Parking is iffy. If you’re quick you can get away with parking at the gas station across the way. Simple but quick activity to do with the kids. Fun to see how little they are in comparison to the monstrosity that is Paul Bunyan!
If you are doing a drive-by, you have the Entertainment so there's no traffic coming. It might be easier to park somewhere to take a picture. We got lucky as it wasn't real busy.
This was a lot larger than I imagined and I really liked it. The statue was in really good condition and the info boards surrounding it are well worth reading as the whole story about the man and the statue is interesting and fun. Well worth a visit if you're nearby and it is only a short walk from the waterfront so the two combined can use up a few hours.
Very nice detail on the statue and very informative information on the posts around the statue. The landscaping was a bit unkept, but overall a nice visit.
This is one of the iconic things to do in Bangor, and so we were happy to stop by. We weren’t exactly sure where to park because it is located near a busy street, but once we did, we enjoyed taking pictures of Paul and reading the plaques about the statue.
Paul Bunyan in all his glory with all his tales.. Very cool status with great accompanying stories.
It’s real big and you learn some interesting facts/lore from plaques at the site.
Who doesn't love a cool Paul Bunyan statue?

Cole Land Transportation Museum – A Must-See Stop in Bangor! During a trip to Bangor earlier in 2025, I stopped at the Cole Land Transportation Museum—and it ended up being one of the best parts of the visit. I was welcomed right away by two fellow veterans volunteering at the front, and that connection alone made the experience more meaningful. I also received a handcrafted Maine maple walking stick—a thoughtful gift the museum gives to veterans as a way to honor their service and offer something lasting to take home. Inside, the museum holds an impressive collection of land transportation history—antique snowplows, fire trucks, tractors, military vehicles, and more. From restored Model Ts to equipment used in Maine’s logging and farming industries, everything is well displayed with clear signage and wide walkways to explore at your own pace. I also learned more about the museum’s background. It was founded by Galen Cole, a WWII veteran and trucking company owner, who wanted to preserve local transportation history while also honoring veterans and educating future generations. That mission really comes through as you walk through the exhibits—it’s more than just old equipment. The volunteers shared how committed the museum is to veteran outreach and education. They mentioned how the museum hosts school groups, military reunions, and community events that promote patriotism and civic responsibility. Outside, there’s a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter and an M60 tank surrounded by plaques and flags in a memorial area that’s both quiet and powerful. Admission was very reasonable, and the visit was absolutely worth it. Whether you’re into history, vehicles, or just looking for something different in the Bangor area, I highly recommend stopping here. I’d go back without hesitation.
Loved this museum. It was amazing to see all the parts of history. Thank you so much for all the time and collections you have put together for our enjoyment!!
This place is amazing has actual big rig trucks an old train that u can walk all through among many other amazing things. Price to enter isn’t bad either. Kids under a certain age get in for free.
Small and mighty! Spent an hour and half looking at so much history that is mainly acquired and restored from local sources! Bonus scavenger hunts for all ages if you're into that. Well displayed and maintained.
This is an awsome little museum, with lots of stuff packed into the building. We stopped in while exploring the area and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and eager to answer questions. The layout is great and easy to wonder around in
Excellent exhibit. Our guide Jim was a added bonus. Great job glad we stopped
This was an impromptu stop rather early in the morning, so I didn't visit the museum, but just getting to visit the outside things was worth the detour.
Amazing! I went for an event for my grandchildren and truly enjoyed every minute. It is so fascinating and I am not interested in vehicles at all. Just not my thing. The children had so much fun with the event and the scavenger hunt throughout the museum. They looked at everything there trying to find the pieces on the scavenger hunt pictures. The museum is AMAZING and I can't wait to go back.

We had a fantastic experience from start to finish! The staff was incredibly attentive, polite, and fast. From the friendly Jack at the front desk, to the welcoming and efficient waitstaff in the restaurant, and the upbeat bartenders in the casino every interaction was top-notch. We had the quesadillas and they were absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The drinks were great too, and the whole dining experience was one of the many a highlights of our stay. The music throughout the evening was upbeat and full of energy we loved it! It really added to the fun and lively atmosphere. We also spent some time in the casino and had a blast playing roulette with Tyson he was friendly, fun, and made the game even more enjoyable. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It’s clear the whole team takes pride in making guests feel welcome and taken care of. We truly enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended!
Great location (we were just passing through on a road trip), casino floor is very very small, but I had no problem finding a spot to sit. Casino hotel and floor is very nice and clean. Hotel room was clean, the bedding and pillows were so comfy! Parking in garage was easy. There is 1 restaurant and 1 cafe on the casino floor. Front desk staff were all friendly.
Our room wasn’t as clean as it should have been, there was dust everywhere, and we had to call for another blanket because the one in our room had a yellow, crusty stain on it. On a positive note, we really enjoyed the service at Hops House 99, the staff was great, and the food was awesome. We were also told that if we billed our meal to the room, we’d get a $5 credit, which we did. After dinner, we stopped by the small store near check-in to grab some water and snacks. After browsing for several minutes, the woman at the front desk informed us that their system was down and she couldn’t sell us anything. We asked if she could bill it to our room once the system was back up, but she said no. Not a huge deal, we figured we’d just use the two 10 oz complimentary waters in the room. However, upon checkout, I noticed a $10 “amenity charge” on our bill. When I asked about it, I was told it covered the two bottles of water, the $5 dining credit, and “other things.” That honestly felt ridiculous, if I’m paying for it, don’t call it an amenity. All in all, we still had a decent time. It was nice to gamble a little, enjoy some good food, and relax afterward. Would I stay again? Maybe, but only if the price wasn’t over $200 a night, the room was worth $100 tops.
Needed a last minute place to stay as we were passing through Bangor. Rooms were large and clean. Casino was nice but on the small side. We never had a server come by when we were gambling so I couldn't tell you if the drinks are complimentary or if you need to pay when gambling. Food options at the hotel/casino are limited. We ate at the 99, which I would consider bar'ish type food. Nice enough place would probably stay here again if in the area.
Had a great time here! The slot selection is really solid, lots of new machines along with the classics, so there’s something for everyone. The craps table has a fun, lively vibe with friendly dealers who keep the game moving. Drinks came fast, and the cocktail servers were all super nice and attentive. Definitely one of the better spots in Bangor for a night out with some energy and good luck vibes.
Worst hotel I ever stayed at. They DO NOT SERVICE THE ROOMS. If you want clean towels you need to leave the soiled ones in the hall and hope clean ones are left in their place which we did not know until I complained on our second day. The room temp felt like 65F and the thermostat had no effect on the temp. Charged $10 fee for Amenities that included a Hotel Pantry which is a joke, all items in there are for an additional cost. We stayed for 3 days at $200+ /day and had better service, rooms, free breakfast, and better stay at a $80 Comfort Inn. Never again will I stay there.
I’m a regular and to be fair I have won and lost probably about the same ! But, the payout when I been gambling high is something to be shocked. Yesterday I was bidding on a 25 cent/ 12.50 bid and had two chances of winning kind of big …. 2 /6 free games … nothing 🥹 it just took my money. I came @ 1130 and left at about 1230 with 1000 🤣 I played the gorilla and I played 10 cent on a 7.50 bet and Won 500 but it was brutal, once I got that it slowly took it back to 200😔 everything was high and the machine was like making it hard to win the jackpots. Totally amazing. I played a lower amount on a machine and it was full ready to let go and I played 2 cents … 1.50 bet won maybe 20 dollars 🤣. Couldn’t get them to pay off . The saying for here is if you don’t leave with what you have they will take it😏 I had won $750 dollars of free slot just back about 6 months ago and they took it back 🥹 not one time did I win…. Doesn’t make sense to even try and use the free win slot 😏
Had an enjoyable 1 night stay. The curtains keep the room nice and dark. Hotel and surrounding area was easy to navigate. We were able to walk to the Amphitheater, and other near by locations. Didn't hear a peep from other guests, nice to have a quiet room.

We went to see The Rocky Horror Show and had an absolute blast! The cast was phenomenal, and we loved the prop bags to enabled us to participate. We are in awe of the talent we saw, and wish we were Maine residents so we could attend again!
Gorgeous theatre with friendly and helpful staff. The place is steeped in history and you can feel it all around. Comfortable seating. A lovely bar is adjacent serving alcohol and coffee and snacks. Regardless of what you are going to see, this is a lovely place to see it.
Yesterday I went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I have to say it was the best production of it I've ever seen! All the actors did an amazing job, but Ira Kramer brought the character Riff Raff to a whole new level! I was however disappointed in the audience though, it was mostly "virgins" and very few people were dressed properly for the occasion! Hahaha!
I’ve been to two shows now at the Penobscot Theatre Company and both times I’ve been blown away by the talent, stage crew, directing choices, and script. The stage is beautiful, the actors are phenomenal, it is such a fantastic spot in Bangor to go if you have the chance. So far, I’ve seen A Christmas Carol and Dirty Deeds Down East and loved both! Great work to the cast and crew.
My husband and I are avid Rocky Horror fans. Starting in 1978 8th St NYC. We just saw Rocky Horror live last night at the Penobscot Theatre and it was fabulous!! I felt like I was at a broadway show! Such a professional performance. Bravo PTC!!!!!
Been to a few different musicals in 3 years. Enjoyed them all but the version of Dickens Christmas Carol in 2023 was awful. Friendly staff and fantastic local actors.
Went to 2 performances of Steel Magnolias. Fantastic acting, wonderful sets, great acoustics, lovely theater.
The Penobscot Theatre is a treasure for Bangor. While the Theatre remains physically closed during Covid, it is alive in spirit. The theatre is located in the old opera house and offers a variety of plays during the year. It is in the downtown part of Bangor. During the temporary closure you can find the theatre online. It is worth a visit if you support culture.

Immaculately kept, huge amount of history. Such a peaceful place to visit. Being keen horror watchers, the Stephen King aspect was also of interest to us. This was not frowned upon at all by the staff. They even supplied us with a map pointing to the points of interest on the subject. If you are near here, it is a great place to take some time out and learn a lot.
Beautiful cemetery. Well keep. Nice place to drive through and stop for a little tour.
This is a must see destination for any fan of Stephen King! The cemetery is well maintained, large and very beautiful. The groundskeepers were friendly and not at all phased by a couple of movie/literature nerds roaming the grounds! Just make sure you are being respectful! The hunt for the famous markers that lead to inspiration for the novels “Carrie” and “It” were fun to explore the grounds for! Seeking spots where parts of Pet Sematary were filmed was even more fun! We paid our due respects to the residents and left with some neat photos. Highly recommend this stop for fans! Please, please, just be mindful and respectful.
An insane amount of history here. If you love walking around cemeteries, just know that this one is huge. I was there a couple hours on a hot day and only scratched the surface before my water was gone. It is clearly cared for, albeit dry like the rest of the area. I stayed in what I believe are the oldest sections. Some of the headstones are like works of art. So many stories here dating back well over 100 years.
We searched for a lovely, scenic, quiet and historic special spot for our child to rest in peace. We discovered Mt Hope. We decided upon the Scattering Garden Memorial area. Emily and Steve, superintendents, made us welcome in the lodge with an appointment. We were able to pick a garden spot, were assisted with placing our cremains and the Bronze plaque on Memorial Wall is well done. The option was perfect for our family; dignified special, lovely and affordable. Thank you Mt Hope, Emily and Steve. Mt Hope, a historic American garden cemetary is also a peaceful spot to walk or jog on a summer evening with many paths and hills.
Really a beautiful cemetery in its own right - the older section has beautiful monuments and hills and stairs - definitely much more interesting than your average cemetery. If you're a Stephen King fan, you can see where he took some of his names from grave stones, and even places where they shot some of the adaptations that King was in. It's confusing to drive around, but just keep going and you'll find interesting stuff. It'd be a great place to walk if you live here. (Make sure to book sktours for an explanation of the King tie-ins.)
I am not one to venture to cemeteries for fun, but this one was an exception and I am glad I went. This is a very beautiful cemetery and on a pleasant fall day it was very relaxing in the middle of the pandemic. There are some fascinating headstones combined with the tie to the King novel, it just all came together.
The gates that I went to were closed on weekends. This is the gates next to the Koren War memoral and civel war memoral.. this cemetery is the second oldest in the United States after the one in Boston, Ma that it was patterned after. It's called that because of the landscaping with ponds, shrubs and spacing of the graves.

We did a tour with SK Tours, I HIGHLY reccomend it! Lots of cool info on Stephen King's Bangor house. Worth the visit, cool & spooky touches in the grounds.
Loved visiting Bangor, ME. Wished I would have got my Steven King tour tickets in advance. Sad because there are lots of homeless.
My beautiful wife Mrs Jorgensen and I (Mr Jorgensen), enjoyed the view of the outside. The tours hadn't started yet that day so I took photos of the outside. We both were there on our honeymoon/vacation in Honeymoonville Maine in September of 2025
I grew up reading Stephen King and immersing myself in the world of Derry and others. To visit this area was a joy and much to my delight, exactly how I expected it. I visited this area with SK tours, who I highly recommend, and seeing the Kings old home was a treat. It's a beautiful building in a stunning area regardless, but knowing what was created in there made the tummy tingle. As I say, it's worth having a look around the surrounding area as some of the buildings are breathtaking and some house some VIPs. The statue in the old King house was made using a chainsaw and is quite something. This trip was full flavour Bangor, the people of which are some of the warmest and friendliest I have met on my travels. This is a wonderful part of the world that deserves to be appreciated.
Fan boy'd a bit and visited the SK house.. Awesome architecture. Super cool to see the personal details around the property.
West Broadway Street was full of beautiful mansions. Stephen King's house had an interesting tree trunk sculpture and cool fence.
This historic district of Whitney Park is easily walkable and especially pretty during fall. The Stephen King house and the adjacent buildings have wonderful decorations during Halloween. Downtown Bangor is about 10 mins walk away
This is one of Steven kings houses. Beautiful spot there we're a few people who were there not very busy but if you are in the area you need to check it out

The Maine Discovery Museum is such a gem for families! It’s full of thoughtful, interactive rooms that invite kids to play, explore, and learn in really creative ways. Every space is designed with care, and there’s so much variety that children of all ages can find something to enjoy. I especially loved the Goodnight Moon-themed room, such a sweet and cozy space that brought the classic book to life. It’s clear the museum puts a lot of heart into making it a magical experience. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!
It was a wonderful experience! Although we discovered that our son was just a bit too short for some of the play areas, we made the most of it, and he had an amazing time. I highly recommend visiting during the fall or winter when the weather is cooler. WE will definitely go again when he a little bigger
It was our first time here and we will definitely be back the next time we are up to visit family! We spent three hours here with our little one. Your admission is good for the entire day, until close, so you can leave and come back.
This is a wonderful place. We only allotted ourselves about an hour and a 1/2, which honestly as many floors and exhibits as they have children can't really dive deep into play. So I would recommend packing a good lunch and some snacks and preparing yourselves to be there for a few hours. So they can really explore their imaginative play.
What a fun surprise it was to stumble upon this place with an almost 4 year old. I wasn't sure what to expect but the exhibits were so fun and well thought out - my daughter did NOT want to leave. Great job to the staff that maintains and runs everything - there is something for every kid.
We love the children's museum. It has enough variety to keep children from various ages very happy! Everything is clean and tidy, and the staff is exceptional. It is a friendly, caring, and informative place to be.
Great place to take the grandkids. Enjoyed watching a very interesting discussion and showing of a snake a lizard like creature and a turtle. The kids got to touch each creature. There were three floors of hands on experiences. The center is not as big inside as it looks like from the outside. It was not real crowded which made it fun
My daughter went as part of a birthday party group. She had a lot of fun and was exhausted by the time we got home. Win win!

Cascade Park is a serene oasis right in the heart of town, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. One of its most captivating features is the stunning series of waterfalls, which provide a soothing soundtrack as you explore the park. The sound of cascading water adds to the park's tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The park is well-equipped with picnic tables, making it a great destination for a leisurely lunch or a family picnic. The tables are strategically placed to offer great views of the waterfalls and the surrounding natural beauty. The lush greenery and the sound of the falls create a peaceful environment, perfect for unwinding. Cascade Park is truly a hidden gem, offering a picturesque and peaceful retreat right in town. Whether you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy a picnic, or simply appreciate the beauty of nature, this park is a must-visit.
Lovely trails right in town. Easy parking. Didn't see if there was a bathroom. Places to picnic. I reccomend!
Not sure when things changed but the fountain and park looked like it hasn’t been maintained for a little while. It also seemed super small. Wasn’t really worth stopping at in my opinion. Picture shows what we saw in September 2025
Fountain is seasonally operated, they turn it off in October and back on in the Spring. There is an artificial stream with waterfall, a nice fountain, some benches, some big old trees, a couple of short walking trails including one loop up a hill, and a small grassy field for frisbee or whatever. Nice place to go for a quiet walk, please keep your dog on a leash and clean up after it 🐕‍🦺💩🪏🚮😎👍. The river is just across the street, but you can't actually see it from the park. Plenty of free parking on site.
Great place to visit on a hot day. If you are looking for a scenic picnic area, or just out for a small hike, this beautiful park has a working fountain that will cool you off on even the hottest of days, once the wind hits the cool water and you are sprinkled with that refreshing feeling of cool water on a hot day. Bring your friends, bring your dogs, bring your partners and yourself and set off on a tiny hike up to the top of there waterfall area, where all of the water has conjugated. Then enjoy a sit down near the fountain and enjoy the weather and maybe a bit of a picnic.
Wonderful place to stretch our legs and enjoy the peaceful cascade.
Nice walk, steep at times, the waterfall was not working at the time but the park is beautiful.
Pleasantly quiet and well kept. Found this by accident. The day we walked around it was very quiet and peaceful. A great place to relax and or take a walk or walk your pet. Picnic tables available throughout as well as a gazebo.

Even if you don't buy anything, this place is like a curiosities shop. It's fascinating! They have a lot of things from plants to taxidermy animals. It was awesome and I will definitely come back.
Awesome stone & oddities shop. A must to stop by and see if you’re visiting Bangor. Awesome taxidermy including a Jacob’s ram and an ostrich decorate the store. Beautiful hand-printed garland for sale as well.
I could live in this shop and still probably find new treasures every day. Absolutely in love with it.
The RockandArt Shop is such a vibrant place, whether you visit their Bangor, Ellsworth, or Bar Harbor locations, you’ll find a beautifully curated mix of local art, plants, unique gifts, and curiosities. The Bangor location is especially fun during the First Friday Art Walks, where they always showcase a fantastic range of collective work. It’s clear they’re deeply committed to supporting local artists and building community around creativity. The current show by Randi Watson is especially worth a visit. Her art is thoughtful, surrealist, and full of layered emotion.
I loved this play for my first years of college however they took a turn. I was happy shopping here thinking all their taxidermy is ethical however it is not. For my most recent visits, I realized they were selling bat taxidermy which is highly unethical in itself. It is almost impossible to get ethical bat taxidermy. Then on my last visit I saw this, a Painted Woolly Bat which is on the IUCN list as near threatened and typically cannot be obtained or sold due to this. And the fact that the patagium is fully intact (the fleshy parts of the wings) means that it was not found dead, it would have needed to be killed to be made into this taxidermy. The patagium deteriorates rapidly after death because of how delicate it is. I’m very disappointed that I have made purchases here before. I wonder what other ethical taxidermy they are lying about.
Amazing store, friendly owners/sales clerks! Very helpful and knowledgeable! Very enjoyable experience. Not a boutique you just pop in to... you must take the time to stroll around as there is so much to see! Absolutely Loved it ... recommend 💯!
This place is perfect for find cool, unique gifts such as books, jewelry, plants, artwork and more. I look forward to visiting again!
Coolest place to shop! The gemstones and fossils are well priced, and they have the cutest wildlife-themed notebooks + prints + stickers + decor. I got a megalodon tooth for just $10 🦈 & it’s fun to just walk around and take in all the plants, bones, and oddities.

Tranquil mall housing a department store, familiar retail chains & several quick-service eateries.
Slide 1 of 8
This mall has three galleries or wings. There are a lot of vacant store fronts, but one wing of the mall is more deserted than the other two. JC Penney, Dick's Sporting Goods, and a furniture/mattress store are the anchor stores. A few mall staples are surviving here: Spencer's, Bath & Body Works, Claire's, Hot Topic. There are some local businesses as well and, interestingly, a couple of local theater groups occupy space here. There are no restaurants in the mall, but there are some nearby. Unfortunately, the campus isn't pedestrian friendly, the pavements are in bad shape, and you can't easily walk from the mall to any of the nearby businesses. The exterior of the mall could use some maintenance. It doesn't appear well kept, unfortunately, and that must make it difficult to attract new businesses.
Dying mall that should be put out of it’s misery. 70% vacant, unmaintained interior and parking lot in shambles. If they cared theyd consolodate the remaining stores into 1 wing and close the remaining 2 wings. At least it would be a solid set up that way. Instead you have long stretches that look post apocalyptic. The place doesnt even have music playing over the PA system. Ceiling tiles missing and stained, leaking roof. Thanks a lot Amazon. What a waste. What tenant would ever rationalize renting space in this crap hole? Place is a dump. I feel bad for the people who have to go to work here. How discouraging. And only 1 public bathroom area that is bombed out & filthy. I cant believe teens havent broken into the place at night and torched it yet. This place is that bad.
The pictures I took don’t do it justice how bad it is. I went in the entrance by the old Ruby Tuesdays and there were rats or mice jumping on the entrance and in the grass. Looks like someone hasn’t cleaned the floors in weeks if not longer. There was virtually no landscaping or any attempt to make it look better. The men’s bathroom was completely obliterated and only one functioning urinal with graffiti all over the place. The owners and the city of Bangor should be ashamed. I don’t think it’s even worth saving at this point. Someone posted in another review that it’s “dying”. It’s already dead. Bulldoze it.
This used to be a great place. The few stores that are left are good. It's amazing they stay in business. Most don't even know any are still open in the mall, since the owners take such horrible care of the road and parking lots. I would love to see something good happen here to see it come back to life.
I used to live in Bangor 25 years ago, and the mall has definitely gone downhill from back then. Very few stores now, maybe one in four shops is occupied, and ones that were occupied, alot of them were closed when we visited. Guess there are some lawsuits going on about the upkeep of the mall, but there's not much there anymore. Don't waste your time!
This place is a great walking facility for those that want a very dark indoor experience if the weather outside is bad out or it's the winter season other than that it's a dead mall. Yeah there is dicks sporting department but other then that as well as American eagle and a few random local stores it's not even worth your time to browse like way back in 2000 when they finally reopened their expansion to include such things as Victoria secret, Macy's, an eye clinic and a few eatery's but they have long since closed their doors and either completely left Bangor or moved to the Stillwater Ave shipping center. They really need to do something with the lighting that detracts from the semiannual craft fair which makes the mall come to life. So many vendors that sell their wares at reasonable prices. The parking lot as well as the drive around the mall is so bad that I even got a flat tire from driving there. You must keep a keen eye out for massive potholes that they just don't fix until it's the size of a 3' wide! So I hope in the future v they revitalize these stores because the reason why they closed shop was initially due to online shipping but now I hear that you need to pay for the problems that the owners of the building should pay to fix. Overall a great indoor walking facility, terrible lighting, and poor roads leads this place to be condemned. I mean just look at their inviting sign for Simon's Bangor mall on the corner of Hogan and Bangor mall Blvd. At least try to make it respectable but nope. It would get zero stars if they stopped people from walking the dark empty halls.
Disgusting... run down, moldy, roof leaks everywhere, 90% of stores closed or empty. 2 of 10 washrooms were in service and those didn’t lock. Suspect a lot of drug use on the property. Religious cards left on all washroom surfaces. Bad post apocalyptic vibe overall - will never go back.
Severely deteriorating largely abandoned mall with a parking lot that looks like it was cluster bombed because of the severe potholes. Currently improving as little as humanly possible in response to being literally sued by the town for lack of maintenance. Dick's just outside the mall is ok but the mall is generally terrible.

Did the haunted ghost walked and absolutely loved it! Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and fun to listen too! He also had a great sense of humor when random people drove by and yelled out the window. Great activity for local and tourist alike! I learned a lot about Bangor that i never knew before.
I went for the Mt. Hope Cemetery tour this morning. It was a great way to learn about Bangor history and Ryan was incredibly knowledgable. And of course the cemetery Itself is such a pleasant place to walk. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you to the Bangor Historical Society and volunteers.
I had an incredibly lovely time on the historical ghost tour this evening. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and he was a wonderful story teller. It was nice to learn about some major historical events in Bangor, and a handful of ones I had never heard about!
We had a lovely time visiting for the winter decorations. This years theme was the Nutcracker and the rooms were all well done. It was only $5 and you have access to the first floor which includes 4 rooms, hallway, and small gift shop/museum. You can also vote for your favorite room. I believe our host was Carol(might have the wrong name!) but she was informative and polite. Some cool local history!
My wife and I had a few hours in Bangor and wandered into the Bangor Historical Society on a whim. We got an amazing tour from a a volunteer, learned a lot and had a great time. There is a lot to see there - check it out. I planned to steal a 300 lb cannon on display but was foiled. I’ll be back for it later.

We had friends from out of state visit and did Mount hope walking tour. We were greeted by a mom and child. After we all paid and all the others arrived that were touring as well, we were informed that this child who had just finished six grade was guiding the tour because the mom said she was better at it. The child acted like a child throughout the fiasco tour reading from a paper, constantly tripping over all the words, saying she wasn't even going to try and say a lot of them, showing her mom the paper and her mom telling her how to say the words. She was leaning/sitting on the graves, we all could hardly make out most of what she was reading. It was the worst money ever spent. I work at a business where people are asking me daily what there is to do in this area and I had been recommending this all year because I walk there and love it. I even printed out the ad and it's hanging where all could see it. We never even was shone the memorial that was in the picture. Or any memorials there. Was told it was 90 minutes but lasted under an hour. It was agonizing to tough this out and we all couldn't wait for it to end. I would like a full refund and won't refer this anymore to anyone. UPDATE: THE GENTLEMAN THAT USUALLY GIVES THE TOUR SAID HE WAS UNABLE TO DO THE TOUR SO HAD THE ABOVE DO IT IN A PINCH. HE OFFERED TO REFUND US AS WELL AND GIVE US HIS TOUR. I'VE HEARD FROM OTHER THAT HE IS GREAT AS A YOUR GUIDE! THANK YOU
We did a mount hope tour Thursday August 24th and it was a training session for a sixth grade girl leading the tour with her mother in the background. If I could give a zero rating I would. We brought guests with us from our of state and paid the mother because she said she was the tour guide. Then after we all paid we started late and finished early, hardly saw anything and the daughter was attempting to read a print out. Unable to pronounce a lot of it. It was a huge rip off and we'd like our money back! We didn't pay for a bring your daughter to work day training session for a sixth grader.

It’s like a secret neighborhood brewpub. This place makes amazing food and great desserts. Many times there are awesome vegan dishes and all the beers they’ve made are some of the best in the state of Maine or anywhere. I always have a wonderful time coming here and can’t wait to come here again. All the people that work here are so pleasant to talk to and I know you’ll have a great experience as well! I came here again and the food is so amazing. You definitely have to try whatever desserts they have available! I am never disappointed when I came here.
What a lovely local gem! Food is inventive and DELICIOUS! Atmosphere is unique and intimate. Butter chicken is THE BEST!! Owner is so sweet and her dedication is clearly overflowing.
Smaller spot that is very...eccentric? Like a storage attic with an IT Derry flair. Beers were decent. Didn't try any food. It's definitely someone's jam.. but was just ok, for me.
Had desert, huge slice of a chocolate peanut butter caramel cake, fantastic, very heavy and dense, delicious. Beer on tap is limited to 3 in house brews and 3 guest taps from local Maine breweries. Beer was good.
Cool little spot with good beers, friendly staff, and a few vegan options. The Thai peanut noodles were really good.
Great place! Delicious frozen blackberry wine slushy. Chocolate cake with caramel topping was to die for! Paired very well with Intergalactic Beastie Brew. Wonderful surprise when visiting on Sunday afternoon they do live music....was fun to sing along!
It's a nice and cozy place with curious vibes, good food and interesting selection of drinks: not only local craft beer and cider, but local wines, fruit wines, meads... Friendly service, caring staff, good food, good vibes.
Wine and food were absolutely delicious and the prices were out of this world. Food for 2, wine flight, and another drink and glass to take home for under $80! Huge selection owned and run by just a few people, who are very sweet and obviously put their heart and soul into this place. We were just on vacation and I’d HIGHLY recommend, the vibes were immaculate ☺️

Several picnic areas, but the downtown portion doesn't have a designated parking area. Trail is rough in several areas and the trash can be significant, but the views are worthwhile for a city trail.
Do Not Walk Your Dog Here there are needles everywhere. The trail itself is beautiful. Unfortunately it is not maintained by the city despite being so close. Garbage and needles are scattered throughout the trail making it incredibly unsafe and turns a relaxing walk into a grim reminder of Bangor's general drug and homelessness issue.
This trail is a disgrace to the city of Bangor. Two steps in and all I can see is discarded hypodermic needles and trash. Evidence of rampant drug use with no consequences. If you want to catch hepatitis or HIV by stepping on discarded needles come to this “trail”. It’s a hazard to public health and the city of Bangor should step up and clean this mess.
It’s beautiful but it’s also sad I seen homeless people and drug paraphernalia on the actual trail 👀.
Very beautiful nature with some cute wildlife. Unfortunately there’s a ton of trash, needles, and people actively using. Saw a used needle next to a duck. There was a makeshift burn pit next to a memorial. The bridge also had several large gaps between the boards, easily could seriously injure a small child or dog. I wish I could say I enjoyed but walked away after seeing a large group of people using after we crossed the bridge and decided to go home. The city really should maintain this area better.
Disgusting. Residential Garbage and litter everywhere. Homeless and vagrants have encamped the entire trail. Needles and medical waste on the ground. Gross. Bangor City Hall, at the start of the trail and sharing the same parking lot, should be ashamed.
I love walking the stream path but the city needs to do a better job of keeping it clean. I can only pick up so much trash on my own :(
Beautiful walk across a bridge, however the borads are a little loose, and the homeless everywhere makes it an uncomfortable walk especially when you can feel them watching and here them talking about you.
