there and listen to the waves lapping the shore and the laughter at the beach. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time here and fully intend to return to this apartment.
Fantastic place, nice and quiet, stunning views from the balcony
Fantastic appartment, pool area ,view ,but have to be fully fit to stay there hills are so steep

Small beach but the water quality is great especially on calm days. Almost transparent.
It is a small beach surrounded by white buildings that exude the charm of a traditional Spanish seaside town. Amenities are relatively limited, but being located just below the Balcón de Europa offers great accessibility—though it can be a bit noisy.
Great views, clean water, next to the hotel
Beautiful place, beautiful beach, beautiful sunset 🌇
A cute little beach under Balcon de Europa. The descent is quite long but worth the effort. The Mediterranean Sea in all its beauty and above the white houses of Nerja.
A small and cozy beach with plenty of space, with clear and clean water. Sunbeds must be reserved in advance, but it's extremely expensive compared to Playa Burriana (€22 for two beds vs €6 per bed at Burriana). Bring your own chairs or blankets, and parasol in stead. A small cafe is located there, with good food and cold refreshments at decent prices.
The captivating color of the water at this beach is remarkably more turquoise than that of any nearby beaches, presenting a breathtaking view that entices anyone to dive in from the overlooking plaza. Despite its limited size, which naturally leads to it being more crowded, the beach remains a must-visit destination. Its allure is undeniable, making the occasional hustle and bustle of the crowd worth navigating. The beach is particularly family-friendly, offering a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors of all ages. Adjacent to the beach, there is a high-quality hotel restaurant that adds to the overall experience, providing convenient access to delicious meals and refreshing drinks without having to stray far from the sand and sea. Nice beach just below hotels and restaurant. Chairs available but not sure if you rent it saved for hotel guests. Water was clear, clean and sandy to walk on. Beautiful!

Beautiful theatre/cinema lots of cultural & art exibitions/shows & performances. The cost for a show/ performance is so inexpensive. It is a delight to have such an important facility in Nerja.
Fabulous venue. All very well organised. Lot going on.
Very good performance of Old Havana !
Great location. have seen some fantastic performances here. The sound system for the cinema is amazing!
We went to see a rock band Hollee, they were very good and only €10. It is worth checking events there is often a variety of shows all at a reasonable price. Ticket office is open 10 till 2.
Absolutely brilliant. Very well run. Shows and English films. Icing on the cake during our stay in Nerja
It’s nice to have a theatre/cinema right in town. Easy access, comfortable seating. Tickets are always reasonably priced.

A small(ish) and lovely beach in Nerja. Clean, calm and perfect for sunbathing and/or swimming! No complaints.
Lovely beach area to wander around Nerja. We visited in early March, the weather was amazing but still low season so not so busy. Beach was lovely and clean and water really clear. Some diggers along the beach doing work before the high season sets-in so good to see it’s up-keep is important. Long path along the coast to wander numerous km’s.
The beach is large, there is plenty of space. The beach has fine sand, there are no sun loungers. The bar is right above the beach. There were very big waves, so swimming was prohibited.
Enjoy this beautiful, small beach in Nerja, located near many restaurants and cafes. There are also restrooms and a shower available to rinse off sand before leaving.
It's a wanderful beach, the water is clear and you can see many fishes. Is perfect also for disabled people. On the beach you can find shower and toilette for free. Enjoy!
Great beach if not already bit pebbly
Loved this beach, can get very busy. There are bathers from 8am and if you want to hire sun beds you need to go early on a weekday and hire for the week. You maybe lucky late in the afternoon, forget trying at the weekend. There are no activities or places to hire paddle boards etc. It's safe, take sliders or some kind of footwear the sand can be very very hot.

Flea market
Shopping

Absolutely loved it. Lots of bargains to be had. Jewellery, clothes, household items, books, you name it they sell it! You can barter. Nobody hassles you. Feel friendly and welcoming. I would recommend.
They call it a flea market but it really a car boot sale . Usual boot sale fodder including kids toys, clothes etc. Plenty of traders with some nice stuff in amongst the tutt. Some bargains to be had, On a personal note I did pick up an edwardian travel drinks cabinet for 10€
Really lovely little market. Great items for sale here. However not as many fruit and veg stalls as in previous years (maybe Spanish holiday time?)
Visited twice during our holiday. Great choice of ceramics, clothes, underwear, home goods, loads of bags etc. Well laid out & just a great place to visit. There is free parking to the side but this may be full later in the day.
Good sized local market with plenty of traders in clothes and footwear , fruit and veg and leatherware and much more. Well worth a visit. Not to be confused with the fleamarket on a Sunday.
The best market to visit on a Tuesday when in Nerja or Costa del sol. Has everything to suit any age. From clothes, ceramics, shoes. Recommend to locals and tourists.
We visited the Tuesday market. Don't waste your time. The vast majority of the stuff is the same stuff you see the world over nowadays including the same Chinese made fake goods. There was hardly anything local. If they want the market to survive, they need to crack down on this.
This market mainly sells cheap clothes and stuff for tourist but not authentic local products or tasty food , fruit or vegetables. Its not worth the visit.
