Bread Mill has very tasty and fresh treats. Got their vanilla buttercream slice, a barone slice, cinnamon croissant and chicken tikka wrap. Everything was freshly made and very delicious, the portion sizes are also very nice and big and prices are very affordable. I look forward to buying again!

Purchased a brownie and pepper steak pie from you guys .I am so disappointed the brownie was stale and the pie tasted off as well .I couldn't even return the items because I had driven so far to get to the store to drive back .How can you guys feel okay with selling such food to your customers? So disgraceful. Had to throw both items away
Purchase a few bakery items. Pies no more tasty . Bought doughnuts . Asked the lady behind the counter serving if these doughnuts are fresh cause it looks stale. She insist it's fresh. Got home those doughnuts are stale and completely dry. Very did disappointed.
The Bread Mill is always my go-to spot when I’m in the area. They offer an impressive variety of pastries, pies, cakes, breads, and desserts, all freshly made and consistently delicious.
The coffee and tea are decent, but the real highlight is their baked goods. Service is fantastic — the staff are attentive, friendly, and always eager to help. They also handle custom orders and pre-orders with ease, which makes the experience even more convenient.

Had high expectations for this place based on my previous visits but it just wasn't the same. Got a selection of savoury pies and all of them were lacking. Some were too salty, some had chunks of fat for meat and some just tasted like the filling was old. A real disappointment.

Parking is an issue, but the addition of a security guard aids the situation.
Pies were above average, and my kids enjoyed the cake slices.

Our waitress, Anele, was so sweet and friendly and cheerful and attentive. 5 stars to you girl!! Mom and I both had the steak & fries and added eggs on,.. Guys.. Please try this! It was amazing... Eggs were great, whites were cooked and the yolks were leaky - perfect for dipping my fries! I had a cappuccino that was served with a miniature cookie, cutest little thing, well done to the barista-perfectly balanced double shot, perfect temperature and beautiful latte art, 5 stars to u bud!! The overall ambiance was just relaxing and intimate, allowing the visitors to unwind and really enjoy the delicious food and drinks and company. Mr Desai, your staff r making you proud and that's wonderful to see, big ups to you for keeping the ball rolling! Thank you for an epic experience... We will see you very very soon!!

I went for breakfast this morning. I ordered the traditional pie, chips and gravy. The pie I ordered was the masala steak pie. The gravy that it comes with is a carrot gravy. Weirdly enough, the gravy worked well with the pie and chips. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and actually thought it, especially the pie, was excellent - much better than I expected since I was skeptical after reading reviews here. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this meal and I would say that it is very good value for money given its price. On a side note, the masala steak was so good and of such good quality that I bought from one from the bakery to take home for later. It is not often one comes across really good high quality pies these days.

So chuffed to have found this little gem spot on Musgrave Rd by chance! A quaint Café Bakery that has kept the original decor from an old Chemist built in the 50s- complete with chandelier, molded ceilings and art decor style tiles! Amazing coffee, perfect pastries, original coriander sauce and yummy milkshakes! Nice Cape Town vibe direct on the street and lovely staff. When back in Durban, we'll definitely visit again.

I work with my parents in the catering industry, and they've never seen such passion for culinary work.
The simply eggs on toast is a hit. Everything was prepared well. The Americano was something else.
Excellent experience from start to finish, the food is outstanding. The Eastern breakfast was especially on point!
First timer and not impressed, they give you about 10 French fries and call that a serving LOL. I laughed and asked the waitress why do I have so little chips, she said it’s their portion size. Crazy stingy. Would not recommend. Food was average so you won’t be missing out.

Quaint bakery, great menu, and gluten free options. Dog friendly, good for groups, indoor or outdoor depending on the weather. We often go out of our way when bike riding to get there.
The Glenwood Bakery is the best bakery in Durban. Period. The setting on the sidewalk in Glenwood is idyllic and the crowd is eclectic and offers up a wide variety of patrons, a real melting pot for all the people of Glenwood.
Booking is essential for dinners, there are hardly any tables available if you don’t book! But don’t let that put you off. Book a table, you will not regret it.
There are also a selection of juices available but if you would like a glass of wine with your pizza, bring your own, which is great and adds to the experience. I’ve had champagne with my gnocchi and beer with my pizza, its very relaxed and chilled.

For a first experience having this kind of food, I really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance was comfortable and so beautiful while sitting outside. The service was wonderful and the brownie (which I finished so fast), was out of this world! I highly recommend visiting this spot.
If you're at the bakery, try get there early for the Almond Crousants, sour dough bread is also great!
If you're at the cafe, I HIGHLY recommend the peri-peri chicken livers with extra sourdough toast and butter. I'm not usually a livers guy, but these are different!

Walk in and feels like home. Everyone is so friendly and polite, especially the manager. He greets customers like he's known them for years. Approachable and helpful. Chateau cakes never disappoint. So difficult to pick which of their yummy treats to get when everything is screaming delicious 😋 cute cafe style seating with outside tables available too.

Great service, heavenly cake, very neat packaging lately. Only one problem, the cake doesn't last forever...😂 always want more after the last bite. Red Valvet and Choc Nostalgia favorites. Was here just a few minutes after loadshedding in the area had ended. So, they need to get their equipment up and ready again. No fault of theirs.The staff though, were apologetic (no need, guys) and went out their way to make us feel comfortable. Sat inside to enjoy the aircon. Typical warm Summer afternoon in Durban so had their Lemonade and Mint frappe - Awesome! Coupled it off with their carrot cake. I was home in Durban a week back and my parents insisted on taking me to lunch.
As a Durban boy, I think i know a good curry. We ordered lamb bunny chow and mutton breyani.
The breyani was okay, personally I wouldn't order it again, but the bunny chow is something I would go back for.
It made the drive to overport worthwhile, the bread was soft, curry was fresh, meat was tender and potatoes that melt to the touch.
Would definitely recommend their bunny chows.

I bought a pie today and I was given a terrible pie so i asked a ldy to change it for a better one and she did so but to my surprise the pie is old .the curry inside its so dry like it ws prepared last week. My husband is originally from here and 3 years ago he took me to bread ahead at the bluff, today we took the kids there but was told it moved. We googled one and found the one in Dr Pixlie street. Firstly no inviting aroma and no variety of selections. We each picked something, 6 items. To our surprise nothing was fresh. My carrot slice had green mouldy patches in it. Absolutely terrible. I will never buy from bread ahead. This is No way of serving the public. The same public that sustains your business.

My favourite flavoured cakes will always be the vanilla cakes. I enjoy the textures- it's usually moist and not too sweet. The sweetness is added by the icing on top. The cake is about to go inside the bin because no one wants another piece, that’s how terrible it tasted. We were disappointed because 8 months ago we purchased one and it was delicious. There were other things that were wrong but the most disappointing was the taste of the cake. The service we received from the girls was good though
Communication is poor, design was okay but for the picture they just used a small sticker, sponge of the cake was a 0 for me, Im not even going to eat it, I asked specifically for vanilla but there was velvet. Not happy at all

I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday (via WhatsApp) which was starting at 11am. I ask for the address and I was given 210 Umbilo Road (via WhatsApp). I get there and their shop is not at the address , I call and send WhatsApp and I get no response. Eventually I leave and go buy a general cake for my daughter because the party was starting at 11 am. I call again later in the afternoon and I eventually get hold of a lady by the name Anele who explained their address is actual 217 not 210 and they give 210 to customers because the GPS doesn't pick up 217. While I understand the explanation, I don't get how they expect customers to know this if they don't explain from start especially because the cake shop name is not even written on the building for you to even see.The next day I eventually get to the shop to see if it really exists because I was certain it's a scam. I get there and meet the owner (Siphokazi) who didn't bother to greet us, who looked so annoyed and ready to fight. She was so wildly rude, zero acknowledgement of the fact that they gave me the wrong address and failed to explain or respond to my messages. I eventually got my refund but I was appalled by the owner's horrible attitude.
I'm really disappointed with they service...I made an order, paid for it and sent my prove of payment. When I get there my cakes were sold. Apparently they were only doing walk ins...why not tell me that over the phone. Instead of me driving all the way for absolutely nothing.uMbilo branch mxm
Amazing service, she responds to every message you ask her promptly. Their cakes😍 taste amazing. When I ordered I forgot to tell her what flavors I would like and I remembered when I was picking the cake up and I gotta say I'm glad I didn't pick any flavors because the flavors Siphokazi and her team made for me were an amazing mixture. I now know where I'm always getting my cakes.

I contacted Joanne, requesting a birthday cake for my 2 year old son. Due to my my boy's obsession with Mr Bean, it seemed that was the best design to go with. Joanne was quick to respond and took precise note of the information details of my son. The final presentation was phenomenal, I haven't seen my son so excited before; his day was made incredibly special to have his favorite character presented with such passion and flare, in cake form. Not only was the cake classy in appearance, it was perfect in taste and texture; from sponge- to cream- to shell. Evidently this was not a rushed money-maker.
We will certainly take this route for the future special events of all our offspring and ourselves.

The Mahā Café is a great place for coffee and pastries. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The only downside is that it can be quite busy, so be prepared to wait a bit.
It is a really nice change of pace to find some where in Durban that one can get a good coffee and a fresh homemade pastry. A lot of places in Durban offer either a full breakfast which can often be very heavy early in the morning or some frozen pastries or muffins. This reminded one a lot of being in Europe as we had a properly made machiatto (a rarity in Durban as they tend to be milk heavy) with a freshly baked homemade croissant filled with cheese and a decadently rich brownie made with high quality chocolate. Making your own croissants is no small feet and it was perfectly laminated and buttery and my wife who is a pastry chef loved the brownie. We will definitely be back again to try out their lunch offerings which are modern and fresh with tantalising flavour combinations. It is really refreshing to see a cafe not doing something different and not the same few menu items that every cafe offers. They also have an extensive drinks menu that includes high end cocktails with proper mixology, freshly squeezed juices and a selection of teas (proper teas not fruit flavored stuff pretending to be tea) If you are in Durban and looking for a cafe that is exceptional and different from the usual fair definitely give Maha a try. We will definitely be back to in the future and will update my findings.

A Wonderful Experience with Exceptional Service
We had a fantastic visit to this coffee shop! Although two of the items I initially ordered weren’t available, our waiter Nkosingiphile
handled the situation with such grace, professionalism, and a genuine smile that it didn’t feel like a setback at all. He offered great alternatives and made sure we felt taken care of from start to finish.
The atmosphere was cozy, the coffee was excellent, and the service truly stood out. It’s rare to see someone stay so composed and attentive under pressure—a real credit to the team. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

I cant even count the number of times I’ve dined here for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. This app only allows 50 pics, I have a lot more.
Always excellent meals, flavours, portions, textures together with great service. Certain ingredients have their flavours elevated to levels that i never thought was even possible.
Its also worth noting that the ingredients are always well sourced as this restaurant goes out of their way to procure organic and from sustainable sources.
This is really a hidden gem in durban that is well worth exploring. They are well above any normal expectations.

Very disappointing. By the name and setup of the store, you would expect to have a menu at the table and maybe a waitron to serve. Once I did order at the counter, I was given my drink in a plastic cup. For the price it madness

Well its a very nice place went for a pot of tea and got a giant cookie when i was done went to service counter to ask what i owed them the girl tells me she will bring it because she and another girl where busy with the same customer and both proceeded to help 3 more customers well i was sitting outside waiting for my bill(10min) all the girls(4 staff members) in the shop seemed to think it was fun to make me wait well the girl in charge can see me waiting. The girl who served comes out to with the card machine in hand askes me am i paying card or cash i say cash she then askes me if i can pay inside and this is all assuming because she just does not want to walk up and down. I pay my bill so i ask them what my review of the company should be expecting them to say we are underpayed we work long hours but no. Not a single valid reason for laughing well i wait for bill. And then when i left and thay assumed i was out of hearing distance thay start laughing about it. I really hope its funny now
Chateux gateaux still produces some of the best cakes I’ve tasted. The consistency is unmatched.
The branch in Durban North is a bit more spacious than some of the other branches in Durban. The staff were friendly and as always, the cake was good.

This is the best Château Gâteaux I’ve had out of three different locations. The B-1 cake is delicious as always. I tried their red velvet cheesecake and that was phenomenal as well. 100% recommend, even as a takeaway the presentation is good, great portion size.

Luxury dessert items with something on the menu for everyone. They have THE BEST croissants 🥐. Decadent chocolate and mousse cakes, cheesecakes , apple crumble, red velvet, the original bar one cake, amongst others. The cakes are rich and a little really does go a long way. The nice thing is , it can be frozen and stored so no wasting ! 👏👏 I've been using this branches for almost 10 years now and the quality has been consistent and the cakes and desserts never disappoint.
