The 50 best cheap eats in Durban

It was our first time at this restaurant, and we were very disappointed with our experience there! It was actually a Valentine's Date Night Special which you would think to get special treatment to mark the occasion however that wasn't the case! The restaurant wasn't even busy yet the service was so slow. The starter was the only tasty dish (Spicy Chicken Livers). Our mains were not good (steak), ordered medium. A good steak would melt in your mouth, when cut the knife should just glide through. This was like cutting rubber, and chewing it was just the same. I'd only eaten 2 tiny bites. The chips were also a bit sad, but veggies were tasty. Dessert was ok, lemon tart had the lemon flavour but an eggy taste was coming through as well, and the candied nuts mentioned were like tiny scraps on there. Good presentation of the food however misleading considering the taste of it. We had to wait a while to order drinks and receive it. We stay so often at the Elangeni Hotel, and it's sad to see that a restaurant like this is spoiling the good reputation of this hotel. May be it was just our bad luck to receive bad service and food on that night. Nevertheless, Very Disappointing service, won't be going back here.

Celebrated my sons 21st birthday and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! Awesome experience, food was awesome, service by Vusi was awesome......top quality presentation....cocktails mouth watering 😋 but I'll let you decide from the photos

This is a very nice restaurant! The environment and atmosphere are so beautiful and nice. The servants are also very polite, kind, and attentive. The food, no complaints!! IT WAS NICE!! VERY DELICIOUS. I decided to take the Lamb Shank, with smashed potatoes and veggies. The Lamb was very delicious, well seasoned, and everything. And to drink I got the famous Strawberry Daiquiri, also very nice, but if you are a person who is not really into very sweet things, I don't recommend you this one, cuz as it gets to the end you will feel it getting even more sweeter. Unfortunately, I didn't have a dessert, but I'm pretty sure they are also nice. P.S: Unfortunately, this time, I didn't bring a review of one of Maputo's restaurants, but in case you travel to Durban, please try this one😉

We took my daughter out for a birthday dinner. Staff, Food and Atmosphere was excellent 👌 I definitely recommend you visit this place. The welcome drink is fantastic. The free buns and chutney is tasty. They also give a complimentary cake for the person celebrating they birthday. They really make you feel comfortable. Keep up the excellent work 👏 👍 👌

My heart is saddened writing this review... I love this restaurant and have been eating here for years. The kitchen works very hard at creating beautiful meals - but the front house staff and the ambience moves the restaurant from a five star to a two star. Lights flickering (this has been the case throughout this year - the management seems uninterested in fixing this) tonight, the wait staff began an altercation with my family about a R30 coffee... calling us liars (our bill was above R1000 - we were charged for a coffee we hadnt ordered) - the staff continued to humiliate us until pur departure... extremely heartbroken - I really loved this restaurant over the years... and travel a great distance to dine here... I will not be coming again

The food was delicious. Had prawns The waiters were welcoming, friendly and polite. The toilets are very clean. The music not too loud. The atmosphere joyful and private.

Attended Valentine's dinner service, and I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. For R1100.00 per couple, there was no champagne on arrival, music too loud, and being seated across a rowdy bar isn't ideal, especially on Valentine's Day. With a few rose petals and a tea light candle, the ambiance was not giving a lot of romantic vibes. Now for the food, it was okay. The lamb "rack" consisted of 2 chops, and the line fish needed some starch. We left, still hungry. Now here's my gripe, the entire week Dukkah promoted a happy hour from 5 to 7pm , I stand to be corrected with the times, on Thursday night they canceled due to the restaurant being fully booked, I actually booked here to take advantage of that promo. It just left a bad taste in my mouth, also there were too many people handling the bookings and someone canceled ours by mistake. There was also a typo on the menu, mouse instead of mousse, attention to detail goes a long way & leaves a lasting impression. Will I return... maybe but not on a special occasion. They failed to capture one of the most romantic nights of the year.

Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the upbeat sound of house music. The restaurant was bustling yet exuded a fantastic vibe and ambiance. A gentleman greeted us at the entrance and asked for my booking details. After confirming my name, he quickly searched through a list and then asked where I would like to sit. He escorted me to our table, handed us the menus, and informed us that our waiter would be with us shortly. Our waiter, Akhona, promptly approached us to take our order. We requested a few minutes to decide, and she kindly accommodated our request. After about five minutes, Akhona returned to take our drink order. We opted for a non-alcoholic orange cocktail and a bottle of Beyerskloof. It would have been nice to have the wine available by the glass since I wasn't fond of the options for the Pinotage. For starters, we chose the Avalanche sushi and bone marrow. Although the order was delivered by another server, Akhona did check in on us, though we didn't see her much afterward due to the restaurant's busyness. Another server came by to take our main course order. As for the food itself, the presentation, taste, and flavors were impeccable—definitely a solid 10/10. The lamb chops were tender and bursting with flavor, cooked perfectly to a medium-rare. The rump steak was also good, with just a bit of sinew but expertly prepared. Though I would have loved to try dessert, the portions were quite filling and satisfying. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Dukka Restaurant and Bar, and I highly recommend this hidden gem!

Well worth every cent you spend, food is excellent, atmosphere is soothing, service is well above par, only downside is parking. Lovely place to hold a meeting. A bit pricey but we'll worth it.

Phenomenal food and cocktails, was really wowed by the menu and the world class food taste, quality and presentation! Highly recommended to pay this spot a visit! Food was fresh and delicious, table of 7 and everyone LOVED their food! Gorgeous decor and atmosphere with superb service. Will definitely be returning.

The Roma Revolving Restaurant hosted us on 28 June 2025 in celebration of my husband’s 50th birthday. It was truly an elegant and memorable dining experience with food that was faultlessly prepared and presented. The hallmark of the evening was certainly the table side preparation of the Chateaubriand and Crepes Suzette, for which Roma is renown, expertly executed by the famous Gino. I last visited Roma in 2014 and now more than 10 years later it remains the Grand Madame of fine dining in Durban. The Roma staff are par excellence adding to the elevated experience.Together with the views offered by this location, these are the ingredients for an exceptional evening out. This grand lady could however do with a refresh to ensure that she doesn’t lose her brilliance. Nonetheless thank you Roma Revolving Restaurant for a wonderful evening.

Beautiful setting with Italian music and a retro vibe with breadsticks and sweet bread served while you wait for the meals to be prepared. Expect to wait for service as this is not a restaurant to visit when you are in a hurry. Appreciate the 360° view of Durban from this revolving restaurant which is one of only 3 in the southern hemisphere. One rotation of the restaurant takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Definitely worth a visit.

Last visited Roma about 10 years ago! I am happy to say that the service has improved a lot! Foods were all delicious. And we had an overall great time. A 10% service fee was added to the bill, but it was clearly visible, so that is all right with me.

I was transported to the 70s/80s which was very interesting and fun. For dinner, I had the orange glazed duck which was tasty and something different for me. The muscle starter was also nice. The sponge cake dessert was a bit underwhelming though and overpriced. Overall a nice experience.

Absolutely stunning experience - still great after many years - can’t say anything but wow 🤩 Durban CBD has been criticized for many reasons but by all means : Roma Restaurant is a place to go to and enjoy- the views, the atmosphere, amazing food and good old style service 👍🏼🥰

We had a lovely father's day lunch here. Food is always so fresh and of good quality. They also usually have very good specials and good variety of food.

Jack Salmon Glen Ashley never disappoints. We visited on Saturday, 29 September, and once again it was sublime. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, with the sushi always a highlight. Service is outstanding – attentive without interrupting, with staff who are polite, professional, and anticipate your needs. The attention to detail shines through in every aspect, from the beautifully plated meals to the seamless service. The recent upgrades to the décor and bathrooms have lifted this intimate, well-run restaurant to the next level. Impeccable food, impeccable service, and a warm, stylish atmosphere – Jack Salmon remains one of Durban’s finest. It’s my all-time favourite restaurant and always my first choice.

I was here a year ago with family whilst over from Australia. It was the great food, atmosphere, and hospitality that made me come back again this trip. Amazing food, fabulous value and what an awesome hostess Ayo was. Hopefully I'll be back soon for more of the same goodness!

I have always loved Jack Salmon. But in this particular occasion, I felt very let down. We were celebrating my mom's birthday and the service was poor, we had to call on numerous occasions to get some kind of service and the prawn pasta tasted sweet even after we brought this to our waiters attention. I still love the vibe, just not sure if I would go back with a big group

Happy, festive atmosphere. Food was fantastic, service by all staff but specially by my waiter Thando was awesome. If I was local would frequent the restaurant frequently.

We were so impressed with the nachos ,they were absolutely yummy. Please ,please ,please try the steak nachos!!! We also ordered the KFC wings and the first time we tried them,we were mind blown however when we tried them the second time ,on a different day, I must admit there was a slight lack in consistency with the wings, still good but not out of this world.

Visited Smoking Joes during their big burger special today. The shop was extremely busy, and the staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and number of orders. I was informed there would be about a 3-hour wait, but it ended up being closer to 4 hours. The food was tasty once it arrived, but unfortunately, the long wait and disorganization made the special not really worth it.

Food = 5/5 , The Gipsy burger 🍔 as recommended by staff member Ziyaad was amazing , one of the best burgers I’ve ever had , no cap 🧢, we additionally tried the Smoking Joe burger and that too was really delicious! (P.s , my wifey and usually request our food to be cut in half so that we can try different menu items at once ) Service = 5/5, We arrived unannounced (no reservation) however , one staff member by the name of Ziyaad , went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable while waiting for a table , very impressed with the service. Atmosphere = 4/5, A small joint but spacious in how it’s seating is laid out, the cooling inside could be improved however , although we sat outside. Overall Rating = 4.66/5 ⭐️

Tastiest burger and crispiest fries. I ordered the Nashville Nacho burger and it did not disappoint. The Jalapeño Poppers were popping! My only critique is that the passion fruit drink could be in a bigger glass, it’s overpriced for that size.

Let’s start with the patties! Many restaurants use frozen patties, but at Joe’s, they use fresh, pure beef. They’re absolutely delicious! I ordered the Beef Royale, and it was so tasty and juicy. I highly recommend it! I was strolling down Florida Road, seeking a serene and laid-back spot to enjoy a solo meal. I then turned to Google Maps for some recommendations, and guess what popped up? Smokin Joe’s Knockout Burgers! 🍔 This place is going to be my new go-to for burgers. The guy outside who I think is the owner was super friendly. He greeted me when I came in and even asked for my feedback when I left!

I came in today with my son for lunch we were served with a lovely friendly lady, couldn't take here name because the atmosphere got tense in a fraction of a second. I never expected this in such an establishment like Smokin joe. We never enjoyed our meal due to the snapping of the indian ladie i think she is the manager as she said. Would have wished to contact direct to someone in authority over this lady. I felt sorry for the lady who was serving us by the way she was handled by the lady manager. I so disrespect at its maximum to a coworker shouting in front of customers, i also felt disrespected thats why i called for her. Confronting the ladie and shouting am giving a warning in front of customers that was unprofessional because we knew nothing was happening instead of calling her to the office. This needs to be addressed inhouse issues must not be that exposed not pleased at all.

I'm a regular at Smokin' Joe's and have always enjoyed your burgers, but my recent visit was absolutely terrible. Today, I bit into my burger and hit a bone, which was incredibly painful and actually caused a tooth filling to come out. This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. On top of that, the chips were soggy and cold, which isn't what I expect from you. It's clear that the standards have really dropped. I'm writing this review because I've never had a problem before, but this experience was unacceptable. Please address the issue with your supplier.

Lovely experience at mozambik Wilson's wharf. Food was delicious. Great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. It's just general thing I noticed at some restaurants, where the plates smell like egg.🤪Please if you could wash them out with something like a lemon dishwashing liquid that won't leave behind this smell.

Food was fabulous and our waiter Max , great service. Cocktails were so pretty. The music was excellent, my niece felt it was a bit too loud. We however had a wonderful Sunday outing with our little family group.

Service initially was slow... waiter was MIA.. The live band is a bit too load... I enjoyed the music however a tad notch lower in volume would be even better... Food made up for everything though. Had sushi and the espatada... Best oyster shots by far... Didn't enjoy the long Island ice tea... lacked something... then I realized it was probably the premix being used. Great value for money overall.

Great food ! The chicken and prawn combo was lovely. Chicken and prawns were moist and tasty. The vegetables side was unique. Yummy coconut rice. Loved it! Went for a midweek dinner date and it really does have the ideal setting. Watching the evening durban skyline across the water, as old school rnb plays in the background? While munching on delicious food? Yes please! The food was fresh and delicious, and good value for money. I had a spicy chai latte, which was just enough, not overwhelming. My mains were the medium prawns in a garlic butter sauce with chips. I would highly recommend the double decker for dessert- it hits the spot! Will definitely be back 😊

Gem of a place with exceptional service. Everything was perfect. Food, drinks and service, ambience. I’m usually skeptical about duck because of the gamely tatse but the Duck wonton starter had an amazing comforting deep flavour when combined with the lentil. The pear added just a hint of sweetness . The Mozambique chicken was tender and flavorful. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior. Cafe Monroe is a must. I will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Enjoyed a celebration birthday lunch at Cafe Monroe, fantastic meal of Beef short rib and a Trio of salmon with two additional salads. The service was excellent and then we were surprised and delighted when we were served and excellent creme brulee for the birthday boy, thank you!

Café Monroe is a delight for the senses! Craig and Chef Margo from Franschoek have created something very unique in the heart of Musgrave. Every plate was a delight and tantalised the tastebuds even more!👌🏻 The ambiance with Bossa Nova music, attention to service, and food to match was truly most memorable and an experience not to be missed!

If you order food at this establishment you must have a lot of patience as they are under staffed. I will personally not visit again. After you order food and pay for it the staff then tell you they don't have the items that you ordered. Disgusting service.

Awesome selection of spices, ingredients, ready-made spice-mixes and snack foods. Also has a great cafe inside which serves some of the tastiest chaat in the city. Definitely worth a visit even if it's just for a quick snack. Would recommend the pav bhaaji and Bombay crush.

Visited the store after a few years because I saw that the chaat shop reopened and WOW! Delicious veg food at reasonable prices. We had pani puri, sev puri, bombay sandwich, pav bhaji and limbu pani. The flavours transported me back to the roadside eateries of Mumbai. I always say that India is the one country I could be vegetarian in and the food reminded me why!

I was very disappointed with the cocoa powder it was mostly cinnamon not even ground properly. I understand it’s for baking not drinks. I bought cocoa powder from gorimas colour is darker and only cocoa powder no added ingredients.

One of the City Centres hidden gems. A wide array of spices that is enough to spice up more than your life. Delectable tantalising treats for sweet and spicy and sour. Imported tasty pickles, freshest powdered spices, every conceivable spice anyone would ever need to conjure up the most amazing Indian Dishes See secure parking adjacent to the store. Convenient as well.

Everytime I visited Durban this was one of my fav spots to buy stuff n eat loads of Indian gastronomy. My heart broke to see it's been reduced to penny size n all that attraction of food disappeared.

Popped in for a quick take-away meal. Was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, informative as she advised us on the best sellers and famous dishes . Settled for the crumbed chicken strips and chips, and the B&C's battered chicken burger. The food came expertly packaged, sturdy and definitely able to withstand the drive home without taking any damage 👍. The chicken strips were marvelous, tender breast strips, coated with a crispy but light coating that crunched with every bite taken. The burger is very, very good. A whole chicken breast, with a crispy battered coating that is very reminiscent of the southern-style deep fried technique. Fresh, crispy and wholesome flavours. Topped with fresh soft-leafed lettuce, and a zingy lime coleslaw, all held together by a generous , soft sesame seed bun. Fantastic. Both these dishes are accompanied by crispy , golden, perfectly fried French fries. Great experience, will be back to sample their pizzas soon 😋. Recommended 👍

The food is great, amazing tasty chicken and really good pizza. Staff are friendly but no table service - You need to order at the counter and then go fetch your food when ready. Not great seating and limited. A little pricey but not too bad. In a good safe area with decent parking (you need to pay though if over 30mins) and a good overall vibe.

The food always amazing at Bird & Co. The food took a while to get ready due to how busy they were. We had a small issue where we were charged for a gluten free base on the pizza (which we did not ask for) and only realized it about 10 minutes after placing our order we brought it to the staffs attention and we were given the refund for that added extra. So just double check your receipts

Chilled vibes, great food and good service, food was ready in no time. I will be visiting back soon. It's good to have a safe place to get fresh air during these trying times.

Last week Thursday we went for dinner. We sat in to eat. The table was dirty, we had to ask for it to be wiped. After wiping it was STILL dirty. The staff were not friendly. We waited a while for our food. And not to say they were busy. Staff were up and down going out of the restaurant (via the back) Tables with nobody sitting were left dirty. Bad experience. I will not be going back to that branch again. On my way out I took pictures of the dirty tables, with no patrons sitting at them.

Roti and Chai Review Really disappointed with my experience. The wrap was extremely watery, the lettuce tasted old, and overall it was barely edible. Definitely not what I expected.

NEVER order the mutton burger. Extremely small portion and taste is pathetic. Its not worth half the price. Staff customer service and basic business ethics lacks at this establishment. Its unfortunate and the owner should really reconsider his burger menu. Lots to improve on. Management is zero

Worst Roti & Chai ever!!! I ordered the chicken naan wrap with chips, the wrap was extremely soggy and the chips wasn't cooked. Please prepare your food properly, people are paying money to order from you. I will never order from here again.

This place has the worst customer service, even on management level! I ordered a spicy kebaab wrap and the kebaabs were not cooked. It had a sourish taste and was raw. I took the wrap back to the store and explained to the staff that the kebaabs were not cooked. They took it to the back and sent a message to manager who took approximately 30-45 minutes to resolve the issue and authourize a refund. He was very rude and arrogant and acted as if he was doing me a favour. This is the second time, we have experienced pathetic service from this store. Previously, I had ordered and paid for a chicken tikka wrap and I was given a paneer wrap. I sent through an email with images to the Roti and Chai customer care but I had no response. When I tried calling the store to ask for a manager, the staff said their manager does not work there. I will not be supporting this business again due to the pathetic customer service and extremely poor management. This is not the level of service that you offer to your clients!

Stood there and waited and somehow my wrap was ice cold. Ordered spicy and it was extremely mild. There was more salad in my wrap than chicken. Extremely dissapointing because I love Roti and Chai. The staff were really friendly though. Just not good food.

Ordered the chicken burger on the 31 December 2024. Wasn't impressed with the portion of the fillet and the burger considering we paid R75 which is an above market price for a chicken tikka burger. We should be paying for value otherwise its not worth the money we pay. It was my first time and was really disappointed. Won't recommend anyone buying the burger.

The food is great, out of this world, actually. Before I complained about the service, it was horrible. After I expressed how ridiculous it was, everything went smoothly.

After an exploration of the Durban promenade this little Cafe/restaurant popped up and mind you Durban was sizzling hit yesterday. As we arrived, we were greeted by David and our drinks orders taken, we had really only come in to quench our thirst. David explained to us that they had revamped and gave us a quick run down or happy hour specials and the buffet special at their new breakfast spot right at the top of the Bellaire hotel called Sunset Lounge. Overall experience was great and now we have a new spot for drinks and breakfast.

Service from the staff was not that bad. We had a smash burger, wings (which were great)with fries but the fries were stale and my overall experience was not satisfactory. Hopefully they will improve.

Nice place to chill and have a few drinks with friends. The vibe is to die for.

When you are walking around the beach front, you can just taste the delicious meals such as steaks or pizza. Highly recommend.

Joops place is under New Management in the last year or so and the quality of food has really deteriorated. Dined in on 19/02/25. Requested for a fillet and ribeye steaks. There were none in stock as per our waiter Connor. Ordered a rump steak and it was sent back as it was tough and sinewy. The manager on duty agreed that it was cheap cut as he had same for lunch! 😳. If it’s a cheap cut, why serve this to customers?). It’s not okay!!! Falkland calamari was tasteless and dry. The chicken livers had a weird texture sauce. The Jalapeno cheesey chips were over-fried and baked further for the cheese to melt and resulted in dehydrated chips. The bread offered with the livers was a burger 🍔 bun cut in half , toasted and served. 😏. Not impressed! The only decent starter was the Peppered boerewors. 😕

Oh what a great experience. Highly recommend Joop's Place for Meat. If you want to have a great steak, consider Joop's place and be blesses with a steak out of this world. I had a Tomahawk and my partner had a Lamb Shank. We both enjoyed our meals to the core. Lol, I even put the cutlery to decisively deal with the bone. We were both so full we had to take dessert away. Service was great, though it was packed due to the occasion of that day. Atmosphere is well balanced. Definitely going back for another steak!

I recently visited Joops Place Westown for the first time. It was my wife’s birthday so we decided to indulge. Upon arrival there were friendly and pleasant staff to seat us down. The atmosphere with the light music in the background made the ambiance enjoyable collectively volume was right enough to hear the conversations. I indicated that it is my wife’s birthday to the friendly waitress and she ensured that “she’s Got me”. She was gifted with a complementary fondant chocolate cake which was so unexpected but was thankful. The food : Amazing. Service:Excellent. Cleanliness: Spotless. I will definitely be joining JoopsPlace Westown again and again. 🙏🏻☺️

This was my first time at Joop’s — and let me tell you, it’s easily one of the best steakhouses I’ve ever been to! I had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, and it was absolutely incredible. The mash was buttery and silky smooth, and the lamb just melted in my mouth — cooked to perfection. The quality, flavor, and experience were all top-notch. Joop’s is definitely going to be a regular stop for me every time I’m in Durban. Highly recommended!

These were the best pork ribs I have ever had! Their main dishes are inexplicably appetizing. Their food is impeccable and definitely delectable. The succulent meat dishes are paired with flavourful and yummy sides of choice... I personally enjoyed their style of butternut. It was hearty and scrumptious. This is the type of place you go to EAT! And if you're a meat Lover, you will definitely enjoy the food this place. The atmosphere is chilled. The meals are of great quantities, good quality and definitely value for money. 💸

What a lovely restaurant, with excellent service and superb food. I had the famous pepper fillet in a pan ... man oh man was this good‼️ It is cooked in the sauce in a small copper pan... and then served in the pan. Absolutely the best steak I've had in a very long time. My wife had the regular fillet, with a cheese sauce and she also complimented the steak, and mentioned that the cheese sauce was very good and creamy. Pity I don't get to Durban often enough to enjoy this in a more regular basis.

Seeing that today they were hosting a Fashion show, they should have closed business to tend to that. Everything fell short for us as customers. I don't know if the place is under new management or what? but the food was lack luster, stock was a problem so there were many substitutes for a set meal on their Menu. The staff tried their best but i could see that the problem is Managerial. The place still has great potential, they just need to DO BETTER!

We had the most delicious platter of traditional Ethiopian dishes including tibs and injera this evening. Talented chef, Mahalet Talahun is the lady behind this awesome food and owner Alazar is an extremely gracious host. Freedom Cafés coffee is, to me, the best in Durban. Very chilled vibe in a hidden gem in Greyville.

Beautiful set up nesting under a massive tree. One feels this closeness with nature as you sip on your morning cappuccino and take a bite of your freshly prepared breakfast. The staff are very friendly and professional. The menu is uniquely put together taking into consideration the modern individual with a need to eat healthier food. Fresh vegetable juices are prepared as you wait. Certainly one of my favourite cafés in Durban. There are high bar chairs inside as well as outside relaxed seating. Ample safe secure parking and a play area for smaller children.

The ambiance is exquisite and everyone is incredibly friendly. Staff are well trained and very hospitalable. We had breakfast here and it was amazing. The place itself is incredibly picturesque and beautiful. Truly a tranquil little gem snuggled in the busy city. 10/10 would recommend.

Went to Freedom Cafe on Sunday, left very underwhelmed. The location was okay, we sat at the outside seating at the back since the front was busy. Our waiter was a pleasant guy, he visited the table often but never stayed long enough to get everything we wanted so we found ourselves calling on him often. Our food left alot to be desired. . . I was not a fan of the Macon in the Omelette, odd flavour and very fatty. **The bathrooms need a little refresh. I would go for a drink in the front area, however they wouldn't be on the top of my list of places to go agian.

I was in Durban on Vacation, we made a turn to Freedom Cafe for breakfast, we ended up sitting there the whole day, iv never set at a restaurant for more than 8 hours.... we had to cancel all our plans scheduled for that day, we were so comfortable, it's such a private and beautiful space... the deco inside and out, modern yet vintage style... I LOVE IT.! The hospitality, the respect from the staff, it's out of this world... uMadlamini served us from morning until evening never got tired of our demands, with her beautiful personality and smile . I will highly recommend this place to everyone I know that would be visiting Durban. Thank you so much for making my day such a beautiful experience. I was there on the 3 Nov 20019.

TL;DR - Not going back. I have been wanting to eat at Freedom Cafe for sometime now and I must say that it was very disappointing. They did not have avocado, mushroom and orange juice available - that cuts out a lot of breakfast options. The waiter then suggested a fruit blend juice which tasted like syrup diluted in water (we wanted fresh juice; as it appeared on the menu). We also ordered an iced coffee which was pathetic. After sitting outside for a while we asked to move indoors as the seats were dirty and it was a windy day. It was a blistering, humid day of 34 degrees and the air-con was not working. At this point we were concerned about the quality of the food. Luckily the food was decent. This along with the service provided by the waiter has resulted in a 2-star rating. If not for these two things I would not have given any (if that was possible).

Had an amazing lunch here with friends. The service was great and the food was good. I ordered the seafood platter for one and everything was done really well. It is HALAL, so no alcohols were served, much to the disappointment of my friends. The waiting time for the food was moderate given what we ordered so we had no issues with it. Overall, it was a good service and our waiter kept checking to make sure we were satisfied.

I holidayed in North beach. I visited this place 3x during the 7 days I stayed. The food is real good, fish is fresh and prawns are so delish. But the service is really depressing. I called upon waiters multiple times just to order. They didn't come back for drinks. I had to signal the bill about 3x. In my last visit, one order took 50 minutes(only 5 tables were occupied), my waitress got my order wrong and didn't even bring any condiments. The food and atmosphere is very pleasant. But the service is slow and isn't up to standard.

We received excellent service from Hector! Ask for him if you decide to visit. Our meals were absolutely delicious! Generous portions. I was very pleased to see that they have a security guard monitoring the parking in front of the restaurant and entrance.

Delicious Food & Amazing Service! We had such a great time at Ocean Basket North Beach! The food was absolutely delicious. We had their special, the hake burger, high tide platter, perfect catch platter, and panko salmon sushi. Everything was full of flavor! We were so excited to eat that we forgot to take any photos 😅 Huge thanks to our lovely waitress, Shamiso, who was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The drinks were just as good – the lemon cooler and chocolate milkshake were super tasty, and the tea for one gave us three cups! Can’t wait to go back!

Hector was our waiter and great service and he was polite and efficient. The food 😋 was amazing and fresh, the special is amazing for the price. The new OB Soda is so tasty 😋 The location is to die for when enjoying the meal.

The last time we went there we had the worst experience ever, we complained and we were offered a complimentary table. Today's experience wasn't so bad from the management side, ground staff definitely needs more training. The food was nice- we had a 2 course meal. Both. Mains and desserts tasted lovely. The managers on site were more attentive to our needs than the last time. Waiters' service is quite slow and if you're not a regular, you won't get adequate treatment. Food was nice though.

We decided to visit Butcher Block on Florida Road this past Sunday to try out the Tomahawk Steak. Personally I'm not one to hurry on and eat steak because again, sometimes it isn't prepared well and there's a weird taste( I refer to it as still hearing the cow moo when you eat it😂😂). At first the waiter we had just gave us menus and disappeared for another 35 minutes, on my way back to my seat I asked the manager to send us a waiter as we were ready to order drinks. A waiter was sent, I asked for the umbrellas to be opened, we were seated outside, we had a hubbly and the sun was quite strong. He said he couldn't open it as the wind was bad and its going to fall over and hit something. It was understandable, he took our orders and we got them. The waiters then changed shifts and our new and final waiter(I think his name was Matt) was an absolute pleasure! He opened up not one but two umbrellas for us and positioned them so that we were in the shade. We then ordered a starter and chose the mushroom florentine. He came to check up on us 10 mins after the order was placed and said it would be ready in a minute and I kid you not, it was there in less than a minute. The mushrooms were massive and loaded with a creamy spinach filling and plenty of cheese which was still bubbling when we received it and it also came with some crisp bread, he also brought us a jar of their Chilli chutney which was divine, just the right balance of sweet and spicy. The florentine was delicious as well and filled with flavour. I felt like having a cocktail and asked what he'd recommend, he recommended the GnT, which was not only a pleasure to look at and snap but was super yummy, the gin wasnt too little or too much, again, a perfect balance. After 20 minutes we ordered what we went there for which was the Tomahawk Steak, we opted for the 700g as the both of us wouldn't have finished anything more as the starter was quite filling. We ordered it with a salad as a side and wanted the steak medium. The steak arrived in 10 minutes and was prepared to perfection, the smell got me super hungry again(idk how because I just ate). First bite in and it was so succulent, tender and juicy. The flavors were so well infused into the meat that I could actually taste it right in the middle, even the rosemary, the butter it had on it soaked in a bit too and this was by far the best steak I've had the joy of eating. The salad and dressing were well put together and easy to eat and also made the perfect accompaniment to this delectable dish which was also very beautifully presented to us. Our waiter constantly checked on us to make sure we enjoyed our food and that we were happy with what we had received. This experience was nothing short of perfect. Will definitely visit again soon and try the larger Tomahawk Steak :D. The service was also super awesome, big ups to Butcher Block Florida road and the waiter who served us!

A remarkable steak house situated on Florida road. The drinks were well made and the food was impeccable and made to perfection. It was telling that the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals and this is refreshing considering the fact that we were a 6 head table with differing tastes. The service is also excellent as the server was attentive and recommended dishes and drinks to us. I can't wait to have dinner here again.

Enjoyable venue with a constant buzzing atmosphere. Drinks were good, meals were amazing and hearty. We came in a group of 12+ which required a great deal of tables and chairs which management was quite accommodating with our needs, requests and so on. Meals and drinks are moderate to pricey however, you will enjoy your time here. See menu in picture for price range.

Quick and Friendly Service. A great serving of flavourful curries. We had mutton bunnies as well as chicken curry and roti. Both were served hot and full of flavour. The bread was fresh as well. Visited what has been heavily praised in the media and social media as the best place to have a traditional Bunny chow in Durban let alone South Africa. In a nutshell, you must be a le to handle strong spicy food, restaurant is truly basic, service is non existent, quality of the food is hit and miss. We ordered the lamb and chicken bunny, please also note that all these variations come in one sauce hence only the mixture changes. Also prices change regularly so what is posted here may change in a week or month. We had lunch, on a public holiday, it is very busy with locals. Prices are not cheap, for three people my bill with Gelato desserts was over R400. The quality of the lamb meat was poor in that it was tough, the chicken was chicken pieces simply cut up.I also ordered a lamb roti , the roti was nice the lamb curry was the same as what is served on the bunny. The bunny itself was very spicy, again that is a personal preference issue, lots of gravy , you can ask for extra gravy, most people eat with their fingers but you can ask for cutlery, no liquor is served but all soft drinks are served. Large portion, so even the quarter bunny is huge. Parking is off the street and quite safe. For me it is a once come and try it experience. Nothing special otherwise.

Whenever I get a chance to go out for lunch in my hometown, Goundens will always be my first stop for a bunny chow. I’ve been coming to this restaurant(even at the old location) for many many years and what they’ve sold me on is their consistency over the years. Be sure to try the mutton bunny (ask for extra gravy!). Be warned that this is loved by all Durbanites so expect a little wait for a table should you want to sit in and eat.

In my opinion this has to be the best bunny in durban reason being the taste is very consistent 👌. Food comes faster than a Big Mac at McDonald's drive through, Really amazing.

Being a bunny lover I have eaten many bunnies from all over Durban, but nothing compares to the amazing bunnies at Gounden's . Its authentic taste and craveable flavours sets it apart from other places. The service is quick and efficient. I would highly recommend Gounden's for a great bunny chow in Durban.

The place is okay, I expected a bit more. The first time we tried to visit this place end of last year, we got terrible service so we walked out before we could even order. We decided to give it another try. Our waitress Jingles was exceptional. However the food wasn’t, it wasn’t bad but we’ve definitely had better burgers. The burgers were dry and just needed more. I was so disappointed by their ribs yesterday I went there and bought myself rib 600g and 6 wings aside as a take away the ribs were extremely dry I ordered as a take away their fries where burnt and their onion rings did not taste fresh even the oil that was used was like they used old oil that have been used repeatedly , the ribs had no basting didn’t taste grilled at all more or less deep fried ribs than being grilled it was like it was rotten ribs I was not happy to think I even tipped the waiter if only I set and ate my food did not order as take away I would have been able to complain to the manager the food preparation there is not great value for money I’ve never been so disappointed as a restaurant reviewer on tik tok I was so disappointed !

Funny because I underestimated this restaurant passing by. But something drew me in and I'm in LOVE !!!! I kid you not, this is the best restaurant on Florida Road, Durban. Ambiance and service is top tier. The food we had was prepared very well and portion sizes are impressive. My lunch date with my best friend here was one of the best dates.

It was a chilled environment, perfect to catch up with friends on the latest. The drinks were amazing on a chilly day and the staff did well, knowing exactly when to pop in or leave us be. The only issue I could say was perhaps the mini burgers I ordered which wasn't exactly my taste. Tho I know for others, it might be really tasty. I'm just not a pepper fan and the taste was confusing lol. Otherwise all good.

Mug and Bean in Musgrave hands down I came to it the 1st of November 2025 had a quick cup of Cappuccino. But after that I had to leave due to I was rushing. The over all experience and service I get from these guys is super amazing. Mug n Bean I'm your favorite fan of the shop. If only Gateway branch had a smoking section to. But I love your branch for the smoking and view and rhe staff are absolutely amazing guys. We'll done see u next time ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ok I loved everything, my cappuccino came hot and very fast. The please is super clean and tidy, but do look out for monkeys if you sit in the balcony. I had prawn pasta and it was absolutely amazing, compliments to the chef. My waitress, Ziyanda was pleasant and polite, she welcomed me properly and attended to my every need promptly.

The food was very delicious. My favorite part of the meal was the Pistachio milkshake, a 9/10. It just needs more pistachios to get a 10/10. The service was excellent, very welcoming. The atmosphere was great, but not vibrant enough. A great experience overall.

One of my favorite restaurants to dine in on Florida, especially when it comes to Italian cuisine. Lupa's staff never disappoints with their service. The atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding whether you choose to sit out or in.

The atmosphere was chilled. The steak was not as grand as other branches I have tried. The cheese burger was excellent. Service was pleasant but could use with some improvements. The waiter dropped our coffees, which we waited quite a while for. The second time the coffees arrived, they were cold, even though we requested that they be very hot. The wait for food and drinks can be improved. I have had better experience and food at other Lupa branches. On my most recent visit (27/10/23), both food and service have improved.

We were so warmly greeted and seated by a very hospitable young gentleman on Wednesday afternoon. Our waitress Precious was absolutely magnificent. She made great suggestions and knew her menu well to guide us to awesome choices. The gnocchi was so creamy and delicious, The Pizza was perfectly crisped and packed with flavour, The Fettuccini with chorizo was so well flavored. Alot of love went into the preparation of our food and we truly appreciate the effort. Thank you to the team at Lupa Florida Road...you guys are amazing! The service quality is great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food and drink didn't take long to arrive after ordering(the place was not full) The atmosphere is of a chilled restaurant vibe with Cafe music playing in the background,but because the place is under trees,there's always birds chirping, and they can be loud and overwhelming. The food is more average but delightful.

Very expensive. We had dinner, ordered Chicken wings , Caesar Salad and the Rockstar Beef burger. The chicken wings were okay in terms of taste, small portion for the price, the Rockstar burger was very good with chips and onion rings and the Caesar Salad was completely tasteless, with the Caesar sauce also being tasteless, the sauce was served separately and not tossed inside the salad. The service is okay, had to go look for a table, no welcome to be seated, food took a long time to come to the table and the restaurant was not busy, mocktails were fine, again nothing special, the strawberry daiquiri and pina colada were okay. The the prices, I expected a vow food and beverage experience. Just very expensive food and it’s a little vibe and atmosphere. Would not recommend in terms of value or experience.

ALWAYS my go-to establishment after finishing a film at the Suncoast cinema late during the weekdays. The atmosphere at Tiger’s Milk will never be a bore despite it being the early days of the week or it being late. Good music & overall aura. Their excellent bartenders with good service are the reason why I always visit the upstairs area.

It is sad when service and quality degenerates like this. I used to visit Johnny's Chip n Ranch many a times about 20 years ago. They the food was tasty. Last night feeling peckisk and not wanting the usual franchise foods, I decided to drive to Johnny's now called Sunrise Chip N Ranch in Overport which is approximately 30km from my home. Nevertheless I made the drive in the rain, anticipating the savory tasty food in my mind. Wow what a disappointment. I ordered a quarter mutton bunny, chicken and chips roti roll and mutton roti roll. All the food was cold. The bunny had more bones than meat no patatoe or salad. The roti rolls were just as disappointing. The only good thing about them is that they are opened for 24hrs. They are frequently supported by late night patrons, who are returning from clubbing or a night out partying. I really think that these supporter are so intoxicated by this time that they everything taste good. Sad to say, but they should remove the sign that on the wall "The original Johnny's Roti", it's an injustice to Johnny. Durban really needs another 24hrs place like this that serves all round food with good service. I will not buy from them again and do not recommend them.

I was quite disappointed with Sunrise in Overport, Durban. The place is unhygienic and unappealing right from the moment you walk in. Despite having a large menu, they had absolutely no food available. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone; it's simply not worth the visit. --- Let me know if you want any changes!

Can’t go wrong with a classic Milky lane menu. There’s a wide selection of sweet treats to choose from. I got a large tub with a bubblegum dip. The dip was okay, not the best I’ve had but not the worst either.

Absolutely disgusting service. We were not served at all and there were multiple waiters and waitresses going around to the other tables. Eventually we had enough and went to the counter to order and were told we have to wait for a waitress and I argued back that we've been there for 20 minutes already and not been served or even been given a menu to look at. The female cashier gave attitude and then took our order. After almost an hour we go back in to check what's the delay and had to end up calling out the manager and we see him pulling out our slip from under a whole stack of take away orders while we were sit in customers. Multiple people had come and gone already and they hadn't even started with our orders. It was only 4 small items. 2 sundaes, a hot chocolate and a waffle. The sundaes came so messy and with ice cream and sauce dripping down the sides of the glass. It looked pretty disgusting. The waffle wasn't even made at that point and after another 15 minutes the waitress brings out the waffle and you can check the pictures for reference. The presentation was awful. How does a place like this serve a soggy waffle, that was 'freshly made' with melted ice cream and cream on top?! The wafer was laying on top of the pool of ice cream on the waffle and the waitress told me that was mine. I asked how they can even serve something like that that looks so appalling and disgusting. She gives even more attitude and rolls her eyes and asks if I want them to make another one and I said yes. I just look at my husband and he said we're not dealing with this anymore and we want a refund. We went in to go find the manager and the waitress with my waffle. I took the waffle back from her to show the manager and he didn't even offered sincere apologies or any substitutes. We even pointed at the other newly made waffles which looked great but then pointed back to ours to show the comparison. We had to fight to get our refund for the waffle but honestly this was such a disappointing experience with MilkyLane. If I could give zero stars, I would. Definitely won't be going back.

My brother and I spent a lovely five days at quarters Hotel. It is in a historic property with a fabulous location on the Florida Road in Durban. Florida Road has 20 or 30 restaurants many of them excellent and is also close to other great restaurants such as joops place and malis. There is a system of private security which allows want to walk up and down Florida Road perfectly safely at night popping into the various bars and restaurants. Is a terrific way to see Durban and there’s also only three minutes away from the beaches which were open and without any issues. I would very much recommend staying at quarters and will return.

Staying in the Quarters is a truly fabulous experience. Each staff member at this comfortable and stately hotel was courteous, friendly and helpful, responding promptly to requests for assistance. I was particularly touched by the breakfast service from Nana and Boniswa. The food is of an excellent quality, beautifully prepared in the kitchen. Plus, the coffee was perfectly brewed. A healthy range of options on the menu makes travelling for business a whole lot more pleasurable. They made up a lovely breakfast take-away to have on the way to the airport as we had to leave early to catch a flight. That just made my day! Thanks to receptionist, Gillian, and Sarhana for assistance with admin requests. Also, delightful to have Nomphu organise a plumber within the hour in response to a problem with a tap in the shower. Security here is terrific, and having access to beautiful outside balconies an added delight. Great wifi is the cherry on the top!

The rooms were clean and big. However, the windows had gaps and the walls were quite thin, so you will hear everything that is going on out- or inside. This accomodation had the most powerful toilet flush of all of South Africa. If any toilet on the premises is flushed you will hear it or even woken up by it. The breakfast was exceptionally good. You can select any item from their breakfast menu, including cappuccino, eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast etc.

These guys were so good to me when I first booked there months before my wedding. I explained that I needed to get ready here and that my stylists and photographers would be coming through. When I walked into that room tired that night to get ready for my wedding a couple hours later. I had petals in a shape of a heart and such a great welcome. They were kind enough to extend my checkout if need be and I had the entire lounge area to myself to get ready. No fuss at all. It's a beautiful place to do wedding photography. The light is great and if you enjoy a vintage setting then this place is definitely for you. Thanks guys for all your help that day. Much appreciated!

Charming, comfortable hotel with just brilliant staff and incredible atmosphere. Breakfast in the solarium was delicious and again, I can't say enough about the staff. Without the people, hotels are just bricks and pillows, the staff here really goes out of their way to make you feel at home.

It is really a stunning place to stay over in. Situated at the bottom of Florida Road it is confidently situated for one to wonder around the nightlife of this Road filled with many restaurants, a Hotel, night clubs, fast foods and many drinking holes. It is also in the middle of either zipping to town or going north or even south or inland so very confidently situated. The food and service is great and also the airport shuttle stops over as well. A very great place to spend time in....

I am currently staying at Quarters Hotel while performing with the KZN Philharmonic. Their rooms are beautiful and clean, beds comfortable, showerhead very big (awesome!),great water pressure, amazing breakfast and wonderful service! I missed breakfast twice already, and they called me to check if I wanted anything, and brought the breakfast as room service. Really impressed with the hotel and genuinely feel cared for. Will be back for sure!

Delicious Afro's chicken as we know and love it. Try the 50 50 for a delicious combination that is not too hot but very tasty. The Bacon and egg roll will always bring back memories of the first yellow container on the beachfront. Try the Sarmie for pulled chicken on a toasted roll. Staff are friendly and helpful as always.

Definitely the best Afros franchise in Durban. The food here is of superb quality. The Champion burger is amazing and it is recommended to have it spicy. Chicken strips with chips is great and be sure to order an extra bun.

The add R10 for a drink to a meal is not true here or some of the waitresses are crooks. I was charged the exact price for two drinks even though I was adding them to my food. The waitress gave a nonsensical excuse that when I was making my order I should have ordered drinks first before food if I wanted the discount.

I walked into Wimpy and did not receive any greeting back. The hostess threw menus at us and never came back to take the order. We sat there for over 15min without them taking our order and the restaurant was empty. Eventually we decided to leave and grap our breakfast in Steers and we meet x2 hostess on our way out- none of them said anything including the lady on the door - by the name Dolly. We were here in December as well with my family- received burned mushrooms and was given attitude when we nicely request them to be changed.. what a terrible experience. Staff does not seem happy to be working here.

Service was disrespectful & unprofessional. I arrived to a till lady on her personal phone & sharing jokes with the kitchen staff. She ignored me. I helped myself by picking up & perusing through the menu. While she prioritized serving a customer who came after me & who was not yet ready to order while I was, I went next door to Steers & ordered. I come back with food from next door & then order at Wimpy. While waiting, I think to pour sauce for my Wimpy order on the side because I know the sachets will not be enough. A manager or overseer rushes to the till lady & says something to her. She then rushes to me & with zero professional customer relations tact & yells at me to please stop what I am doing & to not get her in trouble. And both her and the manager person both execute some intimidation tact of snatching the sauce carrier away even though there was no resistance nor argument on my part. It was so appalling & insulting. I then approach the manager & explain to him that I am pouring this sauce for my Wimpy order & to please get me some sauce. So he instructs the lady to give me 1 sachet of sauce. I ask for more sachets & she gives me 1 more sachet. Why is Wimpy management counting sauce? Why is Wimpy staff afraid to give out sauce? Why did I have to eat a meal with inadequate sauce content that I wanted for my order? This hateful attitude & lack luster customer service was such a low class & poverty approach to customer's needs. Do better Wimpy Northbeach! You all know we don't have to buy anything from Wimpy in 2025. Do better & stop antagonizing & taking your customer's forgranted.

The food we were served was below average, the rib patties were only seasoned on one side and not both sides. The price of the food really doesn’t match the quality. The mushroom sauce was not fresh at all. The milkshakes however were good, you also have a nice view of the beach from here.

Probably the best Wimpy in KZN. This is my new favourite Wimpy. The staff are pleasant to interact with and attentive, always with a smile. The food is simply what you would expect from a good Wimpy store and consistency is there. I ordered 3 burgers in 3 days, was the best 3days of Wimpy I ever had. Big up to the Wimpy team at north beach. Very inspiring for the other Wimpy stores to follow your legacy! When in north beach don't give this Wimpy a pass.

Small Wimpy. Courteous, friendly, efficient, enthusiastic, upbeat staff. Best toasted Tomato and Cheese sandwich I had in years. Chips very fresh, not greasy. Fast service, takeaway was ready in 10 minutes. Happy ambience. Tables clean and fresh. Conveniently situated. Two entrances, one on the parking lot and the other inside the center. Ample parking, wheelchair friendly. Wish they were open in the evenings.

Worst pizza in Durban! As a fan of pizza boys I've eaten from the umhlanga and Durban North branch on several occasions. I live in Amanzimtoti, and wanted something different so I drove all the way to Florida road for a pizza. When I got home. The pizza base was extremely wet and soggy and falling apart. Imagine eating a chewy Steak pizza which costed me R148... with a soft, soggy, mushy base.... yuck! When I emailed Pizza boys their response was unbelievable. Apparently the base was wet and soggy because the pizza contained mushrooms. And they blamed it on my long distance travel. Saying that I drove to far for a pizza and the pizza got soggy because of my drive back home which was only 30 minutes... Smart people here know that this excuse is utter nonsense. When we all know that most pizzas contain mushrooms. And people don't always eat pizza the same time. Infact if you buy a pizza from any other store, 5 hours later the base is still intact. So they chose to blame it on the mushrooms and my 30 minute drive back home instead of taking ownership of unhygienic standards. My pizza was probably put on a wet surface. Because only the centre of the pizza was soggy. Yet the entire pizza had mushrooms on it. I will NEVER go back to this branch. The food and customer service is disgusting! Rather go to Debonairs and get an "on the double" the base will survive till the next day even. Don't waste your money on this overpriced nonsense at this branch.

Pizzas are 10/10. (biltong pizza is delish and so is the clubo salad) Staff are 10/10. Service is always 10/10. Purchased 2 pizzas and 2 pastas from this store, they had to call me back to confirm what type pasta I required instead of what was shown on the menu, which delayed the collection time. The store is small, only a few tables and chairs so no sit down. Took the meal home to share with my family, only to find a few hours later , we were inflicted with food poisoning. 😔 Terrible

Ordered two pizzas on Uber eats. It took two hours to get to me - I am 2.4km away from them. PIzzas were cold and like rubber. Called the restaurant and got just no co-operation. They cut call twice when I complained and asked for the manager.

Bought Pizza two weeks ago, on special Felix was rude when I tried to explain the Uber special. Had difficult time contact Raeesa and Muneeb (he stated he her right hand man. Finally got a response. Standard corporate apology and excuses for their staff. Tried their pizza again last week Friday. Sent it back the same time. Paid a total amount of R346 for three pizza, that was in edible, soggy and disgusting and the owner refused to refund.. So technically the business is in breach of this sale.. Owner refuses. I will be reporting this Franchise. Please don't waste your time and money ordering from any store. Even the new one opened in Gateway...... Save Yourself the disappointed and support another pizza. I ordered from Debonairs on Friday, was delicious, arrived hot and on time and the tastes was on point with a nice fresh soft base. Bonus they also halal.

I was utterly disgusted with the service received at the City View Wimpy. We walked in and ordered a Chai Latte, the service was so slow that it was only when we stood up did we get told that it was ready. We then requested for it to be made a takeaway. On our way out, I then paid by tapping my phone, which is something that I always do. After walking out of the shop, and one Indian woman shouted back for me. I continued walking and was approached by a guy who works there to say we should go back to the store. I made it clear to him that I was in a hurry, the Indian lady approached and accused me of not paying. I asked why she had not brought the speedpoint if that was the case, she proceeded by shouting. I gave the chai latte back only to discover that the payment had Infact gone off my account. I wish she doesn’t treat people like this!!! Utterly disgusting and pathetic!

Very disappointed. Ordered the chicken schnitzel, cheese melt and mushrooms. Supposed to get two schnitzel, there were one one. Also ordered a large caramel milkshake, I received a regular. This is not acceptable. Do not recommend, will not reorder from the dishonest restaurant again

This halal Wimpy is one of the best in the country. Service is always great and food comes quickly. The owners have been in the game for many years and know how to keep customers happy. The traditional breakfast is always a good option. Be sure to try the Wimpy coffee, it's milky but a good taste. Also don't be shy to try the milkshakes and desserts. The layout is spacious and there is a smoking area and secluded area for family privacy.

Wimpy Game City, is still a favorite for many. Halaal menu, good service and quality food are both served here with a smile. It's much quieter and cleaner inside Wimpy compared to the rest of the centre. Speedy service. Standard Wimpy experience.

Although I order 3 different pizza flavors, all of them tasted the same. There was barely any pieces of chicken or Mince on the pizza. First and last time ordering from them.

When I first came there it was great. Unfortunately it seemed every visit there were slightly less toppings than the time before. The final straw was a pizza that had no discernible toppings other than cheese and there wasn't much of that either. I demanded a refund and haven't been back.

Ordered their mama's curry. The description read " deboned mutton pieces". When tasted, it was soya chunks and not mutton. Dishonesty and being deceitful is unacceptable. Especially if you expect your customers to pay R119 for a base with soya chunks and curry sauce.

I am giving this a one star review, because of the incredibly poor customer service received on Saturday afternoon. We ordered 3 medium pizzas over the phone, specifying it was apart of the 3 for R190 deal. We arrived to pick up and the lady said, “that’ll be R240” and we explained to her we ordered the 3 medium pizzas for R190, and she said “Oh, this order is 3 large pizzas, we can’t change it now as it’s already been made”, as if there was absolutely nothing to be discussed, handed us the pizza and grabbed the card machine. We don’t eat out or get food often, but my grandmother had specially given us enough to get pizzas as a treat, R50 extra doesn’t sound like a lot but was to us. We just did not have the energy in us to kick up a fuss after a stressful day, so just paid the extra amount. Unfortunately, this is a example of improper customer service - it was the servers/cashiers responsibility to confirm our order correctly and the total with us on the phone (we thought we had been very clear), and if she had not confirmed this, we should not have to pay extra for something we did not order or it should have been remade correctly. Mamarazzi's, if you read this, I would like you to think about how you train your staff to provide a basic level of customer service including simple habits like repeating an order and total to someone before quickly putting down the phone, as well as taking responsibility for recording the order incorrectly, and especially not expecting them to pay for your mistake. I am not impressed and would not recommend you.

Went there last week and ordered Chicken Peri-naise and Pancetta. Both bases were not crispy and felt like I was biting into cardboard. Toppings tase was decent but the amount was less. Could of put more of the toppings due to the price. Overall the main downfall was the base. Didn’t taste wood fired at all

First time ordering from the shop and it wasn't too bad all things considered. Delivered in 20 minutes, which was surprising as it said 40 minutes. The thick crust wasn't to my liking, but that's what I ordered. Next time, I'll order only thin crust, which is much better.

A family favorite for the last 4 years. They have consistently great quality and freshness, they don't skimp on the toppings. Always willing to change things and swap out ingredients for us. They even helped out with unused pizza boxes for a school project at no charge! We often travel from Umhlanga to Durban North just for this pizza, they know how to do the things!

I had been craving pizza for weeks and finally ordered a pepperoni pizza on the uber eats app , received my delivery and the pizza had ZERO pepperoni. couldn't get hold of the driver after that. BITTERLY disappointed. imagine paying R120 for a cheese pizza. fml

I’ve always been a fan of Nando's and it is very sad when certain branches of a franchise let the entire brand name down. Today is the 06/10/2024 What suppose to have been a good meal turned out to be a very frustrating experience. 1. Our food was served cold 2. The quality of the food was not at all grand 3. The staff’s service was absolutely POOR (Apart from being unattended to…what frustrated me more was when I requested for water twice and never got it, when I laid my complaint with the manager…my waitress did not even remember that I had asked her twice.This is how unconscious or dishonest the staff at Nando’s Musgrave are For the first time in my life,I left a Nando’s restaurant dissatisfied. Nando’s Musgrave - DO BETTER (You guys are not doing us a favour by providing a service and product that we are PAYING for)

This is my go to spot during my lunch break whenever I'm in Musgrave, Berea. I've always been a fan of Nandos, especially the Peri-peri sauce. I usually order take out as I have limited time to seat in. Everything is always done to perfection although the portions are small which leaves me wanting more. The area is very neat and quite presentable. Overall, excellent service from the staff and awesome packaging that's environmentally friendly.

Very poor horror food order a veg burger pattie was not cooked served with green tomatoes. Very disgusting 🫣, tea was like dish water .wash your floor with it . Just get a sorry from staff this will not happen again 😔

Relaxed take-away / restaurant with great service and atmosphere. The burgers are excellent and from what we saw served to tables around us, the ribs a crowd-pleaser. No matter what you order, order chips. We had a large portion to share (between 2) and it was a generous dinner plate full of really exceptional homecut fries.

Fantastic little gem tucked away in Glenashley.One is pleasantly surprised by the big menu which caters for everybody.There is a nice seating area outside and a smaller one inside, The staff are friendly and you can phone ahead and you don't have long to wait to pickup your order.Prices are very reasonable and affordable so you can spoil your family.The chips which have always been crispy and nice tasting were not up to standard which was a disappointment.

KFC Reservoir Hills has really lost the plot. 25 minute wait for strips and only being told about the waiting period after paying . To add insult to injury,the Zinger fillets were either from early in the morning or yesterday. Do better . Keep customers with decent service and a good product. That's how you run a business , not cutting corners to increase profits . It's honestly becoming worth the trip to drive to another location for a decent meal from KFC . Reservoir Hills branch is not it .

This was a dull experience. Brought the entire family for dinner. The staff were helpful, but could have been more friendly. Ordered, sat and waited. When the food arrived, we were immediately dissatisfied. 1/4 chickens were asked to have extra basting sauce, they gave it to us extra dry. The chips felt super rationed the wrap was so dry... overall, this was not a premium experience.

This is the second time within two months eating here and the service is most disappointing. The staff make you feel as if they are doing you a favour. We asked for glasses while we waited and was then asked if we have cutlery already, no, then wait for the cutlery and we will get the glasses. We waited very long for our order, the cutlery and waiting long in the queue to query our late order. After a very long wait, they forgot two paid items on the menu but we dismissed it as we were not going to queue to query the missing items. We are so over this place!

Review: Nando’s Suncoast Dropped by Nando’s Suncoast for a late dinner and decided to treat myself to a full chicken — because why not? Ordering a whole bird felt like a power move, and having it all to myself was pretty cool. The flavours were on point as always, but I have to say, one wing felt like it came from a different chicken altogether — a bit drier and not quite matching the rest. Next time, I’ll be skipping the quartering. Something tells me the knife work messed with the vibe a bit. Also, no green salad was available, so I ended up with coleslaw — not bad, but not quite what I had in mind. The service was solid though. Staff were bubbly and friendly, even though it was late. Overall, still a good experience — just a couple of small things to iron out.

Hi Nando's, I recently ordered your Hotspot meal with the spice rating, and I was really disappointed. The food came burnt and completely tasteless — not what I expected from Nando’s. I’d appreciate it if you could look into this and let me know how this can be resolved. Thanks in advance

Last night we had the absolute pleasure of having our dinner at Nando’s Suncoast - it was rather late - we ordered a burger meal and chicken strips and spicy rice. We were pleasantly greeted by Nomthandazo, who placed our order and we sat down and waited - it was just a little less than an hour to closing (11pm) Khumbulani, our waiter brought our meals to us and quickly offered to warm up my spicy rice when I complained that it was not hot enough. As soon as my husband saw his burger he realised his mistake in not ordering a double burger. Khumbulani took our order and Siyanda brought the second burger to our table and I decided to order a malva pudding. It was 10:57pm and I asked Nomthandazo if I still had time to order. She said there’s always time to order pudding 🤣 Everyone who served us this evening was friendly, polite and extremely generous of their time. I especially want yo mention that Phumla, the store manager was just as generous with her mood and attitude towards us. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ for a very welcoming and wonderful team, led by Phumla, who knows how to be successful in great customer relations and service. People were still being served after their closing time and everyone received the same generous courtesy we were shown. We will be back team Nando’s Suncoast!!!

No Sauce at all. the Chicken is Dry had to Ask for my juices after few minutes and the Chicken came without fried chips i had to eat it after the meal it was served 10 mins later. Very verry poor service afternoon stuff the order was at 22h20 17 July 2025

We bought full chicken and asked for extra sauce but then our chicken was very dry with no sauce at all, we were very disappointed 😞

Pedros is so good!!! Value for money indeed and the flavour is mesmerizing. This spread lasted us over 2 days because there was just so much of food but we were genuinely on cloud 9 for each of those days. Highly recommend Pedros for anyone who hasn't tried it as yet.

Great level of service from the staff. Perfect atmosphere to bring the family along for a lunch or supper. Food was well prepared and delicious. Great value for the price! Excellent customer service and I will be returning back cuz!

Our school had a celebratory lunch for 45 staff members at Pedros Glenwood today. The owner and manager went the extra mile to accommodate us in their busy period. We are truly appreciative of the managements efforts to tailor the menu according to our budget. They also ensured that our meals were prepared on time so that we had no wait time. They even catered for the vegetarians. Our staff enjoyed the food and the vibe. Definitely going back Dr S Omar- Principal ( Overport secondary)

I purchased the 1/2 Chicken Paella at approximately 9:01 PM (Order #331) from your Helen Joseph Drive Pedro’s branch. Unfortunately, the chicken was severely overcooked—its skin was dark, burnt, and resembled charred wood. The food was completely inedible, and I had no choice but to throw it away. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I will not be returning to this location again. The quality of the food and service was unacceptable.

Food is consistently food no matter how busy it is. Staff try their hardest to speed up the line even though it's 1 of the busiest drive-thru's I've been to. Don't go through the drive thru if you are a learner driver. You queue on a steep bank and have to stop side by side on a drive way basically wide enough for 1 car

I would like to thank the staff for accommodating us on such short notice. The service and food was excellent and they seated 50 of us, making a great staff outing. I also tried the Oreo blizzard and I have to admit, the Oreo Mcflurry has competition! The ice cream was tasty with a good ratio of oreo!

I just got home with my takeaway order from Heroes in Musgrave. As I entered the restaurant, I could get a burnt oil scent. Nevertheless, I placed my order for 8 wings and Chili cheese fries. I've just got home and decided to taste. To my disgust, both the Chili cheese fries and wings tasted like it was fried in that burnt oil, which probably had burnt spices and flavor. I will never order again from this place. Extremely disappointed and would never recommend this place to anyone. The wings are claimed to taste like that of Chicken Licken. However, it's just basic drummets coated and fried in burnt flavored oil. A waste of my time, and money!!! It's actually sad as I trusted the reviews and decided to give this restraunt a try but the food did not keep up to how the reviews describe it to be.

My brother and I were very impressed by the food from this place. We ordered a jalapeno cheese burger and cheekywhich, what a treat that was. Burger was spicy as expected and the cheekywich was full of flavour and tender.

I absolutely love the new branch at The Lifestyle Centre in Vause Road. Perfect for the kiddies amazing set up.. Spacious and as always the food if delicious. 💫👍

Been on my "Must Try List" for quite some time. Not the best sit-in place in terms of ambiance & atmosphere - the lack of lighting did not make it very welcoming or appealing. However, staff was accommodating & the food was amazing - prepared well, Delicious, full of flavour & very filling! Reasonably priced as well.

Been a regular customer, my colleagues and i order on uber eats used to be excellent.. However last few time chips were dry, hard and seemed uncooked, called the manager he said he will chevk with the kitchen... Do orders not get checked before going out? Highly disappointed.

Absolutely amazing food! I haven’t had Domino’s this good before. Very fast service and friendly staff. The ordering and delivery was simple and efficient. I particularly like that the order seems to be placed through a call-centre so there’s no audio issues where you have to try and be heard over the loud background noise at the take away counter. Will definitely order again!

I am absolutely horrified with the hygiene factor at the store. We went in on Saturday to order pizzas. I placed the order and advised the cashier I would be back in 10 min. Upon returning to the store, I noticed the pizzas being prepared. The cashier whom handles money etc as well as other staff were preparing the pizzas with NO GLOVES. I expressed my concern with a gentleman, who I am assuming is the manager. He calmly said that Domingos policy is NOT TO WEAR GLOVES due to bacteria. How is this even a policy!! WHERE IS THE LEVEL OF HYGIENE??? asked for a refund. This is really a major health concern! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

I live very close to this shop so when I need something quick, I use them. Last few orders have been awful. There is no consistency. I order the veggie lovers thin base. It is advertised as having mixed peppers. 4 or 5 slivers of dried up green pepper do not constitute "mixed peppers". And there is suddenly a sweet red sauce that renders the whole pizza inedible. A tomato base does not have to taste like chutney. I never thought I'd say this, but worse than debonairs.

Absolutely disappointed. Placed an order at 7.02 pm and was told it will be delivered in 35min.... According to the tracker it was completed at 7.10. Quality control completed at 7.13. No notification of being picked up for delivery at 7.25pm contacted the store and the cashier took forever to find my order, I was then told the deliver guy just picked it up. Still not reflecting on the tracker. At 7.35 it was picked up according to the tracker.... By the way I live literally 6min away. At 7.50 called again and was told by the manager that she will call the driver. The pizza arrived at 8.20 pm COLD. No fault of the driver as he was not even told about the order until I was called, and he is the ONLY driver for the store. Will definitely NEVER order from Glenwood again.

Conveniently located, staff are friendly, but the Pizza is the worst you can buy - truly awful Pizza!!!!!! - It's not the branch, its the entire franchise!. To the owner, drop the brand! Scooters with all its problems at least tasted decent, not this! I do not recommend.

I have been ordering weekly from this Dominos since they opened and have never had a problem. The staff are extremely friendly and consistently produce the same high standards of Dominos pizza. Delivery is good with great delivery times and quality. Definitely one of the best Dominos I've been to in the country.

at 09/06/2025 i bought wings on special they gave me old meat and chips i went and complain nobody even bothered to apologise atleast they just looked at me when i even left nobody came to help me out about the issue not even a yes we accountable and we can see our mistake

I always come here in the mornings for my sandwich and the only person that does it exceptionally well and too my satisfaction is Xolani. He is the best and I appreciate his service. Infact all the staff and the garage give exceptional

If you looking for one of the best prepared Steers burgers, this particular place is the one to order from. Halal outlet attached to the garage. I have eaten Steers burgers from the other Halal outlets, but this one is really prepared with a passion for food! They have the friendliest staff and the best griller/ food prep guy. Dont waste your time elsewhere. I will not settle for any other Steers! Well done guys! Congrats Mr Ballim on a top fast food outlet!

The trainee was rude. They did not want to give me the bathroom key. I was pressed. The service is chasing customers away. Nando's culture is no longer there. The stuff have made it their home, making customers feel unwelcome. I wouldn't go back.

In a very quiet period the service poor the stuff were busy chatting especially front of house my food almost went to cold as ice not giving it to me

Bought 2 soya burgers, totally inedible. The patties were not cooked. There was so much spicy sauce that the buns fell apart. Waste of money. Always no chips available. Very disappointing.

First time.e at RK's Durban, definitely recommend the Chipper sandwich good value. Unfortunately their samoosas are quite small for the price charged and cold as I had one in the store which was strange as they had power. Will return to try the curries.

Bought pizza there last year and tasted really good. The issue came up when I wanted to place an order for delivery. I was told on the phone and in person that they don't deliver in my area because "it's high risk". Shocked because I live in the same suburb and other takeaways next to them have no problem delivering in my address. To make it worse, I have seen Dominos scooters delivering in my area. I live in Berea West Westville. I stopped buying there since.

We were extremely disappointed with the poor customer service. Orders were delayed, pizza crusts overcooked and hard. The meaty Supreme barely had any meat, seems like they forgot the cheese as well. It was such a Waste of money and Certainly won't be going back there again.

Domingo's Bluff has previously messed up my online order, more than once. One evening I ordered online and the order was not delivered, no communication followed. The images attached are from today's order. It is quite clear that there are spots of plain pizza dough. Considering that this branch was originally a Domino's, I expected the pizza to at least have all the filling.

Probably the best Domino's I've been to, at least in terms of food. Crispy base pizzas, as long as it's not the 3 cheese, and really neat space. Could use a bit more waiting seats and the space is large a bit bare without many tables and seats. But food is prepared quickly and really good.

This is my second time ordering from Domingo's. I really enjoyed my meal. I ordered off Mr D and it arrived in 35 mins. I would recommend this place 🙂 pictured are the chicken and mayo on the left and chicken tikka on the right.

Another takeaway on the Bluff that has excellent service and consistently good food. Pricing is probably the best for the meal/s you receive and they deliver on time when they say 10 or 15 minutes to get ready. My first choice for pizza on the Bluff by far. 👍🏼

I've always supported Domino's bluff but the past two times of ordering has been a horrid experience. I feel that they are skimping on the meat topping... I ordered a Mexicana and there were about five pieces of meat in the eniture large pizza with some slices having no meat at all.
