Nature & Parks
National park known for tiered waterfalls, scenic hiking trails, nature viewing & swimming.
Slide 1 of 8
It's a well maintained tourist attraction. The national park is set up to receive a large number of people, there is plenty of parking and amenities. Access to the waterfalls is relatively easy and the climb is not too steep. Any fitness level can manage. A lot of rules around taking plastic bottles and food. Don't litter and get a swim vest if you want to jump in the pools. It's around 1 hour drive from the main town. During the off season I would recommend staying in a nice hotel in kanchanaburi and drive yourself to the national park.
🌿 Erawan National Park 📍 94GV+5HW, Tha Kradan, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi 71250, Thailand This is truly one of the most beautiful national parks in Thailand! The highlight here is the Erawan Waterfall, which has seven tiers, each one different and stunning in its own way. The first few levels are easy to reach and great for relaxing or swimming, while the upper levels take a bit more effort to hike but are absolutely worth it. There are small shops near the entrance where you can buy food, snacks, drinks, and coffee before starting your walk. You can also take a golf cart ride to the first level if you prefer not to walk the first stretch. After the second level, you’ll need to register your water bottles and leave a small deposit (refunded when you bring them back). No food is allowed beyond this point, which helps keep the waterfalls clean, something I really appreciate. If you’re visiting during a Thai public holiday, be prepared for large crowds. Otherwise, on normal days, it’s peaceful and very enjoyable. There’s also a campground if you want to stay overnight, and nearby spots like the Erawan Dam are worth checking out too. Entrance Fees (as of 2025): •Thai Adults: 100 THB | Thai Children: 50 THB •Foreign Adults: 300 THB | Foreign Children: 200 THB Overall, this park is 100% worth the trip, beautiful nature, clean water, and well-maintained trails. A must-visit if you’re in Kanchanaburi!
Erawan Waterfall is a truly beautiful place, surrounded by lush green forest and a peaceful natural atmosphere. The facilities are convenient and reasonably priced, making it easy for anyone to enjoy the trip without worry. The waterfall and the surrounding forest are well-preserved, and visitors from many countries come to experience its charm. The staff are kind, helpful, and attentive. They make sure everyone is safe, whether it’s providing life jackets or keeping an eye on the hiking areas. Food options are varied, and prices are fair with no hidden charges. There are also comfortable shuttle services to and from the town, which makes the whole trip even smoother. It’s the kind of place that leaves you with a warm feeling — the beauty, the friendly people, and the relaxing atmosphere all make you want to come back again
This national park has a ratger expensive admission (100THB for the locals and 300THB for the foreigners). Due to the popularity of this national park, getting into the park by car including the waiting time at the entrance for payment would take at least half hour. Howwver, there are plenty of parking spaces which drivers do not have to worry about. The park is huge so consider spending at least whole day. There are 7 levels of waterfalls and each of them has its own uniqueness and difficulty. Overall the exprience was not too good because there are simply too many people, but I would recommend to visit there at least once in your lifetime.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Erawan National Park is one of the best attractions in Kanchanaburi. It has seven beautiful waterfall levels, each with clear blue water where you can swim and relax. The hike to the top takes about 1.5–2 hours, and the trail is well-marked. There are food stalls, rest areas, and clean facilities near the entrance. Best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowd and enjoy the cooler weather. Highly recommended for nature and adventure lovers! 🌿💧
300 Baht for foreigners. There are 7 levels(waterfalls). It took about 90 minutes to complete (from bottom to top & back down to the bottom), with short photo stops & excluding swimming. It can get steep at some point but it's all worth it. Make sure to bring lots of water, towels, change of clothes & a little cash & good vibes!
An amazing park with lots of pools and waterfalls, with seven points having a really convenient, organized entrance that is worth the price. The hike up the mountain to waterfall 7 is both beautiful and pleasant on clear, cold days. We spent 3 hours there without anyone noticing. It was amazing, highly recommend.
Must go place.. it is amazing to be such a beautiful waterfall. Well maintained, opens at 8 AM go as early as possible as you can spend lot of time at each levels of the fall. It has 7 levels , clean torquise water level 2 and 4, 5 are personal fav.

Very beautiful and stunning waterfall. You may bring your own life jacket to play the water. Very clean and cool water 💦 there’re 7 tiers, however when u arrive there, it will be the tier 4. You may go up first to the highest then go to the lowest. You also can camping there 🥰🥰 they do provide cooking area 🥳
Absolutely amazing. 7 spectacular waterfalls. Emerald water. No crowds - we passed only 3 couples for the whole 2 hours we were there. The waterfalls are easily accessible with minimal uphills and down hills along well maintained paths and walkways. The whole experience is totally enchanting We visited the Erawan waterfalls yesterday. The waterfalls and experience was so much better here. If you only have time to visit one of these Huay Mae Khamin waterfalls should be your choice based on our experience in mid June.
Amazing camping in the National Park. Park rangers set up your ten,, the waterfall is at your feet, lovely views, toilets, showers, cute dogs, yummy restaurant with gorgeous ladies working there. Difficult to get up there as there isn’t transport, I hitchhiked and I’d recommend the same, if you start in the morning. 20 baht everyone time you use a life jacket which seemed silly, visitors centre with information and charging points, information at some waterfalls about the nature. Lots of flora and fauna to see, many cool bugs and so much untouched nature. Swimming in the waterfalls was clean and refreshing , I’d love to come back :)
Nice place, the waterfall is beautiful. There are 7 levels of waterfall. (Like 7 spots of waterfall scenery) The total route distance isn't far. Only around 2 km. in total. (From 1st spot to 7th spot)
There seem to be a debate going on, whether this waterfall is better than Erawan. It is completely different, in my opinion, you can't compare the two. While Erawan is a perfect tourist attraction, Huay Mae Khamin is a more natural sight. To me, it felt like walking around in a real life jungle's book ☺️ The area around the falls are camping places, so, to people who love the outdoors, I would recommend to spend a few days here. The facilities seemed cleaned and organized. In Aug 2025, levels 5-7 are not open to the public. The other levels are well worth to see, the footpaths are maintained and all parts are easily accessible. The height of the individual steps on the stairs are tiny, so even older people or very young kids can walk them easily. When I visited (low season, rainy season) there were no other visitors. It was fantastic to see everything without crowds. It was very peaceful to listen to the sound of the water and the rainforest around, I was in awe! The water of the falls seemed clear and refreshing. The water is a bit colder than in Erawan. You can rent life jackets on Level 2 and swim at designated areas. Time to walk around: 2 hours (normal pace), if combined with swimming you can make a half or even a whole day activity out of it. Other things to do: There are interpretive walking paths in the forest, to learn about the surroundings. I did walk a bit on one of them but I got a bit spooked by the noises of animal activity and after around 500 meters, I had to turn around and leave. Can't say how well maintained is this area of the park. The little segment I tried was okay and had some info on plants, animals and sink holes. The reason why this waterfall is not very touristic is because of its location. Most tourists, I imagine, come from Kanchanaburi. It's 102 km from there, so it is far. I drove my rented motorbike, it was a difficult and long drive, took me 2.5 hours to get here. Until you reach the Erawan waterfall, the road is easy to drive. The last 35 km from there is the difficult bit. From here, you're driving on steep hills (6-12%) with a lot of curves through the jungle. It's better to navigate with a motorcycle and smaller cars maybe. The road surface changes a few times on this segment. I will add a caution here: I have noticed breakage lines on the asphalt, a few holes, slippery bits and rough patches, so please drive carefully. The wildlife from the surrounding forest also can be unpredictable, another reason to go slowly. A monkey ran across me once, a snake, a caterpillar and several birds and butterfly. Luckily I managed to avoid collision with all of the animals. In a summary, if you are spending some days in Kanchanaburi and have your own transport and time, and you are a confident and safe driver - visit this beautiful waterfall. Entrance fee: 300 baht for foreigners (60 for Thais) plus parking fee. I think it's cash only pay (not sure)
Right now, levels 5-7 are under construction. However, levels 1-4 are still absolutely worth the visit. You can swim in many parts of the waterfall (you have to wear a life jacket). The water is an unbelievable colour. The paths within the park are well marked and paved. There is a really nice lookout spot as well! Water right by the parking cost 20 baht for a big bottle, so it’s not too jacked up! Entrance to the park is 300 baht per person, plus 30 baht for the car to park.
Beautiful waterfall with 7 tiers. Needs a little walk but worth it!
If you’re hunting for waterfalls in Kanchanaburi and you shudder at the thought of fighting a hundred tourists for a photo, stop searching! Huay Mae Khamin Waterfall is the peaceful, seven-tiered, emerald-green antidote to all your crowded travel nightmares. 😌 Yes, the drive to get here is an adventure—a beautiful, slightly winding road that feels like it’s taking you to the edge of the map—but the moment you step out of the car, you realize you've stumbled upon a hidden gem. This is where you go to meet nature, not fellow travelers. It’s glorious, unspoiled, and feels like your own private jungle escape! 🚗💨💎 The falls themselves are magnificent, a cascade of seven unique tiers, each with its own perfect swimming hole. Unlike some other famous falls, the hike here is surprisingly gentle, more of a nature stroll than a mountain climb—your knees will thank you! We spent hours blissfully wandering from tier to tier, plunging into the crystal-clear, cool water. The pools are so inviting, they look like they belong on a postcard, especially the lower tiers (1-4). This is the kind of place that cleanses your soul, washes away your stress, and makes you feel like a fully restored human being. Pure, refreshing, natural therapy! 💦🌳 Seriously, don't just plan a day trip; pack your tent and stay the night! The campsite here is top-notch, allowing you to fall asleep to the hypnotic sound of the cascading water. The park facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the whole atmosphere is total Zen. Huay Mae Khamin is a beautiful reminder that the best of Thailand often requires a little extra effort to reach, but the solitude and beauty are your immense reward. Five stars for being the ultimate crowd-free paradise! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🏕️

A steep, stepped hike leads up to this huge cavern, full of translucent stalactites & stalagmites.
Slide 1 of 8
Magnificent, overwhelmingly incredible! A completely different little world. Friendly and helpful guide - flashlights provided. (No photos do this experience justice). The stairway to to the entrance will test your patience and lungs - so worth it!
Prepare your glutes and your lungs, because visiting Tham Phra That is less of a cave tour and more of a vertical obstacle course! 😩🧗‍♂️ Legend says there are 592 steps (I lost count around step 50 and resorted to whimpering), but honestly, scaling that mountain to reach the mouth of the cave is half the adventure. You will be sweating buckets, questioning every sugary choice you made this week, and briefly considering a helicopter ride down. But fear not, the well-maintained staircase and the knowledge that something amazing awaits you are enough to drag your weary body to the top. This is the ultimate warm-up (or cool-down!) for your Kanchanaburi trip! 💪 Once you make the final, slightly claustrophobic squeeze through the entrance, the whole atmosphere changes. The cavern opens up into a massive, stadium-sized hall that feels truly enormous. It's like stepping into a cathedral built by giant subterranean artists! The limestone formations are the star of the show—shimmering, translucent stalactites that look like frozen waterfalls and giant rock pillars in various, imaginative shapes. A huge shout-out to the park ranger/guide who is mandatory (and very helpful!) because without their light, you'd be hopelessly lost in the cool, silent darkness. It truly is one of the most magnificent, otherworldly caves in Thailand. 👽✨ This cave is the perfect, slightly masochistic adventure to pair with a visit to Erawan Falls (flash that same park ticket!). Just remember to arrive before 3:00 PM and wear your best non-slip sneakers. The 30-minute tour inside is pure magic, a stunning contrast to the green jungle outside. Yes, your legs will be screaming obscenities at you for 48 hours, but the memory of seeing this huge, shimmering geological wonder will totally win that battle. Highly recommend for adventurers who love a challenge! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🔦
Worth visit for a foreigner in my opinion. The road to cave is not hard to walk and not far from the parking. You can ask for a tour guide if you need, it is dark inside, u can ask the tour guide who standby outside the cave for touch light. If you need a tour guide, you have to know Thai language. If you got plan to go Erawan waterfall, you can go Erawan Waterfall then pay a visit to this cave, the ticket of Erawan National Park for 300 Baht can be use for these 2 location within the same day.
This cave is really cool but much different than most caves in Thailand. The first difference is the ranger won’t give you a light so it’s hard to see in the cave. The second difference is the cave has a walkway the entire way so it is easier to walk. LOTS OF SNAKES IN THIS CAVE. the walkway to the cave says 600 meters but the ranger said that is just the elevation the real distance is 1.5 kilometers. The path is also getting very overgrown and forgotten. Overall it’s very cool!
A beautiful cave with limestone formations. It was a moderate climb for us. 600 m of steps. The caves are well maintained. The ticket used for Erawan waterfalls was also valid for a visit to the cave. There is a ranger guide at the cave entrance that takes you in. We took about 3 hrs for the full trip
Beautiful cave. It's a long walk (stairs) up but worth it. There are a few benches on the way so you can take a break. There is a ranger / guide station just at the entrance of the cave once you reach the top. From there you will be accompanied by them and given a tour inside. It took us approximately 20 mins to do the tour inside the cave and back out. the entrance to the cave is a very narrow gap in the rock, it's quite a squeeze especially if you have a backpack. The rest of it is a safe and comfortable walk on an elevated platform. You'll see a lot of naturally made shapes and sculptures in the rock and limestone. The Ranger / guide will help you identify them.
Caves are mysterious well designed by the nature Just don’t think to go inside without the guide You don’t need any other workout the day you decide to visit the cave The entrance is so narrow and maybe scary, but there is big open area inside You still need your one day national Park pass ticket to the area
Long walk from entrance till the crave but very nice. Many steps, you should be fit to walk through. Cave is very nice - there is staff to show you the inside of the cave. Can see a lot of bats if you look to up. For me a must see..

Really good places for adventure. There are 2 caves, small one and a very big one. You have to climb up many steps high. Recommend to prepare your health ready for this.
This is one of my most impressive places in Kanchanaburi provice, Thailand. You need to pass a small cave that has plenty of bats but inside the cave is very beautiful. (You can wear mask to prevent the bat poop smell) Then, you will meet a forest that is very well preserved. There are many types of mushroom and small animals. After walking about 1.3 Km., you will see a 1st level waterfall, Tri trueng, that is very nice too. After that, walking up to the 2nd and 3rd level waterfall. The way to go up is a bit difficult with high steep but the path is good and stable. And during the way to the scenaric viewpoint is quite difficult and a bit dangerous but it's not hard for those who have hiking experience. I do not recommend people who have heart atttack or mussle pain to continue walking because the path's quite steep and not that stable. Also, the viewpoint is nice. And then, continue walking to 300 meters to the last cave. The park closed at 4 pm. And the tourists are not allowed to enter the park after 3 pm. That means you can stay in the forest until 3 pm., then you have to walk back and leave the park before 4 pm. For hiking here, I recommend wearing hiking shoes and pants. The bug spary is also useful.
While this park wasn't originally on my 12-day Kanchanaburi itinerary, I'm glad we had an extra night to visit. The experience was well worth it, thanks in large part to the kindness of the staff. Mr. Ton, one of the park officers, was especially helpful and spoke excellent Mandarin. He was able to get us special permission to take shelter in the main hall for the night due to heavy rain and safety concerns. The park is known for its impressive caves, which are a definite highlight. The area around the caves is filled with large linestone and fresh, cool air. The main path is well-lit, but be prepared to crouch down in some parts. It's a short journey—you leave your car at the park headquarters and walk about 300 meters, then another 30 meters to the end of the main cave. For those who want to hike further, there are additional trails, though some are damaged and impassable. The trail ultimately leads to a larger cave, which you can also reach by driving about 30 kilometers. As for camping, the grounds are not as spacious as other national parks, and while there are platforms, they are far from the washrooms and didn't seem intended for camping. On the morning of my visit, I experienced a water supply cut, similar to a previous stay at Phu Teoi, but the kind park staff allowed me to use a washroom in one of the chalets to clean up, which was very considerate. There is a food store, but the selection is limited. Overall, this park is a great choice if you're interested in exploring caves.
Very pretty national park with really huge trees and a beautiful cave. It is just a little out of the way and some might consider it hard to get to. I would say it's best to visit during weekdays as the trail itself is quite small and can get very crowded quickly.
Easy walk. Nice view. Cave, jungle, and waterfall in about an hour with a decent climb to the last highlight. A healthy guy can easily do it.
Great park! Very cool caves with plenty of bats. Pretty waterfalls. Butterflies are abundant. Heard lots of birds, but didn't see many. Very well maintained with clean and tidy restrooms. Prepare to do ALOT of walking/hiking, as vehicles must be left at the car park near the entrance.
Nice national park. The first cave is ok, the trek that's following is even more impressive. Djungle forest following the river up the hill. Bring good shoes. You have to pass many rocks and stairs that have seen better days, but acceptable. At the top of the hill, you will find the main big cave, which is actually not an enclosed cave like the first one but more a ginant dome. I recommend to book a transfer to the lodges back before, because otherwise you have to walk all the way back on your own. Not crowded, I've seen less then 20 people during the whole day.
True beauty of nature! Stunning exotic place! Highly recommended for mountain/forest person!
