uShaka is always a lovely place to visit when coming to Durban. I hadn’t been here since before Covid and was worried when I saw all the negative reviews, however it’s not bad at all. There are staff everywhere to assist, the spaces are kept clean, and the shows, aquarium and slides are all very enjoyable. We were here during off peak season so it was not busy at all. The parking has attendants on the inside and you have to pay at the gate too. The payment at the gate was R21 for about 6 hours, which isn’t too bad. I recommend having some cash as well. It’s important to check the website before planning your trip so you know when is the best time to visit based on what’s available.

uShaka is a beautiful big place to do alot of things, inreally think they did an outstanding job with the layout. The only thing I'd recommend is to improve on the seal show, it's was a little bit of a waist of time, they only have a short briefing then select soemone from the audience to meet a seal, and that's it show is over, I feel they can do a little more than a 5mint show, for me it was a waist the kids could hardly enjoy, the dolphin show was so amazing, got to give it tobthe staff that handles the dolphin show now that definitely worth to see, some areas where closed, and some restaurants are closed, so it's a little bit sad, I'd prefer to go early morning, as midday is extremely busy if you not someone for large groups of people. To view the marine life. They definitely are doing a great job and that you have an opportunity to meet the dolphins personally, but you would need to book ahead of time with them to personally have an experience with the dolphins. But the show you don't need booking.

uShaka Marine World is an incredible place to visit! The aquarium is one of the best I’ve seen, with an amazing variety of marine life and beautifully designed exhibits. The water park adds even more fun, especially for families with children. The atmosphere is vibrant and safe, with plenty of food and entertainment options around. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, especially during weekends and holidays, as it gets very busy. A must-see attraction in Durban!

Best place to visit around Durban. There are Marine Aquarium, Dolphin and seal shows, Dangerous creature show, water adventures, rope adventure and water parks. Everything totally worth. You can also take seperate tickets for each events, but it's better to take combo tickets. Go for water park if u gonna spend the whole day there. Ticket prices are also not high, but affordable. We really enjoyed it

I've been wanting to go there for ages. I was not disappointed. The staff are really working hard to make it an amazing experience. The exhibits are well maintained. There are lots of shops and more than enough to eat and drink. I will certainly go back and can definitely recommend it.

What a great experience at uShaka Marine World! We wandered through the aquarium and honestly lost track of time—quiet walkways, huge viewing windows, and that lovely hush when a turtle glides past. Even the “non-fish people” in our group ended up pointing things out and taking way too many photos. Outside had a fun, holiday feel. We grabbed an easy lunch, drifted between shops, and caught a dolphin show without planning to—perfect little break for our feet. Salty air, friendly staff, and plenty of shady spots made it an effortless day out. We left sun-tired, smiling, and already talking about coming back.

We took the SkyCar up the arch just before sunset and the view over Durban stopped us in our tracks, ocean on one side, city stretching on the other. We took a few photos, then just leaned on the rail and watched the light slide across the roof. Even on a breezy evening it felt calm up there, like the city noise was on mute. Back at ground level we wandered the plaza, grabbed something to drink, and sat people-watching while the lights came on around the stadium. It’s one of those places that makes a simple hour feel like an occasion, easy, memorable, and worth the detour.

We went up in the SkyCar for a proper postcard view of Durban’s coastline, then lingered on the arch just to watch the city breathe. It’s clean, well-run, and surprisingly calming up there. If you’ve got nerves, the Big Swing is a rush; if not, the café and plaza still make it worth the stop. Sunset light on the arch is magic, photos do half the work for you.

Great place to visit. Great views and good architecture you won't regret it. I love the fact that it's easily accessible, spacious and clean too. Lots of parking space and a great environment. We've watched countless soccer matches and the atmosphere's always good and you get to meet different people.

Back at ground level we lingered on the plaza, grabbed something cold to drink, and watched people cycle past. It’s easy to pair with a walk toward the beachfront, so the outing turns into a simple, happy couple of hours.

It was fun being there but the stalls/shops on the food/snack court it was too full and stuff was slow. Increase the staff next time

We slipped off for an hour between family visits and the city noise just melted, cool shade, giant trees, and easy paths you can wander without thinking. We found the lake, watched moorhens fussing around the lilies, and took a few photos before putting the phones away. It felt like a small breather in the middle of a busy family weekend. We grabbed cold drinks, sat under a big fig, and chatted about nothing important while the kids rolled down the lawn. Couples strolled past, a wedding shoot drifted by the orchids, and the whole place just moved at a gentler pace. Simple, calm, and exactly the reset we needed before heading back to the cousins.

Botanic Garden is beautiful, peace and quiet. I went on Saturday it was full yet so spacious as there was a wedding ceremony in the hall. People who were visiting the garden were able to access it. I would really recommend it 👌 if you want to relax, enjoy the view and nature.

We’ve had a visiting this place with my bestie and boyfriend! It’s totally free for everyone, and if you’re feeling generous, you can always donate a little something. Plus, there’s a great coffee spot and some books for super cheap. And don’t forget the cute little shop with all sorts of nice stuff and souvenirs!

The gardens are well maintained with clean facilities and ample benches. There’s often live music or events on weekends. Entry is free, though donations are welcome.

Fantastic place where to stay even for the whole day. It could look at the first moment as a bit overcrowded but that's the magic of this place. People here are just sharing their joy and funny time. A lot of options were to grab some snacks or some different beach food such as ice cream or soft drinks. There is also plenty of restaurants or coffee shops so here is everything for the while day. Even free public showers🚀

Amazing place to chill at, there's plenty of stuff to keep a person entertained. I've had a wonderful experience at the Cinecenter and Ocean Basket. It wasn't too crowded and security seemed alert.

Wonderful choice for my business trip. Rooms are sparkling clean and serviced daily. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning is fresh and the choices numerous. I will urge anyone traveling for business or holiday to stay here, it is beautiful, right on the beach and very central.

It was my first time at Suncoast. I stayed for 2 nights in a standard room. Check in was seamless, front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. My room was sea facing, and cozy. Access to the beach was easy, with the casino side having a lot of restaurants. Wifi good, plenty parking areas. Breakfast had a variety of options. Value for money Ask for room on the upper floor to take advantage of the ocean views.

Our kids fav spot... Good food and entertainment.. Entertainment:- Casino For kids:- The fun company & The water sprinklers at the open area- this one is free so anyone can access it. Plenty of food places to choose from from fast food to sit in restaurants some are :- thava restaurant, nandos, rocomamas, kfc, fishaways, steers, debonairs, Ocean basket, Spur, John dory's, Calistos Maltos, Tiger tiger and quite a few more. This is our go to place coz it's so family friendly...it really has something for the whole family. This place is exceptionally neat and beautifully maintained, with friendly staff who are always smiling and eager to assist - whether you’re unsure of what you’re looking for or just need guidance. They truly deserve recognition or a bonus for their outstanding service. I had an amazing experience visiting with my family, and they keep asking when we’ll be going back.

My experience staying here is not bad. Hope they can have a better choice for breakfast. One more thing, 1 small bottle of water a day is not enough. It is not a big deal but for a such nice hotel, they should improve that. Anyway, good place to stay.

0/5 – Complete waste of time The 1000 Hills Information Centre is a total ghost town. Not a single person was there to assist. It felt abandoned, like no one had been around for ages. Definitely not what you’d expect from an “information” centre — absolutely nothing useful or welcoming about it. Don’t bother stopping here.

We rolled the windows down and took it slow, pulling over whenever a viewpoint popped up. It’s layer after layer of hills, the kind that make your phone photos look flat no matter how many you take. We just leaned on the railing, passed the chips around, and watched the light slide across the valleys. There’s a laid-back, small-town feel, kids waving, a few roadside stalls, a whiff of braai smoke now and then. We grabbed cold drinks, sat for a bit, and didn’t feel any need to rush. Simple drive, big views, mood reset.

The gentleman was very helpful and provided useful information. We had great time in the area! The kids loved the crocks and the cultural performance was nice.

Serene and inspiring photography location. The staff were knowledgable and friendly. Take in the zulu dancers shows or just stroll the hills.

By far the best fun I've had in many years. The park awoken my inner child. It was clean, neat and extremely friendly staff. Food is a tad pricey however taste is worth it. We went on every slide and it was extremely fun!

Despite checking online before we drove over an hour, we got to the aquarium and a sign outside says "water park closed Mondays & Tuesdays". Not an apology or grain of sympathy from the staff. And why can this not be online?! Disgusted.

We had a great time today at Wet n Wild. Clean and lots of lifeguards. I would advise people to buy tickets ahead of time or, to get there early on weekends. When we left after 1pm there were perhaps x4 the amount of people trying to get in. We couldn’t find the link to buy tickets ahead of time. Please make this accessible 🎫 We will be back! Haven’t been back for over a decade and so pleased to see that it’s almost the same as when we last went.

The water park itself is safe and a nice place to visit. Kids had alot of fun. However, the food served in the place is absolutely disgusting!!! Chicken burgers were drenched with old oil and tasted like cheap rubber. Beef burgers were also disgusting and wors rolls, the wors wasn't cooked inside. We had to throw over a R1000 worth of food in the bin!!!!. There are no other food suppliers inside the water park sadly and we hope that they change the suppliers or takeaway operating in the park.

The ques for everything are too long.Poor service from all the food kiosks.You wait too long for service.The food was sold out before midday.We were forced to leave because the kids were hungry and the was no food.Even buying only coldrinks was a mission.

Quite expensive to get in when not all the slides and facilities are working. Should be discounted if not all slides and pools are available. Most 'lifeguards' were either on their cell phones or asleep! See photo. If you are sleeping how can you rescue anyone who is drowning?

Thoroughly enjoyed the slides and pools. Great vibe at main pool, however there was absolutely no shade available on a very hot day. The park was no where near capacity, and still there were people sitting on the ground in the walkways just to get the smallest shades from the palm trees. I recommend a cloudy day and sunblock. Get there early to secure a good shade spot the day

It was a great experience, especially for kids! They seemed to enjoy it even more than the adults. Although the variety of birds wasn't extensive, the kids had a blast. I didn't feel like it was crowded, but I can imagine it would be busier during school holidays. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit!

This is a difficult review for me but I still give it 5 stars. Any less and they may not be featured in recommendations of things to do in Durban. And you should definitely visit the bird park! The park showed some signs of deterioration from a previous vidit, but the birds looked well cared for despite this. You have educational boards up at every exhibit, so thinking school excursions would be a wonderful boost for young minds and support this park. We did not see the bird show, hosted twice daily - but i remember it being such a wonderful experience. And if for no other reason, there are 2 birds in the park that stole my heart many years ago: a yellow crested cockatoo - who is the friendliest little thing ever. I don't think we should scratch their heads through the wires, but this one allows me to and actually throws a little tantrum when you stop or move on. The other us a another parrot who learned how to say "hello" and just repeats it non-stop while you are visiting his home. So cute!!!

Please go support the bird park so they can keep the interesting park going. There’s a coffee and tea place too. Some birds are really unique. Stay for the 11am or 2pm for the fly show.

What a welcoming and beautiful experience. The birds are very social and interactive. The park is run down but at least the animals looks healthy. Feel free to order something to snack! The food is good and the peacocks love the leftover bread and chips.

I visited the Umgeni bird park with my family. When we entered It was really hot so we purchased an ice cream from the Cockatoo Cafe for our 6 year old daughter. We then proceeded to the free flight bird show. Which was really amazing and we really enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. After the bird show we proceeded to the tables in the sitting area because our daughter is a very fussy eater so we carried her favorite snacks and foods that she will eat. She was hungry so she asked for a sandwich, when my husband removed the lunch box from our bag and opened it for our child to eat the Indian male from the Cockatoo Cafe rudely spoke to my husband in front of many other people that was there saying that there is a big sign outside saying no picnics, foods and drinks are allowed, which we did not see. Firstly we was not having a picnic we simply wanted to give our child something to eat because she was hungry and it was so hot and there was now where else with shade to sit. The manner it which he spoke and conducted himself was very rude and uncalled for and embarrassing he put our entire mood off and we left with immediate effect and did not get to view the rest of the bird park. This was a very bad experience for my family and myself which was uncalled for and we will never visit again. We will also be informing our families and friends about this place and tell them about our bad experience. Its because of arrogant people like this that places lose customers and finally close down. So sad

Such a wonderful place. Friendly stuff, stunning view, enjoyable game drive. Definitely worth going there! Don’t miss the Zulu Dance, you gain a short but interesting insight into its culture, putting you in a good mood.

We arrived and had plenty of time to look around the shop, crocodiles, restaurant, crocodiles, held a VERY big python (didn't realise just hold cold it would feel!), MORE crocodiles, and then the big drive through the park. It was BUMPY!! Which is quite a lot of fun for the kids! You get VERY close to the animals (gnu, kudu, giraffe, impala, warthog, zebra). The driver stopped and answered ALL the questions from our daughter. She impressed me with the number! But more impressive was the driver's answers! And, as in all of my reviews, would I go again? Yes. This time with a camera that was capable of self levelling and MUCH better zoom! Though, actually, not much zoom was needed! EDIT: Forgot to mention, the restaurant had a FANTASTIC view of "The Thousand Hills" (I didn't count them) and the food was excellent! Everywhere was clean and tidy. All the people working there were helpful and pleasant.

Phezulu Safari Park was the perfect introduction to South Africa for my fiancée. I am from Durban, so I am used to this sort of thing, but seeing it through her eyes made it feel new again. The park was clean, well-kept, and the views were absolutely beautiful. What really made the experience special was our guide, Sazi. He knew his stuff inside and out, and his passion for the animals really came through. You could tell the animals were healthy and well looked after, which made the whole experience even better. It was a brilliant intro to safari life and it has definitely sparked a new obsession with these incredible animals. Thank you to the team at Phezulu for a great time.

Place is kept neat and tidy,staff are friendly and helpful,food was excellent, views are fantastic and game drive guide Matt was excellent and gave us excellent information. Kids enjoyed their day. Will not hesitate to recommend this place.

Small zoos, not many big attractions it's basically like a bird park. There are beautiful peacocks that walk freely around the area and nice small well maintained enclosures. Would recommend for kids who love animals

It was Okay . I've been going there from the time I was small , the park has changed alot . I wish there was a restaurant in the Zoo so you can eat in there cause there's no restaurants anywhere else . The park was kind of unkept , flower gardens were good , it was a Quiet day for a Saturday. The entrance fees were really low under R20 per person . Some of the enclosures were empty and there's only bushes. The reptile house was dirty and I think it was closed but there's still spiders in it , hope they are taken care of . Some of the enclosures seem small for the animals. Like so many birds in a small cage . I feel like they need more space . Overall I love the park and will be back

Well kept and maintained. A better job can be done and a revamp is required. Lovely place to go with family for a picnic and visit the zoo. Lots of birds and animals to see. Fabulous memories are made here. On weekends come before 12pm for a good spot

what an exciting surprise....the Alpaca's....oh my word....absolutely amazing. Sadly the Zoo is not as i remember it....lots of empty and broken enclosures.... Still worth a visit. Hopefully it will be restored soon. The play area/jungle gym is closed,my son was extremely disappointed.

A good place for family and friends to relax in a clean and well maintained Park. The gardens are beautiful, safety is still reasonable and the animals in the zoo look happy. Great for kids or adults that enjoy abit of nature in the midst of Durban!

Beautiful upon entrance into the picnic gardens, Zoo is run down and unkempt, overgrown cages filled with weeds, workers were chopping down cycads and flowers , instead of weeding and trimming. Pity there is no more restaurant, but still an enjoyable outing for families

Beautiful kept gardens and plenty picnic space. Mitchell Park has changed their variety of animals but it's still worth the visit. There are no longer 🐇🐰 bunny rabbits and different species of monkeys and they have added new animals since we were last there. My suggestion for improvement would be to add a light in the dark room so the fishtank with the turtle is visible as the animals in the tanks in the dark room can barely be seen even by shining a cellph light. There were quite a few empty cages. Toilets were clean and staff onsite friendly and polite. All in all a lovely day, will be back ☺️

Really spiritual, you can feel the calmness and awe when here. The services are beautiful and well organized. You can go there at any time and just enjoy. There's even a restaurant just below the main temple. Scenic and spiritual. Always a blessed feeling to go through. No matter the religion or race, I would suggest going here to revel in the beauty of the temple.

This is my favourite place on earth. So tranquil. There's prayers at different times in the day, or you could just go and sit and meditate quietly. The food at Govindas at the temple is amazing.

One of the most Serene, Tranquil and spiritually uplifting centres in all of South Africa. Perfect answers to spiritual questions. Helpful staff and assortment of books and education available. Food is beyond amazing as well!!! Woodfire Pizza on site too! A must visit for all cultures and anyone wanting a deep connection during their travel.

Beautiful Krisna temple , one can also sit and meditate , Beautiful paintings on the ceiling , you can feed the fish or Eat A sumptuous meal in the Govinda Vegetarian restaurants.

If you visit Durban, and you don't visit a record holding attraction, you've got a problem. It's an inexpensive experience for something that can demonstrate the beauty of our local attractions 🙂

Beware of Thirupathi Spices I got robbed by the owner.4 Small packets of spices and 3 cokes for R 270.00.In JHB a pack of these spices is around R 20.00 each.Check before you Tap.Other shops told me im not the first,they over charge the tourists.

Good prices for authentic traditional jewelry, clothing and gifts. Not very busy. But too little parking. Very unsafe to park outside as metro police enjoy giving tickets and bully car guards rule the place, especially around the fish market. If you want to buy beaded stuff, come here and also bargain because it's one tenth the price you would pay elsewhere. There's also plenty spice shops. Plan to spend 1 - 2 hours here.

We arrived late morning and it was very quiet in the market. The parking was good as well as service facilities. All the stores displayed mainly touristy items. An interesting morning but would be better to go early. Definitely visit the spice shop and Aunty Pam's food store both excellent.

Nothing like advertised ; you are bullied into buying and when you say no they continue to push. Dirty and very dodgy even our uber driver wasn’t happy going there. They see the tourists coming and bullshit you into buying spices at expensive prices , I almost had a heart attack

The place is great to see. Nice exhibits interesting info. The shark show is the best part of the place worth it money.. Just going around the place is free so it's great Overall highly recommended spot.

Absolutely educational. The lady that does the presentation was excellent - very informative and fun for the kids. During the disection, kids were allowed to see various organ parts and feel what some look like.

Excellent visit to the sharks board! I kept counting visitors on the way from the parking lot to make sure we had the prescribed 15 attendees for the dissection. The video beforehand taught a lot but the dissection was the real education. I'd attended a dissection years ago with the really small shark, no big deal. Today's dissection was with a big tiger shark. My stomach didn't handle the sight and smell very well, but the presenter was very good and engaging with the kids, which helped me get through. Btw, apparently tiger sharks eat anything and everything and they pulled a bird from this one's stomach. They also had a mining helmet that they pulled from a previous display. Not for the squeamish or those who don't subscribe to the mission of the sharks board, but certainly a worthwhile outing with the kids if that doesn't bother you

What an absolute disgrace, show times as per website is not adhered to. Arrived before 9 am were told they will only do the show if we are enough people. After the video we were taken to the arena for the shark dissection. We were then told sorry they not going to cut the shark we are not enough people. We were 11 people and I had children that were utterly upset. All the fuel and travel time wasted.

Just as old as i am. Been coming here since my childhood. Well kept and interesting. Kids find it fascinating. Please support. It is run by a NPC.

Mini Town is a hidden gem! The miniature city is impressive and very well designed, making it fun for both kids and adults. Walking around the small-scale models gives a different perspective and makes the visit truly enjoyable. It’s a perfect stop for families, school trips, or anyone curious to see Durban in a unique way. Definitely worth a visit!

Minitown is well looked after and we had a great time experiencing it. What makes it even more special is the fact that everything is run from a control room by trained staff. I'll definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

Mini Town is well maintained, very clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend popping in.

It was cute and a nice little stop for foreign visitors to Durban. As a Durbanite, i expected a little more, but still thought it worth the price. The detail in some of the set ups were pretty impressive and you can walk through the different 'exhibits' for a closer look. There is a facility to buy snacks and drinks. We've were there for about 30 minutes. Saw a school trip at mini town with a guide talking about some of the structures that represented building in Durban from a couple of years ago. That was a nice touch.

Really fun experience. There is a lot of small shops; harbour(with fish) and a airport. There is a very small tuckshop at the end.

I absolutely loved seeing the city of Durban in a mini version. It's absolutely nostalgic, but I would love to see more of an updated current version of it.. Hopefully, they will get more sponsorships and stay open 🥰 It's a beautiful little world to take a little one 2.. We did it last year and this year, so it was great to see my little one grow ❤️

Beautiful free to enter Park with a lot of areas to chill and have picnics. It also offers canoeing. The river goes into the ocean, and there is a walkway to Blue Lagoon Beach. The GPS gets very confused here, so use your instincts or ask for directions.

Morning and lunch time its a nice quiet area for a walk or picnic. Ideal for group braais and family gatherings. Late afternoon and evening the crowds arri e and it gets very busy.

Had an epic weeekend at the Stanford Hill Park. Clean ablutions with available sanitary&wipe tissues. Plenty space for self braai stands with camp chair. Fabulous view of the dam to the ocean.

Busy at times, but very relaxing.

Attended the Bunny Chow Barometer competition.. The vibe was awesome.. Live music & entertainment.. Tasted a few bunny chows.. Some were very good & a few were not good .. Lots of giveaways by Coca Cola... Free coke tasting on entrance.. Oh entrance was free ... There was also a bunny chow eating contest.. live comedy ND entertainment by Karou Charou & Muthu Murugan kept us entertained ND in stitches.. Good vibes 👍💕

Always an amazing and refreshing experience. Only my third time going there today. Saw some beautiful classic cars such as a Valiant, Chevrolet Caprice, Datsun, Ford Cortina and a few others, as well as a modern Mustang. It's always so wonderful to walk along the river and sit on the pier having a snack and smelling the sea breeze.

It's a great place, but mainly for a family braai or something. Come from all over and just enjoy Durban- Blue Lagoon.
