Interesting bridge. Not crowded. Peaceful crossing.
This bridge is one of several points where people can move between Thailand and Laos, and vice versa. If you don’t have a pre-approved vehicle to enter Laos, you can buy a bus ticket and cross into Laos on the bus. The bus departs four times a day, and the tickets are sold near the passport control area. Tourists are allowed to visit this facility. We parked our car in the northern carpark which is near the security guard’s office. This border point is located about 10 kilometres north of the tourist city of Nakhon Phanom.
Well, it’s a bridge. This Third Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge connects Nakhon Phanom Province in Thailand with Thakhek, Khammouane Province in Lao PDR. It’s a rather typical design, but seems to attract a steady flow of local tourists—and even a goat! 🐐
Very easy process for foreigners but a lot of waiting around for locals to get back on the bus as they had big queues. I got the bus from Thakhek bus station to Nakhon Phanom and back again for 75 baht each way. 1800 baht for visa on arrival.
Can't across the bridge without public transport (only 4 per day) or by private car.
A must-go cycling check point. I love to start from here, and cycle down south 20 km alongside the Mekong River ... stunning scenery !!!
If you’re a foreigner and starting at Nahkon Phanom Bridge you need a car or taxi from Thailand and a driver who is willing to spend the night . Also on arrival $45 clean dollars bills required for Loa visa. On return expect to fill out the horrible TM - 6 form thats no longer used at Thai international airports. We went to Spring River resort for 9000 baht round trip. Both side of the bridge has large complexes. There was very few people crossing which lead to confusion of where thai and Loa VOA are given .No taxis or rental cars on either side of bridge . Only bus to Tha Kek that leaves every 3 hours ( see hours in picture below )
Very easy border crossing. Took the bus from Thakhek bus station in Laos (75baht/49.000 kip) and arrived (same bus) at Nakhon Phanom bus station about 1,5 hour later.

This is a Catholic church. The church is located opposite the Mekong River. The St Anna Nong Saeng Catholic Church was built in 1926. The building next door was built in the 1950s and is being renovated and converted into a museum that will showcase the Catholic history of the region. The church is located next to the Catholic school.
Interesting co-cathedral. The church house/mansion next to the cathedral is empty and architecturally interesting. Mass is at 15:00 one Sunday a month. Good luck with discovering which Sunday even if you speak Thai but its not the 5th Sunday as we discovered!
Visited Saint Anna Mong Saeng Church on December 24th, Christmas. They have had a Christmas party, like at every Christian church I assume🤣 But everything is a little different in Thailand. Because they had a small parade where they were driving with rich decorated cars around the town of Nakhon Phanom. Similar to the Star Parade in Sakon Nakhon on December 25th, but much smaller. It was as a unique experience and if you are around here on Christmas you should go there for a visit. But don't be a strict catholic because how they threaten the church can be kind of offensive if you from Europe or at least Germany and grown up in catholic believe. For all others come over and have a lot of fun. Party on!
A beautiful, peaceful Catholic Church located almost along the banks of the Mekong River. As a Westerner, I appreciate having the time to spend here with a little reminder of home. 🙏🏼
Was closed on Thursday morning. Interesting to see if you have a car but not worth the long walk from the Naga monument.
Checking out a beautiful and historical building here.
nice large church, old stlye fantastic building and beautiful giant trees
it was difficult trying to find out about Mass time on the internet, hope this helps other Catholics who want to attend...

Worth taking a look at while in Nakhon Phanom. Go breakfast time and eat at the old cafe by the clock tower.
The Vietnam Memorial Clock Tower runs along the bank of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom. It was built by the Vietnamese before they moved back to Vietnam after the war. There were many Vietnamese exiles that lived in Nakhon Phanom and the tower was built as a gesture of kindness in return for Thailand’s hospitality. It’s a nice tower, but the surroundings might be as much of an attraction, such as bars, restaurants and other photo spots for locals and tourists. It’s a nice place to visit, particularly at night or on the weekends.
Stopped by to see the memorial clock sponsored by the local Vietnamese population. We need to do more research on this, but certainly a rich undercurrent of Vietnamese history, including a house of Ho Chi Minh in the town, not too far from the tower. #travelthailand
Beautiful clock tower. Also in the area you will find the central part of the weekend market. Go see it
This landmark have flea every Friday-Sunday evening with many things to shopping. One thing I like to recommend is "ขนมครก" (Kanom Krok) that sell nearby. I was cook with Firewood and coal, Thai traditional ways. If you can wait you will experience one of finest dessert. Crunchy on the outside but rich and creamy inside. Totally worth it.
Great walk around this area but should come around 5pm.
Excellent place ,good service ,and nice product .
Just a clock tower, nothing special

Exciting street bazaar
The name of market is "Indochina" that meaning of exchange product of loas Thai and china. This is the evidence of lose the the old style market. 10 year before, the rising of local market trend made effective for the economic of local area. But today isn't. No one walk here, very silent. This is the effects of internet and online marketing. Someone were left behind.
Work hard for Family
Great way to send an evening on the weekend walking through the market along the foreshore if you're in town
Old and no maintenance. Nothing significant.
Nakhon phanom mall has everything but only one food court is missing
Don't compare it to the similar market in Nong khai. Far smaller here.
A decent market downstairs where you can buy silk, bags clothing etc. Not much open upstairs when we were there, a small food court, 20 baht shop, a few Thai massage places, shops selling Buddha charms etc, and one shop selling herbal products.

Beautiful and peaceful temple
The temple is centrally located and easily accessible, and I seemed to be the only visitor during the time I spent there. A quiet and relaxing place, with beautiful murals to look at, both outside and inside the temple, and there was further construction work going on in the areas.
Beautiful and well maintained. Joy to see locals, tourists and monks using the temple. Lots of artwork in the main temple.
A local temple. Peaceful without crowd.
A wonderful local temple that people pay a lot of respect
Peaceful temple.
